SPEAKER_01We're back, bitch. We are back. I had a a a moment and I don't want to say it was a vacation. It wasn't. It was not. It was like a very much a working situation.
SPEAKER_00But we're back. We're doing things. But we also see each other so often. So that was like a long time. Like to go like a week. Well, actually, I think it was like two weeks. Yeah. I was not, I was unwell. I was unwell too. It was really weird. Like we're together so much. Yes. But and then because you're so like slammed, it wasn't like, oh, we can chat and oh my god. It was like, yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01It was crazy, but I'm back and almost back to normal. We're here looking fly as hell in our cafe. You guys, do you remember a few episodes back we talked about caftans? And I am so blessed because one day I walked into the studio, and this bitch was like, There's a present for you on the chair. And I was like, what can it be? Right. So I opened it up. I was like, oh my God.
SPEAKER_00They're cheap. They're from Amazon.
SPEAKER_01They're from Amazon. But they listen. Okay.
SPEAKER_00This is listen, this is why we say broke but bougie. Yeah. We are broke but bougie.
SPEAKER_01Yes. Um I, when we spoke of caftants before, and I was telling you, like, you're from Housewives of Beverly Hills wears captants. I don't even know what the fuck those were. Yeah. I was just like, oh, okay. Yeah. So Rachel Zoe and her captain. These are not the ones that uh they wear.
SPEAKER_00However, I couldn't afford the DOS.
SPEAKER_01But these are a very close segment. So we are gonna post pictures of us and our captains. Yes, yes. So you guys can see top to bottom how fabulous we are. I'll tell you this though. It feels good.
SPEAKER_00Right? Like I'm so comfy. I'm all in. And with this damn hint, I could wear this, these all day, every day. Lots of airflow and my arms are open.

SPEAKER_00But see, okay, so for me, I hate my arms, right? Yeah. So I don't like wearing arms because they're just like chunky. Oh my god. So are mine. Fluffy pillows. No, they are not. But like I like stuff like this because it's not like suctioned, but it's it still feels like it's like cool. You know what I mean? I don't know.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, cow cans are a thing, they're a vibe, and I gotta tell you, like, it's not Dior. Right.
SPEAKER_00But it's but I get it. Yeah, right. I get it. But okay, so let's talk about that. Okay. Like name brands. Um my god. Okay. So let's talk about them. I am that person. Like, I love my bags. Okay. I love my bags. My Louis, YSL, the goatee, Prada. Oh, my Prada bag. I forget because that's a winter bag. I forget about that bag. A winter bag. Anyways. Um, but like with clothing, yeah. I'm totally fine, like getting something from Old Navy, yeah, or getting something from Amazon. And I'll get compliments and I'll be like, oh, thanks, girl. Amazon $20. Like, we've talked about this before, like gatekeeping, like people that are like, oh, you know, like stop. Right. But I just don't get, like, of course, you want some nice pieces, of course. Of course. It's nice to sort of mix things up.
SPEAKER_01But you don't have to go like all out. Like people that wear labels top to bottom. Right. It's ridiculous. Right.
SPEAKER_00And and again, of course, like there's there's ones that are better quality, or you know what. But but name brand doesn't always mean better quality. Like not necessarily. Like a brand, and I won't say it because I don't want anyone to come for me. Okay. That my kids wear often. It fades so fast. You know what I'm talking about.
SPEAKER_01I think I do.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I think I do. Yes. And I love it. Right. We have tons of stuff. That's that brand. Yeah. But if it's black and you dry it, it's done.
SPEAKER_01It's yeah, it's over.
SPEAKER_00And that drives me crazy. I paid $60 for this hoodie and it's now light gray. Right. Why? Yeah. I got it in black. Right. Because I live in black.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So yeah.
