I I woke up to the sound of Claire screaming. The whole house smelled like dirt, like fresh turned soil. I ran to Jacob's room. He he was still there, but his window was wide open. Muddy footprints led inside. I've been running all over the house. I've been checking. Everywhere. The attic. Closets under beds. It's like I'm like I'm looking for the fucking boogeyman. I am, aren't I? We packed bags. We were leaving, but but when we got to the front door, it was locked. Not just the deadbolt. The chain. The sliding locks. Ones we never even use. They were all latched from the inside. I don't I don't know if if I'm making sense. But we're locked in. Something locked us in. Something locked us in to our own fucking house. Something didn't want us to leave. It's in the house now. It's here. It's in here with us. It's just like the recording from the library. This is it.
