SPEAKER_03

All right, we got a heck of a show for you this week. Uh we uh recap a couple matches. Uh we don't have a match this coming weekend with Mother's Day, but this is the best show yet. Beamer, what are we doing?

SPEAKER_02

We're gonna be talking about going fast at the Vortex Vengeance. We're gonna be talking about going slow at the Oki Showdown, and even more than that.

SPEAKER_00

And I'm gonna tell you how it can get western down in New Zealand. Love it.

SPEAKER_03

Stay tuned, you guys are gonna love it. Boys, how you doing? It's been a while since we've had the gang all here.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Pretty good. Pretty good. Pretty good.

SPEAKER_02

Joshua did some shooting this past weekend.

SPEAKER_03

I did. Finished all right. Are you are you happy with where you were at there?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Um, I mean, uh only one forced bad shot all weekend, so I felt like I I actually pulled my head out of my ass for a weekend and and shot well all match. Uh about the third to last stage on Sunday, I I dropped four, which was uh, you know, a third of my points uh the whole match, but it was the left-right game. Uh we had a headwind. It was picking up, and it was just I I I shot it well. It just didn't a little bit of you know, two percent more luck and would have been right there.

SPEAKER_03

So what uh what caliber and all that?

SPEAKER_04

I ran the six GT 105s.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. Okay.

SPEAKER_04

Real original there. Yeah. Sometimes when you're struggling, you gotta pull out old trusty.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Well, we're gonna bring Ryan Ryan back on here in a little bit, and I'm assuming he was shooting a sixth creed. Do you think there was an advantage shooting a sixth creed at Mach Jesus this weekend?

SPEAKER_04

I'd I'd love to hear that he never left the plate because he there was like four stages left and he came over and zeroed. I'm like, uh-oh, something must have happened. So I pulled up the scores and I'm like, no, he's still winning right now. He's maybe just triple checking something. But yeah, he had the crony on it and everything, and holy cow, that dude is screaming.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, maybe we need to go back that. We need to go back to going fast now. It's been too long since we were going fast now. It came out of favor. When everybody started going slow with dashers and stuff.

SPEAKER_04

Now we need to get it cranked up and back over 3,000. You know, the equipment and technology now, it's like you can still see stuff going faster again. So it might trend back that way a little bit. Who knows?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's true. I mean, our weights of our rifles and the stock designs and all that have evolved quite a bit since uh since the olden days.

SPEAKER_03

And and so of the barricades. I mean, they've gotten they've gotten significantly sturdier and you know. I'm trying to think when when we all started shooting tripod rear, and that probably was after we slowed down, right? But on stages where you just need a little extra stability, you can tripod rear that and you're probably still gonna see things, right? Yeah. Yeah, for sure.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it just the th the thing that always drives me crazy about shooting fast is just how fast the projectile gets to the target. I think you just really have to make sure you retrain your your brain and the and the the time of flight and your reaction time to be able to watch.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. It's it's funny when you get a fast guy in your squad too, and you know, you're you're the 2800 to 2900, like, yeah, you're just whatever. And actually, the first time I really remember this, I was at Red Brush, which is Adam Weenberger's uh and Fred Mudd's one-day poise. And I was squatted with a guy that had only shot one match at that point. Uh he'd shot the gap grind. This is in the winner. Turned out to be Levi Wilson shooting a six GT at like 3150 or something. And I'm like, brother, you don't know what the hell you're doing. And he finished like third in this match. But and this was his second match ever, I think. But um it's funny though, like like I was getting at, when you get somebody that's cruising like that, you can you can hear the difference, and you're like, whoa, yeah, what's this guy doing, you know?

SPEAKER_02

You'll pow dang.

SPEAKER_03

Newbie. You know, look at Levi.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Yeah, Levi's always liked that. He's he's always liked that uh like 3,000 feet a second range. Yeah. But he, you know, he says he he sees the bullet better actually at that speed because the trace is lower.

SPEAKER_02

So that's a valid point. Levi needs to get a win under his belt so we can talk to him on here.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, maybe maybe we need to start bringing in some special guests once in a while. You know who I wanted to bring on? This is this goes back to I think it was the Clinton House match. Ken Ken Sinoski shot sportsman there. Oh yeah. And finished like 90 or 100 overall. It's terrible. Like for a great shooter like him, you know, I figured he was gonna go lights out on sportsman, but just bring him in for therapy. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

On the everyday, tell us where the big bad Creed more hurt you.

SPEAKER_03

Yep. Yep. Let's uh let's take a look at some picks. Um, you know, we'll uh I think why don't we just go through both of these picks here and then we'll uh we'll bring our winners on and and uh talk to them about this stuff too. So I'm gonna share my screen. Josh, while you were getting ready, we went through and kind of detailed out how the picks went. So this is Okie Showdown. Um we had Watts on here or Gain on here. Oh wow. Um come on now. There we go. All right, Watts pick McCormick, Mayer, Rhodes, Ant, and Obadiah Barnes. Um McCormick was a no-show. In fact, I think uh Bushman actually took his spot at the match. Um gained a caruso, caples, Marriott, sure, and Stomer all did pretty well. Marriott had another good match, you know. He uh finished really well there at best in Texas and then um also did well at uh Oakie.

SPEAKER_02

He's coming off that tack shooting and got the got all of his recoil management under control.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I dude I uh can you imagine shooting tack for what two, three years and then then going to a dasher? Yeah. Jeez.

SPEAKER_02

When's the 22 I'm shooting all of a sudden?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, gotta feel invincible. Uh Beamer, you did all right here. Zincoon, long and acre taking third. That's a heck of a finish for him. Um Barnard, Graves, Showwalder. All top 30. Um I knew better. I knew better than a pick Tate. He's he's so busy. But he's one of those guys that I wouldn't be surprised. Like if he showed up, he'd be top five, top ten. Like he it's amazing fundamentals, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Maybe we need to maybe these these no shows is if you pick a no-show and Morgan King shows up to the match. You get a we get a we we random draw between who picks the who picks the no-show and then you can automatically get your get your Morgan King points. I think that's what we need to do. There you go.

SPEAKER_04

Well, we just Tate was too busy boxing up some left-handed actions for me. That's why he didn't show up.

SPEAKER_03

You're dying to get some lefties spot up for guys or what?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I got a couple customers, left-handers. Uh I've been quite on some actions for.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, right on. Yeah, hopefully. I mean, uh that's typically what he's doing. He's working hard or roping. It's not a it's not a lack of effort of why guys are hitting stock. Right. Oh, uh, this was an Oki Showdown. This was Vortex Vengeance. Let's get that right, take a look. Um, it's funny, we realized that Steiner picked all the Dave's. Right. Yeah. D Dave O', Dave Preston, David Christman. Uh, and he also had Ryan back.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, real mixed bag there.

SPEAKER_03

Yep. Um, he did alright. He I mean, obviously picking a winner, but uh, and then he had Andrew Macos or Makos. Um did alright. Or Gain went with Jeff Geary, who I it was 154, but I think that means no show, right? Or uh I I think he it looked like he left after day one.

SPEAKER_02

Maybe his knee was was uh too much on his pretty good.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, so you saw him there?

SPEAKER_06

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. Well he does my shooting. Yeah, go over and Tanya Hardingham or something? No, no. That's a 40-year-old reference at this point. 30. Um, Gossett, Warren, both six and five, good. Patty was 17, Taylor. Taylor probably wishes he had some drop points back. Uh Beamer, you did all right here. You had Francis, Keith, B.

SPEAKER_02

Wilson, Galati, Zwirz. Rolling with the upper mid-pack mafia for most of them. Yep.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

This is a good finish for your for Galati. Yeah, for sure. Yeah. Yep. Yeah, I think I saw his Instagram post. Um he's had like a seven-month layoff or something like that. So pretty pretty salty for him to come in and go top junior, top, and then twelfth place. So that's that's that's awesome.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, shout out, Johnny. Um, man, I picked pretty much team Wisconsin plus Chad Heckler. Yeah. Uh and I think, I mean, this is Josh, who else was there from Wisconsin? I think. Did I get everybody here?

SPEAKER_04

No. Who am I missing? Gosh, you're gonna put that on me, aren't you? Uh the whole, well, I guess Wisconsin. Uh are you calling Rob Wisconsin? He's technically Illinois. Well, I'm calling you Wisconsin too. Oh, okay. Well, the whole uh Polish mafia was there. The whole Polish mafia, okay.

SPEAKER_03

Yep. Were you guys all squatted together?

SPEAKER_04

No. Um Brian Meyer was also there. Okay. Yeah, Bart.

SPEAKER_03

Um, I think I I think I did all right though, here. Um, all top 20. Oh, yeah, that's right. Uh uh Gobly was there. Yeah. Uh Vlasic too. Yeah, okay.

SPEAKER_02

Um we need to sum these up next time just so we can see the the s the spread.

SPEAKER_03

It's not even close. But I have my picks have been not so great the last few weeks. I've I've really really been off. Then we had Tony Rocco. This is uh, yeah, Steiner said keep an eye out for this guy. Yeah, top 20 finish. Um you know what? Let's let's see if old Tony Rocco has a uh he does have a profile. He's got a membership. Let's I'm gonna quick share my share my screen.

SPEAKER_04

Uh to hit on a name that was on your list there, can we just talk about how Chad was 11 for 11 stages clean?

SPEAKER_03

Uh yeah, no. Absolutely. Um man, I was I was rooting rooting for him when I saw that Saturday afternoon. I'm like, oh buddy, good for you. And then of course I uh talked to Steiner. Well, I I sent Steiner and Sinaski and Mick Mishensky a message and harassed them about having their course of fire clean so far, and which they didn't really enjoy. Um but you know, it it got tough on Sunday, huh? What was I was talking to Yuki today, I saw him. What was the big difference between Saturday and Sunday? Because both weather sucked, right? I mean, from what I saw, it looked like it sucked. Well, it it sucked a little bit.

