Hello and welcome to The Dad Please, the podcast where our dad and daughter talk about the things we love and the things we definitely don't always agree on. From concerts and city adventures to books, movies, and our favorite foods, each episode is full of stories, laughter, and a little generational debate.
SPEAKER_03I'm Hamlin, the Dad.
SPEAKER_01And I'm Alex, the daughter.
SPEAKER_03Together we're exploring our favorite places, understanding what we're reading and watching, trying new foods, and of course, telling more dad jokes than anyone actually asked for. So grab a snack, get comfortable, and enjoying the conversation.
SPEAKER_01Welcome to a dad, please. Welcome to Dad, please. It's me, Alex.
SPEAKER_03And it's me, Dad.
SPEAKER_01And welcome back to our show. So to start us off, you know we have to do our pop culture segment, and that is all about Coachella. So I'm pretty sure Dad kinda knows what Coachella is.
SPEAKER_03You talk about it all the time. Especially when Beyonce did her Coachella performance.
SPEAKER_01Best Coachella ever, guys. So Coachella is a music festival that takes place in California in the month of April. So it's two weekends, Friday through Sunday, um, one week and then the other week. So that basically is a singing festival, a music festival with all different types of music. So they have pop, rock, country, and then they always send out a headliner of who's gonna headline Coachella and then the other music artists. So essentially, who headlined Coachella this time around? It was Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber, and Carol G. Now, apparently the show was really, really good. And they brought out a lot of special guests.
SPEAKER_03Um Becky G there too. I thought um something with Becky G. Was it at Coachella?
SPEAKER_01Maybe, maybe Becky G was there. I always watch it on YouTube, guys. I don't go to Coachella. That is on my bucket list. I want to go to Coachella at least once. I always watch the live stream on YouTube, which it's free, and you get better quality if you don't get there close enough. So, Sabrina Carpenter, I know that she did bring out Madonna in her second weekend. And then Justin Bieber brought out Sizza and he did bring out Billy Eilish. And I heard Justin Beaver did a lot of his OG songs, which was pretty cool. And then I'm not sure who Carol G brought out, but I do know that Sway Lee was there and he did bring out French Montana for his unforgettable song. So it's just a music festival in the desert. Lots of celebrities go, so you can spot celebrities there and a lot of influencers. So I do know that Kylie Jenner was there, Northwest was actually there.
SPEAKER_03You only need Kardashians.
SPEAKER_01Yes, I do love the Kardashians, but Northwest was there, and during one of her, I guess one of the sets with young Doug, he spotted Northwest in the crowd and he was like, Hey, watch out for Northwest, watch out for my niece because she's too young to be here by herself, essentially. Other stars, or I guess they're more influencers and stars that were there, were some of my favorite people from Love Island. I am obsessed with that reality show. You do love la it is coming back this summer. But uh Nick and Alandria were there, so check out her vlog. And then also Leah and Michelle, or sorry, Leah and Miguel were there as well.
SPEAKER_03The only reason I know these people because once the show is on, that's all she talks about. It confirms her life.
SPEAKER_01Yes, it's coming back on this summer, so I'm so excited to see that. But that basically was Coachella, and there's I think also um Giveyon performed, um, Labyrinth performed. Now Labyrinth has brought out Zendaya before, but I don't think he brought out Zendaya this time. And then Teddy Swims was there. Also, I don't know if I'm saying this right, but Cat's Eye. They're from their group that sings the really popular song from the anime that my cousin really liked. Demon Hunters, the Golden Song. They were there as well. But I do want to go to Coachella, but I will only go to Coachella if I am rich because poor Coachella seems horrible and miserable. If you watch people's TikTok videos, I will not be camping in my car to see these people. I need to go with some money. I need to have like Kylie Jenner money to go to Coachella and stay in a house or something because that's insane.
SPEAKER_03But I heard Justin Bieber didn't like wasn't like there's like I haven't seen any videos about it though, right?
SPEAKER_01There were debates about Justin Bieber not being great at all. Like people said they didn't like his set. I thought it was good. I saw it on YouTube. I mean, it wasn't like a showy set. He was kind of sitting there like on his computer, but he played a lot of his OG songs. Like his he played One Less Lonely Girl, where he brought Billie Eilish up on stage. That's where he brought her up. But I mean, he he wasn't like, I guess people wanted him to perform like a full-blown out performance. And I don't think he didn't do that. But I thought he was still good. But I like Justin Beaver, so I've been a fan since day one. So I thought he did really great. And Sabrina Carpenter did really good. But I mean, nothing could ever beat Beyoncé's Coachella. I'm biased, but I see her Coachella every year on Netflix Homecoming, and for me, it's always gonna be Beachella.
SPEAKER_03But isn't but didn't um do a show, right? Meg Lastalia did Coachella. Meg was good. We watched that together. Yeah, Meg was good. That yeah, I remember that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and Lady Gaga has performed there as well. She did it last year and she was pretty good as well. Sabrina Carpenter put on a good show too. I like Sabrina Carpenter, but forever it's gonna be Bachella. So I really want to go. I don't know if dad would ever go to Coachella with me.
SPEAKER_03I may. Depends on who's performing. It doesn't really matter who performs. You take me to concerts, I don't know about all the time.
SPEAKER_01It's an outdoor music festival. I don't think dad's ever been to one. I have not. I've been to ACL, and ACL's kind of like a smaller version, and it's in Austin. And I love ACL, but what I've realized about music festivals is I like my chair. That's why I said I need to be rich. I need some bodyguards around me or something because I do not like people shoving or pushing. And the thing about these music festivals, if you want to see them up close, you really have to be there all day. I saw this one girl's TikTok, I can't remember who. She sat at opening for Justin Beaver and waited till 10 p.m. to see him. For 10 hours, she was sitting there in the front, just waiting. And I've actually done that at ACL for Chappelle Roan when we went to go see her. We were there at like 8 a.m. and she didn't perform till 8 p.m. But you have to be there early for their sets.
SPEAKER_03That seems um a lot. It seems to be a lot.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So you have to really, really be there like pretty much all day. I mean, and you have to have friends because unless you're gonna put a foley catheter in to pee, you really have to have friends to hold your spot or go get food because you're sitting there all day long and it's the desert and it's hot and there's a lot of dirt flying in.
