SPEAKER_01

Hello and welcome to Dad Please, the podcast where a dad and daughter talk about the things we love and the things we definitely don't always agree on. From concerts and city adventures to books, movies, and our favorite foods, each episode is full of stories, laughter, and a little generational debate.

SPEAKER_00

I'm Hamlin, the dad.

SPEAKER_01

And I'm Alex, the daughter.

SPEAKER_00

Together we're exploring our favorite places, sharing what we're reading and watching, trying new foods, and of course, telling more dad jokes than anyone actually asks for. So grab a snack, get comfortable, and join the conversation.

SPEAKER_01

Welcome to Dad Please. Welcome to Dad Please. It's me, Alex.

SPEAKER_00

And it's me, Dad.

SPEAKER_01

And we're back with a new episode for you guys. We are, of course, gonna start with our pop culture segment, which I don't know if you guys have seen trending, or I don't know if dad's seen a trending, which he might because he sometimes sends me stuff. But recently there's been a lot of debate going around who should be on the Disney Mount Rushmore. So I don't know if you've seen it. It's been trending all over TikTok, Instagram, and right now there's we have Raven Simone's Disney Mount Rushmore. So Raven Simone thinks that it should be herself, Hillary Duff, Shiloh LaBeouf, debatable, and Lee Thompson Young.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. He was Lee Thompson Young's was like the first real black actor on Disney Channel. His own full show.

SPEAKER_01

And that's why Raven put him on there. Demi Lovato also made a comment about the Disney Mount Rushmore, and she said that she agrees with Raven, but she would not really put Shila LaBeouf, and she does hope that maybe in the future there would be like a future Mount Rushmore. That's not the OG. That would include herself, the Jonas brothers, Miley Cyrus, and Selena Gomez.

SPEAKER_00

Did the Jonas Brothers count as three, you know? So I know.

SPEAKER_01

There would be like three little brothers.

SPEAKER_00

Or you just can do them together. Like, is it how does that work? Those are always subjective and opinionated. Who do you think? I don't think it's any doubt that Raven Simone belongs up there, in my opinion. For sure. It's four. So um Raven Simone, I will say.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, you had Lizzie McGuire.

SPEAKER_00

You definitely have to put, you definitely have to put Hillary Duff. She put Disney on the map. At that time, Hannah Montana, Molly Cyrus, she got a lot of my money. And I probably would say the twins, the um, the um Cole twins, the Sprouse twins. They were really there's so many. You could say Decade Front because when he when they brought high school music musical, it was crazy. Ashley Tisdale was on so much Disney stuff. She was on Phineas and Furb.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's true.

SPEAKER_00

She's still on Phineas and Ferb. She still does.

SPEAKER_01

She was on high school musical, she's on Phineas and Ferb, Sweet Life. I mean, Raven was in so many things as well. So I mean, for sure, Raven Simone would be on there for.

SPEAKER_00

She played in Lemonade Mouth.

SPEAKER_01

She was a little later on there.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but she did. She blew up when she was on that lake. Lemonade Mouth was really, really good. We watched Lemonade Mouth over and over again when you were younger.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, we do like Lemonade Mouth. It's just so hard because there's only four spots. And I feel like there's so many talented Disney actors and actresses that deserve that spot. I mean, you also have like Demi Lawado said the Jonas brothers. They were in a lot of stuff too.

SPEAKER_00

They were. But I mean, to me, I can tell you my two that are not moving is Hillary Duff and Raven Simone.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. The other two are interchangeable.

SPEAKER_00

I would say because of what Miley Syers did and how she blew up Disney even more and like look at her career now. And I started because of Disney. You can say Selena Gomez, she was really big on Disney. Witches of Waverly Place was a huge memory for you, for you growing up. You used to watch that a lot. That was your show growing up, too.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, I love that show. I mean, there's so many. You can't really forget about like, do you include the animated characters? You know, like Kim Possible, the voice of Kim Possible, the voice of Penny Proud. I mean, those are really top-notch shows as well. So I mean, could you exclude them from the monument? Because Kim Possible voice.

SPEAKER_00

I think it's like a big, like, what did you do? That's why I think that, you know, the famous Jet Jackson, like when Raven said that, I was like, I can see that because he he did a lot of different things. But you know, Christy Carlos Romano, she was on a lot of different stuff. She was on even Steven, so she was the Impossible Voice. So you could include her because she she did make a huge impact on Disney. But I'm gonna put you on the spot, so you have to give me four now. Give me your four right now.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so for sure, I would pick Raven Simone. I would pick Hillary Duff. I love Miley Cyrus, so she would be on there for me. I absolutely adore Miley Cyrus and her whole career. I followed her throughout her career and her journey. Um, my last one, that would be so hard because like the Jonas Brothers, I feel like we can count them as one head, but I loved their shows. The Jonas Brothers show. I mean, we saw them in concert and I'm obsessed with them. But I also really love Selena Gomez. But I do love Demi Lovato too. She was in so many things in Disney. She really was, I would have to say Demi Lovato.

SPEAKER_00

Because Demi was on Sunday by the Chance, Cap Brock.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

For me, it was like, I watched these shows, but I like shows like this, but I watched them more because of you. Like for you, it probably is hard. It's like for us trying to say who's who should we put on the mount, Russ More for NBA or NFL. For me, somebody like me. You know, so but I mean, I told you my unmovables is Hillary and Raven for sure. The Sprouts twins were they were doing big things with Zach and Cody. And um, Ashley Tisdale was in high school musical, she was in that, but I'm gonna go with Miley as well. I'm probably gonna echo with Raven and go with the famous Jet Jackson. I think I think that he did, you know, what it's like.

SPEAKER_01

And I loved him even in his later, his later shows, his later career. It's unfortunate what happened to him, but he was really great. He his journey was so amazing from Disney to more adult shows like Rosolian Isles. So he played, he had a good acting career. Please let us know your thoughts on who you think belongs on the Mount Rushmore if you think we should change our our heads on the Mount Rushmore. We're not though. Yeah, we're not. I I I'm pretty pretty strong on who I think, but please give us your thoughts. Let's head into what we actually did this week, which we did something together.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, it was like it was pretty much a big family affair. My sister came from out of town and it's a family affair. We were violent told to do it. My mother made us the my mother and my nephew made us do it, the two-year-old made us do it, though.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it was a little chaotic, but it was very fun. We went to Dewberry Farm. So Dewberry Farm is a family-owned farm located in Brookshire, just outside of Katy. It's known for its memorable experiences year-round. The farm hosts a variety of events, like for Halloween. They have bluerific nights, they have a very merry Christmas, and the event that we actually went to was a spring fest. So at the spring fest, it was an Easter celebration. They had an Easter bunny, an Easter egg hunt. You could snap pictures with the bunny. They even had the chick, I believe. A chicken you could snap pictures with, and they just had a whole bunch of sweet spring treats. So our journey to get there was a very interesting one. We actually rented a van.

