In this episode I chat about what it feels like being CLIENT SIDE of getting CranioSacral Therapy done and a new snazzy treatment option called The Cortina Method. Between these two practices, I'm feeling SO good and in this episode, I share about what they are like and how they have made a difference in my perspective of life.
In this episode, I mentioned the book "Wisdom In The Body" by Michael Kern DO, RCST, MICrA, ND.
I also mentioned the Podcast & the incredible work at DNA Empowerment with Danielle Nicole Andersen check it out here. https://www.dnaempowerment.com/
Thanks again guys for listening and tuning into my realms!

Hello there guys. How are you today? Mew mew mew meow. I don't know why I always do that. I don't know. It's just kind of fun. You know, it's just it's just fun. And that's what this show is all about. Fun, games, shenanigans, sometimes deep hard weird stuff that it's kind of difficult sometimes to talk about. But we're exploring, right? We are here. This is, I believe, episode eight. The last episode was kind of weird. I just rambled a lot. I'm a rambling man, and I can ramble the most as any other man can. Anyway, I am so excited because so I'm a craniosacral therapist, right? And I've been doing this work for over eight years, and I have, you know, it's it's so weird, but just where I live in Northwest Ohio, right, in the United States, I realize this is heard across the globe, which is fantastic, right? It's my voice is being held heard in countries that I've never been before, right? So hi to those who are tuning in. Thank you. I really, really hope you guys are having fun here with us. Anyway, so I'm a craniocral therapist and been practicing for eight years. Like I said, I rarely get my own work done. I have I have a friend who's nearby that her and I have done, I think three sessions before. You know, three sessions in the eight years that I've been working together, you know, that I've been doing this work is is kind of crazy. And something that a lot of the the people who are involved with the education around what I do, they're like, please get your own work because that way you know what your your patients are feeling, your clients are feeling, and that way you can, you know, you can start to make your own changes. You know, craniosacral therapy works the central nervous system, it works the fossil system, it works the membranes, it works with the fluid, it works with the bones, it works with your body's inner physician. Okay. I'm up ledger trained, so I work in the the realms of the inner physician. So that's like your inner wisdom, right? It's our inner knowing, it's our it's how we show up. It's it's you know, it's it's kind of like the captain of our soul ship, right? And we're just aboard these vessels, right? We're we're just these meat sacks who just we wake up and we're like, oh yeah, I remember who I am. You know, I'm I'm Jim John Jim John, you know. I don't know if anybody out there is named Jim John, but if you are Jim John, and you know, then you then you have that memory of who you are, right? So craniocycral therapy is it's a really gentle type of therapeutic application. And so it it I I've been taking a lot of trainings in it lately, and I I love learning more about what I'm doing from other people who've been doing it for a long time. So I've been so so there's two schools of craniocral therapy there's biodynamic craniocral therapy, uh, which is a little bit more like OG, Dr. William Sutherland. He's he's an osteopathic doctor, and a lot of his concepts, and so and uh Franklin Stills, uh a lot of the a lot of that's that's like another form of craniocral therapy. And I I like it. A couple years ago, I read a book uh called Wisdom of the Body by Michael Kern, and that really I'm sorry, I'm looking around my my library right now for it. Oh, there it is on the shelf. Hi, hi book. So I read his book a few years ago, and that talks about biodynamic craniocral therapy. So I I invested myself into that a little bit, and I learned a little bit about it to just to know you know what people are talking about. So within that realm, there's you work with the tides of the body. So I'm not even gonna get into it because that's not it's not really my wheelhouse. But like I said, I'm up ledger trained in craniocral therapy, absolutely love it. But I've been I've been eyeballing some other educational outlets in the the realm of biodynamic craniocral therapy, and I really love it because to today, this morning, I woke up super early. I woke up at 6 a.m. today, and I I didn't sleep well. So I was like, I finally think I got to sleep around like 1, 1:30, terrible. And I I had a I had to be on a call a class this morning, right? There's this this awesome class, this workshop that a friend of mine put together, and she's over in India. So I had to jump on 8 a.m. for a class this morning. Very unusual, but it was good. So it's it's from the lens of biodynamic craniocral therapy, but it's what to do when your clients, you know, maybe they're feeling better, and then all of a sudden they switch a little bit and they start to get unwell, right? So we explored a lot of that, and it was it was awesome. I I I loved it, you know. It it gave me a lot of clarity on what I'm doing, like like I can see between the lines on a lot of things, so it gave me more clarity on