Jump in juicy listener! Peep this podcast out! Here is where it all begins! I'm going to be chatting a bit about who I am, where I come from, what I do, and how this podcast will be a doorway to a creative realm of exploration, silliness, and just people being people. Giddy up!

I recorded this on an absolute whim. My episodes will be raw, unfiltered, and edgy. I want to press buttons, open awareness, shake the world and connect with my tribe.

Hello there, ladies and gentlemen. My name is Joel Fields, and you are embarking on the journey, the inner journey, the weirdness of Wizard of Wonder. My name, like I said, is Joel Fields. Hi, hello. This is my very first time, very first episode of a podcast. Wow, that sounds crazy beans, bananas to say. But here we are, my friends. We are gonna get it started. Can you all hear me pretty well? I'm glad. I'm real glad. Cuz yeah, we've got some good stuff for you guys today. I'm excited that you are here, and I'm excited that you know we're uh we're we're doing this. I've been pondering upon a podcast for years, years. My goodness. Ever since I sort of listened to podcasts, uh, I must say, as day one here of recording Wizard of Wonder podcast, uh, this is crazy, but I'm actually recording during a pretty heavy little storm. Uh so we're just sitting here and it uh listening to the rain come down, enjoying some ginger tea, and we're just getting weird, right? Weird and wonderful. Uh, Wizard of Wonder, what this podcast is about, for those of you first tuning in, uh, I'd like to welcome you in. So, like I've said twice now, my name is Joel Fields, and I am a licensed massage therapist. I'm a certified professional health coach. I am a um health coach? Life coach. Healthy life coach. I don't know. Anyway, I mix and blend and you know, I just do all kinds of silly weird things. And tonight, yeah, just kind of watching this storm, enjoying the weather, uh, sipping back. And um, yeah. Welcome. I'm excited you guys are here. This is this is my own little adventure. So, you know, even though I'm, you know, all these, you know, I'm I'm a holistic, somatic, whatever, right? I'm a holistic wizard, yo. And let's lay it down and let's be real, right? But this is my own little playground, my own little fantasy land, if you will. And I am, I've been wanting to do a podcast because I think I think it could be a creative outlet, you know, just to get my voice out there a little bit more. I think people could find a little entertainment. Who knows? I don't know, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe you'll find a piece of heart in all of this, you know. Uh anyway, ladies and gentlemen, for the past 10 years, I've been a little over even, I've been studying like mind-body work, uh, therapeutic massage, I've been studying, you know, how you know our nervous system works, how our uh uh immune system works, our endocrine system works, psychoneuroimmunology as a whole, you know, stress, psychophysiology of stress, um lifestyle stuff, uh Native American type, you know, medicine. I've I have a bachelor's of science in holistic health, and I've taken classes on like uh, you know, traditional Chinese medicine, on yoga and Ayurvedic medicine, um, you know, movement therapies, you know, any kind of like holistic health integrative practice. You know, I've I've looked into a ton of them. I mean, from all the cool fad, wild, weird hip stuff to um, you know, Joe Rogan and his his pod of gangsters and all those, you know, broy dudes and their things and you know, all that stuff's cool. You know, I got into all that stuff, you know, back in like seven 2017-18, and you know, I was really, really getting into a lot of that stuff. And I read a couple couple cool books um uh by Aaron Alexander and by Aubrey Marcus, and um, oh gosh, there might have been another couple in there. Um, Jim Quick was one with his limitless book. Um, I've got them over right on a shelf over here, but yeah, I started getting into these guys. And these guys also are podcasters, and they do all this cool broy, you know, working out, you know, getting grizzled kind of stuff, and and that's all well and good, right? But I also get into a lot of you know the inner realms and how people think and how they show up and how they move through the world. And, you know, I've always had this fascination for my entire life, like, you know, about how people think and how people go through the world and how they express themselves and you know, all these things, how they just people, how people, people, right? We're all people, people, and you know, we're just out here moving and grooving and being our own little weird things, right? Our little, little, you know, you know, some, I don't know, we're all just, you know, we don't even know why we're all here. You know, people say these days we live in a simulation, you know, like a video game, right? But who's player one and who's player two, and you know, where's the cartridge go? That's what I'm saying. Anyway, anyway, hi, yeah. You guys are gonna find out real quick that I have ADHD like a madman. And