What is up everybody? It is your boy Uncle Greg and we are back at it with another episode of Something Out of Nothing. Now I know it's been about I think about a month since I dropped an episode. But life be life, and man, like I got school, my dad, bills, you know, live in California, if you understand that, it's pretty pricey to live here. So just know how to take a break, how to get the mind right. I felt stressed after not doing one week and then missing another week, and then just kind of like it started piling up, and then I had a conversation with a friend who made things a lot easier on me. And I appreciate him for that. And just mentioned how I basically record for this for me, you know, and whatever comes of it comes of it, you know. And it kind of like put some stress off of my shoulders and just kind of let me like catch up on what I needed to catch up on. And um, yeah, so here we are, you know. Give you a little more realness, a little more less like cookie-cutter, want to give more like a like almost a radio live broadcast versus um a perfectly executed produced television show because that's not what this is. Like I'm not a that type of producer yet, I guess. I don't know. I guess if you don't want to put yourself down and say that's what you're not going to do ever, but for this, I want it to be more off the cuff. I wanted it to be something where I feel like we're just having a random conversation, you know, dip in and out, type stuff. So we'll see how this goes. Keep forever tooling, hopefully get it right when I get the formula going down, what feels comfortable, what gets more reaction, what doesn't get reaction. So, you know, gotta give some life to this program, can't just be all read and react. Gotta, like I said, give this program some life. So without further ado, let's get into this something out of nothing podcast. Alright, so for the first topic, I had to start off with this. For the first time in 27 years, the New York Knicks are going to the NBA Finals. Yes, you heard that correct. The New York Knicks won the Eastern Conference Championship with ease after defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers, being led by Jalen Brunson and Mike Brown, the supporting cast of Big Cat, OG Anobi, Josh Hart, Jordan Clarkson needed getting points off the bench, whatever they needed from him. This team seems like they're ready, they're destined to win. They are awaiting the winner of San Antonio and Oklahoma City. But before I get to them, let's just give the flowers to New York. I'm excited for the city. I'm excited for the fans. They've been waiting a long time for this. So I can't wait to see what happens in the finals. You know, I I honestly think that they have a good chance. They have a deep team, they can score when needed. Uh, they were down 20 against Cleveland in the first game of the Eastern Conference Finals and never looked back. So, New York Knicks, congratulations. I'm glad you guys made it. Let's see if you guys can get four more and finish it off. As for the Western Conference Finals, is this not what we predicted? The San Antonio Spurs taking on the Oklahoma City Thunder. Well, game one was insane as we saw Wemby just take over, get the team to overtime, and get the dub. And since then, Oklahoma City got two wins, they look pretty uh comfortable with the whole team performing well. Um, but more recently have suffered some injuries, whether it was AJ Mitchell or Jalen Williams only playing one game. Um, the Thunder are now reeling with injuries, and Oklahoma City uh we'll see how they respond after getting thumped by San Antonio. I believe uh Oklahoma City scored like 80-something points, which is like the first time in like I don't know how long, but it was a long time. But either way, the Thunder have to bounce back at home. If not, San Antonio gets a dub, get the dub back at home, go on to the finals, take on the Knicks. That's my that's what I see happening. I'm gonna see a San Antonio win the next two out and call me chalk guy, because of course Oklahoma City's going through injuries, but I don't know. I think San Antonio's got some momentum. Um Victor Weminyam is just now looking to be denied. We'll see what happens. We'll see if Shay can uh get out of this funky zen. Stephen Stefan Castle's been putting him in uh a little blunder and locking him up a little bit, so we'll see what happens, man. We'll see what happens, but in my opinion, I got San Antonio Spurs winning the next two, uh, going to the NBA Finals, taking on the New York Knicks, which is gonna be absolute cinema. Cinema, I'm telling you. Uh New York Knicks taking on the San Antonio Spurs, Wamby versus the City of New York, Jalen Brunson, Big Cat. That's gonna be entertainment, and I can't wait to see it. Hopefully it happens. Oklahoma City Thunder. I don't want to see them go back to freaking finals, dude. Like just to see them flop and flail everywhere. I'm out, bro. I'm out. Alright, so keeping it in the NBA. I have heard over the last month or so