SPEAKER_00

A 14-passenger van.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, and we drove there from our side of town, which was about an hour. Um, I slept the whole way because I worked the night before, but so I don't know how the chaos in the van was with all the little ones.

SPEAKER_00

There's never chaos. They're uncles in the car with them. So we we have a good time, but you know, it has to be tame, especially when I have when I have to drive, because since I work from home, I barely drive anymore. So driving make wears me out.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it was it was a good ride for me because I was knocked out.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it was good. So it's you know, it was me, it was Alexandra, it was my sister Keisha, my sister Destiny, and her four kids, three grandchildren, um, my mom and my Aunt Sandy. My Aunt Sandy.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, she's part of the, what do they call them? She's part of the Charlie's Angels, my grandma's little group. Yes. Her and my Aunt Sandy and one of her other friends.

SPEAKER_00

So we didn't come this time. She came. We we actually went. Alex didn't get to go last time, but we went to she worked, we went to the Christmas um one, which this experience was great too, but the Christmas was better. It had more things. Then we went at night.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you know, they always put on a bigger show for Christmas too. But we actually highly recommend we got her tickets online for a good price.

SPEAKER_00

Well, we caught a sale, they had a special, so yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So get try to catch those specials because original tickets are about$30 a piece.

SPEAKER_00

So it's very, it's very nice. It's a nice little thing. The kids loved it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, we didn't know it closed so early. It closed at 5 p.m. And we got there like around noon. So for a full day, I would say get there at opening.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think Christmas was a little bit later. We were there at nighttime for Christmas because we we rode the train.

SPEAKER_01

But essentially, when we say it's a farm, it's a very large farm. So please wear tennis shoes, guys.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, if you if you go, um, it's like it's dusty. When I tell you my mother's feet from wearing her sandals were dusty and sandy, they were definitely that. I felt like she needed Mary Magdalene to come and wash her feet with her hair.

SPEAKER_01

It was so bad. She threw the shoes away. Well, she threw it.

SPEAKER_00

We were like, Baba, why did you wear these out here? She like her feet looked like she had been working in a factory all day with nothing on.

SPEAKER_01

They were so dusty. We should have taken a picture and oh something.

SPEAKER_00

That's probably how they looked when they're back in the day when they used to walk in in Jesus' time because they were like, Yeah, it was bad.

SPEAKER_01

So wear tennis shoes and not the good ones. Maybe like she sees this. Oh, I know. Maybe like your play tennis shoes or your old ones because it is so dusty.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I have to still clean my shoes. They're sitting in the bottom of my closet because they got so much dust on them. Oh, I mean, but again, and wear comfortable shoes. You're gonna be walking a lot. The attractions don't seem like they're in something that you would see in 2026 per se. But it's like so much fun. It's like to me, it's so much old school stuff. Like they got to Google on these little roller coasters and they have little go-karts that they can pedal.

SPEAKER_01

Small rides, and then they have the they do have a Fair Swell and they have those big slides that you well, those are at carnivals, but the big slides that you slide down and like little sat. They also had like mini roller coasters, like the boat ride, which takes you up and then down. They had well, my favorite part was the train ride because I took a little nap, but the train ride you asleep. The train ride takes you all around the park and it shows you, which I'm assuming that's what you guys think differently.

SPEAKER_00

On Christmas, it was better. On Christmas, like they had like things, they had music playing, which it was still nice to do it. We haven't been, they have a um one in October. They don't call it Halloween, they call it something else.

SPEAKER_01

They call it boorific or something like that.

SPEAKER_00

It's really a great experience, especially for smaller kids.

SPEAKER_01

They have little playgrounds too for little kids, like four and under, I believe. It's just a playground for them.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and then my sister, one of my sister's best friends that she's known since middle school. Her and her son met us there and joined us there. My sister, to be one of her really good friends, CC joined us too, so it was really fun. So it was fun. Uh CC wrote with us too. Yeah, I knew it was somebody else. I think somebody else was riding in the band.

SPEAKER_01

She wrote in the band with us. And of course, what you guys are probably waiting for, waiting to hear, was their food.

SPEAKER_00

You know, we're gonna talk about food.

SPEAKER_01

There was food. Now, I don't think there was as much food stands open compared to Christmas because a lot were closed, but they did have a barbecue area where they uh my aunt got it, but they ran out of brisket. It was a barbecue brisket baked potato, and people were saying that that was really good.

SPEAKER_00

The dogs that I texted at last time, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

They had that, and then they had hamburgers, your corn dogs, your hot dogs.

SPEAKER_00

They had turkey legs. The turkey legs are good. My sister gets them every time she comes.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, turkey legs, and then they had a chicken area where it was like chicken tenders, chicken burgers, and they also had tacos and margaritas. And yes, there is alcohol, guys.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, snow cones. They had snow cones.

SPEAKER_01

There was the star of the show, personally, for the both of us, the s'more fries.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, that was the best thing that I've eaten at both times. I've done that.

SPEAKER_01

It was so amazing. They had, well, they had a themed funnel cake for spring.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And then they had the original funnel cake, you know, with the strawberries and whipped cream, but the funnel fries were so good. Melted chocolate, they put powder on it. It was really nice. Marshmallows, so good.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, the kids loved it too. And they also have popcorn that you can get like kettle corn and things like that. And they had a cookie there at the hamburger place that was really good. And then you got a um Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And then I got a chocolate rice crispy that was in the shape of a cow that was really cute. And they also had a lot of souvenirs for the kids. So there was my aunt actually got my two little cousins a bubble gun. They actually had a stuffed animal maker where they would make your stuffed animals on site so you could stuff your animals. It was like hidden in a little corner, and their gift shop was actually really nice. I popped in right before we left, and they had a good variety of snacks and toys and souvenirs that you could take home.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it was when I say it was a lot of fun. Like, there's a lot of things. For me, it people who know me know that I am a big family person. I like to do things and for my family and spend time with them. And even though my mom, like my mom gets an idea in her head, you know, the dusty sandy foot lady, she gets she gets an idea in her head. She wants to get it done. So, like, it was not easy. I mean, I understand the people who are dads or parents or moms or what a family, it's hard to try to get everybody's schedule together. You know, we all work on different times.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's very hard. And you know, being an adult, trying to m match schedules, especially when you have kids, if you have kids, even if you don't have kids, it's very difficult to try to plan something. I mean, even us planning this podcast to record, it's like, okay, let me look at our schedule a month in advance. You know, it's very difficult because we all have our own lives, but whenever we get together, it's such a great time. It was so much fun, and we just had a really great time at Dewberry Farm. And I highly recommend going, even if you don't go for a holiday, maybe go just to go with your kids, and they will be tired by the end of the trip. So it's a good little weekend.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think everybody was pretty much like napping on our way back. I will tell you, I will say that so you won't be surprised. The food is a little expensive.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it is.

