Sunday March 15, 2026 - Dylyn is home from Discipleship Training School (D.T.S) at YWAM Kona. She shares with the collective about her time away, what she learned, and her outreach experience in Egypt.
Well, we have a very exciting. She's not a guest. We have a very exciting young lady to share with us this morning. I'm gonna give you can come on up, Dylan. Uh this is Dylan Wilgis. She just returned from her six-month DTS with uh YWAM, uh Youth with a Mission. Uh she I'll let her tell where she was, so I'm not gonna steal your content. But uh I met Dylan, what, uh, two years ago? Two years ago. And she came into our youth group and didn't really seem like she wanted to be there. I guess that's the the most polite way of putting it. She wouldn't really say anything, wouldn't really talk to anybody. Um, and then slowly but surely she became a crowd favorite, I think, of all of us. We love Dylan. We love you. Um I'm just so proud of her. Um, she's gonna share with us a little bit about her time away, her her woes, her highs, her lows, her what she learned about herself, what she learned about God, and whatever else she wants to share with us. But I know everyone's very eager to hear her speak, and you can tell that she's different coming back. Um and and I would say different in just the sense of confidence in who she is now, which is very exciting. So we're gonna pray for her really quickly and just welcome her and bless her, okay? God, thank you so much. This incredible woman standing next to me and the privilege of knowing her and watching her journey and just the challenge and encouragement that she's been to me, and I'm sure many others. And I just ask this morning, Holy Spirit, that you would just give her peace to uh speak exactly what you put on her heart, that she can be herself and that we love her and we receive her as who she is, and we're just so thrilled to hear about what you're doing in her life. In Jesus' name. Amen.
SPEAKER_02Okay, okay, okay, so first of all, before I like get started and like tell everyone like what I've been doing the last six months, I just want to say like thank you to everyone who like like basically funded for me to like be able to do this like experience. It was like so amazing. And oh my gosh, I like if any of y'all like after this like still want to like ask questions, like I'd love to meet up with like every single one of you and like tell you about like all the details because it was so amazing, and like you guys basically like sent me, and so yeah, it was just so amazing. And then also, I I just like got back here in Santa Rosa on Wednesday, so this is gonna kind of be like I didn't prepare that much for this, so just bear with me on on these bullet points that I have written down. But before, like, I'll just like talk a little bit about like what I was doing, because most of you already know, but yeah, I'll just like give a recap. Like, I was doing my DTS in Y Wim Kona, and it stands for discipleship training school with Y Wim Fine Fragrance. Um, and it's basically just a six-month program. Sorry, I'm like reading off my computer, um, focused on like growing deeper in your relationship with God and then like learning how to share the gospel, and then like actually going out into the nations and like doing it. And so the first the first three months are called lecture phase, and so basically we had like class every day, which was like just different speakers every week would come and like speak about like different topics. I have some written down because I don't remember all the ones, like we were there for so long. Um, like hearing God's voice, finding our identity in Christ. We had Freedom Week and then different topics about following Jesus, like just like all of that, and then the second half, which was two and a half months, is called Outreach, where we actually got to go into the nations and like share the gospel and like evangelize and just like serve the different communities, which was so fun. It was like a dream, it was amazing. Um, and so I did like the school in Wyoming, it's called Fire and Fragrance, and it was split up to like two different schools. So there's youth movement and least reached, and youth movement is like focused more on the youth and like how do I explain this? It's like talking to them about the Great Commission and then like sending them and just like really like getting them eager to like go, and then least reach is like going to the more of like least reached nations in like the 1040 window and talking to people who've never like heard the gospel before. And so I did the youth movement school, and then so yeah, that's like what I was doing the last six months, and so I got to live in Kona, Hawaii, for three months, which is so amazing. It was so amazing, and like literally just a dream, and I was just like surrounded by a bunch of people who were like just laid their life down and just running like towards Jesus, like, and it was so amazing, like being in that community for that long. And obviously, it was Hawaii, so it was like like amazing. And