Today we are studying Mark Chapter 15. In this chapter, Jesus is put on trial before Pilate, mocked, beaten, and crucified, and ultimately gives His life on the cross—showing us the depth of His sacrifice and the power of His love to bring salvation. This chapter reminds us that the cross was not the end—it was the greatest act of love ever shown. It calls us to choose Jesus boldly, trust Him in suffering, reject the pull of the crowd, and live in response to His sacrifice.

Welcome to Giving God PRAISE. This is a podcast where we walk through the entire Bible book by book and chapter by chapter. Our goal is to discover not only what God’s Word says, but what it means to praise God in our daily life. In each episode, we explore a Promise to Claim, a Response to Make, an Attitude to Change, an Instruction to Obey, a Sin to Confess, and an Example to Follow. So let’s go ahead and grab our Bibles and dive into today’s teaching.
Today we are studying Mark Chapter 15. In this chapter, Jesus is put on trial before Pilate, mocked, beaten, and crucified, and ultimately gives His life on the cross—showing us the depth of His sacrifice and the power of His love to bring salvation.
First, we see a Promise to Claim. In Mark 15:39 it says, “When the centurion who was standing opposite Him saw the way He breathed His last, he said, ‘This man really was God’s Son!’” This promise reminds us that even in the darkest moment—the cross—God reveals truth and brings understanding. Jesus’ sacrifice opens the way for all people to recognize Him as the Son of God.
Next is a Response to Make. In Mark 15:15 it says, “Then Pilate, wanting to satisfy the crowd, released Barabbas to them. And after having Jesus flogged, he handed Him over to be crucified.” Our response is to choose Jesus over the crowd. Where others gave in to pressure, we are called to stand firm in truth and not compromise our faith to please people.
Now let’s consider an Attitude to Change. In Mark 15:29–30 it says, “Those who passed by were yelling insults at Him… ‘Save Yourself by coming down from the cross!’” This reveals an attitude of mockery and unbelief. We must move from doubt and ridicule to reverence and faith, recognizing the significance of what Jesus did on the cross.
Then we see an Instruction to Obey. In Mark 15:34 Jesus cried out, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” This moment calls us to trust God even in suffering. The instruction is to remain faithful, even when we don’t fully understand what God is doing.
Next we come to a Sin to Confess. In Mark 15:13–14 it says, “Again they shouted, ‘Crucify Him!’ Then Pilate said to them, ‘Why? What has He done wrong?’ But they shouted all the more, ‘Crucify Him!’” This reveals the sin of rejecting Jesus. We must confess any way we have chosen sin, pressure, or pride over Christ.
Finally, we see an Example to Follow. In Mark 15:37 it says, “Jesus let out a loud cry and breathed His last.” Jesus gave everything—holding nothing back. His life is the ultimate example of sacrificial love and obedience to the Father.
Mark Chapter 15 reminds us that the cross was not the end—it was the greatest act of love ever shown. It calls us to choose Jesus boldly, trust Him in suffering, reject the pull of the crowd, and live in response to His sacrifice.