SPEAKER_00I usually live in black too. Yeah. I'm trying to. I can't. I can't do it. Every time I do, I feel like I feel uncomfortable. I feel out of my skin. Like I feel like you're not, yeah. But I don't know. I just I I and I get it, right? Especially like my oldest son, he's about to be 17. And um, like that's just the name of the game right now, right? And and my he always laughs with us because my parents, my parents dressed very well. My parents like are very like you nobody believes that they're my parents. They look very I mean, they are young, but they look very young, all that. Yeah. And so he's like, I'll be like, Why are you so boughy? And he's like, You and Nana raised me. What do you mean? And I can't even imagine.
SPEAKER_01Every time I talk to you, you're like, look at this bag, right? Even if you don't get it, you're like, you'll send me a text like, isn't she pretty? I was like, yes, she is. Yes.
SPEAKER_00Remember when we went to the outlets and we got I got like six bags at Mark Jacobs. And my son walked in as I was opening all of them.
SPEAKER_01He's like, Mom, what is it?
SPEAKER_00I got caught doing drugs or something.
SPEAKER_01Like, but that money, you look, you could buy the bags and feel good about yourself and whatever, and it's like it's a healthy addiction. It could be crack. So I'm just saying, I say that to everything.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah, I drink Red Bull, I drink coffee, I like to shove. It could be meth, but it's not.
SPEAKER_01But it's not. So it's not. You're actually happy. Yeah. Yeah. It's better than doing all the others. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00It's not meth.
SPEAKER_01No. But I I feel the same way. I think, listen, I I think that you can like mix and match styles. I think you can have like a really beautiful, night, nice captaff. Or like really nice pair of jeans, and then you could throw on, you know, a t-shirt from wherever. As long as you look and you know, or you feel comfortable in it. And here's the thing. There are some people, I have a friend that I grew up with, and I swear to God, I always said like she could wear a potato sack or a freaking black mummy trash bag and walk out and look like a million bucks. And on the yeah, it's just like her vibe. Like she looked amazing. I had to work hard. Or whatever. Yeah. I was always somebody that worked had to work 10 times harder at it. I just didn't have mind you, beautiful girl, perfect body. Like everybody loved her. Like she did, but she just had that aura and it was that confidence about her. Yes. And I think that's the thing that's missing the most from people is that confidence. Because some of the the other day, I was in a dress from a you know, not bougie high-end store, and I got more compliments on that dress than I have on like bougie high-end pieces that I have. Which is not a ton, but like but you do have a few pieces that are nice. And it's crazy. People don't know what if they unless you're walking up to somebody and like I'm thinking they're they're tag check yes.
SPEAKER_00Tag check. Yeah. And you don't know. Well, and that's my thing. I appreciate nice things, right? But I also am not like, oh, they're wearing nobody cares. They're kids wearing granimals. Now, okay, hold on. If your kids wearing granimals and you have an Airmez bag, that's a fucking problem.
SPEAKER_01I'm sorry, but but but you know these kids get met. No, I'm not talking about like like preschoolers that are pink all day. Right. Like, what are you really gonna go out and buy? Like if you're at preschool and you're like if I had money, I probably would. And you'd let them get nasty? Yeah. I okay, so here's a story. So I okay, my friend was a nanny for this family who had a lot of money. Yeah. Okay. She I don't know, I don't remember for like she got sick or whatever. Anyways, so she's like, Can you take over for a couple days? I'm like, Yeah, no problem. I kind of knew them sort of so I was like, Yeah, I can do that. And so I remember the mom, I'll never forget this. The mom was like, Hey, I need you to like, you know, run a couple errands for me and whatever. And you know, so I took the kids and I ran these errands for her. And one of the errands was she's like, I need you to go pick up it was there's like a boutique right by my house. Yeah. So I need you to go pick up something I boutiques are crazy expensive. Boutiques are crazy expensive. Like in California, boutiques are like a whole nother, I think they're for no reason. Yeah. Like that's cute, right? That's beautiful, but shit. Right. Well, I think there's a lot of places that are like, oh, we're a boutique, but they're like very reasonably affordable. And then there's like boutiques, which are exclusive. Like, just use my credit card and pay for it. It's ordered but it's not paid for it. So yeah, no problem. Three kids. Okay, she had three kids. It was over a hundred dollars worth of socks. These are three kids under four socks. This had to be okay. And this was the nineties. This was like ninety ninety six. So let's equate that to now. Right. That's over 12 grand.
