Hello there. How are you guys? It's so good to be back with you. I took a few days off. I don't know why. Really. Honestly, Friday I wasn't feeling super great. So I ended up rescheduling some clients of mine, and I actually had totally ample time to sit down and record this episode, but I just didn't do it. I don't know why. I don't know why. And then somebody reached out to me and they're like, hey, are you okay? Like we were waiting for your Friday's episode and it just wasn't there. So I'm like, oh man, we we need to get on it. So today is episode 16. Welcome to episode 16. The last episode I think was received pretty well. I think people liked it. I think people liked hearing about the job that I had prior to you know stepping into my own practice. And it it truly means a lot to me to talk about that. I I have loved that job. And you know, I talked about being like my second favorite job or whatever, but it's probably my my actual favorite job just because of the you know, every day was different, right? I never knew what kind of like you know, situation or circumstance I would go into. There's a lot of heavy things with it, you know. I I had a lot of fun because I'm not, I don't have a nursing background and stuff like that. So hospitals to me aren't super heavy. I mean, I've I've had some issues where, you know, loved ones have passed in the hospital. You know, you go there and it it can be hard. It can be a hard place, but my job was just to uplift people. So that's what I did, and I did it to my heart's content. And I love it and I miss it. But today's episode, let's get into something a little different. I uh I was earlier thinking, like, what like what can I even talk about? You know, what can I what can I open up to in regards to talking about who I am, right? As a practitioner, as a person, as a human being. Well, last weekend I did my training for the Cortina method, which was created by Michael Cortina, and that was amazing. So I thought about talking maybe a little bit about that today for the episode. And I've also talked about, or I thought about talking about just some different things, right, that make me who I am, which gives me this really interesting perspective in helping people with their physical health, their emotional health, their mental health, their spiritual health, right? All of these things because I I'm a truly holistic practice, okay? And I really don't like reducing down people, right? Reductionist point of view. That's what a lot of physicians do in this Western culture. And we know that because like you'll you'll go to your family doctor who's a general practitioner, and they might be like, Oh, I can help you with this, or that's kind of beyond my knowledge base, right? And then they'll send you off to a specialist. We have all different kinds of specialists, right? We have like podiatrists, you know, pediatric doctors, we have pulmonologists, we have, you know, the list goes on and on. And all of that is reductionist, right? What I say by what I mean by reductionist is that it's it's reducing down, right? And it's looking at a specific structure, specific cells, specific tissues, specific organs, right? You have like a heart doctor, so to speak, right? So they're only the like they just focus on heart stuff, all different kinds of heart issues, heart replacements, heart valves, you name it, you know. So in my practice, what makes mine unique is that I take a whole person perspective, right? So how you show up as a guest, right, in my office. And I've recently switched over how I see people here in my office, right? Because I do want to operate from a place of pure customer service. You know, I want to give premium customer service to every guest who visits my office, right? I have a very unique office. I don't have like a stuffy structured building with like paid parking and stuff like that. It's just a nice cozy driveway. You roll in, you post up, I greet you at my sunroom. I like to make sure that I'm ready before people just like walk into my office, right? Catch me off guard. And it's it's lovely. But in the the realms of what I work into, it's holistic, right? So I look at the whole person, right? How the whole person is, right? What they're bringing in that day, their unique experiences, you know, and I I hold a place of non-judgment in my work. It's imperative for craniosacral therapy, but then even more so in Cortina method to keep that level of non-judgment, to be fully engaged with my guests' energy, so that way I can meet them where they're at, and that way I am fully committed to helping them resolve whatever issue they have. Whether it might be like a tight neck, it might be stiff shoulders, it might be a limiting belief that you suck. You know, you might be carrying that around your whole life, right? Or maybe like I'm not important, people don't value me, people don't love me, people don't want to be around me, people don't want to do this, do that, right? And that's what I help now with Cortina method, like nothing else. So in this episode, I'm gonna talk a little bit about my my training with Cortina method