From Black Pinewood Audio, this is Unburied Voices. And I'm your host, Clayton Chance. Tonight's episode is unlike anything we've ever covered before. Two months ago, a forty something Mark Adler disappeared alongside his wife, Claire, and their young son, Jacob, after a fire destroyed their home in Mound, Minnesota.

No bodies were ever recovered. Authorities initially suspected murder suicide. Though investigators later walked back that theory due to what one internal report described as unusual structural findings beneath the property.

Since then, leaked recordings allegedly captured by Mark Adler himself have spread online like wildfire. Most people dismiss them immediately. The ramblings of a paranoid man unraveling mentally. But after reviewing the available evidence, interviewing neighbors, and obtaining partial emergency transcripts through public record requests, I'm not so sure anymore.

According to multiple witnesses, Mark Adler became convinced that something was watching his family from the woods behind their home.

Mark was a good man. A family man. Those last few days, he he wasn't himself. You could see it in the way he carried himself. Jumpy, looking over his shoulder. Not to be dramatic, but it was like he was being hunted.

His son, Jacob, reportedly drew dozens of disturbing pictures in the weeks before the fire. Most of those colorfully drawn images depicted what police described as a tall humanoid figure composed of roots, mud, and exposed teeth. One drawing included a sentence written repeatedly across the page. He lives below. Then there are the tunnels. Officially, authorities deny extensive tunnel systems were discovered beneath the Adler property, let alone around the entire Three Points Peninsula. Unofficially, three separate contractors refused excavation work after reporting sounds beneath the ground. One claimed he heard crying. Another described movement in the dirt. And then there's this. Three days after announcing this episode online, I received a package with no return address. Inside was a rotten radish, wrapped in damp newspaper. No note, no explanation. Just dirt. Next week, we listened to those supposedly leaked recordings recovered from Mark Adler's last days.