SPEAKER_00

It's a little expensive. I think that the food is good. I have nothing bad to say. I love the hamburger. I've gotten the hamburger every time I was there, but the food is very expensive. It is expensive.

SPEAKER_01

You're gonna pay like you pay going to a festival or a carnival, it's gonna be like that. And I mean, at least the food is decent, but you all are gonna be paying some money.

SPEAKER_00

And people are people are very nice.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so take your families, guys. It's a really cool place to go. They actually have a second location in near the Dallas area, I believe. So it was a good time. But even though that was a fun part of our week, we did have a big highlight. So let's tell you what we listened to to get us prepared for that major highlight. So our album of the week is Bobby Brown Don't Be Cruel album.

SPEAKER_00

Like one of the best albums ever, still to this day. So many hits.

SPEAKER_01

So one of the top songs on this album. I mean, he has a a lot of great songs on this album. It's Don't Be Cruel, My Prerogative, Ronnie, Every Little Step, I'll be good to you, take it slow. But a top song that people mostly listen to is My Prerogative. That's the number one song. And a couple fun facts about the album is the Gumby haircut in the album that Bobby Brown was showing off was actually a mistake. So he accidentally turned a different way and just decided to keep it like that.

SPEAKER_00

So, fun story. My mom was very, she let me kind of pick my own, do my own thing. I wanted a gumby, and she told me absolutely not. My cousin Maurice had one. I was so jealous that he had one. I never could get a gumby, or I wanted a ramp too. And my mom wouldn't let me get that. A ramp, look it up if you kids don't know what that is. I wanted one of those as well. But Bobby had that gumby, and I was like, Mama, let me rock that gumby, and she was like, Nah, bro, you're not getting that. So I love the gumby, still jealous. I don't I can't grow my hair like that no more, so I ain't gonna be getting it now.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, and I remember you telling me that story, and I'm like, why would you want that haircut?

SPEAKER_00

It was so popular, and my cousin had his haircut like that. I was so jealous. I wanted my haircut like that. My mama's like, no way.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe that will make a comeback. You know, everything's coming back now. Haircut, clothes, songs, so maybe that'll be one of the new looks pretty soon with these new age kids, and maybe adults will bring it back. I'm not sure. But we actually it was really hard for us to pick a song.

SPEAKER_00

It's like picking a favorite kid. Like it's just hard to pick. Like so many songs, the whole album from song to song, you can just listen and it's amazing.

SPEAKER_01

I believe that wasn't even his first album that he released. I don't think it was.

SPEAKER_00

I think it was. I think it was the first one. I think that was the first one. That was when he first left um that's when he first left New Edition. And he just blew up. Like he blew up.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and that was one of his most popular albums. And my well, my favorite song is My Prerogative, but I do like every little step.

SPEAKER_00

There's a lot of songs that are on there. There's a lot of good songs. I mean, like Rock With You is so good. I wanna rock with you all night long. That's you know, some of those songs you sang when you're a little kid, you don't even know what them what it means. Yeah, that was he made that in '88. I was really young. But I was singing those songs like I knew what he was talking about. That was that we back that singing. Bobby was him.

SPEAKER_01

I I I love that album. That's probably one of my favorite albums from him. But the reason why we decided to Oh, wait, I told you wrong.

SPEAKER_00

He had another one, King of Stage. You're right. King of Stage, he did that two years before, but that album, the Don't Be Cruel album, is the one that blew him up.

SPEAKER_01

That blew him up. I was like, I know he had an album before that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he did. He did. He had one two years before. You're right. I'm wrong, you're right. I would I should know better because I was there.

SPEAKER_01

See, I when I like somebody, guys, I know. And I was like, I know that was I know it was his most popular album. That's what really blew him up. But I was like, I could have sworn he had one before. But we were jamming to that all week or pretty much almost all month because we went to go see the new edition concert, and it was a time, it was really, really fun. So the new edition concert, we went to go see it. Well, we went together, of course, and then we went with my aunt, my dad's youngest sister, Keisha, and we were trying to get her to be on this podcast, but it was a little difficult with her schedule. She's a busy bee sometimes, so yeah, she's out of time right now.

SPEAKER_00

We were trying to get her in, but um this concert almost like you know, we just had to be like, ooh sah, because we've been to Toyota Center millions of times. Yes, millions of times, and we park in the same spot.

SPEAKER_01

We had to park somewhere else this time, guys.

SPEAKER_00

It was bad. There was so much traffic, and I don't know what was going on. Like, we were not moving, and I had to I had to make some moves in order to get us to a spot.

SPEAKER_01

Dad was so frustrated, and one thing about him is he is one of the calmest people you'll ever meet in your life. Like, I mean, and I've done some things, guys, and he never gets mad ever. But traffic turns him into a different person.

SPEAKER_00

I'm still praying on that. The Lord's working on me.

SPEAKER_01

And it was really bad.

SPEAKER_00

We talked to other people there, yeah, and they were like, We've never seen it this bad. And the people and the one person said, Well, maybe because it's sold out. I'm like, No, we were just here last month for Cardi B. For Cardi B, and she was sold out. And it's a I don't know what happened. I don't know what was and they're they're doing construction down there, and thankfully they started late, but like they did.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah, they started late. We love CPT, but they did start late. And the where we parked, we parked, we still park pretty close, but we parked across from the Toyota Center, and it was$34.62. I would know since I paid for parking.

SPEAKER_00

Because mine wouldn't come up. I was trying to pay for it and it wouldn't come up, and we're like, we're not leaving this car and we don't have it paid for because you come out, your car be towed.

SPEAKER_01

God forbid, getting your towed car out is the worst.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that would ruin the whole concert experience that was magical. And I'm like, if these, if this is the way we Alex and I were saying, if this is the way that the concerts are starting up this year, y'all better come with some come on because like because Cardi B tore it up, new edition Boys the Men, Tony Braxton tore it up.

SPEAKER_01

So she did the little dance. Yeah, and well, when we so we got there late, that's jumping ahead, like always. I gotta reel him back in. But we did get there late and well, not late, I would say on top. Yeah, they came out like at nine, because like 8 59.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, something like that.

SPEAKER_01

So when we got there, there was no lines for Eddie merch because I was like, you know, I always have to get my shirt, which I forgot to wear for you guys, but there was no line because they we could literally hear them screaming because they were gonna be like, they were starting to introduce them.

SPEAKER_00

And I was gonna actually get a shirt this time, but they didn't have the Tony Braxton shirt that I wanted. I love Tony Braxton. I like to say my first car, well, my first car that my second car my grandmother got me, I named it Tony. I love Tony Braxton. I was like, I'm going to marry her someday. Like, I love Tony Braxton. So I was very excited to see them, but I really was excited about seeing Tony.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and so he didn't get a shirt because they ran out of sizes, which they didn't have a lot of sizes left, which is of course what happens when you were the last we were the last show. Yeah, because I got a shirt. My aunt and I got the same shirt. It was a new edition blue shirt with like their songs on the front, and then of course I got some pins of Boys to Men. And then we found our seats, which actually we were in the section right by where we were for Cardi B. We were like 115, and Cardi B, we were I think 116. So it was a really good seating place. We dad did not get his dip and dots. Yeah, dad did come through. He didn't get his dip and dots, though.