since I had my three days of training. And yeah, we're gonna get into that a little bit here on this episode as well. So sit back, guys, and get yourself like a nice snack. Or, you know, if you've got some, if you're driving perhaps, maybe you make sure that you have a delicious snapple, or you know, and you got a delicious beverage that's like calling out to you, maybe a tea or whatever. Just don't be drinking and driving, okay? Be safe. Okay, let's get into it. So, Cortina method. For those of you who are maybe new to whatever or tuning in, or you're like, oh, I'm just gonna start in on episode 16, right? So I'm a I'm now a Cortina method practitioner, TCM practitioner, right? And Cortina method is amazing. And what it is, sorry, how can I yawn? So, what Cortina method is, is a brain-based method that works by optimizing your brain through neuroplasticity to get the life that you are wanting and to resolve post-traumatic stress, limiting beliefs, or trauma, right? Memories of a traumatic event that are no longer happening, they are in the past. And the beautiful thing about this work is that you do not have to talk about it, right? So this is the leading edge, cutting edge, top dog in holistic or well, holistic, yeah. It is total, it's totally holistic in the nature that it works with the person. But in the realms of mental health, this is the top dog. Okay. And there's there's some other top dogs out there that have the title of top dog, but because people don't know about this yet, because it's so new, and Michael has only been training people since 2019, right? I'm the 13th cohort to go through this type of training. That means there's not a lot of people out there in the world who are doing this work. Okay. And this guy's from Indiana, so it's it's you know, it's around here, right? There's he's done some trainings up in Chicago. Excuse me. He's done some trainings down in Florida. And other than that, he's done a lot of lot of trainings around Fort Wayne, Indiana. And I'm very happy to be one of his his uh a person who is now a part of his army of healers who are set out to help one million people resolve post-traumatic stress, limiting beliefs, and trauma. Okay, super cool. Super cool. And I can't quite tell you exactly how it works, but it's it's works, it works through neuroscience. Okay, so understanding how neuroscience works and having a really big appreciation for that myself, I found this work to be amazing, incredible. And a lot of it is storytelling, which is really cool. That's why I like telling stories, right? And a lot of it is done by the practitioner doing most of the talking. And the person there's basically two, excuse me, again, gosh, with the yawns. There's basically I wasn't yawning all day long, and here I am sitting down to do a podcast, and here we go, yawning. But there's basically two conditions for people to do Cortina method, okay? Is that it makes sense while we're doing it, each step builds upon the next uh to make sure that it makes sense to you. So I explain a lot of things to you guys who are who are curious about this work, right? So I explain a lot of that, and then and it makes good sense. Meaning it makes sense to you, like, oh, okay, I get why we're doing that, or I understand this now, you know, and I I share a lot of this through story, narrative, metaphors, and it's brilliant, absolutely brilliant what can be done for this work. So over the training, I watched about six films so so far that I can think of about different people who have Michael has demonstrated this the process, right, multiple times, and I got to see multiple different types of traumatic issues that people had resolved fast within 90 minutes, right? And some of these traumas people had been ha having, right, and held on to for like 40, 50 years, you know, 20, 40, 20, 20 and 50 years, right? One of two of the two of the main people that I remember like that really jumped out to me was this older veteran. He was maybe in his 80s, late late 70s, 80s, perhaps, probably 80s, more likely. And then this lady who is like maybe in her upper 50s, right? This lady had some stuff happen to her when she was like younger in her 20s that was like physical abuse, sexual abuse. But basically, she would always see herself being helpless and seeing herself have those things being done to her, and she would like completely freeze. She wouldn't leave her house, she wouldn't go to the store, she didn't do social engagements, she wouldn't go out to eat at restaurants, things like that. And that that's a big bummer, right? That's that's not a life to live, right? So she'd been dealing with that, and he resolved that in a little over an hour. He went kind of quickly with that one, but he's he's the master, he's been in this for a long time. And the other person that really made a big impact in in me, watching witnessing somebody do this was this veteran. He served in the Vietnam War, and he had his troop or platoon die uh near him, so that was intense. And then he watched a helicopter crash near him. And these are these are stories that Michael shared with us after this wasn't