SPEAKER_04

Um, you know, MKM's known for mirage and usually some sort of a headwind. Um and really all day Saturday was overcast, and actually the first third of the day snowed. Um so you had those flurries and very little wind Saturday with overcast. So like the typical tricky mirage, you know, that you would deal with there wasn't there. And then so no mirage and light winds just made it predictable, I guess, if you will. Um and then Sunday, you know, as sun came out and about midday, halfway through the day, it it started picking up mile an hour. So that started blowing guys around enough to definitely start bleeding points.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Josh was saying too that with the snow coming down, like you could you could see the wind gradients at like every distance. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

You know, like it was funny that the stage I blew up, you know, drop four on, like that was through that wooded section over there, like those his last three stages. And yeah, you've you can't feel anything coming through the woods. And like what you're seeing out there is totally lying to you. So it's like you don't really don't know till you shoot. Uh it could be two or three left or two or three right or or nothing. And uh like Josh said, he's like, Man, I I I hate to say this, but I wish it was still snowing because those stages kind of ate him up too. But at least if you had to snow, you could you'd have a good wind call. You could see it. You could see it. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Uh off to the I don't even know what direction it is, but it's the far right. And you get like what fifty to a hundred yards of woods, and then then you're then you're out in the open again, right?

SPEAKER_05

Yep.

SPEAKER_03

And and who knows? I mean, if the wind's coming left or right there, it's coming across that opener and then piling up against the wood line that you got a shoot through. So it could really do anything. Well, we'll uh we'll bring Beck on here in a minute. Let's take a look at Tony Rocco here, professional from New Jersey. I think we we knew he was from New Jersey, I think, right?

SPEAKER_02

From last from the pain. Yeah. Surprised he doesn't have like a you know a wife beater on in this profile of like a gold chain. He's got he's got a chain on, I guarantee it. Does he? Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Tony, I hope I hope you know we're having fun with you. No offense. Uh well, good finish this weekend, Tony, too. You um yeah, the number you you were second at Sheepdog last year, which is pretty outstanding. Um man, you had you that was a really good match for you, Tony. And then 2020 this last weekend. Uh, I probably should look up score on impact scoring instead of here, but oh, I guess now's probably a good time to give an update on impact scoring. The all the data migrations done. So uh all of these scores from forever back are is now migrated to the impact scoring server, uh going all the way back 2012 in the first few matches of uh the PRS existence. Um, and now the PRS website, PrecisionRifleseries.com, uh just started development uh yesterday afternoon. So uh that should come along really quick. We you know, we've already had all the templates and everything made, so it's just a matter of getting the uh content coded or whatever. I don't know, I'm not a tech uh website guy anymore, but um yeah, so it is coming soon. Please be patient with us. I I uh I'll throw this out there. Yeah, we know there's things wrong on both sides of the the fence right now on impact and in the PRS site. Um Megan has been effectively handling as much as she can. Um there's a bunch that falls on Bill too.

SPEAKER_04

Uh you're effectively pissing her off, too.

SPEAKER_03

Yes. If you can hold off for a few minutes, folks, um, don't send info or webmaster or Megan a message. Um yeah, things are things are coming along. Um just make a note of things as you see it. Uh hold off, give us a week or two, and and and we'll see a bunch of a bunch of changes. And um, I'm really excited about it. The new website and and this probably go you know isn't um it isn't relevant for anybody that's watching this because I'm assuming everybody that's watching this is like into the sport and like really interested in this, but um it's gonna be a lot more uh news shooter uh focused, right? So when you get to the to the news site, it'll be like, hey, welcome here. Here's a couple paths you can choose, right? Like and understand more about the game and the sport. Um, and of course, like you know, you get past that and you can go find the standings and do all the things that most people do. But um, that's one of the things we've really been missing. And you know, one of um now that I'm sharing my screen, I'm just gonna go tacticalgames.com, I think. That is not it. Let's uh we're doing it live. The tactical games, um, which is a pretty cool thing, whatever. I used to belong to a CrossFit gym until it broke me every time I went to the CrossFit gym, and then I had my knee scoped and all that, so I don't do that anymore. Um, but there were some folks at our gym that did do this or got into this. Um, what's awesome about this site or going to it is it says right up front fitness and firearm sport, you know, find events, start training. Like, cool. If they're doing this and getting new people into it, like maybe we should take a page out of their book and you know, not have it so like you just come to PrecisionRifsteries.com and it you see Morgan King or Austin Bushman, you know, because it's the standings and who's in first place. Yeah. So um, anywho, that's the update on that. Uh Bill and his team have been working really hard, had their head down for the last seven or eight days, and haven't come up for much air.

SPEAKER_02

So um, we appreciate all their efforts. It's it's good and we're making improvements to the whole scoring system. You guys are working your tail off doing it. And uh, you know, from a as a match director's perspective, I really love the the uh transition to impact scoring, and I think uh the shooters do too. So just to continue to improve.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, no, I appreciate that sentiment. And one of the things one of the things that Bill um has on the near development list for impact scoring, and it this is this is what I can't wait for is actually having push notifications um for whatever it is. Could be memberships, could be a match you signed up for. So like imagine a Saturday night, you know, everybody's out getting dinner, and the match director says, Hey, we're gonna have fog in the morning, we're just gonna delay start for an hour. Just send a push notification out to everybody. Yeah, that's great.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, because no one looks at their emails.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. That's a thousand percent true. I and it and if anybody's like, no, I look at my emails, um, you might have a TISM or something like that, and you probably do. I didn't the last match I went to, which was the Arbuckle pursuit match. Um, I I pulled up my email, saw the email from Impact Scoring, and I scrolled down. I went, okay, yep, that's where Dan Burdochini's telling me to go. Clicked on the clicked on the Google Map link, put it in the car, and just start driving. And showed up at the uh banquet venue. And I'm like, nope, that's not where I want to go. Actually read the email, clicked on the right link. And I'm like, Yeah, okay, I'm just as dumb, just as guilty.

SPEAKER_04

Well, and like uh Steiner sent one out Saturday night, and I hell I didn't read it till yesterday, you know. Like Monday.

SPEAKER_03

Glad it wasn't that important because uh Ryan Beck. Welcome to the show, buddy. Congrats on the win this week at Vortex Vengeance.

SPEAKER_05

Thank you, Ken. Appreciate it.

SPEAKER_03

Heck yeah. Like, yeah, well, hopefully, bear with us here. We're working with several different internet connections. And man, so what's uh it's good give us your take on the weekend, uh, how things went. Like um, you know, we had Chad Heckler who was clean through day one. How did day one treat you? And then uh how'd you use that for for day two?

SPEAKER_05

Uh day one was pretty calm conditions. Uh target sizes were pretty on the larger side, I would say, uh especially for the conditions. There was there was definitely some sporty targets out there, but um I would say, I don't know, two MOA, one and a half MOA average. Um, and then there were some pretty big ones, a couple sporty. ones. Um I fared pretty well down one on day one, um, shooting out of the bus. Had uh you're familiar with the range, the the Land Rover out in the middle of the range with the uh circles in the windows. I missed one of those out of the bus. I think it went off the right. Um, but yeah, pretty, pretty calm day, day one, and uh Chad cleaned up with uh dropping zero, which is pretty impressive. Um and then day two, midway through the morning, the wind started showing up, and uh we were my squad was out on the yellow gate range shooting the long stuff, and I dropped one out there in the morning on the uh thousand yard target, and then we went over to the 600 range, and uh that's when the wind really showed up. Uh, we were getting 15, 17 mile an hour gusts coming across there, and that typical of that range, we're holding like a tenth or two right on the 600 range, which is crazy. Um I mean at at 600 yards we're holding a tenth or two right. It it just didn't make sense. I had to hold left on a couple targets, which I've seen there before. Um so ended up I I had one stage I dropped two on, but uh and then my last stage was the uh skill stage, and of course I had to drop another one there, unfortunately, but uh but yeah, ended up dropping five total, so one on day one and four on day two. So pretty good, pretty good weekend.

SPEAKER_03

That's a very solid weekend. Yeah. Absolutely.

SPEAKER_04

Let's take a look here. Uh kind of go So, Ryan, with about three stages left, I watched you come over to the zero board. Were you questioning something or just triple checking something to seal the deal? Yeah. What was your logic?

SPEAKER_05

One shot, uh, it was the railroad ties, stage five, I think. And I had one shot go over top of a diamond at 500 yards, and I'm like, I'm not sure what happened there. Um, I aimed my next shot, I aimed at the bottom of the plate and and looked like I centered it, and then uh hit everything else except uh my second last shot went off the right on a on the little diamond on the right there. And my last shot, I gave it a tenth left, which again, hard to make sense of that when the wind's coming from the right at 15 miles an hour, but uh hit that one. So I went over the zero board and it was a maybe a tenth high. But I don't know, I can't I can't explain how that one shot went over the target. Cause it was probably a, I don't know, eight inch diamond at 500 yards. And it I saw it go right over the the top tip of the diamond. So just wanted to double check it because it, you know, that's not something you wanna you wanna take chance on whenever you're down, you know, I was down four at that point.

SPEAKER_06

So just went and checked it. Sure. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I can't tell you how many shots I missed, and I'm like, no, I had to be me. You know? And and never once take a sh you know, go over the zero range.

SPEAKER_05

Usually usually you know if it's you, but man, I was solid. You know, those railroad ties are are really solid and you know, I didn't feel like I did anything wrong or different, and that's I watched that bullet go right over the top of the top of that diamond, and it was probably three tenths at least from center. And, you know, especially at 500 yards, it's like wow, something's wrong. So just wanted to double check it and like I said, it was maybe a tenth high. So I put a l I put like a half a tenth offset in my kestrel and it was fine the rest of the day. So I don't know what what happened on that one. Okay. Just didn't want to chance it, you know.

SPEAKER_03

But uh No, yeah, when you're when you're down single digits and and right there for the lead, like, yeah, I mean, well it doesn't doesn't cost you but a couple bullets and a little bit of powder to go over and make sure everything's running true. Right. Um talk about your rifle system. What uh what what what are we using this weekend?

SPEAKER_05

Uh so I'm running an MDT chassis ACC Elite Um Spart Line Barrel, uh Impact Action, Night Force A-Tacker 7 to 35. Um I switched back to the uh botany uh muzzle break this weekend. Um just have just been having a rough year so far and just decided to go back to what I know works. And uh so I put the botany on for this weekend and started shooting that and you know obviously worked out. Um yeah, uh six Creedmore as usual. That's my standard go-to running about 3080 and 109 hybrids. 3080. Yep. Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_03

That's pretty good BC and all the speed. Yep.