what I'm doing from the other lens, and like, oh, okay, this is this is just part of the show, right? And basically what it is is when we're in an expansion state, you know, sometimes our body's not quite used to that. Usually we're used to being in a contracted state, right? We're used to having things like hunkered down and you know, immobilized and just you know, held down, stuck in place a little bit. And, you know, when we're in expansion state, right, or our cells are expanding and we're open in that awareness, right? And we're able to process things of life nature, right? A little deeper. It's it's lovely. So long story short, she said something this morning that really blew my brain, or maybe it was watching a training yesterday, but she said basically the work of craniosacral therapy is like osteopathic work, right? Osteopathy mixed with spirituality. Okay. And they they come together in the most beautiful, intimate, like loving way, right? It's it's it's like loving kindness for your body, right? And I and I love doing this for my clients because they're able to experience themselves as their own wholeness, right? Their own soul. And you know, when with you know, a lot of some of my clients come in and and you know, they have chronic health issues. Some are dealing with like, you know, toxic, like environmental toxins and stuff, and they're they're moving through a lot of that, right? They're they're releasing some of that stuff through their body, through their nervous system, right? I've I've been working with the organ systems of the body lately, so working to understand kind of what's going on in those mechanisms to release that as well, and and just more paying attention to that stuff. Well, today, today, I am so excited to be saying that I actually had my own work done. And I'm I'm I'm being a good therapist, you know, and and helping myself, you know, which is hard, you know, it's it's hard. So I get it, you know. When I'm always like standing on my soapbox and be like, y'all should help yourselves, you know, I get it because sometimes, like, well, you know, I'll take care of everybody else and then I'll take care of me. Well, as it happened today, I just didn't have any clients, you know. And so I was like, okay, well, you know, instead of just doing a full day of admin or sitting around, you know, you know, maybe you goofing off, you know, it's like, well, let's let's see if I can get some work done. And as it happened, this this other practitioner that I happened to make contact with, who's not too far away from me, she happened to say, Hey, I have a bit of an opening today. If you would like it, it's yours. So I was like, Yes, put me in there, coach. Let me get in there. And it was fantastic. And I'm I'm sitting here right now as like a walking advertisement of my own work because like I feel amazing, I feel scrumptious. Like she just she worked like my upper body, my upper thoracics, right? She worked into my neck, into my head. She even gloved up and went right into the mouth, right? She was like, hey, I want to do a couple things and I want to make some checks here and see what's going on. And she did. And I feel so good, right? My mouth feels like it's open and uninhibited, right? My teeth feel more like in my mouth, like, I don't know. I guess before I didn't even notice it, you know, but now I'm like, oh man, wow, like, like I feel super good, you know? And I I went to a a crystal shop, right? In my my nearby little town, and because it's daytime, and you know, I'm I'm rarely over there. Usually I'm working, right? And they're closed on Sundays and they're closed on Mondays, and I think they're even closed on Tuesdays. So anyway, I found a lovely opportunity. So I'm like, I'm gonna go to this crystal shop and see what I find, right? See what jumps out at me and see what's like hello door by me. And I I bought a lovely little piece of pyrite today. I don't I don't have any pyrite. So I found this this beautiful little rhomboid, and yeah, a rhombus? Rhombus. A rhomboid's a muscle, sorry, massage lingo. Anyway, so I got that. But anyway, there is this lady in there, and I was chatting with her, and she's as soon as I walked in, she's like, You're Joel, right? I'm like, whoa. I'm like, Am I famous? You know, and just kind of like joking silly, silly meet me around. And she's like, Oh, yeah, I follow you on Facebook, and and like you are famous, like like I know who you are, you know. And I was like, Oh my gosh, like this is crazy, you know, walk into a store and somebody's like, Oh, hey, I know who you are, and and then she was asking me some questions later about uh the work that I do, you know, asking if it helps with you know her her son, right? So I was like, Oh yeah, yeah, you know, and we were talking. And I noticed in myself, as I was speaking, I spoke with a lot of clarity and a lot of confidence. And it's like the words were just coming out and just natural, you know. I wasn't thinking like, oh, should I say this, should I say that? You know, I'm not up in my head, like wondering if what I'm saying is appropriate or if I'm what I'm saying is making sense. I'm just saying it, right? And so hee hee, I I love it, right? And I love feeling like like floaty, like I I feel like I'm walking around on cloud 12, you know, and so I had to apologize, and I'm like, you know