On this episode of Vile Talks, I meet up with Zach, vocalist of Concrete Teeth, Piss Leech and Basement Castration.
Hey everybody. I'm back with another episode of Vile Talks. And I'm here with my buddy Zach. How's it going today, bud? It's going great. Uh first thing, I want you to tell me uh what bands are you in?
SPEAKER_01I'm in a few bands. Um the singer for Concrete Teeth, Piss Leech, and Basement Castration. Officially. Officially. Okay, good.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I I think it's super cool that you're in so many projects, and and you were telling me off microphone that you also have other various side things as well, which is super cool.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, I mean like art is art's all I care about. It's the only thing that keeps me alive. So what else would I be doing?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, right. That's true. I feel like I see you up on that's just super cool. Um first thing I wanted to ask is what's your first memory of music?
SPEAKER_01I can't remember first memory, but I can tell you my first concert. Fair. I was like, go for it. I want to say five or six years old, and we saw Ted Nugent at like what the is it the Toledo rip off? Is it in Twitter wherever that takes place? I was probably there. Um, yeah, and that was uh awful. I um growing up, my mom would also take me to Motley Crue, and we saw Motley Crue probably anywhere between 30 and 40 times. Yeah. And half the half those times are the KISS. Or we're with Kiss, and I fucking hate KISS.
SPEAKER_00That's super funny. When uh that's I I'm pretty sure I I went to see Tendigen at the Riboff twice. That's funny. I he played there a lot. I mean, I don't I mean, it makes sense. It's that type of fucking thing. It's that type of crowd. Yeah, it's not my thing though. I just like the rides, the two rides they always had.
SPEAKER_01I never did the rides. I don't like it. Oh see, I was like, I was like, you know, five or six. I was like, yeah, I want to do that fucking weird ass carnival ride I'm never gonna see that was built by some dude on Acid at 4 a.m. this morning.
SPEAKER_00One of my one of my no, I wouldn't say fondness memories because it's not. I remember the one time I went on a Ferris wheel and I like had a oh dude, I love Cedar Point.
SPEAKER_01I went to Cedar Point so much as a kid. I love roller coasters so much. I I don't know if I'd go now. I don't know. I don't know how their maintenance is today.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's fair. I I went, I don't know, like this is not the spent, this is not the way I spent this to go. But tangents, we're okay with it. Um, I remember going, I think when I was right out of high school, and like we did like a couple like you know, whatever rides that were just okay. And then we did the one of the ones by the water. I don't know what one. Was it the blue one?
SPEAKER_01It wasn't was it the red one? I don't remember. Was it a steel coaster? Yeah, you did the Millennium Force where you did the magma.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was like it was one of those. But yeah, it had a tunnels where like you feel like your hands would get cut off if you like. I feel like, but honestly, it it was so long ago, I don't remember. But I do remember it had a down and then an well, it started at normal, went down, up, and then a very steep down right off for it, basically. Oh, you probably did them every. Yeah, yeah, there you go. But it was like one of those where that was my favorite. It was it was my first quote unquote big coaster. Dude, that one's that one's a crazy first one. That thing throws you around. I know, and like I remember that thing scared me the first time I wrote it. I remember going down, like riding the up and had in the anticipation of the drop, and then somewhere in the drop, I pass out. Oh, yeah, and I wake up on the up on the other side.
SPEAKER_01I've never passed out on the right.
SPEAKER_00And then after that, and I'm just like, you know what? Maybe this isn't for me.
SPEAKER_01I it's just not my thing. See, I always struggled finding friends who also liked going on rides because I started going on rides, you know, as soon as I could. So whenever I turned like 11, I was like tall enough to like ride the grown-up rides or whatever. So it was like, yeah, I wrote the volume for us like five times that night. Like, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I I liked I was so stoked. I liked the Raptor.
SPEAKER_01Raptor Sig.
SPEAKER_00And then what's the stand-up one? Was that the Raptor? That's a Mantis. Oh, then the Mantis. Oh, the Mantis, those were the Mantis was sick. Yeah, those so those were the two that I like actually liked.
