What if the very personality traits and methods you've always relied on are the very things limiting God's greater work in your life? There comes a moment when God asks us to release what we know so that we can embrace what He knows. A beautiful morning to you, and welcome to this morning's expression of igniting your day with Bamidili alone to that. There's a word for you this morning. Do not let your personality come in the way of what God wants for you. What does the Bible say? Matthew chapter 16, verse 24 to 26. Then Jesus said to his disciples, If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way. Take up your cross and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your soul? Is there anything worth more than your soul? Let's focus on verse 24 a little bit. This means give up your own methods, give up your own preferences, give up your own ideas, give up your own ways of thinking. Take up your cross. Accept the responsibility God gives you. Follow me. Walk in his ways, not yours. I understand the challenge we face, which is the difficulty in rationalizing why surrendering our ways to God makes sense. Maybe you've never known any other way that's understandable. But the Lord is saying to you this morning, there are so many things I want to do in your life. If you keep holding on to your way, you may miss the bigger things I have planned for you. I'm not arguing with whatever success you've achieved using your own methods. I cannot dispute that you've gathered results using your way. But the Lord says this My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts, says the Lord, and my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. That's from Isaiah chapter 55, verse 8 to 9. I don't know how to rank your current thinking pattern, and I don't want to argue with your results. But God declares, no matter how much you've achieved, my ways are higher than your ways, and my thoughts are higher than your thoughts. Maybe already in the things you do, there is a general consensus about your efforts. It seems there has been a ceiling over your performance, a generally agreed limit to your capabilities. Your outcomes are already looking the same, so predictable that people can accurately predict what will happen next, and you've consistently proven them right. The Lord says to you this morning, the reason for this predictability is that you've always done things your way. If you want results that people cannot predict, if you want outcomes nobody can anticipate, he says, My ways are higher than your ways, my thoughts are higher than your thoughts. My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts. Whatever God has entrusted to you, hear this. Do not let your personality force you into a life of predictable outcomes. Do not let it take a moment this morning and be honest before your father. Ask him to show you his ways. Yes, he has a higher way. Yes, enough of producing borrowing results day after day. Enough. Say this morning, my eyes are open in the name of Jesus to see your higher ways for me. Yes, friends, there is more to you. There is more to me. There is more to us. This cannot be our best version. This cannot be our highest version. This cannot be our most superior version. There is more, and it is connected to recognizing and following the ways God has planned for us. Matthew 11 29 says, Take my yoke upon you, let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Taking his yoke is synonymous with taking up your cross. If you've accepted what God has given you, that is the task, the responsibility, the project, the calling, he says it doesn't end with your yes. He says, Let me also teach you. Why not tell the Lord this morning, Lord, I make myself available to be taught of you? No matter how many years I've invested in this using my ways, I make myself available to learn again. Teach me, Lord, teach me. I don't know who this word is for, but I see someone with a lot of results. Yet all these results look the same. You know inwardly that what you truly desire is bigger, better, and higher than all of this. The Lord is saying to you this morning, let me teach you. God has graciously shown us that our current ways, which I refer to as your personality, are actually standing in the way. There may be behavioral changes God wants from you. There may be attitudinal adjustments he requires. Whatever changes he seeks to make in your life, Matthew 11:29 promises he will teach you because he is humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. You will find rest for your soul. I hope this has been a blessing, an encouragement, and a comfort to you this morning. I pray for you that in everything you do today, you will trust God to show you his ways in the name of Jesus. I wish you an amazing day ahead. God bless you.