SPEAKER_00Right. No.
SPEAKER_01Three kids under three. I'm talking or three kids under four. I think they were like maybe, I'm guesstimating, but like one, three, and four, maybe one, three, four around there. I spent over a hundred and let's say 140 bucks worth of socks.
SPEAKER_00And it's not like I got it was probably like a three pack for each of them, right?
SPEAKER_01It wasn't yeah, it wasn't, it wasn't like a Hanes, yeah, a Hanes pack. Yeah, yeah. They weren't in plastic. These were very nice socks. And I'm like, but why?
SPEAKER_00That was the thing, you know. I think that I don't get. Like, like I get like if something's comfortable, right? Because I'm so about comfort, right? You want to be comfy. Yeah. But but again, there are I mean, they have Lulu dupes on Amazon that literally look identical. Like if you were to sew that Lulu label on it, no one would know. Nobody would know. And nobody would know. And we do it for other people, right? Let's be real. Yeah. Like, I mean, half and half. I'm half and half. But some people do it. They think, oh, I have to do this because this person is gonna notice it or whatever.
SPEAKER_01But that just I think it's just I think it's silly because I think people, I think a certain type of person notices. Yeah. And I think the rest of us, the the people that the norms, the normal people, we we try to. I mean, not that we're normal. No, we're far from it, but I think we're like let's be really clear on that. But we're also not just like I don't give a shit.
SPEAKER_00Like, I don't, I just I don't care. I think that's what it comes down to. I can appreciate cute, nice things, but if you don't have those cute, nice things on, I'm still gonna vibe with you. Well, I don't notice. I don't notice. Yeah, you know, on the day-to-day.
SPEAKER_01Look, I you know, if we're all going out to like a nice dinner or whatever, yeah, yeah, you know, like are you wanna dress scrubby or whatever? No, you're gonna dress nicer. And I might. You never do, you always turn up. You show up every single time.
SPEAKER_00I like to dress, but I don't always a thousand times. I used to love to dress. Now I'm like, I truly, we've talked about this. I we've talked about this. I'm like, I just don't care. I know. And that's and that's again, that's another vibe. Like, it's just different. Like with your daughter's dance, it's with my kids' sports. Yeah. Like here, it's just different. Like it's just, I don't, I don't know how to explain it. And and maybe it's because we're getting older, right? I mean, we're not old, but we're getting older. We're getting older. So maybe we're just like not with the bullshit of like of that kind of stuff. You know what I mean? I don't know.
SPEAKER_01That's probably part of it. I think that plays a role. I think it plays I don't think it plays the biggest role though. I think it's just like I just think the vibe is different here than back home. Because like when I go back home and like my friends are like, hey, let's go to dinner. Yeah, we go to dinner. Right. Everybody dressed, and I'm not necessarily we're not in prom dresses, we're not everything is designer, but we put we pull ourselves together. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yes. And in a way, you know, and even the casual pulling yourself together is different. Yes. It's it's just different. And again, not good or bad, it's just different. It's just different. It's just a a different level of you know, whatever.
SPEAKER_01But I also feel that there's a lot more, this is gonna sound really weird, but like more individualism, right? And less pressure to be like everybody else. Yes. Um, I noticed that there you go out and you just be yourself, yeah. Whatever that means. So, like if you thrift like over there, like thrifting is cool.
SPEAKER_00I think it's cool here. We just the area we're in is different.
SPEAKER_01It's cool, but not like I don't think there's an appreciation for it to see.
SPEAKER_00It's just different. Yeah. Someone explain that to us, please. Why is it so different here? Like, but what is it that makes it where we feel that on a constant basis?