SPEAKER_05

I don't know, man. It just works for me. I don't I don't know why, but you know, I I've tried the 2547, I've tried six dasher. I still have a six-dasher I shoot occasionally, but uh I don't know that that six creed Josh, you and I have talked about that in the past. Um, you know, just a little bit more energy at 800 plus to see what's going on, you know, you can see your impacts better. Um, I think the the trajectory of that bullet staying closer to the center of your line of sight, you know, I catch trace a little easier. Um, it is tough to catch inside 400 yards, but um I don't seem to have a whole lot of trouble with that. I can I can see what's going on. So works well for me.

SPEAKER_04

So that's the second guy can that's uh the speed that helps with seeing trace because a max order is lower. I I believe it.

SPEAKER_02

I mean what I think what I I think we just need to go ahead and just start the the trend. Everybody needs to start going faster again. We need we're gonna go back.

SPEAKER_03

As a match director, you don't want that. That's so abusive on your steel. You don't want you don't want Ryan back saying your matchups. It's the MDs that started the trend to go slow. Yep, exactly. Hey, try try turning your camera off. Um, like if you just select that button, maybe we'll have perfect audio and not fight the uh video coming through. What's your what's your dope at 400, Ryan? Uh it's 1.4. Okay. So most other rifles are probably between 1.7 and 2, you know? Does that make sense? 2 would be like a 2600 653.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I think my dad would have Josh. 2800, it's probably like a 1-8 at 400. 1-8. Yeah, I'd say it's 1-7 or 1-8 for me.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. So you're four tenths less. Yeah. Four tenths less at 400. Um I mean, that's pretty significant, honestly. 25-30% less. Yeah. You probably are seeing it.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, it's it's really easy to see that like six to six, seven hundred yards, even five hundred yards, it's like really easy to see. I mean, you don't even have to try to see the see the trace. It's it's pretty much convenient.

SPEAKER_03

I wonder if there's more I obviously there's more trace with a bigger bullet, right? Like I think, you know, seeing the 135s or the the 153s, like I you know, you know when you're spotting a guy that's shooting one of those or 308, right? Like you just see you just see uh golf ball flying through the golf ball. Exactly. I wonder if speed's also a factor that it's easier to see trace when the bullet is ripping through, you know?

SPEAKER_02

I don't know. Yeah question. I don't know. Maybe it is for him. Yeah, well, yeah. Clearly it works for Ryan. It's freaking some darn good shooting.

SPEAKER_06

Mm-hmm. Thanks, man. Heck yeah, Ryan.

SPEAKER_03

What's uh what do you got coming up?

SPEAKER_05

Um, so my next match I think is gonna be well, it's I'm signed up for Pig River, so I'll be there. And then um we're talking about either sack sizzler or uh uh sheepdog, and then potentially going down to Twisted Barrel. Um I got a lot going on at home. My father-in-law's having health issues, so I'm hesitant to book anything really far out, you know, like far out, you know, in the future and far out as far as travel either. Um I ended up canceling my trip to Magnolia at the last minute in April there. So um things are kind of up in the air for me right now.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, sorry to hear that, man. Um, and I know we had you and I had a similar conversation of this last summer, um, you know, with with stuff at home. And you know, you're like, man, I don't know how much I'm really gonna get out and shoot. And I remember talking to you, and then like, ah, I slipped away for a match, and then you went on a winning streak with all the chaos and everything that's happening at home. Um, and it sounds like so the chips are falling uh the same as last year, then, huh?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, hopefully.

SPEAKER_03

Hopefully.

SPEAKER_05

I won Vortex last year, and then I went and won Pig River Ham, too. So hopefully I can do that again this year. That'd be awesome.

SPEAKER_03

That's what we're looking at your profile right now on the PRS site. That that would be kind of a wild stat, right? Two back-to-back wins, back-to-back years.

SPEAKER_02

That would be pretty cool. That would be.

SPEAKER_03

I'm gonna try my best. You know, I don't usually I'm sure you will, yeah. I I uh I usually don't put myself first for our snake draft. But I'm going to uh I'm gonna go first during uh for the Pig River match. Um I am gonna call Ryan ahead of time though, make sure he's gonna be there. Heck yeah. Heck yeah. Man, well, good luck at home. Hopefully everything everything works out for the better there, man. Um sorry, uh internet today kind of kind of was a little bit shaky, but uh it's good to hear from you and congrats on the win, Ryan.

SPEAKER_05

Hey, thanks, Ken. I appreciate you having me on.

SPEAKER_03

Heck yeah. Heck yeah. Hopefully, uh hopefully we'll have you on soon again and we'll do a little bit of internet testing prior to that next time. Yeah. All good, man.

SPEAKER_05

So you'll be at the curver then? Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Ah, I want to. We have a baseball tournament that weekend. Oh, okay. June 6th, 7th, or whatever. Yeah, I wish, man. I talk to Josh Bandy every year, and I it's one of those that I I really enjoy. I really enjoy Josh, and I'd I'd love to I'd love to be out there and support him, even if it's just riding around with the side and side by side with him. But um, yeah, until until we don't have any baseball going on, I'm pretty much pretty much nailed down this time of year.

SPEAKER_05

So gotcha.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Life is always busy. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, you know it, dude. Yep. Yeah. You know it. Cool.

unknown

All right.

SPEAKER_03

Well, thanks for watching. Thanks, Brian. Thank you very much. Good work, Brian. Good job, man. Thanks, fellas. Talk to you later. Name somebody more cowboy.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, man. In the PRS.

SPEAKER_03

In the PRS, right?

SPEAKER_02

I got nothing.

SPEAKER_03

Organ's pretty close. I mean, he's he's Oklahoma. Looks like a cowboy, but I don't think he's cowboy. He's got a cowboy. He has to remain to him. He does. You know, Chase Glenn would be a close second.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

We're talking cowboys. He's by he's by you boy, though.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, Morgan is a boy.

SPEAKER_02

Chase Glenn. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

He's like. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

He's from Louisiana, right?

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I think that's where he lives now, but I think he's from Oklahoma. He he's uh yeah, he is.

SPEAKER_00

He's from Oklahoma. His parents live in Oklahoma.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. Yep. And who equally looks as good as you with a cowboy hat on and somebody I would fuck with if yeah, I I'm giving you space when or holding the door for you at the store. You know what I mean? Yes, sir. I'm live. Oh come on. Maybe that's why I'm holding the door for you. Assistance. I need assistance. Yep. Morgan, can I can I tell a story about the first time I met you? Sure. And and it's actually was that Punisher Positional. Um one of those years that it was hotter than hell. And uh I'd come down early, had my rifle and all that zero, and decided and ready to go. I came out with the Bart Line guys. And Beamer, you said, Hey, do you mind running the side stage on Friday? I'm like, sure. Yeah, what are we doing? And it was like, well, we have a full-size zip sick at 650 yards. Remember this? Yeah. Oh yeah. Morgan, you remember this?

SPEAKER_00

I remember so you cut out for a second, but you had a full-size zip six. Was this that little uh like I'm guessing it was like nine, nine uh position stage or something like that? That was a side stage.

SPEAKER_02

I think it I think it was 14 position. I think it was a lot. Yeah.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

It was like it was like every position that we had on the on that side of the range. Yeah. You have to run and take a single shot per position. I was like, this is easy. It was like a 150-yard dash.

SPEAKER_03

So Morgan, I had never met you before. And you know, up walks this cowboy wearing jeans. I'm sweating my balls off in like gym shorts. And you come up wearing jeans, I'm like, wow, like this guy's cowboy, he's got the duck buckle on. You're like, tell me what we're doing. Well, it's$20. And you basically start on this prop and work your way down. Do you remember what the first prop was? Wasn't it uh wasn't it that machine gun thing? No, it was a tank trap. Oh nice. You walked up, yeah, dude. So you walk up, pay you 20 bucks, we explain it, and like, all right, time starts now, and you run out to the tank trap, set your rifle down, send one shot into the dirt. Yep, open your bolt, pull your mag out, come back, 21 hours. Yep. This is a true story. I think you ran it pretty well. Uh it's Troy Livesy, I think, that won that shot that quick. Yep. That sounds right. Yep. But Troy wasn't in Oklahoma this weekend, so you you you let them all have it there, huh? How'd it go?

SPEAKER_00

I guess it was good. It was pretty good. Uh the wind showed up on day two. I just kind of clawed my way through day one. I don't know. It wasn't that that bad on day one. The wind was just easy. So it was just, I don't know. It was a little meatbally. And so on day one. So I think I was I dropped two points and me and um oh heck. Now I'm in trouble. Bushman. No, it wasn't Bushman. It wasn't Bushman. It was uh Reagan. Gosh dang it. How do I the young kid? Anyways, he's like 17. Reagan Summer. And he was tied. We were tied after day one. This is terrible. I can't remember people's names. Gets me into trouble all the time. But we were tied with two down, and then um, yeah, Bushwin wasn't too far behind. I think he was like down six or something like that. And but then I looked at the forecast and saw it was supposed to blow. And Bushwin was not really like because he for some reason was shooting as Kyle McCormick, so everybody thought, oh, it's just Kyle McCormick in like eighth place. And not that Kyle can't shoot, but uh when the wind shows up, Austin's dangerous. So um the two of us kind of pulled ahead. Kind of. Yep. He just was able to climb some spots and tie second, and then I just didn't drop very many shots.

SPEAKER_03

No, you didn't. You gapped ended up gapping him. Uh you had four on Bushman. Man, you shot shot really well. What uh so how how much wind was out there? Like what what did it end up blowing?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, it was like towards depend on when you what time. Most of the time it was under 20. So like I think towards the end of the day, it would it would be like 15 on on your uh Kestrel, but a lot of times you were still only holding for 12, depending on where he was at. There were times that it got up to 20. Um when I shot the uh tower, I think it was blowing 16 or 17. I think when Bushman shot the tower and clean, I got a nine, Bushman shot the tower, which is a trip line out to almost I think it's thousand fifty or something like that.

SPEAKER_03

It seem it seems like you're shooting all the way to those wind windmills, doesn't it?

SPEAKER_00

You cut out there, but I'm assuming you're saying something about it being a ways.

SPEAKER_03

Well, all the way to the windmills, it seems like, you know? You shoot way, way out towards the windmill, whatever. Yep.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, so we had Beck on, who ran a six Creed this weekend. I assume you ran your trusty six five Creed more.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Oh yeah. Yeah. I haven't run much of anything else for, I don't know, past two or three years. Just I don't know. I like it. Are you still?

SPEAKER_04

Everything seems to what's that? Are you still running 156s?

