Today we are studying Mark Chapter 6. In this chapter, Jesus is rejected in His hometown, sends out His disciples with authority, feeds the five thousand, and walks on water—showing us that unbelief limits what we receive, but faith opens the door to God’s provision and power. Chapter 6 reminds us that faith matters. Unbelief can limit what we experience, but trust in Jesus leads to provision, power, and purpose. It calls us to depend on Him, obey His leading, and walk with compassionate hearts in a world that desperately needs Him.

Welcome to Giving God PRAISE. This is a podcast where we walk through the entire Bible book by book and chapter by chapter. Our goal is to discover not only what God’s Word says, but what it means to praise God in our daily life. In each episode, we explore a Promise to Claim, a Response to Make, an Attitude to Change, an Instruction to Obey, a Sin to Confess, and an Example to Follow. So let’s go ahead and grab our Bibles and dive into today’s teaching.
Today we are studying Mark Chapter 6. In this chapter, Jesus is rejected in His hometown, sends out His disciples with authority, feeds the five thousand, and walks on water—showing us that unbelief limits what we receive, but faith opens the door to God’s provision and power.
First, we see a Promise to Claim. In Mark 6:41–42 it says, “Then He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke the loaves. He kept giving them to His disciples to set before the people. So they all ate and were filled.” This promise reminds us that Jesus provides more than enough. Even when resources seem small, He can multiply what we place in His hands. We can trust Him to meet our needs fully.
Next is a Response to Make. In Mark 6:12–13 it says, “So they went out and preached that people should repent. And they were driving out many demons, anointing many sick people with oil, and healing them.” Our response is to go and obey. Just like the disciples, we are called to step out in faith, share the message, and trust God to work through us. Obedience activates His power.
Now let’s consider an Attitude to Change. In Mark 6:6 it says, “And He was amazed at their unbelief.” This challenges us to examine our faith. Are we limiting what God wants to do because of doubt? Unbelief can hinder what God desires to accomplish in our lives. We must shift from doubt to trust, believing that God is able.
Then we see an Instruction to Obey. In Mark 6:8–9 Jesus instructed them, “He commanded them to take nothing for the road except a staff—no bread, no traveling bag, no money in their belts, but to wear sandals, and not put on an extra shirt.” The instruction is clear: depend on God. Jesus was teaching His disciples to rely fully on Him rather than their own resources. We are called to live with that same dependence and trust.
Next we come to a Sin to Confess. In Mark 6:52 it says, “because they had not understood about the loaves. Instead, their hearts were hardened.” This reveals the sin of a hardened heart and spiritual dullness. Even after witnessing miracles, the disciples struggled to fully grasp what Jesus was doing. We must confess any spiritual blindness or hardness that keeps us from understanding and trusting God’s work.
Finally, we see an Example to Follow. In Mark 6:34 it says, “When He went ashore, He saw a large crowd and had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. Then He began to teach them many things.” Jesus gives us the perfect example of compassion. Even when He was tired, He chose to care for others. We are called to reflect that same heart—seeing people with compassion and responding with love and truth.
Mark Chapter 6 reminds us that faith matters. Unbelief can limit what we experience, but trust in Jesus leads to provision, power, and purpose. It calls us to depend on Him, obey His leading, and walk with compassionate hearts in a world that desperately needs Him.