sometimes when I get going on a little bit of a rant, a tangent, I can just spit it on out, right? But yeah, that's kind of what I want to do this podcast because you know, you know, I I've had these curiosities, like I was saying, about how people are and how things go. And I've always felt like I had this like internal, like maybe knowing about the world, right? And I've always been able to know things maybe way before like I should know things, but then again, it wasn't super logical, so I couldn't put things together. So anyway, I always felt like I was a little bit aware of things and you know, maybe too hyper-aware of whatever, you know, things going on anyway, anyway, you know, bring it back here. But I want to have this podcast as a way, as a creative expression, you know, to create, to put something out there, right? But to hold myself accountable, right? The whole thing with a podcast is consistency, and you guys want consistency. It's nice to have a little bit of consistency right up in here. That's all I'm asking for is consistency. So, anyway, it's a way to keep people accountable. And as you can hear and probably tell, you know, you're in for a swell treat. You know, if you can handle some weird stories and some weird thoughts and weird things, and I'd like to share a couple things with y'all, you know, and things like that. You know, are you guys aware of Damon Darling? He's a he's an Ohio guy, I believe. Uh, he's he's doing some real good in the world. Just out there making people laugh is you know, he's good, cool dude. Cool dude. I'd love to run into him sometime, things like that. Um, you guys know what I mean? Anyway, if you don't know who Damon Darling is, look him up. He's he's a funny guy. Anyway, yeah, I think the storm has passed us by. I the lightning is not as crazy for those of you who guys are wondering. Um it's it's good. It's good. So, so I yeah, anyway, you know, you guys don't want to hear about the weather, you know. Uh, and I'm sorry, I do make noises. So if you're if you're like, what's this guy even doing? You know, he's he's I'm bonkers, y'all. I'm bonkers. Anyway, this is this is like Joel Fields Unfiltered, right? So I'm just gonna spitball at you guys, and you know, these are gonna be unedited episodes, it's really just me. And you know, thanks to the lovely power of AI and stuff today, there's lovely editing tools that make this work very possible, you know. And um, yeah, anyway, we're just gonna put this out here and just kind of see what happens with it and see what rolls. Um, these are gonna be shorter episodes, these aren't gonna be anything too long. I don't want to really get in people's heads or like get too crazy and you know, do all this stuff. Who knows? Maybe, maybe this could turn into something larger, maybe it could turn into a community. You know, I'm I I I'm working on getting my coaching out there, you know. I I haven't opened up quite yet to this, right? To be honest with you guys, and uh it's it's budding, right? So this podcast could be a way is you know, I'm exploring the realms of entrepreneurialism, right? Uh dipping my toes. I'm three three years deep into my own practice of of being a massage therapist, a craniosacral therapist, a smato somato-emotional release therapist. There we go, get it out. I have had a long day today, and I've I've done some pretty intense sessions. Um, and I, you know, all this is about helping people transform and move, improve, and you know, help them shift, you know, help make shifts, not only in their fascial system and like the tissue memory that like their organs hold on to, and like the fascia and all this stuff, right? This this crazy stuff. There's these whole inner realms that live within us, but you know, uh this podcast is gonna go all over the place. You know, I'll talk about work stuff, I'll talk about um anything. This podcast can go anywhere because it's just my little creative bubble of like, you know, an amalgam of juicy, yummy, delicious, tender, meaty snackage, if you will. You know, I don't even know what the heck I was talking about right there. That's just you know, it's just epic. It's just epic, y'all. Epic, y'all, epic, epic, epic, y'all. Anyway, um, yeah, so for those of you guys who were like, this guy's a little zany. Uh, thank you. Um, yeah, so I was raised an only child in Northwest Ohio. We're gonna start back with a little origin story, if you will. Um, a little, little, little, you know, I was adopted into a very Christian family, you know, very Christian religious family. And, you know, there's a lot of weird church stuff that I'll talk to. And um, that's that that could be some things. And um, yeah, grew up in this just this very rural, small farm town community. You know, I s I'm I'm currently here um looking around right now. I'm actually sitting in my kitchen. Um, it's kind of an office as well. I've got some monitors here and I've got like my stuff all set up. You know, it's kind of like a little makeshift office, and I I like it because it's it's just nice, it's open, it's free. I I do have