SPEAKER_04

All right, boys. We're back. Episode 11. Tuesday night for us. Uh, you guys are probably watching this on a Thursday or Friday. Um, man, then we got nothing else going on. So here we are. Uh I say that a little tongue-in-cheek because it seems like every Tuesday night it's like freaking crazy town, you know, and like here we are. We sit down for a couple hours and record this for y'all. Um, don't be surprised at some point tonight. This is the only room in the house in our basement that's surrounded on three walls of concrete. And we got some really severe crap coming through. We were down here last night at one o'clock in the morning, woke the kids up, dragged them into the Oh boy. Yeah. It was fun. Yeah. And actually, it was kind of fun. I mean, I have a TV in here, so we had the news on or whatever, and uh, meteorologist getting all psyched up. I mean, like you can tell that he doesn't want anything bad to happen, but he can't wait for something bad to happen because this is the shit he lives for, you know.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that's how you know you you're not from uh Kansas or Oklahoma because we're all outside when it's going down like that.

SPEAKER_04

So uh well, I was in bed, honestly. And then actually it was our phones that woke us up. We have a weather radio too, and the phones and the rather weather radio all went off at the same time. It's like, whoa, what is happening? And it's like that's a tornado warning, we should go downstairs. I'll say this. So, Missy being from central Illinois, and they have tons of severe weather down that way, right, Josh? Uh every year. Um Missy was the same way. Like you didn't really take this stuff shit seriously, you know? And then in 2013, 90% of the neighborhood she grew up in got swept away in a tornado, and her parents' house is like right down to the foundation. And it's like, that's what a tornado will do. Yeah. Um, so yeah, I mean, now she's scared shitless. So anytime a warning goes off, like she's grabbing shoes and her wallet and you know, stuff that she'll need when the house is gone.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Speaking of which, I just noticed on on the bottom left corner of my screen it says tornado watching effect. So I guess if I go off air all of a sudden, then you'll know something happened because I don't have a basement.

SPEAKER_04

Uh see? Yep. You're we're in my basement. Josh, you got it. It's coming.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

You're gonna have it.

SPEAKER_05

I got the blinds open, so I can kind of see it coming from a distance because uh unlikely to hear that tornado siren from here. So yeah, you're ways out.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Yeah. Megan was up here today. We did some photo shoot stuff. Um product photo shoot, not get your head out of the gutter, guys.

SPEAKER_03

Um I didn't think you were in your underwear.

SPEAKER_04

No, no, not so much. Um, so we had Steve Lee's here, Tacahawks, and we're doing some photo shoot stuff, but Megan left and actually drove kind of around the storm. It just happened to work out perfect uh on our on our way home. I think I just heard lightning. Anyways, or thunder. Um, one of the things I wanted to point out that we did for the photo shoot, um, and this is this is a rifle system that I've been wanting to build for a while and uh been accumulating some parts. And um did two of these because I've had this sort of idea of William and I running around the woods. Um, I don't know if you could see that. This is the 22. Um, it's in a new LSS Gen 3 ACC uh folder, obviously. Um doesn't weigh that much, it's got a Shaw barrel on here. You can order these 1022 barrels right from them. I think this was, I mean, it's a stainless, fluted, threaded muzzle. I want to say it was 200 bucks. Like it's it's it's crazy. Um Tex Venom, first focal point scope on here. It's got a Kid uh 22 or 1022 receiver. Um, I really wanted to just build this on a Ruger 1022, and then kid came on board as a uh partner of ours and like, hey, hey, I've had this idea, and I'm like, absolutely, you know. Um but man, uh, we took this outside once we got it together. It's got a kid trigger in there, too. Uh, does it cycle awesome? Um and super fast. That's kind of what I was going for. So like I kind of had this uh illusions of grandeur that William and I are gonna go up to the state land that's not too far from here and shoot squirrels and raccoons and whatever whatever's moving out there just as fast as we can, you know, with 30-round drum mags or something like that attached to them. Sounds like a good time. Dude, yeah, and the second I got a full parts kit to build another one. Um William and I'll probably do that this weekend, I think. So yeah. Josh, you got a match coming up this weekend? Yep. You do give us some details on it.

SPEAKER_05

Um yeah, I mean, they're calling for Kansas type wind. Uh 20 to 30 mile an hour, gust up to 40. So I think it it might hurt people's feelings. But uh my range, it you know, we can pan a good amount, so that tailwind, you're probably gonna be a mil left to a mil right on the same stage. So it should be pretty sporty. But yeah, it's uh it's a qual qualifier, northwest Illinois.

SPEAKER_04

Um kind of dancing around it. It's presented by Forrester and Josh Edge. Yeah, right? Yep. Yep, all of a shout out there. They have a great I've shot there one time. Um I wish I wish I could come down this weekend, but we got baseball. Really cool property. I mean, it's uh I mean it feels like Kansas, it's a cattle ranch, right? Yeah, it's a cattle.

SPEAKER_05

It's like actually I think he has about 180 acres, but what we shoot on is probably a hundred. Um, but just uh you know, big rolling hills. It it doesn't feel like Illinois. Usually you drive through Illinois and it's just flat cornfields, but this is like that northwest corner where the the river at Mississippi is close and you get into some hilly country and it's just a cow big cow pasture with big rolling hill and it you're shooting into a big valley. So you get quite a bit of panning and terrain features and things like that. So it's it's a really awesome place. Definitely happy to happy to be able to host a match there.

SPEAKER_03

Heck yeah. Yeah, I've got uh I'm gonna try to shoot a club match on Saturday. I signed up for one anyway. Uh one of our new ranges here in in Kansas, uh, the rifle ranch in uh Maxville, South of in there, regional qualifier. Nice. So I haven't got a chance to go shoot the range yet, but uh I am looking forward to it. It should be fun. Heck yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Heck yeah. I'll be doing baseball practice. It's our last practice. Monday's our first game. We've practiced zero times outside. We have like a facility which is like low ceiling and a strip mall where we have cages and we can pitch, we can we can do some drills, a bunch of hitting, but um I'm I these are 10 and 12 year olds. And uh I mean there's baseball IQ, and there's things that you you need to be on a field to coach, you know, like all right, there's a runner on first, you know, the ball's hit here. Where are you going with it? And like I'm like pretty concerned. But the I was texting with the coach that we're playing against Monday night, and he's like, Yeah, our fields have been soaked, we haven't been out yet either. So we'll see. It's probably gonna be uh it's gonna be a shit show of a baseball game next Monday night. Bunch of kids that don't know what the hell they're doing, but yeah.

SPEAKER_05

We could potentially run a two-day there. Um the biggest kicker would be there's actually a single phase power line that runs through the middle of that property. And the way I want to shoot, if we were to do a two-day, so you shot from the west side essentially top of the hill. Yeah. Um that far east fence line. Basically, I'd run the 10 stages shooting east one day, and then flip it around, and you actually would shoot west day two. And I have 10 stages up on top of that hill, like basically where you're shooting into. Um you get two different, totally different looks, but the issue is that single phase power line that runs through there, if you were to shoot from west to east, like that, or I'm sorry, east to west, is where the bullets are coming down is a lot of where your five, six, seven hundred yards would be. And and I'd hate to cut a a power line out there. So if we could get the power company to run that underground, because it literally feeds like one well pump back there. That's what's uh it's not it's not like it's there's houses on it. Like cut it at the road and feed it somewhere, some other direction. But you know how that is with the power company, that's a fifty thousand dollar job all day, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Yep. Uh yeah, it's a bummer.

