Today we continue our study through the Book of Romans with Romans Chapter 15. In this chapter, Paul continues encouraging believers to walk in unity, love, patience, and mutual encouragement. He reminds stronger believers to bear with the weaknesses of others rather than living only to please themselves. Paul also points believers toward the hope, endurance, and encouragement found through God’s Word and explains his ongoing desire to spread the Gospel to places where Christ has not yet been preached.

Welcome to Giving God Praise. This is a podcast where we walk through the entire Bible book by book and chapter by chapter. Our goal is to discover not only what God's Word says, but what it means to praise God in our daily lives. In each episode, we explore a promise to claim, a response to make, an attitude to change, an instruction to obey, a sin to confess, and an example to follow. So let's go ahead and grab our Bibles and dive into today's teaching. Today we continue our study through the book of Romans, with Romans chapter 15. In this chapter, Paul continues encouraging believers to walk in unity, love, patience, and mutual encouragement. He reminds stronger believers to bear with the weaknesses of others, rather than living only to please themselves. Paul also points believers toward the hope, endurance, and encouragement found through God's Word and explains his ongoing desire to spread the gospel to places where Christ has not yet been preached. This chapter speaks personally to me because relationships within the body of Christ are not always easy. People come from different backgrounds, experiences, maturity levels, personalities, and struggles. Sometimes it becomes tempting to grow impatient, frustrated, or self-focused, rather than walking in grace and encouragement toward one another. Yet Romans chapter 15 reminds us that Christ Himself did not live to please Himself, and believers are called to reflect that same humility and patience toward others. This chapter also reminds us how deeply we need God's Word, because Scripture gives endurance, encouragement, and hope during difficult seasons. And honestly, I think many believers today need the reminder that spiritual maturity is not only about knowledge, it is also about learning how to love, strengthen, and encourage others faithfully. This chapter reminds us that believers are called to build one another up, remain anchored in hope, and continue spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. So let's begin reading Romans chapter 15. Now we who are strong have an obligation to bear the weaknesses of those without strength, and not to please ourselves. Each one of us must please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. For even the Messiah did not please himself. On the contrary, as it is written, the insults of those who insult you have fallen on me. For whatever was written in the past was written for our instruction, so that we may have hope through endurance, and through the encouragement from the Scriptures. Now may the God who gives endurance and encouragement allow you to live in harmony with one another, according to the command of Christ Jesus, so that you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ with a united mind and voice. Therefore accept one another, just as the Messiah also accepted you, to the glory of God. For I say that the Messiah became a servant of the circumcised on behalf of God's truth, to confirm the promises to the fathers, and so that Gentiles may glorify God for his mercy. As it is written, Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles, and I will sing psalms to your name. Again it says, Rejoice, you Gentiles, with his people. And again, praise the Lord, all you Gentiles, all the peoples should praise him. And again Isaiah says, The root of Jesse will appear, the one who rises to rule the Gentiles, the Gentiles will hope in him. Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. My brothers, I myself am convinced about you that you also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, and able to instruct one another. Nevertheless, I have written to remind you more boldly on some points, because of the grace given me by God to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles, serving as a priest of God's good news. My purpose is that the offering of the Gentiles may be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit. Therefore, I have reason to boast in Christ Jesus regarding what pertains to God. For I would not dare say anything except what Christ has accomplished through me to make the Gentiles obedient by word and deed, by the power of miraculous signs and wonders, and by the power of God's Spirit. As a result, I have fully proclaimed the good news about the Messiah from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum. My aim is to evangelize where Christ has not been named, so that I will not build on someone else's foundation, but, as it is written, those who were not told about him will see, and those who have not heard will understand. That is why I have been prevented many times from coming to you. But now I no longer have any work to do in these provinces, and I have strongly desired for many years to come to you whenever I travel