SPEAKER_01The first time I rode the mantis, um, I was like 12 years old, and right next to me was a couple arguing the entire ride, and I could not stop laughing the entire ride, dude. And they it was it was not it was not a good argument, it was like an ugly one, like a relationship ending. Oh, yeah, no, like they they did not spend the rest of the day at the park, and it was it like we just got in, like, yeah, no.
SPEAKER_00That's uh that drive home was fun. RIP for that couple. That's really funny. I uh oh that's so funny. One more one more anecdote about C in a point. I uh I remember one of the ones I don't know what it was, but it was like you were strapped in like in the front, and it was like one of the ones that went like back and like back and forth like that. Uh no, not power tower. I don't know. It was something, but like yeah, something like that. But I remember during one of the drops, my thing moved, and I like had another mini freak out. Like, this is it. Oh, my life is over.
SPEAKER_01The mean streak was falling apart um on multiple times on the mean streak. I've had like my seatbelt come undone and like the bar like unlatch and shit in the middle of the ride.
SPEAKER_00You will not catch me on one of those motherfuckers. Absolutely never. Um, that's really funny. Uh, what was your first like heavy show then? Obviously, Ted Ninja was your first show.
SPEAKER_01Okay, this is this is a good one. Um, again, I had to be like 12, 13 years old. Uh we went to a Rob Zombie like haunted house thing. It's like you did a traveling tour, you brought like three haunted houses, you walk through them with each one's based off of a different movie. I loved it. Um and when you get out of it, there's a band playing. Like there's like a concert when you do the last one. Yeah. And I wasn't into like metalcore or hardcore or anything like that at the time, but Devil Wars Prada was playing. That's and I had no idea who they were. And me and my family were just making fun of this little this little dude moshing, and like he got like hit really good. Yeah. And like he was bleeding from his forehead. Oh no. And he like went back to his friends just like shaking his head like everything's cool. And I'm like, I'm like, what the fuck was going on?
SPEAKER_00And now here we are talking. Yep, yep. I one of my one of my favorite memories of you is oh god uh at uh Fate's Hand's Fate's Hands last show. Fate's Hand last show.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I was watching that earlier today.
SPEAKER_00Yep. Uh shout out Fate's Hand, R I P. Um they covered Square to God. Oh, dude. I I I oh my god, dude. You you I was so tired.
SPEAKER_01I was so tired too. My body was already aching.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, right. I uh that's super cool. I miss that band. Fates Shout out Absent Soul. Shout out Absent Soul, yep.
SPEAKER_01I uh opening opening the rumble, right?
SPEAKER_00I think they are. Yeah. Yeah, I wanna I wanna go to that. I can't. We're going to Hellfest. I thought about trying to make it work. At least the second day, at least the Hundred Demons day. I don't know. Because like there's a couple straight edge bands.
SPEAKER_01Dude, shout out 100 Demons. They're feature on Jaw Wired Shut. I can't stop talking about it. Shout out Jawwired Shut.
SPEAKER_00Dude, have you listened to the new Hunter Demons song? No, I have not. It's it's it's an ass beater, dude. It's been it's really good. I'm excited to see them. It'll be my first time seeing them late this summer. Yeah. Hellfest. If you haven't bought your ticket, you should go with this. Bye, bye, buy. Buy the ticket. Yeah, that'd be dope. Uh do you remember the first time? Well, I guess you said the uh the the dude was moshing. Was that the first time you saw someone like hard moshin'? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, most definitely. Yeah. What uh I okay, so you mentioned all the bands you were in. What band came first? Pissleech.
SPEAKER_01I was not in any project. Um, I was doing nothing. And uh I was friends with Dylan, uh, Rilla Malice Dylan, Pissleech Dylan, and um I would always go to their like whatever shows because they were in like a million noise projects. Terminal Restatory Secretions was one of my favorites. Um and uh Toddler Trip was also sick. And I was just going out to see Pissleach play. Uh their vocalists didn't show up, and they knew that I did vocals, so uh they gave me the mic, and yeah, um it just kind of stuck.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's super cool. I uh I just give you I give people who are in multiple projects, like not just like projects that have come and gone, like active projects. Yeah, like that that must be a lot on your brain.
