In this episode, we meditate on a clear word from the Lord: “Yield yourself to learning and you will soar.” Rooted in Proverbs 1:5–9, this message explores the spiritual purpose of learning and why a teachable heart is essential for growth, discernment, and elevation.
You will be encouraged to see that learning is more than gathering information. It is God’s way of helping us interpret the messages of life accurately. This episode highlights how the fear of the Lord is the foundation of profitable learning, why we must remain open to God-ordained human instruction, and how true learning beautifies and distinguishes a person.
If you are in a season of seeking clarity, growth, direction, or deeper understanding, this message will call you back to a posture of humility, surrender, and readiness to learn.
Be stirred to pray again:
“Lord, I resubmit myself to learning. My teachers are not hidden from me.”
A beautiful morning to you and welcome to this morning's expression of igniting your day with Bami Daly or Laura Toba. The message for you this morning is yield yourself to learning and you will soar. Yield yourself to learning and you will soar. Let's read Proverbs chapter 1, verse 5 to 9. A wise man will hear and increase learning, and a man of understanding will attain wise counsel. To understand the proverb and an enigma, the words of the wise and their riddles. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. My son, hear the instruction of your father, and do not forsake the law of your mother, for there will be a graceful ornament on your head and chains about your neck. From this passage, the Lord opened my eyes, and I began to see some things. Number one, the Lord showed me the purpose of learning. If you can grab this, your attitude to learning will change forever. Proverbs chapter 1, verse 5 to 6 says, A wise man will hear and increase learning, and the man of understanding will attain wise counsel to understand a proverb and an enigma, the words of the wise and their riddles. Friends, this shows that the purpose of learning is to gain accurate interpretation and to have proper discernment for the messages of life. There are messages life is communicating to you on a daily basis, but only those who submit themselves to learning can give accurate interpretation and therefore obtain discernment from the things life is saying to them. Every day we wake up, it is an opportunity, but it is also a message. Can I say that again? Every day you wake up, it is an opportunity, but it is also a message. Only those who have submitted themselves to learning can give accurate interpretation to everything life is saying to them. Maybe all you can reckon with right now is how you are feeling, but that feeling itself is a message unto you. Maybe all you can reckon with right now are your present unexciting experiences. Those experiences themselves are messages unto you. Only those who have submitted themselves to learning can give accurate interpretations to life. From that passage, I also saw a two-stage process to profitable learning. Stage one. Proverbs 1 7 says, The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Why is the fear of God the foundation of profitable learning, friends? This is the reason. God is the owner and giver of interpretations. God is the custodian and the issuer of interpretations. How do I know this? Daniel chapter 2, verse 20 to 22 says, Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God forever and ever. For wisdom and might are his, and he changes the times and the seasons. He removes kings and raises up kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding. He reveals deep and secret things. He knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with him. In addition, Psalms 25, verse 14 says, The secret of the Lord is with those who fear him, and he will show them his covenant. So the first stage of profitable learning is this the fear of the Lord is the foundation. Because God is the custodian and the giver of interpretations. The second stage, honor and receive instructions through God ordained human channels. Proverbs chapter 1, verse 8 says, My son, hear the instruction of your father and do not forsake the law of your mother. What do the father and mother represent here? They are your God-ordained channels for instruction. We thank God for your spiritual life. We thank God for your relationship with God. We know that there is a lot you learn directly from God, and we give God praise. But the passage also teaches us that learning is not only vertical, it is also horizontal and relational. God may be the custodian and giver of interpretation, but God ordained human channels have the ability to speak God-given interpretation in a language that you can understand. So, yield to God in reverence, because right interpretations begin with Him and come from Him, but also be willing to receive instructions from God-appointed voices because they have the ability to speak God-given interpretations in a language that you can comprehend. The third thing I learned from this passage is that accurate learning beautifies and distinguishes a person. Proverbs chapter 1, verse 9 says, For they will be a graceful ornament on your head and chains about your neck. The ornament on the head and chains around the neck speak of honor, beauty, dignity, and visible benefits. Friends, learning is not just for information, it becomes adornment. It shows in a way a person lives, it shows in a way a person speaks. And it shows in the way a person carries him or herself. This morning I can tell you two things as a conclusion. God wants you to be able to accurately discern the coded messages life is sending onto you on a daily basis. Whatever you are doing in life, whoever you are, whatever stage of life you are, whatever thing you are going through in life right now, I can tell you unequivocally that God wants you to be able to accurately interpret life and decode its messages. But it will depend on two things. Number one, your reverence for God, who is the custodian and issuer of accurate interpretations, and two, your willingness to listen to God-ordained voices who He has enabled to be able to speak God-given interpretations in languages you can understand. Secondly, God wants to beautify you and your life with the proceeds of your learning. Let me say that again. God wants to beautify you and your life with the proceeds of your learning. Can you take a few moments this morning and say, Lord, I submit myself to learning. Say again this morning, Lord, I make myself available to God-ordained channels, because you have given them the grace and the ability to speak your divine interpretations in languages I can understand. Say, Lord, I make myself available everywhere I go in everything I do. My teachers are not hidden from me. I come in contact with my teachers. My teachers come in contact with me. They are not hidden from me in the name of Jesus. Amen. Till I come your way again. I wish you an amazing day ahead. But before I go, if this episode of the podcast has been a blessing to you, do well to share with another person. I wish you an amazing day ahead. God bless you.
