In this episode, we reflect on the importance of spiritual attentiveness that leads to early action. God often gives signals, instructions, observations, and inner promptings before situations become urgent. The question is whether we are sensitive enough to recognize them and disciplined enough to respond before pressure becomes our leader.
Drawing from Proverbs 21:5, Proverbs 6:6–11, Psalm 32:8–9, 1 Kings 18:41, Proverbs 22:3, 1 Chronicles 12:32, and Isaiah 26:3, this message calls us to reject procrastination, embrace diligence in planning and execution, and cultivate a peaceful, responsive spirit.
You will be encouraged to stop waiting for pressure, deadlines, or crisis before taking action, and instead become spiritually alert, prudent, and prepared. Like the ant, the prudent person, Elijah, and the sons of Issachar, we are called to detect, understand, and respond early.
Key focus: Be spiritually attentive, discern God’s signals, and take timely action before pressure takes over.
A future can be shaped from today when the heart is attentive enough to recognize God's signals and disciplined enough to respond before pressure becomes the leader. Good morning and welcome to this expression of igniting your day. This morning I saw a possibility, a possibility of taking charge of one's future even from now. As I pressed further, what I received was this spiritual attentiveness that leads to early action. Let me say that again. Spiritual attentiveness that leads to early action. What I understood is that the Lord speaks to us in many ways to help us. But in many situations, we are not attentive. In other situations, we may be attentive, but what we receive does not move us into early action. My prayer is that this word will transform your life and begin to yield positive results immediately in the name of Jesus. You will hear, and what you hear will be potent enough to move you into action in the name of Jesus. Let's begin with Proverbs chapter 21, verse 5. The Bible says, the plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, but those of everyone who is hasty surely to poverty. The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, but those of everyone who is hasty surely lead to poverty. When I received the scripture, the first thing I checked was the meaning of the word hasty as used here. It actually speaks of being put under pressure such that you now act quickly. So Proverbs 21:5 is telling us that the plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, but the plans of everyone who permits themselves to be put under pressure before they act leads to poverty. That means there is a kind of action that is not born out of diligence. There is a kind of action that is not born out of wisdom. There is a kind of action that is not born out of preparation, it is born out of pressure. And the Bible warns us that this kind of haste leads to lack. You must be diligent, not only in execution, but also in planning. Why don't you say concerning yourself this morning? I am diligent in planning. I am diligent in execution. You must declare this over yourself, your family, your spouse, your children, and even those who work with you. We are diligent in planning and we are diligent in execution. I asked the Lord for a case study. I wanted to understand this better. And I will stick into the story of the ant. Do you remember Proverbs chapter 6, verse 6 to 11? The Bible says, There, go to the ant, you slowgard, consider her ways and be wise. Which having no captain, overseer, or ruler provides her supplies in the summer and gathers her food in the harvest. How long will you slumber, O slogard? When will you rise from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep, so shall your poverty come on you like a prowler, and your need like an armed man. There are two important things I saw in this passage. Wow. The first passage we read in Proverbs 21:5 says that the plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, but the plans of everyone who is hasty, everyone who allows themselves to come under pressure before acting lead to poverty. But when the Bible speaks about the ant, it says the ant has no captain. The ant has no overseer. The ant has no ruler. In the case of the hasty person, that person allows pressure to lead them. That person allows pressure to become their captain. That person allows pressure to become their overseer. That person allows pressure to become their ruler. But the ant does not need pressure before it acts. The Bible says the ant has no captain, no overseer, no ruler. Yet it provides its supplies in the summer and gathers its fruit in the harvest. If you are someone who acts only when pressure comes, then pressure has become your captain. Pressure has become your overseer. Pressure has become your ruler. But this morning you must refuse that. Whatever needs to be done must be done. But you must refuse pressure as your leader. Pressure will not be my captain. Pressure will not be my overseer. Pressure will not be my ruler. Declare that concerning yourself this morning. Yes, I refuse and reject pressure as my ruler. I reject pressure as my captain. I reject pressure as my overseer in the name of Jesus. There are people who are never effective until deadlines are issued. There are people who never rise to responsibility until pressure comes. You cannot afford to live like that. I declare in the name of Jesus I will not live like that. Declare also that you will not live like that. My family will not live like that. My children will not live like that. Pressure will not be my captain in the name of Jesus. The second thing I learned from that ant story is that the Bible says, There, how long will you slumber, O slogan? When will you rise from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep. So shall your poverty come upon you like a prowler and your need like an armed man. This suggests that we must learn to rise to occasions early. We must learn to detect and respond. Your detection must lead to response. That means procrastination must be elased completely. Detect and respond. Detect and respond. Detect and respond. The Bible says a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands. It's not always a big delay that creates trouble. Sometimes it's a little delay, a little postponement, a little folding of the hands, a little refusal to act. And then poverty comes like a prowler and need comes like an armed man. So we must learn, friends, to detect and respond. I pray this morning concerning you. As you detect, you respond in the name of Jesus. As you observe, you act in the name of Jesus. As you perceive, you move in the name of Jesus. As you receive instruction, you obey in the name of Jesus. I detect and I respond. I detect and I respond in the name of Jesus. Pray this for your spouse. Pray this for your children. They detect and respond. They recognize what needs to be done and they act accordingly in the name of Jesus. Friends, if you want to detect and respond, and respond, rather, it means you must be attentive. You must be attentive physically and you must also be attentive spiritually. Psalm 32, verse 8 says, I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go. I will guide you with my eyes. This passage reminds me of when we were children. In many situations, our parents did not have to say anything before we knew what to do. Sometimes all they needed to do was look at us. When they looked at us in a certain way, when we saw a certain expression in