SPEAKER_00

Well, either that or 153 and a halfs, honestly. I I'll point some 156s. Um, I ran those for a long time, and then this weekend they were 153 and a halves. Just the BC is the same if you point the 156s or if you just shoot 153 and a halves. Yeah. The load's the same. They shoot a bone identical. So it don't matter.

SPEAKER_03

I see you got a bunch of reloading stuff there in the background. So you you're reloading your ammo now, right? No. No, you're still not.

SPEAKER_00

No. I mean, I can reload. I just usually don't unless I get in a bind or something.

SPEAKER_03

Sure. Sure. You uh won a golden bolt last year not reloading, right? Yep. That's correct. That's awesome. So that's awesome.

SPEAKER_04

You're saying 2670, right? Uh-huh. Yeah. I usually shoot for somewhere around there. So it's a 400 foot per second difference in the two winners this weekend. Between Ryan, Ryan with a six creed. Sixth creed 109's a 3080.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

That's uh that's cooking.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Have you tried shooting fast? I mean, you did you back in the day?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, like I did, and then I don't know. I I just don't think that it's I get the appeal, right? Like it's the same appeal that I've got. One, you either like are trying to fight to get the gun to stop before the bullet hits, and the other one, you're doing the same thing. Yeah. But you just gotta do it faster. And I just Yeah, yeah. For me, I feel like it's so much easier. You've got so much more that that hits when you get there. And when the conditions are like wet, you know, muggy or miragey and soupy, you just it's hard to hide a 150 class bullet. And then now if you're shooting a 109 at light speed, well, you already got the opposite deal. It's I don't know. I always feel like I feel like a 6'5 Creed, like when you talk about like it's bread and butter, like when where is it the best? You know, it's about a 400 or 5 between 400 and 1,000, it's really, really good. Hard to beat. Hadasher, you know, you're like 300 to 700 to 800. Probably three to eight hundred. And then when you as soon as you go from uh to that to a six creed at light speed, yeah, you get a little forgiveness, but it really doesn't change your uh that sweet spot in the at the back end, it just extends your front end out to like four or five hundred yards. I don't know. If that makes any sense.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it does. What's the what's hit so fast? What's your dope at 400?

SPEAKER_00

Uh two. 192. Yeah. Yeah. His was 1-4. Yeah, right.

SPEAKER_03

It's crazy. It's crazy to me. See, Josh, Josh didn't even like he probably can hear us, so we're going to talk shit about him. Right. Oh, man. Yeah, what a tale of two different uh two different matches here. So, yeah, I mean two mils to 400.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, both really high hit percentage uh for the winners of, which is which is funny. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Somebody did did somebody clean day one over there?

SPEAKER_03

Chad Heckler. Yeah. It was Dasher. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So what happened on day two? Because I mean I heard anybody know?

SPEAKER_03

I didn't get a call in, but I didn't know. So Josh was at the match and kind of sounded similar to what um what you guys had in Oklahoma, but wind showed up on Sunday. Um and then there was uh it it was a little bit of a headwind. So it you know it was blown back left and right. Um let's let's take a look here. I'll bring I'll bring that back up. But um Chad, I think Chad was still top twenty.

SPEAKER_06

Um Bri didn't even drop that many, I'm guessing.

SPEAKER_03

Where did he go here? Yeah, he was 11th. Um they dropped 17 on day two. Oh, okay. Yeah. Yep. See, he would be another good one to pull on for this week just to be like, what the fuck?

SPEAKER_00

I don't think he would I don't think he would enjoy that conversation that much.

SPEAKER_03

Probably not, honestly.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I I think if he's anything like me, he would he would avoid that like the plague.

SPEAKER_03

Oh man. So what uh what other matches are you gonna surprise people with? Because you weren't signed up for this and you weren't part of any of the pick-'ums or anything. And I think we're gonna be for those of us that do picks, I think are gonna be battling this all year.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you've you've you've done this to at least at least twice now this year.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Well, so what happened with this time was I texted Justin like two months ago, maybe, to get in. And he's like, Oh yeah, no problem, because I had a sponsored slot, so that's why I just texted him. He said, I'll put you in. And then and then this week, this week, uh I go look on there and I'm I'm not on the list. And I went, Well, shoot. So I just texted him and said, Hey, you didn't happen to put me in, did you? And he goes, I will right now.

SPEAKER_01

And that was a day before I left.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. So anyway, this this is tracking. Yeah.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

This sound this sounds like a Justin Watts uh uh So I mean most of the time it's all on me though. This one was a combo move.

SPEAKER_02

Combo move. Yeah, yeah. Well are you are you showing up to uh to Cole Canyon or Punisher? Do I need to pencil you in? Just let me know.

SPEAKER_00

Well, yeah, I'm I even signed up for Cole Canyon. Are you? Did we know? Did we? I'm not 100% sure I believe you. Oh, let's Well, now you're making me question it, but I swear on my impact thing, it's what it's the one match I'm signed up for. It's super sold out, so let me see.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah, you're there. There you're there. Perfect.

SPEAKER_00

Sure enough.

SPEAKER_02

Shooting suppressed.

SPEAKER_00

Now the other one, what's the other one? Punisher. Yeah, I was planning on that one too. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I got I got room for you in Punisher, but bring the$20 fire in.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Well. Hey, you should you should run that same side stage again. I should.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I should.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, why not?

SPEAKER_03

Bring it back.

SPEAKER_00

I thought I'll bring some money. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

That was funny.

SPEAKER_00

I love those stupid things.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, heck yeah. Yeah. Yeah, a little uh cash side pot. Yeah, we probably should. I haven't done one in a while.

SPEAKER_00

It's been a while since some somebody's had one in a match.

SPEAKER_02

All right. Well, he you heard it here, folks. Heard it here first, folks. Sign up for the Punisher.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, Punisher comes with a cash pot side stage. Yep.$20 buy-in, and you should limit it to 12, 12 rounds. I probably just position side stage.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Pass his time. We'll do 50%. Might do I usually do 40 bucks on a side stage so I can give some money to ROs, but we'll do we'll do 50, uh 50% to the winner, 50% to the uh RO. There you go. There you go. My money's on Morgan.

SPEAKER_06

I mean, I'll try.

SPEAKER_02

I'm gonna see who's signed up. I'm gonna start soliciting all the get Rudisil there, get Francis there.

SPEAKER_00

There's some fast guys out there.

SPEAKER_02

Francis. This one you need to be able to sprint.

SPEAKER_03

What um let's take a look here, Morgan. Um your what uh 4936 for the Piero skill stage last weekend. What uh configuration was that? Big small next to each other?

SPEAKER_00

No, it was uh near far.

SPEAKER_02

Near far? Okay, that's cooking for the near far. Yeah, 43 won it. 43. Um, now I'm gonna say is yes, it was that.

SPEAKER_00

And then the other thing with it, uh yeah, Dylan Lapone won it, and Bushman was also a 43. Um Bushman was like I because I saw Bushman was 43, so I was like, oh okay, well, I'll just go like medium. And then um, and then and then I when the guy said he goes 49, whatever, and I said I said 59, and he's like, no, 49. And I went, oh, okay. Well could have stepped on it. I I guess I wasn't going that medium. Yeah, that's and anyway, but it was it was kind of like it was big, small, but and I don't know, I don't I don't feel like those targets were regulation. But like they was a little plus sized, but I don't know. Who would do that, Beamer?

SPEAKER_02

Who would do that? Who I'll we'll just go ahead and throw Watts under the bus. Because when I was when I was writing his matchbook for him, he said engage targets near to far on this stupid rhetorical barricade. I was like, I'm gonna go ahead and edit that out of there, but now I'm putting them on blast anyway.

SPEAKER_00

So Yeah, well you know it was fun, also funny about I shouldn't even say, but it was also funny about the barricade was the barricade was well, I don't know. They people allege that it could have been out of spec.

SPEAKER_03

Out of spec. Was it was it built for people of shorter stature or what?

SPEAKER_00

No, no, other stature. Oh I was on my little tippy toes. I mean, yeah, listen, it was fine. It didn't matter.

SPEAKER_03

It did. Well, I mean, yeah. 49.

SPEAKER_00

It really didn't it didn't affect me, but but they were like, make sure that it it's you're tall enough or okay. And I'm like, thanks, guys. It was it was only like an inch or two above the spec, but uh yeah, they were really mean and was like, just put your gun up there, make sure you can see over top of it, like okay, little guy. I wouldn't take that.

SPEAKER_02

You know, if I were you, I I would have whooped all their butts and won the match for that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, right? Maybe that's what it was.

SPEAKER_03

Justin, just throw some dirt around the damn thing, right? Like two yards of dirt, and it probably is regulation again, you know.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah, no, that was the all that's all that would happen is that I'm pretty sure the wind blew or something, and it just dug a hole in there. Because you can see the concrete on that right side, and so it was just it just needs he just needs to push some dirt back there and it's regulation again. Yeah, maybe it was literal it was just somebody, I think earlier on in the day must have said something because yeah, it was fine.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, maybe I'll start carrying a tape measure in my pack. I used to. I used to all the time. Oh, for probably set in bipod length and height and or tack table heights and all that. Yep. Yeah, okay. Okay. I don't anymore, but hey, I remember another good story that would be good for the the show here. Uh you told me uh last year. Didn't you win Silent Night last year?

SPEAKER_00

The year before.

SPEAKER_03

Was it already the year before?

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Maybe. Or maybe it was last year. Nope, nope, nope. I don't think I went last year. I think I I missed it for some reason. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Um nighttime. I think was it your last stage that you had a you had a malfunction that you had to fix in the dark?

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah, oh yeah, definitely did that. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Can you run us through what that stage was? And this is at Silent Ice Adjustments, so it's semi-apical we're talking about. But I think it's a great story. I've I've repeated it a couple times.