to Spain. For I hope to see you when I pass through, and to be assisted by you for my journey there, once I have first enjoyed your company for a while. Right now I am traveling to Jerusalem to serve the saints, for Macedonia and Achaea were pleased to make a contribution for the poor among the saints in Jerusalem. Yes, they were pleased, and indeed are indebted to them. For if the Gentiles have shared in their spiritual benefits, then they are obligated to minister to Jews in material needs. So when I have finished this and safely delivered the funds to them, I will visit you on the way to Spain. I know that when I come to you, I will come in the fullness of the blessing of Christ. Now I appeal to you, brothers, through our Lord Jesus Christ and through the love of the Spirit, to join with me in fervent prayers to God on my behalf. Pray that I may be rescued from the unbelievers in Judea, that the gift I am bringing to Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints, and that, by God's will, I may come to you with joy and be refreshed together with you. The God of peace be with all of you. Amen. Let's take a moment now to pause and bring our hearts before the Lord. Heavenly Father, thank you for the truth of Romans chapter 15, and the reminder that you have called believers to build one another up, walk in unity, and remain anchored in hope through your word. Lord, help us become people who encourage others instead of tearing them down. Teach us to walk with patience, humility, grace, and love toward those around us. Strengthen every listener today who may feel weary, discouraged, or overwhelmed by difficult circumstances. Fill our hearts with the joy, peace, and hope that come through the Holy Spirit. Help us remain faithful in sharing the gospel and serving others with humility just as Christ served us. Open our hearts today to receive your truth deeply and continue shaping us into people who reflect the love and hope of Jesus Christ. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Now that we have read God's Word and opened our hearts to Him in prayer, let's begin our praise study and listen to what God wants to say to our hearts today. One powerful promise we see in Romans chapter 15 is that God is the source of endurance, encouragement, peace, joy, and hope. Paul reminds believers that Scripture was written to give instruction, endurance, and encouragement so that God's people would continue holding on to hope, even during difficult seasons. That promise matters deeply because life often brings discouragement, exhaustion, uncertainty, and emotional weariness. Yet Romans chapter 15 reminds believers that God's word continues strengthening hearts and anchoring faith through every season of life. Another promise in this chapter is that the God of hope can fill believers with joy and peace through the power of the Holy Spirit. Hope is not rooted in circumstances always improving immediately. Hope is rooted in the faithfulness of God. This chapter also reminds us that God continues working through his people to spread the gospel and encourage others spiritually. There is something deeply comforting about knowing that even during seasons when believers feel weak or discouraged, God is still able to fill hearts with fresh hope, peace, and strength through his presence and his word. If this study is encouraging you today, consider sharing it with someone who may need the reminder that God is still the source of real hope and encouragement in every season of life. The response we are called to make in Romans chapter 15 is to build others up instead of living selfishly. Paul explains that stronger believers have an obligation to bear with the weaknesses of others rather than focusing only on pleasing themselves. That response challenges Christians to think beyond personal comfort, preferences, or convenience, and instead seek what strengthens others spiritually. Another response we see in this chapter is remaining grounded in God's Word. Paul reminds believers that Scripture provides endurance, encouragement, and hope. Spiritual growth requires continual time spent in God's truth because his word strengthens faith during difficult seasons. This chapter also calls believers to pursue unity and harmony within the body of Christ. Paul repeatedly points believers back toward worshiping God together with one mind and one voice. And maybe someone listening today needs the reminder that spiritual maturity is not measured only by knowledge, but also by how faithfully we encourage, strengthen, and support others in their walk with God. Romans chapter 15 challenges us to change our attitude from self-centeredness to servant-hearted living. Paul reminds believers that even Christ did not live to please himself, but willingly served and sacrificed for others. Human nature naturally drifts toward selfishness, impatience, and personal comfort. Yet believers are called to reflect the humility and love of Jesus Christ. This chapter also calls us to move from discouragement to hope. Life can become overwhelming at times, but Paul points believers toward the encouragement and endurance found through God's Word and the power of the Holy Spirit. Another attitude to change is moving from isolation to unity. Churches