There are times when our circumstances cause us to fear what might happen next. We think that perhaps God isn't listening, or He is busy, or He doesn't care about our situations. The Psalms, however, give us numerous assurances that we need not worry - God will never leave us nor forsake us.
Today's short, five-minute podcast should bring you comfort and peace regardless of where you find yourself today.
"Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path" (Psalm 119:105)
Psalm four. Answer me when I call, God of my righteousness. Give me relief from my distress. Have mercy on me and hear my prayer. The Lord will hear when I call to him. Search your own heart on your bed and be still. Put your trust in the Lord. O Lord, let the light of your face shine on us. You have put gladness in my heart. In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep. For you alone, O Lord, make me live in safety. Psalm thirty four. I will bless the Lord at all times. His praise will always be in my mouth. My soul shall boast in the Lord, the humble shall hear of it and be glad. O magnify the Lord with me, let's exalt his name together. I sought the Lord and He answered me, and delivered me from all my fears. This poor man cried and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. The Lord's angel encamps around those who fear him and delivers them. O taste and see that the Lord is good. Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. O fear the Lord, you his saints, for there is no lack with those who fear him. But those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing. Come, you children, listen to me, I will teach you the fear of the Lord. Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies. Depart from evil and do good. Seek peace and pursue it. The Lord's eyes are toward the righteous, his ears listen to their cry. The righteous cry and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. He protects all of his bones. Not one of them is broken. The Lord redeems the soul of his servants. None of those who take refuge in him shall be condemned. Psalm fifty six. Be merciful to me, God, for man wants to swallow me up. All day long he attacks and oppresses me. My enemies want to swallow me up all day long, for there are many who fight proudly against me. When I am afraid I will put my trust in you. In God I praise His Word. In God I put my trust. I will not be afraid. What can flesh do to me? In God I will praise His Word, in the Lord I will praise His Word. I have put my trust in God, I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? Your vows are on me, God, I will give thank offerings to you, for you have delivered my soul from death and prevented my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living. Psalm one forty two. I cry with my voice to the Lord. With my voice I ask the Lord for mercy. I pour out my complaint before Him, I tell Him my troubles. When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, you knew my route, on the path in which I walk they have hidden a snare for me. Look on my right and see, for there is no one who is concerned for me. Refuge is fled from me, no one cares for my soul. I cried to you, Lord, I said you are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living. Listen to my cry, for I am in desperate need. Deliver me from my persecutors, for they are too strong for me. Bring my soul out of prison, that I may give thanks to your name. The righteous will surround me, for you will be good to me.