talked about during the session, right? You don't have to talk about it, you don't have to relive it. We just need like little cliff notes to kind of get things moving forward. But and then later, that guy witnessed his wife and two sons pass. So that was heavy, really heavy. And he had been holding on to those uh memories and emotions for a long time, and it left him, you know, he was in like in some sort of a nursing facility, and he was, you know, at his his 30-day follow-up, he was reporting that he was like a thousand times better and he could do different things, he could go out, he doesn't get triggered by like this like loud sounds, you know, that causes him to, you know, be scared, startled, right? Sometimes people have that and they don't they don't even think that that's a a trauma response. You know, if you're easily startled, like like an office worker like comes around the corner and you're like, oh, I didn't even see you there, you know. That's actually a trauma response because you're hyper-vigilant, you're like on guard, you know, and I I love, love, love, love this stuff. And, you know, I I do all through this through my my health coaching, my coaching background. Not as a massage therapist, obviously, when you're working through these things, this is out of my scope of practice as a massage therapist, but as a coaching tool, this works right in alignment with my mind-body practice that I already work with people on. Because a lot of people get stuck in their body, right? They they have a physical issue that they get stuck on and they can't progress forward, or they they're not allowing or yeah, they're not allowing or their body is not open to the idea of having a somatic emotional release, right? Through some of the work that I do. And a lot of people just don't want to go into a lot of that heaviness. But what's really fascinating to to me about this work is that I can see how when somebody releases some of their traumatic memories and some of these limiting beliefs they have about like maybe I suck or I'm not good enough, or you know, nobody appreciates me, nobody wants me around, right? These are these are generalities, but like that affects regular people. You know, regular people struggle with limiting beliefs all the time. When I first started going to therapy, one of the things that I wanted my therapist to resolve for me was, how can you help me resolve a limiting belief? And he just kind of like grinned and gave me this weird little look. And he's like, Well, we can we can just make it easier to like accept things that we can't control. It's like, well, yeah, but but that sucks. Like, I'm I'm running on autopilot with these negative things in my head. I want them to go away. And you know, like he basically flat out told me, he's like, Yeah, I'm a you know, I I'm a mental health therapist, uh licensed clinical counselor is what he was, and licensed professional clinical counselor at that. And it turns out he was not a professional at all. He actually lost his job because yeah, you can't have sex with your clients, you know. That's that's a big no-no in the realm of you know customer service, really, when it comes down to it. But um so screw that guy and anything that he ever thinks. But sorry, brain fart. But yeah, treat working with the body and help the mind and everything else, right? Because, you know, understanding the mind-body connection and understanding how we hold stuff, right? In our body, our physical body holds stuff, you know. We we might feel like a tightness in our chest, we might feel a heaviness of the weight of the world on our shoulders, you know, we might have, you know, even on our wrists, you know, we might hold tension in our wrists sometimes, depending on what happened to us. We might hold tension in our our bodies, you know, we might not allow our butthole to relax because we're so puckered up, because we're so hyper-vigilant based upon the things that we experienced when we were younger, that our brain really hasn't been able to let go of. So the whole point of Cortina method is to optimize the brain through a neuroscience lens and then just release some of that stuff. So it's not so lingering and not so heavy. Okay. And that's that's really what I learned. And I learned how to do this effectively, efficiently, in about 90 minutes to two hours. That's base level. So, you know, a lot of people struggle with that stuff. A lot of people struggle with that stuff. I've had a lot of friends that I've talked to since doing this, and they'll they'll message me and they'll be like, Joel, that's the only reason I don't do therapy, is because I don't want to talk about it. I don't want to go back there, I don't want to revisit it. I don't want to even do a modality that allows me to process it that that could bring up an emotional response, right? And the beautiful thing is that when your brain targets that emotional response, it's like it's on this roller coaster of emotion and you can't get off of it. You know how people ruminate about things, right? Well, what if you just woke up and like that whole day in your head, you