SPEAKER_00

So oh my god, I always forgot to tell you that too. Now we're talking about it right now. We when I went up to go use the the bathroom, I saw a dip and dot stand. I said, Oh my god, it's right here. And then nobody was there.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, sometimes sometimes they have it closed. Like the stand will be there, but they don't always open the stand for certain concert, which I wonder how they determine that. But we got there right on time, but we didn't miss too much because it was a DJ again. Yeah. So the opener was another DJ, which DJs are fine.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I mean, DJs, they they get you crooked. I will say, you have the right DJ control. DJ was good. That DJ was good too because they came back in the middle of the day.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he came back in a little bit of the show. But we got there right when new edition was coming up. And it was really cool. I was trying to figure out how they were gonna do like all of the songs because of course, you know, like they're separate groups, but I was trying to figure out like how they were gonna I guess take turns, but that's what they did. They took turns throughout the entire couple of years. Yeah, the first song they came out together. They did the first song together, and then they alternated. So like then Boys to Men came out, the new edition, then Tony Braxton. And oh my gosh, Tony Braxton is such a soldier, when I tell you. She had a broken arm, so she actually broke it in Atlanta falling on the stage, and she was still singing, still dancing, and the best part was she was matching that cast to her outfit.

SPEAKER_00

Whatever outfit she had on, she was matching.

SPEAKER_01

And she changed outfits every single time she came out, so it was a different outfit.

SPEAKER_00

And the cool part was um she didn't know about it. You there's videos out that she a sister came out and surprised her.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, her sister um Tawanda did. I think I said that right. Yeah, Tawanda Braxton came out and surprised her and danced on stage with her.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he did. But he wasn't man enough of me. That was the first song that she did. It was like it was the very first time. And she had she was hitting it with that broken arm and everything.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, and dancing and singing, like not even missing a beat.

SPEAKER_00

It was so good. Yeah, they did the first song they did was We're Goin Out Tonight. It was a new song I've never heard of, but it was really good.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, they all came out together.

SPEAKER_00

They did the song together, and then Motown Philly with Boys the Men, and then He Wasn't Man Enough of Me by Tony Braxton, and then New Edition came back. But they just were rotating in and out into the Yeah, like every two to three songs. Yeah, and it wasn't it wasn't really um a pause or anything like that. I thought they did a great job. Honestly, I feel like that older groups should do that. Like, I feel like the way they did that because New Edition has so much energy, and Boys the Men has so much energy. Boys the Men has a lot of energy. I've seen them three or four times, but they had a lot of energy. But like I think being able to do two, three songs, go back there, get you some water, change clothes, and come back, I think that gives them, gave them more energy.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and it was really cool because they well, one of my favorite parts was in some of their songs, like if it isn't love, they played their music video in the background, their older music video.

SPEAKER_00

And they did the dance. Alex Alex loves the dances on those things. So she practiced in some of those dances. This is her moment. This is her moment to sing.

SPEAKER_01

I love if it isn't love, it's like my favorite notice song. Yeah, and they dance. I told my dad, I was like, Dad, how old are they? They're getting it down, like, never miss the step. They were dancing.

SPEAKER_00

But I think that goes back to the way they set the concert or two. And I've seen Boys and Men a lot, and they sang a lot of songs that they don't always sing. Like they sung Ooh Ah. They don't always sing that in a concert. Um, four seasons of Lowliness. There was some song that they sang that was really, really good. And Alice was really excited because she wanted Tony to sing Please.

SPEAKER_01

I love that song. I love it. And she sang it. And of course, her hit Umbreak My Heart, she sang that one, and it was really beautiful because so first the violinist came out, or a violinist came out and was doing just the instrumental version, and then Tony Braxton came out with big old angel wings on. I'm like, girl, I don't know how you're carrying that with that broken arm. And then she like flew in the air singing it, and it was really, really beautiful.

SPEAKER_00

What I like too, because everybody knows that New Edition is amazing, but also New Edition has they all separated and have their own hits. So they got to sing their hits individually on a lot of them. I can tell you there's two times that the biggest chairs, hands down, was Bobby. People love Bobby. So when he came out, he did Rony, he did, he did other songs, then they backed him up. Some of the guys backed him up on some of the ships.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he did, you know, My Prerogative, Every Little Step. He did his hits, and people were going crazy.

SPEAKER_00

As soon as they saw him because he didn't do everything. So the way they did it, whoever I guess was part of the group at the time is who sung it. So Ralph and Johnny were part of it at some of the songs.

SPEAKER_01

And Johnny Gill did his own songs.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, Johnny did his own songs. Ralph did his own songs. Ralph still looks really amazing to be his age, and it was really, really cool. Even like having you know Michael Bibbins come out, you know, one day back in Philly. Four guys they wanted to sing and they were on the stage doing it. It was really cool to see that. And to see to hear them sing, Bobby did some songs with them. And Bobby, when he did his songs, he he did a little dance and like go, go, go, Bobby, go, go, go, Bobby. He came out, eh, threw his hands at him and said, You want to see me dance? Go see, go watch YouTube. Yeah, then I watched the old YouTube, but Bobby said, Oh, I forgot how Bobby used to do it. Bobby was him.

SPEAKER_01

People were screaming, screaming. Now, the second loudest. The second loudest, yeah. I'll let Dad say it because he was so excited.

SPEAKER_00

When Michael from Boys the Man came out, he came up off the stage on the end of the road and he started talking. I said, Oh my god, it's him. He's here, he's here. And I was screaming. He said, You could barely hear him talking because everybody was screaming so loud, because there's people my age who grew up on Boys the Men. And I've I've like I said, I've been to a lot of their tours, and he came out in Philly because that's where they're from, and he came out in Houston. Those are the only two places I know for sure.

SPEAKER_01

Houston was the last tour.

SPEAKER_00

Those are the only two places I know for sure. Maybe he came out other places and the people could correct me, but I've only I only saw Philly and I saw in Houston. And so to me, that by itself, as someone who's followed Boys the Men since the 90s, that was really like great for me as a fan to see that, especially because I've gone to so many of their concerts, a lot of their concerts.

SPEAKER_01

And he was waiting because there was one moment where he thought they were gonna bring him out. He's like, Oh my god, is that? And then it wasn't.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, because he on I Make Love to You. He Yeah, I thought they would bring him out on that too. But I guess maybe he can only, you know, do so much because I know you know he has health issues. He has health issues. He he came out on end of the road, and I was just like, he's like, Girl, you know, I'm here for you. I said, That's my boy. Like, I was so excited.