SPEAKER_01It's really not. I mean, like, um I'm just a vocalist, so it's like I just scream, I'll gotta like I'll help carry gear, I'll help move shit, but it's like no, I need to I need to be more active in the projects we're in. Um, but yeah, concrete teeth. Uh Matt is finishing up school right now, and once he's out of school for the summer, we're gonna be writing a lot for concrete and some new projects we got. Um, Piss Leech, we need to have a meeting and talk about the unreleased music we have because we have unreleased that needs to see the light of day. Okay, cool. And um, yeah, basement castration is also writing. And I don't know, like for me, it's just like I like I was talking to you about it earlier. I like I'm just doing odd jobs right now.
SPEAKER_00I can't get a real job in this fucking economy, so it's like Yeah, it's like unless you like have had a job for a while and like it's just so just like just buying and selling shit, trading shit, doing um side jobs for like my grandpa and shit, and donating plasma.
SPEAKER_01And it's like because I'm still you know at home with my mom. It's like I don't have to spend all this money on shit. Yeah, that's true. Like, shout out to your mom for letting you know. Yeah, shout out, shout out. If you can live with your parents, live with your parents, it's not worth moving out. No, yeah, like save up money.
SPEAKER_00I mean, like, I have my own spot.
SPEAKER_01There's no shame.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I have my own spot, like, and it's cool, but like save that money if you can. Facts, dude. Like, my bills are.
SPEAKER_01Um, I'm not gonna name who because I don't know like if they want to talk about it, but uh what close homie just moved back in with his mom, and he was I was like, yo, dude, save that fucking money. Fu fuck paying rent if you can live with your mom, dude. Make it work.
SPEAKER_00Facts. Um, so where did okay, basement castration has a very unique vocal sound. Where'd you find where'd you come up with the idea?
SPEAKER_01So I was not an original member of Basement Castration. I joined after they I think they had an album and a few EPs out, but they didn't play any shows yet. Okay. So it was to my knowledge, uh, Dylan, basement castration, Dylan, Separate Dylan, started um just like he built his own guitar, um, which he calls the fuck stick, you know, that that 10 string monstrosity. If you haven't seen it, it's the craziest thing ever. Go to one of their shows and see it. Oh, his uh he's building another one that's even bigger.
SPEAKER_00I don't. It's so sick. Sick. I'm ready.
SPEAKER_01But anyway, um, so basement Dylan started writing basement and stuff, and I don't know how Dylan met Brendan, but Dylan met Brendan, Infectious Waste Brendan, and um they just started writing music together. Uh Brendan sent it to me. I said, I need five more albums of this right now because it was so insane. Yeah, right. And um apparently Dylan was already blowing up on like TikTok because of his 10-string guitar that looks like it's made out of cardboard.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it makes sense why.
SPEAKER_01And um, so when I joined Basement, we were already, you know, blowing up on TikTok and shit, fuck ton of Spotify streams for no reason. Um, listen to real bands. There's so many bands. Listen to real bands, listen to dripping, fuck. Listen to Annihilation, listen to Stitch, goddamn, there's real bands that make real music, right? But um, yeah, so Brendan and Dylan started that, and then I joined for live vocals, and um ever since then I've been doing vocals for it. But yeah, Dylan started doing the uh the pit shifted vocals, yeah, and that just kind of stuck. We've done two shows without the pit shifter, and we just like the pit shifter better.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I I don't think I've ever seen you guys without it, and it's it makes it makes the experience. I mean, without it would probably still be good, but with it is an experience.
SPEAKER_01So I thought it was funny when um the bridge, the bridge recently got a new sound system. He did. Um and they invited us to come break it in. And I was like, I was stoked, but I was confused. I'm like, wouldn't you want an actual band to like break in the sound system? Like, I don't know, wouldn't you want like wouldn't you want like a five-piece band with a piano player or something? Like really get that range. No, they want a basement castration. We want blown out vocals and fucking pitch shifting, dude. And like the bass alone. Yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01And like the bass, you know, because of the bass, you don't even realize that Holden's point. I I'm I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Holden plays an eight-string guitar. Dang. And like you don't even notice because it's it's at least a seven string, but I'm pretty sure it might be an eight-string. But yeah, Dylan plays a ten-string, so you don't even notice that like the other guitar is already like insane.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, right. Um what is since you're in so many projects, the is the writing process the same for all of them, or does it differ per project?