just think that you suck all day long, and then you forget to like take a shower, you forget to feed yourself, you forget to water the the flowers, you forget to just live, right? Because you're so struck and in this victim mentality struggle bus, right? And I have had sessions done of this, I'm sorry, visits working on my language. I've had two visits done, two paid visits with a friend of mine, and it totally changed my life. Absolutely has changed my life. I I do not want to diminish that whatsoever. Because even as I'm speaking right now, I don't have chaos in my head running at the same time, telling me that I'm talking about something silly or that nobody wants to hear it, or things like that, right? I I would have limiting beliefs in my head like that stuff, and I would let it run the show. But since April 28th, I've not let that run the show. Since June 2nd, I have not let that run the show, and it's gotten much better since June 2nd. June 2nd, we really cleared some stuff, and I learned how to very clearly clear things for people. And I'm really excited to be doing this for more and more people because why spend any more time in therapy trying to think your way out of a problem? And I explain that to clients as they come in. We we share some stories and I share a lot of insights about how this work works through story rather than ask you a thousand questions, right? And it it it flips everything about mental health on its head. And if you don't believe me, go to michaelcortina.com, view anything about the Cortina method, Google it. There's some great articles out there by the National Institute of Mental Health where they have looked at this and it's it's a you know, they consider it like a therapy, but it's not really a therapy because you're not really like diving into a lot of stuff. You're not giving advice or anything like that, you're just processing and helping the brain move through, but you can do it in one or two sessions with you know complex PTSD, stuff like that, complex traumas. It's lovely, absolutely lovely what it can do for people. So I'm really, really glad to be adding this into my my repertoire and be able to help people. And this also works via Zoom. So, you people out there who are listening to this who don't have the opportunity to see me in person, this absolutely works with 90% effective rating, just like if you were to be here in front of me in person. And I got to witness some of these sessions or visits being done. Sorry, there it is again. Old habits, right? Some of these visits being done with Zoom guests, so that way they can get this done in real time as well. And it works just as incredibly. In fact, one of the ladies who was on one of the films that I watched was a therapist who was in my training. So she was commenting and be like, Oh, yeah, I was like a completely different person back then, right? It's so cool, so so super cool. So, yeah, if you guys are curious about this work, I'm gonna kind of keep this episode a little short here. Actually, at 20 minutes, more likely what what they should be, right? I know the last one went over a little bit, and I appreciate that, but I really wanted to talk about Cortina method a little bit today to let some people know some more things. I still can't tell you how the process works because I'm under a contract to protect the work because it's you know, it should be protected. Not everybody should just have free access to this because it is it's something that's changing lives. So that's lovely. But if you guys are curious, right, even if you are somewhere else in another country, another time zone, go to fieldsmindbody.com, check out my website, and then go to fieldsmindbody.jane, j-a-n-e-a-p dot com. That's my booking site. If you want to book a session directly, or a visit, gosh, we did it again. If you want to book a visit directly through there, you can book a discovery call. They're about 15-20 minutes, you know, maybe not even that long, depending on how well we might know each other, or whatever questions you might have for me. I try to tell everybody what they need to know right then and there. And yeah, this work is absolutely changing lives, and I'm so ready to make a huge difference, huge impact in people's lives for people who are just you know sick of going to therapy and then talking with a therapist, or maybe they're not even going to therapy because they don't want to talk to a therapist about the problem, but they still want it resolved quickly, efficiently. Like I said, one, two session stops. So, yeah, that's about the Cortina method. Pretty much as much as I can probably talk about it before going into like more details and stories and stuff like that, that that we do when we're together for a visit. But yeah, so that's that's today's episode. It's a little bit about the Cortina method and just how beautiful of a training it is. It's so beautiful. And not a lot of people are trained in this. And like I said, it's more effective than EMDR, more effective than any kind of talk therapy, even like brain spotting, more effective than like TMS, more effective than