SPEAKER_01

You couldn't even hear him because there was so many people screaming.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, as soon as he came out the floor, people saw him, and I was like, Oh my god, because I thought he was gonna come out on I'll make love to you. You can see, even in the background, I saw a video of the of the new edition guys when he came up, how they were smiling and like how the crowd, you know, got was going crazy.

SPEAKER_01

And that's another thing I did like. They, all of them, new edition, boys to men, Tony, they were so grateful for the fans. They were so grateful for each other. They were so grateful that they got to go on this tour together. And you think about it, and they've known each other for a long time.

SPEAKER_00

Mike is the one who discovered Boys to Men.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, to keep doing this years later, to hear people scream your name, know your songs, to be able to point the mic out to the crowd and people are singing your song that you put your heart into is pretty awesome.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, I like the way they pick songs. I thought that they I love people, like it's not as popular, but I am a huge Tony Braxton fan. Everybody was out there, I'm a huge fan of theirs, but Tony Braxton has a song. Um, it's called Long As I Live. I love that song. Like, I heard it her, it was on her babyface album together. And she sung that song, Boys of Men, sung Water Runs Dry on Bending Knees.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, they just it was and then New Edition did their 80s edition. Yeah, they did.

SPEAKER_00

They had like different levels where they did all this other stuff, and then they even Boys and Men even sung One Sweet Day, which they don't always sing.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, they sang that, and then they had the video of Mariah Carey in the background as well singing it. But they they really put on a good show, and there was so many, of course, they can't sing everything, especially with so many artists on stage, but they sang poison.

SPEAKER_00

They did 40 songs. We left. Poison was the last song. Yeah, they didn't. We left right after Bobby because you know the traffic was already bad coming, so we didn't want any part of it leaving. So we were walking up to when they were singing poison, which was really cool.

SPEAKER_01

It was a really fun time. And Bobby danced a little bit. Yeah, Bobby was dancing. He could stuck it down and be prepared to. That was probably the longest concert we've ever been to, I would say.

SPEAKER_00

It was pretty long.

SPEAKER_01

Because it was about almost three hours.

SPEAKER_00

You don't even you don't even feel it.

SPEAKER_01

No, it went by so many.

SPEAKER_00

You don't feel it like you felt like you were the only concert I can say maybe it was longer was Chris Brown. Chris Brown was. Oh, Chris Brown was like, Chris Brown was long because he had two opening act, and then his he did pretty much his whole catalog.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, Chris Brown was like.

SPEAKER_00

Um, side note, Chris Brown and Usher are touring. Um we've seen both of them already, but together, so you know, we may be we may be adding that to our concert list this time. We have so many this year already, so.

SPEAKER_01

But it was really a exciting moment and a very I would see them again. I think.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, definitely. I would have felt I would if they had had a concert the next day, I would have gone out. What was tripping me out was that um we looked, I told my sister, I said, Oh, look, they have they did an after show at um one of the clubs in Houston. She said, Oh, if we know we could have went there, she said it's only my sister. I was like, You you'd have had to drive yourself because I was tired.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, we didn't get out of there till like 11:30. It was late.

SPEAKER_00

Alex acts like an old person. I told y'all last. She was a she peaked in college, her two years. That was her time machine. I never peaked. I never went out.

SPEAKER_01

So uh he was a square, like my mom likes to call him. He now L7 Square. This is what my grandmother used to call me L1. Only got in drunk once in his entire lifetime.

SPEAKER_00

And I was an adult, I was 21. Follow the rules. I am a very big rule follower.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. We won't share my stories.

SPEAKER_00

But she's like she gets some of her, she has some of her mother in law.

SPEAKER_01

But it was fun. But I was shocked that they went out after that. I'm shocked they well, I guess it was their last. That's what I was saying. They were still singing like that and dancing like that.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, they sounded good too. You know their micro-owned. This wasn't an ellipse syncing, they're micro-owned, and they were getting it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, they were dancing. Oh, every single one of them. Like at new edition to a cement.

SPEAKER_00

Still looks like he's in shape. Yes. Ralph was still really skinny.

SPEAKER_01

They were all up and at him.

SPEAKER_00

I know people got different things sometimes. Like we got, like, I know I saw somewhere where um Johnny Gill did the LSG song and um Keith Swift came out in Atlanta. Oh, yeah, so like different places got different things and like different celebrity personals. Not everybody got that, but I guess if you're in a town.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's easier if they live there to bring them out, you know. I mean, it was kind of like with Cardi B and Meg. She lives in Houston, which maybe she's in Dallas a lot more, but it's easier when you're around that area to bring somebody out.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and they I mean, like they had a lot of different people who, you know, who came out. And LSG, if people don't know, LSG is a group with um Laverde, Gil, and Sweat, with Keith Sweat. And um, Gerald LeVerd, you know, passed away a while ago. But it was cool to see the videos of him coming off. I I love that people share those videos because some people can't. These concerts are expensive, they ain't cheap. And so some people can't afford to go.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and so we actually posted some videos too.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, go look at it. We we did a little teaser, we're gonna post more from the concert, but it's just like I'm telling you, when it's different parts, different things take you back. And I always remember when Johnny would start saying he's like, 9110024. Baby, it's an emergency. People start going crazy because it just you remember that line, like it's so popular, and it's just like all these.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he would tell me, Okay, record on this part, record on this part.

SPEAKER_00

I do just cover it up, and it's just like even when Bobby did my prerogative, he's like, I give women that's how I used to live. That's what he said. He changed the lyric. He said, I don't live like that though. Well, he's a little too old for that. But it was just like, it was really good. And I'm up there saying, I don't think I sat down the whole night.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, no, and there was people in front of us who were dancing. Everybody around us was dancing.

SPEAKER_00

It was so funny because it was these older people behind us, not older, but like, I don't want to say older. They want older people who were like, they're like my age. This is what I should say. My age. And there were some younger kids in the front, probably Alex's age or maybe younger. Yeah. And they were like saying something about let's take you back to the 90s, and the kids start screaming. They're like, Crip, y'all weren't even born. They were hilarious. They had me laughing all night. And even when a certain parts that Johnny was like, you know, Johnny saying, Johnny be singing, and he'd be go, he'd be like holding them notes. And that girl with the lady behind him was like, She about, don't tell me Johnny can't say a girl, he's he done. They were just funny. I was laughing at them all night. So it was a really, really good concert. Like, I when I tell you, I had a time and it was really funny.

SPEAKER_01

It was so much fun, and they really brought out the show, and it was just all around a good time. And it was fun because it was our first concert of the year with our aunt. Well, his sister, my aunt. So we have a lot more that she's coming to with us. So hopefully we get together on the next ones. But she was up and at them too. She was screaming and jumping right along with.