SPEAKER_04

Um, you know, what do you where uh you could be able to park 150 folks there?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Right? Kind of up on the hill or whatever. Yeah, that'd be sweet. And it's not far from things. There's a great town or a barbecue place in town right there. I think it's great barbecue beamer. You probably think it's uh I don't even know what you're talking about. Oh, yeah. There's levels of good. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Where we had the uh peanut butter and jelly hamburger?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that's good. That's not barbecue. I was thinking something else. Yeah. Um, all right. So the debate we had today, Josh and I, because uh uh Megan was up here, and um obviously impact scoring is kind of new to everybody, newish uh for the most part. But Megan says, uh Josh is running impact scoring this week, and I'm like, heck yeah, like I'll I'll be tuned in. Like I know there's a lot of shooters there, and she's like, well, not gonna be live, it'll probably be offline. And I'm like, what? Are you kidding me? I'm like, there's cell signal there, right? And you need I have not verified this. Bill tells me you need like one bar, you know? Yeah, because it's just sending ones and zeros. So like you're not downloading pictures or watching movies or something like that, but so you need very little signal. And then Megan tells me that you guys just invested in a bunch of iPads or uh tablets, right? Off least tablets or something like that. I'm like, no, don't. No, no, no. Like I and I so be hold on to hold on, Beamer. Uh I was having this exact conversation last Friday with Doug Koenig and um Keith Baker, and they had a guy named Bob Young on, who Bob is a USPSA guy that has ran practice score forever. Like he is, he is he he's probably got more matches than most PRS directors combined, right? And um I had gone through, I'd I had loaded the roster for him, put all the info in there, copied it off the PRS website. You know, basically I built out most of the match, and I then I requested from Keith and Doug, I said, hey, just send me over the course of fire. I can I'll be able to build it out quick, just from the computer, not on the phone, all that. And of course they kind of boom me off. And then we had this meeting with them, and we went in there, and the course of fire is all completed. This is Bob Young, USPSA guy, was like, guys, this software is awesome. Like, this was so easy to do. It's like, I am totally in you guys rot, you know, like and and Bill's there, Bill Tinkup, the you know, the developer. And and I mean, this pistol guy is just like blown away by it, and like, all right, how are we gonna do this? And like, you know, and they had they had some questions, and one of one of the big questions they had was we're gonna run tablets because um all the ROs there uh are like our friend. Um, you remember him, Beamer, the guy that uh showed us around uh cameo. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Mike.

SPEAKER_04

Mike, who probably has a lifetime NRA membership, no offense to anybody out there, but um, he's that kind of guy.

SPEAKER_03

And so a stone kill stone cold killer kind of a guy, too.

SPEAKER_04

Well, yeah, yeah, yeah. So um, anyways, we get in the conversation, they're like, yeah, most of our ROs, these old guys probably don't have smartphones. Um, you know, and they're using static ROs. He's like a lot of them probably have flip phones. It's like, okay, well, if you're gonna run tablets, there's a couple things you gotta be concerned with. And one of the things I didn't I didn't mention to you, Josh, um, and this is sort of a PSA for everybody that's running Impact, especially in this scenario where you might have you might be logged in on another device. Um, if you're gonna run tablets, somebody somebody has to log into all those tablets. Okay. So, Josh, in this instance, you're gonna you'll go in, put your email in there. Uh, it's gonna say, cool, essentially, you know, if it's connected to the internet, it's gonna say, hey, you gotta go over to your email and just confirm, right? So you open your email, hit the confirm button, go back, yep, you're in. Josh Edget's logged into that tablet. Then you go to the next tablet. Now Josh Edget's logged into that tablet. Next tablet, logged in, right? So then now all the ROs and the score logs and all that, which the score logs are available for any match director to see, every entry is gonna say Josh Edget was the RO, the shooter was this, the stage is this, this is the impact, and go through that rigmarole, whatever, and then it'll have like a you know, RO shooter, stage complete, and then the next shooter, right? And anyway, so talking with with Doug and the guys, and it's like, well, but you kind of want live scoring, but you have these tablets, so you're gonna and they're like, Well, we got a Starlink. Like, okay. But the firing line at Cameo or the way they use it's four miles long. They're like, Well, we'll just drive around, have them connect. Like, okay, that's pretty good. Like, it you know, i if you can't go full live because you don't have it on a cellular device, that's probably the next best thing. And if you guys paid attention, the scores were a little weird coming from from the Ruger Keynek match, you know, some guys had five stages complete while the others had eight, whatever. But um, anyways, the um one caveat there, and yeah, this is really the only time you can lose scores. If somebody has has a tablet they've been scoring all day, and it does not get synced up, and for some reason they hit log out. If you log out of that, it's gone. Everything they just did is gone, right? Um, and that that could be on a phone too. Like if you're scoring, you know, if I was an RO for a match and I'm logging on my phone and for some reason I have my cellular turned off, if I hit log out, it's gone. So keep that in mind. Now the the logout procedure is a little bit buried, like it's not simple and easy just to log out.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I I had a a funny uh interaction just uh just uh maybe that was this morning because of that. I had one of my ROs for Cole Canyon that registered to RO for Cole Canyon as me because I was still logged in on his phone because I had set it up for uh RO scoring. Yep. I was like, what the hell did you and I look at my profile on impact scoring and it's and it says his name? I'm like, what? No joke. He went in and edited my profile because it was logged in on his phone. It's like Greg. Please find out. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yep. Yep. So so Josh, you guys just bought some tablets. What's the what's the scenario that you're in for this this weekend?

SPEAKER_02

I mean, you you called me saying just make no tablets.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Yeah. You said some other thing, but yeah. Um Return to tablets. But my feeling is I don't want to force any of my shooters to have to use their personal device, especially myself included. Like I'm pretty much glued to my phone. I run my ballistics off my phone. Um, the wind's wind's changing or whatever, like I'm updating stuff 90% by my phone. So to ask someone else to basically give up their phone, and I mean not everybody's running on off their phone, but I just figured when you have weather conditions, if it's raining, I'm not gonna force somebody to have their personal phone out in the rain and destroy their phone. Like I'd rather my hundred dollar tablet get ruined than someone's phone.

SPEAKER_04

You're running RO option number two, so you're gonna have you know squad bombs, basically, is what we call them, right?

SPEAKER_05

So yeah, no one's dedicated. Um basically when we do the match brief, it's like hey, pick one or two experienced guys and help them out. Everybody everybody takes takes a little responsibility and and running the tablet at some point to help everybody out. It's like either either you guys all help a little bit or or no one gets points with your choice. So um yeah. Yep. And usually you have one or two guys that that do step up and pretty much just handle it.

SPEAKER_03

So this is this is the way I've been doing it for my club matches, and it works flawlessly. I have not had a single issue. I make every single shooter an RO so that anybody's phone with impact scoring can keep score in their squad. So they can they they'll lock they they can only they can only keep score in their squad, but but every shooter can keep score. And that way you never have to rely on one or two guys that you that you know that is the scorekeepers, and you know, those guys are gonna step up and make sure that the squad is running efficiently anyway. But then when it when it's their turn to shoot or they're a couple turns uh away from shooting, they just hand off the responsibility keeping score to one of the other dudes in the in the squad. And it's just a short um you know matter of hey making sure that somebody's keeping score at all times. And it works really good for me doing it that way.

SPEAKER_05

Everything looks like an edit by by Josh. Well, why couldn't you just select like two guys in that squad to be logged into that tablet, and then the tablet just moves with the squad.

SPEAKER_04

Then it's who whoever has that tablet is and not instead of Josh, it's now Rick Kutcher, you know?

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_03

Um and if you wanted to, you could still set up the tablet for live scoring, but you have to use someone's personal hotspot to Which I'm fine with running my my hotspot. Yeah, but you can't be everywhere at once. Your hotspot's only gonna travel 10, 20 yards, maybe. Yeah. Um I want to. I was being stubborn about this too, when it came to switching from practice score to impact scoring and and being so used to using tablets, but the tablets are all junk. Like they all suck, unless you're buying brand new tablets, which is completely unreasonable uh financially. Uh but your cell phones work so much better. Like, and if it's raining, give everybody Ziploc baggies, because then their phone still works inside of a Ziploc bag and it's protected. Same thing with your shot timers, you know. But uh yeah, tablets suck. I'm so glad I don't have to mess with tablets anymore.

