SPEAKER_02Welcome to Giving God Praise. This is a podcast where we walk through the entire Bible book by book and chapter by chapter. Our goal is to discover not only what God's Word says, but what it means to praise God in our daily lives. In each episode, we explore a promise to claim, a response to make, an attitude to change, an instruction to obey, a sin to confess, and an example to follow. So let's go ahead and grab our Bibles and dive into today's teaching. Today we come to the final chapter of the book of Romans, chapter 16. After spending 15 chapters teaching about salvation, grace, faith, transformation, unity, humility, and the gospel of Jesus Christ, Paul closes this letter by recognizing many faithful believers who served alongside him in ministry. This chapter highlights the importance of faithful service, spiritual discernment, encouragement within the body of Christ, and giving glory to God for his work through his people. At times I wonder whether my small acts of faithfulness truly matter. Romans chapter 16 reminds us that God sees every act of service done for him. Paul intentionally named and honored people who faithfully labored for Christ, many of whom would have been unknown to most others. This chapter also reminds us how important relationships and encouragement are within the body of Christ. Christianity was never meant to be lived alone. I think this chapter gives beautiful encouragement to ordinary believers who are simply trying to remain faithful to Jesus day by day. This chapter reminds us that God sees faithful service, values his people deeply, and calls believers to remain spiritually discerning while continuing to glorify him together. So let's begin reading Romans chapter 16. I commend to you our sister Phoebe, who is a servant of the church in Sencree, so you should welcome her in the Lord in a manner worthy of the saints, and assist her in whatever matter she may require your help. For indeed she has been a benefactor of many, and of me also. Give my greetings to Prisca and Aquila, my co-workers in Christ Jesus, who risked their own necks for my life. Not only do I thank them, but so do all the Gentile churches. Greet also the church that meets in their home. Greet my dear friend Epinnetus, who is the first convert to Christ from Asia. Greet Mary, who has worked very hard for you. Greet Andronicus and Junia, my fellow countrymen and fellow prisoners. They are noteworthy in the eyes of the apostles, and they were also in Christ before me. Greet Ampliatus, my dear friend in the Lord. Greet Urbanus, our co-worker in Christ, and my dear friend Stachis. Greet Apelles, who is approved in Christ. Greet those who belong to the household of Aristobulus. Greet Herodian, my fellow countrymen. Greet those who belong to the household of Narcissus who are in the Lord. Greet Trophana and Tryphosa, who have worked hard in the Lord. Greet my dear friend Persis, who has worked very hard in the Lord. Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord, also his mother and mine. Greet Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermes, Patrobus, Hermas, and the brothers who are with them. Greet Philologus and Julia, Nereus and his sister, and Olympus and all the saints who are with them. Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the churches of Christ send you greetings. Now I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause dissensions and obstacles contrary to the doctrine you have learned. Avoid them, for such people do not serve our Lord Christ but their own appetites. They deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting with smooth talk and flattering words. The report of your obedience has reached everyone. Therefore, I rejoice over you. But I want you to be wise about what is good, yet innocent about what is evil. The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you. Timothy, my co-worker, and Lucius, Jason, and Sosopater, my fellow countrymen, greet you. I, Tertius, who wrote this letter, greet you in the Lord. Gaius, who is host to me and to the whole church, greets you. Erastus, the city treasurer, and our brother Quartus greet you. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Now to him who has power to strengthen you according to my gospel and the proclamation about Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept silent for long ages, but now revealed and made known through the prophetic scriptures, according to the command of the eternal God, to advance the obedience of faith among all nations. To the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, to Him be the glory forever. Amen. Let's pause and bring our hearts before the Lord. Heavenly Father, thank you for the truth of Romans chapter 16 and the reminder that you see every act of faithful service done for your kingdom. Lord, help us remain faithful, whether our work is public or unseen by others. Teach us to encourage, strengthen, and support one another within the body of Christ with humility and love. Guard our hearts from division, deception, pride, and selfish ambition, and help us remain grounded firmly in your truth. Strengthen every listener today who may feel unnoticed, weary, or discouraged in their walk with you. Remind us that no act of faithfulness done for Christ is ever wasted. Open our hearts today to receive your truth deeply and continue shaping us into people who glorify you through both our words and our lives. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

SPEAKER_02Now that we have read God's Word and opened our hearts to Him in prayer, let's begin our praise study and listen to what God wants to say to our hearts today. One powerful promise we see in Romans chapter 16 is that God strengthens his people. Paul closes the letter by praising God, who has the power to strengthen believers through the gospel of Jesus Christ. That promise matters deeply because life often leaves people feeling weak, discouraged, overlooked, or spiritually exhausted. Yet Romans chapter 16 reminds believers that strength ultimately comes from God, not from human ability alone. Another promise in this chapter is that God sees and values faithful service. Paul intentionally acknowledged many believers who served, sacrificed, encouraged others, and labored faithfully for Christ. Some of these people are mentioned nowhere else in Scripture, yet their faithfulness still mattered deeply to God. This chapter also reminds believers that the God of peace will ultimately defeat Satan completely. Evil, division, temptation, and spiritual warfare will not have the final victory, because Christ has already secured victory through the cross. There is something deeply comforting about knowing that God sees every prayer, every act of service, every quiet sacrifice, and every faithful step taken in obedience to Him. If this study is encouraging you today, consider sharing it