and relationships become healthier when believers intentionally seek peace, encouragement, and mutual support rather than division or selfish ambition. One reason I appreciate Romans chapter 15 is because it reminds us that Christianity was never meant to be lived alone. God designed believers to strengthen, encourage, pray for, and support one another as they walk together in faith. The instruction to obey in Romans chapter 15 is to bear with one another's weaknesses and pursue what builds others up spiritually. Paul specifically instructs stronger believers not to live merely for themselves, but to seek the good of others. That instruction reminds Christians that love often requires patience, sacrifice, and humility. Another instruction in this chapter is to remain rooted in Scripture. Paul explains that God's word gives endurance, encouragement, and hope, meaning believers must continually spend time in truth rather than depending only on emotions or circumstances. This chapter also instructs believers to accept one another just as Christ accepted them. Christians are called to reflect grace and unity within the body of Christ despite differences in maturity, personality, or background. Finally, believers are instructed to pray for one another faithfully. Paul openly asked others to join him in prayer as he continued serving the gospel. As we continue walking through Romans together, my prayer is that God would continue teaching us how to walk in humility, encouragement, unity, and hope through Jesus Christ. The sin to confess in Romans chapter 15 is the sin of selfishness. Paul warns believers not to live only for their own comfort or desires, but to build others up spiritually. Human nature naturally focuses inwardly, but Christians are called to serve and encourage others with humility and love. This chapter also confronts the sin of discouragement and hopelessness. Difficult seasons can tempt believers toward spiritual exhaustion, negativity, or losing sight of God's promises. Yet Paul continually points believers back toward the encouragement and hope found through God's Word. Another sin to confess is division within relationships and within the body of Christ. Pride, impatience, criticism, and selfish ambition can damage unity among believers. Confession allows Christians to bring selfishness, discouragement, impatience, pride, bitterness, and spiritual weariness honestly before the Lord, so he can continue renewing hearts through his grace. And maybe someone listening today needs the reminder that God never intended believers to carry life's burdens alone, because he often strengthens his people through the encouragement and support of one another. The example to follow in Romans chapter 15 is Jesus Christ Himself. Paul reminds believers that Christ did not live to please himself, but willingly humbled himself and served others sacrificially. Jesus continually demonstrated patience, compassion, humility, and love, even while carrying the burdens of others. This chapter also gives believers the example of Paul's devotion to spreading the gospel. Paul remained committed to sharing Christ with people who had never heard the message before, even through difficulty and sacrifice. Another example we see is faithful encouragement within the body of Christ. Paul desired unity, mutual strengthening, and prayer among believers as they walked together in faith. Every time Christians encourage someone spiritually, pray faithfully for others, support those who are struggling, or point people toward hope in Jesus Christ, they reflect the servant-hearted love and encouragement described throughout Romans chapter 15. Romans chapter 15 reminds us that believers are called to build one another up, remain anchored in hope through God's Word, and continue walking together in unity and love. This chapter challenges Christians not to live selfishly, but to reflect the humility, patience, encouragement, and servant-hearted love of Jesus Christ. It reminds us that God remains the source of real hope, peace, endurance, and strength even during difficult seasons. Take time today to reflect honestly before the Lord. Are selfishness, discouragement, impatience, or division affecting your relationships with others? Have you become spiritually isolated instead of allowing God to strengthen you through his word and through other believers? And are you helping build others up spiritually or mostly focused on your own comfort and concerns? If this message encouraged you today, consider sharing it with someone who may need the reminder that God still calls his people to walk together in hope, unity, and encouragement. We invite you to continue walking with us through God's Word at www.givinggodpraisepodcast.com as we grow together, book by book and chapter by chapter. As we close today's praise study, let's take a moment to bring our hearts before the Lord in prayer. Heavenly Father, thank you for the truth of Romans chapter 15 and the reminder that you have called believers to build one another up, walk in unity, and remain anchored in hope through your word. Lord, help us become people who encourage others instead of tearing them down. Teach us to walk with patience, humility, grace, and love toward those around us.
