I have two barrels there?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, 6'5 and a 6mm.
SPEAKER_08What were we gonna do with those?
SPEAKER_02Uh, I think the 6'5 is straight. You're gonna just make a heavy 6'5 Creed? That sounds right. And the 6mm is like M24 or something, some other taper like that. I think you want a sporty little 6 GT or something.
SPEAKER_08You know what we should do with that? We should turn that into the um six arc.
SPEAKER_04There you go.
SPEAKER_08That's that's what you were gonna do with it, actually. That's what I was gonna do with that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you were planning you were planning way ahead. Way ahead.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. Didn't I man, you could have I remember the six five barrel there, but I didn't remember the six bill. But anyways, I think I actually traded you a 25 cal barrel for that along the line. But we watched the Everly Stock video of the FAST match. It's a sniper match. Um I think I made Josh watch it. Hopefully you watched it, but it's me intrigued. Like I I know it's all about PRS. Um, you know, we shouldn't mention NRL Hunter, which we're gonna mention NRL Hunter, that's fine. Um it doesn't turn me off, it's fine. Um but that FAST sniper match I did at Camp Atterbury, uh so you have to use a SOCOB cartridge, which is what it's uh I think of a six arc, six five creed, three oh eight, five five, six. Um people are probably yelling at me right now. I don't remember all the other ones, but um I think a six arc and a bull gun would be pretty awesome at a sniper match, especially if you got you know shooter spotter and you can watch each other shoot. Like I don't know. Maybe I'm missing something.
SPEAKER_04Basically a six BR. Basically, seems to work.
SPEAKER_08I mean I've heard guys running like 105s at 2900 with them.
SPEAKER_02Pretty hot, but it sounds hot, yeah.
SPEAKER_08I think that's the number I've heard. I mean, at least 28, and that's perfectly fine. Yeah, that's what I run a 6GT at.
SPEAKER_07Isn't somebody doing like um one of those doing an NAS3 uh six arc that you can load to like stupid high pressure?
SPEAKER_08I'm sure.
SPEAKER_07Have you have you heard about that?
SPEAKER_08I don't know what NAS what is that?
SPEAKER_07It's uh it's like a it's a steel case deal that um they came out with especially for like five.
SPEAKER_08Is that like the seven back country or something like that? That's that's like a high pressure case too, isn't it?
SPEAKER_07Maybe I'm not sure. So it's non-reloadable, but you can load it high pressure and get real high velocities out of it. So you could turn a six arc into you probably get like three thousand feet per second. Yeah, yeah. Turn them into a six creed. I think you can. Like there's there's guys with with five five six running seventy-seven grain in like a sixteen-inch barrel at like twenty eight hundred plus feet per second.
SPEAKER_02I think shortening shortening the lugs every every shot as well.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. That's actually funny. I I got a I got a message from uh Chuck Langley. Lang Langley. Um and I'm sorry, Chuck. He uh you see he shot the uh MDT frostbite with you, and he was shooting gas gun. He's historically shot he's actually he shot like an M1A for a bunch of years under gas gun, uh, you know, 308, Springfield, whatever. But he sent me picks that he he sheared off a few lugs on his gas gun at uh MDT frostbite, had to go home early. Yeah, I've never I've never shot a gas gun that much, so that kind of surprised me, but man.
SPEAKER_07With gas gun, all failures are possible. Exactly. Yeah, that's no joke. Should just call that Murphy's gun.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, the whole division, Murphy's division.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, yeah, yeah. What could go wrong?
SPEAKER_08Right.
SPEAKER_07I'm sorry, I love you gas gunners.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, oh yeah. It looks fun. Man, when you see somebody, you know, like make an impact and then like repeat that engagement and like pow pow, impact impact, like that looks awesome. You know, I I've all I I shot, I don't know, 30 stages last year, gas gun across a one pro match uh gap grind, and then the other one was uh one day up at War Rifles, and I had one stage that I actually enjoyed, and that was at KM at the Gap Grind, 300 yard mover. Like I was just dialed in and it was just like paw pow, moved you know, safe, move to the next position, pow pow. You know, like it felt awesome, but it um I got a lot of respect for gas gunners now, you know.
SPEAKER_07We had a uh we had a gas gun show match uh at at STC.
SPEAKER_08Um we're not gonna talk about gas gun show though. We can talk about uh I love Richard and it it it was a really fun match.
SPEAKER_07Uh Richard Cables came down uh and loaned me uh one of his uh one of his uh 556 Geisley rifles, and I shot a few stages during the match, and it's kind of addicting.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, well that that's a little different format too, right? Like that's actually time plus points. Or no time.
SPEAKER_07Well the way that yeah, it's it's sort of time basically the idea is that everybody should clean. I set up the match with the with the goal of everybody should be able to clean this stage. It's about how fast you can get through it. Okay. And um, you know, I had about three MOA targets on average. So not gimmies, but but a lot more a lot more forgiving than uh than what we're used to with uh PRS matches. And uh it was it was fun. It was interesting to see uh everybody navigate through the stages. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08So and it's I mean you just gotta you gotta you gotta clean it and then get your time, right?
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_08And if you have leftover targets, you get penalized.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, yeah, basically. And then they and then they basically treat every single stage as if as if it's a like a a match in itself. Like the winner of the stage gets a hundred points for that stage. And uh then there's placement based on that. It's all you know basically as uh. Yeah. So you end up with a ton a ton of points at the end, but but um you know, like first place be the every every place.
SPEAKER_08Clean the whole match, you get what, maybe a thousand points.
SPEAKER_07I had an eight stage match for it, but yeah. Pretty neat.
SPEAKER_08That's interesting.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. Josh, uh you had me pull some bullets out. 25 cal A tips. Because you needed to see what lot number I had on these.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_08What are you cooking up? The last like conversations we've had, it's six mil, six mil, six mil. Maybe I'll try twenty-five. Now I'll catch you. Came back came back for another hit.
SPEAKER_02I know. Uh numbers look too good on paper to just let it sit in the safe. So now I spun up a fresh one um a few days ago, found a good load with my go-to burgers, and I had a few A-tips left over. I'm like, I'm gonna just load them exactly the same. If they shoot mediocre, I'm not even gonna chase it. Um, I'm just gonna stick with my burgers. Well, threw the same powder, didn't touch the seating die, went down there, put eight shots into like a point two group. I'm like, oh boy, this is gonna be fine financially unwell here. And uh so then I I tested them again just to verify the next day. And I actually did three different seating depths because I I want to play with some longer freeboard. So I'm like, this is where I'd like it to sit if it was like 60 off, sure. But it was really in my rear, it's like 20 off.
SPEAKER_08You want to you are you shooting for mag link, like go as long as you can in the mag and then not necessarily.
SPEAKER_02I was just looking at where the where the base uh or the you know the boat tail uh meets their the diameter of the bullet and and being above the next shoulder junction. Um because the way that first load was actually weight, it's way deep. I mean it's it's probably jumping 75 foul, but it's way past the next shoulder junction. Okay. Um so I moved them out 30, I moved them out 30 again. So basically 45 and 15 off, and the 75 off I originally shot, and all of them shot stupid small, and I'm like, man, this is this is bad for me and really good at the same time. What cartridge did you say you did? 25 by 47. 47, yeah.
SPEAKER_08Hey, that that one that that one out there at uh Twin Peaks, Fox Canyon.
SPEAKER_07Yes, it did.
SPEAKER_08With those bullets.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. Yeah, it's seeming like a pretty darn good combo.
SPEAKER_08It's won a lot of matches in the last couple years. I mean, that's Clay shot it in one match, Austin's won matches, Austin, the other Austin's won 25, GT. Jeff, I think won a match of the 25. A lot of guys. Keith Rudisil, I mean, he's a 25 guy.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean, I shot 25 for like three years there. And I don't know. I I spun up that six last year, and I was like, yeah, this is pretty easy. Vargetting 105s just works every time. And I've been shooting that for about a year, and then now I'm kind of back on that 25-itch, so I scratched it.
SPEAKER_08And here we are.
SPEAKER_02Here we are.
SPEAKER_08I got some bullets and you got some barrel work to do for me.
SPEAKER_02I gotta prove, I gotta prove to Steiner that I can actually see my impacts with a 25 because apparently I can't.
SPEAKER_07So it's gonna be interesting at the end of the year to see if uh 25's even like let's just call it the collective 25 across all cartridges can uh can beat the dasher in the top top 200.
SPEAKER_08I you know, so it's it's gonna depend on what people are shooting at the finale. And I think the finale is gonna be a dasher match, right? At twisted barrel. That's fair. Yeah, that's fair. But I bet if you took a cross section of you know the 47, 48 matches, pro matches, I bet if you took a cross section of that, um, I bet at least 15 or 25s.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_08You know, 15 wins, um, you're gonna have probably 10 or 15 6'5 Creed.