a little office that I sit into sometimes. I I might, you know, as this is the first episode, I might turn that into a podcast studio. It has a really nice vibe to it in there. Um, the acoustics are really great. Um, just because of the um the mysterious materials it's made of, probably. You know what I mean? Uh this house is a little old. And um, yeah, anyway, we just don't go ripping off the wallpaper and all the walls, you know what I'm saying? Anyway, um, yeah, it's it's 2026 and it's you know, we're winding down the end of March currently. Today's the 26th of March. You know, it's definitely has that lion kind of vibe right now, you know. Um, but I don't know where the lamb came in. Like, maybe less lamb, more lion. I don't know. The lion and the lamb, right? I don't know. My favorite lion thing is the lion the witch in the wardrobe, you know. That's amazing. Uh it's just beautiful. Anyway, yeah, this is this is a zany first episode. So if you're like getting down, you're gonna be like, what is this random show about? Well, um, so the whole thing is, guys, like, like I I love wizardry, right? I love, you know, Harry Potter, of course, you know, I'm I've I've watched the movies, you know, I've I've read the books, I've listened to the audiobooks. Um, I I love it, you know, right? Harry Potter's great, great, great. And that's where the the idea of, you know, just embodying the archetype of wizard came from, right? So if you're like Wizard of Wonder, what the heck, right? And my my practice used to be Holistic Wizard Wellness, so uh that's where the logo actually came from for this podcast, you know, the W. So we're still gonna be using that wizard um as my logo, right? Because it's sick, and I like it. So Holistic Wizard Wellness is basically my my my big big ball of beef and uh I don't know, uh, you know, legal entity or whatever, right? And uh then I do business as Fields My Buddy Therapies as well for my my massage business. And then yeah, anyway, um it's kind of a big collective, so that's kind of what I've got going on here. And uh within Holistic Wizard Wellness, right, within even this podcast, Wizard of Wonder, um, it's just it's something we can we can all dive into and create a little bit of a community around, you know. Just because you you might be a client of mine or whatever, doesn't mean necessarily that you have to listen to this podcast, right? I mean, you could get benefit of it. Um obviously, I will be talking a little bit about what I do um and some of the experiences perhaps in there, but you know, not nothing too too much, you know, about specifics or anything like that, you know what I mean? But uh I it could be helpful information. A lot of this more comes from like more of a coaching mentality and just being able to educate and communicate, you know, the ways that we show up, right? As our human beings. Anyway, do you guys have favorite kinds of tea? I don't know if there's a way for you guys to reach out to me and just be like, yeah, Joel, I like I like tea. Um, you know, I I like green tea or whatever, you know. Some people really love matcha. I I got down on matcha for a long time. Um it's it's good, but sometimes I get a little bit of burnout on matcha tea, and um maybe seasonally it's nice. I I do like it when it's iced. I had a really nice iced matcha not too long ago somewhere that really blew my socks off. And uh it's good. And I also recently had a blackberry matcha that was really killer um not too long ago. I think that might have been iced too. I'm not sure. Anyway, I don't rightly recollect, but um yeah, anyway, anyway, this podcast, guys, is gonna be fun. Um it's just super random right now that I'm getting started with it, and it's just like, you know what, just sit down, get it done, and let's start the dang thing, right? It only takes one step forward to uh start something, right? So if sitting down and recording the podcast is step one, well, we've made it. Consider it done, step one, right? Anyway, um, I like to make little noises and stuff like that. I've always been a little noisemaker. A little story. When I was a young lad, I don't even remember what age, but younger, right? I remember standing in front of my bathroom mirror, right? Shower time, bath time, whatever time, and just looking into my mirror for the longest time and making silly voices, silly faces, just being a total goober to myself, right? Just like just me in the mirror, right? And just laughing and having a good time, chuckling along, but I was in there forever, right? Just just goofing off. Like, it's like time did not exist in my relevance, you know, whatsoever. Like, I was just like oblivious to time, oblivious to time, you know. I had no idea what was even happening, and I was just like chilling, doing my own thing, and in the bathroom for hours, just making noises, making voices, and just giggling and being silly, right? So weird. And you know, I I remember doing that, and then I always remember being able to like try to mimic noises and and make different sounds and stuff like that. And um, oh my