SPEAKER_00

So you're I think it was more than one malfunction. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Well, I mean, you're talking about disassembling your rifle in the dark on the clock.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah, I mean, I didn't I didn't have much of a choice. Um it happened a couple times. So in fact, I didn't I could never figure out what was going on with that gun. It took a while. So that that action had I don't know how many thousand rounds on it. And what ended up being the problem was I didn't know, I had no idea what it was. But at the time I thought I was pressuring out, which there was no reason to. Um, but that's what I thought. And so I was back there, I had a drill and a brush, and just kept buzzing the the uh throat, thinking that I had a carbon ring coming on because we had a suppressor on and all that, so I'm like, whatever. And I'm just like running the drill in and out of the throat between stages. Um because I was like, well, I'm gonna I'm gonna keep the pressure down. And it did help some because I kept popping the shit out of primers. I mean, just a primer, like I would I would go and then I'd pop some. And anyway, um it my bolt was like having an well, I kept propping primers so then crap would get into the deal. Well, I always pack two bolts with me. Um I always have one, and then so as soon as I pop one primer, I stuck the bolt in my back pocket and then it kept going on with the day, right? And uh and I can't remember well, I do remember this. So I'm I'm going along and I'm I'm shooting and then I get off and primers, you guys are like, you got you got a lot of pop primers, man. Like you must be getting pressure, and you could feel the dimple in the back. Well I'm so I'm scared. I'm like, this is this could this could happen. This the wheels can come off this bus any moment.

SPEAKER_06

And you're with the windows. And on the wind. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. Yeah. I was I think I dropped one. Um I think I would clean day one and then drop one on day two somewhere in there. Well, I I'm sitting here going along, and like I said, I'm worried about it falling off, so I put the bolt in my pocket, and on the last stage, one of those little primers, I pull the trigger and uh it busted, and the piece got back in there and it locked my firing pin mechanism back. And I pull the trigger and I'm like, uh, so I run the bolt. I feel like, oh I'm I don't I'm like, man, I'm pretty sure I don't have no more spring that's resisting my bolts. So I reach up and I can feel the uh I feel my um my firing pin mechanism, I can feel it's loose, so I know that it's not right. And this is your final stage. So I pull it out. Oh yeah, this is the final stage of the match. It it's on the KYL out of my helicopter in the dark, no lights. And I so because I turned my headlight off because I'm like, because if I have my headlight on, I can't you can't see anything through your scope. So it's pitch black. So I yanked the bolt out of this thing, and I'm pretty sure I just whacked it on the helicopter because I wanted to use the same, I I wanted to use the same bolt. Um and so I pulled the bolt out, whack it on the deal, reset the firing pin, throw it back in the gun, and finish the stage. All in the dark. Oh yeah, that's no big deal. I mean, it's not the first time I jerked a bolt out of a gun before.

SPEAKER_03

That's wild to me.

SPEAKER_00

Actually, it's not the first time I've done a tactical bolt change before. Tactical bolt change. I've done a few of those. Like I yanked that thing out, and I remember one time we I was at it was at um the second NRL finale that I won, and uh it was somewhere in there. Obviously, it was light at this time.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And at the and it was actual pressure then. This time it was actually that bolt face had worn out and the firing pin hole, the hole where my firing pin came out of, it had it had ovaled out. And so it was allowing the primer to flow back into that hole. Yeah. And I could never and then and then from the from popping them from doing that, it had just opened it a little bit more.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And more and more and more. It's not a big deal. It just wore out the bolt. It's all that happened. From you know, probably a hundred thousand rounds or I don't know how many rounds. Probably maybe not that many. I don't know, but at least 30 or 40. A lot. A lot. Yeah, a lot. That's the oldest one I had. Anyway, this one over here, and maybe it was the same action, so maybe it was maybe it was uh related. I have no idea. But uh I'm like shooting that stage and same deal. My actually might it that time my trigger, it didn't lock up, but it did something, and it was a little dusty, so I just yanked the bolt. I felt another thing come on, so I just threw the next bolt in and pulled trigger and finished the stage.

SPEAKER_02

I feel like that had that whole situation had to look like you're roping a calf or something. Surprise you throw up in the air.

SPEAKER_00

Did you just change bolts? I'm like, yeah, that happened.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

They're like, how did you know? I'm like, I don't know. I just kind of knew it was coming, so I just put a bolt in my pocket just in case.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Yeah, that's that's wild to me. I I I think, I mean, if I'm in that mode, I'm I'll like like, oh, yep, this stage is over, you know. And you just I don't I'd probably I don't want to say give up, but like, you know, I'm not gonna run back to my pack and grab another 737 bolt and run up, you know. But well, it doesn't pay you, even in the dark. That's the crazy part.

SPEAKER_02

I don't think he was running a 737 at the time. Well. Well, there's uh this is there. But he is.

SPEAKER_00

Those things are but what I was running was pretty another.

SPEAKER_02

I tease, I tease, I tease. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Because uh like I haven't I have seen the tactical bolt change in a 737. Let's just say, I'm sure. No, yeah. Anything anything mechanical can be. It was never the action's fault.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Anything mechanical can break. Yeah. Yep. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And I don't think it like on those deals, like a lot of times, like for me, you know, that face, bolt face gets a little ovaled from a lot of use. I mean, shoot, I should have changed that thing out a long time before. And I never would have thought it was coming on. So uh, you know, it that could have happened to anything. Um it wasn't it's not the gear. Most of the time it's the Indian, not the arrow.

SPEAKER_03

Yep. Man, I I'll tell you what, I I have a couple newer impact actions, you know, that are over serial number 10,000, 12,000, something like that. But I have I have a serial number that's like 230 or something like that. And that action is so smooth. Like, you know, if I was in that same boat, I'd be like, no, I'm running the old action. Like they feel so good. When they come out of the box, it's like, man, just sit on the couch and run that thing back and forth for a few days, you know, until it till it kind of beats it in. Yeah. Or I really want to get that in Oklahoma. Yeah. I mean, the the races or the the lugs on that thing are probably perfect. You know, like they're round and smoothed out where all where they need to be, you know. It's amazing.

SPEAKER_00

I if you take a little I take a little diamond uh little polishing deal to like the right where those bevels are that go into down into the um on the on the bolt or in the action?

SPEAKER_03

No, in the bolt. Okay. So I'll focus. There we go. This is a magnum, but yep.

SPEAKER_00

So it'll be on the back side. And that'll be on on so it'll be on your on your top um left side of the back of it. So if you're looking at it from the back, the top left will have a little bevel there.

SPEAKER_06

Yep.

unknown

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

And then the bottom, the bottom right will have a little bevel there. And if you take um, now it it's beveled, but if you take just a little bit of some and polish that a little bit and make it rounded just each ever so slightly, when it drops into that, um, what is that? Your uh I don't know, that angle that drops you into the into the lugs to where they're man, it'll make them smooth. And then sometimes that's obviously you gotta polish the race way out, right? When you but from just running it, and that just happens over time.

SPEAKER_03

So yours are obviously lefty. So you you do the what it'd be the top, top right, top right. Top right, bottom left, yep. And this on a on a righty, it's a uh top left, bottom right.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_03

And it doesn't take much of anything, but you just kind of just barely just kind of I don't know if you'd be able to see that in there, but it's basically you're talking about where those where the ramps are.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, the uh for the what I can't remember. I can't remember what it is. It's like the um the engagement ramp or whatever. Yeah. That just helps you to just primary is it the we have your primary extraction that's the exact opposite of it. And then um yeah, anyway, that that does that, and then the other thing that makes them smooth is t is to take the caulking piece and time your sear fall to where when you the only thing you feel is that when when it rocks off the detent. And then so then the sears are just like engaged. There's no like it doesn't, it's not like when you pull pull off the detent, then you have to push the sear back a little bit. You'll feel that when you have a trigger and you'll feel it come off the detent, and then there's another little um hitch as you're going down. If you take that sear and you actually you stay in the same angle as it, but you move it back a little bit until all of a sudden you'll feel the detent, and then you'll feel nothing else after that. You'll just it there'll be no extra add to it.

SPEAKER_03

I I have to put out a disclaimer. Like, um don't try this at home. Take it to a qualified gunsmith.

SPEAKER_00

Do that, do that with a mill if you're gonna do that. That one's with a mill. Yeah. I've only done that by hand once. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, you had me intrigued. You had me intrigued for sure.

SPEAKER_00

No, like so. The boys at Lone Peak would actually do that for me.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

We would actually put them in it, we'd put them in a mill and we would do that.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. Yep. Basically, you just you're taking that angle back just a just a touch.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and you when you time your sear fall, like most like a lot of the old school good gunsmiths would time the sear fall.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

And it and it made it made an action just well, because you had zero, you didn't have to compress that spring anymore as you as you went down, right? It literally just went off the detent, and now all of a sudden there's no, you didn't have to compress it from there. They call it cock on close. There was no cock-on-close.

SPEAKER_03

No, I'm intrigued. All right. So everybody go with Morgan's permission. Next time you see him at a match, ask to close this bolt. Yep. Dang, okay. Okay. Man, there's some pearls you're giving out tonight, man. I love that. Thank you. Pearl snaps. I don't have no secrets. Just shoot better, right? Yeah. Yeah. Man. Awesome. So a couple coup a couple matches coming up. Uh you're gonna drop into uh Beamers Hosting. Um yeah, what's uh what's some of the qualifiers you shooting? Do you know? Or do you just kinda wait until the end of the year and and see what what's available?

SPEAKER_00

I have no idea most of the time what's gonna happen. But uh I'll try to go to Hornady.

SPEAKER_02

Yep, that's qualifier.

SPEAKER_00

Which ones are qualifiers?

SPEAKER_02

Hornady's a qualifier. I got the list of it. Cole Canyon and Punisher are both qualifiers this year.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, look at that. I'm shooting three of them coming up then.

SPEAKER_02

Well, uh, it's gonna be hard to pick against you then. Yeah. Better get a hundred out of one of them. Yep.

SPEAKER_00

I think the odds are is if I shoot three of them, I think I'll get at least one of them.

SPEAKER_03

Pretty good odds. Pretty good odds. Pretty good odds. Yeah. How many rounds on your current rifle?

SPEAKER_00

Uh this is I I think we're still under a thousand on this. This is the finale rifle. No shit.

SPEAKER_03

This is one of us this is one of us at SHOT Show too.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. Cause well, so when it went to SHOT Show, I started shooting a different gun and it ain't doing it. Didn't you?

SPEAKER_03

You won a re you won a regional match with that too, didn't you? Which one? The new one? The different gun?

SPEAKER_00

The different gun? Yeah, I think you did. But it wasn't like I don't know. But then I also I think I lost one too, so Okay. And then it I don't know. There's something about it.