SPEAKER_01I would say it differs with basement. I'm more like just give me the beat, I'll do the vocals whenever you want them. Like, it's just more like I let them write and have fun. Um concrete is yeah, concrete's more of like um the same, but I'll like with concrete, I'm like talking to Matt and Cameron while we write shit and like I'm giving feedback more in concrete, but for the most part, I just tell them if I like what they're doing or not. And when we all agree on like a sound, it's like, yeah, this is it. Oh, like we're super proud of the last release we did, and we man, we wrote that thing like overnight because we were gonna go in the studio with like some songs where like we don't like these songs, so like we spent like two nights like writing new songs for this studio, yeah, and they they turned out awesome. I love them. Um but yeah, we're gonna be writing more for concrete soon. Uh Piss Leech is probably the most interesting one because um with the besides the unreleased music, it would just be like it would be an improv session, and Dylan Dylan would do live drums, and then uh like just like we don't even have any idea what we're doing. Like Dylan just plays for like you know, half an hour, we record it, and then Owen just plays over that like improv, whatever the fuck, and then we just improv vocals over it.
SPEAKER_00That's that's a unique way of doing it.
SPEAKER_01And it produces some interesting music, in my opinion.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because like sometimes if you go, I mean, I I am not speaking from experience because I have no experience. I mean, I was at a let's get you in the studio. I know, I need to I know I I uh I need to learn an instrument too, don't worry.
SPEAKER_01I need to do more than just vocals.
SPEAKER_00I need to, I know. Toledo needs drummers. I told Swans that.
SPEAKER_01I would love to be a drummer, it's just I cannot control my limbs individually like that. Yeah, right. If you want some 4-4 shit though, I got you.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, right. But like I mean I mean, I do a lot of vocal features sometimes, but like at the same time, there's a lot of vocalists too. I need to I need to contribute more. I should maybe I should just be a drummer.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, no, I I I wanna um I don't know. I want to do a merch store that's like not just band shit. I want to start making my own designs and shit. I want to start learning how to um like bleach clothes and like make your own designs and shit. Oh, that's like like bleach graffiti looks sick as hell. It does. Um I just want to learn how to do stuff like that. Um yeah, and uh I've been writing a collection of short stories too. And yeah, I like I just I like writing. I eventually want to start filming some short films and shit. I don't know. I just I just like I like the art of storytelling and I want to get better at it. Yeah, that's the past five years. I've been putting a lot of time researching like um on my own, like books and movies and you know how to how to really get that story that like just gets you just gets you, man.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, right. I uh that's super cool. I a little inside baseball, I've I haven't told anyone this. So I've been thinking uh about transcribing these conversations into like a zine.
SPEAKER_01That'd be so yeah, or like a short like interview version kind of.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. Cause like I mean, I know I like grabbing like I've got four or five zines on my coffee table that like I've I need to get more into the zines, yeah, make zines, do zines, ask bands questions, yes, it's super cool. Um do you could you name for me your scariest show or pit you've been at or around?
SPEAKER_01God, there's been so many. There's been there's been so many. Um you show with Al.
SPEAKER_00Were were you there at the Corktown uh World of Malice when Al was just like Yes, he broke my swatch.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and every time every time Al is crowd killing and like I'm down the line, I start crowd killing too, because I'm gonna I'm I'm not gonna get hit. I'll hit you so I don't get hit. Yeah, Al's not gonna hit me. No, I'm gonna hit someone else so Al can't hit me.