their face, we knew how to behave. God says, I will guide you with my eye. That means there are instructions that may not always come loudly. There are signals that may not always come with noise. There are directions that require sensitivity. It is good to be attentive in the physical, but we must also be spiritually attentive because the spiritual controls the physical. Many of the things in the physical have already had signals in the spirit. Many things that come upon people physically are connected to missed spiritual signals. So we must declare this morning in the name of Jesus that we are spiritually attentive. Speak that over yourself for a few seconds. You are spiritually attentive. I am spiritually attentive in the name of Jesus. Yes, every instruction of the Lord is received and acted upon. Friends, I also have another observation. Every instruction is pregnant with an expectation. Every signal is pregnant with an expectation. Every observation is pregnant with an expectation. That means every instruction comes with something God expects you to do. Every signal is not just for information, it is for a particular kind of response. You must fulfill the expectation of every instruction. You must fulfill the expectation of every signal. You must fulfill the expectation of every observation. Far be it from you, far be it from me, that the family we lead enters trouble because of our lack of sensitivity. Far be it from us that what has been committed into our hands suffers because we are not attentive. Can you declare this morning? I fulfill the expectation of every instruction. I fulfill the expectation of every signal. Yes, I fulfill the expectation of every observation, every instruction the Lord gives to me, every signal the Lord gives to me, every expectation, every every every every observation that comes to me, I fulfill the expectations in the name of Jesus. Yes. 1 Kings chapter 18, verse 41. The Bible says there, then Elijah said to Ahab, Go up, eat and drink, for there is the sound of abundance of rain. Elijah had something. There is a spiritual attentiveness connected to what we see, and there is also spiritual attentiveness connected to what we hear. You must not just attend meetings for the sake of attending. You must not just be present in gatherings without understanding what God is saying. Everything you hear must make meaning to you. Through what you hear, you must understand what the Lord wants you to do. There is indeed a sound of abundance of rain. When God allows you to hear something, there is an expectation attached to it. You must hear correctly, understand correctly, and respond correctly. Proverbs chapter 22, verse 3 says, A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself, but the simple pass on and are punished. The prudent man does not wait until evil arrives before fully responding. The prudent man foresees and acts. That means prudence is connected to early detection and early response. Why don't you declare this over yourself this morning? That you are prudent, that you are prudent with what you see, you are prudent with what you hear, that you are prudent with every insight you receive, that you fulfill the expectation of every observation. Declare that you leave nothing undone. In the name of Jesus, we leave nothing undone. If God gives us a signal, we respond. If he gives us an instruction, we obey. If he gives us an observation, we act in wisdom in the name of Jesus. Amen. The Bible also speaks in 1 Chronicles chapter 12, verse 32. The Bible speaks of the sons of Issachar who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do. Their chiefs were 200, and all their brethren were at their command. The sons of Issachar, friends, had understanding of the times. They did not only see things, they did not only hear things, they understood seasons. Spiritual attentiveness is beyond visual perception. It is beyond auditory perception. It also includes understanding times and seasons. The sons of Issachar understood the times so well that they knew what Israel ought to do. Their brethren were at their command because insight gave them leadership capacity. You must pray this morning that you understand the times. You must pray that you know what ought to be done. You must pray that every revelation, every insight, every instruction, and every signal produces the right response in your life in the name of Jesus. I declare this money concerning myself. I understand the times. I know what ought to be done. I fulfill the expectation of every revelation. I fulfill the expectation of every insight. I fulfill the expectation of every instruction in the name of Jesus. Psalm 32, verse 9 talks about the horse or the male. Let me read. This is a serious charge. Do not be like the horse or mule that must be forced before it responds. Do not be someone who must be harnessed with beat and bridle before doing what should be done. We prayed earlier about not needing a captain before knowing what to do. Here again, the scripture tells us not to be without understanding. As a result of the spiritual engagement of this spiritual engagement, I declare in the name of Jesus, you are with understanding. You are with understanding. Yes, friends, there will be no need for you to be forced before you do what you're supposed to do. We are spiritually attentive. We take actions early. We are spiritually attentive. We take actions early in the name of Jesus. I learned something also. Isaiah chapter 26, verse 3 says, You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you because he trusts in you. Friends, there is a peace required in your spirit if you will be diligent with signals. There is a peace you need in order to make maximum use of every signal God gives you. If your spirit is noisy, it is very likely that you will not know what to do with the signals that come. A noisy spirit can receive a signal but mishandle it. A distracted heart can hear an instruction but not know how to respond. So we declare this morning in the name of Jesus that the Lord keeps us in perfect peace. I declare I am kept in perfect peace. My mind is stayed on the Lord. My spirit is quiet enough to receive. My heart is stable enough to respond. I know what to do with every signal. My family is kept in perfect peace. My spouse is kept in perfect peace. My children are kept in perfect peace. We are kept in perfect peace so that we can take maximum advantage of every signal from God in the name of Jesus. Yes, thank you, Father. Brethren, the word this morning is simple but waiting. Be spiritually attentive and take action early. Do not let pressure become your captain. Do not wait until deadlines force you to move. Do not be like the horse or mole that must be controlled with beat and bridle. Do not ignore little signals. Do not despise early observation. Do not postpone the instructions of the Lord. The diligent plan early. The prudent foresee and respond. The sons of Issachar understood the times. The ant prepared without pressure. Elijah had the sound of abundance before the rain appeared. I pray for you, may your eyes see clearly. May your ears hear accurately. May your heart understand the times. May your spirit remain in perfect peace. And may every instruction produce obedience in the name of Jesus. I believe you have been blessed by what you heard this morning. Do well to share this peace with anyone you love and care for. I look forward to coming your way again tomorrow. Have an amazing day ahead. God bless you.