SPEAKER_02

It just doesn't driving with that horse.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, well, it shoots good sometimes, and then it would like it felt like I had to clean it more than I needed to, and it's done. I retired it early. Okay. Okay. Yeah. So now I'm down to one gun again. I love it. This one. I was trying to save it, but uh I guess it just is what it is. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

How many uh how many wins you got this year so far? Uh no. Just as the first one. This is it. This is the first time he's been on a show. Wow, by golly. Yeah. Yep. Yep. I know. Start of a trend. Subur. Yeah, hopefully. Are you gonna wear something? I get tired of losing and then uh get mad. You shoot better when you're mad too, don't you? Are we gonna I do. I I I like shooting mad. Yeah. Are we gonna are you gonna wear a different uh cowboy hat for each interview? Or are we gonna keep the same one? I mean I can. I figured you could. I think when when you get hit 300, it needs to be a black cowboy hat because you'll be fully in your bad cow. Black. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, I wear a lot of I mean, I got a black cowboy hat. Listen, if you're gonna have a cowboy hat, you always your first one needs to be black. That's the first one. You can branch out from there.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Alright. I don't own one, so I'm gonna have to come down. Have you get me one?

SPEAKER_00

It's easy. I I know the get in place. The get in place.

SPEAKER_03

If I get a cowboy hat at some point, I'm I'm doing with Morgan.

SPEAKER_02

We're gonna record it. When Morgan hits 300, we all all of us have to be in a cowboy hat for the interview. I'll make it happen quick then.

SPEAKER_03

Yep. Yep. It sounds like you're gonna get a qualify here pretty quick. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. No, you know what? That sounds great. Now I got a reason to do it. Y'all be in cowboy hats.

SPEAKER_02

Let's do it.

SPEAKER_01

Oh man.

SPEAKER_02

Mine's gonna look so stupid.

SPEAKER_01

No, no. We won't make it, we won't let it look stupid. Are you kidding me? Well, if I have to buy it myself, it will. Nah. Nah, nah. We make it look good.

SPEAKER_00

Because you don't you like it's hats? It's like that one thing you can wear anywhere.

SPEAKER_01

They'll get expensive, don't they?

SPEAKER_00

Well, I mean, they're not cheap, but nothing good's cheap.

SPEAKER_03

You're right. That's true. You're right about that. That's true. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

They're just like, I mean, you don't have to get like these are these are 100x, so they're 100, 100% beaver. You don't have to get 100% beaver. You can get something, but they got some European hair in there. Man, I like pretty good.

SPEAKER_02

I like beaver though.

SPEAKER_00

Listen, sorry. Why do you think that's what I got? 100%. I don't want none of that fake stuff.

SPEAKER_03

Beaver. Beaver.

SPEAKER_02

If I would have asked you 30 seconds ago what a cowboy hat was made out of, would you have said beaver? I would not have thought beaver, no. Uh leather. Neither one of you guys? No. No.

SPEAKER_00

You didn't know that. Didn't know that. I I'm shoot. Why do you think they've been trapping these things for so many years? Because look at these things. I mean, shoot, who wouldn't want one?

SPEAKER_02

I mean, you're selling beavers right now.

SPEAKER_03

Now you say it, it's all making sense. A hundred percent. I mean, what do they do with coyote pelts? They don't make hats out of them. Well, I no, they probably do make this not cowboy hats. No. Yeah?

SPEAKER_00

Beaver.

SPEAKER_03

Beaver. I feel like I gotta get a Wisconsin beaver hat, you know? I think so.

SPEAKER_00

Cheat, they probably trap these furs in Wisconsin. Who knows?

SPEAKER_03

They yeah, I I know guys that trap up here and do them. Dang. Well, see? Yeah. We're learning today. Today, this is a good episode for us. Yeah, you're making us smarter here. Morgan, you should come on the show a little more often too. Would you would you mind being a guest host once in a while and harassing guys like Bushman and Orgain?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I love doing that. That's like one of my favorite pastimes.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, well, I we're gonna have you do it then. Yeah, we're gonna do that. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Harassment. That's one of my favorite things to do.

SPEAKER_02

I love it. I love it. Cool. Yeah. Yeah. Tonight would have been a good one to harass Bushman for taking second place behind you. Yep. In a in his home state.

SPEAKER_00

He came into his house and took a but all of his buddies didn't show up. Shoot, they they're all boycotting.

SPEAKER_03

Uh they do do that at Justin's, don't they? They do.

SPEAKER_00

They're all buddies, and then and then Justin's like, Well, I'm an entrepreneur, so I'm gonna put on a match for the masses. And they say, Well, you guys can you can do it by yourself.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, they do say that. I think I was at the last one that Clay and Austin were at, and I and Clay and Austin were gained, and then Bushman ended up winning that match. Um, I I wouldn't I I get I get the point they're making, but if I got a match within two hours, like, yeah, yeah, I'm obligated to go. Like, you know, there's no way I'm not.

SPEAKER_00

I said this a long time ago. There was some matches in Utah. I don't know um they were in the NRL. Yeah. It was in the NRL. Do you remember Dog Valley?

SPEAKER_03

I don't remember Dog Valley.

SPEAKER_00

Did you ever shoot that match or see anything? Well, Dog Valley, the guy would do some janky stuff every now and again. Like he would he would put he would put you on a piece of foam in a water and trough or something. Well, guess what? People started boycotting that thing or be like, I can't believe we're gonna enter it. And I'm I'm like, man, listen, if somebody's gonna put on a match and it's it's drivable and I can make it, I don't have the self-control to stay out. Like if he's putting it on, I'm going. Somebody's gotta win it. So may as well be me.

SPEAKER_03

There you go. How many did you win of those? Quite a few.

SPEAKER_00

I I didn't win one of those. That was be that was before.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

But but I I did, I think my last time, I think I was third at it. That was kind of that was 2019. That's when I so I won my first PRS match in 2019. That was just the that was the beginning. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I remember you coming to the Barrel Maker the year uh Pinch won it. I think you were.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that was 2019. Yep, that was it.

SPEAKER_03

Was that? Yeah, it could have been that year. Uh that was a lot of fun. And that was one of the few matches, like uh you know, we had the banquet at that uh I don't know, I don't know what you call it, community center or whatever. And like at the end of the night, like there was still a lot of people just hanging out. I remember it was you and Allwine and Pinch and and I don't know, maybe 15 other guys, and we're just sitting around hanging out on a Sunday night. Like, man, this never happens at a match, you know?

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah. So that was a blast. It was a cool one. You know, that was that was 2020, because you're right, Allwine was there, everybody was there, so yeah, it had to be 2020.

SPEAKER_02

I think it was COVID, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. But it's fun though, like and it seemed like I mean, almost all these other Pro Series matches we go to, like, man, the prize table walk isn't even done, and like there's nobody there. You know, like they hit the road as fast as they can't. So it's kinda it's kind of fun if you get people to hang out. Kind of like pro series finale, right? Like people hang out and you know, converse, you know, and everybody leaves the next day.

SPEAKER_00

So no, it's it's cool. It's crazy how how uh much of a community this this uh sport is. Like I went over to New Zealand and and just like going over there and seeing a bunch of guys and seeing ones that I I knew or like I mean I didn't know Anthony Cawley very very well um before that. But I and I we'd met before, talked, you know, maybe said hi or whatever. Yep. Um, but then as soon as I get over there and we shoot the match together, shooting the same squad. So it was me and Fraser McKenzie. Yeah. Frazier too. Frase Fraser's who got uh me and Will and my dad over there, and dude, he was a great host. Like and just set everything up. It was a it was wild. That's awesome. It's like one of the things where you don't really know what you to expect to. Like you're like, I'm going over there, we're gonna hunt kind of like with buddies. Yeah. And so you're like, you know, do you don't know where to set your expectation? Do you expect you set it like way up here, or do you set it like in the middle of the road? Like, you know, he's like, he's like, it's gonna be a blast. So I believe that, but then you don't know what, you know. And uh so we shoot the match, and then we had a good time. Like collie beat me by a point.

SPEAKER_06

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Not bitter about that. But and then uh he hung around and we were gonna stay. Lloyd, who owns the ranch, just said, you know, stay on the place or whatever, uh, and I'll call. I said, What about a helicopter? Do we need one? He says, Well, I can call a neighbor and get one. So he he uh gets a helicopter for us just to get the all the animals out that we did that we were shooting. Oh, wow. So he dropped us off up in the top and then we shot and went and hunted, and then he came back and met us at night and got stuff. Anyway, and Collie just is like, you know, you talk about staying and hanging out after the end. He's he's like, uh, you're going hunting tomorrow? And we're like, Yeah, you wanna stay? And he's like, Oh, yep. That's awesome. So he hangs out, helps us kill some animals. We killed like that day, I think we killed four or five uh stags. I killed a chamois. I couldn't get no closer. I was sitting there, and uh, I'm like, there's a chamois. And first of all, we start the day off. Collie says, look, there is some chamois around here because there's these big rocks and we're high up in there. And chamois are these little antelope species that are about maybe three, three and a half foot tall. Maybe three and a half foot tall. Okay. But they're tough. They're little little buggers, like come up to your shoulders or so. No, no, no. They come up to your mid-thigh. All right.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I guess you're your shoulders. I was whatever. I could see over the barricade, okay.

SPEAKER_03

Where I alright. I I Googled this here. Uh images.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

How tall are they? I'm just kidding. I mean, they're not, yeah. I mean, like this little guy here, right? Yeah. Cute little guy. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

That's a nice one, actually, right there.

SPEAKER_03

You're supposed to hold it away like a fish, right? So it looks enormous.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. No, those guys are like standing behind them.

SPEAKER_02

Yep, for sure. Were you guys having to make some longer shots on these craters?

SPEAKER_00

Well, see, there you go. That's that that shows you what they're like. There you go.

SPEAKER_02

So, um good golden retriever.

SPEAKER_00

Well, anyways, Callie's like, they they may be a little hard to get. Like, we're you might see one, but he's gonna be hard to get. And I was like, as soon as he said that, that's the only thing I wanted to kill.

SPEAKER_04

I did nothing. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So we sit down and I'm and he's like, you'll see him in the rocks, and you'll just see him, they're curious little buggers, and you'll just see him just like looking up over top of stuff at you or whatever.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Well, here I am glassing along, and we were we kept hearing these stags. And if you don't know about hunting stags, they call it the roar, and they're they're like an elk-like species that just like sounds like a a m mutated cow when they're um when they're talking. It's it's a weird sound, but it's awesome. It's it's cool because they're just sitting there just roaring back and forth.

