Have you ever been listening to music and it speaks to you so deeply that you're moved to tears? Have you ever completely lost yourself in a song and you felt like you were transported to another world? Have you ever been thinking about someone you lost, and then the song you used to sing together comes on the radio? And it feels like they're right there with you? Have you ever seen music bring back the spark in someone's eyes? Have you ever gone to a concert or made music with other people live and suddenly felt overwhelmingly moved by a sense of community? I like to call these experiences magical moments with music.

Wren

Hi, my name is Wren, and I'm a musician and a board-certified music therapist. I get to bear witness to magical moments like this every day. I get to see people moved by music and create space for people to use music to feel seen and heard and create change in their lives. I've been on a journey of unpacking my own fears, insecurities, and perfectionism as a musician, and have been forging a new path for my relationship with music. My relationship with music is one that I will have until the day I die, and it's as important to me as every other relationship in my life. While on this journey, I found myself wanting to tap into the magic of music with others through conversation and music making. To make music for the sake of making music. Music is beautiful, enigmatic, powerful, complex, vulnerable, and at times painful. Music meets us in our most joyous and most sorrowful moments. Music connects people in ways that words cannot. Music makes us feel human. Throughout this podcast, you will get to hear stories and music that show the power that music holds to create change for good.
