Today we are studying Matthew Chapter 25. In this chapter, Jesus teaches the parables of the ten virgins and the talents, and describes the final judgment—showing us that we must be prepared, faithful, and compassionate as we await His return. We are reminded that our faith must be active, prepared, and productive. It calls us to live ready for Christ’s return, to use what God has entrusted to us, and to love others through tangible acts of compassion. A life that honors God is one that is faithful, watchful, and full of good works.

Welcome to Giving God PRAISE. This is a podcast where we walk through the entire Bible book by book and chapter by chapter. Our goal is to discover not only what God’s Word says, but what it means to praise God in our daily life. In each episode, we explore a Promise to Claim, a Response to Make, an Attitude to Change, an Instruction to Obey, a Sin to Confess, and an Example to Follow. So let’s go ahead and grab our Bibles and dive into today’s teaching.

Today we are studying Matthew Chapter 25. In this chapter, Jesus teaches the parables of the ten virgins and the talents, and describes the final judgment—showing us that we must be prepared, faithful, and compassionate as we await His return.

First, we see a Promise to Claim. In Matthew 25:21, the master says, “Well done, good and faithful slave! You were faithful over a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Share your master’s joy!” This promise reminds us that faithfulness in the small things matters to God. When we are consistent and obedient with what He has given us, there is reward and joy waiting in His presence.

Next is a Response to Make. In Matthew 25:10 it says, “When they had gone in to buy some, the groom arrived, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet, and the door was shut.” Our response is to be ready. We cannot delay our relationship with God or assume we will have more time. We must live prepared, with our hearts set on Him.

Now let’s consider an Attitude to Change. In Matthew 25:24–25 it says, “Master… I was afraid and went off and hid your talent in the ground.” This challenges us to examine fear in our lives. Are we allowing fear to keep us from using what God has given us? We must shift from fear to faith, trusting God enough to step out and act.

Then we see an Instruction to Obey. In Matthew 25:29 Jesus says, “For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have more than enough. But from the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.” The instruction is clear: use what God has given you. We are called to invest our time, gifts, and resources for His kingdom and not let them go to waste.

Next we come to a Sin to Confess. In Matthew 25:42–43 it says, “For I was hungry and you gave Me nothing to eat; I was thirsty and you gave Me nothing to drink; I was a stranger and you didn’t take Me in; I was naked and you didn’t clothe Me, sick and in prison and you didn’t take care of Me.” This reveals the sin of neglect—failing to care for others when we have the opportunity. We must confess any indifference or lack of compassion.

Finally, we see an Example to Follow. In Matthew 25:35–36 it says, “For I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you took care of Me; I was in prison and you visited Me.” This gives us a powerful example of love in action. We are called to serve others, knowing that when we care for people, we are serving Christ Himself.

Matthew Chapter 25 reminds us that our faith must be active, prepared, and productive. It calls us to live ready for Christ’s return, to use what God has entrusted to us, and to love others through tangible acts of compassion. A life that honors God is one that is faithful, watchful, and full of good works.
