In this episode of Stories of Aphasia, we take on a different setting. A group of University of Kentucky Aphasia Lab members sit and discuss their favorite places to eat in Lexington, Kentucky. Sharing their go-to breakfast, lunch, and dinner spots. They touch on the topic of the challenges they face and navigate when being out in public. It can not only be complicated, but raise anxiety and fear when doing tasks that seem may seem mundane. This episode is lively and fun, a new take on Stories of Aphasia's usual format!

Um, what's like something that you like on the menu?

Um, um they serve everything, but I I only get one thing on the top corner of the menu. Yeah.

Especially if I'm if I'm not in the mood for anything in particular. Yep. For me to be able to find something on the menu for me to read. I have to look at a lot of the pictures or kind of figure out what I want or what I can't eat or don't like. May or may not have something I do or like, do or don't like.

So on the menu, you're saying it's really helpful when there's pictures.

There's a lot going on. Okay. Um when I go to the the restaurant, um, this is uh pancakes and uh uh um uh sushi's because online because the dinner this right here, right there, it's this this is the um you have the online menu. Yeah I got it. Yeah.

Yes. Yes. I would also rather go to a restaurant where I have to look at it.

Decide what I want rather than walking into like um five houses. Look at that because I have there's so many people trying to that I don't like don't know what I want or explain what I want. That's crazy. There's too much uh too much. Counter counter.

So is fast food just more stressful than a sit-down restaurant? Thank you.

Yes, except a lot of fast food will do the um mobile order. Oh, so I can order that and then make. Yes, here, here. It's already, yeah, yeah. I can I can be there, like I don't have to tell anybody what I'm doing.

I'm more of a talker. I would rather go to a restaurant. You know, yeah.