SPEAKER_04

I so and this is this is something I I I said when I was on the phone with Doug and and Keith that you know, like 10 years ago, which you know, 2000 April of 2016, I bet most of the matches were still paper and pen. You know, you had a clipboard with scores on it, handwritten, right? And then um I mean actually April 20th, 2016 was the first match that I shot, uh, which is this week, you know, 10 years ago. And that was all on paper, and it was raining out. You know, it was just a mess. But I think I think at that point, right, like it was almost unheard of, like, oh wait, we could do this on iPads, you know, and that's probably around the time practice who knows, practice score could have been out for a while at that point. But like that was a leap, right? Going from paper and pencil. In fact, like um uh uh not gunline um South Carolina, North Carolina, uh oh man gunsight. No, oh man, I it's beyond me. Anyways, they used to host some pro series matches, but they had paper and then they had a secretary basically, you know, hand jamming scores in, right? Um but anyways, like the point I'm getting to is I think in five years from now, it's gonna be like like we're gonna look back at ourselves at this point in time and go, can you believe we used to make match directors buy hundred dollar tablets you know and they'd buy 20 of them. Like I, you know, I and Josh, I think you you I you know we we had all iPads because I I I'm an Apple guy and I wanted to be able to like quick sync and all that and I thought there'd be benefits with the iPads. Um and and I handed all my iPads down to Rick Cutcher at WPRC and then he handed them all down to you and you're finally replacing those things and they're they're probably 12 years old 13 years old at this point. But like the thought of like maintaining those and then when they're out of date which is the issue that you're probably overcoming right like those things are junk because it can't even update it's like that thought is crazy to me.

SPEAKER_05

You know like they they will still run an auto trickler though.

SPEAKER_04

That's what I'm using one of them for that's a great idea because you could have it dedicated to an auto auto trickler. That's what you just have it plugged in.

SPEAKER_03

That's it sounds like you got enough tablets you could dedicate 10 auto tricklers. Yeah probably have something to use them for. That's a good idea.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah I hate pulling my phone up to do that.

SPEAKER_04

A really big calculator one of the two that it can be but I I do think I you know it I think we'll look back and and be like I can't believe we used to buy tablets to do this you know um but we're in a transition and there's going to be these different thoughts and I guess um here's a call to action for anybody watching or listening right now drop a comment on YouTube or uh I think they're going up on Spotify and everywhere now drop a comment like how cool are you with using your phone to score? Right? I get where Josh is coming from. I'm like the complete opposite of that right like I put my phone either it stays in my pocket the whole match or it's in my match bag right my my upranger because I don't want like I just don't want to deal with it. It's on do not disturb I don't want people calling me whatever but that's because I use a Kestrel or an ace right for all of my my my dope and you know I just don't I don't know I don't want it maybe it's fear because the old phones used to like the battery would die like in five hours if you used them and I'm like I don't want to be like 90% through this match and my freaking phone dies.

SPEAKER_05

You know like I I need I need a Kestrel that you know lasts for weeks you know but you don't well it's funny it was uh I I messaged a few trusted folks that are coming to my match and one response was oh yeah I think phones would be totally fine. The next response was if I if if I know I have to use my phone at a match to keep scores like I'm not shooting that match. Yeah. That sounds like a pre- Madonna No but if all your ballistics are on it and you're if that thing goes dead and that's your main source of like you're kind of hosed.

SPEAKER_04

Which is why I don't use that. That's why I use a dedicated device for that same reason.

SPEAKER_03

I you know I I'll keep score on I use my phone for my ballistics with Ford off and keep score on impact and it'll easily make it through a a clip match on on Battery Life. Now I that's that's an Android I don't know if an iPhone would I knew that's going to say all that green text probably takes less battery is what it is. Yeah but the the feedback that I've got from my my shooters and ROs on impact and using their personal devices is they prefer it. So honest like uh opinion or you know is this possible uh being the first match I'm gonna run with impact could I set up the tablets and have them on standby but then at the match brief like ask the question and if if it is hey yeah let's use our phones can I at that moment still change everybody to be an RO so that whoever has the app can can still do that or does that need to be planned ahead of time it doesn't it doesn't take long you do have to manually uh you have to go to each you have to go to in each individual individual individual shoe and as long as I am cell service I could do that in like five minutes right I mean it wouldn't be yeah it won't take that long 65 yeah yeah yeah I've I've sho I've shown up at uh a club match and forgot to build the stages or set up as anyone anyone for or an RO for one of my club matches at SCC. It's like give me like 10 minutes guys. Yeah set this up be so beats you would you would uh well I I I've got to that was one of my complaints with impact scoring is that I used to build my practice score matches while I was driving down the highway on the way to the range but I've got I've got it I've got impact figured out good enough that I can still I've got that that skill back and available so it's I still manage it.

SPEAKER_04

One of the one of the things when we were walking through with Doug and Keith for the Koenig match um that I thought was interesting like for static ROs you can literally say hey Josh is one of my ROs he's not shooting this weekend he's gonna be static on stage eight and you can you can tell them you can you can filter that out and say all right yep josh has access to stage eight right and that's it.

SPEAKER_03

You could also uh so there's that option where you have somebody static you can dedicate them to a certain stage you can dedicate somebody to a squad yep as well so then um you know like you know if Josh is in squad five you know and you want him to be able to do everybody in squad five you have that option like it's it's set up pretty smart you know yeah but Michael you did say you could choose like everybody so that yeah I I that's the way I found works the best for me is I just set up where every single shooter of the match can can be an RO and you know this is for club matches and uh where I don't have dedicated ROs it's all self you know squad mom deal. Um and um I just set it up to where every shooter can keep score and then whenever you need to hand off the responsibility to score just someone else pulls their phone out and and keep score and you've got you know usually like an eight man squad that's eight devices in every squad that can keep score and I I never have an issue doing that.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah I I think that scenario would work at least up here in Wisconsin right like I um we like like Josh said like you you just you have guys that you know that are gonna help out and like jump jump in and just just go for it right so I think that would work. I think that would work but I hadn't thought of that. I'm gonna share my screen here real quick.

