The DM Sales Gal: Close Sales in DMs with Instagram Stories, Lead Generation & High-Ticket Sales Strategies
This Founder Made $130K in 15 Months Selling on Threads (Here's How) | Ep 16

Guys selling on Threads is the next best kept secret, and today I am going to share how you can land high ticket sales with a click of a Threads post.
Today I'm sitting down with Taylor Lane, and we're pulling back the curtain on the exact strategy we've been teaching inside our Skip the Sales Call Challenge. We break down how we're using Threads, Instagram Stories, and DM sales to consistently attract leads, build trust, and close clients—without spending our calendars on Zoom.
After three weeks of testing this strategy with over 140 business owners, we wanted to share what actually worked, what surprised us most, and why we believe Threads is one of the biggest opportunities for business owners right now.
If you've been wondering how to turn your content into conversations—and those conversations into paying clients—this episode is for you.
In This Episode:
- Why Threads sales are creating some of the highest-intent leads I've seen
- How I use Instagram Stories to answer objections before someone ever DMs me
- Why I stopped relying on endless discovery calls
- The exact funnel we're using: Threads → Instagram Stories → DM Sales
- The four types of Instagram Story content that consistently bring in buyers
- How to create content that starts the conversations you actually want to have
- Why your marketing should answer the same questions you'd normally answer on a sales call
- How Taylor built a six-figure business by becoming known for one thing on Threads
- The daily 30-minute sales routine we're both using
- The real revenue results we've seen from this strategy
What We Talk About
One of the biggest mindset shifts I've had is realizing that my content should do the same job my sales calls used to do.
Instead of answering the same questions over and over on discovery calls, I create content that educates my audience before they ever reach my DMs. By the time someone messages me, they're already informed, qualified, and usually just have one or two final questions before they're ready to buy.
Taylor shares how she built a six-figure business through Threads by creating content that attracts the right people, builds community, and naturally leads them over to Instagram where the conversations—and sales—happen.
Together, we show you how to build a simple sales system that works without spending your life on Zoom.

SPEAKER_01If your Instagram stories and your Instagram DMs are pretty 16K hot and steamy leads, and you're not exactly at the sales pool you want to be at for this quarter, I've got you. Hey sales friends, I'm Alyssa, your cheap sales gal. I've been in business for 11 years and I currently run a done for you lead generation and lead management agency with Instagram DM. I'm about to show you guys all of the juicy sales things on Instagram, Instagram stories to get new leads, and closing sales in the DM sale and sales vault. So let's get into all of the juicy details. Hi guys, this is Melissa of the DM Sales Gal podcast. I'm so excited to host my very first guest podcast episode with Taylor Lane. We're gonna have this on both of our podcasts. I will introduce myself in a minute, but we're super pumped because Taylor Lane and I just did a three-week challenge called Skip the Sales Call, and we did it for the very first time. And it was all about threads to Instagram stories to DM sales. So we're gonna tell you guys the download on how everything went for the last three weeks and how you can use threads and stories and DM sales to close more sales this summer. And for those of you that are new to me, my name is Alyssa Moorhead. I've been in business for 11 years. I am from Louisville, Kentucky, then New York City and Brooklyn, now Denver, Colorado. I've pretty much done everything that there is to do around sales. And now I have a Done For You Leads agency where we do lead generation and lead management mostly on Instagram, but also some email, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc. So I will hand it over to Taylor so she can introduce herself to my audience and we will get into all of the details.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'm so excited we're gonna have this on both of our podcasts. That's so amazing. So I'm Taylor Lane, I run the Threads Marketing Agency and I'm a business coach. Um, so I grew up in Connecticut in the US, and I now live in Guatemala. I'm glad that Alyssa, you just shared your location and kind of your like moving story because I feel like both of us are prime examples of what you can do when you don't live in your hometown anymore. I freaking love that.
SPEAKER_01Um living in Floydville too. I'm so happy that I was there and got a lot of greatness out of it and am not there anymore. So yeah.
SPEAKER_00Exactly, exactly. I know probably a lot of people listening are like, yep, moved as far away as possible. So yeah, I've been running the agency for a year now. And um, when I connected with you and you were like, we should do something on how threads and Instagram fits together. I was immediately obsessed, like obsessed with you, but also like obsessed with the idea. And it's it's summer, like right now when we're recording this, it's July 28th, and we were like, we want to do something for the summer. We want to get the girls together and we want to make sure that they have a sales plan. Like, what is the daily sales activity? So, and also you had just started really um talking a lot and owning the the topic of like skipping the sales call and how you don't have to do that. And I'm like, Yeah, literally, I do not do sales calls for, I mean, I have a 3K service right now, it's about to be $4,000 um starting on August 4th. And um, you won't catch me on a sales call. And I really don't believe that you need them only if I feel like only if it really fits the person's business and the person's sales flow. So we were like, okay, how do we combine our geniuses from from Instagram stories and DM sales and threads? And then also, how do we get people to understand you can do this 30 minutes a day, like less or less, right? Um, and you don't have to lead people to a sales call, you can literally just close in in the DM. So that's how this whole thing was born.
