Welcome to Giving God Praise. This is a podcast where we walk through the entire Bible book by book and chapter by chapter. Our desire is to discover not only what God's Word says, but what it means to praise God in our daily lives. In each episode, we explore a promise to claim, a response to make, an attitude to change, an instruction to obey, a sin to confess, and an example to follow. So let's go ahead and grab our Bibles and dive into today's teaching. Today we continue our study through the book of Romans with Romans chapter 12. After spending the earlier chapters explaining salvation, grace, faith, mercy, and God's redemptive plan, Paul now shifts toward how believers should practically live in response to everything God has done through Jesus Christ. Romans chapter 12 is deeply practical and challenges believers to live transformed lives that reflect the character of Christ daily. There was a time in my life when I expected God's transformation without surrender. I wanted God to give me peace without being willing to fully trust Him. I wanted spiritual growth without exercising discipline. And I wanted change in my spiritual life without changing my physical life. As I read Romans chapter 12, I learned that following Christ affects every part of life. My thoughts, my attitude, my relationships, my reactions, my service, my humility, and my love for others. This chapter continually challenges me to stop conforming to the patterns of the world and instead allow God to renew my mind and transform my life from the inside out. If I can be honest with you, I think this chapter speaks directly into modern life because culture constantly pressures people to think, react, and live according to worldly patterns rather than God's truth. This chapter reminds us that believers are called to live transformed lives marked by humility, love, service, and genuine devotion to God. So let's begin reading Romans chapter 12. Therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God. This is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God. For by the grace given to me I tell everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he should think. Instead think sensibly, as God has distributed a measure of faith to each one. Now as we have many parts in one body, and all the parts do not have the same function, in the same way we who are many are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. According to the grace given to us, we have different gifts. If prophecy, use it according to the standard of one's faith. If service in service, if teaching in teaching, if exhorting in exhortation, giving with generosity, leading with diligence, showing mercy with cheerfulness. Love must be without hypocrisy. Detest evil, cling to what is good, show family affection to one another with brotherly love. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not lack diligence. Be fervent in spirit. Serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope. Be patient in affliction. Be persistent in prayer. Share with the saints in their needs. Pursue hospitality. Bless those who persecute you. Bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice. Weep with those who weep. Be in agreement with one another. Do not be proud. Instead, associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own estimation. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Try to do what is honorable in everyone's eyes. If possible, on your part, live at peace with everyone. Friends, do not avenge yourselves. Instead, leave room for his wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord. But if your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him something to drink. For in so doing you will be heaping fiery coals on his head. Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good. Let's take a moment now to pause and bring our hearts before the Lord. Heavenly Father, thank you for the truth of Romans chapter 12 and the reminder that you have called us to live transformed lives through your mercy and grace. Lord, help us stop conforming to the patterns of this world and instead allow you to renew our minds and shape our hearts according to your truth. Teach us to walk in humility, love others sincerely, serve faithfully, and respond to difficult people with grace and peace. Help us use the gifts you have given us for your glory and the encouragement of others. Strengthen every listener today who may be struggling with bitterness, pride, discouragement, selfishness, or spiritual complacency. Open our hearts today to receive your truth deeply and continue transforming us into the image of Jesus Christ. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

Now that we have read God's Word and opened our hearts to Him in prayer, let's begin our praise study and listen to what God wants to say to our hearts today. One powerful promise we see in Romans chapter 12 is that God truly transforms lives through the renewing of the mind. Paul does not simply call believers to external behavior modification, he points toward deep inward transformation that comes through surrendering to God. That promise matters because many people feel trapped in old thought patterns, unhealthy reactions, bitterness, fear, selfishness, or worldly ways of thinking. Yet Romans chapter 12 reminds us that God is able to renew hearts and minds through his truth. Another promise in this chapter is that God gives every believer spiritual gifts and a meaningful place within the body of Christ. No believer is forgotten or useless in God's kingdom. Each person has been given opportunities to serve, encourage, love, and strengthen others in unique ways. This chapter also reminds us that evil does not have to control or define believers because through Christ we are called to overcome evil with good. There is something incredibly hopeful about realizing that God can take ordinary people with flaws, struggles, and weaknesses and continue transforming them into reflections of Christ through daily surrender and obedience. If this study is encouraging you today, consider sharing it with someone who may need the reminder that real transformation through Christ is still possible. The response we are called to make in Romans chapter 12 is complete surrender to God. Paul urges believers to present their lives as living sacrifices, meaning Christianity is not simply something we add to our schedules or acknowledge