SPEAKER_03

This is uh Ken and Gruger uh logs so this is the actual log behind the scenes so for shooters out there that um it probably haven't seen this because they haven't hosted a match um by the way anybody I think could start a test match um you could go through and do a test match and I think you can probably log scores and stuff like that so on your side you could you could play around with this um Bob Young is the guy um is a gentleman who was really good with the practice score and USPSA and all that so he has signed in on every tablet and so any score log so like Bob Young uh it says he's the RO Zach Meekham uh is a shooter stage one rabbit season um stage points you got a point there at 951 p.m that's interesting that must have something to do with the the tablet probably tablet or the sync time maybe I don't know um but then you got another impact sometimes they do run a little late at the cameo match um sorry Doug and Keith oh you know what no look at this it's time change so if somebody but you can see everything in here so it went from zero to eight to eighty nine to eighty nine point six to eighty nine to eight back to zero so this this is this is basically every tap of the iPad uh the tablet somebody 816 seconds no it's 81 it's 81.6 so like yeah so you can see every everything that this yeah 81 81.4 1 12 yeah who somebody was a little bit confused here I think this stage one maybe it was the first shooter on that stage but you can see and it's all timestamps so 9537 95402 95403 95409 like you have an exact timestamp of everything but the problem is it's all Bob Young so like we can't even make fun of like whoever this RO was and be like you don't know how to enter the time buddy you know yeah but yeah so a lot of information there on the backside um it's better information if you know you have dedicated ROs and logged in on your own shit all that but um with that let's talk about some results and then we'll get into um we'll get into our picks so Chris Katalik taking this one um which Josh I was uh actually your third pick um was catalik in our snake draft um I guess a couple notables here I mean we we knew Chris would be up there Haymore would be up there Elmer Nelson Drawitt from Canada as a marksman dude this dude took home some trophies you got top marksman obviously right um you got a fourth place let's come back here we go Chris the winner Sean Rusty Nelson oh I I know even his top middle LE too yeah Jason Alwis yeah yep Rusty was top senior we had two seniors in top five because uh Jason is too senior he is yeah I think he's 55 yeah on the nose uh Valentina top lady yeah Travis Cullen is top junior Nelson again for for top mill and top international was Moritz suppressor Ryland Creed he I think he shot really well too I think um he was in top ten for sure uh laurel top production and Anthony was uh top sportsman oh and Kevin Eedsweed top tack and semi pro is Jason Marksman Nelson again with his third or fourth trophy of the match cool trophies too and Samuel Gilman uh skill stage Zach Meekham um yeah we don't uh we didn't pick skill stage here but we did pick it for um all right um let's bring up let me let me share our picks here I wanted speaking of uh cool trophies yeah uh Derek Davidson texts me have you seen have you seen these the Bull Essential trophies yeah can you yeah yeah sorry not a bull central this is uh Northern lights I don't know that might look like crap showing on my phone but uh yeah this thing's he's got belts and he's got metals like giant like metal metal chains for the bullets central uh I like that Northern Lights classic he he sent these to me I was like dude that is incredible he they do they're pretty creative up there's cool all the belts oh yeah on a pure S barricade yeah he he was saying that uh registration's going a little slow for him so uh wanted to shout him out and give uh give him some love get some people signed up for that match because he's he does a really good job and those are some really cool trophies that that is people uh are gonna get a chance to uh take home heck yeah uh some more picks um man you guys you guys both picked dudes that did show up so I don't but you still destroyed me as yeah as one would expect sure sure katalic and you got katalic that was your third pick um your best pick beamer was your first one haymore second um yeah cartridge uh and uh we'll bring uh we'll bring Chris on here momentarily but I believe he was shooting a 2547 so Josh you got you got that there we go yep yep no i'm I'm I'm looking forward to going over a picks for Clinton house because let's do it let's do it right now I feel like I feel like I I might have might have got pretty good on that one.

SPEAKER_04

You think so?

SPEAKER_03

Um let's from what I recall I didn't have them written down but well and this is fun.

SPEAKER_04

So I I just created this this image here just a little bit ago and uh it was fun that we had the night force skill stage in there that was cool and then we also picked cartridge there. Oh man this is taking a while to load finally here we go all right Clinton house just crushed first overall pick Josh I feel like you should call I feel like I'm gonna think I can give Ken a call and see what the heck's going on yeah my goodness you need to get your money back on that and I I don't know what's going on there because he had he had scores in every stage oh you know what he wasn't shooting sportsman was he I wonder if he had his bullets loaded backwards well that even then he shot really well when you think about it you know that'd be nice to know before we do our snake draft yeah no kidding that he's gonna yeah load his bullets backwards no sportsmen are not um let's uh that's Clinton House I'm gonna let's bring that one up and April 11th results Sinaski yeah he shot sportsman oh man but you know what I still I'm surprised that result with that result even sportsman man I would have thought I would have you know I would expect he would be still top 25 you know Kin's a little guy uh he's just that 6'5 is just pushing him around too much hopefully he's listening to this he just doesn't have an at enough ass behind him for that thing um my best pick was my fourth that was Patty Young's second oh nice yeah so yeah that that was the one that I couldn't remember if I I thought I might have had Patty on mine too.

SPEAKER_05

B Wilson uh I still don't know who you are but you're making me proud.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah no kidding dude he has crushed it this year.

SPEAKER_05

I think all of them have been top five hasn't it's Wilson's gonna be winning before too long. Hopefully then we can bring him on here and talk about how well he's done yeah I think last week that like if you just picked five semi pros you'd pick like the top ten it seems like it it seems like this year there's been a a trend of a lot of newer names up there at the top so it's it's really interesting like the guys you're known to follow and and the heavy hitters everybody knows like there it's getting shook up exactly yeah I love seeing that yep it is um Tommy Agosset uh Armistead actually did really well I think on day one uh if I'm remembering correctly I remember looking I'm like holy cow like he's he's up there maybe I had it sorted wrong or something too but um he had done really well um cartridge beamer gt yep yep that's what that's what Kale was shooting um all right let's take a look at the skill stage here I'm gonna Matt Sprouse uh cleaned it in 6242 oh boy yeah uh we all guessed like around 40 seconds man I I I'm surprised at the time that he he I play pretty sure he said that he was doing the big small variation I think so yeah I think so did my camera just shut off yeah you're gone it looks it looks like you did we'll keep talking well oh I've lost we've lost our director I don't know what to do I'm gonna pick my nose um no it's working now all right um I guess with that let's bring on a winner to the canic match and um we'll talk we'll talk with Chris Katalik here all right all right Chris Katalik welcome back to the show after your second win this year how are things buddy thank you things are good things are good yeah it's a good spot to be in after uh what two wins in the season and uh can't be disappointed with that so you got Texas and now uh canning Ruger I mean two pretty different matches what do you say yeah um yeah a little bit I mean obviously the scenery the back to the match the venue everything's very different one another um yeah the wind was tricky in both matches I think that put a big role in the outcome so um and different different in a lot of ways so different in a lot of ways you've shot this match quite a few times haven't you this was my fourth time this year yeah yeah um every year it seems like they do a little bit more and more and more with it right they do they do you know Doug and Keith do a great job at this match it's it's a spectacular venue I know you know I watched the show leading up to the match I know you spent a lot of time out there the Cameo is such an awesome place uh to be but Doug and Keith do a lot of work to make sure that every year the match they you know they they look at the previous results they look at the you know get feedback and and try to figure out how they can maybe make it a little better next time around you know change some stages move some targets do some stuff just try to make things a little more balanced and I I I enjoy it every time I think they do a great job. So this year was a test it was it was uh it was windy it was windy it was windy even by beamers standards yeah it was what what'd you share this weekend Chris I ran out 25 yeah rambo 25 out forty seven just put another one on the count nailed it yep you nailed it you knew it yeah um you know ironically same barrel from Texas which was not my original it wasn't my intent I was gonna say that barrel was like shooting stupid small so I mean your counter it was so um so interesting did you shoot at all between Texas and and Colorado I mean broken a barrel if you were taking off okay just broken a barrel that was about it so that no matches no one day matches uh just yeah spent some time breaking in a few barrels that I uh that I needed to get done and so my intent was to take a new barrel uh pull that other one save it because it was shooting stupid small get another one broken in it was shooting just as just as good and uh so I'll make it brief that the Saturday before the match I went to the range do a little final load testing a little tuning just make sure it's it's happy where it's at everything looked really good I decided to take the gun home clean it get it ready and on Wednesday before I was going to leave for the match I was flying out Thursday morning Wednesday afternoon take it to the range shoot it really quick make sure the zero's set barrel's fouled and then leave well on Wednesday afternoon while I was sitting there shooting it at the range it wasn't grouping very well it wasn't grouping well at all and at about two tenths worth of vertical and I thought well crap what what happened um I thought well maybe something's loose I loosened the brake up tighten it back down double check the scope make sure the scope's tight shoot it again and now all of a sudden I've got like a mill shift in my point of impact I I I was and now of course I've it's like six o'clock in the evening the range is getting ready to close and I am out of options so I didn't really know what to do. It was a little bit frantic to be quite honest with you because two tenths vertical is not going to work at that match in Colorado at all. So uh I dove home I think you know what I bet you the brake's dirty. I haven't cleaned it in a while I'm terrible about maintenance um it's probably a dirty break. Let me just go get a different break.

SPEAKER_04

I'll put it on the gun and don't don't clean the dirty one. Just put a new one on.