SPEAKER_01It's just well, because you can see like the grown-up uniform, you know, like everybody's in Lulu, or now it's aloe, right? Everybody's in this, everybody's in that. You know, you walk in, there's like 15 moms, and a 12 out of 15, it's literally it's like a uniform. Everybody's just sort of conforms and does it because it's cool now. And I think it's a little different back home. I think people just wear what they want to wear, and it's not and it is not for show, though. It's for bam.
SPEAKER_00And the beach, excuse me, the beach vibe is way different. Uh yeah. So, like if you're running errands, right? You're you look cute, like messy bun, kind of like, you know, whatever you chose to throw on that day, but you can still go grab brunch or whatever and and you don't look like a bum. Yes. You know, I don't know. I don't know. It's just interesting. But the point of all of that is okay, do we need to have those labels? Do we need I don't when it comes to clothing. No, I don't care. Yeah. Um I don't care. I just think like, I don't know, if this is this is 20 bucks versus 120 bucks, right? Why not? Right.
SPEAKER_01Especially for something that's like trending or you know, like I have um, like I've spent money like on staple pieces, I'll spend the money. Like I have like a really nice trench coat. Yeah. And I have like, you know, whatever. Like those kind of like those stainkle pieces, I'll spend more money. But like if it's just, you know, something that's like trending a little bit, I'm like, oh, who cares?
SPEAKER_00Well, too, and for our kids, right? Spending that kind of money on them to grow out of it is so frustrating. So I'm like, yeah, I can get you a couple of those shorts that you like that are, you know, whatever brand. Right. But at the same time, I'm not gonna do your whole wardrobe like that because it's gonna last about five seconds, and then you're gonna outgrow it. You're gonna outgrow it.
SPEAKER_01And like I sort of think, you know, in a in a way too, like you're teaching your kids that like that's the most important thing. You know, and you're not teaching them how to balance their wardrobe either. Yeah. Because I'll tell you, like, if you're in one brand head to toe, like you're gonna be in for a read awakening when you're like a struggling college student that can't afford it.
SPEAKER_00You're gonna be like, but what do I do? No, I always tell our oldest son that I'm like, what are you gonna do when you're on your own? I know, right? Call you guys. That'd be probably the answer, but I mean, he knows.
SPEAKER_01He knows. He knows, he knows. But I'm gonna tell you this. Okay, so um I when did we go to Paris? Like two years ago. Now, oh my god, almost, not quite. So we were in we were in Europe.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I think it has been two years.
SPEAKER_01In October, it'll be two years. Okay. I'm gonna cry because I want to go back so bad. Let's go.

They have got it together. They dress so sleek and sophisticated. But you know what they do? They have I I would stand out like a sort, though. You wouldn't, though. You would like everything would change. So they have these like capsule wardrobes where like they, I think that's what they call them, where it's like they spend money, but they don't have a trillion things. We're such consumers in the United States. Oh, yeah, for like, you know, one shirt is not enough. We have to have 17 of them, you know.
SPEAKER_00And but they'll buy like Yeah, they spend the money, spend the money, but it is they have five pieces instead of 45 things. Right pieces. And they pair them differently.

SPEAKER_01You can't go places look if you're gonna go to all these places in the world, you can't go and be a dick and be a dick. You have to you have to go and experience the food and the people and the culture and the music and the architecture. Yes, like why are you there? Yeah, if you can't appreciate it, right? Why are you there? If you're not there to learn something and just indulge yourself in the culture, just for for that moment, yeah, exactly. They don't want you there.

SPEAKER_01Okay, back to broke. Let's go back to broke, okay? Spirit in our life. So I've never flown spirit, have you? Yes, I've flown spirit twice in my life. Okay. Was it awful? The first time? Okay, I'm gonna say this. The first time, yes. Okay. We're new. The first time.
SPEAKER_00I get mixed things from like my friends that have traveled, like use them multiple times because it was cheap as hell. Right. But I get I get mixed emotions about it.