SPEAKER_00No, Al has gotten me. Shout out Al. Shout out Al. He he legitimately like is one of the scariest monsters I know. Dude, Al is the reason that I unlocked that like idea.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, if someone's gonna beat me up, I should just like go beat other people up. Yeah, because I don't want to get hit by Al.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I like like if I'm like on the side and I see someone like if we're doing like say there's like a side beside or whatever. I don't care how tired I am, I'm I'm moving. I I move, I'm gonna be.
SPEAKER_01I am moving out of the way. If you don't want to get hit at a hardcore show, just hit people.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and like I mean, that's the same with Bailey. Like if you Oh my god.
SPEAKER_01The five seconds I've seen Bailey Mosh, oh my god. Yep, yep. And it's like I will get out of the way. I won't name the those who shall not be spoken, but I don't know, were you at the bridge when he knocked when he knocked Dude Out Good? Yeah, I was like fucking he got him fucking good.
SPEAKER_00Yep, yep. It was a clean one. Yeah, the situation could have been avoided, but whatever.
SPEAKER_01I'm strictly talking about Bailey Lane the Haymaker. I'm not talking about M on the Yeah, right, right.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was uh I do remember that unfortunate situation.
SPEAKER_01No, Bailey, Bailey at Frankie's. I've seen Bailey go crazy at Frankie's a few times.
SPEAKER_00Yep, I've taken some hits. He was at we threaten Do you think the Soul Search shirt just gives him power? Yeah, do you think we're probably that he's just like he he he he becomes super saiyan or whatever?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, dude.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, just powers up. Yeah, that's super awesome. Shout out Bailey, shout out Al. That's awesome. Uh um where does your inspiration for being a vocalist come from? Um what bands, singers?
SPEAKER_01Okay, so circa 2012, me screaming along to Suicide Silence in my bedroom. Yeah, that's how it started. Um there were three no four Deathcore bands I heard when I first heard Deathcore Black Tongue, Chelsea Grin, There Is Murder, and uh Suicide Silence. And um Cease to Exist like stuck with me for a while. That was that was my favorite song for a good minute. Um yeah, but like I don't know, I was just into like the genre the generic whatever's popular, Deathcore.
SPEAKER_00I mean I started as a deathcore kid as well, and I think it would be No, I wouldn't I want to go sing that.
SPEAKER_01I liked Death Metal first. Okay. I did like I I I I did like I did like death metal a little bit before death core, but death core is what got me.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like I was yeah, that makes sense. I I think I mean we I've talked to Brendan about doing one of these, and he said the same thing that we can talk about death metal. I'm like, okay, that sounds good.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. Um yeah, no, so yeah, the first death metal band I listened to is Slipknot. Uh their second release is death metal, I will not hear.
SPEAKER_00Iowa?
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah. It's oh yeah. People equal shit, everything ends. Those are death metal songs. I have argue they're not. You can't.
SPEAKER_00I I think I mean I think Slipknot was that band for a lot of people.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_00Because like I like, I mean, I was a death core, like a death core kid, but Slipknot was the first like heavy fucking band that I'm like, oh, this is not like you know, boil it for my valentine or whatever. No, no, no, no. No, this is like scary fucking music. And like, yeah, I what is this is that your favorite Iowa? Or is that your favorite slip title?
SPEAKER_01It's either that. I mean, the self title is also so clean. The self titled also has some unloved songs people don't talk about. Um, like uh like scissors, uh tattered and torn, um uh prosthetics, prosthetic shit like that. Um scissors, even the Have you ever like have you listened to the demos, the interloper demo? No. That shit is tight as fuck. Not to listen to it. Yeah, like um, I don't know. I the self-titled, there's some mean songs on there, people don't talk about fucking uh like Eeyore. Um uh fuck. What's the get this or uh get this? Get this goes crazy. Yep. Have I have I told you uh one of my my slipknot cover band I want to do? No, go for it. I want to start a slipknot cover band where we play tattered and torn, scissors, and we close with get this and we play nothing else. That's I would mosh.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah. I feel like a lot of people would. I know exactly how we play it too. You you you talk about screaming along in your room to suicide silence. I would scream along into my uh in my room to scissors.