SPEAKER_02And what's it's also just the number that you know, there's more guys shooting that particular cartridge, right? Um I I and pretty much all my X47s I've ever shot have shot as well or better than any BR or dasher out there. It it's more the whoever's shooting the most of whatever that that time and time and day is probably your odds are already higher.
SPEAKER_08So yeah, and I mean Gale's won two matches already this year. He shoots six GT. You know, so yeah, we'll gonna have to wait and see. Speaking of winners, yeah. Oh yeah, I was I was gonna share my screen. You're probably gonna say the exact same thing, right?
SPEAKER_07Talk about Well, I was uh I was actually gonna um bring up that you got to spend some time down at Twisted Barrel this past weekend.
SPEAKER_08Oh yeah, you found your calling, Ken. Yeah. Uh man, I had a good time. Uh William had a good time. Um it started out in a freaking downpour. Um and I mean, like, so we left the uh uh covered awnings on most of the firing line, and we had our stuff up there, rifles and my bag, and we actually had like soft rifle cases and stuff set out. And we're like, all right, we're gonna walk over to the other, to like the main area to do the match brief. And like towards the end of the match brief, it's coming down. It's pouring, pouring rain. Yeah, it's like, oh damn. Well, match is starting, let's get out there. You know, we all ran out to the stages, and it was like raining sideways underneath that awning that like all my stuff is soaked. Like everything's soaked. I'm soaking, like, and by the time I'm there, I'm soaking wet. Like, it's what it is. I'm like, I kind of don't want to do this anymore.
unknownYou know.
SPEAKER_07What do you mean? You you run the precision rain series. You're supposed to love this.
SPEAKER_08And I made that joke, uh, precision rain series. And then um, man, even in uh I don't know, that first stage or so we're holding pretty good wind. I give us rain in sideways, but you could see, yeah, you know, if you're shooting a rain, you can you can see what your dope needs to be. And I'm like, I started out, I think I held a mil, mil and a half or whatever at 75 yards, you know. I'm like, man, it's and it hit, it hit right exactly where I wanted. I'm like, all right, we're on. This is good. And then then, man, I bet I was three stages in. Actually, I dropped the last impact on my third stage. I'm like, feeling pretty good about this. I had one stage that I'm dropping four just because I had like mag issues and stuff, feeding issues. I was pushing my mag against the bag and you know, I ended up dropping a couple and timing out, whatever, and was kind of flustered. But yeah, I I shot well. William had a great time. Um I didn't look at impact, it was on impact scoring, and I didn't look one time. Um it just you know, I I looked to see what snake was happening at Snake River. It's the only time I opened up impact, and I'm like, uh, just take stage by stage, just shoot stage by stage, see how it works out. And at the end, I won by three. So yeah. Shout out to those guys at Twisted Barrel. Yeah, it's it felt good to it's the first PRS match of any kind that I've won. I've I've won uh one or two NRL 22 matches, of course. You know, but never a PRS Rimpire.
SPEAKER_07Maybe you need to take the hint. A big bad recoil is real scary, isn't it?
SPEAKER_08Oh, it is. It is. My rim fire gun's way too heavy. Yeah, man.
SPEAKER_07I think rim fires and rim fire is kind of like just taking pictures, basically. Yeah. You just click and watch uh watch the target get dinged.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, yeah. If you got a good wind call and good dope.
SPEAKER_07A kid. A kid. Don't don't at me, rim fire shooters.
SPEAKER_02Josh. Um yeah, just another shout out. Uh have you guys seen that Michael Meads uh simulator PRS game?
SPEAKER_08I've seen it. I haven't taken time to play with it. You've been are you addicted? Are you hooked?
SPEAKER_02No. Um I opened it up about two months ago just to see what it's all about. And it it's actually super interesting. I know these guys are getting pretty, pretty big and into the heat of it on Facebook there. I see they're competing, uh, Geary winning, which is odd. Uh I guess if you can't, you know, come to a real match, you just win online. But um, yeah, it it's super real. I mean, it's the ballistics are all like you put in your Zach ballistics, and it does exactly that. There's a wind meter on the screen, and he's got like Mirage built into like Indiana. It's just a soupy mirage-y looking screen, and that's totally accurate. Yeah, and it's pretty cool. So you can, you know, your your reticles in there, everything. So it it looks like you're looking through your scope, you're looking at the conditions in the corner of the screen, like what the wind is, and it it will change as you're shooting, so then you have to add some or else you'll miss.
SPEAKER_05And okay.
SPEAKER_02It's uh I I think it could be a good trainer. Um, but definitely something to maybe look at if you're into that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, check it out, guys. Is it does it have my uh my loophole VX6 uh duplex reticle? Can I use that?
SPEAKER_02I'm not sure, but after hearing this, he could probably edit for you.
SPEAKER_08Close enough. Yeah. That's awesome. All right, let's talk Snake River. Um, I went through and created this fancy graphic uh before we got started here. Um just to see who who made good picks. Uh Beamer, I think you actually dropped off the call a little bit before we made picks. Um I did.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. The nice thing about not making picks is you can't lose.
SPEAKER_08No, you weren't wrong. Not even a little bit. I shot for the moon, and uh I just so I the score I put on here is basically what position were they in versus uh what position I thought they were gonna go. And um yeah, I didn't do so hot. Um Austin did a CRB picks. He so he went uh Berticini Watts and Priest. Uh Berticini did well. Uh Austin then picked for himself too. He went Ghidarzy, Grizzly, Haymore, which turned out to be pretty good. Only a 14 difference there. Grizzly kind of back a little ways. Josh, you picked Griasley to win it. Ghidarzy Piper. Close. I man, when we I when we had Noel on here, I I was full of hope for him. I and I still am. I still am. I think he's got the right mindset. Um I bet I bet he's a little bit upset with himself for being 14th, and who knows? Maybe you know, I had to dig into the scores, but maybe something happened there. Um But Seth was the most right.
SPEAKER_02Seth must have been feeding them other guys some different hot dogs because there's no way he did that.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, it seems it seems rigged. That is rigged. Better check the log, check the logs and then back scoring.
SPEAKER_08Oh boy. Sorry. Yeah, yeah. Um, I re-listened to that episode when we were driving the RV home. Um, when we were talking about the hot dog water. And Pimer, did you listen to it at all?
SPEAKER_05I did, yeah.
SPEAKER_08Okay. And I didn't catch this until after the fact. I didn't hear Austin say this, but when he when he he's like, yeah, we'll serve him wiener aid, like Gatorade, but hot dog water. Like, man, I was I was laughing so hard, I was crying. That was so funny. So funny.
SPEAKER_05But yeah.
SPEAKER_08So uh let's bring Ghadarzi on here. All right, welcome to the show. Nick Gedarzee, winner of the Snake River Outdoorsman, uh, presented by Night Force. Dude, welcome. Congrats on the win this weekend.
SPEAKER_01Thanks, buddy. Appreciate it.
SPEAKER_08Heck yeah, man. Um last time I was there, you won this match. Uh this this is it the second time you won this match or more.
SPEAKER_01Man, I get them mixed up. There's a couple matches in Idaho, and I won a couple here and a couple there, so I don't remember. Maybe second, maybe third.
SPEAKER_08Sure. Yeah. It seems like, I mean, the when I was there in 24 and shot it, uh, and you just dominated, man. And I uh and watching you shoot, I'm like, this is your style of shooting too, isn't it? Like kind of natural props and you know, outdoor. Uh uh, I mean, obviously we shoot outdoors, but like uh natural terrain where we're hiding targets behind things and up on the mountain and stuff like that. Like that's that seems like totally you, doesn't it?
SPEAKER_01Man, you're talking about the last time you were there, you saw this great shooting, but but there was none of that this time. It was survival mode. But I mean, I like to shoot more natural drain uh versus uh like a square range.
SPEAKER_08Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. What's uh so what's the plan this year? You got you got a match winning now. Um what uh you know last year, uh last year you were one and done. You w you I think you shot one pro match, you won one pro match, and then dominated on the regional side of things.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. No, I didn't dominate. I got second in the region, and that's how I got into the finale. So yep.
SPEAKER_08So what's uh what's the plan for 26? Um you got a couple more pro matches uh on the agenda?
SPEAKER_01I got one more here uh that I could drive to within a couple hours, and that's gonna be it. Yeah, I'm gonna shoot a couple NRL, and then uh that's it. You're one away, man.
SPEAKER_03What the heck? One away one more. Yep.
SPEAKER_07No joke. Okay. Um he's just doing it for the love of the game, not to win the game. I I guess. I guess.