what? I actually just had my own work done and I'm feeling really fab, right? I'm open, I'm flapping my jowls, and I'm just like, whatever, right? So it's nice, it's nice, it's nice, it's nice. Anyway, anyway, I'm so excited for that. But I also want to talk about something that I meant to talk about a couple episodes ago, okay? I've been feeling real good ever since April 28th, and I'm gonna give a big shout out to my friend Danielle Nicole Anderson over in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She does something super awesome called the Cortina method, and this is super unusual. She she just completed her her training in it, and then she completed advanced training in it over the weekend right before I saw her, right? So she was like fresh off the training block and eager to go, and we had an amazing session. So Cortina method is super new, and it seems to be like a tool from what I'm gathering, right? I don't know, uh, but it seems like it's it pulls many different types of things and put it puts it together. So I felt like there's NLP, which is neurolinguistic programming. There's a little bit of that, there's a little bit of hypnotherapy in there, there was a little bit of movement, there was a little affirmation, there was different stuff like that. There is a little bit of touch to it, like touching of the hand, and then like following and tracing like a knuckle in my my on my thumb, right? Kind of odd, a little different. It was all story-driven. There was a lot of neat stories. I don't even know really what the heck heck happened. You know what I mean? I just I realized I I went in there and I visit her in this this beautiful space. She has a she has a place called DNA Awakening Center, and it's in Fort Wayne, and she she's a Kundalini yoga instructor. She's been doing that for a long time with Korea yoga, and she's a consciousness coach. So huge shout outs to Danielle Nicole Anderson if you are listening. Homie, thank you so very much for the opportunity to work one-on-one with you to open my mind and and have me feel better. So, not that I have a lot of trauma or a lot of things that are like weighing me down, but this session is like so. I have, and a reason I'm even doing this podcast, right, is because I I have trouble articulating, not articulating so much, but talking just from a space of knowing myself, right? Being secure, being confident, being clear, right? So I struggle with that a little bit. And I I have these people plenty pleasing tendencies, right? This tendency to like mask myself, you know, hide who I really am, because I'm I'm worried about perceptions from other people, right? I was raised in a hyper-critical house, you know, very religious, like I've said. And, you know, I was always questioned, like, what are you doing that for? Why are you doing this? Don't do that. We don't like that, you know, this isn't our beliefs, you know, a lot of invalidation, which is whatever, right? I feel like a lot of people, a lot of kids go through that, right? They're always like, well, you know, you know, parents know best, you know, and mother knows best. I don't know. I don't know. If you know, you know. If you don't, you know, right? Anyway, but yeah, anyway, growing up in this kind of household, it it's always been a little difficult for me because I'm always like, well, how's this person gonna perceive me? Or how's this going to, you know, if I say this, if I do this thing, what are people gonna think about me? Right? And it's not like I'm like running around just like some crazy hoodlum being like, yo, give me all your cash, lady, you know, anything like that. You know, I'm I'm a I'm a good soul, you know, I'm Joel the soul. Anyway, I I I just I I worry about that, right? I worry about like being a bad person, right? Seeing myself as a bad person, right? And and I think I think some people get caught up in that idea that, oh, they're what they're doing in the world isn't right or isn't good or whatever. But as long as you're not going around like raping, murdering, you know, harming, hurting, you know, plundering, you know, anything like that, you know, commandeering, I don't know, just just being an old piece of shit, right? You know, as long as you're not going around like hurting people, causing harm, right? I don't think really a lot of people are bad, you know. Anyway, I don't know where that little tangent came from, but when I when I went to my friend and I had this session done of the Cortina method, right? If you all want to look it up, it's pretty, pretty cool stuff. You know, uh, the way that she described it, she was like, Well, you know, after today, things are gonna be different. And I was like, okay, cool. You know, and and I had a completely open mind. I totally trust Danielle, she's she's an astrologer, and I've never heard anybody lay astrology down like her before. So I'm like, okay, I trust whatever the heck we're gonna we're gonna do, right? As long as you don't like, I don't know, hold me hostage or keep me prisoner. I don't know. I don't know. She's she's not that kind of a person anyway. Like I said, she's she's a badass yoga teacher and consciousness coach and anything else. But yeah, check out check out. She even has a podcast. DNA Empowerment, I do believe, off the top of my head here. Anyway, check out her stuff. She's super