SPEAKER_01Oh dude, so like at night when I had like so in high school, at night when you had to be quiet for like mom and dad and shit or whatever, yeah. I would be like I'd have my headphones in and I would be like whisper screaming while like while like quietly mocking shit. Yep. Because I'd be like so hyped up at like three in the morning, but it's like yeah, now my insomnia is just accumulated to scrolling Spotify all night, just deep diving for artists that have like 54 listeners.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I do the same thing. Like, I mean, if you find one, you go down the rabbit hole, you find well. I'm gonna lose it.
SPEAKER_01If I don't look now, I might lose these bands.
SPEAKER_00True, true. That's why I always add if I find a new band on Spotify or whatever, I add it to a playlist. Oh, dude, my backlog is terrible.
SPEAKER_01Well, well, also what I'll do is if I see like a dope album cover on someone's Instagram, but I'm like busy, I'll just screenshot it. So in my photos, I probably have like 200 screenshots of like random albums I still have.
SPEAKER_0020 gigs of screenshots.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. Just like yeah, just fucking random shit people post on their story and shit where I'm like, yeah, I need to listen to that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's super that's that that's quite funny, actually. I I I always like bookmark it.
SPEAKER_01Like, I'll go back to it later. I will clear them out eventually.
SPEAKER_00I do that too.
SPEAKER_01I do I mean you see my PS2 games over there. I got quite the backlog of those too. I know.
SPEAKER_00I'm backed up on my books, I'm backed up on my movie lists. Dude, the PS2 goes crazy. I I got rid of it.
SPEAKER_01Oh, my sticker bombed PS2. Yeah. There's some good ones on there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's super awesome.
SPEAKER_01I uh I'm working on getting the PS3 very soon.
SPEAKER_00I know. I need to uh all I have is a like a PC. I don't have any consoles.
SPEAKER_01I need to buy Spec Ops the line before that game becomes a hundred dollars. Okay, there's copies on eBay for like 20 bucks right now, but sometimes I sell for 50 and like trying to hop on that before I have to pay 200 bucks for a game, like fucking armor core. I want to get the original armor cores, that's gonna be like fucking $3,000.
SPEAKER_00That's super funny. I need, yeah, I need a console. I need to up my gaming. I don't know. It's hard to game when it's nice outside.
SPEAKER_01I got a broken computer over there. Yeah, take it into the shop. Because that the computer I have set up right now, that's that's one Cameron's letting me borrow, and he needs that back. So I was gonna say, are you a PC guy or are you uh I just got it? I literally just borrowed this PC from Cam and he just asked for it back. So fuck. Yeah, I need no, I just need to take that one to the shop and we're good.
SPEAKER_00Okay, cool. Dope.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I don't know what's wrong with it, just once or non and I'm not gonna fuck around with a $500 computer. Yeah, I don't know anything about yeah, I'm just gonna take it to them and they'll they'll tell me.
SPEAKER_00Yep, I'll pay you for it. No, for real. Yeah, right. Can't be worse than a Hellfest ticket. Uh dude, I mean, I don't know if we've talked about it before. Let's okay, Hellfest.
SPEAKER_01I'm so excited, dude. I'm like do we need to pull the lineup again? Like fucking just dude, dude. It's insane. Um Yes, that's uh yeah, okay. Um I got I don't I can't say I can't say one of the secret bands, but I know the secret bands, and one of the secret one of the secret bands on it is a band I'm like dying to see.
SPEAKER_00How did you like nope? Nope. Nope, I don't know. No, okay. It appeared to me.
SPEAKER_01I I just dreamed about this band being on the lineup and other on it.
SPEAKER_00So but how'd you find out?
SPEAKER_01Friends who know.
SPEAKER_00Damn. Damn. You won't even tell me off off.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'll tell you off.
SPEAKER_00Okay, bet.
SPEAKER_01Got it, got it, okay, cool. But um I heard I heard one name and I am absolutely oh dude. I okay cool. Go to go to Hellfest. Okay, go to Hellfest, come with us. If you like north, if you like Northeast hardcore, go to Hellfest.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's gonna be dope. Yeah, I'm excited. That's gonna be fun. Okay, I'm excited for after. Uh, alright, cool. I just got a couple more and we'll wrap this up. Uh could you tell me three albums that have no skips on them? I'll tell you more than three.