SPEAKER_08Um so I guess with that in mind, um, you know, did you take some of that mindset, you know, into a match like this, and you're just kind of a little more relaxed, you know, while you're shooting. If you're like, yeah, I don't know, you know, I'm only gonna go to matches I can drive to and see how well I do. Is that it?
SPEAKER_01Man, I yeah, it's kind of the same thing for me. Uh I just flying with the TSA and all that, for some reason I decided not to do it this year. I'm just gonna drive to matches that I can, and with diesel being close to seven dollars a gallon. I think I'm gonna stay close. You know, I get my ass kicked here locally enough. I don't need to travel somewhere. Sure. Sure. You got a pretty good crowd up here that kind of beat you down. So yeah, stay local.
SPEAKER_08Yep. Yep. And I'm just saying, man, you were third, you were third at the lead farm. Um earn 99 points. Well, uh that when the hybrid scoring gets put in there, it'll be a little bit different. But you earn a lot of points there, earned a hundred here. Uh you'll you'll earn another uh you possibly could earn another hundred, right? So you could have two ninety something. And then you think you'll go to the finale?
SPEAKER_01I'll go to the finale if I if I shoot one more and it's a qualifying match, I'll go I'll go to the finale.
SPEAKER_08Heck yeah. Heck yeah. That's awesome. Uh literally doing it for the love of the sport then, right? Yeah. Right on.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_08Right on. Yeah, one of the uh one of the things we're talking about right before you joined uh was uh following your Instagram channel and and uh and the coyote videos. That is sweet.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. You tell me let's go elk hunting or let's go shoot a match, I'll I'll check my calendar, but you tell me let's go shoot hunt coyotes, I'm out the door. No joke, right on.
SPEAKER_08How so are you are you using uh like a trigger cam to film all that? Or do you um you have like a spotter set up off to the side that you you record all on your phone or something? How do you do that?
SPEAKER_01You know, it varies. If it's a nice bright day, I'll just record through a phone scope, which is on my phone and on my Suaro Bino. If if the day is a little bit cloudy or uh kind of a gloomy day, I break out the spotter uh because something about digital zoom versus optical zoom like it darkens the video. So it all depends on conditions, but it's phone scope either uh on the spotter or a binocular.
SPEAKER_07Okay. Yeah. I just had an idea. This would be a million view viral idea that you should use, Nick. You need you've seen those like target POV shots where you can see the trace and the and the impact coming in. You need to you need a you need to you need to trap a coyote. Trap a coyote and put a camera on it and and then get the coyote's P of U as you drill it from like 890 yards.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think most of those guys shoot smaller cali or slower, slower calibers. I don't know if I don't know if 22 Creed is gonna show up real well.
SPEAKER_07It's worth a try.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And you're the man for it. You're the man to do it. Yeah, I guess you uh set up some bait in the in the camera behind the bait as it walks in. Don't miss. Hit the camera. Yeah. See, you gotta figure it out now.
SPEAKER_08I love that idea. Oh yeah. Well, I it might be a little messy on that end too. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01You might get a little you might get a little splatter on the lens. It'd be perfect.
SPEAKER_08Oh man. So what uh well let's talk, let's talk calibers. First, I wanna I wanna ask you when you coyote coyote hunting, what uh what do you typically use? What do you go for?
SPEAKER_01I mean, 22 Creed's been kind of the best thing for me. Uh just because a lot of errors on on the miss range, things happen real quick. Coyote walks out and you got usually less than 10 seconds that it gets away from you. So you gotta be able to range, dial your dope, and shoot. So 22 creed's a little more forgiving on the range side of it. Sure. And uh something about that small bullet going real fast when it hits flesh, just the sound you'll never forget.
SPEAKER_07I feel like I feel like you've had you've posted some uh some clips of taking some really long shots. You did that with the 22 Creed too?
SPEAKER_01I've had some pretty long ones with the 22 Creed. Uh it has to be a calm day. Uh I'd say my most longer ones, more longer ones are probably 7 PRC or 6'5 PRC.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. 7 PRC. What's what do you think the furthest you've shot? Uh one. Well, I guess with one of those big calibers.
SPEAKER_01Man, I used to shoot 300 norm. I improved, and I think I killed one at 1,550 yards, and my buddy right was right next to me, and he almost had a heart attack or something. Yeah. Because you know, boom, and you took a sip of coffee, and then boom, that bullet just hammered that guy up. That's awesome. That's awesome. I've had a few kills, 11, 12, 1300 with the seven. Uh but it's pretty rare that it stands there and it's broad side and the wind is non-existent. It's it's pretty, I'd say there's only a couple shots past a thousand that I've I've I've gotten. Okay. Most of the time you just you just start to put pressure on the trigger and it walks off.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. Are you uh are you calling them in? Like how you know what what's sort of your strategy? You you got a couple good spots by the house or something like that, you go out to and you know where they're gonna be, or you know, do you try to bring them in for a mile, or do you close the distance? Like how, you know, is it different every time?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, all condition dependent. If it's windy, I'm gonna try to bring it in 500 yards and in. Um you know, I hunt uh uh a cattle ranch up here, and everybody that lives there got an AR, and so those coyotes know very well on the on the distant side, and they seem to be at 800 yards, they just kind of sit and laugh at you. And uh all around there's public land, so those coyotes have been shot at many, many times. So calling them in actually scares them. If you turn on the call, they actually run away. They've heard it so much. So one thing I'll do is during mating season, if I see one bedded down or I just seen it kind of lay down, I'll maybe let out a howl. They get pretty territorial, they'll walk up on top of the hill, and then you try to pick them off of that. But other than that, calls don't work. Um maybe at night, uh, but even then I don't do a whole lot of calling because I've seen them. You light up a call and they're just literally getting getting out of there. They're like, we heard that before.
SPEAKER_08Oh yeah. Yeah. Josh and I went to South Dakota and had a really similar experience where I I man, one of the last stands that we had, I remember turning the call on, and I'm like, oh, there's two right there, 700 yards, walking away from us. Yep. And they were just like, whatever, out of here, you know? Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And that was actually uh it was kind of insulting. We we struggled that trip, but whatever. Kevin was like, you guys kill coyotes out here? Uh yes, it it works, but yep, everything we tried uh pretty much did not work that trip.
SPEAKER_08So I mean the way Nick's describing, you know, a lot of guys shooting at him with AR said I I'm guessing every coyote we saw had that similar experience. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01In fact, somebody recommended me to this cattle rancher. He called me over and explained to me how it's so hard to hunt coyotes, and people have shot his propane tanks and solar panels. So he's not he's not super happy with with me being there. And as we're talking, there's a coyote that starts barking at us about 800 yards away. And he's like, Yeah, that's what they do. They'll sit there and bark at you. And I was like, Well, I could kill it. He's like, You can? I had my 28. I had my 28 nozzler in the truck, and he had a trailer with hay bales on it. So I set up a spotting scope, do my three, you know, get up on there, and it's like, Lord, please don't let me miss in front of this guy. Like, I don't care if I mixed, missed, miss the next 10, but this one needs to count. And I sent that bullet and I watched that 195 just land right in the chest of that coyote, just like tipped over. And this guy gets off the scope, he's like, Holy cow, who are you? Hands me a stack of keys. It's like you can go anywhere you want. And they're on like, I don't know, 40,000 acres just here next to Spokane where I live. Oh but previously he was just gonna let me hunt a little little property just to make sure I'm good. He'd seen me kill that coyote, hands me a bunch of keys, like, see you later. That's awesome. If I'd have missed that coyote, my my my hunting uh season would be over. He'd be like, yeah, just like everybody else. Yeah. Yep, yep, yep.
SPEAKER_08How much do you remember how much wind you had to hold on that?
SPEAKER_01No, it was like uh maybe a quarter left. It was just I saw just a little drift of wind and I held a quarter and watched hair come off that coyote just float like this, and that thing just dipped over. It was like, thank you, Lord, thank you.
SPEAKER_08No joke.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, this guy thinks I'm God almighty to this day.
SPEAKER_08That's awesome. Yeah. So I guess speaking of calibers, what uh let's talk about Snake River this weekend. What um what was the weather like, wind like, what caliber did you shoot? You know? Let's let's get the rundown.
SPEAKER_01I mean, day one, even at sign-ins and side in, it was pretty brutal. And then day one, we show up there and it's cold, windy, switchy, you know, the wind's going like this, and yeah, I was pretty confused for for the first day. I didn't know what to do. Uh it's pretty tough conditions, I'd say the mass was match was very, very fast, which is outside of my ability. So I was timing out. Yeah, I was not happy how I shot.