SPEAKER_05

Well I mean to be fair so I put on my phone right there. I took another one out of it. I took another one out of the cabinet and uh and I put it in CLR to start soaking it overnight because that was going to need time. So here I am six o'clock in the morning The next day, Thursday morning, I've got a fly out. I'm cleaning a break and I'm I'm getting my stuff ready. I put everything in the case. Uh go back to I've been waiting for the range to open at nine o'clock because I need to leave my house at nine to get to the airport in time to catch my flight to go to Colorado. I get there, I put this other brake on without touching my gun from the day before, it hits exactly point of aim, point of impact, and puts a tiny little group with 10 shots. And I thought, okay, everything's good. Let's go haul ass to the airport. Let's go to Colorado. So Friday morning. Hold on. Hold on. Yeah. Let's say that's not the result you get. Okay, so I had it back up. I took the barreled action, stripped it down to nothing, barreled action from the Navasota match and threw it in a gun case as my backup plan. If something is if something's not right, I know that I know that barrel runs. So all right. They're both chambered at exactly the same time. You know, Aaron does a great job. Everything's consistent. I don't even know. Yep. So I took that as my backup plan. So we get on the airplane, take off, Friday morning, I go to the range, and I shoot it. Now I have I have the you know same setup from when I left on Thursday morning. I have a barreled action and I have a clean break. So I want to test it. I get to Colorado, everything shoots fine. 10 shots, small, small little group again, and I think, okay, the problem was a dirty break, but you know what? I don't know how dirty this one is. Let's put a clean one on the gun. Put it on. All of a sudden, point of impact shifts way over and it doesn't group. Bullets aren't even touching the same hole. The brake is the problem. Brake is a problem. So I stopped. I'm like, okay, let's put the other one back on. I mean, I'm like, yeah, yeah, yeah. Hopefully this one goes right back to where it came from. Hopefully it goes right back to where it was. And this was where it was really bad. It was 1.8 mils right and 1.6 mils high. It barely caught the target. That's a problem. That's a problem. So I said, you know what? Stop. We're not doing anything else. Strip it down. Let's get the other barreled action out of the case. Let's get it set up real quick. Let's shoot. It did what it was supposed to do and uh ran the match. Oh my goodness. A little stressful on Friday. A little stressful on Friday before the match. That made my heart rate go up. Just listening to it. Right.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, I know you win.

SPEAKER_05

Well, I mean, when you fly to a match, it's you know, it's you're limited, right? I I you know normally I would take a backup rifle that's fully set up, different scope, scot, you know, the whole thing is fully ready to go. If there's a problem, just go get the other gun out of the case and don't worry about it. Figure it out when you get home. But when you fly, your your options are kind of limited.

SPEAKER_02

So yeah.

SPEAKER_05

This was we laughed about it. We thought, you know, this is going to be a great story to tell if I uh if I pull the wind off this weekend and and talk about it. You could have been a man and just shot without a break. Yeah, I thought about it. I thought about it, you know, and uh that might be the best case. That might be the best case.

SPEAKER_03

That would be for uh what bullet you're in.

SPEAKER_05

Uh 135 burger. It has been running very well for me in that gun. Um that gun at times, you know, we all like to shoot the six millimeter, you know, the the dasher, the R-based cartridges, because of how accurate they are. To be honest with you, man, that that 135 and my 25 by 47 runs as accurate or more accurate than my dasher. There's times I think it's the more accurate rifle of what I have, to be honest with that. That's pretty cool. It is. It makes the decision really tough to decide which gun I'm gonna run on any particular match. And I actually thought about taking my dasher this weekend when I was looking at the forecast about a week, two weeks out. I thought, mmm, five to ten miles an hour. This match is typically so far, you know, the last few times I've shot it, it's not a lot of wind, you know. Um at the last minute, I've decided to just take the 25. Thought, you know what, if conditions change, I'll be prepared. And boy, I'm glad I did, too.

SPEAKER_03

Sure. It looks like the conditions were pretty tough from what I saw, the scores. I think I think I saw you finished down like over 20, wasn't it?

SPEAKER_05

29, yeah. 29. Uh I think the last few times I've shot the match, uh, Beamer, I think it was, you know, I finished somewhere. I I have finished historically somewhere around like 22 to 26 down on that match. Um, which surprisingly, if you know, in the past I would say that the match is kind of like a I don't know, five to eight mile an hour type wind scenario. Uh cameute is unique. You know, you got well, you guys have all been there. It's you know, the firing line kind of swings around a the rim of a ridge, and and so every stage is set up with its, it's really you kind of have your own, you're shooting into a draw or into a valley or cross a drainage or something. You kind of have your own little win scenario on every single stage, which is one of the things I like about the place, but um it can be quite variable, but you know, usually I've not dropped a lot of shots. I've seen it get really windy there, World Championships, you know, in 24 on what, day four, the second day for open on the back half of the day, man, it got really, really windy. And that's exactly how it was on both days here. It was that almost all day long.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, when we're when we were setting up there, we had a couple days that was like, oh, we should be shooting right now. This is fantastic. A ton of wind. But then we had a couple days that we're like no wind at all. Yeah. It can be mild. Yeah. So with the number of times you shot there, um, you know, I I'll I'll just I'll I'll be straight with you guys. When Beamer and I set up the Course of Fire for the Worlds there, like our number one goal was to make like a really well, not I would say number one goal, one of the side quests was to make a really efficiently run match, right? I mean it's where we pick all the, you know, we're all the stage locations and we group stages together. Um and you shot that match. You know, do you think that the way that things were grouped for the worlds took anything away from that match? Because one of the special things that that I think is special about the Ruger Kenik match is that they just use so much of the property, right? I mean, you may you may drive for a half a mile, stop, shoot a stage, and then drive for another quarter mile, stop, shoot a stage, right? Um, which is which is awesome, but it uh efficiency-wise, like it man, it it it's it's tough. You're throwing a plow on the ground, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

You really are. Yeah. No, I agree. So that the one of the things I like about the way that uh you know Doug and Keith run the match, like you said, is you know, when you can drive a you know quarter mile and get into another section, you you're shooting it at a whole nother section of the range. What you just had, what you just held on the last stage is it's irrelevant. Right. We came around and um you know, kind of at the end of the property where you have to hike up the hill, right? It's where they had the cedar tie post. I think we used like the world championships and stuff like that.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, like stage, well, in this case it was 16, 17, 18. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, exactly. Exactly. So in this case, it's funny. So we shot uh stage 17, it's a KYL with a far confirmation and near confirmation, and on that particular stage, was standing on top of that hill from there, it sounded like it felt like the wind was coming at your back. It was six o'clock. But but it wasn't. It was nine o'clock. You needed like six to eight tenths of left wind because the wind was wrapping around the hill that you were on and you couldn't see it. And it was just yeah. And then you go to stage 18, which was the elk stage, and guys shoot in a different direction. Shoot a whole different direction. Yeah, and the wind isn't the wind isn't isn't you know blocked at all. And guys need three and a half mils on the last target of wind.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Three and a half mills. I needed two two mills with my 25. I needed two mills on the 600 yard target, 625 yard target. Yeah, that's good. That's how hard it was blown.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah. Awesome. Awesome. Yeah. So what's uh what's next on the agenda? Where are we going to next? Is it you called this one, you said, hey, I'm yeah, not really shooting a whole lot, you know. Yeah. Family stuff and everything that came up in between, and and then you're like, Well, I'll probably go to signed up for Ruger, right? And um signed up, one. Now you're two for two of your last two matches. What are we doing next?

SPEAKER_05

I mean, I gotta I gotta be careful. I gotta make sure I pick a good one to make it three for three. But yeah, no, yeah, I don't have anything. I I have not signed up for anything right now. So now that I've got two wins, I need to take a look at, you know, qualifiers. Qualifiers, that's exactly right. That's exactly right. I knew you were going there. So I started looking now, uh, started looking at what's next, started looking to see what works in the schedule. Unfortunately, there's gonna be a lot of a lot of qualifiers kind of through the summer that don't work with my work schedule at all. I'll be out of town. Uh, there's no way to get back. So um it's kind of gonna be late summer, early fall before I really hit the qualifiers. In between then and now, I'm gonna look at some matches that I really just want to go shoot. That's that's what I'm looking at. Um Punisher might be my next qualifier match. I think that's the next one that I'm available for. Um, I know a guy runs a pretty good match up there, usually previously if the weather cooperates.