SPEAKER_01Ah, yeah, when I and when I found Taylor too, I feel like we're talking about our like meet cute, but basically, yep. When uh actually, like some of my best friends I've met on threads, and the stories are like verging on the ridiculous. Like when I met my friend Megan Wall on Threads, and we became pals, we knew we would work together, she was gonna be my CFO, and I was like, I'm gonna go down to Buttfuck, Alabama to Mobile and go to this awesome girls' conference. And do you want to share a really fancy hotel room? So she like walked in on me like pantsless in the hotel room. That's the first time we met from threads, and it's been love, been love ever since. But, anyways, yeah, I'm so excited that I met Taylor. Taylor is like the threads mogul. You know, we've had all these trends come up. I've I've been around a while. We've had all these trends come up. There was reels, there was threads, there was TikTok, there was uh all of these other things that I can't remember, but somebody who's new trial reels, somebody who's able to take a new feature of a platform and turn it into a business model is a pretty big deal. Like you had to have known you had to have known that this and same with fucking Instagram stories a long time ago. Like I just knew that was gonna be it for me to do these like short one-minute clips whenever I wanted. It didn't have to be a long involved copy process, design process, long form video. Everybody wanted to get into more YouTube, etc. etc. But yeah, turning like a feature of Instagram into your business model and then scaling it into an agency and making the sales was the the impetus here. So a few quick details on skip the sales call because Taylor has really good wins to share too. And we want to go over, you know, why we're doing what we're doing, how it's helped us and the people in the challenge, and how you guys can do it too, as well as as a brief overview. So we ran this challenge, it was three weeks long, it was a free challenge. I haven't done a challenge probably in a couple of years. I was doing like a challenge for Legion inside of my like group programs before it led to those before, but we did this three-week challenge. Taylor, as I was saying, turned threads, which is an Instagram feature, into a business model, and also she has owned the market, which is a pretty big fucking deal in and of itself. Every time someone says threads, they say Taylor in lots of different places and on threads. So we did this three-week challenge, we got 140 people into the challenge and got to answer so many questions with people on threads and Instagram stories and DM sales. Me and Taylor have chatted lots and lots with you all listening and those of you we haven't gotten to chat with yet, but we chatted with lots of you all who were in the challenge. We did live calls, we did threads prompts, stories prompts, DM prompts, and getting your feedback in the DMs. I was watching in real time of people getting leads through threads and then doing Instagram stories to convert them and then getting inbound DMs from people going from threads to stories to DM sales. And Taylor brought up a really good point, too. And the the last thing I'll say in this intro is I wanted this to be like summer timely, skip the sales call exactly for this reason. People are so busy, and we still want sales coming in. And I got into just like a pit of despair at the end of 2024, 2024, I think. I got into this pit of despair where I'd gotten into this new membership, and I I love it. I just got another $9,000 client from it and three more leads from it this morning. I love it for that, but there was this like kind of curse for me of getting on the coffee chats. So guy got onto coffee chat, discovery call, sales call, combine them all together, like fucking 50 of them, over the like last quarter of that year of 2024 and decided I couldn't do it anymore. I was wasting so much time when you're a business owner, and I'm gonna get to this too, but we just passed almost $25,000 cash months. You have to look at where your time is being spent. And if I put a 40-hour work week into something that has made zero dollars, it's it's probably not gonna keep happening. So I did all these calls where people wanted to pick my brain, but also said they wanted to buy something and really they wanted free advice, whether they even knew that or not. And I keep getting like just assassinated for this on thread. So take it with a grain of salt. But I don't need that much external support right now, aside from my team and my business besties and my referral partners, etc. And I love when people send referrals and I give great referral fees. But when I'm on a call with someone for something that I'm paying someone $4,000 a month for already, I don't need that much because I'm already paying pretty extensively for what they're providing or that department of my business. So I gave and gave and gave a lot, and I'm glad that I did, but I just couldn't do it anymore and have realized that when we focused just on DM sales and publicized it, that has been able to like have more deals closed more quickly and higher volume. Like we can sign two or three forty five hundred dollar clients in a day in the DMs, and we've collapsed how much time it takes and the duration it takes, and we're just signing more faster. And the fun part, too, no one fucking even asked for a sales call. One, because I have a whole program named off of not doing it. Two, I make content on why I don't want to do it. But three, they had all that they needed through the content, the stories, and the DMs. So maybe one person out of one or two people out of ten will ask for a sales call if it's like a ten thousand dollar plus deal.
SPEAKER_00So, anyways, I'll hand it over to Taylor and she can intro that last part is so important what you said, because the they already had everything they needed. That's what your marketing should do. And I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but so many people are leaning on sales calls as a crutch. Don't even get me started about using sales calls as your lead magnet. I will die on this recording in front of everyone. You guys, oh man, oh man, oh man. So, yeah, your sales call is not the place to leave everything that you should have said in your marketing to work out with somebody and repeat it over and over and over and over again. Alyssa is so good at this. If you go into our, like when we did the challenge, you go into the workbook and you look at the IG story prompts, and it's literally the things that you would answer on an ideal client sales call. But guess what? You're doing like a big group sales call. You're and you're doing it daily. You're showing up, you're showing your face, and you're talking to them like they are already a prospect, already a lead, and you're answering their questions, and you that is gonna do so much more for your brand, for your business. Guess what? Then other people can refer you and not just know what you do, but how uniquely you do it. I have been repeating that like over and over again, and I'm like becoming obsessed with my own phrase because that like you need to do this stuff in public. You can't, it cannot always be behind a sales call wall. And then let me get to you other people who are using your sales call as a lead magnet. Absolutely not. Wrong answer. You need new people, you need as many intros to new people as you can get. That's why I love threads, and that's that was my part of this get the sales call challenge. Was okay, how do we get new eyes to what do you post on threads to get new eyes over to your Instagram stories so that new people and your most warm people and hottest people are reminded to go and watch your Instagram stories, right? And then you can convert from there. So when I when you when you think about getting introduced to as many people as possible, a sales call is way too much to ask. It already, it's like it's like solution aware. First of all, we go back to sales psychology, like problem unaware, problem aware, right? And then like solution unaware, solution aware. So you're going to the fourth freaking step, and then you're you're telling me that that's that's how you collect leads. That's no ma'am. You need a step before that, you need top of funnel. Oh, I love this. Okay, so that's why I am all about skipping the sales call because if you actually do your top of funnel work and then it and you do that out in public, please, because your top of funnel is not your sales call. So I don't need to say any more about that because I could make this whole podcast about that. But then in the in the um, in your kind of like moving the person along to being more solution aware and to being like, oh, maybe I'm considering this, then your Instagram story should be talking about every single thing that you would be talking about on the sales call. And that's exactly the prompts that you gave us. Um, I loved doing the the three weeks and seeing the whole group. First of all, you and I both said, like, you just never know how a collaboration is gonna go. Let's first of all talk about that. You just never know how a collaboration is gonna go. And like you and I are just so on the same page. We're very efficient, we're very um smart, we're we just like think about things the way they need to be done, and we don't like over um formalize things. I love that about you because that is so me. And and then when we're getting on the call, we did a QA call style, and we had 140 people in the challenge, so we were pretty sure we're gonna get a bunch of people on these three weekly calls. And you and I were like, let's answer people's questions and let's let them inside our brain, literally. And people were like, Oh my god, I love listening to you two talk. It was so freaking fun. And now we have both of us leads galore for the thing that we're selling. So, like, I'm so happy that that we did this challenge, and also I'm totally gonna do one with another one of my my business friends in the fall because I'm like, why do we always do like bundles and freebie swaps and all this stuff that are just like kind of like one-hit wonders, if you will? And then, or you could go deep with like someone you really resonate with and your your offers complement each other, like that's what we were showing people that they could get found on threads and then they could convert in Instagram stories and DM sales. So our our things just fit so perfectly together, and we're gonna talk about our own individual results too, because like I was up, I was on threads, but I wasn't doing my Instagram stories, and so I was missing out on a lot of sales and a lot of action. And you were doing your Instagram stories and DM sales, but you needed threads, and then you popped off on there. So I'm so excited to get all into this, but yeah, can we talk a little bit about that? Like collabs, so fun, but you never know what you're gonna get, truly.