so, like, just like a schedule that I had like during that time, we were like packed, like our schedules like literally packed. So, if I didn't respond to your texts or like emails, I'm so sorry. Like, I would I yeah, sorry. Um, but yeah, we just like had like I said, like classes every week, so like they would um have new people every single week, and we'd have class every day, and yeah, but we had like the weekends off to do stuff, like most of the time, actually. Sometimes we would have like community service or something. Um, so I just want to talk about like a few moments that like stood out to me. Obviously, like the whole thing was amazing, but I can't stay up here and talk for like five hours about it all. So I'm just gonna like say a few things, but I think like looking back, the first like moment that I think stood out to me the most was actually on arrival day, and we had like a worship night that night. Um, so they just gathered the whole like fine fragrance school and um had worship, and it was crazy. Which is this is when I realized I actually like knew a lot more than I did because thank God I got sent to Brazil because a lot of people do not know like what the Holy Spirit like really is and like how to like I don't know, like when people are like falling down or whatever, like people are like, oh my gosh, like I thought I would be like a newbie to this thing because like I've only been like a Christian for two years or something, but like most of the people there like grew up like in a Christian household, but they were like, What the frick is happening? Like, where did I get sent? But I was like, no guys, like it's just like the Holy Spirit, it's fine. Um so so like I personally got encountered that night, um, and God like never really gives me like visions, like like I guess like like actual like where like I see stuff, but that night he like actually gave me a vision of like him on the cross and like that I saw with my own eyes, and that like honestly like changed like my whole life, like obviously still, but like it like actually like oh my gosh, like it was crazy. I've never like had anything happen to me like that ever before in my entire life, and like that's when I realized like I missed the whole point, like my entire life, and it was almost like God like gave me a new revelation like of the cross and like what it actually meant, and like that was like probably the biggest thing of like my DTS. And so that was like probably like the biggest moment that was like dang, like I missed the whole point, like like nothing matters, like literally what the heck. Um, for one of the speakers, I don't know if you guys know who this is, he's like pretty known from Upper Room, his name's Peter Lewis. He came and spoke um just about the Bible one week, and this week stuck out to me because I literally got humbled like so bad. This like man humbled a whole school, like everyone was like, Oh my gosh. Um, but it's because like that week I realized I don't know my Bible at all, like and like it's so important and honestly taught me like how important it is to know your Bible well. And like I feel like before I went, I was like, Yeah, like I read my Bible like all the time, and I like write highlights in it and everything, and like like it's so like cute and aesthetic, like what the frick! Like, it's like amazing, but like actually know like the word of God is like your anchor, and like I'm like, dang, I don't know this well enough, like at all. And like I could talk about this for so long, so I need to like keep it short so I'm not talking for so long, but like this, like truly, I think like another one of the biggest things is like dang, like this is so important, and like more oh my gosh, you guys like oh my gosh, it's so amazing. It's like the living, it's like living, like it's amazing, it's so great. Um, read your Bible. It's like, yeah, and then like the same week, one of my leaders like told me this, and I think this quote, like, I have it written down like everywhere now, but like actually changed my life. But she told me, How long are you gonna let the devil lie to you because you don't know what the word of God has said about you? Guys, I was like, Okay, chill out, like that's crazy. Um, like I've struggled a lot in my past with like body image and just like how I see myself, and so like I was like, dang, like you're right, because I can walk around and be like, yeah, like God like loves me and like he created me in his image, whatever, but it's like it's not until like you like I was waking up every morning and reading like the scriptures like word by word, like what they said about me, that actually helps me like change how I thought about myself. And so, yeah, like guys, like it's crazy, and I think that's also like the Lord taught me a lot about like personal convictions. Um, he gave me a lot of them like while I was in Kona. But um, that's like one of them was like like I need to wake up every morning and like read exactly what like these scriptures are saying about me before like I can get any lies in my head, like