In this episode of Stories of Aphasia, we take on a different setting. A group of University of Kentucky Aphasia Lab members sit and discuss their favorite places to eat in Lexington, Kentucky. Sharing their go-to breakfast, lunch, and dinner spots. They touch on the topic of the challenges they face and navigate when being out in public. It can not only be complicated, but raise anxiety and fear when doing tasks that seem may seem mundane. This episode is lively and fun, a new take on Stories of Aphasia's usual format!

SPEAKER_03Yep. Why first watch? Um, first watch is because they serve everything. Yeah. Because they serve everything. Yeah.
SPEAKER_09Um, what's like something that you like on the menu?
SPEAKER_03Um, um they serve everything, but I I only get one thing on the top corner of the menu. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00Have you guys been to First Watch? Yes. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Oh, so everyone's been to First Watch. Almost everyone. What's your favorite thing to get at first watch? Something pancakes. Pancakes.

SPEAKER_03Oh god. Dinner is is open. It's wide open. Oh the mall is wide open.

SPEAKER_09I talk, but it's okay, but they're talking too fast and oh yeah, don't know what they're saying.
SPEAKER_01But talk, I can't. And some places for me are too loud. Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_10Yes. I think CMCM mobile group groups, CNM or taking looking for it, looking for it, you know. Hey, you know, what is that?
SPEAKER_01Especially if I'm if I'm not in the mood for anything in particular. Yep. For me to be able to find something on the menu for me to read. I have to look at a lot of the pictures or kind of figure out what I want or what I can't eat or don't like. May or may not have something I do or like, do or don't like.
SPEAKER_09So on the menu, you're saying it's really helpful when there's pictures.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh yeah. That's that's a great one.
SPEAKER_06There's a lot going on. Okay. Um when I go to the the restaurant, um, this is uh pancakes and uh uh um uh sushi's because online because the dinner this right here, right there, it's this this is the um you have the online menu. Yeah I got it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yes. Does anyone else do that? Yeah, yes, yeah, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yeah, yes. Does Door Dash? This is me. Oh door?

SPEAKER_05You guys use a lot of delivery to just stay in and eat after case. Okay, so sometimes uh restaurant, me.

SPEAKER_00Yes, there's a what's your favorite thing to order on order? There's an each job every minute.
SPEAKER_03Oh, okay. Everything, yeah, right. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yes. Yes. I would also rather go to a restaurant where I have to look at it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, me too.
SPEAKER_01Decide what I want rather than walking into like um five houses. Look at that because I have there's so many people trying to that I don't like don't know what I want or explain what I want. That's crazy. There's too much uh too much. Counter counter.
SPEAKER_00So is fast food just more stressful than a sit-down restaurant? Thank you.
SPEAKER_01Yes, except a lot of fast food will do the um mobile order. Oh, so I can order that and then make. Yes, here, here. It's already, yeah, yeah. I can I can be there, like I don't have to tell anybody what I'm doing.
SPEAKER_03Right. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I'm more of a talker. I would rather go to a restaurant. You know, yeah.