SPEAKER_01It's a mixed bag and that's let me tell you this, okay. If they weren't um gone, I would not say that I would not fly them again. But I'm but I'm particular, I would be particular about when and where and how and all those things. Because if you look at their track record, they've actually been very safe. They've had no crashes in all the time that they've been existence. So it's like, yeah, good for spirit for you know, for being a really safe, reliable, you know, reliable airline up until now. But short distances, yes. Yeah. Um short trips, easy trips, yeah, sure.
SPEAKER_00But but they nickel and dime you. I was gonna say, I was just about to say that you have to pay for everything. So the tickets um uh forty five dollars, but then you have to pay for every little thing. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So my husband would like, okay. So he's had to fly back home. Quickly for specific things, like a funeral. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Or you know, something and those are the times you need that for sure. Yes.
SPEAKER_01Like because it's unexpected. Well, yeah, but he's also staying in his parents' house. Yeah. So he can go with the clothes on his back. Yes, yes. You know, and small bag. A small bag, like a literally a carry-on, because he's a guy, right? So he doesn't have all the shit we have. But he can do that, spend you know, 80 bucks round trip ticket. He's staying in his parents' house. They can have a toothbrush repair for him. He can wear his dad's pajamas, whatever. He probably wouldn't. He probably wouldn't. But it's like, but it's easy, right? It's like very easy. Um, I have flown it for quick trips. Literally, the first time I flew it was I needed to go from Vegas back to California, back to Vegas in a day. So I had no bags. Oh. It was a very quick boom, boom, back and forth trip. Yeah. So that was easy. That was a no-brainer. Yeah. And then cheap as hell. And cheap as hell. Yeah. And the second time I flew them, gosh, where was I going? I can't remember where I was going, but it was also a quick trip where I didn't eat a lot. Okay. It was overnight, but I didn't eat a lot, and it was being able to take a carry-on.
SPEAKER_00Right, right. And that's like simple. Which I always it it always cracks me up with carry-ons and like checking your luggage and stuff. Like, okay, the when they make you like if your luggage that you're checking is overweight, they make you take stuff out and put it in your carry-on. Right. Does the same balance? Still on the plank.
SPEAKER_01This is true. This is true.
SPEAKER_00Please make that make sense.
SPEAKER_01It doesn't. I it doesn't. It doesn't. Unless you're throwing it away, it makes no sense to transfer it from one back to the next. I don't get it. Yeah. Unless the arrival and a reason that's right. There has to be. We should look that up. Or if you are a pilot or like if you work for an airline, can you can you let us know? Because like that's legit.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Like, wait, why? Or if you're a flight attendant, like I just want to know. I'm not fighting it. I never do. I'm always like, okay.
SPEAKER_01Can I ask the flight attendants and all everybody too in the airline industry? Can I ask you the another question? Is it true that you can't load from the back to the front because of weight distribution? Is that true? And why did we stop putting like automatically putting families together? When we fly. Like why do we have to pay? Is that is that a money grab or is there like I think if you're booking the ticket together, then I think it just sort of makes sense that you're sitting together. Yes. Right? Yes. If you're booking five seats, put the fo those five people together. Right. Booking six seats, right? Put them together.
SPEAKER_00But I don't understand.
SPEAKER_01And it's a lot extra, depending on where you're sitting. It could be 25 a ticket. Right. For us, we're a family of four, but that's a hundred more dollars each way. Right. And we've already paid a lot of money for the tickets.
SPEAKER_00I know our last flight home or coming, no, coming back. We we didn't get seats all together. It was like two off. So the four of us were assigned together. And I asked this guy, I said, hey, he was sitting this the seat that was um like the extra was up further, closer to the cockpit. And it was still a window seat. Yeah. It wasn't better. It was the same. Okay. But I was like, hey, would you mind? Yeah. Um, my husband ended up sitting by himself, but yeah, hey, would you mind? You know, so my family can sit together. And he like didn't take off his headphones, didn't he just looked at me and was like and shook his head. And I was like, I mean, okay, you paid for it. Let's see. Yeah, yeah. I'm not expecting you. Yeah. But like, it's the same seat.