with someone who may need the reminder that their faithfulness still matters deeply to God. The response we are called to make in Romans chapter 16 is faithful service and spiritual discernment. Paul honored believers who worked hard, sacrificed, encouraged others, opened their homes, supported ministry, and faithfully served Christ in different ways. That response reminds Christians that every believer has a role within the body of Christ, and that faithfulness matters more than public recognition. Another response we see in this chapter is remaining alert spiritually against division and false teaching. Paul warned believers to watch out for those who create division and lead others away from sound doctrine through smooth words and selfish motives. This chapter also calls believers to remain wise about what is good while staying innocent regarding evil. Christians are not called to become naive spiritually, but they are called to stay grounded in truth rather than becoming consumed by darkness or deception. And maybe someone listening today needs the reminder that quiet faithfulness behind the scenes still has eternal significance in God's kingdom. Romans chapter 16 challenges us to change our attitude from seeking recognition to embracing faithful service. Human nature often desires applause, visibility, and acknowledgement. Yet many of the believers Paul mentioned served faithfully without widespread recognition. This chapter reminds Christians that God sees what others may overlook. This chapter also calls us to move from isolation to meaningful spiritual community. Paul's long list of greetings demonstrates the deep relationships, encouragement, and support that existed among believers serving together for the gospel. Christianity was never intended to become an isolated walk of faith disconnected from other believers. Another attitude to change is moving from spiritual carelessness to discernment. Paul warned believers to remain alert against division and false teaching that could harm the church. One reason I appreciate Romans chapter 16 is because it reminds us that the Christian life is not built around celebrity or self-promotion. It is built around ordinary believers faithfully serving Christ together with humility, perseverance, love, and obedience over time. The instruction to obey in Romans chapter 16 is to remain faithful in serving Christ and protecting unity within the body of believers. Paul encouraged Christians to support, welcome, and honor fellow believers who were laboring faithfully for the gospel. That instruction reminds believers to become people who encourage others spiritually, rather than neglecting or overlooking them. Another instruction in this chapter is to watch out for division and false teaching. Paul warns believers to remain grounded in sound doctrine and avoid those who intentionally create confusion, conflict, and spiritual deception. This chapter also instructs believers to become wise regarding what is good while remaining innocent concerning evil. Obedience means filling hearts and minds with God's truth rather than allowing sinful influences or deception to shape thinking. As we conclude the book of Romans together, my prayer is that God would continue strengthening us to walk faithfully, serve humbly, encourage one another, and remain firmly grounded in the truth of Jesus Christ. The sin to confess in Romans chapter 16 is the sin of selfish ambition and division. Paul warned believers about people who created conflict and obstacles within the church for selfish purposes rather than serving Christ sincerely. Human nature naturally drifts toward pride, self-promotion, jealousy, comparison, and selfish motives if hearts are not continually surrendered to God. This chapter also confronts the sin of spiritual complacency. Paul called believers to remain alert and discerning spiritually, because deception often enters quietly through compromise and distraction. Another sin to confess is neglecting the importance of encouraging and supporting fellow believers. Sometimes Christians become so focused on personal struggles or personal goals that they overlook opportunities to strengthen others spiritually. Confession allows believers to bring pride, selfishness, division, jealousy, discouragement, carelessness, and spiritual distraction honestly before the Lord, so he can continue shaping hearts through his grace. And maybe someone listening today needs the reminder that faithful obedience and humble service still matter greatly in the eyes of God, even when nobody else seems to notice. The example to follow in Romans chapter 16 is the many faithful believers Paul recognized throughout the chapter. People like Phoebe, Prisca, Aquila, Mary, Persis, Timothy, and others faithfully served Christ in different ways through hospitality, sacrifice, encouragement, teaching, ministry support, and perseverance. Their examples remind Christians that faithfulness takes many forms within the body of Christ, and that every role matters in God's kingdom. Another example we see is Paul himself, who remained deeply committed to encouraging believers, protecting sound doctrine, and spreading the gospel faithfully to the very end of the letter. This chapter also demonstrates the example of spiritual partnership and unity among believers serving together for Christ. Every time Christians encourage another believer, pray faithfully, serve quietly, open their homes, support ministry, or remain faithful behind the scenes, they reflect the servant-hearted faithfulness described throughout Romans chapter 16. Romans chapter 16 reminds us that God sees every act of faithful service and calls believers to walk together in unity, discernment, humility, and perseverance. This chapter challenges Christians to remain grounded in truth, encourage one another faithfully, and continue serving Christ whether their work is public or unseen. It reminds us that ordinary believers can make an eternal impact through simple faithfulness over time. Take time today to reflect honestly before the Lord. Are pride, discouragement, selfish ambition, or spiritual distraction affecting your walk with God? Have you become isolated spiritually instead of remaining connected and encouraging toward other believers? And are you faithfully using the opportunities God has given you to serve and strengthen others? If this message encouraged you today, consider sharing it with someone who may need the reminder that God sees their faithfulness and continues working through ordinary believers for his glory. We invite you to continue walking with us through God's Word at www.giving GodPrazePodcast.com as we grow together, book by book and chapter by chapter. Lord, help us remain faithful, whether our work is public or unseen by others. Teach us to encourage, strengthen, and support one another within the body of Christ with humility and love.