SPEAKER_01Oh my gosh, just such a like a robust envelopment of all the things that we're gonna talk about. You did such a good job, yeah. I I love that about Taylor too for collabs. So I yeah, I just in business something noteworthy too. I always put out there, like I'm sober almost four years now, and I just don't have time to waste. And women with families or single women or elder relatives that they're caring for, we need to keep making money, you know. And I also work with a camp of women where they make money because they want to keep making money and keep helping people. But a lot of us, like, I'm 34 as of July 10th this month. Like, I want to keep accruing wealth by helping more people, which means I help my family, my community, I have more time to volunteer, I can donate funds, I can support my family, etc. So we need to make money. And when I want to get something done, it's like people aren't waiting around for it, they actually need this help now. So I love that we could just like get in and make it happen. And I just came off the back of oh god, like a two and a half or three month stretch of doing Instagram stories collabs, which is another like collab type that I made up. Nobody was like, let's do podcasts, and then I was doing podcasts, like I just fucking made it up because I love Instagram stories and I knew I could get other people doing them, get them on my feed to share their experience with others, and then vice versa. And not all of those were as easy at for like a 15-minute Instagram stories recording as our three-week-long challenge. So I'm so excited we got to do that too. A couple of notes too on what Taylor said on the sales content piece. I would say, like, I mean, my Instagram stories formula into the DMs, the purpose is that we eradicate sales calls if you don't want them. And then I have clients that are signing $10,000, $15,000, $20,000 deals with co-founders. Then I'll do a sales call because we need like four people in one place for like 45 minutes. That makes sense. We're not gonna do it in a group chat and like crunch a hundred numbers for their lead-end proposal. So, anyways, but I think for sales content and speaking of like skipping the sales call and what people need to see to inquire, to engage, to move themselves down the buyer's journey for my Instagram stories and my carousels is really important to note too. My Instagram stories are like living and breathing every single day, but I would say threads are like the appetizer, and then you have like a main course of your carousels that can give a shitload of information. Anyone can see it at any point in time, and then my stories are like the dessert and go really granular into like little nitty-gritty things, like daily client wins, questions I got in the DMs 10 minutes ago, etc. That's kind of how I see the funnel in my own like food words, because I am excited for lunch later. So that's probably why that analogy. But on the sales content recipe, what I was doing in the challenge and the prompts the Taylor referred to, and having others do in the challenge, so I have an eight ingredient sales content recipe, and the purpose of that is to get people, I say about 99% of the way to buying. So when someone like Annie comes to me in the DMs this morning, Annie's a podcast listener, so hey Annie. But when Annie comes to me in the DMs this morning and says, Hey, I'm pretty sure I want to work with you. I listened to this, that another, I watched the stories, I looked at the carousel. Can you answer two questions? That's that's what I want. I want people that are self-led smart women that know how to make a buying decision, that looked at the shit, retained it, and asked smart questions. Those are my buyers. So to get there, a few of the most highly converting pieces of the sales content recipe, when you have people sniffing around that you think might be interested, FAQs is a really big one to cover. So the questions that Annie and others launched, or Annie and others have asked in the DMs like, well, I'm launching in August. How soon do I need to start with you? Or I've had a live launch, but I want to make it recurring. How would LeadGen fit into that? We still have a bunch of leads that didn't buy from before. What do we do now? Those are FAQs. That's not on my sales page. It's too granular. If I put every single question I got in the DMs, in a sales call, in a proposal, whatever it is, an application form, if we put every question of FAQs that we get from a sales conversation, our sales pages would be 10 pages long. And then when we make it really overarching, it's too broad, it's too vague, it's not in their language. So the FAQs are a really big one that I pull from the DMs. And if can I ask you something about that? Yeah, yeah, go ahead.
SPEAKER_00Okay. What would you say to people who don't have those questions coming in? Because what I think when people say, like, people aren't DMing me asking me that. People aren't asking, I have a launch coming up, and so when should I start with you? And I'm my like my answer to that would be because you're not in your Instagram stories and you're not on your feed and you're not on threads talking about the logistics of your offer and what someone could do in that time frame. Like you're not doing the things we just talked about. You're waiting for sales calls to be booked to get into all the juicy details that would make someone go, Oh, you're oh, okay. So if I wanted to work with you, would it be like this? Like, that's what I think you need to do to trigger people to even ask you those questions.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you have to be starting the conversations you want to lead in your content. People think that, you know, people think that they're gonna be in the DMs and then Taylor seems cool. I want to sell to her. Let me make a switch and like jekle and hide it, put on my saleswoman baseball cap and then pin at you. It doesn't need to be like that. I've done that maybe like three times out of thousands in 11 years. Like, I went to this awesome gal who's very well known in our industry, Jordan, and I was like, I love what you're doing. You have big goals, I would love to help with this. I would do this. What do you think? She said yes, and she paid that day. I pitched her. That's the one person I can remember pitching in 11 years. Everybody else, I'm doing like consultative ethical sales. My content is starting the conversations I want to have so that we can naturally get to that part. And we have another podcast episode on the Live step DM sales woe. That one people really like when they're trying to figure this out. But to go back, if you're not getting those questions, I'd ask you to go back to like I don't know, seventh or eighth grade when we took like grammar and shit in school and reframe how you frame a question. If I tell Taylor, I'm gonna make some shit up. If I tell Taylor, like I have a bunch of boxes in my office, I don't know if I could actually redecorate, like I don't really know when is the right time to do this. We moved three months ago. We do have a fuckload of boxes in my office, but I didn't ask you a line that had a question mark after it, but there's a question in there. If I go to Taylor and I say, Taylor, I mean, I've been on threads and like I'm not really getting that much reach. My followers aren't growing. When I post, nobody answers and I feel ghosted. Like, I just don't get it. I don't think this will work for me. There's a fuckload of questions in there. Number one would be well, I've been posting on threads, but I don't feel like my reach is growing. What should I do? Just change the language around like the sentence structure. There are questions in there. Number two, anybody who's bought your offer or others like it said something about their buying decision, why this will work for them, why they're nervous it won't work for them, why they paid someone else before and it didn't work out. You can frame those into questions. If you really feel like you've on your specific offer you're selling, if you really feel like you've never had a sales conversation in the DMs or a sales call with an ideal buyer, I would get people under market research calls or just do market research in the DMs. Hey, Taylor, I'm thinking of launching my new skip-the-sales call program. I'm curious if you would answer these three questions for me. And I'd love to, you know, do you a favor back and help you out with anything I can or give you a tip on your next content story idea, whatever it is. But they're there. We just need to know how to look for them. Usually you already have questions in your DMs or your past sales calls transcripts. If not, you want to make content that starts those, and you can do market research calls, sales calls, etc.