SPEAKER_01Um, I I'll get some uh okay. Um uh man, man, man, man. Okay, okay, hold on. I I wanna I want to make sure I'm right. I don't want to butcher any any shit. Um, first off, you said how many you want?
SPEAKER_00Three, but you can give me however many.
SPEAKER_01Uh Monolith of Inhumanity by Cattle Decapitation. That was like that was my first love, like for a record.
SPEAKER_00Is that the one with the dude?
SPEAKER_01I'll pull it up. Okay. It's a yellow one, and the dude's got he's like turning into like an ape.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. With uh Dead Set on Suicide.
SPEAKER_01Yep, yep, yep, yep, Carbon Stampede, Dead Set on Suicide, Living, Breathing, uh, Piece of Deaf Kitty Meat, Foreshed Reassignment, Crystal Liquor. Oh. Um, okay, so yeah.
SPEAKER_00That's a good one.
SPEAKER_01Uh Trumpeting Ecstasy by Full of Hell. No skip. Okay. And then I'm gonna hit you with one more, but I I low-key forget the name of the album. Labyrinth Constellation by Artificial Brain.
SPEAKER_00I have not heard of the last.
SPEAKER_01Well, the Full of Hell one I've heard of. I haven't heard of the other one. And the craziest thing is I saw all three of these bands play together at a show with Revocation. That's no barrier show. That's crazy. And fucking it was my first time seeing Cattle Decapitation. What are they like live? Who? Which one? Oh, Cattle Insane. Insane. I don't know how they are now in their current era, because this was back when um Anthropocene Extinction was the touring record. Yep. And um, so they played like like a more judgment of the set was Anthropocene uh model of inhumanity, then like the hits off of like the other shit. Yeah. Um, but no, uh Travis Ryan came out to do Crawling Back to God with Full of Hell. Cool. And I was in the front screaming every fucking word and fucking uh, you know, just me and Travis getting each other spit on each other's fucking faces and shit. No, when I saw Cattle the first like three times, I was going bar for bar with Travis the entire set. Like I knew every single word.
SPEAKER_00Sweet. Yeah, I've not seen them before. Is it worth seeing them now? Probably. Okay, cool. I think they're playing, aren't they? Uh they're going on tour. Probably. But like, I feel like that would be the only band I would go see. Like, if they're on like a tour tour, it would be obviously going to see them.
SPEAKER_01Travis Ryan is the most talented death metal vocalist. And I'm I'm I'm confident saying that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that tracks. I mean, there's a couple more that come to mind, but like it's he's he's insane. Yeah, he's insane.
SPEAKER_01Because he he he can do like I don't know, yeah. There's tons of like brutal death metal vocalists that have sick ass vocals that sound insane, but it's like none of them can do the range he has.
SPEAKER_00No. And like he I've seen like I think it was the like a behind.
SPEAKER_01I mean, he literally inspired Piss Leech. Like his vocal style on the first two releases is what I do on Piss Leech. Okay, just that fucking disgusting ass, like gurgly shit.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like like I think it was like the behind the scenes something or other where like they're in the studio and he like gargles water and like does a take and it sounds insane. It sounds sick, yeah. It sounds sick. No, he's he's one of the most talented out there. Yeah, that's super awesome. Shout out to Cattle Dcap, probably crazy shout out, because that's not a normal lane, but they printed them.
SPEAKER_01I they were my first love, they were my first in the underground heavy world of music. Yeah, that's solid. Now it's uh I'm I'm confident to say Drown and Blood's probably the heaviest band that I fuck with right now.
SPEAKER_00I don't know them. I have to because I have to do that.
SPEAKER_01Dude, I was dude, dude. Nobody left the kill. Oh my god. That song, dude. Come come to come to that Chicago show with Courtspile with us.
unknownCool.
SPEAKER_01Come see Drown and Blood, dude.
SPEAKER_00Um, do you have a message for the youth?