SPEAKER_00

I'm not gonna put up business out there because she's a good Christian. She was spilling some songs on there. That's all I'll say.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, she was up and dancing.

SPEAKER_00

She's like, Oh, that's my song. She jumped up.

SPEAKER_01

It was like, Don't judge me.

SPEAKER_00

Don't judge me. I was judging, though. I was judging. Call me Judge Judy. I was judging.

SPEAKER_01

We listen and we judge.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, we definitely listen and judge. And she was hilarious because my sister was just like, this is our first concert of the year, so she was really excited too.

SPEAKER_01

She was having a fun time.

SPEAKER_00

She was This was a this was a birthday gift for her.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, this was her birthday gift, and this was my Christmas gift. She was actually supposed to coordinate outfits for us, but she didn't. But I would say the theme of the night was sparkles. I saw a lot of sparkles. I mean, new edition and boys to men had sparkly outfits on.

SPEAKER_00

That's because, okay, you know, we're older. So like you have the younger crowds who come probably listen to this music because of their parents, which is why Alex listens to them. She knows about them because of the music that I listen to. And but it's mostly it's for people like us, but it's like concerts like that that have an older crowd. It's funny because Alex and I aren't in concerts that are just for like middle people. It's either like it's for her group, her age group, or it's like my age group, more or less, like you know, I think I think Bruno will probably be the first one that'll be probably like a mixture of everybody.

SPEAKER_01

Well, and the thing is too, like you get different concert crowds, so different vibes, and we say that all the time because we listen to a lot of different music.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we listen to a lot of music for us, it's just about being together and enjoying a time together. You know, right now Alex has more freedom. She's able to do a lot of different things and hang out. And this is kind of like our thing where we go to concerts and we love live music. And you know, like and she we could we told Miley before she became Miley. We saw it to him.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, which I'm still waiting for her to go on tour.

SPEAKER_00

Miley, if you ever just ever crosses your path, we want you to go on tour.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, please, please go on tour. I've been I love all of Miley Cyrus's music. She could even come back with Hannah Montana. Yeah, and she has so many albums that she could do. But let us now go ahead and rate the concert.

SPEAKER_00

Easy. Jackson Five. Yeah, it was a Jackson Five. Five stars, Jackson vibes, not even close, not even the dancing, the energy, the singing. They were all live on their mic, the bringing out Michael, like bring Bobby coming out. When Bobby came out and he sang this song, the way that they did that concert, the way that they set it up, they had the live music, they had the band back there. It was just, it felt like the 90s again for me. Alex doesn't know what the 90s felt like because she wasn't born in, but it felt like I was back in high school, living my best life. God, I miss being a kid, no worries. My brother and I were talking about how I wish I could just go back and play my video games again and not have any cons any types of things. Like Alex said, it's hard to get stuff together. We doing this is really, really difficult trying to trying to schedule time to make sure we do this, but this is something that she wants to do. And you know, my goal is always to try to make her happy. So even when I don't want to do something, he's having fun.

SPEAKER_01

Don't let it fool you. He has so many ideas, guys, and he brings more than half of these ideas to the podcast. So he's having a great time. And it was, I guess we kind of already said our favorite songs and stuff of the night. What my favorite song was probably well, the Tony Broxton, please. And I did like my prerogative, and then moments was of course when they brought Michael out.

SPEAKER_00

It was hard for me. I I will say anything that Bobby was in, I was down for. Because if you are a fan, I'm a big enough fan to tell you I watched the show when him and Whitney had the show together. I like when him and Whitney did the show, Bobby has gone through a lot and he survived. And he's here, he's lost children, he's lost, you know, people we care about. And like, I just have so much respect for what that man has been through and how he's still standing and how he's still here. And so anything with him, I'm gonna always be happy about. But I love Tony. I've never seen Tony, I never seen New Edition, so I was very excited about probably just because they brought Michael out, end of the row was probably my favorite song because they brought Michael out and he was doing that. That was probably but I did like that week going out tonight song that they all did together. Oh, that's it. I had never heard that one before. It was a good song.

SPEAKER_01

Opening, how they opened was so good.

SPEAKER_00

Now I love Hit Me Off. They brought Bobby Brown Hit Me Off. I love that they brought Bobby out with that one. It was just a lot of songs. You're making me high by Tony, please. How many ways? I love how many ways. That's one of my favorite Tony Brexit songs. And I got to hear her saying that last, so that was a highlight for me. So for me, too many songs to pick. That's why if I could give it more than five stars, more than a Jackson Bobber probably would, I will give it the new edition because of what is it, six members of new edition? Seven members of new edition. I will give them that because that was an amazing, amazing concert. And if this is how the concerts are gonna play out all year, I'm excited and ready.

SPEAKER_01

We have an exciting year, guys. And so you know how we always like to, well, I know people like to eat after the concert, but we eat before.

SPEAKER_00

You can't have that food heavy on you when you're going home.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, and we did go to BJ's brew house, so they love BJ's. It's really good. They have all different types of food there.

SPEAKER_00

The best thing about BJ's, I will tell you, in my opinion, argue with your mom, is um they have Pazookis.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's their main, I would say, star of the restaurant, the Pazookis.

SPEAKER_00

They have really good pizza. Um, their pizza is really good.

SPEAKER_01

And they have, which are my favorite, the pot sticklers, the chicken pot sticklers. I love it.

SPEAKER_00

Their steak is pretty good. We got steak, we had steak last time, and that steak was pretty good. My sister doesn't eat beef, she has some chicken.

SPEAKER_01

She had the buffalo chicken sliders, which are new. She said those are new with fries. We had the tri-tip steak with their mashed potatoes. I love their mashed potatoes. And then dad had chili, and I had their tomato mozzarella salad, which was really, really good. And we got the pazuki trio, which is a smaller one. Yeah, the little mini ones. It kind of reminds me of like an easy bake oven when you would put your treats in them.

SPEAKER_00

But much better, better, better taste.

SPEAKER_01

Better quality, of course. But I had the salted caramel and dad got the triple chocolate. And they have well, right now they're doing a monster pazookie where it's like a blue pazuki with like MMs, Oreos, so that's like their star. So they do alternate um seasonal pazookies, like they've had a butterfinger pazuki at one time, they had a s'mores pazo, so they just alternate based on the seasons.

SPEAKER_00

I will say we go, we try to figure out places. This time we just kind of were flying by the seat of our pants. Um we had a lot to do that day. So we just kind of were going by the seat of our pants. So I will say, you know, if you if there's some place in Houston that you think is really, really good that you suggest for us to go to, let us know, and we'll try to, you know, try to work that around concerts. We have a few more concerts in Houston this year, and so we'll try to go. We have some out of town as well, and you know, we'll but if you have a good restaurant that you think about, I mean, I'm from Houston, Houston is so large, you can easily miss things, so yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So there's always hidden gems around the area. So please recommend those gems and we will definitely go check them out. I actually decided to come up with a challenge for dad today for our chopped segment, and it's an 80s, 90s themed challenge. So the four mystery ingredients I have given him and a brief recap before the ingredients. You know, our chop segment is similar to the chop show where I give dad four mystery ingredients and he has to come up with a meal based off of the challenge. And of course, I do give him the ingredients before because he cannot come up with it on the spot.