SPEAKER_03

One guy that's handsome, one guy that just lives for having good hair.

SPEAKER_05

There's that guy. There's that guy. Absolutely. So uh right now that's what I'm looking at, to be honest with you. Uh but between then, I think there's uh what have you got? Barrel maker? 2.0 August. Well, yeah. It's hard to imagine not going back up to shoot that.

SPEAKER_04

It's gonna be different. This it's it's but uh I'm gonna work with Tucker. We're gonna not the same location. Yeah, it's a different location. Yeah, that yeah. That made that was partly what made it special. But I think we got it. It'll be close second. I think it'll be close second. Like it's it's a cool location. In fact, actually, if you if you were into shooting NRL Hunter matches, the NRL Hunter match that's this weekend up in Sparta, Wisconsin, is where that match is gonna be hosted. So Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Does he have a Fortunate Sun stage all planned out or not yet?

SPEAKER_05

Uh the Barrelmaker 2.0 without a Fortunate Sun stage.

SPEAKER_04

I think it's Josh is now the proud owner of the helicopter. Uh took possession. Yeah. It can be borrowed at any time.

SPEAKER_05

That's not blaring your bringers that's needed. You know. Yeah. You know, the the family always had a really good time. You know, I'd bring the family up to shoot the barrel maker. The cool part is is during the day they'd grab an Uber and go to, you know, go somewhere, uh Sheboygan or something, and kind of walk around town and shop and eat and stuff like that. At the end of the day, we'd all meet up and stuff. And you know, for all of us in Southeast Texas, the uh you know, the break from the heat was always a really added treat. Easy to travel to, easy to get to. So it was a good match. So, anyways, yeah, I'm gonna look for matches that are uh that are fun, you know, outside of qualifiers. I'm gonna look for matches that I want to go to. Uh I really wanted to go to Paul uh Dalen's uh nut crusher match in two weeks. But I just I don't just don't think I can make it work with work. I've got to be in Houston at 8 a.m. that morning, and I just don't think I can get back in time. So that'd be time.

SPEAKER_04

Yep. Yep. We'll see. So Kale Harmon earned his 300 this last weekend. Unfortunately, he couldn't be on the show tonight. Um what's your confidence level? Are you gonna be the second at 300?

SPEAKER_02

How many other shooters do we have at two that have two wins so far? I I don't think he have two.

unknown

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_05

He just has one and he had a good finish. You have the shore accent customs maps coming up this weekend and who probably would be there. Yeah. Yeah. It's hard to not think him.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, we gotta see if he's uh if he's actually I don't he said something about he didn't have that many matches he's gonna sign up for and um and not shoot a whole lot, honestly, but hopefully be at the finale, which is just crazy, you know.

SPEAKER_05

I watched the show last week, yeah. I saw that. I watched it on the uh on the flight out, as a matter of fact. I listened to the show. So thanks for getting it out a day early so we can't. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Nick Kadarzi signed up for short action customs. He is. But yep, he's only got one. Uh only got one when I say that. But um I don't know. I think you stand a pretty good chance. Well, you got momentum. You're two for two in the last two matches, so it'd be hard to pick against you.

SPEAKER_05

It's uh yeah, well, it just kind of comes down to timing, though. It's when can I get out and shoot another well I have to shoot a qualifier to get to 300? So the question is, you know, you know, how long is that gonna take? And so if I focus on qualifiers between now and you know the end of the season, then yeah, it could be uh it could be later in the season before I possibly do it. But I appreciate it. Yeah, I like watching. Heck yeah. Yeah, yeah. You can uh keep picking other guys to win the match like y'all did last time with Rusty and stuff. That's fantastic. Working with those guys, and it's awesome. Motivation, right? It is well, motivation, and you just don't want to jinx. I think y'all picked me to finish second at the Texas match too, which is perfect.

SPEAKER_03

The next match I'm in, pick me to pick second. Thrive thriving as the underdog. I love it. I love a comeback story, don't you?

SPEAKER_05

I think I did it again this do it again this weekend. I was down by what, three or four shots after day one? Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

And I came back. So I mean, down 20. I mean, it is a tough match, but that's the kind of match that you can come back at. You know what I mean? It is. So it is. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. I was talking to Keith on Sunday morning before while we were it was it was still dark outside. We're kind of waiting everything. He said that you know the wind's gonna get really rough, and I told him, I said, yeah, it's I I I welcome it.

SPEAKER_02

I would rather it get tough. Yep. I feel like that could be so yep, absolutely.

SPEAKER_04

Right on, man. Hey, I appreciate you joining us tonight. And uh have a great summer. Hopefully, we'll see you at some matches, but uh good luck next one, dude.

SPEAKER_05

Absolutely. I'll be back on the show soon, I hope. I hope so.

SPEAKER_04

Thanks, Chris. Thanks, guys.

SPEAKER_05

Appreciate it. Talk to you soon.

SPEAKER_04

All right, welcome Sean Johnson to the podcast. How are you, buddy?

SPEAKER_01

Good, good dodging rainstorms and 25-30 mile gusts of wind today. Yeah, I'm surviving.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, yeah. You're out setting up the match, right?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'm doing final prep. We had the sprayers come through, so I had to move some stuff around and just going through and running the course of fire, making sure everything's working right, adjusted a few things, and that's about it.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, okay. Right on. Yeah, just on the show.

SPEAKER_05

So you sit on you like uh a little more you know, part-time, and or you like making guys move, troop lines, what do you got? Everything?

SPEAKER_01

You know, um it's kind of a mix of everything. Uh we have movement, um, troop lines, big smalls, um, big swings. It just depends on the terrain. Um what we have. You know, we're we're uh on range one, primarily again, range two had to be reseeded, so we couldn't play on it this year. Um so we just kind of run run that as the course. Um you can name the barricades, elevated positions, rooftops, platforms, uh shoe towers. Not too much naf, only a couple natural terrains on this on this side of the range up the East Canyon. That's about it. Just trying to, you know, it's it's hard to set up here because you know the weatherman's never right in his wind calls. The all the previous one-day matches we've had this year, um, no win. And they are predicting 12 to 15. And now I'm dealing with 20 to 25 sustained with gust of 30. So we're hopefully lays down. No. Hopefully it doesn't lay down. Oh, it's it's the best year because if people haven't shoot it, we have some crazy topography. And you try to tell these people, says, look at it, you gotta look at this range like a river because you get lift, you get, you know, coming off the river up a canyon, all of a sudden you oh, I only have to hold you know one or two, and all of a sudden it's flipping blowing, you know, not even they're not even close, and it's it's fun to watch. And range two is worse than than range one, but um there's a couple stages where they're go from shooting um a no value to a full value win if they're not paying attention, then it'll catch them.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. What um, you know, based on what you said there with the one days and and you know, the weatherman, like what do you typically plan for a target size in something like this?

SPEAKER_01

I hover right around two MOA. Um uh one days I go a little more generous. Um really trying to grow the new shooters on, and um this one I've kind of dipped into the one and a half because um I've had people, oh, it's too easy. I'm like, well, if no one's cleaned a match, then it's not too easy. Um I will I really like to see the new shooters be able to hit a fair amount of targets so they want to come back. Uh been doing this for well over a decade and you know, trying to keep growing the sport, putting stuff out so everyone gets some hits, but still have enough separators to challenge people. You know, this year I'm but I'm playing with part-time. If the wind lays up, then you know it's not as strong, then I'm gonna drop the part times down to pressure that way. Instead of trying to change target size for no wind and you know, back and forth.