occasionally. It affects every part of life. That response includes our thoughts, attitudes, relationships, reactions, priorities, and daily decisions. Another response we see in this chapter is choosing love that is genuine and sincere. Paul challenges believers to love without hypocrisy, honor one another, help those in need, and live in peace with others whenever possible. This chapter also calls believers to respond differently than the world responds. Culture often encourages revenge, pride, division, selfishness, and bitterness, but Romans chapter 12 calls Christians to bless those who persecute them and overcome evil with good. That kind of response requires humility and dependence on God. And maybe someone listening today needs the reminder that spiritual maturity is often revealed not only in how we worship publicly, but in how we treat people privately and respond during difficult situations. Romans chapter 12 challenges us to change our attitude from conformity to transformation. The world constantly pressures people to think according to cultural trends, selfish desires, anger, pride, and temporary values. But Paul reminds believers not to conform to this age. Instead, Christians are called to allow God to renew their minds through his truth. This chapter also calls us to move from pride to humility. Paul warns believers not to think too highly of themselves and reminds them that every gift and ability ultimately comes from God's grace. Another attitude to change is moving from bitterness to mercy. Human nature often wants revenge, resentment, or retaliation when hurt by others, yet Paul instructs believers to leave judgment to God and instead overcome evil with good. One reason I love Romans chapter 12 is because it paints such a practical picture of what spiritual transformation actually looks like in everyday life. Real Christianity is not only about what we believe intellectually, it is about allowing God to continually shape how we think, speak, love, serve, and respond to others daily. The instruction to obey in Romans chapter 12 is to present our lives fully to God as living sacrifices. Paul explains that this is our spiritual act of worship. That instruction reminds believers that worship extends far beyond church services or songs. Worship includes how we live daily before God. Another instruction in this chapter is to stop conforming to worldly patterns and instead allow God to renew our minds. Christians are called to guard carefully what influences their thinking, attitudes, and priorities spiritually. This chapter also instructs believers to use their spiritual gifts faithfully for the encouragement and strengthening of others. Paul describes serving, teaching, giving, encouraging, leading, and showing mercy as important parts of the body of Christ. Finally, believers are instructed to respond to evil with good rather than revenge or bitterness. Obedience means trusting God enough to leave justice in his hands while continuing to walk in love, humility, and peace. As we continue walking through Romans together, my prayer is that God would continue transforming every area of our lives through his truth and grace. The sin to confess in Romans chapter 12 is the sin of conformity to the world. It becomes easy for believers to slowly adopt worldly attitudes, priorities, habits, reactions, and values without even realizing it. Paul warns Christians not to conform to this age because worldly thinking often pulls hearts away from God's truth. This chapter also confronts the sin of pride. Human nature naturally desires recognition, control, self-importance, and superiority over others. Yet Paul repeatedly calls believers toward humility and sincere love. Another sin to confess is bitterness and retaliation. When people are hurt, rejected, criticized, or mistreated, the flesh naturally wants revenge or resentment. Yet Romans chapter 12 reminds believers to leave vengeance to God and overcome evil with good. Confession allows Christians to bring pride, selfishness, anger, bitterness, hypocrisy, jealousy, and spiritual complacency honestly before the Lord, so he can continue renewing and transforming their hearts. And maybe someone listening today needs the reminder that God's grace is not only powerful enough to forgive sin, but also powerful enough to change attitudes, relationships, and reactions over time. The example to follow in Romans chapter 12 is ultimately Jesus Christ Himself. Jesus perfectly demonstrated humility, sacrificial love, mercy, compassion, service, and forgiveness even toward those who rejected and persecuted him. He overcame evil with good and responded to suffering with obedience to the Father. This chapter also gives believers practical examples of what transformed living should look like through sincere love, generosity, hospitality, patience, humility, and peaceful living. Paul describes believers functioning together as one body, each serving faithfully according to the gifts God has given them. Another example we see is choosing mercy over revenge. The world teaches people to retaliate, defend pride, and seek personal justice. But Romans chapter 12 calls believers to trust God while continuing to walk in goodness and love. Every time Christians choose humility over pride, forgiveness over bitterness, generosity over selfishness, or peace over conflict, they reflect the transforming work of Christ described throughout this chapter. Romans chapter 12 reminds us that believers are called to live transformed lives through the mercy and grace of God. This chapter challenges Christians to stop conforming to worldly patterns and instead allow God to renew their minds and shape their hearts according to his truth. It reminds us that genuine faith affects how we think, love, serve, forgive, worship, and respond to others daily. Take time today to reflect honestly before the Lord. Are there worldly attitudes, habits, or patterns shaping your heart more than God's truth? Have pride, bitterness, selfishness, or unforgiveness taken root within you? And are you fully surrendering your life to God as a living sacrifice? If this message encouraged you today, consider sharing it with someone who may need the reminder that real transformation through Jesus Christ is still possible. We invite you to continue walking with us through God's Word at www.giving God PraisePodcast.com as we grow together, book by book and chapter by chapter.
