And as you were um mentioning some of the the ideas that you share, especially about the cards and the different games you could play, I immediately thought how much fun some of my kids at church had had with playing you whether you do it with a Bible verse or do it with books of the Bible and just a discard game, you know, as you go around, deal out the cards and each kid get four cards and then put the next word of the verse um down and lay it down or books of the Bible. And I mean that that is so easy to do. And it's almost like family game night, you know, that you could just take that. And I was thinking, oh man, I know Life Way has those books of the Bible cards that are fun and colorful if a parent says, I don't have time to write out all 66 books. Uh, but you know, that would be a fun, colorful way to do it. You know, of course they're cut the coded by the vision too. So some some fun activities there. But I know there's also if parents don't want to take time to write down all those books of the Bible, there's lots of printables out there for books of the Bible. It comes with most of our Life Way curriculum. Yeah. Um, that kids ministry leaders, here's a tip you might want to send those home with your parents uh where they could have a game at home. Or I know we've had some on our Bible drill Pinterest board, um, some printables that parents can use to print out those books of the Bible. So it doesn't matter if you do it with index cards and have fun decorating those with books of the Bible and Sharpie pens, or if you get a printable or purchase some. The important thing is that you have fun playing those games because the things is as kids see you having fun, then they're gonna become more excited. And then time's gonna pass and they're gonna have memorized all 66 books of those Bibles, you know. So Yeah, that's right. Because some of our parents uh did not have the opportunity to be in Bible drill as kids. And I've heard many parents say that they learned along with the kids.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah. It's a family together, just doing this together. And that's what's really cool about it. And each time, you know, we when I talk with my kids about verses or books of the Bible, I'm learning something new each time and that. And so what a great opportunity, again, we have to, as parents and as church leaders, to equip parents in order to say, hey, you can do this. This is something simple. Let's make it fun, family game night, let's make it simple, something you already incorporate into your daily rhythm. Um, it doesn't have to be difficult. It can be really fun and encouraging. And again, we model that for our kids. And so um we want to just make sure that we're intentional with that and be consistent of doing that so that um, you know, it doesn't have to take an hour to do. It can be five minutes here, let's play this game, ten minutes here. Let's just be consistent in that. And I know that we'll see the next generation be more uh literate with the Bible, have those skills developed, and that they fall and have this love for God's word. That's what we want to teach them.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. And now as we think about our older kids, um, especially like our um preteens or our our students, and thinking about, okay, what what does biblical literacy look for them look like for them? You know, I I think about, you know, moving them to helping them apply those verses that they they memorize those scripture verses. Um I I've often thought of of those verse like, what time I'm afraid, I will trust in thee. Now you can tell I memorize King James as a Bible driller. Um, but you know, helping kids, and of course we can help kids that are younger kids apply that. Um the the preteens, the students talk about some of the fears that they have and and how they truly can trust God. And and I and I think that the intentionality that parents can have talking through some of those verses and and how does that impact your life or or what do you think about um with this verse? Um, you know, I I think that that applicate life application can help. Is there any ideas that that you recommend um to continue to to grow beyond some of our basic Bible skills with learning books of the Bible, learning Old and New Testament and so forth, but but the application and um biblical literacy that you would introduce for preteens and students.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and I you hit that well as as well, just making sure that we're applying life lessons to that and parents have the conversations with that, but in through these conversations with uh teenagers, I think most of what we're seeing with students is they just want to a lot of times someone to listen to them. They want to be heard, they want someone that um feels like that that they're not playing tricks or they're they're just they're being real and authentic with them, they're opening up about their own life experiences. And so sometimes as parents, we have to um just be a little more transparent of our own lives and be um just open up, maybe a struggle that we've had or something we a sin that we are have experienced, and what a great life lesson opportunity we can take these verses, take the scripture and apply it in that way. I see with my own preteen boys, almost preteens here, that they also, uh, when we're doing discipleship in our home Bible skills, they're excited to teach their younger siblings. So these older teenager students, they can teach the next generation as well, and allowing them to be teachers and allowing them to model that for the younger generation, allowing them to have leadership in that. Um, preteens, I think of Jesus being 12 years old and he was teaching. Uh and 12-year-olds are just they these ones that are growing in Christ, want to be given opportunities to serve and to teach, and we can do that well in our homes as well. So I learned from my 11-year-old boys, and so they um, you know, just giving them those opportunities, making sure it's about the relationship with the student, and it's not um just about having to make sure we check mark all that they know everything about it. Let's make this applicable to what they're going through in their day and make that relational.

Yes, if your Texas listeners are out there, you can go to sptexas.com slash Bible drill, and um you'll find lots of resources there as well.