SPEAKER_01If it's the same seat, I don't care. Oh, it's not really good.
SPEAKER_00When it's a middle seat, I don't know. I'm gonna be cute. I would, yeah, I would have to go. If it's the same seat, it's on your back.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's just weird. Yeah, people are weird. You know, I've actually paid for us to us to sit together. This happened. My kids were little too, much younger. At an age where they couldn't sit by themselves. Like they're so they're they're well traveled, and so they can handle themselves on a plane, and now they're a little bit older, so I would trust them.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's it's so different as they get older. As they get older, yes. But when they're younger, no. And you don't know, like, even if even if they are well traveled, you don't know if they're gonna have a flight or whatever.
SPEAKER_01There's scary things that happen up there, right? Well, and you don't want the guy sitting next to them or the woman, you know, like you know, creepy people. Yeah, exactly. But they were little, and um, we were we were flying together, and I absolutely paid, and we got to the airport, and when they handed us our seat assignments, they were all separated. And I was like, you're like, but I paid for them to for us to be together because they're like five and six. Yeah. So they're like, Well, you're just gonna have to ask people, and I'm like, no, no, no. Yeah, I paid for us to be together.
SPEAKER_00Right. It'd be different if you didn't and you were just like expecting them to fix it.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, to like wing it, but no, I paid anyways. I got them to to fix it. Yeah. I don't know if that pissed anybody off, but there are times where we do pay for it, and and it's the airlines that are actually the ones that divide people, and it's that makes no sense. Right. Especially when they're demanding that you pay for it. It's like a break. I know.
SPEAKER_00There's it's we need to if anyone has the hookup on an airplane too. We need to get to Paris. Yeah, let us know.

SPEAKER_00But also, if I just want to rock this bag and it's cute and I don't have $10,000 to spend, rock the bag. Who cares? Like, cool. It's not cost of it. I love that for you. And and it has been stated by these people who make the bags, yeah, that they all come from the same price that is $40.
SPEAKER_01I've heard that so many times. I'm like, I've heard that so many times. Or or like I've heard that like sometimes the bags, okay, let's say they are made in Italy or the cost of making it's only let's say $160 to $180 to make it. And then it's reselling at $4,500. So when are we gonna stop paying these exorbitant prices for these bags and actually pay what we should be paying? We're never going to. We're never going to. We will never stop. We will never, ever stop. I wonder what these companies think about these counterfeit bags, though. And I the reason I ask is because I think the people that can afford, for the most part, the people that can afford to buy the bags that want the bags are going to buy the real thing anyway. And then we always get candy, like you've taken ourselves because I'm not, like you said, spending ten dollars per it's a lot, yeah. But then but we want popcorn. We're gonna get that there. Yes. We get a drink, yes. We're gonna get that there. I normally don't get like I mean, I know they've stepped up their game, but yeah, that's just not my thing. Yeah. Um, but then that's like another hundred. The food is more than than the freaking tickets.
SPEAKER_01It's really I say this, I remember when like obviously this is like way back in the day, but like high school, yeah, your parents would hand you like you're like, I'm gonna go out with my friends on Friday or Saturday night, they do it 20 and you still come home with change. Right. And that was like that was I already gone all weekend. Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_01That was that's like dinner, right? The movies, yeah. And then either like, well, we had D-Turks back there back in the day, but like D-Trix or Starbucks, or like Golden Spoon ice cream, remember? Yeah, yeah. Oh, golden spoon. And then you still go home and your parents would be like, Oh, do you have change for you'd be like, You're smoked all this. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Those were the good old days, man. Now it's like you have to give your kids like when you went to the movies with your friends, did you guys movie hop? Yes. Yeah, we stayed hop. We would be at the movie theater like from like five o'clock on a Friday until like they kicked us out. Oh yeah. You would movie hop all the time. Oh, yeah. Yeah. We had we would have one person buy a ticket, yeah, go in and open an emergency exit.