cool. But yeah, so anyway, getting back to it, I had this session and I went in because I wanted to decrease my people-pleasing tendencies. I don't want to think about that, I don't want that on my shoulder anymore. I don't want that to be in the background of my mind, like running my programming. You know, it's subconscious re patterning and reprogramming through storytelling and like I said, all those other elements I believe are in are involved, without just coming forward and being like, yeah, it's mixed to these other things. But I I think that is what it is, right? I felt that, right? Knowing what I know about different types of mind-body therapies, different types of practices. I'm like, ugh, I see a theme here of these elements. But anyway, maybe not. Maybe so. I don't know. Maybe Michael Cortina can just be like, hey, bud, here's what it is. Maybe, maybe we can chat sometime. Anyway, yeah, so I went in and I had this session done. And I kid you not, kittens, ever since that day, I feel different. I feel more alive, I feel more involved with myself. And there's been a couple things where I'm like, you know, that's that's old Joel. That's it, almost feels like an identity that I no longer resonate with or I want to carry around, right? I'm just like, ugh, I'm done with that version. You know, I'm done with the people pleasing, I'm done with with taking care of other, well, not taking care of other people. I'm still a therapist, right? I still like that, but I want to put myself more at the at the forefront, right? And, you know, in today's world, we we always kind of wonder, like, well, is is it being narcissistic if we're if we're about ourself, you know? I mean, I I think that that changes the dynamic and changes the tonality and changes the structure of different things, right? But it's not, I mean, sometimes we're not selfish enough to secure our own boundaries, to be safe enough in what we say, and to be able to say that without those lingering thoughts of how will this affect somebody else? Will somebody else be pissed at me if I say that? Right. And that's a whole point of this podcast, as well, is because, you know, I not only is this a creative outlet for me, but this is also a way for people who want to follow along, maybe want to work one-on-one. And maybe you're like, you know, who is this Joel practitioner guy? You know, why is he somebody that I want to put my trust, my faith, my time, my energy, and my monetary spending with, you know, why do why would I want to work with this person? Well, this podcast is a really cool idea to be like, oh yeah, I I totally get that. I've got people pleasing tendencies. Maybe I relate with you, homie. Or maybe you're just sitting back and you're like, you know, this guy's just going on about nonsense the whole time. I don't know. But between, I will say, between the work that I did with my friend Danielle, the work that I did today, and then I've been doing, I've been working on getting back into meditation, I've been working on getting back into yoga, I've been doing this like self-love, you know, love yourself kind of a thing. So when I've been waking up lately in the last few days, at least since the beginning of this month, I've been waking up and I've been like, okay, you know, and I start saying good things to myself in the morning and I start to remember who I am. So we can we can either wake up, right? And we can like get on our phones and start scrolling and be like, oh yeah, you know, the world is telling you who you are. Or you can wake up and be like, you know what? Today is who I'm gonna be, world. I'm going to choose my perception of who I want to be today based upon my personal reality and who, you know, maybe the elements that you want to bring into it, right? Maybe you want to be a little bit more zazzzy, or maybe you want to be a little bit more zany, or maybe you just, you know, you don't you don't want to give a fuck what people think about you anymore, right? And you just want to swoosh that sh stuff off yeah, you know, and you can, you totally can. It's your decision to make. But sometimes we get stuck in the way, right? We get in our own way, and we we need sometimes a facilitator to work through that. And that's what I do with craniosacral therapy. And like I said, I'm a walking ad advertisement. I like saying advertisement versus advertisement. I don't know, it's an old English thing, but I like it. And I'm like, you know, like a walking ad for myself because like I feel so good today, you know. I mean, I I'm I'm like a peppy person and like I'm full of like you know, joie d'avive, and I like it, you know, I I generally am. But like today, when when my the cariocycral therapist was working with me, she's like, Joel, it feels like you have the weight of the world on your shoulders. So that's why she spent a lot of time on my upper thoracic and my neck, because I'm just caring a lot. I am, you know, and it's it's good to admit that, even even to a group of listeners who I don't even know who you guys might be. Maybe we've never met, we've probably never met, you know. Maybe we have, and you're like, oh Joel, I get it, bud. I get it, you know, and for that I'm super thankful. So yeah. Anyway, I think that was I think that was a good episode. I you know, the last episode was just kind of corny and crazy, and I feel