2 Corinthians says we can be new creatures. This podcast talks about that newness and how the Power of One can help others in the journey of discipleship.
Welcome to this week's edition of the Power of One podcast with Tony Medlin, 2 Corinthians 5 17. One of my favorite verses, it says, and this is a message we all need to hear: if anyone is in Christ, they are a new creature. Celebrate that for just a moment. If anyone is in Christ, they are a new creature. Old things are passed away, and behold, all things become new. Now, I would like for us to imagine the possibilities for just a moment. The addict is clean. The relationship is healed. The sin is forgiven. Whatever it is, if we are in Christ, we are a new creature. Old things are passed away, all things become new. For me, it was a sense of hopelessness. I had let God down. I had been separated from him for way too long. And then someone prayed. This someone was a part of a group that gave me another chance. This someone was a part of a group that reminded me of how I had entered into a relationship with Jesus to begin with decades ago. They reminded me of the pain that I had felt in separation from Him. They reminded me of no longer being able to share my testimony or to teach discipleship or to walk with someone or to pastor someone or to do all the things that I knew God had called me to do because I had been separated from him. But now they told me that I was forgiven. In fact, someone in this group, as I said, prayed for me. And they prayed. As this verse in 2 Corinthians 5 17 says, let him know he is a new creature. Let him know that the old things have passed away. Let him know that all things once again have become new. Now, my friends, I hunger and I thirst after righteousness like never before. In fact, Jesus talks about that. And what does he say about the person who hungers and thirsts after righteousness? He says in the Sermon on the Mount, they shall be filled. I'm no longer in chains. What has you in chains? What has you separated from our Lord? There is an old song by the Imperials highlighted by Russ Taft, and they sing it. It's called Praise the Lord. And I love the line in this song that says the chains that seem to bind you fall powerless behind you when you praise him. Again, imagine those chains. Now I want you to imagine that God has cleansed you, that you have turned yourself over to him again, and that you are brand new, that all things have passed away, that all things have become new. That chain, those chains of sin, those chains of a broken relationship, those chains of addiction, those chains, whatever they may be or have been in your life when you just praise the Lord for what he has done for you, those chains fall powerless behind you when you just praise him. Folks, our world needs us to teach them the story of Jesus. There are so many people who are bound by the chains that we have described so far in this podcast. There are so many people who need freedom. There are so many people who need to experience joy. There are so many people who need to experience newness. And they need you. They need me. They need us to tell them how they that can happen. They need us to tell them that Jesus came into the world in the form of a human and he lived a sinless life. And he died a death on a cross that paid the debt for our sin. That God raised him from the dead, and now he sits at the right hand of the Father. And his last words before he ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father were to each of us. Throughout the ages, these words have rung true. As we discussed last week, you shall be my disciples, and you shall share the gospel in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth. But there are so many people that want to do that. There are so many people that are struggling in their walk with Christ. And when I became new, there were several things that became clear to me. One is, and most importantly, I wanted to do ministry full time for whatever days I have left at age 63, hopefully many years. But I feel like I've wasted a whole lot of time. But God can use me right now, right here, where I am. And He has called me to help others in that discipleship walk, also. Our church plant, the Global Methodist Church here in Seneca called Grace Methodist Church. We are growing. We're having new visitors just about every week. People are hungry for discipleship. We are in the midst of a season of planning now where we're going to look at where we believe God wants us to be in 10 years, but we're going to work backwards and we're going to see what he wants us to do right now to get there, to disciple people, to share Jesus to do all of the things that he has called us to do since we have been in existence for almost a year and a half now. What I want to talk about right this second is this opportunity to walk with you in discipleship. God has laid upon my heart, and you've heard me discuss a little bit. It's what this podcast is called. It's the power of one. It's the opportunity to walk with one person at a time, one group of people at a time, and journey with you in discipleship. Not just teach you about discipleship and how you can overcome and how you can be reunited with Jesus again, but how you can grow in discipleship so you can share with others. That's what the power of one ministry is all about. I want to share something special with you, particularly on this podcast today. If you are hungry and thirsty to grow in discipleship and you would like for me to walk in that journey with you, go to my website. It's called the Power of One Spiritual Renewal.com. Powerof1 Spiritual Renewal.com. Or you can email me at Anthony Medlin26 at Outlook.com. Or you can call me at 864-430-4498. Anthony Medlin26 at Outlook.com 864-430-4498. I would like to do some special things here in May. You'll see on my website, I have a discipleship course that's designed for one person. Three months, $1,800. But I want to open that up. If you could get a group of six to ten people, divide that price up. Instead of that $1,800, it would be $100 a month for each for three months. I want to make that as affordable as possible, but it won't be just a little bit of time together. It will be three months of intensive study and discipleship growth. Contact me either through the webpage, through my phone number, or through my email. You also may know that I'm a certified life coach, along with being a doctoral candidate in renewal preaching. And I want to give you the opportunity to maybe walk with me in an individual sessions. And no matter the price, the website talks about of $65 an hour. For anybody that contacts me in May as a result of this podcast, I want to offer you $50 a session every week for as long as you want to work with me. $50 each time. And we will grow in discipleship together. It's a ministry that I'm trying to make as affordable as possible, but it's a ministry that I believe we really need, not just right here in Seneca, South Carolina, where I live, but all over the world. Remember, in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, to the uttermost parts of the earth. So contact me. Tell me that you heard about this on the podcast. We'll do $50 individual sessions or get a group together. We can meet over Zoom and we will do the discipleship course together. And at the end of that journey, it will just be the beginning of sharing Jesus with everything that we have and with our entire beings. And I hope you'll join me. Once again, Power of One Spiritual Renewal.com, Anthony Medlin26 at Outlook.com, 864-430-4498. Thank you for letting me share just a little bit today about the journey that brought me to this ministry. And I hope that you will join me. And I hope that you'll tell someone today about your relationship with Jesus Christ. Join us next week, right here on the Power of One podcast with Tony Medlin. God bless everyone.