SPEAKER_03

Well, let's go back and New Zealand red stag and these things. Yeah, okay.

SPEAKER_00

Those are like mutated red stags, right? They don't make like so. We were hunting wild. So you'll hear that you'll hear terms throw around when when when like people are talking about going and hunting stags. Yeah. They they talk about when you most of them are far there's farm raised. Okay. And they say which farm so there's deer farms everywhere there.

SPEAKER_02

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

So the deer farms, they s they cut the antlers off and they sell them to China until they get so old, and then after they're old enough, like, you know, to where they're in there there later on in life, then they just sell them to hunting ranches. And the hunting ranches, so if they have like 20 hunters coming in, they'll buy 30 of them and they'll turn them out in the middle of their place. And since they don't put high fences up, they call it free range. Yeah. Well, they still bought and paid for the stagger hunting, right? Yeah. They were still farm-raised. They don't tell you that. Yep. Well, the place we were going, we were like we wanted to kill wild stuff. So we killed just straight what? If you were from New Zealand, we went hunting like we were from New Zealand.

SPEAKER_03

So probably like like these guys here. Uh well, maybe not. Yeah. I mean, more traditional definition.

SPEAKER_00

Stuff like that. So uh a normal one has what they call a brow, a brow tyne, a bay tyne, and a tray tyne. And then they have a crown which consists of basically a six by six like is uh is is what a normal one is. So you have brows, bays, trays, and then you have a crown which starts with like what we call a sword and an elk, and then there'll be a couple of tines like off of it. And usually the sword ha is split and then they have a tie going off the back. Um that's similar. There you go. Yeah, that's that one's that one's probably actually a really, really nice wild stag right there.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, yeah. Brow, bay, tray. Pretty cool. Cool looking animal. Yeah. Yep.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's a perfect crown, right? That left side of that one is like typical of what you would see in the wild. That's a my dad killed one a lot like that one right there. That's awesome. That's a really, really nice, that's a stud wild um stag right there. Okay. Yep. Now the ones over that you're seeing over there on the other side of the screen.

SPEAKER_03

That's just that's wild.

SPEAKER_00

This is those are genetic mutants.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. And they I mean they gotta be fed the tons of nutrition to be able to do that. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So the things are smaller than elk, you know, and like a giant elk is as most people know, like a 400-inch elk is Yeah, oh yeah, trophy. Like huge, huge, huge. Anything over, you know, 330 inches in the elk, I that's a nice elk. Yeah. You see one, you might pee yourself. Yeah. And then probably. And if you don't know any better, and and you're supposed to kill, say, a three 380 bull and you don't know what you're doing, and you roll up on a 330, it's gonna die. Yeah. Just because you had no idea.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um, they're huge. But that those elk or those right there, like, you know, the farm raise the ones, you know, like it's not unheard of. They kill 600-inch farm raised. That's crazy. Like he's he and they're and they're like they're between mule deer and and elk in size. So they're not as big as elk. So those things are dragging their head around on the ground. Miserable.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, no kidding.

SPEAKER_00

So, but that's okay. Yeah. Either way, so anyways, that's what we were we were after. We were we wanted to kill the wild ones, and and that's what we did. And and uh, like I said, that chamois, I was just that's all I could think about. So we dropped off on a ridge and we go hiking around, we spent a while when we, you know, went a couple of miles along there. It was me, my dad, Anthony Cawley, and then um Aaron, and a kid from New Zealand who shoots um PRS over there as well. He he was hunting with us. And Frazier and Will Michaud, they were on the other side um hunting. And anyways, we ended up getting split up. My dad and Cauley went down and they went and shot a nice stag, and then they killed some, they were shooting at some pigs, and all of a sudden I look up and I'm glassing along and I'm I'm see- I see this stag bedded down. And then in the corner of my eye, I see like this little goat-looking thing. And I went, Are you freaking kidding me? Just like call just like Cauley said, he's standing up on a rock just looking around. And then I look and he's got like, I don't know what they call him, maybe they call him does nannies, who knows? So it's like sitting there and it's got one of those, and then it's little tiny, another tiny little buck with him. And I went, You're freaking kidding me. Three of them. And and I arrange it, and it was at I don't know, it was about 14, because it was I was still in meters in my rangefinder, and so it was it was like 1,320 meters, so 14 something yards. Yeah. And I'm like, oh my gosh, this is way too far. We gotta get closer. So I look I look and I'm like, I start ranging ridges in front of us. And it's and I look at my phone, it's 4 30 in the afternoon. We told the helicopter to come pick us up at five. So I'm like, oh man. So I bump, so I start going down, and and the kid with me, um, Aaron, he's like, hey, let's let's think about this. Like, do we what about it's on public ground. We can't land the helicopter on public ground to get it. And we're already 800 yards off of uh private ground into the public. And he's like, Man, I don't know. I I just turn around and I looked at him and I said, Well, man, did I sleep on that carcass tonight? They ain't got freaking predators in New Zealand, I don't care. And I said, I said, There's a freaking road over here. You guys can come pick me up on the side by side. I'll see you there tomorrow if you don't want to come. But I'm going to kill this thing, so you come with me or not? And he goes, and he just kind of like looks at me and he looks over the ridge and then he just puts his head down and he just starts walking.

SPEAKER_02

That's some high quality peer pressure right there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So I drop down and go back over there, and I'm like, I get over and I'm like, all right, we get the spot scope. We we turn him back up, we see him, and he's bedded down now on this cliff face on a little shelf on the cliff face. And I got a piece of grass in my eye on the way over, and I couldn't hardly see, and I kept telling him, I can't freaking see. You're gonna have to spot this thing for me because I can't see. And so I'm laying on the rock upside down, dripping water in my eye, trying to get like this uh whatever was in there. It was like grass, and I kept fogging up. I couldn't see. I'm like, golly, and it's in my dominant eye. So I'm like, dude, you you gotta see, man. Like I can't see nothing. And then he all he can see is a billionaire, and I'm like looking through my tens, blurry, and I'm like, oh, there he is, right there. And he's like in this, there's a he's on that shelf, and there's a a little tiny um ridge between us and where he's laying that the grass was just kind of covering the bottom third of his body. And so you could you could see it, but you see his head just poked right up, just sitting there with his little horns curled back. And and Collie told us, he said, look, man, he says, a good one is two ears. Okay, if it if it if it goes two ears up and around, so if they're curling above their ear, pretty good, like he's probably a decent one. I told I had already told Aaron, I says, dude, I don't care if this thing's a baby. I'm shitting it. And I look at that thing, and and we get closer and we get that look at him, and I ranged it at 952 meters, which is a thousand and forty-two yards. And I was like, dude, the thing's not bad. Like I'm like, he's he's poked up above his ears. Like, I'm like, this one might be scaring two ears here. And uh, so I'm like, frick, we may be looking at a decent one. Well, I'm like, all right, this next ridge is 300 more meters. Let's go. That's gonna be about it, it'll be give me about a 700-yard shot. Yeah, that's all right. Let's go. What type of wind or anything?

SPEAKER_03

I mean, uh, is it fairly complicated? Pretty good wind. Oh boy.

SPEAKER_00

No, no, no, no. Pretty good wind blowing down the canyon, but it's protected because we're shooting down the wall, right? Yeah. And I'm like, but, but I'm like, I don't really know what the wind's gonna be like. Well, I'm I'm starting to pack everything back up, right, to get to get going. And all of a sudden I hear for one, I heard my dad start shooting uh pigs. Yeah. And so I'm like, hey, I'm gonna shoot a chamois. Can you guys stop shooting? And my dad was. Fuming down there, I guess. My dad, if you know my dad, my dad likes to kill stuff. And so when they said shoot pigs, because we got to get these things under control on this place, because there's like I said, there's no piles, no foxes, nothing on that island. So he sees pigs and collie says and start killing them things. My dad starts freaking just he sounds like a seminado going to going to freaking war. And uh so I call down there and say that, and I know at this point, like afterwards, I'm like, if I wouldn't have got that thing, I might have I might have got shot.

SPEAKER_02

Tell him to see. But uh spoiler alert.

SPEAKER_00

I so I'm getting ready to drop down and go over. Also, not here at Chopper Blades, and I'm like, oh frick. So I look at Aaron, I says, Well, he's gonna die from right here, I guess. And uh 937 meters. 952 meters. 952 meters. 1,042 yards. Yep. And so I I uh 6'5 Creed? I'm like, yep, 6'5 Creed more. Um it was my match ammo. That's that's what I shoot. Yeah. Um, I brought I brought both gun, a hunting gun and my match gun, and I did just shoot the same stuff. Perfect. Um I put it on his, I'm like, all right, I think it's gonna be about, I think it's pretty protected. So I'm gonna put it right here, which is about four tenths a win, and he was laying away from us. I measured him. He was about a tenth and a half tall by four tenths wide. Wow. Holy cow. And I pull the trigger and I see the trace, and I like mind you, I couldn't see very good. So I made Aaron get behind me in the spot score. I said, You better watch. And he's like, All right, and I see the trace go straight up my crosshair, and I'm like, crap. I remember in the in the air, I went, well, I missed him. And uh I ran to bolt and I see the so because I saw the trace go up my crosshair, and I'm like, it's going left.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um and sure enough, I I just see this little flash go past his face. And since it hit so far behind him because he was on this cliff face, he didn't even, he didn't even move. So I but I had the next one in him and I went, all right. And I just put I took my the mark that was on his shoulder, put it on his ass and a pulled trigger, and it hit him right right behind the ribs and went out his other shoulder. No, all his head did was went, his head just went drop, kicked a couple times. And I when I tell you that the whole South Island of New Zealand knew that I killed that thing, I am not exaggerating.

SPEAKER_03

Oh man. Heck yeah. So all right, so go ahead. So you shoot this, and it's a thousand yards away now, and you're like, uh oh.