SPEAKER_03And don't you have to walk like at a certain spot? Do you have to walk?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you have apparently you have to walk into Coachella like miles upon miles because the Uber can only drop you off so far. Or I know people park their car and they have like a whole thing where they have to stand in a line for a shower, they have like car tents, they have where you can camp out insane. So that's why I I just I couldn't do it. I really want to go, but like I said, I need some money, like big time money. But that's what I saw on TV. But what dad and I actually did this week is we went to the Houston or we participated in the Houston Book Crawl, and the Houston Book Crawl basically takes place throughout the whole month of April, and it features a lot of independent bookstores that you can go visit and buy a book, or just you don't have to buy anything, you can just visit them and get a stamp. So once you get 15 stamps, you can turn it in for a raffle prize. So this goes on from April 1st to April 30th. There's 30 days in April. April 31st.
SPEAKER_03April 30th. It's only 30 days.
SPEAKER_0130 days, so the whole month. And it's basically bookstores all around Houston. So you have bookstores, like the bookstores we visited. We went to one in Missouri City.
SPEAKER_03Really nice, a really nice area. It was hidden. I've been we live right down the street from it. I didn't even know it was there.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they're very hidden sometimes too. I mean, you have the bigger independent bookstores like the murder by the book. We've been to that one too. Um, that basically is the only murder bookstore in Houston that sells thrillers, mysteries, murder, murder everything, murder merch, shirt, t-shirts, bags, and all of that stuff. And then they have another one called Kinder Stores, that's a black-owned bookshop. So they sell candles, they sell black merchandise, they sell a lot of black authors. They have another one that's actually a Latin-owned bookstore, and that's called Dreamer's Books, and that is in a factory, it's in Ironworks, actually. I don't know if dad's ever been to Ironworks.
SPEAKER_00I have not.
SPEAKER_01So Ironworks is basically like a warehouse with different little shops in it, and they have the Dreamers books there. That's Latin American, so only Latin authors. The lady sells Latin authors only.
SPEAKER_03Well, the the area we went to was kind of like that with like little, it was a little shoppy area that back then.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, there was a restaurant, there was like little city I'm talking about. Yeah, and then so I think most of the bookshops are like around there, and then they have just different types of um, what do they call it? Like mobile bookstores. So you can visit three mobile bookstores which are scattered. So those are pretty hard to find because you have to get like their location from Instagram of where they're gonna be and the dates and the times, which I'm actually trying to convince dad to open a mobile bookstore where we sell food and coffee. My mom is actually on board, she can make the coffee. I'm trying to get dad to cook and we could sell books.
SPEAKER_03She just she's just put that out on the internet. Now everybody's gonna know her idea and Mike Dillett.
SPEAKER_01That's true. Maybe I'll edit that out. But there's a lot of those, but I do think that would be cool to sell books and everything. But I really enjoy doing the book crawl. It happens every April. You really need to go out there and support your independent bookstores. I am a big reader along with my aunt. We both love to read. We try to go to book festivals, book cons, and all of that stuff. She actually couldn't do the book crawl for me because she's it's her busy season at work, so she wasn't here. But it is a really fun time and they have really different ideas that they do. Like I know one shop really sells pens and stuff, so like stationary. There you go. They sell say stationary items with their books, so that's the theme of their shop. Uh it's really cool to go see your local bookstores and keep them in business. So highly recommend.
SPEAKER_03I like to read, but Alex and my sister love to read, and I'm a reader of convenience. Um, I like to have things where I can read on my phone if I'm somewhere. Like the other day, I was walking on a track, I just did my Audible book. But um, it's good to go out and to and to support the small, smaller businesses. There's nothing wrong with Barnes and Noble, but we need to support these people who are trying to stay in business and trying to grow. So, I mean, I think the book crawl is a really great thing because it gives people business that you wouldn't even know. Like I said, the one in Missouri City, I've never even knew that whole little area was back there. So it's very important to go and try to support these smaller businesses and try to help them, you know, keep their dream going.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and it's really cool because I mean these people, I remember speaking with the lady who owned the Laddin bookstore, and she said that she was in the book crawl last year, but she actually was in a mobile bookstore. So she had a not a van, like a RV type of bookstore. And she says that she actually finally was able to purchase her own shop and be stationary. So it is actually pretty cool that she went from to see her progression, and she was just telling me how excited she was that she actually got to have her own bookstore, and it was really cool because her bookstore is actually the only Leiden-owned bookstore in Houston, which it's really cool to see bookstores like that in this city. They have Liden-owned, black-owned, they have a murder-owned bookstore, and they actually have a romance-only bookstore. So it is pretty cool to see those. But we actually have our spotlight. Of course, we have to have a spotlight of our week, and we're actually going to bring out a special guest to tell you what we listened to this week and why we listened to it. And it's actually our aunt, his sister.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, she's not my aunt. I don't have that respect for her.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, she is my The Akisha. She's actually the one who went to the concert with us last week to the new edition concert, but we couldn't get her on. So we actually got her on this one, and here she is.
SPEAKER_03We had to pay her a lot of money to make her stay because she was trying to go home, but you know, we had to drop some money in her bank account. We really didn't send her no money.
SPEAKER_01She's doing this for free because we're not making money off of this.
SPEAKER_03Oh, she was gonna do it for free. I was gonna tell my mama.
SPEAKER_01Welcome to our show, Thea Keisha.
SPEAKER_03Hello, we're glad you're here.
SPEAKER_02I don't know if I'm glad I'm here now, but um, I mean, that was a live.
SPEAKER_01Well, we will tell you why what we were listening to and why. So we actually were listening to the romantic album by Bruno Mars that was released this year. We have been listening to that because we went to his concert that actually occurred yesterday, April 22nd, and it was such a fun time. So the album essentially has songs such as Risk It All, Cha Cha Cha, I Just Might, God Was Showing You Off, On My Soul, Nothing Left, Dance With Me, Something Serious, and Why You Wanna Fight.
SPEAKER_03So Why You Wanna Fight. That's the Song. I love that song.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's such a good song. And one of the fun facts about this album is that he influenced it with his Puerto Rican and Filipino roots. So the album features Mexican and Cuban inspired sounds, and that actually is shown in some of his music videos, such as Risk It All, where they have a mariachi band and they have a Congo player named Daniel Rodriguez in the video. So my favorite song from the album was Why You Wanna Fight. That's my all-time favorite song. What's yours, Dad? All right, let's ask our guest first, since she's our special guest. The Akisha, what's your favorite song?
SPEAKER_02I really do like Why You Wanna Fight. It's just like the music, the melody, his sound in that song, his range. It's pretty awesome. Dad.