SPEAKER_04

It'll so uh so it's a two MOA is uh times 0.291. So 0.58. Yeah, it's 0.58 mils. Um but a one and a half is 0.4 tenths, yeah, or four tenths almost four and a half tenths. Um I mean that seems I mean that's kind of sporty. Like I I it personally I love a four or five tenths match. Like that's awesome, you know, and like Chris Catalik, we just had on here, like, you know, if if if it is a little bit windy, I mean you you're never out of the game. You don't have to be perfect, you know. You always have an opportunity to, you know, squeeze out a good stage and you're back in it, you know.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And it's it's nice here because you know, you you see the same guys at the top um pretty ready because they're shoot out here enough. And it's nice to see come someone come in and um make him earn it. Instead of the same people always winning the match. There's a cup there's a there's a couple guys that are starting to creep up out in the northwest that are giving uh Gadarzy a run for his money and you know and Reister and his so there's it's nice to see some of these new ones. There's some young guns coming up that are pretty impressive.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah. Well um well, that's it. Thank you for the segue. Why don't we uh why don't why don't we take a look? Um we're gonna we're gonna include you in um in our picks this week. So let me let me bring up impact scoring. You guys can see my screen there. I can make this a little bigger too. Um and what we're gonna do here is we'll just we'll take a look. You have I'm gonna scroll all the way to the bottom here. You have 103 signed up. Uh that's a pretty good that's a pretty good turnout, you know?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. It's it's right there, Drew. You know, I've got a had I think five or six drop out this last week and a half. Really? Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Okay. Work stuff, volume stuff. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Gas in Washington stuff.

SPEAKER_04

That's what I've I mean, Gadarzy, we had him on last last week, yeah, and he's basically like, yeah, I'm gonna drive to whatever I can, but I'm not gonna drive too far, and I'll go to the Fidaley. What's uh what is a price of a gallon of gas up there?

SPEAKER_01

I think when I came through, the last place I passed was 530. Wow. Well, as soon as I cross the border, I get hammered. So I fill up right when I cross, um, before I cross, you know, over into Washington, and as soon as I cross here, it can be anywhere from 80 cents to a dollar more. That's crazy. And then when I run to get groceries, I run in Idaho. Okay. A lot cheaper there.

SPEAKER_04

So yeah, that's crazy. I think here, I mean, everybody's kind of pissed off with diesel prices, they're$4.99 a gallon, and I think our gas is still like$3.80 a gallon. Is that sound right, Josh?

SPEAKER_01

Diesel's$6.30 here.$6.30 or something. Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Plus. I don't know. We I think I filled up this morning for like$5.15 on diesel.

unknown

Ouch.

SPEAKER_05

It did you actually fill up or the uh pump shut up? I no, I I walked in and I said, put uh put a hundred bucks on pump one, and I think I got like two thirds of a tank. Oh man. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I yeah, I I filled up, man. I remember this uh the last gas crunch that we had. I don't know. But you know, like you'd you'd put the credit card in and it would shut off at 75 or 100 bucks. This this time the pump uh in this last week I filled up the the PRS truck that we have, which sits most of the year, but needed needed fuel in it. I'm like, all right, well, I'll stop by, fill it up. Uh pump shut off at 150 and it didn't fill it. It was close, but it didn't fill it. I'm like, I can't I I I I'm glad I don't drive this every day, you know.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I think it was closer than five fifty actually, because I I only got like eighteen gallons of fuel. And it was my gosh.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, this I yeah, I hope it doesn't I hope it doesn't last forever, and I hope it doesn't really Affect our sport, you know, but it seems it's every time we get to this point, it seems to do that. Guys start commuting together, just pull back on how many matches you shoot, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Yeah. Well, let's take a look here. So um it's kind of looking out, focusing on pros plus so I mean, maybe we've had a la Keynick match. We had a marksman that was in fourth place, which is crazy. Um, but I you know, to your point, like who knows gonna who who's gonna take this. Um Alan Earth. Solid shooter there. Yeah. Well, uh we're just talking names here. We're not don't we're gonna make a snake draft for it, and I'm telling you, you're not going first.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, well, that's easy because I I got I got a couple, I got three that I'm gonna I'm looking at.

SPEAKER_04

Well, I have I have three as well, but I you know, I think we all are gonna jump after one. But um Brian Lapina. Chris Garcia's pro shooter, but he'll be gas gun. You know, if you're picking a top gas gun guy, there's nobody better. Last year's champion gas gun shooter. Of course, the Piper. Uh did was this one of the matches he won last year? No. Okay. He could easily win it. This is his backyard, too, isn't it?

SPEAKER_01

It's his backyard, yeah. He's he's usually right there. He he pretty much on the one-day matches, if he's here, he wins. Uh the two-day matches, he's right up at the top. Um there's uh David Cantu's been. I can't remember if he's signed up. I think he is. He's coming on good.

SPEAKER_04

David Cantu. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

You got the Muns that are signed up.

SPEAKER_04

Well, David Hoff. I mean, David Off, he could shoot well. Okay, I'm taking David Off first pick then. He could. He could he could do well. He has done well this year. Jacob Ricer.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, Royston be in there. Sheldon's coming, so Sheldon's always right there.

SPEAKER_04

Uh Josh, our friend from MDT.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Uh Michael Bay. Morris, he man, he shot last weekend. He was in Colorado.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_04

Now he's gonna be in Washington. Uh Nick Gabhart. Man, I can tell you if the wind lays down.

SPEAKER_01

He's gonna be, he lost he's shooting tactical. His his probe gun went down. But he's done, he's done well here at the RTC matches. So it's good, he's he could be right in there too.

SPEAKER_04

Seriously, but three away. Like I he he's shooting exceptionally well.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I only have a couple targets, only have one target past 800 because if it the sun comes out, the mirage is terrible because all the moisture's still on the ground.

SPEAKER_04

Okay. Well, that's I mean, that should go. Yeah, Nick Eppard should be one of our picks, even for open. Uh obviously Nick A Darcy, right? Like absolute stud.

SPEAKER_00

He's won it the past two years.

SPEAKER_04

It's a strong stat. Yeah. Can he go three in a row?

SPEAKER_02

Oh, that'd be a tough I know the three P. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Uh weren't we talking with Clay earlier in the year about guys' uh back-to-back wins at a facility? We were, and it's tough to do, right? Oh yeah. I almost thought Clay was on the fence if it hasn't been done.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, I'll make sure something happened.

SPEAKER_04

Oh my gosh. Yeah, yeah. Nancy Kerrigan, Nick Kadarzi's knee on the bottom.

SPEAKER_01

No, I'll just I'll get Ryster and him fighting. That doesn't take much.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, okay. Uh yeah, you got Rick Smunn, Riley Jocks, Scott Satterley. This is his backyard too.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, Saturday's just right up the road. He's not 40 minutes from here.

SPEAKER_04

Uh shoot sportsman. Yep. He could be a good sportsman shooter there. Uh Sheldon, obviously.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Sheldon's always in the mix.

SPEAKER_04

Yep. Spencer, Tyler. Uh Chase Beckley, too, Tyler. So Trig. Trigby could.

SPEAKER_00

Trig. This Trig's take Trig's done well. He's taken down gosh, he just missed. He was top youth, but he I think he was fourth last year.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he's solid, solid shooter. All right. I'm going to share a different screen here. And we're going to snake draft this thing. Uh-oh. Window. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, you came in with a lot of confidence that you knew who you were going with. Are we going to let Beamer go first? Or Josh, maybe you maybe you just, you know what?

SPEAKER_03

We're going to. I would. I mean, I I had the top picks from last week, so I don't know. What does that earn me? What is that do I get a keep? Oh the top spot? Or is that is that just like is that too uh weighted too heavy?

SPEAKER_04

I'll go with it. You can pick first again. Yeah. And I think I think I got my ass handed to me with the picks. So um yeah, I also, if you guys are looking here too, I went and filtered pros and semi-pros that are in the list. I don't think there was anybody not classed that I think we we missed. Um guess we'll find out when one of you guys picks a hidden treasure in there.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. I don't know. I mean it we we we do have a strong, I think we all have a strong favorite on this one, so it is a little it is a little heavy-handed if I get to pick him first. Take Nick Kadarzy. Go for it, pull the bird.

