Reading the powerful, active, living Word of God brings comfort when facing life's many trials. But when we are unable to open a physical Bible, just listening to the words of Scripture can bring reassurance as well.

For anyone needing encouragement before going to sleep at night, listen as Fritz reads several passages from the book of Psalms.

"Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path" (Psalm 119:105)

Psalm twenty three. The Lord is my shepherd, I shall lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil. My cup runs over. Surely goodness and loving kindness shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the Lord's house forever. Psalm one twenty one. I will lift up my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved. He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper. The Lord is your shade on your right hand. The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forward and forevermore. Psalm 139. Lord, you have searched me and you know me. You know my sitting down and my rising up. You perceive my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word on my tongue, but behold, Lord, you know it altogether. You hemm me in behind and before. You laid your hand on me, this knowledge is beyond me. It's lofty, I can't attain it. Where could I go from your spirit, or where could I flee from your presence? If I ascend up into heaven, you are there. If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, you are there. If I take the wings of the dawn and settle in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand will lead me, and your right hand will hold me. If I say surely the darkness will overwhelm me, the light around me will be night, even the darkness doesn't hide from you, but the night shines as the day. The darkness is like light to you, for you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful, my soul knows that very well. My frame wasn't hidden from you when I was made in secret, woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my body. In your book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there were none of them. How precious to me are your thoughts, O God, how vast is their sum. If I would count them, they are more in number than the sand. When I wake up I am still with you. Search me, God, and know my heart. Try me and know my thoughts. See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way. Psalm forty six verse ten. Be still and know that I am God. Psalm four verse eight. I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe.