SPEAKER_03I would go with, you know, Why You Wanna Fight too. I love the song. I like the whole album, it's good. The whole album is good, but I like, you know, he's like, Why you wanna fight with me, baby? Wouldn't you measure to make love time? I love that. Love that song. It's just he said we're that was the theme last night was love. He was gonna be talking about love all night.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that was the theme. And the concert was actually at a different stadium this time than normal.
SPEAKER_03It's not the biggest winners up the.
SPEAKER_01It was at NRG.
SPEAKER_03NRG, the second stadium.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so that's actually the first concert we had this year that was there because our last ones have been at the Toyota Center. So we had to, I won't tell you where we parked, but we parked in a garage and took a metro rail that took us straight to NRG. And we got there, I want to say actually right on time to see the opening act, which there actually was an opening act this time. It was Leon Thomas, which I was really excited to see. There's only been DJs at the concerts we've been going to, but this time Leon Thomas was there, and they did have a DJ.
SPEAKER_03They had a DJ from like the doors opened at seven, and then Leon came on at 7:30, I think.
SPEAKER_01So 7:45.
SPEAKER_03745-ish, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, 745-ish.
SPEAKER_03They did eight, about eight songs, and then um and he finished with Mutt, which I love Mutt.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's his most popular song. So he did finish with that. Before we saw him, though, dad likes to get ahead. I tell him not to get ahead, and he does. But before we saw him, we actually stopped and got merch. And when I tell you that merch was expensive, it was expensive. I have never paid that much for merch at a concert before.
SPEAKER_02T-shirt stores$70. Started at$55.$70. And then a long sleeve was$115. I was like, oh my god. Yeah, it was insane prices.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, we should have um hit the people on the outside that were selling the boot bags up.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03We should have hit them up. They were nice shirts. They should, we should have hit them up.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was expensive. We got the Keisha got a shirt. She got the$55 one that was white with his album cover on it. And we'll post that later. And then I actually got a cute tote bag that was his album cover. His album cover. And then I got a silksonic album. And we actually got a ticket for one of my aunt's best friends. She actually went with us.
SPEAKER_03Very excited about going, and she had a great time, and it was worth it. My sister and her have been friends. So she's like my she's like our little sister.
SPEAKER_02Since they were like 11?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, since they were in middle school. So they've been friends forever, over 20 years. And so it was a great time. And you know, we um it worked out because we got an added benefit out of it. So that was really good.
SPEAKER_01We did. We were purchasing other concert tickets during the concert. We purchased Usher and Chris Brown tickets, and it was completely worth it. So she helped us out with that. But we did have to ask permission from my other aunt, which is their youngest sister. She's the baby, if she could go.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, because I told her, um, I was like, we can ask Christina, and Alex like you better ask the destiny first because you know she's gonna be mad. And I told her and she did in wood. So she told me she gave me permission to ask Christina, which would be better. Destiny is not really, she's not really the the best Bruno Mars fan, so it would have been good. Christina is more of a Bruno Mars fan, so it worked out.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was really fun. So we got our merch, and then what did my aunt happen to spot that dad got excited for?
SPEAKER_02I was on the lookout for the dip and dots because I do know that my brother likes dipping dots when he goes to a concert, and everyone passed it up and I said dip and dots, and then I don't think he heard me, so then I was like, There are your dipping dots.
SPEAKER_03Yes, dipping dots. You know, you everybody who's watched every episode, I think I talk about dipping dots every episode.
SPEAKER_00Yes, he does.
SPEAKER_03It used to be called ice cream of the future. I tell I say that all the time, too. That's how old we are. Um, but dipping dots are what they're and they were amazing, so we all got dipping dots. They got small losers. Um, I got the biggest one. I wish they had a bigger one than that one, but you know.
SPEAKER_01And then he got ice cream after too from another place.
SPEAKER_03So not ice cream, Italian ice is healthy, it's healthy. Blue Hawaiian, it's healthy, and that was really good, so I got there because I couldn't go. Shout out to Jeremiah's. That's my place. I love Jeremiah's. I haven't been in like two days. I might go today.
SPEAKER_01Well, it's shaved ice or Italian ice with a lot of sugar, but he he did get that out there.
SPEAKER_03Stuff like you're hating.
SPEAKER_01Well, we it was actually good.
SPEAKER_03I tasted it before, but um the blue Hawaiian, it's not Jeremiah's, but you know, Jeremiah's is like perfect. Yeah, don't get me started, hell Jeremiah, so do not get me started.
SPEAKER_01He's obsessed. But once we got there, Leon Thomas put on a really good show, and Bruno Mars actually came out pretty decent timing. He came out like at 850.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, he was he came out. Leon was out and it wasn't long before he came back. Leon finished, he's like, take your time. What's the rush? The rush is to get Bruno Mars out here, so it was good.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he came out like an 850 and he started off with a bang. He came out really good. And his stage, well, his stage was kind of far, like it was it didn't come out like most concerts do. It just kind of sat there, but he was really good and he came out with risk it all.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I told I told my friend the same thing about the stage. I told my friend Donna about the stage. I was like, it wasn't like some of the other stages where you it's really where they walk down and they and you can see more of the stuff. He was on one stage pretty much.
SPEAKER_01I mean the stage was big, but yeah, like Beyonce her stage came out. Um, Usher's did as well, but Usher was like roller skating on his stage, but his just kind of stayed there. But he was still good. Um, he came out with Risk It All. And Bruno Mars, like I told my aunt, I wish she would write a song about me. Good or bad, I will take a song written about me by Bruno Mars.
SPEAKER_02Well, he actually started off, like it started off with the video with the prayer over the audience and over the performance, which was really good. And then he came out with risk it all. And he danced the entire time.
SPEAKER_01The entire time, and his vocals were on point every single song.
SPEAKER_03I will say, I tell people all the time, there's not many artists. I think they're really amazing to do what they do, sing, dance, all that. But Bruno Mars is one of the few people that I say that I've seen in concert, and he sounds probably better than his record. Um, Celine Dion was like that. Celine Dion's voice is amazing, gets better in person. Chris Stapleton voice better in person. Um, even Pink, I did not know Pink could sing the way that she could, like better in person than in real life. And Bruno Mars is on that level where his voice was amazing while he was dancing, while he was moving. Let me say I love Chris Brown, and this is not a shot. Chris Brown can dance his butt off, but Chris Brown will hit you with a uh-uh, one, two, and then he goes back to singing. Bruno would say dancing the whole time. The only person I've seen dance more than Bruno is Sierra.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and he danced the entire performance, and he well, I would say you have to know the romantic album. I will tell you that. He did basically the whole album.