SPEAKER_01Join a band, get a camera, start writing down your poetry, do whatever it takes to be part of art because art will keep you alive your entire life. If you do it your entire life, art will keep you living, keeps your brain strong, it keeps you engaged with your community, and just like fucking. I know we haven't touched on political shit, but you know, it's it's a rough fucking world out there, everything is against you. Um just remember that like you gotta be a hard motherfucker to live in these times. Because we live in some of the hardest fucking times ever.
SPEAKER_00Yep.
SPEAKER_01It's it's it's insane.
SPEAKER_00I mean um driving up here, I saw gas for four dollars.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. Don't don't let this world break you. No, I want you here. You want like like God's say it says, Life is hard be harder. That's hard line. It's it's so hard. Yeah, you can't let this world fucking break you, because then it's just like then they win. They win, exactly. The fascists win if you if you feel their fear. Don't don't fall into their fear, don't fall into their tactics. Don't don't worry about that shit. If you got your friends and you got your art, that's all you fucking need.
SPEAKER_00Yep, dope, dope shit. Um what's next for you, Zach?
SPEAKER_01I want to hone in. Um I wanna I I wanna hone in this uh these writing projects. I got 10 short horror stories I am building up and I want to release them together as like a little collection. And uh I'm working on like I said, I mentioned the first short film, me and uh Frybot are tossing ideas about it.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah, I think I remember.
SPEAKER_01I got I got a few scripts half baked up, and we're just talking about like what would be cool, what would be what would be something we can do in like seven minutes that gets a point across.
SPEAKER_00Excuse me.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, um I want to expand my horizons as far as art goes.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, super cool to see that you have you have your hands in multiple multiple things.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I'm a I'm a movie snob, I have to. Yeah, if I like I can't I can't like critique movies as hard as I do if I don't make good ones.
SPEAKER_00Fair point. Fair point. Um, well, cool. I appreciate you talking to me today. Dude, hell yeah. This has been super fun. Uh last thing, do you have any shout-outs for anybody?
SPEAKER_01Fuck, so many. Um, all the people that helped me get to where I am. Fucking uh shout out Owen and Dylan from Pissleach for letting me join their project. Shout out uh Dog's Teeth for putting concrete teeth on our first show. God, we were horrible our first our first like five shows. First like 20 shows, probably. But um, yeah, shout out Dog's Teeth. Uh listen to Moretta, shout out Evan, shout out Elijah, shout out Whip. Um fuck, god damn it. I'm such a horrible friend. I'm blanking on the more. It's okay. It's shout out Warren of Malice. Shout out World of Malice.
SPEAKER_00Shout out Al. Shout out Taj. I remembered. Yeah. Yeah, there's a lot. I feel like I feel like putting people on the spot with that question is so but still though, it's still it's still nice.
SPEAKER_01Well, my brain's also just full of like all the recent fucking bands I've just been listening to.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_01Shout out everyone that listens to music, shout out everyone that goes to shows. Uh buy more, buy shirts. And when bands sell shirts that are dog shit, tell them they're selling shirts that are dog shit. Tell bands to print on shaka, fuck guildan. Either sh okay. Either shaka or comfort colors. Comfort colors is fine, but bully bands who print on Gildan. And if you purchase a Gildan t-shirt from Concrete Teeth, I I would formally apologize. We will not be selling those in the future. So it's what Shaka. Except for the ones that we have left.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean, that's fair. You gotta get your money back. So so it's either Shaka or Comfort Colors.
SPEAKER_01No, yeah, I don't know. I'm on Team Shaka right now.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that stuff is the South Over shirt.
SPEAKER_01The it's because it's like, I don't know, like, yeah, like bands are selling Shaka shirts for like 50 bucks. But like, I don't know, dude. Do you want the shirt or not? Fair point. If if it's a good design and it's on Shaka, it's worth 50 bucks to me.
SPEAKER_00That's super awesome. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Go go buy that Fatal Realm long sleeve.
SPEAKER_00Well, cool. Yeah. I appreciate you talking to me today. This has been really fun and nice. Uh more to come soon. Thank you so much. Bye. Bye.
SPEAKER_01Take it easy.