with these playoffs, a lot of people are upset with having to have Peacock, having to have the ESPN, and also being subscribed to I believe let's see, Amazon Prime. So needing these three streaming sites in order to watch all the playoffs. Now, like I said, the majority of people are upset, you know, I think they are mad that they gotta pay what twenty-eight dollars a month uh in order to maybe thirty, I don't know, I'm just rounding up. But having to pay that in order to watch uh live sports program. Now I'll give you my opinion after I give you what I believe is um a reason for it. So I remember when streaming first came out, and I remember saying to a lot of people, like, oh, it'd be tight to have exactly what we wanted to watch on certain streaming services, because we were obviously already paying then. Um but at that time we had like our cable service and we were able to tie it in with that, and so that's the way we saw streaming services then. Um, but at some point we knew it was gonna be all a carte and they're gonna serve it how you want it. Um, but the cost of that, the price of that comes with a hefty tag, you know, like we thought it'd be something simple, like how it was when it first came around. Um but these uh companies, these entities like NBA, NFL, they are learning how to monetize and get their licensing fees and everything paid to the highest bidder. And so when you're paying so much and shelling out, like this is just the end result, you're just gonna have to pay for the premium. And right now, premium is live sports, um, everything else, daytime television, a lot of stuff's getting phased out. Um, if you look at uh the ratings for the highest uh television ratings for shows or what what people are watching, um live-wise, it's sports. The top what ten I think will be NFL uh games, playoffs, the Super Bowl. Um, yeah, like it's just live sports or at a premium, and people are paying a bunch of money for them. You're wondering why these athletes get paid a bunch of money. It's because they're getting a bunch of money from the TV rights, and a bunch of money from sponsorships, and it's all from our viewership. However, Mitch eyes they draw, that's data for them to turn around and sell to these companies to say, hey, this is many, this is how many people are watching. We can get your company this certain amount of time space, this how many eyeballs will see it, and that's how they get money. So it's just an ugly game. I know it doesn't sound right to the average human being, but I mean this is what the cost is. So, in my opinion, I get to watch what I want to. It's gonna shout out a few bucks, and if I don't want to watch it, if it's not a good product, well guess what? I'm not paying for it. Simple as that. So just use your power of consumerism and don't put it where you don't want to, where it's not living up to your standard of entertainment. Because at the end of the day, this is all entertainment. So my opinion, I'm not mad at it, I'm not mad that the NBA has found a way to make money and us the consumer are left to figure out how to watch it. I know there's other ways that people sneak around, but um it's crazy to watch these sites get tracked down and shut down as well. So I don't know. As a consumer, I understand the plight, but as someone who tries to see it from all sides, I can see why a business wants to expand and make as much money as possible, especially on their own name and like this. So yeah, that's my stance. And now we hop into the DC world where we got another look at the DC lantern series that's coming out on HBO Max. Finally got a look at the suit and some actual footage of the ring. Definitely will go over that trailer, but for now, just wanted to talk about it and get your guys' thoughts. Are you guys fans of the Green Lantern? Uh I'm not I'm not too privy on knowing too much about the history of the Green Lantern, but the show has my interest, at least. You know, I'm interested to see where they're taking these characters. I know um one of the in the trailer, the guy who has the Green Lantern ring, says, in order for you to get this, you will have to get over my dead body, which tells me that it's just gonna go down, they're probably gonna scrap. Um The Marine doesn't believe this guy's worthy of that ring. So I'm I'm definitely interested to see where they take it. Um I'm a DC fan, I'm a comic book fan. Casual, don't know too much. I'm gonna tell you right now, I can't give you names, can't give you all that, but I do like uh narratives that they're still the stories tell. Um so let's see what happens, what comes of it. Uh the trailer will be coming soon. You know what? Let's do it next. Alright, so in the first trailer, it was kind of basic. A lot of people thought it was gonna be really grounded, they didn't see uh powers from the ring, uh, didn't see green suits or any suits, to be honest at all. So a lot of people were giving it heavy criticism, but in the second teaser, a lot more. So let's get right into it, my friends.