SPEAKER_03I don't think basically I think he did, because it's only like eight or nine songs. I think he did.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think he sang every single song, so you have to know that album. So don't go to the concert expecting to hear only his old music, which he did play a sprinkle of old music throughout the show, but you have to know the romantic album. The first portion of it was basically the whole romantic album.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, then he missed um 24 carat in there, and then he mixed treasure and treasure, yeah. I do like too. Oh, it's in we're talking, I do like God was showing off. I like that song too. And he did the camera with that one. Then he had people in the crowd. They had some people they was up there, like I was like, okay, you showing off right now. They were good. Okay.
SPEAKER_01It was this angel cam, and there was this one girl on there, and she was really pretty. She was good. And he was like, Okay, let's go back to you, girl. And she was ready for that camera.
SPEAKER_02She did it real, real good. I like the homage that he paid basically to James Crown with the whole code and like lifting it up, and it set the romantic on it.
SPEAKER_03Um when you put it down, it said man, and then you open it up, yeah.
SPEAKER_02And I like told Alex that Bruno Mars was like born during the wrong time. Like, he definitely has like so many soulful vibes, and he like everything about him is like you can tell, like the influences came from like James Brown and like Michael Jackson and like the Commodores and like you know, temptations, and like the thing my brother and I said that was funny was like they keep going back to that mic. If you know old school music and old school dancing, they always went back to the mic. And I just like how much like his music has so much soul, which I think sometimes like we don't get as much RB as we used to, and I won't get into that on y'all's podcast. But I do like that his music reminds me of the stuff that I grew up with, like music from the 50s, 60s, 70s. 80s, 90s. It's like has all that influence in it. And he's just uh it was incredible. It didn't feel real. And I'm glad I got to go. Thanks to my brother. Yes, thank you, Dad.
SPEAKER_01Shout out to Dad. Oh, I guess me too. I did pay for the tickets to school. But it was, he also did, which I didn't know any of the songs, but he did like a 70s. Oh yeah, he did a 70s.
SPEAKER_03He did he said what each came out and did oh girl.
SPEAKER_02And then he did it on top of a very old like 1960. I think it was like a 1960s car, and that came up from the stage, and he did Oh Girl by the Shy Lights, and he didn't miss you. I miss you.
SPEAKER_03You are everything. You are everything.
SPEAKER_02And it was like a mix of like 70s and 80s.
SPEAKER_03And he did he ended with I Wanna Be Your Man.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03It was so good. Okay, Bruno. I was like, okay, Bruno, I'll see you.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I didn't know those songs.
SPEAKER_03She was looking at us like, what is he singing?
SPEAKER_02And I and I feel like we failed her that she doesn't know like 70s and like 80s hits like that. Cause yeah, I was like, then I was asking, like, did you watch the five heartbeats? Cause like some of those songs are like on the five heartbeats, and like and a lot of them are in like the 70s and 80s movies. And so it was yeah, it was amazing.
SPEAKER_01It was cool when he stood on the call and was singing. I mean, he could sing, so it was pretty cool to see that. That was nice.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, he was up dancing on it with the microphone. He had the microphone stand with him everywhere, pretty much. Yeah, but he was like, you know.
SPEAKER_01And he has such like um, my aunt said range. I mean, the mic was like down low, and you could hear him hit those high notes. And it was actually well jumping ahead, but he brought out what not you jumping ahead.
SPEAKER_03Not you jumping ahead.
SPEAKER_01He brought out Silksonic. So he did, they did like a little competition at the end of their little set or their section. So that was they played their popular hits from Silksonic.
SPEAKER_02And Anderson was really funny because Reno Mars was like, It's so great to be sharing a stage with you. He was like, I agree, it's so great to be sharing the stage.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, they were funny, they were very you can tell like brands and they ended up there, yeah, enjoy each other.
SPEAKER_02And that they they have a lot of chemistry together and very, very good singers. I like what they do with Blast on the Pass when they brought that on, and Anderson was like in a spaceship kind of thing.
SPEAKER_03The blast off song, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, and they did their I think they only had like what six songs that they did together.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it was six songs. But they they hit it, they killed you with the laugh two, smoke out the window, leave the door open. They were, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, those were the two most popular, and that's where they did their like mini sing-off at the last one where they kept going against each other. And even Bruno told Anderson he had Anderson had dropped the mic, and Bruno was like, uh-uh, I'll pick that back up.
SPEAKER_03He's like, We're not done here.
SPEAKER_01So that was really, really fun. I was glad he did bring out Silksonic in that section.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, the flow of the concert was really good. I was like, even when I was up that said, Bruno Mars is so talented, he probably could even open a restaurant. If he opened a restaurant, we can call it Mars Bar.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that would be cool. Look, Bruno, we give you an idea.
SPEAKER_03Nicker dead that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Oh my gosh. That's a dad joke. That is a dad joke. He loves his dad jokes. Oh my gosh, dad, please. And the last section, I felt like the concert went by too fast.
SPEAKER_02It wasn't fast, but it was like we were halfway through, and I was like, wait, what is happening?
SPEAKER_01Yes, I was like, I can't believe it's almost over. It went by so fast. I looked down and we're already because we always look at the set list while the songs are going to see what's coming up.
SPEAKER_03We have to leave, we have to leave early.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so we were looking, and then dad's like, Oh, he's already like on the 12th song. I'm like, what in the world? Like, that was so fast. It was a magical night, and he the last section of his set list was more older songs.
SPEAKER_03He didn't marry you, which is funny because my sister said, I love that song, but if a man ever proposed it to me like that, it's not gonna happen.
SPEAKER_02I just said that song is in the same vein as we might as well do this.
SPEAKER_03Janet at the altar. Oh, that's your thing, though.
SPEAKER_02I'm like, I think why I'm looking for something dumb to do, baby. While you marry like, do not, do not like we not get no older. Like, come on now. That is not a proposal.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well, if Bruno sings it to you, it will be.
SPEAKER_03If you can get Bruno to sing it, it don't matter what Bruno saying, he can sing the ABC, and I'll be like, yeah, some woman will be like, yes.
SPEAKER_01I I wonder who some of these songs are written about. Like, I do, because each song is different. And I'm like, who did he write these songs about?
SPEAKER_02Especially the one where he was like, Yo, bad kids running around how it's like who bad kids was running around his pet house. Are you taking them on trips and they not doing nothing? Yes.
SPEAKER_01That's what I'm like, who are these songs about? I want to know, Bruno. Please release a story.
