Today we are studying Mark Chapter 10. In this chapter, Jesus teaches about marriage and commitment, welcomes children, challenges the rich young ruler, predicts His death, and defines true greatness—showing us that following Him requires full surrender, childlike faith, and a heart of servanthood. This chapter reminds us that the Christian life is not about holding on—it’s about letting go. It calls us to surrender fully, trust like a child, serve others humbly, and follow Jesus with unwavering faith.

Welcome to Giving God PRAISE. This is a podcast where we walk through the entire Bible book by book and chapter by chapter. Our goal is to discover not only what God’s Word says, but what it means to praise God in our daily life. In each episode, we explore a Promise to Claim, a Response to Make, an Attitude to Change, an Instruction to Obey, a Sin to Confess, and an Example to Follow. So let’s go ahead and grab our Bibles and dive into today’s teaching.
Today we are studying Mark Chapter 10. In this chapter, Jesus teaches about marriage and commitment, welcomes children, challenges the rich young ruler, predicts His death, and defines true greatness—showing us that following Him requires full surrender, childlike faith, and a heart of servanthood.
First, we see a Promise to Claim. In Mark 10:29–30 Jesus says, “I assure you… there is no one who has left house, brothers or sisters, mother or father, children, or fields because of Me and the gospel, who will not receive 100 times more now at this time… and eternal life in the age to come.” This promise reminds us that nothing we give up for Jesus is ever lost. God rewards faithfulness both now and for eternity.
Next is a Response to Make. In Mark 10:21 Jesus told the rich young ruler, “Go, sell all you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.” Our response is to surrender anything that competes with Jesus in our lives. Following Him requires letting go of what we hold onto most tightly.
Now let’s consider an Attitude to Change. In Mark 10:15 Jesus says, “I assure you: Whoever does not welcome the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” This challenges us to move from pride and self-reliance to humility and childlike faith. We are called to trust God simply, openly, and fully.
Then we see an Instruction to Obey. In Mark 10:43–44 Jesus teaches, “Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must be a slave to all.” The instruction is clear: live a life of service. True greatness in God’s kingdom is found in humility and serving others.
Next we come to a Sin to Confess. In Mark 10:22 it says about the rich young ruler, “But he was stunned at this demand, and he went away grieving, because he had many possessions.” This reveals the danger of holding onto worldly things more than God. We must confess any attachment that keeps us from fully following Jesus.
Finally, we see an Example to Follow. In Mark 10:52 Jesus said to Bartimaeus, “Go. Your faith has healed you.” Immediately he could see and began to follow Him on the road. Bartimaeus shows us what true faith looks like—persistent, bold, and willing to follow Jesus without hesitation once we receive His touch.
Mark Chapter 10 reminds us that the Christian life is not about holding on—it’s about letting go. It calls us to surrender fully, trust like a child, serve others humbly, and follow Jesus with unwavering faith.