SPEAKER_00I love that you just said that when you said like start the conversations you want to have. And I can literally see it happening when you make a thread or you make an Instagram story that says what somebody else has never said to you, what you know one person is thinking, but like 40 other people are definitely also thinking it and considering it. That's when those people you make that story, you make that thread, and then everybody starts commenting or replying to you on Instagram and saying, like, oh yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking. So in my situation, it's like this like you trigger them to start thinking what you want them to think about and how you want them to be talking with you and communicating with you about the possibility of you being the expert to help them. I love that so much. Okay, keep keep going. You were talking about like what other things we should post in Instagram stories.
SPEAKER_01Okay, FAQ news is a big one. Honestly, like when we first started this challenge, I thought that some of what I was doing would be applicable to threads. Now, uh IDK, I don't know. I have to go back and look at some of my best threads and see what my type content types are after doing the full thing. I know I told Taylor some of them, and I have to go back and see what I said to you, of which ones are doing the best. Um, but for Instagram stories specifically, you're making content where back up just for one minute. Number one, the three carousels I want people to have on their feed, and you can rotate these. They don't have to stay there for the rest of your natural life. But three carousels I would put at the top of your feed so that everybody who comes to you knows what you do. You don't you don't have to think like, oh, I'm gonna put this carousel out. I'm hard pitching people. No, but people should know what Taylor's offer is. If I see Taylor and I think she's cool as shit, what can I buy from her? Which is how in my current era of business I think. I really like Taylor, she's smart. How can I spend my money on her? I want to know immediately what I'm looking for. Does she have a group program? Does she have a course? Does she do one-on-one? Does she do consults? How can you help me? So at the top of your Instagram, I would put a carousel on your offer so people know how that help is provided. I would put an FAQ's carousel and I would put a client stories carousel. That could be on one client or it could be on multiple clients. And I can chat with you guys about all those details. You can DM me and ask, we have templates and such for it, like carousel templates. That's what I put on the top of the feed so that people come from Taylor's great threads, see them on the top of my feed for a second, immediately go to my stories. If they like it, they might go back to the feed and then they're gonna DM me. So those three are at the top of the feed, offer FAQ client story one or multiple. Then in your stories, what I found lately that's doing the very best for conversions, both like people I'm already talking to as well as people doing inbound inquiries. FAQs is a really good one uh to call out Annie again, or to call out Blake, or to call out Sandra, who I was all talking to this morning. I have like five FAQs from each of those conversations today alone. So I'll put those in stories in the next day or two for more people that are asking. And then number two, when is it the right time to work with you? This goes into an FAQ, but it's so important. So many people tell me about Taylor. Our new client, Charlotte, told me an hour ago, oh my god, Taylor's so fucking awesome. I see everybody is hiring her. We're hiring you, and then I want to hire Taylor next. Do you know when would be the right time? When is the right time to hire Taylor for threads? When is the right time? When is not the right time? It's what you can put in your content. Client stories, if you walk people through a Disney arc in your Instagram stories, that does really well. Taylor started here, she wanted to achieve this. This is what she was going through that was stopping her. We did this. Here's how it turned out, that kind of vibe. And then the last one would be like one of our challenge members does this really well. Um, but the last one would be like making real life analogies to your work. So she was talking about how she used to like Diet Coke and now likes Coke, and she couldn't figure out why. And it reminded her of when she starts a group program and you're excited about everything, but once you do it for a while, you can figure out, oh, I fucking hate these things. Here's how I hire and what that role is going to be. So, real life analogy is like someone posting, here's why I hate the ops of my group program, is totally different than someone posting, here's how Diet Coke versus Coke made me realize I fucking hate the ops of my group program. That's memorable. I don't remember everything she talked about, but I remember Diet Coke versus Coke, and I can go back and find that content piece because she said it that way. So that's four FAQs, when to hire you, client stories, and then like real life anecdotes, analogies of what you're doing in your daily life. Um, so that's a sales content piece in your carousels and your stories. What do you think for threads gets people from the threads to the stories? I think a lot of our people are on one step and not all of them. I think a lot of people are on threads trying to write stuff. Maybe they're engaging a little, but they tell me they're tired and then they're skipped the stories part or they just started but they're not consistent and they're not DMing people from their stories. So if we start at the beginning to get people from threads to stories, like if I wake up tomorrow and I want to know Taylor's top four best practices of WTF to do, what do I do on there? Because it's a jungle up in there. It's crazy.