SPEAKER_03I like what I do like about Bruno's albums too, is he he made the comment, he said he doesn't make a lot of songs. He said, Because if I haven't gotten you by seven or eight, he said, then I'm not gonna get you. And I like that he put so much into those eight to ten songs that he puts on his album because then that whole album that he produced, the romantic, he could have released anything off that album and it would have been a hit. Anything.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was a really good album. And he, like he said, it was in his romance era.
SPEAKER_03He said, We're gonna talk about love. He's talking about and then we're gonna talk about each other, everything, even a good, like, why you wanna fight? He said, If something happens, just put the phone on and play this song and he starts singing. I said, Okay, I'm keeping that in my back pocket.
SPEAKER_01He was really smooth and he did one little section that I like too. I thought, you know, sometimes when artists do a combination of songs that's short, but he actually sang through most of the songs. He did um Die With a Smile, which I love, It Will Rain. He did When I Was Your Man, and those songs, he actually sang them pretty long. He didn't just sing like a snippet, he sang through the songs.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he did a really good melody of that when he combined that all together. Um, I think like two, another highlight for me of the evening was when he sung up her because Oh, that's our song. Yeah, that's our song.
SPEAKER_03Um, I got that on video too.
SPEAKER_02So every year for Alex's birthday, I'll call her and then I'll just start singing that it's your birthday, and then we just kind of go back and forth. So uh I was really excited to see him like sing that live.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's our birthday song post too. Like, whenever we post our birthday tribute to each other, that's the song that we always used. And he did sing that, and it was really cool. And not only can Bruno sing, but he can or dance and dance, he can play some instruments. He was playing the piano, the guitar. Like, he is an all-around talented man. The bongo line goes when he first came out, which was yeah.
SPEAKER_03Bruno got me sitting here thinking I might need to go take guitar lessons because he was making a guitar tote.
SPEAKER_02And the hooligans, we cannot not talk about his band. Like the hooligans are amazing, they can sing, they can dance, and again, they always come back to the mic. If any of you have seen The Temptations, you know that's something they talk about in that movie. But I the hooligans were amazing, and the way they played those instruments that I love a bass guitar, and that man made that bass guitar talk to you, and the horns. Oh my god, the horns were amazing.
SPEAKER_01The saxophone, the music's great, it was just amazing, and they all have swag.
SPEAKER_02And they can all sing, like, because they cause he went to do a changeup when they did Versace on the floor, which my brother was sad.
SPEAKER_03I was bad because Bruno didn't sing it, but I understood what he was doing.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they just played instruments, they played instruments, but then they sung part of it, and it was just like I and I just like couldn't get over even the talent of the band, the hooligans. And yeah, shout out to them too, because amazing.
SPEAKER_01It was an amazing concert.
SPEAKER_03All I'm gonna say is it's like we're three for three. So um, all I know is people better come with it. And it even like for me is like four for four because Alex didn't get to go to the rodeo concert, but you know, he he did his thing too. Uh Harga McCullum was amazing too. So, like, just great concerts. And even at the rodeo, to do that at the rodeo is impressive because the rodeo is not the best place for concert, but Parkham did a Parker did a good job as well. But like, no, we the concerts this year have been crazy good this year.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and we saw it in a good section again. We were 138.
SPEAKER_03That's me. I take credit for that.
SPEAKER_01Yes, he did pick our seats and the NRG, it's the football stadium.
SPEAKER_03Go Texans this our year.
SPEAKER_01Maybe hopefully, Texas fan through and through, guys. He's gonna be.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, don't give me a shut on the rockets. The Rockets maybe stay up for that lost the other night. I wanted to stole something in my TV, but we we digress, continue.
SPEAKER_01I'm sorry, I guess I yes, but and so back to what the outfits were too. There was we kind of went with like a 70s theme, so we did like a really cute shirt with bell bottom jeans and sunglasses and and we did like um the shoes that we wore were an o to the 70s, so I brought up some shoes from from home.
SPEAKER_02Um, and so la I want to say in the last two years, they've been bringing out a lot of like shoes that are a throwback to like what was in the 70s. So I I I paired Alex with a red heel and a dark jean, and her red heel had like uh it has a funky uh heel on it that looks like a heel from the 70s, and then the shape of it also looks like it's from the 70s, and then I had on a mustard yellow with a platform heel that again is just a throwback to the 70s, and also they made us very, very tall. I'm only five feet, and those shoes make me about five nine.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we were taller than dad, I think, or almost just as tall as him.
SPEAKER_00I think so.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was a high shoe, and we did a 70s theme, and dad wore a Bruno shirt as well, but the theme kind of like people were dressed up as Bruno.
SPEAKER_03Yo, that was pretty cool. Like the hat, the silk pajamas, the people had the pressace. They should have thrown it on the floor at the concert.
SPEAKER_02There was a person that sat next to us, and they had the curly hair, they had the hat, even the jacket. Like Bruno. It looked like Bruno. Oh, and the cut, like even like their coloring was like they look like Bruno Mars. And like you could tell, like, it was their color.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that was a doppelganger of Bruno, like an older version of hair morse.
SPEAKER_02Beautiful. I'm talking about those are some beautiful curls.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and people did his, I think it's his 24k alpha bone that they did that look like pajamas, like you're in silk pajamas. That was really the thing. People dressed like that, and I like the costume that this couple wore. It was the romantic costume, the blue one that they wore and they dressed alike. That was really cool. I saw that. But I will say again, wear comfortable shoes, guys, because it's a walk into the NRG system.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, the NRG, we it's like it's almost a mile from when you get off the shuttle. Or some people park there. Parking there is not what I would want to do with my life because getting out is like the devil. Um, like we said before, when we went to Beyonce concert, we got stuck in there. This time we left right on Uptown Funk. I wanted to see the whole thing, but they were like, um, Christina and and Keisha and Alex, like, we probably need to leave halfway through the song. And so um we left and we were the first ones at the bus, but we like it was bad. You're getting shoved in the shuttle, and and my sister though, like people touch her, there's people all alone you can't breathe. Like, I I'm I'm a little um I have a phobia about being closed in where I can't really move. So I don't think I breathe until I got off the shuttle because it's just it's so many people everybody trying to get to the car and leave.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it was a it was a ton of people. Luckily, I stood next to like people who were funny, so like we kept like making jokes back and forth to each other, but and then when we got off, the lady was like uh we got off on the first stop, and the lady was like, lucky you. Yeah, it was packed, we were packed in like sardines.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you and people literally are pushing people in, and we're trying to get out, and Alex is like, push the people back. I said, Alex, I'm not trying to find my side, Dad, we're gonna go stuck here. I'm like, we're gonna get out.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I didn't want to miss our exit. So and I was already out, yeah, yeah, and we had to because we were in the back, so we had to like shove our way to the front to get to the doors. And if any of you guys have ever rode the metro metro rail, it it's pretty packed. I mean, it's not a big area, and that's what we took to get to the concert.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and then I think too, Alex and I are are very small humans, like we're tiny humans, so like I can easily squeeze my way in and out of places, which I typically do, but my brother is not a tiny human, so he's a man, baby. So he has like, like, usually we're just like push him, get him out the way. Um, and that doesn't work.