SPEAKER_00

I'm not that good. I can cook, but my and my brain works pretty quickly, but coming up with a food item like that is really, really difficult. I have to sit and map it out.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so the four ingredients I have given him this time are chicken, honey, hot sauce, and pickles.

SPEAKER_00

And she told me I had to make it 80s, 90s theme. So I came up with, I call it, you know, gotta have a name. Can you stand the flavor? Hot honey pickle tour chicken. So it's it's like a 90s RB inspired recipe where every bite hits like a slow jam.

SPEAKER_01

He loves coming up with these names, guys.

SPEAKER_00

A key change in somebody dramatically pointing at the sky for no reason. It's gonna be Vods from New Edition, Tony Braxton and Boys of Man, plus chicken hot sauce, honey, and pickles doing all the background vocals. So the ingredients, aka the tour lineup, is chicken, honey. I'm like one third cup of honey, smooth like a reunion tour ballad, hot sauce, one-fourth cup. It brings the stadium energy, pickles, one cup chopped and a splash of juice, the unexpected ad-lib. And some garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt and pepper, onion powder, and you want to use some oil. You know my rule, you season to the ancestor tell you enough chives. So step one is if it isn't love, it's definitely marinate. So you you may you marinate it in the hot sauce, the honey, and the pickle juice in a bowl. That's your opening act. Smooth, dramatic, and slightly emotional, like new addition. Hitting the first harmony, and everybody's already standing up. You have to do that, add the chicken, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper, and let it marinate for 30 to 60 minutes while a nostalgia builds and someone in the kitchen starts singing background vocals that they didn't rehearse. Then step two is the my prerogative but make it chicken energy. So you heat oil in a skillet over medium high heat, you tear the chicken till it's golden crispy and acting like it's on its own stage. That's the moment where Body walks in like it's his world because then suddenly everything feels louder, bolder, and can slightly unhinged in the best way. It's about eight to ten minutes until fully done, you'll know. And then you have the end of the road glaze session. You pour the, you lower the heat and pour the remaining marinade over it until it's glossy and it sticks glaze that, you know, clings like a final tour hug you weren't ready for. This is Pure Boys The Man Energy. Smooth Harmony's turning a skillet into a slow jam. Step four, unbreak my heart, but add pickles.

SPEAKER_01

I love the little notes and titles that you have going on for these steps. Very cute, very demure.

SPEAKER_00

I was working on these. I've been working on these for days. Folding your chop pickles at the end so they stay crunchy and dramatic. This is your Tony Braxton Bridge moment, right? It's unexpected, emotional, and somehow makes everything taste better while you reconsider your life choices. And then you serve it like it's a 90s RB reunion tour. You can serve it over rice, that's the stadium slow dance section, or in a sandwich that's the backstage past energy, or straight from the pen while arguing over who hit the highest note. So did this taste like new additions starting the show perfectly synchronized? Bobby Brown's still in a spotlight mid song, or is the man making everyone emotional for no reason? And Tony Braxton breaking hearts through season and then pickles somehow getting a standing ovation. A full 90s RB concert, now in chicken form.

SPEAKER_01

That sounds really good. I'm very excited to try that. We all know he's gonna make it soon. You gotta check out our reels and our YouTube page, all our social media, he will be making it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we did the first one, which was uh the crunch taco bowl that we did, but it's not called that.

SPEAKER_01

It's called the um see, he creates these names and he can't even.

SPEAKER_00

I've created two more dishes since then.

SPEAKER_01

It was like a tortilla.

SPEAKER_00

TikTok, it's on our Dad Please Podcast, Instagram. You can go see it. Alex taped it. We're gonna do a little bit more longer segment for it. And Alex is in the process of we're gonna create a we want to create a cookbook with all these recipes that we come up with for you to try at home.

SPEAKER_01

Publish it and stuff.

SPEAKER_00

So and we're gonna rank them. We're gonna rank all of them. We did the first one, so we're gonna rank them, you know, our opinion. There's some things like again, these are recipes that I just created. They can be changed. We're trying to figure out like when we cook it the first time, like we cooked that the soup and it was really good, but there were some things I felt like could be better. So, you know, we're gonna work on it, but that's the part of it. That's the that's the thing. Just make these up and try to go and try to create and try to throw your own spin on it and try to figure out how you can make it better. That's what I always do with recipes, follow recipes exactly.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so he will be cooking that soon. So be on the lookout for that. And that is our food segment.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and we'll we will be putting longer videos on YouTube, Alex said, about it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so there's a little short one. We'll put a longer one to kind of get the full process of the ingredients that he does and how he cooks it. So something that this concert has made me think of, and I know this is gonna be very hard, especially for dad. So my question to dad is out of Tony Braxton, Boys to Men, New Edition, and Bobby Brown, who has the strongest album of all time. Now I did try to make this a little easier. So I did do a head to head for dad. So our head to head would be Don't Be Cruel, Bobby Brown's album versus Heartbreak New Editions album, and then Tony Braxton's album versus two boys to men album. So let's first do our first head-to-head, and that's gonna be the Don't Be Cruel Bobby Brown album versus Heartbreak New Edition album. So you did hear a couple of songs that are on the Don't Be Cruel album, but a little recap every little step, my prerogative, Ronnie, Don't Be Cruel, and then for the new edition, the Heartbreak album, we have our top songs If It Isn't Love, Can You Stand the Rain? Crucial. So which album?

SPEAKER_00

She loves doing this to me. She loves doing this to me.

SPEAKER_01

I do, and especially because this is his era. Like he knows more about these albums than I do.

SPEAKER_00

So that's because I live these albums, and it's just like I felt like I was going through these emotional moments with these people, and I had no idea I was crying because my little fifth grade girl that I like was like, Oh, you're cute, but I don't talk, I can't talk to any boys. Like, I thought I was really going through life and I was not. So um, this is really hard, but there's not too many albums I think is better than that don't be cruel album. He Bobby Bobby put his foot in that. He was working and he showed like he was all a new edition is talented, but nobody's had an album like Bobby, a single album like Bobby.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and I think he was really trying to make his way because he got out of New Edition, and I think he was trying to find his way without the group and being by himself, which was pretty cool. So that that wasn't really Don't Be Cruel was a really good album.