SPEAKER_00

No, yeah, no, then I didn't care what was gonna happen, but I so I we had just radioed on like we radioed when I said, hey, stop shooting.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

The the boys in the chopper heard that because it was Will and uh Frazier and the chopper guy. They they heard that, they went, Oh, we'll go get the stags while you're doing that. So they dropped off with the stacks. Well, by this time, I you know, I get on there, tell them I killed it. And then they was, you know, so then they start coming back. Well, and I'm I'm like, but we're on dock land, so that's what they called like BLM ground over there. So we're so we gotta get off of it so they can pick us up. And so we're busting it down there. And we got we got a thousand almost a thousand yards to go to get back there. And so we're just busting downhill as fast we can because we can see the fence.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

We're like, that's gotta be the fastest way. So we're just like cruising, and we probably cut three, four hundred yards by the time we can hear the chopper, and the chopper just comes over us in circles, and we're like, what's he doing? Well, so he couldn't land, but he could hover. Throw a line down. Yeah. So so he we didn't know that. So we so we kind of found a flat-ish spot. Well, we were flat where we were at, and he just dropped down, covered the deals. We just got this on with the radio, says, We're gonna hover, boys. And so he drops down, and the ski is right there. We just threw threw our guns in the ski and our packs in the ski and just bailed in the deal, and he goes, Where'd you kill him? And dude, this guy, so Will's in there, and it and if y'all don't know who Will on the show is, he's a great guy, but he's he's a former ranger and he was airborne. And so he's been in some choppers before. Sure. And we anyways, we go over and this this guy could fly pretty good. We we go over and and he we're like, it's on that cliff over there. He's like, okay. So we go over there, and there's like a little that, like I said, you know, 20-foot shelf or whatever that is on. He says, Well, I'm gonna go up and I'm gonna stick the skis right over above the ground, and then y'all bail out, go get him, put him back in the deal, we'll we'll get out of here. So we're okay. So we get we get out. And like I said, I was floating at this point, so I can't, I don't even pay attention to what's going on. I just we they open the door and I go bailing out of that thing, run over to the ding chamois. I grab him, we're like, you know, I'm still like just buzzing around. We get that thing going back, we throw it in the deal, and we'll when I get back in the in the helicopter, we we we take back off. And he he look he just elbows me and goes, This dude can fly. The chopper blades were only three foot from the cliff. Oh no my gosh. And it was 25 mile an hour. 25 mile an hour wind blowing that thing just kind of like it would just kind of go back and forth or whatever. And I mean, you just see the guy, he's just up there just with the controls, just kind of doing this and stuff. And he's just holding it there, and he's like calm as a cucumber, just no big deal. Like the other day in the office. Dude. And and we're just sitting there with the blades just like right up against the deal. And he's just no big deal. And it like I said, it was blowing. It I lost my hat. My hat went part of it's the helicopter blew my hat. Well, whatever. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. I turned around and looked for it for a second, and then I was like, Nat, it's not, it's not happening. She turns out the mother, the uh, the earth can have it. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

That's what beavers do, right? Yeah. That's right.

SPEAKER_00

Well, no, it won it one one of these. I would have found that. I'd have said, I'll see you back, get the deal. Yeah. Uh uh. Yep. You'll have to pick me up in the side by side because uh I'm going after the hat.

SPEAKER_02

Yep. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

That's a heck of a hunting story. I feel like uh that's a good one to have, like uh if you were wearing a GoPro the whole time. Or at least a microphone, you know, to be able to like some of that. Man.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, Aaron was taking a lot of pictures. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

But but I mean, it it's hard to to like capture that whole thing control of a helicopter and snatching this thing off a cliff. Like, dude. Yeah, that's it.

SPEAKER_00

It was it was it was epic. Like uh, you know, Will shot an R all in one day. I shot a stag, Will shot a stag, my dad shot like two stags. Um they they we killed a couple of hinds or the cows. They wanted for meat. And then I killed the chamois, Will killed an R a para sheep, my dad killed a bunch of hogs. Dude. Like this is all one day. I could have been done hunting after the one day.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Like that would have been that would have been it. I'd have been fine. I told him, I was like, man, I'll just fish the rest of the time if you want. Frazier's like, no, no, we got more places, don't worry. We're going hunting. That's cool. And then we went and we went and kept hunting, but yeah, that helicopter, that was that was that was worth it.

SPEAKER_02

That's amazing. What a wild story. Uh seriously. Yeah. That's a pretty cool opportunity to to get uh invited to through, you know, all this PRS shooting kind of stuff.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's one of them things where you don't really think that that is that shooting's ever gonna come like you know you're gonna have those opportunities, but never would have like foresaw that. No. And then, you know, fast forward ten years or whatever, and then here you are. And what a crazy I I I remember thinking that sitting in the helicopter, like, wow. This game, this game is uh crazy. Yeah. Yep. Here we are on the other side of the world, just having a blast with people that, you know, like like say we meet through this game and and uh become, you know, great friends with and like and we owe a lot, like the the three of us, you know, it was cool experience to have with my dad, but uh Frazier, I mean, you just can't say enough good about that guy. He's seriously he facilitated the whole thing. We showed up, he picked us up from the airport, stayed at his house, um, drove us around, made sure, like hooked everything up, you know, talked to everybody, and and he's just like, he's like, when are we doing it again? That's awesome. And like we're all we're we're all like I never would have thought like before that that I I thought, you know, you know, I might go back eventually, maybe, but yeah. Then all of a sudden I came back and I'm like, all right, yeah, we gotta go back. Like I can see myself doing that often. Okay, okay.

SPEAKER_03

Well, I mean, I Anthony, first time I met him in Kansas at the finale, he and his uh his buddy Mark that has traveled with him quite a bit over here, they're like, whenever you want to come over, you know, and I'm like, yeah. But that sounds like it sounds like it needs to be a pretty high on a priority list.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, no, like, like you you gotta you I don't think you're understanding what what he's telling you. Like because uh Frasier said that that's how you know most people, you know, they say, Oh yeah. And then and and you know, like it's not that you don't want to, it's just that how do you find the time and go halfway around the world, you know. Right, yeah. Yeah, like it's it's it's a it's an it's a lot.

SPEAKER_03

So and uh sounds like I might need to take my son over there. That might be what a a father-son trip. Well, I mean, you did that with your dad, right? And that's probably you made a lot of core memories doing it.

SPEAKER_00

Oh man. That was one of those things where I told um well, so he got a hold of Will and said, Hey, you think you talk because me and Will Alright, this is now the whole thing. Last year, Mississippi, or maybe the year, no, last year at Mississippi, I'm like, you know, here I am kind of just getting my feet like on the ground at my current job, you know, where I'm at. And uh now I'm a little more established and might have a little bit more freedom. But at the time, like, you know, I didn't really want to ask for time, right, you know, or anything like that. So like when I would go to a match, you know, like like going to Mississippi, like, well, I'd get off whenever I got off work, and sometimes that was, you know, seven, eight at night. And that this was one of those times where we were supposed I was supposed to get off, you know, we were supposed to get done at like noon and we just had emergencies, things like that come up. And so I didn't get done until like seven, and I told Will, I said, Man, dude, I like I could be off in time to get there, you know, before midnight, but it might be we get there before the safety brief.

SPEAKER_06

No.

SPEAKER_00

And that and uh we're driving along. Well, so that's what it ended up being, is I we take off and we're driving, and um, you know, we didn't leave till six or seven o'clock, and it's a good eight, nine hours from here. And I'm we're driving over there and will or and Frasier, who I got to know because he needed to borrow a gun at Beamers match in Kansas, and uh so it which is not very far because I think that the Mississippi match is like in July or something like that. Used to be, yeah. And so at the Punisher, um, yeah, he was trying to borrow a lefty rifle. And so I brought him a gun. I can't remember if he used it or not, but I brought him a gun and ammo and said, here you go, if you need it, if you don't, whatever, that's fine. And and uh so we're going over there and he said, Hey, I got I got my camp trailer over here, because he keeps a camp trailer over here, and and he's like, Yeah, he said, if you need to stay in it, let me know. And I said, Well, look, we're gonna not gonna get in. I don't know what time we're getting in. It's gonna be like we may get a cat nap, but but uh if we get there before in time to do anything, he's like, That's fine, no problem. I'll just leave it unlocked. And I said, Okay. And he's he he left it unlocked with beds made, and uh, we showed up. Well, we get driving over there, and I so I'm driving, and uh I took my turn or whatever, and then all of a sudden, dude, I got tired. And I mean tired. And I remember I was like, oh frick, we gotta pull over. So I pull over in a gas station, and uh, and I just said, dude, we just sleep for a minute and then we'll get back up and go. And he's like, All right, so we sleep and then get up, and he's like, dude, we're gonna be late. I'm like, all right. So then, so then we drive. Well, we ended up getting there with like, say, two hours of spare. So we get in there and we we we go to sleep and wake up, and anyways, it ended up being a good match and we had a good time. But like, you know, that was the first time that that I really had had got to know Fraser. And then I stayed with him like when we went to California at the sharpshooter deal, I just stayed with him and we became friends. And so, and and Will the same way. And so then after that, uh when Fraser got a hold of Will said, Hey, do you think think Morgan want to come over here too? And I was like, And so he I said, Do you think uh my dad can come? And Will says, I'll check. And and uh he's like, Yep.

SPEAKER_03

So after that, I was like, All right, I'm in. That's awesome. Okay. That is awesome. It was fun. Yep. Man, I saw I was at Twisted Barrel and a month or so ago, and uh Fraser's got a truck and trailer there. That's like his home base. You know, is and um That's where he keeps it. Yep. Yeah, which is a great I mean it you're centrally located. Um he's got That's what he thinks. Yeah, exactly. He flies into Little Rock right there, which the airport's uh I mean, a ten minute Uber ride from from yeah, Twisted Barrel and and then you you're all free, go wherever, you know? Man, I would I would love the idea of like having a a travel trailer in in another country full of matches and just like let's just go.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, he's got all the reloading stuff in there. He's uh everything we need.

SPEAKER_03

We need all right. Frazier, if you're listening to this, reach out to me. We're gonna get you on the show and we gotta we gotta talk about this. I I feel like we gotta have and and you know what, Morgan, you gotta come on too, and we're gonna we're gonna pound him with questions and stuff.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah. Anytime. I'll tell him I'll tell him.

SPEAKER_03

Yep. Let's do it. Let's do it. Yeah, we're running a little long tonight, which was 100% worth it. Absolutely. This is cool. This is cool. I think I think people are really gonna like this, man. And um, dude, well, um, I know we're gonna have you on again soon here. You you're shooting three qualifiers. Odds are you're gonna win two or three of them. So well, I won't give her hell. I love it, man. I love it. Morgan, thank you very much for coming on tonight. Thanks for storytelling, and uh we'll we'll have you on here again soon. I know people are gonna want to hear from you.

SPEAKER_00

Thanks for having me.

SPEAKER_03

I can't, man.