SPEAKER_01The greatest weapon in the universe. Women if to use it, that's the whole ball game, Junior. Did you just use that ring to count it for money? No. Tell me how you got it. All right. No, how I got it. I'm sure it's held in minority for maybe you should have power like that when you have to work for it. I've been doing this when you're away. Everybody's lying to it. I know what they're like.
SPEAKER_00How are you chosen for this?
SPEAKER_01It's only one question. I'll do this better than he's ever done it before.
SPEAKER_00Then go and get it. John Stewart. John Stewart. He has the ring I see. August 16th. I'll be tuning in. I'll be tuning in. Maybe we do some like weekly watch together. We discuss, you know. I don't know, but I'm in. You guys in? Let me know down below. And finally we have the boys season finale. Spoilers, if you haven't seen it, just get out of here now. Get just hit the door. Just get out of here. Alright, now that they're fucking out of here. Let's talk about this shit, dude. So finale, I can understand why people are not liking it. Um, me personally, I loved it. I love seeing Homelander powerless. I love seeing Kamiko step above the shit that she went through, losing Frenchie. Oh god, don't even don't even remind me that shit hit me right in the chest. Right in the motherfucking chest. They knew it too, though. People gotta die in series. People gotta die, and usually they go after your favorite. And Frenchie was one of mine, he was the fucking blue. I love you, Frenchie. The dynamic between uh Frenchie and Kamiko was fucking amazing. Um sad to see him go, but I loved seeing Kamiko uh just thrive above that, do what she needed to do, get those powers who erase essentially home ladder's powers and make him powerless, and then Butcher just came in and fucked him up. It was just it was definitely um a sight to behold. I loved it. I enjoy it. I enjoyed the get back. Um now Butcher being him. I'm not shocked on that ending. I know a lot of people were like, oh, you know, maybe they want a happy ending or something, but nah, I understood the butcher's MO, dude, like, fuck that, he wasn't happy because there was no way he was gonna find happiness until he got what he thought was the right thing, which yeah, he stopped homelanded, but he realized like no, this is this is just gonna be someone else, and so he felt like he had to be the one to do it, and regardless of popular decision, he was gonna have to kill the people that was he was working with, you know. So, not not a decision that a pop probably a lot of people like, but I I respected it. I respected the butcher's character's arc having to go out that way. Um basically just didn't want to be alone, you know. He he probably felt like he would end up like old boy Homelander, so that's what I took out of it, at least he didn't want to be alone, you know? So I don't know. That was a pretty cool ending. I fucked with it. The series overall, eight out of ten, one of my fun one of my favorite like hero series. They went out in different ways compared to Marvel and DC, like they just did some weird shit, and um, I applaud them. I applaud them. A little drawn out, I think it probably ended in four seasons, but either way, I fucks with it. I fucks with it the series overall. Let me know what you guys think down below, what you guys rate it out of ten, um, and how'd you guys like the season finale? Did it live up to your expectations? Now the question is I remember them saying that it was gonna be a movie, that's the last episode, and then they just scrap that. I don't know. I don't know. Who knows? But either way, let me know what you guys think down below. And that's it. These are the few things I was able to get and wrap up and talk about real quick. Um, I might do a little more episodes or just shorter episodes of covering things. We'll see. I'm always gonna tinker with this. This is my little project. I'm dedicated to this and this brand and making it something, and if it becomes something, that'd be dope. I'm dedicated for the next decade plus to make this something out of nothing. But until then, I'm striving for consistency. I'm striving to beat my own mind when I doubt myself. I'm striving to get better every day, and I hope you do too. So, till the next one, see you guys.