like I was just, you know, I was I was doing it because I had to do it, right? Because I want to be accountable to myself, I want to show up here and I want to make sure that these are uploaded every Friday morning at 6 a.m., right? So today's Thursday as the recording of this, right? And it's 420. It's 420. And I I actually thought I was going to record about cannabis today a couple days ago when I was like, okay, what am I gonna do my podcast on? You know, what what do I really want to talk about? Because in the last episode I did talk about my cannabis use, but I like I said, I can go into a whole episode about it, but I want to keep these short, I want to keep them digestible. I don't want to occupy a lot of people's time with this stuff, and I want to make them, you know, short, cute, and enjoyable because there's a lot of cool podcasts out there, right? So maybe you're like, well, you know, I've listened to Joel ramble on enough. I want to get back to listening to my true crime, you know, or the telepathy tapes, telepathy tapes. There we go. Get that out. That's a really good one. That's a really cool one. I've I've got a buddy who who we've we've been talking, we're we're we went to high school together, and him and I have been chatting a little bit about, you know, consciousness. We've been talking about the the the UFO phenomenon, or you know, and disclosure type stuff, and these missing scientists who are disappearing, and we're just talking about all the cool things in the world right now, you know. Our reality is is kind of like a big trip, right? Like we never know what uh here in the United States anyway, we never know what our our you know gigantic turd of a leader is gonna say, you know, I'll say it. And we never know what's gonna happen in involving you know the country anymore. You know, it's just on like this trajectory of chaos, as which is the world. You know, it's all part of this like collapse of society and civilization, right? Like I I said before, you know, we're due for another renaissance, and I feel like we're bridging that right now. And every day when you get up, you're just like, what is the world anymore? You know, the CIA has released these documents that like telepathic powers are real, you know, energy work is real. I was just watching something last. Night where they have been doing all these cancer studies now, and they're using Reiki to actually just cure people of cancer and change cancer cancer on a cellular level, and it's it's just energy man, it's just energy man, and you know, healers and like energy workers and you know Gnostics and you know people people in that realm have known this stuff for so long, you know, but I think because of the heaviness of the the church, right? The the church, right? Big church, if you will, you know, big pharma, big canna, big church, that's the thing too. So I think I think just like the weight and heaviness of the big church to keep these things from the people and to keep people like silenced, you know, the silencing of the lambs, so to speak, I think it's all starting to crumble. And I think that's why, you know, the people who are uplifting their consciousness and who are raising their vibrations are the people who have previously been like, well, you're a weirdo or whatever, right? I'm amongst you, I get it, I'm there, you know, I'll claim it. And, you know, but now it's like all that stuff is flipping and all the conspiracy theories, the energy stuff, the the force, right? If you're familiar with Star Wars, the force is awakened, you know, in all of us. And it's something, something to be super excited and super happy about because as a collective, we're moving through the next dimension, you know. And if you don't believe in any of this stuff and you're just like Joel, you sound like you're off your rocker. I might be. I just had some amazing cranial work today, you know. I'm a walking advertisement, like I said. So anyway, I think that's gonna be today's episode. We're gonna wind this down with the 24-minute mark, and I think it's been a good one, a really good one. I'm really looking forward to connecting more with you guys and learning more and helping, I don't know, helping in whatever way possible, right? So if you hear this and you're somewhere in the world and you're like, I kind of want to work with you, right? Check out my stuff, check out my website, and let's let's see, let's see if we're a good fit to work together. Because I, like I said, I'm a transformation coach and I want people to transform from the inside out through many different types of ways. And yeah, we're here for it. We're being excited. This is a weird groovy little world we're living in, and I'm so happy to be a part of it, and I'm so happy to be tuning in and doing this podcast with you guys. It means the world to me for you guys to listen. So if you guys could rate my show, share my show, tell a friend, comment, email me back, you know, anything, anything you want to do, right? To kind of move it forward, right? There's so many people out there who are creatives and doing different things. I just want to fit into that world myself, you know? So, anyway, take care, my friends, and I hope you guys have a super scrumptious day. And thank you once again for tuning in to the Wizard of Wonder podcast. Take care and have a great day.