SPEAKER_00It is so crazy. And people who aren't used to the pace on threads, the culture, every platform has its culture, right? And like threads is a culture shock. It's like, are we really doing this? Are we really saying this? Is this really going on? People are really like airing their laundry out here and like doing it like 10 times a day. Okay, so here's what you here's what you should do. You should go on threads and you should um call in your community. Literally think of threads as like all of your possible ideal audience and ideal clients that are like all over the world and you want their little pins like all over the globe to light up when you use the megaphone and call out to them, like ping, ping, ping, ping, ping, ping, ping. Okay. So if you make content that is not actually speaking to literally saying the keywords of their identities, they're not gonna be able to light up and know that you're talking to them. So we're seeing this on Instagram too. It's on Instagram, people are calling it identity maxing. And I'm like, I've been doing this on threads for literally 15 months, and that's why I, you know, have made over now I've made over 130k cash since starting on threads, um 15 months. And it's because I always call out and call in my ideal audience using those identity keywords, so it would be like something like this: like I'll literally pull up my threads and what I um am posting in the next like 24 hours because I was just in on threads and doing a thread session. So I'm doing like pull out little corners of your audience. Mine's gonna do this. Looking for the biz owners who see the yap challenge and go, yeah, duh dah duh, no thanks. Yapping on threads with my two thumbs, baby. Been doing it, stay doing it. You are my people. Let's be friends. You need one post like that every single day, and every single day you're gonna call it call out something different in your audience. The next day I'm gonna do one that says, Moms who still wake up with their babies one to three times per night and manage to run a business. Hi, twin, you are incredible in all caps. Let's be friends. You need to do these once per day. If you are a client of my agency, we do three threads per day, and one per day is always community call-in. So that should be a very big signal to you that like I'm not just telling you to do this. This is what works across so many niches. And if you cannot pull out different corners of your audience and know like what those identity keywords would be, um, you gotta sit down and do that work. You gotta know it. It's like it's like going back to the basics and business of like you have to know your ideal client, like the back of your hand. And I want you to think not just ideal client, but ideal audience as well. They don't have to be aware of your thing yet, but you want them in your audience, and then what the culture is talk about culture, platform culture, is people check out your threads profile and then they click the Instagram icon on next to your face in your threads profile and go check out your Instagram. And what Elizabeth and I were talking about is me as Exhibit A, when you have amazing uh identity keywords popping off, getting you seen on threads, and people checking you out, they go over to your Instagram and you do not have that red circle around your face because you have not done Instagram stories, it's like wah wah wah, they cannot connect with you. They have to go scroll your feed, and it's just different than having a story there from the last 24 hours, where not of not of like b-roll, not of a static image of you actually talking to the camera, doing the things that Alyssa had just said. That is that is why we created this, and that is why I now do it as my daily routine. And Alyssa does it as her. Like, we are popping off in both places, and I want you all to know that it really works, and it's simple, it's repeatable, and it goes with how people are naturally acting um on these platforms. Threads to Instagram, they check out your stories, and then you you know you get them replying because you are actually doing face-to-camera stories, um, and then you can close them in the DMs.
SPEAKER_01Taking like so many notes while Taylor is talking to to get back to you guys. Um, also, of course, like you guys are gonna have this podcast to listen to, and Taylor has resources she can share, and I have a lead tracker and resources I can share, and you guys can come ask us anything in the DMs. Okay, notes. First of all, we're gonna get into this next. Let's let's finish maybe briefly what we like did in the challenge, and then I want you like I want Taylor and I to be able to share what's possible for you guys of what we did from the last few weeks. First of all, in terms of like Instagram stories, it is like literally the equivalent of showing up. You know how like all of us women entrepreneurs have our fucking buzzwords and we use them until they're meaningless. We say connections, we say visibility, we say just show up. Instagram stories is literally you showing up. I've like, you know, debated myself with this all year if I should like wear a bra when I'm on Instagram Stories or like not wear the same sweatshirt for three days in a row. No, I don't give a fuck. I'm comfortable, which makes me confident this is how I am. My clients who work with me will likely not see me wear a bra. Like, I'm gonna show up however I look and I'm there for my audience. And it's not just like another content type. And I'm not saying this to defend it, although I will, because 99% of our sales over 11 years have come from Instagram stories, and you can do it in five to seven minutes a day. Taylor and I have this is a big part of the challenge too. Ideally, for your summertime, threads, Instagram stories, and DM sales should take you 30 minutes a day. And then you can do more if you want, and you can break it up if you want. You could do some in the morning, some in the afternoon, whatever times of day you can. And we kind of discern during the challenge too, you probably want to do the stories first so that when you post the threads, they're immediately there and people can go over to them. And then you want to be DMing people from the stories. But for me, Instagram stories is literally the equivalent of showing up as yourself because you're there that day. People are looking for what you're working on now. I see people that are active on Instagram that haven't posted for like three to six months, which is totally their prerogative. But I don't even know if you're like working right now. I have no fucking idea if you're even around. I'll hire someone who's like making stories or posting regularly because I know businesses are focused to them. And I haven't really been able to dissuade myself from that thinking. I actually thought when we started with threads, Taylor, I might get you like hot and bothered about this, but I actually thought when we first started with threads that all of the like call-out threads I saw were just women being lazy. That's all that I thought. That's all that I thought because I thought like if Taylor wants to find coaches or off OBMs, she could go search Instagram or threads and find them, but that doesn't tell you who's active on Instagram, who's engaging with content, who wants to make moves in their business. I thought it was like kind of all bullshit. Or I did it.
SPEAKER_00That's so good. That's so good because other people are thinking that. Other people are thinking that, and they're also thinking, oh, it's engagement bait. Oh, you know, what what is this person gonna do with, you know, this list of people that's like commenting or whatever? I'll tell you what I'm gonna do with it. I'm gonna get them over to my Instagram and I'm gonna sell them. And also they're gonna follow me on threads, and they are they're gonna okay, like in between all of the community call-in posts are educational posts, are bold angles, like mic drop moments, I call them, and and they are there. Like I teach threads, and before I taught, you know, just general business, right? But business tips and uh sales and marketing. So all of those are such great um, you know, conversion pieces of content and giving value and serving, but whose eyeballs are gonna be on them if you do not do some community call-ins? It's like trial reels for Instagram, it's exactly like the premise of trial reels and why everyone says on trial reels, what you should do is you should put as many identity maxing keywords in in the text hook as possible, and then the caption should only be like like hi, I'm Taylor, I'm a mom of two, and I've I've you know, blah blah blah on threads. And if you want to know more about that, definitely come over and follow me. That's what every trial reels expert will tell you to do. Why? Because you just want one feature, one platform to be your high discoverability, and then you can do your selling and you can do do your converting um the way that you've been doing it. And and that's what I 100% uh recommend. But it's so good for you to be like, when you again, if you hop on threads, you're gonna be like, I'm really not sure what's going on here. Um, it is your secret weapon, though. And now after doing, why don't you talk about your results now? After going on threads, just in investing in it, putting your own spin on it, putting your own energy into it. And even with when we had this idea for the for the skip the sales call challenge, you just opened your mouth right away, as as you and I are both, we're so aligned in that sense. You went on threads, and how many comments did we have? Just people being like, oh, that sounds like a great idea. So if you are someone who's like, I want to start this thing, I want to know, I want to validate my offer idea, I want to get way more people signed up for my lead magnet, or I'm building something right now that I want to like build in public, do it. Go, Alyssa, tell us like what post did you make on threads and how many comments did you get?