SPEAKER_08Well, won the match. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I always say not the best shooter does not win the match, so all the time. Sometimes it happens that yeah.
SPEAKER_08So it was a pretty fast-paced match. Uh what was it part-time? Was it 90 seconds? Or was it a minute?
SPEAKER_01It was a hundred a hundred and four seconds, which I don't know why 104, but it's 104 seconds. I think it's 105. Yeah, yeah. Trolling. Yeah. Yeah. They both are very, very fast shooters. And yeah, they kick my butt. It was an eight-hour drive home. I kept licking my wounds and there wasn't enough time.
SPEAKER_07Man, if that's how you feel. Yeah, everybody else felt.
SPEAKER_08Okay, you did have you did have all day Sunday though, at home, family, you know. So that that I mean that was kind of a posit positive.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, yeah. That was a plus. And that's how I decided to go to the match because I could be back. And on Sunday, I played drums out of church, so I had to be a behind drums at like nine o'clock in the morning.
SPEAKER_08Okay. I could see you at twelve o'clock, one o'clock.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. At home. And yeah.
SPEAKER_08That's awesome. Man. Well, I I'm a little bit bummed that you're you're only gonna shoot another Pro Series match here. I mean, if you end up winning that, you have upper two nineties. Is there a chance that you know, I mean, who knows with this fuel, fuel crisis or whatever, you know, if that's that switches around, like uh and you're hosting a match. I mean you're you're hosting the the KRG windbreaker again this this fall, uh, one of the last matches of the year. But you know, and that I get it. I guess hard to it's it's hard to get out and shoot and shoot a lot and and then especially when you're hosting, right, Beamer? You know? Yeah, tell me about it.
SPEAKER_07That's why I suck so bad now these days.
SPEAKER_08But man, I I hope uh I hope you get another excellent score and hope to see you back here, man.
SPEAKER_01Hell yeah. Yeah, I hope so. So shooting six dasher. I didn't answer that one, I don't think.
SPEAKER_08No, that's all right. What uh is that typically what you shoot?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I don't have anything for matches other than a six-dasher.
SPEAKER_08No joke. Okay. What do you shoot? 470.
SPEAKER_01Six Five Creed. Six Five Creed, okay. Yeah, six Creed.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh, and I got a couple of those, a couple more matches to shoot on the NRL side. So Right on. Yep. Right on.
SPEAKER_08Cool, man. Well, hey, we appreciate you coming on board and uh thanks for talking hunting with us. And uh congrats from this this weekend, dude. Appreciate you.
SPEAKER_07All right, all right, guys. Before you get off, plug your insta Instagram uh page so people can follow you.
SPEAKER_01You know, shocking 300.
SPEAKER_08Shocking 300, yeah. Check it out.
SPEAKER_01The name started because of the 300 Norma I started shooting coyotes with. So shocking 300.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, yeah. Yeah, it is.
SPEAKER_02Shoot the six dash, you're at steel, and then just 300 Norma or coyote.
SPEAKER_01Poor coyote or 28 Nazler.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I mean, uh those Vic calibers don't do a whole lot to them, believe it or not. If you want to keep the hide, right on through. Yeah, man, yeah. Like seven PRC with a 195 burger bullet, just a little pinhole in and a little pinhole out. Sometimes you can't even see where it went in and where it went out. But the 22 Creed though. 22 Creed, yeah. You pick it up and it sounds like a watermelon that got dropped from. Yeah, it's something about speed on little animals. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08What it makes what bullet. Yeah. What bullet out of the 22 Creed?
SPEAKER_01Shoot 88 ELDMs or my latest been 80 LDM. They seem to be a little more less finicky. Seems like you load 88 ELDM and you get them going oh a little over 3,300 feet a second, and man, the sound, the sound, the sound. Oh, that's awesome. Yeah. It's funny because you have somebody in there like, you hit rock. And then he sees coyote tip over, he's like, oh no, you hit it. It literally sounds like you shoot an indoor rock wall. Wow. Yeah. Speed. Speed.
SPEAKER_05Got it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Got it. Fast hunting, slow shooting match. So never game.
SPEAKER_08Yep. Oh, that's awesome, man. Well, we wish you the best. Thanks for coming on, Nick. We'll talk to you soon, buddy. All right, guys.
SPEAKER_02Take care.
SPEAKER_08All right. Doug Koenig, welcome to the show. Man, that that looks like cameo to me. That's where you're standing right now.
SPEAKER_09It definitely is. It definitely is. And uh my legs feel like it's cameo.
SPEAKER_08Heck yeah. I mean, all right. I'll I'll be honest, when we when, well, it was Beamer and I and and and quite a team when we set up the worlds. I dreaded the thought of going out there and all the hiking and all that. But like a couple days in, man, I I felt great. I I felt more alive than ever. And it, I mean, it was awesome being out there. What a great place.
SPEAKER_09You guys, you guys cheated it a little bit. You had a drone drop some targets, didn't you? We did. We did, yeah. Yeah, just a tinge. No, we're uh we're a hundred percent carrying. And one thing that we did uh this year for this year's match is we every one of our targets has AR-500 T-posts. We just were in the process of putting them on every target. Uh so we've been driving T-posts for two days straight, and we'll probably be most of tomorrow. And uh but for us, I think that the key is just you know, because it's so hard to get to stuff here, instead of having to drop targets, if you have a a failure or T-posts get shot in half, we can't get to them in a timely manner uh during the match. So this way, you know, fingers crossed, you know, we shouldn't have any issues like that and not have to, you know, influence the match by dropping any any targets or anything like that. And a lot of work, but you know, it's all about the shooters, you know, putting the best match together we can. Heck yeah.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, it's a it's a cool match. Yeah, and um are you guys so uh obviously Beamer and I are super familiar from putting on the worlds there. Um and if you're driving all new posts, I mean their new looks, some new new stage areas. I mean, you could run there's a thousand different opportunities for stages there.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, so you know, we on on I'd say 70%, we didn't change uh rays that much. I mean, they're very similar. Um we're always kind of tweaking, you know. I think this being our fifth year running the match, we're always making adjustments, target size, target changes, sequences, you know, because every time you're here, you know, the conditions, the wind, things like that. We learn and we we watch what previous matches and shooters and scores are, and you know, we have a a gauge in our head of what we're looking for for the top shooters and what we're looking for for middle of the pack. You know, the bottom line is, you know, we're in in the entertainment business, you know, we want shooters to come out, have a good time, hit some targets. It's hard enough finding a lot of targets out here. Oh, we do, you know, almost every one of our stages is, you know, five targets uh arrays. So it's it's not it's not one or two targets and multiple positions, you know, it's it's a few positions, lots of targets, big pans, uh, a lot of elevation change. And, you know, now it's kind of weird because they had some rain here, so it's actually very green and it looks different. So we paint all our targets black because typically when it's brown, it it pops. Now, you know, so we're experimenting with that. We've got all our target placards out, so it's just uh, you know, again, for us, it's all about the shooter experience, trying to put together a fair uh presentation, but unlike anything else, you know, out there, we use 100% animal targets. We are um so that's that's the deal.
SPEAKER_08I remember uh talking to a friend of mine, uh, I'll leave him nameless, uh, who who is historically a really good shooter, that went to that first uh first match there at Cameo and and just said like he's like there weren't placards on things. And he's like, I can usually find targets, but he's like, I absolutely struggled to find targets on that mountain. Um which you know when we shot it, uh both Beamer and I shot your match in 24, right? April 24.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I believe so.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, I mean it you have you have to train your eye, you know, but most of the targets are next to landmarks, almost all of them had placards. Like it it wasn't bad, right? Like you're absolutely right. You're in the entertainment business, you don't want people, you know, timing out, never getting a shot off for sure.