SPEAKER_03So yeah, Alex wanted me. I said, she's like, she's like, Dad, you can fight. I said, I don't want to fight, I just want to get out there and enjoy our concert. Giving, you know, like it's like my my drug, and now I have to come down from that. And it was just, he was just again, like I tell people, concerts are the way I Ray I rank them to is because I say, like, would I go see them tomorrow? And I would go see Bruno Mars today, tomorrow, the next day, the day after. Like, he was that good.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he was so amazing. So I guess it's time to rank base. Oh, well, the Akeisha doesn't know dad's ranking scale, so dad'll have to briefly explain how he ranks his concerts with the system he came up with.
SPEAKER_03I mean, I can I'll tell her the five, the five stars of Jackson Five. I already know. I don't have to give her any other ones. Yeah. The four, I base it on um how many people are in the group, but five stars, like I'm it has my Jackson 5 ring. I don't have to tell her the four, which is um the four star play and the three is Destiny Child, because I already know hers is gonna be uh Jackson 5 as well. It was that good. We didn't sit down the whole night. Like, we the entire night we didn't sit down. Um Leon Thomas was good. I thought he was the perfect opening act for him. And he's like, you know, give it up with my big brother, and then a few minutes later, he didn't even they didn't even let the emotions died on after he finished it. I'm a dog, I'm a mutt. Then, you know, a few minutes later, here come Bruno, risk it all, praying for us, and then hitting it. And let me tell you, Bruno, your prayer work, my guy, because that concert was everything.
SPEAKER_01It was a good show.
SPEAKER_03So Jackson 5 for me. I said all I have to say, Jackson 5 for me.
SPEAKER_01It's a Jackson 5 for me, and I want to see him in Vegas now too.
SPEAKER_02I agree with that Jackson 5 rating, and um, yeah, I would like to see it in Vegas in a more intimate setting as well.
SPEAKER_01Our um family friend Christina actually saw him in Vegas, and that's where you can't have any cell phones at all. But she says that it's very intimate. She's like, there was only 5,000 people, you're basically huddled around the stage, and then he, of course, plays his hits from his um catalog, so his top hits.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, Christina told me like the first song that he sings, like he says it's like, I took y'all cell phones, like he sang that in the Vegas show. And um, like it's just like we were looking because we've seen Mary J Blige twice and like she's doing a residency. I was like, How much are her tickets? Like, because I will hopefully she would sing all the hits because the second concert we went to, she didn't sing all our hits, but you know what I mean. But that, you know, like the intimate setup, they said that same thing about Usher, they said that was really cool with Usher.
SPEAKER_01Vegas has more intimacy, and Vegas is a showy city, so I'm sure they really put on a show there anytime anyone goes. But you know, of course, before the concert, we did have to eat. We love to eat, and we actually finally went to uh Donialetti's that dad's the wanting to go to, and Beticia went.
SPEAKER_03Shout out to Brianna, our waitress. She was amazing. Shout out Breeze.
SPEAKER_02She has so much personality. If you go there, you should ask for Bree.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, Fabri, she was amazing.
SPEAKER_01She is she was a gem. She was so much personality. She told you the stuff. She's like, okay, babes, okay. And I was like, You're so sweet. Great recommendations. She was very knowledgeable. Yeah, she was good. And so Doña Letty's is basically a Mexican restaurant, but they're El Salvadorian, so it's more of a El Salvadorian food.
SPEAKER_02El Salvadorian food. Because the rice tastes different, the beans are a little bit different than Mexican. Then Mexican, yeah.
SPEAKER_03You give you a lot of food. You get your money worth. Like I couldn't even eat all mine. I got a quesadilla and uh and a surf and turf quesadilla, which was amazing, and I brought it home with me because I couldn't eat it all. Um, Alex got a chicken quesadilla, and Keisha got a chicken burrito.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I can even finish half of the half of the burrito.
SPEAKER_01No, it's big. Their portions are really big. So, and we also got queso as an appetizer, but their portions are like the size of our heads.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, they're huge. They're huge. You get your money's worth, so you're like, oh, this. I don't feel like it was expensive. So for my surfing turf, it was$23, which I think for a quesadilla with fajitas and shrimp in it for$23, as big as it was, and I could make another meal out of it. I don't think it was that bad at all. So they're not overly priced. You see a lot of stuff about them on TikTok and things like that. And you know, sometimes you're like, these people are overhyped. They're they're underhyped, they're not hyped up enough of how good they are. They are really, really good. And you know, their whole story, go check out their story, how the restaurant started um with their mom and how it blew up. I think it's an amazing, amazing story. And I think you support people like that. And but not just because you support them because of their story, but you support them because the food is good too. What they do is they do what they do very well.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and they have two locations. So one in post oak and then one in Washington. But the one in Washington is the size of a shoebox, it is very small. I've been to that one once. There's no parking, and you get your car towed. Oh, that's because it's in the heights. It's in the heights. But they actually, I believe, might have better parking because they actually opened a breakfast location. So it's right next to that one. And they the one in post oak is a new one and it's much bigger. And they have TVs everywhere, music playing. Um, they have really good drinks as well. We got, well, we got non-alcoholic drinks, but we got a strawberry pineapple, and then Dekisha got a strawberry limeade.
SPEAKER_03I wanted to get something to drink, but they told me I was driving.
SPEAKER_02He doesn't even drink alcohol. Alex and I did not get any alcohol. Their alcoholic beverages did look really good. They are good, guys. They're good. Um, I did not try any alcoholic beverages, but they looked really good. But the lime came in a like a 16-ounce mason jar. Um great presentation. Yeah, it was everything was beautiful, even the way they played it. The food was beautiful. And I like with their quesadillas, honestly, I think they could eat on them for three days because they give you rice, they give you beans, you cannot eat all that food. Like, I can tell you, I will probably be eating on my burrito for like three days because there's no way I'm gonna finish it.
SPEAKER_01It's huge. And I told her too, I was like, it's big. Everything you get here is gigantic.