SPEAKER_00

It was Heartbreak Ass, Can You Stand Around? Come on, girl, let's go get wet. That's the album too. Like, but Bobby had just from Rony and you know, Rony was yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so there we go. So Don't Be Cruel album. Do you guys agree with him? Let us know. Let's go off to our next head-to-head, and that is Tony Broxan's album versus the Boys to Men album 2. And Tony Broxton, her album. Now, these are the top albums that are very popular. And Tony Broxan's album Has the Breathe Again, I Belong to You, How Many Ways, You Mean the World to Me. A couple songs on the Boys to Men album. The I don't know if I'm saying it right. Is it two or like second? It's two. It's two. Um, is on Bend It Knee, I'll Make Love to You, Water Runs Dry.

SPEAKER_00

So let me say this. I'll Make Love to You is one of my favorite songs ever. And that makes it stand out. But this Tony Braxton album that she put out was like song after song after song. And I love how many ways. And one thing about let me let me say this too. I love Tony. But Tony should have sung Love Should have brought you home last night. She did not sing that at the concert. She did a little snippet, but she didn't sing it. Like that was my song. I digress. Okay, let me go back for Alice pull me back in. I will say Tony Braxton, because that album was fire. I listened to that CD over and over and over again. And I love Boys of Men too. I thought that was a really good album. It's probably one of their better albums. And they, I remember when they when they did um I'll Make Love to You, they put the video out. People were running home to try to see the video. It was a good album. But I'm gonna go with Tony Braxton.

SPEAKER_01

Tony Braxton, okay.

SPEAKER_00

But I I'm biased to Tony too.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he he's obsessed with Tony Braxton. But to make this a little more harder, since you picked your top albums from those, let's do Tony Braxton head to head with Don't Be Cruel, Bobby Brown. So what will be our winner, our first place?

SPEAKER_00

Um, yeah. Can I have a tie? No tie.

SPEAKER_01

There's no ties in head to heads. There's only a winner.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my goodness. Let me what let me let me go back and look at what else was on this album. Oh my goodness, the pressure.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, there was some really good hit on both albums.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, Tony Braxton and 9193.

SPEAKER_01

The album covers were really nice as well. I mean, Bobby Brown was looking really nice in that one. Tony Broxton, her cover album was really good.

SPEAKER_00

Another sad love song. Oh, Love Should have brought you home was on this album. He had Giving You My Heart. Oh my goodness. Let me look at this Don't Be Cruel album. Oh my goodness. That's hard. Because that Tony out that first Tony album was the truth. But this Bobby Brown album was so good as well. I'm going, oh God, you're making me pick. I'm going to go with Tony uh Bobby Brown.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, guys. Bobby Brown, Don't Be Cruel album.

SPEAKER_00

No, no, no. I changed my mind. I'm going Tony Braxton. She has seven whole days. Breathe again, another salon. So I'm candlelight, spending my time with you. Tony, I listened to the whole album from top to bottom. I'm gonna go with Tony.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, Tony Braxton, guys. Please let us know what your head to head would be. And we will do a little post about our head-to-head, but he has picked Tony Braxton as the winner.

SPEAKER_00

I feel like I just cut my arm off to do that.

SPEAKER_01

So that leads me to ask these questions to you. Since you picked Tony Braxton, which artists do you think would dominate today? Would you still say Tony Braxton or would you say the other ones?

SPEAKER_00

I think it's all of them, right? Because they still look at look how they sold out. Yeah, they did sell out. That's true. And look how like you see a lot of the older artists coming back. Like you see the T.I. song, T.I. Coming Hard, Juby Coming. I saw a song from Method Man. A lot of the old school guys are coming back and they sound great. I don't want to insult and say they sound better than the new rappers. I'm biased because they come from my time, but I think that all of them would do well. I think Bobby probably would be do the best because people tend to like bad boys.

SPEAKER_01

And yeah, people were screaming the loudest for Bobby.

SPEAKER_00

My prerogative, those are things that people are still talking about, you know.

SPEAKER_01

So Yeah, which leads me to the question which album aged the best? Which I would have to say the Don't Be Cruel album.

SPEAKER_00

I think Tony's aged well too. I think all of them, because they're songs about love, right? Like a lot of them are love. Can you stay in the rain? Basically, like, are you able to take books coming at us? Can you stay in this rain and we still be together? You know, if it isn't love, then why do I feel like this? Why do I feel this way? Why did you stay on my mind? Like those songs, I think so. All of them have aged very well. Like people are still talking about, you know, don't be cruel and all that stuff like that. Tony, breathe again. Like people still going through heartbreak. So I think all of them have aged very well. I don't think it's anything really controversial about them. I think it's all about love and how, you know, like Tony, you mean the world to me. Boy's the man, people still talking about their mic love to you. They're still singing those songs on Bend and Knee.

SPEAKER_01

Well, and speaking of love, what is the ultimate love song? What is the, or I guess, who had the best love songs out of these, out of these people out of these four.

SPEAKER_00

I think Boy's the Man, I'll make love to you was really, really great. Can you stand the rain? Is really good, I think, because it tells you you're going through struggles. And can I can we are we strong enough to deal with this? So on Bend and Knee, Boys of Man had some really, really good love songs. I would probably say, I love how many ways do I love you, Tony Braxton? I belong to you. I can't breathe again, breathe again, breathe again. Can you know, you know, like I think those are really good, but maybe I'll say I'll make love to you.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so Boys to Men would be the best love songs.

SPEAKER_00

I think so.

SPEAKER_01

Well, you guys let us know what you think. And now it's time for our, I would probably say both our favorite segments. Our blind ranking segment.

SPEAKER_00

The one that makes me nervous, though.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. So for our blind ranking, since there were so many artists, we just combined the songs on the set list. Remember, they are set lists, so check those out before you head to a concert if that's your thing. But we decided to combine the songs on the set list and we will rank blindly our top five. So I will do that by spinning our wheel.

SPEAKER_00

It always makes me nervous.

SPEAKER_01

Our first song is On Bendit Knee. Boys to Men.

SPEAKER_00

I will go.

SPEAKER_01

I'm gonna say three.

SPEAKER_00

I'm gonna say five. I feel like there's songs a little better than that. So I'm gonna say five. Bob Bend and Knee is really good, but I just I think Boys and Men has better songs than that to me.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, our second song is Poison by Belle DeVoe Bell Belle DeVoe number three. I'm gonna say four. Now I kind of wish I put on Bend and Knee at five, but four, because I do like poison though. Okay, our third song is Umbreak My Heart.

SPEAKER_00

Unbreak My Heart. That's number two for me. Two. I'm gonna put that at two. So I have two, three, and five. So I have one and four left.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, he wasn't mad enough for me, Tony Braxton. Ooh, I love that song, but I'm gonna hold out so that'll have to be my five, even though I wish I didn't put that as my five.

SPEAKER_00

Four. I just feel like, oh god, if I'm gonna become mad at it.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, and our last one is Candy Girl by New Edition. I'll take that.

SPEAKER_00

Number one.

SPEAKER_01

That's one. I like that song.

SPEAKER_00

Take the girl. Candy Girl, you are my world.