SPEAKER_01I feel like there was like at least 150. Oh my god, I feel like I told you this at like midnight one day. But look, I would have done the challenge even if we didn't get you know much interaction on threads. But the fact that we did said the market was there and that people wanted this immediately. And also when buyers get excited, people get excited. We don't necessarily look at every single detail. So I wrote in my thread and I checked it twice. I was like, we're thinking of doing this, thinking, not finalized. We're thinking of doing this, it would be this. What do you think? If you all like it, then we'll make like a sign-up link, and then 150 comments. Where's the link? Where's the link? Where's the link? So then we made a link and I pinned it, I think, at the top. And I was like, everybody go to the link, and then more people were like, Where's the link? And then I was like, at the top, there's the link. They still didn't get it. So then I went through this. Is not a good use of founder time, by the way. I don't recommend this action. Then I went through 150 fucking threads comments and shared the link to each person. I was like, look, bitches, now you're not gonna miss the link. There were still people that were like, where's the link? I'm like, you gotta check your like if you want to make money on threads, which brings me to my last point. If you want to make money on threads, you've got to check your notifications. Arguably, like, they're a lot more exciting than the Instagram notifications. I think there's a lot more like higher level interactions, like comments, tags, not just liking stuff. But I think the last thing I was gonna say about engaging. So, what I was doing on threads pre-Tailor was like posting whatever I wanted, not knowing what I was doing, looking at some people that do it well. Megan Wall does it really well. She was actually writing threads, I told you, for a little while, not anymore. Um, but I was looking at people that were doing it really well. Megan, like immediately, I was like, I can't do that because when I saw my threads weren't getting much interaction because I wasn't engaging, like engaging on on theirs, so they weren't coming over to mine. When I looked at people that obviously were engaging on other people's threads, then when you went to their feed, Megan would write, and other people write these like eight like thread with seven sub threads shit. And I was like, wow, now I have to write a whole Instagram caption or like the equivalent of almost what would go on a carousel and then turn it into threads, which, in case you all don't know, if you write a bunch of shit in threads, it will now break it into sub threads for you, which is magnificent if you like copy and paste those details in there. But one of the biggest questions that maybe Taylor got and also I got about threads was how do I sell on threads? And I think people want it to be the only. I think they just want to post sales content on there and make money on there. And I think what I've learned is you also need to be heavily engaging on five, seven plus threads each day and posting your own three threads, and then knowing people are gonna come to stories and you have to have stories up, and then you want to be DMing people from your stories. I have whole other podcast episodes on how to reach out to people from stories, so we won't go super, super into that. But when people ask you over and over again, how do I sell on threads? How would you answer?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, that's a really good, really good question. My answer is so simple. Yeah. So you have to do your community call-ins because you have to get seen and then you have to get sales. That's my approach, is called get seen, get sales. That's the title of this podcast. Um, and so when you think about your you already checked off getting seen, right? I told you about the community call-ins. When you think about getting sales, it does come down to um engaging and your own content. You can do uh, like Alyssa said, you can do mega threads or super threads where you're really talking a lot and there's like three to five sub threads going on underneath your main point. My thing is, people you will sell better when you shorten it up and you say what you mean in less words, and you do not allow yourself to go into the subthread unless it's a listical. I only go into subthreads of listicle. So it's like I don't do like my main point and then put a bunch of nuance in the sub thread. And like you're already diminishing your sales power right there. You just need to say we need to say in 500 characters or less. And that is why actually writing your threads makes you even a better marketer and a better salesperson. So that's what that's what I do. But if I have like three ways that I'm, you know, uh doing X, Y, Z, and then I put my credibility statement, because this is how this is how I do my threads, guys. Put my credibility statement of like, as someone, as a mom of two who has made over 130k cash on threads in the last 15 months, I know what I'm talking about. Then obviously someone is going to read those points, number one, number two, number three, in the in three different sub threads. And then I put a CTA at the bottom, either for my freebie or or for my my um what I'm selling in paid. And when you are when you're talking about engagement for for selling, I want you to know that there are people on threads that want to spend their money with you today. And so you can go. I hate, I hate this advice of like you should be genuine and just be here for the connections and just support people when you engage. Hoorah, yay, girl, go get it, love it, supporting you, so proud of you. Of course, I do, of course, I do those comments, but I'm talking about strategic engagement. Okay, so you go to the search bar, you search what you are known for and your one thing, and you need to get super clear on that. If you don't know that already, that's why you're not making sales, and then you need to go, like me, like Alyssa said, if somebody thinks if there's a dictionary and you see the word threads, my little selfie and my name better be right next to it. That's instant assimilation, okay? DM sales better be Alyssa, right? If if not, you're not doing your job. So you go onto those keywords and you look them up, and then you also can look up identity keywords, like I can look up mompreneur, mom's in business, and I can engage with people who are asking questions who need my help, and I'm not going to just drop them a piece of advice and say, hope that helps. I'm gonna say at the end, I have this free resource, I have a $99 course, I have a six-week sprint coming up in September that you can pay to be in, or I also have a done for you service that you can sign up for today. Let me know how I can help you. I am Miss Sales, okay? And I want all of you to just buck up, be proud of your offers, be proud of how you help people, and get the good word out. Because it's not just the original poster of the thread who's going to see that. It's everybody who cares about that topic that's gonna see it on there for you feed and is gonna go, oh my gosh, she has that. Let me go check out her offers. I need you all to do that if you're gonna sell on threads.