SPEAKER_09Right. We're not trying to crush people, you know. The the good shooters are gonna do what they do, right? And conditions are gonna be there. Listen, if a good shooter cleans this thing, which I think would be a hundred percent impossible uh with what's here, but it doesn't hurt my feelings. You know, Keith and I our feelings if they get you know close. That's not okay. It's we want everybody else to enjoy hit targets and learn from what's going on and not, you know, listen, we've all been there where we've been demoralized at a match, whether it be because of conditions, because of target size, uh with conditions, you know. I mean, you can only control what you can control, right? We've all been there. You put big targets up because you think it's gonna be windy, it's not, it's a cupcake fest, and you do the opposite, and people hate your guts because they don't hit anything at all. So it's a real tough balance, but you know, with with the animal targets, you know, they're not super tall, but they are wide. That was the whole idea, is they give you a nice wide zone for wind. Um, so it, you know, we feel it's pretty fair, but it's not gonna be easy. But um again, we've tweaked some things, added a couple different uh stages, and I think uh, you know, for for the shooters coming, I think they're gonna have a great time and and hit some targets.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, one thing I really enjoyed about um your guys' match when I shot it was um it just feels like an adventure. You guys cover cover so much ground um out there using using the uh the all the space that cameo has to offer. And uh it's it's just awesome because every stage is is just completely different than the last. And I I think you guys I think you guys did a great job with the target size selection and all that. And I I think as far as I know, that it might be the only PRS match on the schedule that I I would call an adventure match, and it's just it's really unique and awesome, and people need to come shoot it.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, well thank you. Yeah, I mean the whole the whole idea, I I explain it to shooters, it's it's like uh Jurassic Park, you know, and combined with PRS, right? Everybody's in their UTV. The firing line circuit is four and a half miles, and we try to utilize a lot of this area, and just like you said, Michael, is gives you a different look. I mean, you go 100, 150 yards to the next stage and it looks different than the one you just shot. You and if you start to think, hey, I I I got this, you know, I got a fuel for this, or I got the wind, you get to the next stage and it's it's a 180 and it's it's different. You gotta you gotta stay on your toes, that's for sure. You know, and that that you know, when we conceptualized the whole deal, we wanted it to be unique and we wanted it to be uh completely different than anything. And and again, be an adventure, be a completely different test and uh be an event, you know, not just a shooting match. So, you know, I've had a lot of years competing and shooting a lot of different matches and and we wanted to put something together that a match that I would love to go shoot. I wish I could shoot my own match just for the fun, you know?
SPEAKER_04Yep.
SPEAKER_09I feel you there.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. Um hey do you uh do you know do you have a good list of of folks that you know are coming to your match Doug?
SPEAKER_09So you know I'd like to say that I am on top of that myself. That's kind of Keith's department. I know they were down printing out a sheet. We talked about it a little this morning but I'll be completely honest uh not to be rude but I don't really care per se. You know I get you and I have no idea you know people will say well who do you think is going to win or that's what I was going to ask that's what I was going to ask I have no idea I have no clue really who I think is going to win because you know I think if anybody gets hot at the right time they they can roll it you know and I think anybody that's coming that's been here two or three times uh you know Rusty maybe you know he's been here a lot shot really well shot the world so he's got experience here so if I had to just take a guess out of everybody that I know's coming um he would be my my pick if I had to because of the time he's spent here.
SPEAKER_04Yep.
SPEAKER_08And he's a hell of a shooter. And he's a hell of a shooter right yep yep yeah I you know I was thinking that too just looking at who's who's coming like Paul Dalen.
SPEAKER_09I mean he's he's damn near local honestly he's three three four hours up the road I think he's really used to this type of uh environment he's probably shot almost every year you hosted it too yeah uh yeah that's true yep uh Sean Haymore I mean he shoots with he shoots with Paul quite a bit he could he he could he could shoot well uh zinc Zane Kuhn could be good Chris Ketalik oh yeah yep yeah yeah I mean he got some studs and then you know like you said Rusty Ulmer uh Shane Ward's gonna be out there too um then any one of those picking Shane Ward yeah you picked you picked him last time he was he turned into a donkey he's gotta prove himself to me before he gets my pick again yeah that's that's that's a really good group you know I think any any one of them there you know is quite capable he's you know he's uh enough set on that you know without a doubt but yep uh yeah if I was just throwing a dart I'd say my gut would tell me Rusty because like I said I know he's shot everyone he's shot hunter matches here a lot of experience here you know yep exactly what's uh what's the wind temperature you know weather look outlook for this weekend so it you know it's interesting we're we got fingers crossed we're watching it it looks like uh you know 50 in the morning close to 70 in the afternoon maybe a chance of a little bit of light rain Saturday evening which is always okay keep the dust down I'm hopeful you know I think it was uh three years ago on Friday we had rain and snow and we got a bunch of big equipment stuck but uh the roads have been fortunately for us Walt has uh owned a lot of the roads that were not at that time so I think we're in good shape but the weather outlook looks great the wind looks not to be like a huge issue nothing like you know 20 30 mile an hour winds I think with the front coming in and you know a little bit of rain uh is a nice little wind indicator for you too you know it's not a bad thing to get a grasp on what's happening so I think it's gonna be good.
SPEAKER_08Yep. Man it's awesome. I just just seeing you there and in front of the mountains and stuff too bring back a lot of good memories. I wish I was available this weekend to come out there had a great time. Yeah sounds like it's shaping up to be an awesome match. So yeah I can do it next yeah everything's great. Next year you want to you want to go shoot it?
SPEAKER_02Well so interesting thing uh dad was just talking about camping out there he found some mountain he wants some trail he wants to conquer and he wants to go he's like I'd rather do it spring or fall so it's not blazing hot. Perfect time yeah so I'm like there's a really cool match out there a couple hours from there and so we all just go camping and then go hit the match.
SPEAKER_08I love that idea. Especially if it's spring break. And there's um there what is it right across the highway from you too there's a big like plateau or butte they call it right yeah Mesa Mesa.
SPEAKER_09Mesa up yeah yep I guess yeah it's really cool to go up there it is incredible. It's pretty cool. So and uh you know the other thing we do for the shooters if you remember is we run a you know an ice cream truck around uh free ice cream both days uh we try to cater to the shooters I think we might be the only one that does that but you know again yeah uh it's all about the shooters and um we're excited to have them and you know that that's the whole thing for us is the experience for them. Give them a great a great event a lot of fun and uh hit some targets in in a unique environment.
SPEAKER_08Yep. Yeah no it's awesome. If you know for anybody that's that's listening that uh I mean Cameo is one of the best places on the air to to to shoot a match um and this is this takes full advantage of of the uh landscape and the opportunity there and and the hospitality and Walt and his crew and what they do for you and all the it's second to none.
SPEAKER_09Yeah they're second to none and you're 10 minutes from the airport and and and and hotels and food it it really is it's unique because everything is so close. You know we we're we've all shot matches where we've got to drive two hours or an hour and a half and just because of what we do but this is you just kind of laugh at it it's it's unique as hell you know how close it really is to civilization so to speak.
SPEAKER_08So yep um and and one of my favorite restaurants um of all time honestly Beamer and I ate there a bunch if you go in the Palisade uh and and Doug maybe hopefully you've eaten there if you haven't it's Fidel's coccino bar it is I have not it is oh man I bet when we were out there for the world well we went when we were out there to shoot your match I think we went two nights in a row uh because we went there the first night and we're like this is really good food and we went back the second night but I I bet I've eaten there 15 times. Yeah maybe 10 times maybe 10 times something that's it's a fantastic it's excellent Mexican food. It's uh it's it's just done really well I mean beamer you're foodie how how would you describe it yeah it's awesome. Yeah they have uh they have uh one particular kind of uh taco there I'm trying to remember what it's called do you remember what it's called it's a waxicon yeah yeah that's it a waxicon yeah that's the street tacos like Doug you need to please do me a favor and and go to Fidel's cocina bar for dinner talking about kind of hitting somewhere different yeah we will love it I'll look for that ten minutes down the road like in Palisade Colorado is a beautiful beautiful town um where we stay we've got an Airbnb there and and uh so that'll be nice you know because we're we still got guys driving T-post right now and uh they're gonna be they're gonna be ready for the food truck for sure.
SPEAKER_09I'm gonna have to haul them in and get them fed so we can hit it tomorrow. Yep yep is uh is Eli out there helping you uh the local peach farmer he is not no it's just uh it's our crew right our uh it's just us on the ground and then uh all the extra you know peripheral stuff we've got the cameo crew help them with all that stuff so yeah it's just it's there's so much to do you know it's uh it's hard it's it's hard for four or five people to accomplish it all without being out here more than a week you know no joke no joke yeah it took us like 11 days to set up and and most of the heavy lifting like you said was done by a drone you know and that got it roughly in place we still had to run up there with a T post pounder and and yeah but yeah it was something what a great place man um maybe josh and I'll do some camping next year with this with his old man and uh and see you out there.
SPEAKER_08Um yeah hope to have you guys awesome wish you the best of the weekend man good luck getting your ass set up and uh be safe on the mound all right all right thank you guys so much enjoy talking to you thank you Doug Tommy Goodson welcome to the show buddy well I appreciate you guys having me on hello heck yeah heck yeah so Clinton House this weekend what a great place to shoot spent a little bit of time down there actually josh you've been there too to the Quentin House I went there with you one time AG AG shoot it but I was there yeah yeah it's a it's a cool place and uh you guys need to come back because they've done so many more uh they've done a lot of improvements since then they uh they never stopped this this match was on my list and it sold out in like how fast because it seemed like two days in I tried to sign up and I was full you should have called me I I know a guy I may I may have been able to get you in.