goodness, I'm blanking on his name, Michael Winslow, right? From Space Balls. Um man, I I love that movie, and uh I still love that movie, it makes me chuckle so hard. Um, but yeah, he's the best. He was also in um um, oh my goodness. Uh uh Citizens on Patrol, Police Academy. There we go. Police Academy, police academy, police academy. Uh yeah, he was also in Police Academy. He's he's a guy that does the voices, you know. Um appearance where you've been jammed, sir. You know, the beeps, the sweeps, and the something else. Anyway, voices, noises. Um, I used to want to be a voice actor, believe it or not. I always imagined it would be swell to be a voice actor for like a cartoon show, like a kid's kid's weird little cartoon show, but it would probably be like adventure time, like creepy, weird stuff, you know, like wizards and obviously wizards and fun things like that. But you know, the the lore, my goodness, we've gotta have the lore, right? Anyway, um, wizards, getting back to wizard stuff, right? I love wizards, right? Merlin, you know, the movie with Sam Neil, love it, you know, those cheesy effects. It's it's raw, you know, it's that real gritty stuff that you really want to see. And it's it's awesome. If you have not seen Merlin with Sam Neil, go out and check it out, right? It's the whole story of Merlin, like the whole thing, you know, from pre-Merlin to you know, almost post-Merlin, as close as it gets. Um, but yeah, it's great. It's great. Y'all should go out and watch it. Anyway, that's my big PSA about Merlin. But like wizards, right? A lot of folks in my area, you know, there might be a lot of lot of people who are listening to this, uh, maybe who know me, and you're like, wow, the whole wizard thing's weird, Joel. And you know, here's the thing about the wizard, right? A lot of people in Northwest Ohio, you know, this in this religious framework, they kind of classify it a little funny, you know. So they they take the wizard a little bit out of context, but really it's just a knowledge keeper, right? It's just, I'm just a knowledge holder, you know, an archetype that I take on, you know? It's kind of like the sage or like the wise w one or something like that. But it's it's in the realm of a wizard, right? Bibbity bobbity boo, mofo. You know what I'm saying? Anyway, we're about to lay it down. So yeah. Anyway, this is the Wizard of Wonder podcast. I don't know what's gonna happen from this, but you know, every week I want to start doing this and I want to start keeping myself accountable, just 20 minutes or so, rip it out, ramble it out, and see what happens, right? So I'm gonna be coming up with outlines and actual goals and things that we'll be talking about along the way. You know, it's not gonna be too much shenanigans. It might be, but there might be an overlapping theme to the whole thing uh based upon some elements that I've learned and all my experience and all my knowledge that I've been putting together. So now it's time to piece that together in like the most beautiful, juiciest little puzzle that I can muster for the peeps who may be interested. I have no idea if anybody will ever listen to this, right? But if I don't get out the things that are like on my mind and in my voice, um, they're just gonna fester. And I want them to be heard because maybe it might help somebody.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe somebody is sitting around and being like, Joel, I've been waiting for you. I've been waiting for someone like you to take my hand and guide me, facilitate me through, you know, whatever experience they may need, right?

SPEAKER_00

I work with people with heavy experiences, heavy emotional pain, heavy physical pain, heavy trauma, PTSD, all kinds of stuff, right? And it's it's a you know, we are just amazing human beings, right? So part of the Wizard of Wonder podcast is just people being people and exploring our inner realms and like how wild and weird we we really are, right? But I want to do this in a fun way, and it's it is gonna be a little bit about my life and about different things that I've experienced and things like that. It's just gonna be an amalgam of weirdness, right? The Wizard of Wonder podcast, brought to you by Joel Fields and Fields Mind Body Therapies, located in Northwest Ohio, um, here serving people, and I'm helping people and providing relief from physical and emotional pain, right? Because it's our stress and stuff that really gets to us and just knocks us out, right? It causes dis-ease within the body based upon the stories that we tell ourselves and all the good stuff, right? All this stuff just kind of comes together, and that's what I help people with, you know, on a regular basis. So yeah, anyway, I guess this episode is brought to you by that. So I don't know, a shameless plug for myself. Weird. I don't even know what, you know, I don't even know. I don't even know. We just sat down, hit record, and we ripped it off. So anyway, there it is, ladies and gentlemen. The unfiltered fields mind of me, your host, Joel Fields. Anyway, catch you guys next time.