SPEAKER_04

All right, there he is. There he is. All right. And then oh, let's format this. I would have fought strike through. Josh Edget.

SPEAKER_05

I feel like Piper hasn't had the match he's wanted to yet this year, and I'm gonna throw him up there.

SPEAKER_03

I almost picked him first, just to throw a crazy wrench in everybody's plans. Yep. Just oh my god, he didn't pick Nick. The viral the virality of that. But no.

SPEAKER_04

I yeah, virality is uh obviously we're making up social media words here. I'm gonna I'm gonna take Jacob. All right. Sean, did we leave anybody?

SPEAKER_01

Come on.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I did. There's a couple solid, uh there's there's a bunch of picks here, but there's like you get you get two picks here, Sean. You get two picks. And Pete, these people, the ones you don't pick are gonna harass you this weekend.

SPEAKER_01

I get harassed non-stop. It doesn't really matter. I'm gonna go with um Riley Jacks.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. And then who's your next one? You get a second pick. It's a snake draft. I'm on the I'm on the snake draft. Oh shit. Yep. Give me Chase Backley. You're taking a semi-pro off the board, but I I agree with it.

SPEAKER_04

I like it.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, he did good last year.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

You can't go wrong there. Um, uh I'm gonna go trig.

SPEAKER_04

And I'm leaving, I'm leaving some solid talent out there, but I'm kind of rolling the dice, which no, you're doing good. It hasn't worked out for me. It hasn't worked out for me yet, though, Sean.

SPEAKER_05

Josh Edgend. He stole that pick from me. Um the other Beckley.

SPEAKER_02

Tyler. Tyler. Tyler. Yep. Canada in the house. I think I'm gonna go to David Hoff. Okay. And you get another one. I got another one. Um I think Moritz's gonna have a good match. My next picks are hanging out there.

SPEAKER_03

I love it. Um sadly, there's a lot of names I don't I don't know for this match.

SPEAKER_04

These are the West Coasters, you know? They they hang out on the West Coast and all of a sudden come to a finale and and let us know. You know what I mean? Yeah, no kidding.

SPEAKER_01

Hey, where are we our own one of those together?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, we did, yeah, heck yeah. Man, that goes back away. Yeah. Was that seven years ago?

SPEAKER_00

Oh gosh. It's gonna be a big one.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it's a KM. It may have been 2022. It was 19 or 20, 22, I think, maybe.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, it did.

SPEAKER_04

It goes back away.

SPEAKER_01

AG Cup, finale, and AG Cup.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that's right. All at KM, on it. Yep. Yeah, that's right.

SPEAKER_02

Yep. Josh Edget. Uh Glasscock. Yeah. Uh Keith, isn't it? Yes. I believe. Yeah. Yep. Uh I gotta. Did I take words off of here?

SPEAKER_04

I did. Okay. You did. Alright. Alright. I'm going with Rick's Mund.

SPEAKER_02

John? Okay. Uh Opina.

SPEAKER_04

And then who's your next one here? This is probably your last pick. This is probably your last pick.

SPEAKER_00

The next one's Micheldon.

SPEAKER_02

Nailos. Okay. He always does well. I got I'm I'm going with Spencer, too.

unknown

Oh.

SPEAKER_04

I'm really, really happy I got both of those guys. Either one of those guys could win this match. Oh, yeah. Heavy on the Muns. Mun Mun friendly here. You going Jurgens?

SPEAKER_02

No, Gerbart. Gebbert?

SPEAKER_04

Oh. Oh, uh, alright. I love that big. Which one? There's two of them.

SPEAKER_02

Well, yeah, yeah. You can go Jesse.

SPEAKER_04

I'm going Jesse. You're going Jesse Gebhardt. I'm telling Nick. I man, I what is the wind supposed to be this weekend? Yeah. What's the wind supposed to be like this weekend? I'm not. It could be any.

SPEAKER_01

There's they're they're they're saying about 12 to 15.

SPEAKER_04

Okay. But it but it might lay down. It might lay down.

SPEAKER_01

It might ramp up.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I'm telling you, if I I even either way, you said not out past 800 or 850. Like Nick Gebhardt with a with a 308 could be a serious contender here.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Yeah.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

One to watch for. All right. Last but not least, Beamer. Uh Alan Ernst. Alan Ernst. Alan. Yeah. Yep. Love it. Alright. We're going to see how this shakes out.

SPEAKER_04

Cool. Sean, any uh parting favors for the folks that are coming to your match that are probably going to listen to this?

SPEAKER_01

You know, um, we got a new shirt sweatshirt design. From we haven't done it yet.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Hasn't heard about our sweatshirts. I was supposed to get some sent out, but they all disappeared when I came back up here. So the ones people I told last year I was going to send them to it, they're good them this year. Okay. Um, you know, we got our great Nordic Smoke catering us as usual. We have some great sponsors, you know, Alan, Mark and Alan Schwaration Customs.

SPEAKER_04

Oh man. Sach is awesome. Yeah. Good dude.

SPEAKER_01

From Vortex has stepped up huge this year, and Craig from Area 419. Always Ryan from MDT takes very good care of less in the range and matches.

SPEAKER_02

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Derek at test from magneto speed. They I don't know what happened, but they can they lost some stuff and came through last minute and phenomenal. And I can't, you know, got John Kyle and Amy. I can't say enough about those guys. They take care of us.

SPEAKER_04

Supporting the foundation shirt right there, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. And then I got um Defiance stepped up and send action it's sending out ruckus action and couple uh 50 off certs. So it's you know, it's gonna be an alright prize table. Um that's what I have in my hand. There's stuff still coming. Yeah, yeah. But we get here in time and just send the wrong address.

SPEAKER_04

Yep. Yeah, well, well man, uh Brueger Koenig match was an absolute disaster with the banner and asserts and all that from us. Like I I said a USPS and then found out USPS doesn't deliver to cameo. So a lot of the certs were like I like I kind of doctored certs here and sent them, they printed them and yeah. Sorry guys, but your do you you have your stuff, right?

SPEAKER_01

No. It's uh oh my it's going to it was delivered to a stage to someplace today. It said late. Um it has a good chance it's probably in TriCities or Spokane, so it'll get here in the next day or two.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, that makes me super nervous. I hate playing this game. Uh uh yeah, and yours has sent USPS2 in transit.

SPEAKER_02

Yep. Okay. Well, my fingers are crossed.

SPEAKER_03

This was never this was never a problem when Shannon was in charge. Oh my god.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, that's not even funny because he doesn't watch the show. Like he's not even gonna laugh at that.

SPEAKER_03

There'll be five, there'll be five more people that will laugh at it.

SPEAKER_04

That'd be clay, Clay, I'm sure. Yeah, Clay loves Pokemon. Yeah, there's more Nature.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. There's more there's more certs in there this year. We got a lot of like Timney came on board. They threw it. There's a search for those out there. There's Trigger Tech has certs now. Nice. Um Reading, a couple big certs in there. Yeah, there's there's a lot more than than what we used to always have. So I yeah, hopefully that stuff shows up. Um we appreciate you, Kitty, and all you people. Sure. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

You can run around, show like a chick with your head cut off.

SPEAKER_04

Every year. Every year it's as many folks as we can meet with, man.

SPEAKER_01

The first year we snuck in early.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, well, actually, I've done that a couple years now. Like Josh was in there setting up with Forrester, and I'm like, ah, I can get in there. Like with an without an exhibitor badge. We I've done this with Sean. I know how to get in there.

SPEAKER_01

We got it.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It was a busy, busy year for us, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Heck yeah. Well, buddy, we uh hope you have a great weekend. And appreciate it. Um hopefully the wind uh takes takes hold here, and those four tenth targets become awesome. You know?

SPEAKER_01

It'll be good. It'll be a good one.

SPEAKER_04

Right on. All right.

SPEAKER_01

Thanks, Sean. I appreciate you guys.
