Good afternoon, everyone, and welcome to another episode of The Vintage Five. This is where we give you a quick five-minute recap of where we are today in sports. Well, it's the day after the World Cup, and I don't know how long that hangover lasts. I think for most Americans, uh soccer, or you could call it football, uh really it's like a magic brownie high. It'll probably fade off within the next 24 to 48 hours, and that'll be that. And see you in four years. Obviously, golf clap to Spain. Nice string. You played marvelously, you had great defense, you eventually put a goal in. Uh, but if you look at this game, and I thought Argentina would win because you know, bet against icons and messy and it got hairy late at the end, but it didn't happen. So that's that. Uh stat-wise, pretty much it was dominance by Spain. They had 67% of the possession time, so that's two-thirds. They had 11 shots on goal compared to wait for it, zero by Argentina. And this game went into you know the extra time. The first 15 was nothing, second 15 was when the goal was scored, and I think everybody knew it was pretty much over at that point. And really, passes, 698 passes versus 301 for Argentina. That's just insanity. But I'm gonna take a different sway here for a few minutes. Let's talk about what could make this game better. And this is coming from obviously spoiled American me. And I think we all have ADD here, and to watch zero-zero games and one-zero games, it's just it's a snoozer. And I heard somebody um eloquently say this morning, well, what about a one-nothing pitcher's duel in baseball? And that's a good point, except baseball has become boring in an ADD 2026. And this is from somebody old enough, a la vintage in the title here, to love baseball. It was in my DNA. It was my first sport, it was probably still my favorite sport, although hockey's become a close second. But baseball doesn't thrill the now generation. They can't watch nine innings. Maybe they'll put it on in the eighth inning if it's tied or it's close or something like that. But who watches nine innings anymore? No, nobody under the age of 25 can watch a nine inning baseball game. So, what could soccer do you have to do it? There's just, I mean, they're running into each other, they do the worst acting, they all did it, they all deserve Academy Awards, but it's the most phony acting out there. They're running into each other, they're tripping each other. Open up the field a little more, just like you open up the ice in hockey. Okay, even if you didn't want to do that. When you get to those two 15 minutes, first of all, make them sudden death. If you score in the first one, you don't need the second one. And same thing like hockey, take one or two of them off the field, open it up. It's just it's just too much. Okay. So, I mean, that's really all I have to say because this could go way longer than making it just a minute five. But what about that? Any comments on that? So let me know. Make sure you uh you've joined us, follow us, and respond to us uh if you think I'm crazy or if you totally agree with me. And we will see you soon. Take care.