SPEAKER_01I'm so that was such a good answer, and I'm so excited to tell you about my like threads results from today. You're gonna be excited about like threads times threads times threads. It's like I'm getting threads leads through ways I didn't know you could get leads. That's a good quote. Or it's like Yeah, what do you mean? Tell me I know I'm going to. The last thing I was going to say, uh, last thing I was going to say about like calls to action and DMs, etc. First of all, obviously, I'm 100% behind Taylor of like drop meaningful comments with value and invite them to your doors. Like they can DM you on threads, they can DM you on Instagram, etc. I I'm like bad about checking my DMs on threads because there are direct messages on threads. So check those too, it has its own notification. I know a couple people who like check thread DMs more than Instagram DMs, and I give them a lot of shit for it because I didn't know that was like a possibility. But also, if you are engaging with people on threads, and let's say McKenzie, I give her a valuable comment on threads, and I tell her, like, hey, DM me if you want to chat about how to get more DMs coming in from your stories, right? If I see Kelsey, what I just used a different name. But if I see like Kelsey go and follow me, I'm going to message her. I'm probably going to message her even if she hasn't yet followed me. I want to start the conversation where I know I'm going to see it, which for me is Instagram DMs, and I have a whole sales team helping with my Instagram DMs. So if I get behind, they on it. But you could do it on like threads DMs too. But my sales, how fast I make the sales, how many sales I make, go up a lot if I actually do this and I have my team directed to do the same thing. So let's say let's say that Kelsey and I are like engaging on a thread. She posts a thread and I respond, or she's in the comments and I reply to her comments. I'll actually send that either the thread or the comment, depending on where they were most engaging. They're the author of the thread, I'll send them the thread. If you know Kelsey just commented on the thread and it's not hers, then make a comment. I'll DM them that thread to their Instagram and be careful because when you click the send button, it's gonna route you to threads DMs. If you want to go to Instagram DMs, you have to click a different button at the bottom. But I will send that person the thread they wrote or commented on, say I wanted to get to know them better, ask a question about what they said, or offer further support on what I said, and go from there. Then I don't just have like we chatted in a fucking public forum. No, then Kelsey or Chelsea, which I think I've said both, and Mackenzie, I don't know where I get these names from. We have a one-on-one private conversation where they can tell me or ask whatever they want. So much different than a public forum. And Taylor and I have clients in common now because what we're doing works so well together, and they're not gonna post on threads, like, you know, I have a gold mine of leads, but I just don't want to get back to them. I don't really think I'm this good that good at this. Everybody keeps turning me down on price. Some people might post that publicly, most aren't going to. Most people are not gonna post the main problem they needed your help with publicly. They might say, I'm looking for a threads expert. They're not gonna say, Taylor made 130,000 plus fucking dollars on threads, but I just don't feel like I could ever do it alone. I feel like shit about myself. How is she doing it that I'm not? And how do I figure out how to get this going? So that's why I start like DM conversations from the threads. Eventually, like sometimes if I don't think it's a super hot lead or it might not be a great fit, I'll leave it to them to DM me. But if I think it's a good fit after I go investigate on Instagram, I'm gonna send them a message. Okay, we want to wrap up in like five or ten minutes, probably. So a couple of like recap pieces and answer Taylor's uh notes on threads this morning. So from our threads challenge for three weeks within that month of July, and we still have a few days left. I made $22,500 from threads alone. That was from three clients, one of them, so for my their lead gen services clients, it's usually $1,500 a month times three or four months. So we got two clients at $1,500 a month times three, so $4,500, $4,500. Then we got another client for double lead volume, so $3,000 times three is nine thousand. So altogether, we've got twenty-two thousand five hundred dollars on threads in both like cash and monthly recurring revenues, so split between those two. And regarding the types of leads I'm getting this morning, so I'm literally looking at my lead tracker right now, guys. So that's why you're gonna see me look away from the screen. So we have one person that found us on threads that came from a membership, found me on Instagram, went over to Threads, I popped up, remembered she knew me from the membership, and then sent me a DM. Then we also have another person who this one I was tagged by like three people, like my team, my colleagues, etc., tagged me when this person was looking for DM sales. I messaged that person, asked if I would be a good fit. She's actually reviewing my podcast to find out if I would be a good fit for her or not. This is where it gets really interesting. So, number one, people that know me and follow me on Instagram are seeing me again on threads, talking really granularly about what I do, and they'll DM me or I'll DM them. That's one. Number two would be people are tagging me on threads. I've become pretty well known in my industry. And when three, four, five people tag you on a thread, that's gonna get someone's attention. This is the real kicker. Now I got a lead who saw someone else make a post, someone else tagged me, liked that comment, and then DM'd me. So they weren't the author looking for support, they weren't someone I commented with in the DMs, they saw someone else looking for my help. I was tagged, and then they messaged me. So getting threads leads from all different places, which is super super exciting. But do you want to share on your like down low from the threads challenge? And for my audience too, please tell them about your thread services. Like, literally, like most of my clients either have like either already paid Taylor and have worked with her or are now like in the challenge that we did for free and are interested in paying Taylor in the future. So I want you guys to know the different options to work with her on threads.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, absolutely. I'm so stoked about your results. Like, I knew you were gonna get results too. Like, I just knew it. Like you have such a firm knowing of how you help people. And if you are listening to this and you're like, I do too, I am that BC, I am that girl on the internet that like you cannot miss what I am about and how I help people, then you should be running the threads game, you should be owning it on threads. So I'm like, I'm so happy for you that that threads has in literally instantly become a hot lead source for you. And um keep going with it. Like, I I love that. Me, okay, I told Melissa I'm so excited to do this challenge because I didn't have my Instagram stories routine going on. I used to do Instagram stories, I used to teach my business clients Instagram stories is all you need to sign your one-on-one coaching clients, and that was a big thing that I taught in my programs. And then I, when I had my babies, I got out of that routine, and it was so hard to get back into it. And I was telling Melissa, like, it's not even about like what to post, it's just the confidence and being in the routine of doing it. And what I loved about Alyssa was that she said, get on camera. We're not doing this whole thing. You can make them any kind of visual. No, get on camera. It doesn't matter what you're wearing, it doesn't matter if you look tired, it doesn't matter if you're ready that day, it doesn't matter if you have cohesive thoughts that day, like you just need to get face to camera and start talking. And I was like, I'm gonna do this. So I'm proud to proud to report