SPEAKER_03Because we're in Texas, baby, everything's bigger.
SPEAKER_02And we thought Alex and I thought about sharing a chicken quesadilla, but then she said, No, I want my own leftovers.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I did want my own leftovers, and it's I you could eat that, like she said, for three days. And they actually have new margaritas where it's soft served, so it's like an ice cream margarita essentially. And I remember her Brie, our waitress, told us about the alcohol. She's like, Oh, they're strong. You can taste the alcohol, and you can because I've had their drinks before for happy hour, and it's really strong.
SPEAKER_03My friend wants to go just for the margarita, Donna C that says want to go for the margarita. Apparently, it's really strong because there was a lady who was celebrating her birthday. Oh my gosh, and she was strong. I mean, she wasn't tore, she was toe up.
SPEAKER_02She was like, sash around her legs and was like, What is this? And her friend's like, It's your sash. And then she starts doing a jig, and her friend's like, Okay, get out the door.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, her friend's pushing her out the door.
SPEAKER_03Like, she was toe up, not tore up. She was torn, not torn toe up. She was gone. We we just started laughing with a with with this other couple that was there. We were laughing. He was like, Okay, like, so yes, the drinks have to be really, really strong because they I don't even know how she was walking out. She was falling all over, but it was, you know.
SPEAKER_01They are really strong, and I've had um different drinks there. And then I was telling my um the Akisha, because my that's my mom's favorite restaurant. Like, we could go there every every day if she wanted to. And she had her birthday there, and for your birthday, they come out and they do a huge celebration and they play a song. So for your birthday, you get a free shot or you get a free cake. And my mom, she's now Miss Innocent, and she was like, I can't drink this shot. That's hilarious. I don't drink, and I'm like, I've known her since I was 17. I'm like, Mom, come on now.
SPEAKER_02So a little bit.
SPEAKER_03No comments, no comment from me.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I have lots of comments, and I know she'll call me when she hears this, but please. Or maybe it's because she had so much enough to drink to last her life.
SPEAKER_01So I maybe know what it is. But I took the sacrifice for her and I took the shot. And the shots, they're strong. I will tell you, they are no longer.
SPEAKER_03Look at you're a team player.
SPEAKER_01I am a team player. You are true Williams. And it was a really strong shot, and they do not water down their drinks at all. So go check out the Nieletti's. Um, it's a really cool place for lunch, for dinner. Um, and I also highly recommend that if you do go, go during the week because it gets really packed on the weekends and probably go during lunch because that's when everybody's at work. Don't go during dinner time.
SPEAKER_02Or if you go do during during dinner time, go at the old people dinner time between 4:30 and 5.
SPEAKER_01So you can get a parking slot and get an eating. Yeah, and they're closed on Mondays, but like I've been at like 12 and there's nobody there at all. And I get it, I get to get it quick for like three to four people. So highly recommend going.
SPEAKER_03I like the whole little atmosphere too. It was nice. The restaurant was really nice, the way it had everything set up, the pictures of the mom on the wall and drawn on the wall, and just it was really nice. So um it was a good atmosphere.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was really cool and highly recommend. So if you are in Houston, add that to your bucket list as one of the spots to go check out.
SPEAKER_03Definitely do that. You know, we got Frenchies, you know. We always talk about Frenchie's, and we have some other places. Um, Timmy Chan's, but you know, you can't everybody can't go to Timmy Chan's, but we have, but that is definitely another place to add that really, really good. Is like I said, it's not overhyped, it's underhyped how good that food is.
SPEAKER_01Yes, so highly recommend going. But now, my favorite segment, Dad will be doing his chop theme segment. So his ingredients for today are potatoes, honey butter, sausage, and waffles. So essentially, like I tell you guys all the time, our chop segment is just like the show. Dad gets four mystery ingredients and he has to create a dish. So his challenge for the dish he has to create is a meal inspired by one of the Bruno Mars albums. And of course, Dad is a cheater because he can't come up with something on the spot. So I give him his the ingredients beforehand, so he will tell us now what he created.
SPEAKER_03So I don't know where Alex comes up with these ingredients.
SPEAKER_01Um, but it's based off of what I'm craving in the moment. And I can tell you what I'm craving, but we'll wait till he says his dish.
SPEAKER_03So I call this dish 24 carat brunch remix step. That's what I call it. It's a sweet and savory breakfast plate. You know, y'all know I like to create um names and then I don't remember the names, I'll just file to write them down. That feels like it should come with a spotlight and backup dancers. So you have the potatoes, you want to dice those, you have the breakfast sausage. I'm used, I'm using old folk breakfast sausage, the little round patties. Love those, those are like my favorite sausages. Then you need waffles. You can either make them fresh or you can buy you some waffles in the store. I'm gonna make mine fresh. Um, then you have honey butter, you can either make your own honey butter or you can just buy the honey butter. They have good honey butter from um Texas Roadhouse. Then you need some salt, some pepper, some garlic powder, and paprika. And we know when you're seasoning, you season it to the ancestors say that's enough chai. And then we need all the butter for cooking. So the opening at crunch is the potatoes. You have to heat them up over the oil. You add the potatoes, you season it with your salt and pepper, your garlic powder, and your paprika. Um, you cook until they're golden, probably about 12 to 14. Minute. You want to make sure they're crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. You want to stir occasionally because you want to make sure they don't flop on stage. And then you have the sausage, that's the baseline energy drop. Then it's a separate prayer. You brown the sausage and slice them until they're caramelized on the edges. They should be like bold, spoke, and slightly attention seeking. Then we have the waffles, which is the main stage foundation. You want to toast the waffles until they're crispy and golden. And then you want to cut into a quarters of strip so they can act like the base layer of the dish. Then you do the honey butter. You want to warm your honey butter until it's easy to drizzle. We call that the smooth hook sauce. This is your silky, show-stilling moment. Do not skip that. And then you want to assemble it. You have to, you know, the chop stop bill. You put the waffles down first, that's the stage. So you put a pile of potatoes on there, that's the crowd energy. Then you add the sausage, that's the base, and the backup vocals. And then you drizzle generously with honey butter, that's the trout type and hook. It tastes like a 24 karat magic concert, got turned into breakfast, sweet hook, crunchy beats, and I'm the headliner.
SPEAKER_01That sounds really good. So what I had in mind, which is kind of what he's making, but dad likes to make me these McGriddles, so that's what I based this food thing off of a McGriddle.
SPEAKER_03It's an open-based McGridddle.