SPEAKER_00Still can yeah noted I think we try not to pull that card too often yeah I know you know um it did sell out really really quick and um I'm actually looking next year reformatting the way I run it to try to get more shooters in without big bigger squats. So just running more stages simultaneously.
SPEAKER_08So you got you got 121 coming um man I can I can tell you from the two years that I was there for the AG Cup and and got eyes on the property um man you could run you could run a pile of shooters there. Right and I think you could probably do 200 consecutive you know it obviously takes extra work you got to open things up and and make sure everybody's safe and fired in the right direction and all that but yeah I mean what a what a cool property.
SPEAKER_00Yeah and the way that the he's got it set up it's kind of like the um you know they do a lot of sporting plays there so they've got the blinders set up uh but not every uh prop has a blinder so there might be two so it gets a little confusing with the you know the calling of the impacts and the the the beeper so we're trying to put a little bit of separation in there but uh it's getting better and better every time heck yeah uh uh just Mike Sexton is the guy that that's kind of manages that right he is yeah he's uh he's not the property owner but he's kind of the property man at least for that side super good dude and he uh like you said he's eager to he's eager to make improvements wherever anybody asks for things and point something out right absolutely 100% that's awesome how um how many total acres is Clinton house do you know I think it's in the 90s or and they even leased some property next to them they're trying to buy it uh so it's probably over 100 150 and oh it's gotta be bigger than that yeah it it may be it may even be bigger than that yeah for for sure um it's it's massive it's got it is massive yeah they do all kinds because you I don't know if you saw the other side where they they they do can con there they do the gathering there um that's right they do tons of events there.
SPEAKER_08Yeah yeah it's massive I was gonna say it's it's probably a thousand acres you know it's I'll ask them I'll ask them and I'll I'll send you a couple yeah heck yeah heck yeah man um so I guess let's talk about the the match this weekend and um what it what do you kind of have set up for for props and you know and like what what kind of shooter style are you gonna you know kind of cater to maybe is it a fast running gun is this to take your time watch your shots like what what are you thinking?
SPEAKER_00So I I played with the idea of running 90 seconds to the pro series and 105 to the uh regional but as a shooter and as a match director I really really like the 105 um I as a shooter do never like to shoot and then have to abandon that bullet and flight and move because I'm trying to sprint to the next one. Right so uh I kept everything at 105. Uh I don't think there's anything that's really going to be a time issue on any of these. Um I'll tell you we usually have some tricky wind out there uh but looking ahead there's like zip there's really strong winds Monday Tuesday Wednesday nothing on Friday Saturday Sunday and then it picks back up on Monday. So I may have to go out and uh put some targets around and make them a just a little bit smaller. But uh we'll see. You know that they and they're constantly putting new props out there. So we've got uh some big uh like fallen trees that that we're gonna use he's got a deuce and a half out there now um trying to think what's there since the last time you were there um I don't know just every time I go out there there's there's something new and uh you know so we we use it and it it's all stable which I can appreciate yep for sure.
SPEAKER_08Yeah you can't go wrong with like four and five tenth targets you know almost exclusively you know like if you get a little wind yeah people will miss a few more but you know the the winner's probably not going to miss that much less but yeah yeah yeah you know I I I tried not to reinvent the wheel here and um you know there's and and I know the last few matches I've shot I kind of um I haven't been real happy with KYL so there are zero KYLs in this in this match.
SPEAKER_00Sure. So um there's a lot of big small near fares um we have a wide angle of fire so there's there's I I try to set everything up so if you shoot like a troop line in the morning you'll shoot the other one in the afternoon.
SPEAKER_08They mirror each other if one's a straight line the other one's a straight line uh so I got two of those day one and then day two the uh you'll see the white pants and they're evenly split so can you imagine beamer beamer a straight line troop line can you do is that possible to do anywhere like if you if you're in being straight I don't see what the are we talking about well yeah I I'll I'll be on uh Tommy I I love shooting troop lines that are near to far right away from you I I I love I love that type of thing. Uh beamer on the other hand likes shooting troop lines that start over there and end over there somewhere and cross an entire county.
SPEAKER_07Yeah so I use the ground that I have to my advantage.
SPEAKER_00Well there you go that's all you can do.
SPEAKER_08You sure do yeah we we typically have a headwind there so it's uh target one you have a left to right wind and target five you have a right to left wind and it just use what you have 100% um well let's uh yeah I'm gonna share my screen and I'll try to make it big enough where we can see um let's kind of walk through this if uh you guys given any thought to who might do well this weekend take it that's a no I got ten names written down waiting draft ten names written down so we didn't do this for maybe maybe we'll come back and we'll we'll do the same thing for um uh the uh Ruger Koenig Koenig match but um I'll let me make some notes here Tommy you wanna you want to get in on the snake draft sure but I won't go first you guys go first and I'll catch up all right um well let's just let's just kind of walk through the names here who we got Aaron Kincaid mass director pro shooter actually I twice twice I saw him shoot AG cup there. Let's keep going down here yeah Andrew Andrew Walder mass director at uh War Rifles uh this B Wilson we've seen finish well but um Ben Gossett he could do well here right um Brian Lewis uh just kind of uh focusing here on uh on the pro shooters David Preston he's been he's been around a while and he is a stud shooter uh he's also a golden bullet winner Derek Warren was on the on the show last week he won uh there at at frostbite Dylan Bailey good shooter Eric Cutcheon coming down from Maine Grace Vaughn Josh is always in favor of her to do well and Hunter Neal uh moving on down here those two must be neighbors because they shoot the same match all the time they do they do uh Jonathan Gurley you could he could he could do well uh hopefully I'm not missing Kale Harmon but he's really on fire's been on fire yep and we should also mention this is a qualifier uh so like if Kale gets this that's his qualifying match he's got 300 and a qualifier yeah Ken Sinowski Kendall Simpson Kendall's shoot attack though uh let's keep Levi Wilson could do uh really well here Mark Vasensky part of MKM Patty Markley uh you're skipping ahead here aren't you oh sorry well Steiner uh Steiner's shooting attack though as well uh Michael Look Mike Burns Mitten our production friend Patty Young's dang uh Ryan Beck Sam Gearing gonna be there Thomas Armistead hey you got a lot of good shooters coming to this match Tommy yeah there is I I know I've been looking at that list yeah you better go look at smaller yeah yeah yep yep for ten target you'll do all right here um all right who wants to go first beamer beamer you go first I got your name written down first here all right well I'll I'll go ahead and steal Kale Harmon I knew you're gonna take him okay Josh is this actually who we think is first or is it any order? Any order any order last week we yeah last week we just picked names we're gonna we're gonna snake draft probably go 4 deep I'm guessing um let's go with Ken Sinaski oh that's a good one okay I'm gonna go Sam Gearing Tommy you got a name I was literally texting Sam right now I believe his name is Derek Webster is he coming I didn't uh I thought you thought you called Derek Warren I think is Derek Warren yeah yeah Warren yep yep you you're gonna go with the guy on a heater yep okay uh time you get to pick again well I'll go with my buddy Ben Gossett Oh man I like your chances so far Tommy okay uh is it me uh nope it's it's back to me I'm sorry I'm gonna go Levi Wilson dang it yeah okay now it's I was looking forward to picking my fellow man of girth Josh Edgett who are you taking is it me or Michael nope it's back to Josh and then Beamer gets to pick twice um man let's go with the other Wilson B Wilson you're going B.
SPEAKER_02Wilson He could be the dark who it is still but uh he's been like top five top ten last year he's got two matches he's taking some trophies okay I'm gonna steal your favorite pick.
SPEAKER_07I I knew you were gonna take I'm gonna do it.
SPEAKER_08I'm gonna steal Keith Keith Rudisil and Dave Preston yeah Keith Rudisil congrats on your first win this year because I didn't get to pick you
SPEAKER_02Who's your second? Preston?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, Dave Preston. Okay, Josh? Uh, let's go with Ryan Beck. Oh man, that's also another good one. Okay, it's back to me. Oh man. I'm gonna go, I'm gonna pick Drew Walter. Okay, Tommy, you got another one? Yeah, I'm gonna go with uh Thomas Armistead. Armistead.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. He said well. Yeah. Yeah. Um we're gonna we're all gonna pick one more. Tommy you get you get to go one last time here.
SPEAKER_04We'll go to B. Wilson. No, he's taken. Uh Aaron Kincaid. That's yeah, that's a great pick. Okay. I um I gotta go through my list one more time.
SPEAKER_08I got I really wish Rudiso was still available.
SPEAKER_07Um and and I just got uninvited to next week. Exactly.