that I did install the Instagram stories routine back in my life, and I'm doing it almost daily, and I have conversations now in my DMs almost daily. This was very important for me for the month of July because I was gearing up for the launch of my Done For You Thread service. Now that's been my service for over a year, but I'm doing a live launch for it where there's a bonus if you buy before August 3rd. And I wanted to make sure that I got um, but like we're gonna get about like 20 clients in. Um, right now we're at nine, and I am using my lead tracker. Um, and I have uh five more people today. As of today, I have five more people verbally confirmed that they're uh paying, that they've already told me, like, I'm gonna pay on this day or I'm gonna pay on that day or whatever. Um, and then I'm also talking to nine more leads. Now, most of those people came from threads and then saw my Instagram stories and replied directly to an Instagram story. So this month alone, I have had um, I don't know if it's like 20. I can look at my um lead my dashboard right now, $27,000 in new um income generated, like in the last five days since I've been open. I wasn't open um all July for new um income coming in. And um most of them are being re-engaged, like coming from threads, and then seeing my Instagram stories, I'm talking about the offer almost every single day. And then people are like, Oh, I've like, I have a question, or oh, that makes me think this, and that's exactly what I talked about in the beginning, right? Um, and so I'm so excited that this was this was so timely for me to to get. And so if you are the person who's like, I feel like I am almost on to what could be a very good lead flow and actually conversion flow for me. I just need either threads for more people to find me, or I need the Instagram stories so that I can actually convert them. I'm begging you all, put this together. Put your threads and Instagram to work, make them besties. Alyssa and I are proof of it. Um, a little a little bit of info about my Done For You um service, and then I want Alyssa to also tell my audience what she's got going on for um her new program that I'm like so pumped for. Okay, so for Done For You threads, if you are like, yeah, I can hold it down on the Instagram story side of things, I can do DM sales, or I have, you know, a freebie that does really well and converts or whatever you do, even if you do sales calls, totally fine. Um, but I need another human to get on that threads app for me because what Alyssa and all my Biz Besties are telling me is you spend way too much time on that app. It sucks you in, it pulls you in, and like you just spend so much time replying to stuff. And you need me and my team to own that platform for you. Okay, we will get you leads and sales on that platform without you having to log in there if you do not want to, and it takes the pressure off. You can show up there and have fun, but we would do all the replies, we strategically engage for you, we invite people daily to whatever you've got going on, and we we also run client launches on threads, so we know how to launch. I am a marketing strategist, okay? So I will do your launch with you, and you will feel like wow, I actually have a whole marketing team behind my launch on threads where people are actually seeing this stuff. Like it's it's amazing. So that is that is what we do, and our promise is sign 10 or more clients into your offer, any offer, any niche that you have, um, with daily leads that are generated from threads. And if you want to ask me a question, go ahead and DM me about that. But we will also like link the sales page. Um, even if you are listening after August 3rd, it doesn't matter because my my thread service is always open. So even if you're not joining during this launch and getting a special little bonus from me, you can still become a client literally any day of the calendar year, and we can get you started, we can get you kicked off, and we can start getting you leads and sales from threads. Um, Alyssa, can you tell us what you are doing for this new um program? Because I have the behind-the-scenes info, y'all. I I get the info behind the scenes, but yeah, tell us.
SPEAKER_01I love I love that uh introduction on the offer too. It's so good. I feel like for challenges, people are like for whatever you're selling, it's like harder to hide on threads for whatever reason. Like the people that are leads that are engaging just seem to have higher intent. I don't know exactly how high intent leads.
SPEAKER_00I agree. Yeah, super high intent.
SPEAKER_01Uh so skip a sales goal was a free challenge that I came up with a wild name on a whim, and Taylor said yes. And my group program, I usually run these every summer under like four different names. Those of you that have known me for a while, the last one last summer was called Grannies Get Rich. And it was about like doing the lowest lift to make sales in the summer and like wearing whatever you want and being relaxed but still making money. So skip the sales call, the free challenge continues August 31st as a paid program. So it's $149 a month, and a lot of what we're doing in the challenge, if you were in it, is what I'm continuing. So you guys are gonna get Instagram stories prompts, you're gonna get DMs prompts, and then you're gonna get live calls so that I can support you through Instagram stories content questions, how to reach out to people in the DMs, how to close in the DMs, or book a sales call. There's also a 16 module course that, like, I think one person has seen since I made it four years ago. So you guys are still gonna get access to that and a bunch of newer, more recent trainings that are in the platform too. But it's essentially you're gonna know what to say on stories, you're going to know what to say in the DMs, and then you have me on live calls to support you probably two or three times a month. And again, it's 149 a month times three months. You guys can message me about it. But yes, at the bottom of the podcast, we'll link Taylor's sales page, my sales page. I'm gonna give a lead tracker. Taylor can give extra free resources, courses, etc. But I'm so glad that we got to do this. The challenge was super, super fun. I know Taylor has another challenge coming up with a new client of mine, too. So keep watching Taylor because she's got fun stuff coming. And I'm gonna hire Taylor too, probably in Q4. I cannot recommend her enough. She is like the threads expert, so definitely go and check her out.
SPEAKER_00Thank you so much, Alyssa. This was so fun. And yeah, for my audience, you guys, if you need help on managing your leads and you are actually like, I have tons of leads, or I need more of them, and I just need a specific lead person who is going to own that, and I never have to think about it again in my life. Um, you need Alyssa. And if you um are listening to her right now and you're like, no, you know what? I would rather do it myself. I would rather like get in Alyssa's program, learn what I need to do, own this as the like I want my socials to be founder led, like get in her program because if you can't tell from this conversation, this woman's brain is like, I'm obsessed with her. Um and just her attitude and and her like you can do anything and you don't have to be anyone different. You can be yourself and you just need to stand on business. Like, I so F with that. I'm all about that. Um, and so it's just been like such a joy to be able to do this challenge with you and now be your friend. Um, and also your audience rocks. Like, we we had what 100 140 something people, um, probably half from your audience and half from mine. And I'm like, dude, your audience is killer. I like love these people, they're so fun.
SPEAKER_01I I a certain crowd, a lot of like very confident, badass unicorn women, because I'm pretty like loud and proud about who I am, about being anti-Trump, even if it gets me sued and being sober, even when people tell me not to talk about it, talking about mental health and people tell me to shut up. So, yeah, I I mean I've come to own my identity, and thank you so much. And I feel the same way about you. All right, let's wrap it and come DM Taylor and I me shall be there in the DM. Yeah, bye guys.