SPEAKER_01Yes. So I'm really excited. So we will be trying that out, of course. Look out for our video and where can I see the video? On YouTube. You could also see it on a little reel on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. So we will be posting it on there. But this concert, this food, it has me thinking of a question, of course, our famous question. And so I know we did a head-to-head last time, but I thought that this would be perfect for the Bruno Mars albums. So we are going head to head where all of us will participate. And it is what is the greatest Bruno Mars album of all time. So, first, for our first head-to-head, I did do his Deo-Wop and Hooligans album versus his 24k magic album. Their doops and hooligans did come out in 2010, and the 24k magic came out in 2016. So a couple songs on the dooop and hooligans album is Just the Way You Are, Grenade, Talking to the Moon, The Lazy Song. And then on his 24K Magic album, we have his 24k magic, Chunky, Perm, Versace on the floor, and finesse.
SPEAKER_03So I feel like you put the two hardest albums together. The perk they should have been in a final.
SPEAKER_01Well, you know, we gotta eliminate it somehow. So I can already tell you what my favorite album is gonna be. My top one is gonna be the doo ops and hooligans. I love every single song on that album. So that will be mine. But let's head to The Akisha, our guest, and what she's picking.
SPEAKER_02I'm picking 24K and Magic. I still play that on repeat. That's like my favorite Bruno album.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so 24K. What's that?
SPEAKER_03It's my birthday. No, it's not, but I still look good though. I am having a hard time because grenade is one of my favorite songs that he's ever made. Like, that's one of my favorite songs. I still catch a grenade for you. Okay, okay. But so I'm gonna go with this is hard because I like I like finesse. That's the one done. Is that the one he has with Cardi B? No, it's not. Which one is the one with Cardi B? Oh, uh the remix dunny up?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's the remix uh dripping and finesse.
SPEAKER_03I'm gonna go with doo-wop to do the guns because they have grenade on there.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so two for doo-wop and one for 24k. So our next one is going to be our unorthodox jukebox, which was released in 2012, versus, of course, the romantic that was just released in 2026. So the unorthodox juke box has Young Girls Locked Out of Heaven, Gorilla Treasure When I Was Your Man, and of course the romantic album has Risk It All, Cha Cha Cha, Why You Wanna Fight on My Soul. Mine is going to be the Unorthodox Jukebox. I love that album so much. And it's gonna be really difficult for me to pick in the end, but I do love that album. And let's head to our guests. What's your album? I'm going with the romantic. Okay. Wow.
SPEAKER_02I really like how how soulful that one is.
SPEAKER_03I'm I'm going with the romantic as well.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so two for romantic and one for unorthodox jukebot. So I did wanna, I guess let's do our head-to-head first. So mine is the doo ops and hooligans versus the unorthodox jukebot. And I'm actually going to pick the dooops and hooligans because I love that album. So that'll be mine. But let's go to our guest. And she did 24K Magic versus The Romantic.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna have to go with 24K.
SPEAKER_01That's like my favorite Bruno Mars album. Okay, 24K and Dad.
SPEAKER_03I'm gonna do um dooop and hooligans.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay. So that one actually did win. So I did throw in an extra album, which technically is a duo with you know Bruno Mars and Anderson. And that is their An Evening with Silksonic that was released in 2021. I will still go with Doo Ops, that will still be my number one.
SPEAKER_03Mine mine was mine as well. I will put the romantic second behind doo-ops. I think that was a really good album too.
SPEAKER_01So okay, and yours is gonna be it's gonna be 24. 24. Okay. Okay, so we have our winners, and what that leads us into our questions, which I think we'll have to pick from our top album. And if you had to delete one Bruno Mars song forever, what would it be? So from the doo-wops and hooligans, and then the akisha's will be from 24k. So I would delete from the doo-wops for sure. I would say probably the other side. I really like that line, but I'll delete the other side from the doo ops and hooligans. The akisha from 24k?
SPEAKER_02Maybe too good to say goodbye. I like that song, but Okay. I can't see getting rid of anything else. Okay, dad.
SPEAKER_03Somewhere in Brooklyn, I don't really, you know, the song is good, but it's not like the best. So that's the easy one for me. I'm not getting rid of the top ones, though. I can tell you that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, those those were good. Next question. Do you guys think that Bruno Mars will still be relevant 10 to 20 years from now? I I do think he will be.
SPEAKER_02I definitely think he will be. I mean, Michael Jackson's been gone for how many years and his music is still, I mean, he's still making is it billions, I think, a year? Yeah. I mean, they have a movie coming out about him. So I think I definitely think Bruno Mars, he's done a lot like for RB and like the way he what he does with music, like some of its pop, it leans into RB, that sort of thing. So it's great.
SPEAKER_01Okay. And leading to a follow-up question from that is do you think Bruno Mars music videos bring the creativity and performance style of 80s like Michael Jackson and print? His music videos are actually pretty good.
SPEAKER_02They are really good. Yes, I do. And I mean, you're too young to remember this, but like when music videos came out, like in the 80s and 90s, it was an event.
SPEAKER_03You ran to your TV.
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm. Okay, so that ends our Bruno Mars topic questions.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah, you didn't ask me. Yes, I think he'd still be relevant.
SPEAKER_01Sorry, sorry. But let us head to our blind song ranking, which you know is our favorite, where we rank the top five and I will spin our wheel. So our first one was God Was Showing You Off. So what would you rank that blindly? I'm gonna say three because I really like that song.
SPEAKER_03Okay, so this is all his albums.
SPEAKER_01This is just the set list from the concept.
SPEAKER_03Okay, okay. I'm gonna go um three with that too.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I'll say three. Okay, I don't know. Okay, our next one is Risk It All. I'm gonna say four.
SPEAKER_03I'm gonna say two. I really like their song. Two.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna go with four as well, just because I don't know what's coming up.
SPEAKER_01Okay, our next one is something serious. And put that at five. That's five for me. That one's a good song, but it it's not the top for me. Okay, next is Uptown Funk.
SPEAKER_03One for me. I love the song.
SPEAKER_01Put that at two as well. One only because I don't know what's coming next. And for our final song, oh, cha cha cha is our final song.
SPEAKER_00Four.
SPEAKER_01So that's my one. So I did enjoy dancing to that. I did. It was a really good song, but we would just like to thank you guys for coming to see, or not coming, listening to us. And we would like to thank our special guests.

SPEAKER_03Okay, okay, okay, wait, wait, wait, wait. Did you know the the Madagras family learned about the sound uptown punk, but they can't talk about Bruno Mars?
SPEAKER_01Oh my gosh, Dad, please.
