What's up, everybody? It is your boy Uncle Greg, and we are back at it with another episode of the Something Out of Nothing podcast. Number seven to be exact. For this opening monologue, I wanted to talk about a discovery that I had read. Um, this discovery is brought to you by the National Institute of Aging. This is uh an article that was written by the scientists that had done this study. So let's get into it. The first part of this article I wanted to talk about is the mental palette, it's which is the theory of emotional resilience. Researchers have moved away from the idea that positive thinking is the key to mental health. Instead, a major study published in February 2026 introduced the mental palette theory. It suggests that the most resilient individuals are those who can feel a wide spectrum of conflicting emotions simultaneously, such as grateful grief or anxious excitement. The breakthrough here is the emotional complexity, which is a better predictor of long-term stability than happiness. By allowing yourself to feel two things at once, you prevent the brain from becoming overwhelmed by a single negative narrative. Big believer in this. So, in my opinion, I love that this article came out and said that. Um, like I said, I will put the link for you guys to take a look at um to get the credit or to figure out if this is legit or not. But the second study is the discovery of sleep sink brain waves. Neuroscientists have identified a specific neural rhythm now called the delta theta coupling that occurs only when we are solving a problem in our dreams. The breakthrough here is it turns out our brain doesn't just store information while we sleep, it actively runs simulations to find shortcuts. This explains why sleeping on it actually works. New therapeutic routines or techniques are now being tested to help people with PTSD decouple traumatic memories from the creative processing rhythm to reduce night. So basically, what that sounds like is inception. They're getting into people's dreams and figuring out how to solve their traumatic problems that keep recurring. And in our deep subconscious, in our sleep, seems to be a way that they're trying to attack it, which is pretty interesting to say the least. And last in this article is the end of the digital brain myth. For a decade, we believed that the constant screen use was rewiring our brains to be incapable of deep focus. However, a massive longitudinal study, that's a crazy word, concluded this year that the human brain is much more plastic than we thought. The breakthrough here is our brains aren't losing the ability to focus, they're adapting to task switching efficiency. We are becoming faster at filtering out irrelevant noise, but at the cost of Latin inhibition, which is our ability to notice small, beautiful details in our surroundings. Again, this is a report written by the National Institute of Aging. I'll put the link up so you guys can check it out uh in the comments on wherever else I post this. Uh, but this is definitely something I like to dig in and uh dig in our minds, see where we're at as a society, how we're thinking, what's going on, you know. So that's my opening monologue. I don't want to challenge you, but I welcome you guys to open your minds to where our brains are and where the scientists are at and when we study ourselves. So something I found interesting, something I felt like the opening monologue was worthy of being. Anyways, let's get into the topics for this week's Something Out of Nothing podcast. Now for the first topic, did I speak too soon about LeBron and these Lakers? Since going up 3-0, the Houston Rockets are now 2-0, winning two games in a row. In Game 4, Houston made 14 three-pointers versus the Lakers seven, while also getting 25 assists on only 10 turnovers. In game five, Houston made 12 three-pointers to the Lakers five. Lakers shot 22% from the field in game five, or from the three-point in game five, while the Lakers also had 23 turnovers to Houston's 13. So in all aspect, in game four, LeBron James finished with 25 points, three rebounds, seven assists. Can't say that it was his fault in game four why they lost. But in game five, he only finished with 10 points, shooting two of nine from the field, four rebounds, nine assists. Now, although he is in his age and he won't be able to carry the team, I did say I cut him some slack because I assumed the series was over. But it seems like the longer the series goes, it favors the Houston Rockets young athletic squad. Because despite DeAndre Aiden getting double doubles in both the losses, it just seems to not be enough. Because even Smart and Connard, who had great games one through three, only combined for 16 points in game five. So although I may have spoken too soon, LeBron came out the gates hot, but it seemed to cool off. So let's see if he can get these Lakers past these Houston Rockets and earn that $50 million contract. Because right now it's up in the air. I thought I had lost that debate, but maybe not. Maybe not. And it's going to count on the Lakers not turning the ball over. Because to be honest, this looks like a lot of what the Lakers did in the regular season, turned the ball over a lot. And that's where I thought they would not stand a chance against this Houston Rocket team. But they seem to have shortened their lineup. I think about seven guys that are running right now, all young and athletic, given the Lakers fits. So I am recording this Friday early morning, one o'clock in the morning. We'll see if the Lakers can close it out, or if the Houston Rockets will force a game seven back in LA. As for the rest of the league, the New York Knicks creamed Atlanta 140 to 89 to move on to the next round. That game was a snoozer. Philly pushing Boston to game seven. Stats were close in most categories. The biggest difference being the free throws, where 76ers shot 17 of 19, going 89%, versus Boston shooting 9 of 16, shooting 56% from the free throws. The total score ended up being uh Philly 106, Boston 93. Uh Philly giving Boston all they can handle. I love it because you already know I'm a Boston Celtics hater. So let's see what happens in game seven. The best two words in sports. I'm pretty excited that I you know I'll be tuning into that. Uh following that, Minnesota eliminates Denver behind Jaden McDaniel's 32 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists. Anthony Edwards not there. No problem. Dante DiVincenzo off for the season. No problem. Minnesota is able to take care of Denver. And I'm not too mad at him. I love seeing these new young teams come up, be athletic, do what they got to do to get these W's. It's an entertaining ball at the end of the day. That's all you