more effective than psychedelics. I I want to talk about this real quickly, right? I know I'm trying to wrap this up, but a reason I studied psychedelics so much is because they're high effective ratings. Okay. And I believe it was either phase two, phase three of the clinical trials that MAPS, uh multidisciplinary association of psychedelic studies, had done for their MDMA therapy, right? So you get some therapy ahead of sessions, you do like two or three MDMA sessions, and then you do some therapy afterwards, right, for integration. Integration is key, right? But so I studied that stuff, right? And after their second or third clinical trial, they basically found out that after going through this with MDMA, MDMA has a 66% cure rate for PTSD and then an 80% clinically reduced symptoms of PTSD. Okay. That's great. Compared to a pharmac pharmacological model, that blows it out of the dang water, right? And also, there is no such thing as a chemical imbalance in your brain. That's horseshit that was created by a company, a business model that was designed to make money on you. Right? Obviously, right? Chemical imbalances, horse shit. It's a file that needs to be closed. That's it. Okay. But psychedelics, right, still don't have a 90% effective rating after one or two sessions without doing drugs, right? If you want to, if you're like, well, I don't like MDMA sounds great, but I still gotta do drugs. I still gotta like come to terms with some things, right? This goes around all of it. Okay. Somebody, a friend of mine made a comment the other day. I posted some stuff about Cortina on my personal Facebook page, and they were like, which is a professional page anyway, but they were like, Yeah, this and psilocybin. It's like, okay. You know, cool. I'm I'm down for it, right? I'm not gonna discard it. But at the same time, this is extremely effective on its own. If you want to do psilocybin on your own, go for it, right? But I don't condone it, but go to somewhere where it's safe, right? You know what I mean? But I've said all these things before on the Drugs Herbs and Society episode. If you want to listen to it, it's quite fun. But 90% effective rating versus a 66% effective rating or 80% clinically reduced symptoms of PTSD. I'd rather go with a 90% effective rating for one or two sessions and get it done and resolved and over, right? Rather than have to go through some of that muck too. I mean, you can. You know, I'm not giving advice and I'm not like you should do this, you shouldn't do this, right? I'm asking you to discern what is logical, what makes sense, and what kind of result you want, right? Ultimately, it's always your choice about how you should proceed with your treatments, right? And that's why we work in such close tandem and like there's such a connection when I'm doing Cortina method with people because I'm fully committed to helping my clients resolve limiting beliefs, post-traumatic stress, or traumatic memories, right? That are still replaying on that, those programs, right? On the underneath of our daily life, right? So anyway, and I still do body work, I still love massage therapy. I'm really kind of coming back to massage therapy, and I'm like, man, I I really do enjoy helping people with neck, back, shoulder pain, any kind of like head tension, muscular tension, you know, all kinds of stuff like that. I I still love doing that. Like hands-on, there's something tactile to it. I'm very much a kinesthetic learner, and so hands-on body work, hands-on doing things, right, really, really allows me to do my craft. And then cardio sacral therapy and somatoemotional release. I'm a better practitioner now because of the inner work that I have been doing. I can hold so much better presence with people, and I'm not distracted in my own head. And it's almost like my ADHD like doesn't quite exist anymore. That's a big statement, okay? And that's my experience based upon the things that I've been doing doing and working on myself to get better, right? But anyway, this has been your episode 16, guys. I'm so thankful you had joined me today. I hope you enjoyed your Snapple. If you had a Snapple, and if not, you know, I hope I hope you're just doing well and you're being good and taking care of your friends, your families. You know, reach out to people who care for you because yeah, or just reach out to people. It's always good to have a connection, right? Whether they're weirdos or whether they're savages or whatever, or a coven of wizards, right? Whatever you want to do, coven of witches, you know, there's some witch covens around here that are pretty cool too. But anyway, I hope you guys take care of yourselves, hydrate, move your body, watch something that makes you laugh, right? Watch something that makes you a little frightened, you know, if you're down for that. Feel your feelings, you know what I mean? They're valid, they're totally valid. And yeah, if you're curious, book a session with Fields Mind Body Therapies at FieldsMybody.com. Sorry, distracted for a minute myself. Anyway, take care, guys, and I hope you all have a wonderful, wonderful week. Meow.