SPEAKER_08Especially if he wins. That's gonna bother me. You know what? Patty Young's is still on the table.
SPEAKER_07Shaking him. That was I was planning on that one myself. Yep.
SPEAKER_08Is it me or beamer? Josh, it's you.
SPEAKER_03Uh Eric Cutchen.
SPEAKER_08Oh yeah, our friend from Maine. Cutcheon, I think is the name. There's there's still a couple good ones. There's a there's a couple good picks left on the table, Beamer.
SPEAKER_02Honestly, the way the season has gone. If you just look at all the semi-pros and picked all them, you'd probably get like seven of the top ten.
SPEAKER_04You would. So Joseph Stanley in that mix, too. There you go. Yeah. Beamer? Oh, okay. Oh, it's up to you. You already picked for him?
SPEAKER_07Um I'll do uh there's not a whole lot of other names I know very well, so I'm gonna go with Brian Lewis. Brian Lewis, yeah. Mass Director. Got it.
SPEAKER_08All right. We'll see how that shakes out. Um so Tommy, you picked Derek Warren, Ben Gossett, Thomas Armistead, and Aaron Kincaid. Based on Warren and Gossett, I mean, those two guys are quick and very accurate shooters, I would I would put in that category. And I and I bet the Knight Force skill stage, which is you should you should have an actual scope for this one. Is it an attacker or is it uh an NXT? Yeah, no, but it's an attacker.
SPEAKER_00Yep.
SPEAKER_087 to 35. Here we go. 7 to 35 attacker. Here we go. Come on, big money. Um who do you think's gonna do that? What's I I wanna I wanna put this down.
SPEAKER_07What what uh what variation are you gonna run? Shall we?
SPEAKER_00What's the uh the the big small side by side?
SPEAKER_07Big small 400 yards. Yeah. 30 seconds.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. You know, that barricade out there is it's it's a little thin and it's uh it vibrates a little bit when you shoot on it. So I would add a few seconds to anybody's fast time.
SPEAKER_07No, I'm um I've been facetious.
SPEAKER_08We can um we can all pick you know just just pick a repeat. Yeah, we can repeat here. I'm gonna say Brutus still does it in 38 seconds.
SPEAKER_07Oh, we're doing time too?
SPEAKER_08Yep. Okay, okay, beamer, Josh.
SPEAKER_07Uh I'm gonna go I'll go Ben Gossett and 41. 41. Okay. Ben Gossett and 40. Oh, you son of a price has right at me. How dare you? One dollar, Bob.
SPEAKER_08Tommy, just say one second. Whoever it is.
SPEAKER_00I don't know who else is fast. I know that those are the two that I knew were fast. Uh, we'll go with Derek Warren. And I don't know if he's a fast skill stage sheet or not, but we'll go with it. You could do it. Uh how how fast does he do it in?
SPEAKER_08What do you think?
SPEAKER_00He's doing he he he'll do uh 39 seconds.
SPEAKER_0839 seconds. I love it. Cool. Um, it'll be fun to watch how this thing shakes out, man. It's gonna be on impact scoring. Check it out live live all weekend. Um, any anything else uh to mention about the match this weekend, Tommy?
SPEAKER_00No, uh we we got great weather. Um, like I said, next year uh we've got like 45 people on the wait list. So that tells me right there that there's yeah, uh I need to make I need to make more space out there without making 13, 14, 15 shooter spots. So uh I'm going to run 17 or 18 stages simultaneously. 20 would be tight, but I think next year we can run 17, 18, still be above the minimum, and it it won't be it won't be shoulder to shoulder. So cool. More good things coming.
SPEAKER_08That's awesome, man. Yeah, it's great to hear you sold out quick and wait lists and all that, man. You're doing something right. So congrats, dude. Have a great weekend.
SPEAKER_04Appreciate it, man.
SPEAKER_08Yep, thank you guys very much. Yep, take care. Thank you. Well, we are back, and we're gonna we're gonna probably talk some shit here for a second. Um, and then uh we're gonna make our picks for the canning match. Um now that uh we're we're done there with uh Quitting House. Just texted Doug. He asked, what's the name of that place again? So I just sent him directions in Google Maps and Apple Maps. He's an Apple guy, and um hopefully he's gonna go there and have uh what was this? It was a spicy margarita with the tahine on there.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, yeah, yeah. They think they had like a jalapeno margarita that was delicious.
SPEAKER_08That's what they did. Yeah. I and I've said that maybe yeah, I quit drinking last year in February. I don't know if I've that's public knowledge or not, whatever. And I quit basically because I'm old and like every time I drink I get freaking hung over and I just wasn't enjoying it anymore. Um but I could tell you right now, Beamer, if we were back at Ballisade, Colorado. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I got one you probably would like right here.
SPEAKER_08I I no, I can tell you what it is without you putting it in front of the camera. I could tell them it's an old mill NA. Oh yeah. Those are good.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, Megan bought them the other day, and I was like, I mean, I may bad. Where where did we have we had those together, didn't we?
SPEAKER_08Was that in uh Vegas at SHOT Show? It was at SHOT Show. Yeah, that's right. We went to that, it was like a barbecue restaurant, and and she's like, Yeah, the only NA's we have are old mill. And I'm like, Yeah, that's delicious. I'm not even yeah, people are probably cringing right now. Yeah. And again, yeah, I like it. I like it. Um, all right. Anyways, I think of the spicy margs or the jalapeno. That was so good. Those tacos, street tacos. Yeah. We shared a lot of food there too, didn't we? We did, yeah.
SPEAKER_07We ate eight ate tacos back and forth. We did like like Lady in the tramp. Oh, wait, are we are we recording? Oh crap.
SPEAKER_08Uh clip it. Clip it. Yeah. I don't even edit anymore, so somebody, somebody's gonna have to do that. Yeah. No, yeah. Um, so Doug and Keith, uh, Keith Baker. Um we reached out to them earlier today uh to get them set up, make sure that their classifications, everything are all squared away, like Megan does with almost all the pro matches, just to make sure no, you know, that first-time shooter doesn't come in and go like, oh yeah, of course I'm a pro shooter. I can do this. Uh so we set up classifications, make sure this is square. Um but uh yeah, they're not running impact scoring this weekend, which uh they don't have to. There's nobody forcing anybody to do anything or not do anything, but uh I'm gonna miss it.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, yeah. I they should run impact scoring.
SPEAKER_08They should. I mean it for everybody at home, right? Um, yeah, yeah, actually, and everybody there too. You know, if you if you really want to know how you're doing, it's kind of nice, right? Very nice, very nice. Um let's I'm just gonna sorry everybody here, but I'm gonna filter the list of shooters to pro and semi pro uh class. I know there's good marksman and amateur uh that that'll shoot. I'm not taking that away from anybody. Um let's just kind of focus in on either pro or semi-pro and and do a little snake draft here. Um you guys see that alright?
SPEAKER_07I got the list pulled up on my screen. I'd have to get my glasses out.
SPEAKER_08Oh, well, I can here, I'll make it a little bit bigger.
SPEAKER_03Somebody's old.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, he does have glasses. Okay. Um, and I'll I'm gonna highlight these as we take them off the table. Um any so pro shoot or semi-pro shooters in there. We got Jonathan Thornton, he's been shooting well. Needs weeds for uh clay. By the way, Clay is I haven't I haven't heard. Yeah, I mean he he could be in a hospital right now uh helping pull out a kid or whatever, but um haven't heard. I try not to bother him.
SPEAKER_07Well, I hope everything's going good. Sure it is.
SPEAKER_08Hopefully. Uh Brett Files, Terry Conaway, good shooter, semi-pro. Um we shot with him.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, we shot with him in Was it at this match? Uh at uh yeah, in 24. Yeah. Shot with him and uh Haymore and Rusty and Paul. Paul. The really fun squad. And then uh Terry came out and helped with the match too. Yep. The world's match.
SPEAKER_08So all right. Um Beamer, you go first this time. Oh, you were first. I'm sorry. Here. Edget. Yeah. You go first this time.
SPEAKER_03I like Zane Kuhn right there.
SPEAKER_08You like Zane. All right. Uh here's what we're gonna do. We're gonna uh take him off the table.
SPEAKER_04Okay. Beamer?
SPEAKER_07My turn.
SPEAKER_08Your turn.
SPEAKER_07Well wait, do I get a do I get a do I get a steal rusty since let Doug pick Rusty? But he's not here anymore. So I think I get Doug's not here.
SPEAKER_08Doug's not here.
SPEAKER_07We can share. I'll share Rusty with Doug. That's fine.
SPEAKER_08Um I was really hoping to take him.
SPEAKER_07Um I know you were, that's why.
