When reality begins to pull your soul in many directions, God's word will give you a holy instruction. Return to rest. The same God who delivered you before is still with you now. And the trouble before you is not greater than the God who has kept you. Good morning and welcome to this episode of Igniting Your Day with Bamidaly on Tobacco. This morning I have a word for someone who has been feeling anxious. Here is the message. Relax. God has saved you from worse things. Relax. God has saved you from bigger troubles. Relax. God has saved you from things you thought were more difficult than this. Relax. God has saved you from more harrowing situations. I do not know exactly what it is in your life that has not allowed you to enjoy perfect peace. Maybe your day is often interrupted by memories that give you unrest. Maybe it's an application you sent and you are still waiting for a reply. Maybe you sent an email to clarify something and the response has not yet come. Whatever it is, relax. Relax. God has saved you from bigger things. God has saved you from greater troubles. He has delivered you from situations that were heavier, deeper, and more threatening than what you are facing now. So relax. Let us begin with the words of Jesus in John chapter 14, verse 27. The Bible says, Peace I live with you. My peace I give to you, not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. Whatever it is you have been waiting for, my friends, let not your heart be troubled. Maybe you are saying he does not really understand, he does not know what I am going through. Oh, he's speaking like this because he's not in my shoes. Well, I may not be in your exact position, but there is something important you need to know. God has saved you from bigger troubles. Jesus said, Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. Let me show you from scripture that God has indeed saved you from bigger troubles. Psalm 116, verse 7 to 11. Psalm 116, verse 7 to 11. The Bible says there, return unto your rest, O my soul, for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee. For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling. I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living. I believed, therefore have I spoken. I was greatly afflicted. I said in my haste, all men are liars. Please pay attention to this text. Return unto thy rest, O my soul. Maybe your soul has been wandering. Maybe your soul has also been wandering. Wandering from one thought to another and wondering how things will turn out. Wonder W A N D E R and Wonder W O N D E R. But the instruction is clear. Return to rest, O my soul. Why? For the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee. In other words, the Lord has been good to you. The psalmist says, Thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from folly. That means the psalmist is remembering the faithfulness of God. He is saying, The Lord has delivered me from bigger troubles. He has delivered my soul from death. He has delivered mine eyes from tears. He has delivered my feet from folly. Then he says, I believed, therefore have I spoken. I was greatly afflicted. And then he says, I said in my haste, All men are liars. That is important. Some of the things we say under pressure are spoken in haste. Some conclusions we draw when we are troubled are not the final truth. Anxiety can make a person speak too quickly, judge too quickly, and imagine too much. I do not know what all men are saying to make you think this morning. I do not know what situations, delays, or disappointments are trying to make you believe. I do not know what fear is trying to plant in your heart, but I come to you with the peace that Jesus gives. Jesus said, Peace I live with you, my peace I give unto you. Not as the world gives, so let not your heart be troubled. This morning there are two instructions you need to give your soul. The first is from 116, verse 7. Return to your rest, O my soul, for the Lord has been good to you. Say it over your life, My soul, return to your rest. The Lord has been good to you. Return to your rest. The Lord has dealt bountifully with you. This is important because the anxious soul does not always remain still. It travels, it follows thoughts, it follows memories, it follows pictures, it follows possibilities. Every time a troubling picture comes, your soul can begin to follow it. You simulate different scenarios in your mind. You imagine what could happen. You imagine what they might say. You imagine what the reply might be. You imagine what the delay might mean. But today, you are giving your soul an instruction. Return to your rest. Stop wandering. Stop following every troubling thought. Stop running after every fearful imagination. Return to your rest. My soul, return to rest from wandering. My soul, return to rest from wandering. My soul, return to rest from anxiety. My soul, return to rest because the Lord has been good to me. Maybe the matter is connected to your children. I still say, return to rest, oh my soul. Maybe it's connected to your husband, your wife, your family, your work, your application, your future, or something you're waiting for. Return to rest, oh my soul. The Lord has been good to you. But there is a second instruction, friends. Yes, you do not only need to tell your soul to return to rest, you also instruct your soul to be still. The Bible says, Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. The Lord of hosts is with us, the God of Jacob is our refuge. Friends, Psalm 116, verse 7 tells your soul to stop wandering and return to rest. Psalm 46, verse 10 tells your soul to be still. Be still. Not because the reading things have stopped, not because every question has been answered, not because every email has been replied, not because every situation has already changed. Be still because God is God. Be still because the Lord of hosts is with us. The Lord who commands the armies of heaven is with us. The one whom no force on earth can shake is with us. The one whom no power can frighten is with us. The one who cannot be overthrown is with us. The Lord of hosts is with us. The God of Jacob is our refuge. That means you have the greatest support any person on earth can have. So this morning, these are the two instructions you give your soul. First, return to your rest, O my soul. Second, be still and know that He is God. Father, in the name of Jesus, I speak to my soul today. My soul returns to rest. I do not know how far my soul has traveled in fear. I do not know how many scenarios my soul has simulated. I do not know how many troubling imaginations my heart has followed, but today I give my soul the instruction of scripture. Return to rest, O my soul. Return to rest from wandering. Return to rest from wandering. Return to rest from fear. Return to rest from anxious thoughts. Return to rest from unnecessary imaginations. The Lord has been good to me. The Lord has delivered me before. The Lord has kept me before. The Lord has brought me through bigger troubles. The Lord has delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, and my feet from falling. Therefore, return to rest, O my soul. Father, I receive the peace that Jesus gives, not the peace that depends on perfect circumstances, but the peace that comes from Christ. Ah, my heart will not be troubled. My heart is not troubled. My heart is not afraid. I speak stillness over my soul. Be still, O my soul, and know that He is God. Be still in the waiting. Be still in the uncertainty. Be still while the answer is yet to come. Be still while the matter is still unfolding. Be still because the Lord of hosts is with me. The God of Jacob is my refuge. Father, we thank you this morning because we are not alone. We thank you because you are with us. We thank you because you have saved us from bigger things. And we thank you because you have brought us through bigger things, and you are still faithful even now. We receive your peace today in Jesus' name. Amen. Let me resound this encouragement to you again, friends. Relax. God has saved you from bigger things. Relax. God has kept you before. Relax. God has delivered you before. Relax. God has brought you through heavier situations than this. Let your soul return to rest. Let your heart be still. The Lord of hosts is with you. The God of Jacob is your refuge. So today, take one specific anxious thought and pray over it with this declaration. Return to your rest, oh my soul, for the Lord has been good unto you. My dear friends, I look forward to coming your way again. I wish you today an amazing, amazing, amazing day ahead. God bless you.