can ask for. Detroit defends home court behind Cade Cunningham's 45.4 rebound, five assists performance. It took every bit of it in order to beat the Atlanta Magic as Paulo Bancaro had 45, or yeah, 45 points himself. Nine rebounds and seven assists. Almost catching that triple-double, but still an L. Orlando is up 3-2, going back home, playing today on Friday. Let's see if they can upset the Detroit Pistons or will Detroit do what they're supposed to do and move on. But the force of game seven in order to do so. Another team that was surprising myself, uh, Cleveland narrowly escaping with a dub over Toronto, 125 to 120, taking a 3-2 lead. Uh, game six on Friday in Toronto. Uh, weird stat. Every home team has won in this series. A lot of people like to say the uh the playoffs don't start until a home team loses. So we'll see what happens. We'll see if uh Cleveland can push on and move to the next series, or will Toronto make this a game seven? Very interesting to see that. And lastly, San Antonio moves on in their series, beating Portland 114-95, going, I believe, four and one in the series. Uh Wemby closed it out with 17 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, and six blocks. Man, it's insane. Uh Dearren Fox had 21 points, three three rebounds, and nine assists, one steal. And uh Castle had 15 points, three rebounds, five assists, one block. San Antonio Spurs taking care of business. We'll see what happens in the next round. But that's it for the sports report. Let's get into the real report. Alright, so for the real report, we're kicking it off with a 30th anniversary Space Jam popcorn bucket that looks like a Papa Shop. AMC Theater on 520 is gonna release the movie and pair it with these popcorn buckets that we've seen be made for all these movies. So, of course, they want to make their money where they can in nostalgia with a basketball cup and a little hoop for your popcorn. Let me know down in the comments if you'd be down to rock this. I think I'd be down. I don't know. It's only a one-day sale, so you better get on it. Alright, so the Michael Biopic is shattering records. The Antoine Fouqua directed Michael Jackson biopic, Michael, has been the undisputed king in the news cycle this week after its global opening last weekend. It officially broke the record for the biggest opening weekend for a musical biopic, pulling in over 217 million. Jafar Jackson's performance is being hailed as transformative, and the final trailer, which features a massive medley of hits like Billy Jean, has been trending across all social platforms since the film's debut. I love it. I still haven't seen it. I'm slacking. That's all me. My bad, y'all. But, anyways, I can't wait to see it. Hope y'all have seen it. Let me know what you guys think down in the comments. Did you contribute to this um record-breaking movie? I haven't yet, but I will. Alright, so this trailer is a brand new Resident Evil trailer. The story takes place in Raccoon City during a snowy winter, running parallel to the events of the classic 1998 video game Resident Evil 2. Instead of focusing on typical stars members right away, the film follows Brian, played by Austin Abrams, a medical courier who is just trying to finish a delivery when the viral outbreak turns the city into a chaotic nightmare. It is described as a nonstop race for survival over the course of a single horrifying night as Brian tries to make his way through the infested city to reach safety. It's released September 18th, 2026. It is included to be presented in IMAX. The cast is Austin Abrams. The film stars Paul Walter Hauser, Zach Cherry, and Callie Reese. So let's get into this trailer. I'm pretty excited. Love the video game as a kid. Wonder how much they're gonna adapt from the video game to their own little creation, but let's check it out. Okay. I'm not mad at it. I'm not mad at it. Uh I have watched Resident Evil movies in the past, and they have, to be honest, a little underwhelming. Um I remember seeing the lasers cut through folks, but that was pretty cool back in the day. Other than that, I don't know, the movies were pretty underwhelming. I will check this out just because I am a video game slash movie adaptation fan. Uh, you guys let me know down in the comments what you think about it. I'm down. See what Zack Craig's got cooking up. Let's check out the next trailer. So, this next trailer we're about to watch is the Spider-Noir trailer. It is set in an alternate universe, 1930s New York City. The series follows Ben Riley, played by Nicolas Cage, an aging, grizzled, and down on his luck private investigator. Years after a deeply personal tragedy forced him to hang up the mask, Riley is pulled back into his past life as the city's only superhero, known simply as The Spider. When high stakes case involving the death of an old acquaintance lands on his desk, he discovers a web of corruption leading back to the mayor and notorious crime boss Silvermane, played by Brendan Gleason. Premieres on MGM Plus Cable Channel, May 25th. All eight episodes drop globally on Amazon Prime Video May 27th. The two cuts feature a unique move. The cast is uh along with Cage and Gleason, um Lamorne Morris as journalist Robbie Robertson, Lee Jun Lee as Reimagined Nightclub singing version of the black cat named Cat Hardy. So let's take a look at this cool trailer. In my opinion, I like the black and white look. So that's when we're gonna watch. Let's check it out.

SPEAKER_00Oh I think right on. Oh.
SPEAKER_01Well that's now. I said it sounds crazy. I know.
SPEAKER_00Yep. I was the Optimist, you know, I'm in for that. I love Spider-Man. Nicholas Cage, one of my favorite actors. I'm all the way in on that. So you guys let me know. Are you guys gonna tune into Spider-Mar? I definitely am. And that will do it for this week's episode of Something Out of Nothing Podcast. Hope you guys enjoyed the opening monologue. Talking about the article of our brains, maybe not as fried as we thought they were. A little bit rewiring. I think we're gonna figure out some stuff we didn't think we could do before. Uh, as far as the basketball uh playoffs, definitely interested to see where this ends up. Lakers play today, Magic play today. Can't remember who's the third game, but yeah, definitely got some exciting NBA playoffs. Oh, Cleveland and Toronto. See if Cleveland can get out of their series. Um, as far as the trailers, uh, the radio audience, I apologize. I highly suggest going on the YouTube and checking out these trailers and enjoying them with us, leaving a comment down in the section if you can. But um, like I said, hope you guys enjoyed. I'll be back again maybe sooner than a week. We'll see. Alright, you guys. Have a great weekend.