SPEAKER_08I I'm gonna go twice, okay? Snake draft. I'm gonna do Paul Dallin, and I'm doing Sean Haymar. Which I feel pretty good about. That's pretty good. Pretty good. Back to you, Beamer.
SPEAKER_07Back to me. Oh gosh. Um Steve Eames. Is that size? Is he pronounced Amos?
SPEAKER_08Uh I'm pretty sure.
SPEAKER_07Uh Steve's welcome to come on here and and correct us, but um Well, when he comes away with the win next week, we'll have him on and he'll clarify.
SPEAKER_08I love it. Okay. Back to you, Josh, for two picks. Uh Shane Ward. What? Oh, he is there. Yep. And Chris Katalik. Oh, Chris. God dang it. A couple Texans.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Uh Dark Horse, Shane Ward, or Dark Donkey, Shane Ward. He's a donkey, either way, but he got his truck fixed.
SPEAKER_02He'll be all right. Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_08Everybody everybody heard about this, right?
SPEAKER_02Where he's put a dumb donkey right there.
SPEAKER_08You put death in the diesel tank, right? Yeah.
SPEAKER_03That doesn't go there.
SPEAKER_08No.
SPEAKER_07And it's conf and it is confusing. Um, who was that? Somebody just put out a video. John Coker.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, John Coker.
SPEAKER_02It's confusing, I guess. Diesel exists. The diesel nozzle doesn't even fit in the def uh hole. Well, I think you put the def in the def nozzle in the diesel hole. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Well, that definitely fit.
SPEAKER_07He put well with the out in the in hole. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Oh my goodness. Uh Beaver, you're gonna pick another one here, bud.
SPEAKER_07Oh boy. Um let's see who we got left. Who we got left? Sean's gone. Paul's gone. Uh Laurel. Are you taking a Laurel? Yeah, sure. Why not? I don't.
SPEAKER_03She's a great shooter.
SPEAKER_08She is a good shooter. Very good shooter for uh for Ruger. I'll mark it off here. Okay, uh I'll pick two and then we'll make this our last. So we're each taking four. Um I'm gonna take Moritz, my German buddy.
SPEAKER_04Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, I believe he just finished uh 10th at Snake River.
SPEAKER_08Yep, he did not do so hot at uh Box Canyon, though, I don't think.
SPEAKER_07But that's yeah, that's I was talking about that. He got the rub. He got the rub from Box Canyon and then went and shot another match, did better. Yep, you're right.
SPEAKER_08Um you know what?
SPEAKER_04I'm gonna take Terry Connaway as my as my last pick. Okay. Josh? Uh Chris.
SPEAKER_08Oh, it's Beamer, though. Yeah. Wait, what did what did he what did he need to say? Nothing.
SPEAKER_07It was Chris. Where's another Chris? I'm stealing it. Uh Dwight Tot Dwight Toth's pretty good, isn't he?
SPEAKER_08He is, yeah. I mean, uh every everybody on this list is a is a solid shooter. He's solid options for your fourth. I mean, we're at this point we're picking uh what, 12th through 16th. Well, like and anybody here is a 12, yeah, I mean, could easily fall into that.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Uh well, why not? I called him out, so we'll go with that.
SPEAKER_08And then your Chris Moore is your last and final, Josh. Yeah, yep. Sounds good. Cool. We'll see, we'll see how that shakes out. This well, we'll hopefully they post a practice score Saturday night, maybe. You know? Upload them. I mean, you have cell phone reception on the mountain. There was there was Doug. We saw him, we saw him cell phoning things. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07We did.
SPEAKER_08We did.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. Anything else we want to wrap up tonight?
SPEAKER_07I believe Josh wanted to share a story. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. You was going to tell us all about his 25 load.
SPEAKER_07No. Right?
SPEAKER_08I got nothing. No. What what twist rate do you run at least? 7.25. 7.5. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I used to run seven and a quarter all the time, but uh it just was easier to order with Jeff uh seven and a half, and also everyone else who find one in stock is seven and a half. So and they and they work just fine.
SPEAKER_08So yeah, I mean, but you're talking a very, very minute difference there, you know? Mm-hmm. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07He's lying. It's a left-hand game twist with a little pinch right at the end of the day. Just give it a little kiss on its way out. How did you know?
SPEAKER_02I used to do all that bogus stuff. Left hand game twist, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Oh man. Tried it. Done there.
SPEAKER_08I I think it was Alan Jawarski that I shot with one time. I think it was Alan. Um, sorry if I mean Alan's a very, very smart guy. I think he's like a nuclear uh material scientist or something along those lines. Maybe he's watching. He can you can correct me. But I think it was him that had a left-hand twist barrel, and we're at MKM or something like that. And I'm like, man, I I feel like you just made it way harder on yourself shooting a left hand because there's everybody that you know is talking one set of data, and then there's you.
SPEAKER_02Well, you're screwing everybody because I have the same exact experience. I was shooting a left hand and it was MKM. We had a left to right wind, and everybody with a right twist was like four to five tenths. And all weekend, I was like either straight up or a tenth. And nobody could figure it out. And then halfway through day two, I was like, oh, by the way, I'm shooting a left-hand twist. They're like, this is making sense. That's funny.
SPEAKER_07Yep. Yep. I just had another I had another idea, another what another pick. Another pick. Uh yeah, what cartridge wins uh Clinton House? What cartridge wins kind of Gruger.
SPEAKER_02Uh well, my pick was Zane, right? And he's probably gonna shoot a 25. Yeah, pretty sure he shoots 25 GT.
SPEAKER_04And GT or Dash are probably at uh Clinton House. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08So we think we think it's a 25 that's gonna win.
SPEAKER_0725. I was gonna wait I already forgot who my first pick was.
SPEAKER_08Uh Rusty. Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Uh gosh.
SPEAKER_08I think Rusty's like a traditional six guy. I could see him being a six-five guy too, though. I I don't know.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. I was kind of thinking six five.
SPEAKER_08You want me to text it?
SPEAKER_07Creed. No, that's okay. That'll take too long. We don't want to slow our momentum.
SPEAKER_08Um I'm sharing my screen here.
SPEAKER_04So at Cannon Gruger, uh, Kartridge Josh, Beamer. Uh I should probably put edge.
SPEAKER_02Actually, like three of my four picks probably all shoot 25. Does Shane shoot a 25?
SPEAKER_08I'm not sure. I think he's a 65.
SPEAKER_07He's shooting Dasher. Yeah, I'm pretty sure he's shooting Dasher.
SPEAKER_08Ketalik is a 25-47, I think.
SPEAKER_04Chris Moore, I don't, I'm not sure. I'm not either. I'm saying Dasher. Um I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go 6'5 Creed. Oh, why is mine so specific?
SPEAKER_02You gotta specify kinda. It could be a 25 dasher. Or 22 dasher.
SPEAKER_0825-ish. Yes.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, yeah, well we could just we could back it off to just caliber instead of cartridge.
SPEAKER_04But sure. Okay.
SPEAKER_08I'm going Dasher.
SPEAKER_07Well, I'm gonna ride with uh with Kale and say six GT.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03What were my picks there?
SPEAKER_07Sonofsky, Ryan Wilson, Dasher, I think Sonofsky's running Dasher. Dasher Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Well, back shoot doesn't back shoot a sixth greed?
SPEAKER_04Yeah. I could see Beck doing it.
SPEAKER_03It might we don't have to change this today, but it might be easier just to say caliber instead of cartridge.
SPEAKER_07Cartridge is what came out of my stupid mouth first, so uh yeah, just go Dasher.
SPEAKER_08You're going Dasher?
SPEAKER_03It's implied.
SPEAKER_08It's implied. I would not be surprised Ryan back wins of the sixth creed. Anywho. Oh, hopefully save that document. And uh we can reference it next week and episode 11 of the Show. Man, does it feel like well for Beamer? It doesn't feel like it, but Josh, I mean, you've been on almost all of these, right? Like been doing this 11 weeks now. I mean, we're like 25 hours deep into recording.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Feels it. It's a good time. It is.
SPEAKER_08Beamer, we're glad to have you. It's fun. You need to give Josh more harassment during the show.
SPEAKER_07But uh I'll try harder next week. We need to fit it in at the beginning before we get into the guests because we don't want to interrupt, you know what I mean? But all good. All good. Awesome. We'll try.
SPEAKER_02Well, I just appreciate you guys you guys know Beamer told us he's not wearing pants, so get that image. That's why I'm having such a good time.
SPEAKER_08But he didn't poop whatever he has for uh below waist. Uh we'll just leave it at that. All right. Cool. Appreciate you guys. You guys have a good week. We'll talk soon.
SPEAKER_04Yep. We'll see you. See ya. Thanks.