before I start my day, and so that's something I've been doing, and it's like absolutely changed my life. Um, and like I feel like this kind of ties into it, but like my quiet times, which I thought was like a known term, but I feel like it's more like a YWM term because I came home and people are like, What the heck is a quiet time? It's like just like you're alone with God, basically. But like a lot of the like my quiet times in Kona were like so amazing. I was literally waking up at like 4:30 in the morning and then going to the parameters for an hour and spending time with God. And if I read my journal, I'm like, dang, like what the heck? And obviously, I didn't do that every single day, like no one's perfect, but that's definitely one of the personal convictions he's given me. And it's like, dang, like I need to wake up like every day and like get in my word because it changes things, and I feel when it changes, like if I didn't do it, like I'd feel it like during worship, and be like, dang, God, I didn't spend enough time with you today. And I'm so so that's like something he gave me. Um, and obviously, that's not like it's like oh, if you're a Christian, you don't read your Bible every day and every morning, and then you're a failure and you're not close to God and you don't hear his voice, like that's not true. That's just like a personal conviction that he gave me is like like no, you need to wake up and spend time with me because it actually affects you if you don't do it. So, yeah. And then um, this is more so just like what I was doing in Kona because like our like days were crazy, but every time, like every student has a work duty, and it's basically you just like serve on campus. And um my work duty, I actually had to get it changed because they sent us to like I had work duty every Monday through Friday from 3 to 5 p.m. Um, and my they sent us to like this field, they would drive us every day on the Sudan, and then like send us to this empty plot of land that was just like overgrown with weeds and everything, and we're like, okay, like you're just gonna empty it by the end of the quarter. And we're like, what? Like, literally just gloves, like no tools or anything, which was like, which is like, I don't know if y'all know me, like I just like I was like, okay. Um, there would be like these like big spiders like crawling up our legs every day. And I'm like, I don't do spiders, but that's like not why I switched. Like, obviously, like I'm not gonna switch just because I'm a princess. But I I actually was allergic to like m- allergic to like mosquitoes. I just like get really bad bites, and we were getting like 10 bites every day, so I was like, I can't do this. And so I actually got to just like clean the prayer room every day, which is like a lot different, and we would like color and like make cards, and I was like, dang, I feel bad for my friends still out there. But that was like my work duty every single day. And then more things like during the week, we would have movement mornings, which is as a youth movement, like we would meet in our classroom every or like two or three times a day, and this is where we would learn like things more towards like youth movement, and it would be like, Oh, like you have five minutes to like share the gospel to this person, and we would like like rapid fire run, like sharing the gospel or like doing salvation prayers like that. So that was more like the movement mornings, and then we would have like ministry nights, Monday morning worship and Monday night gatherings, where like as a whole, like Wyoming Kona would like gather in the Ohana core and we would just like have worship or like have a message, and that was so amazing. If if you guys have like, I feel like some of you have been to YM Kona before the campus, Ohana core is like actually magical, like you can see the ocean, and like it's like dang, like I can feel God, but it's like literally just because you're looking at the ocean while worshiping, which is like amazing. But like I said, like oh frick, I didn't put the slides up. Well, whatever, actually, don't care. But like on how do I do it? You want to do it for me? Yeah, okay. So on weekends, like I said, we got to travel, which this doesn't really make sense because I don't have the slides up yet, so I'm just gonna talk until she gets them up. But like we got to go out and me and my friends, um oh that's my MacBook. Um we would just like travel. Me and my four friends actually rented a car for a month, which was a blessing. Um, because once you're like in on campus every day, like for three months, you're gonna be like, I'm going insane. Like I need to like get off of this campus, even though it's so beautiful, I love it. But we would like travel to beaches in like different places. There is this place called Waimea, it's like in the middle of the island, kind of, and it's like so cute. It's like the cute little coffee shops that everyone wants to go to, and then like on the other side, um, there's this town called Kilo, and that's like kind of ghetto, but like that's where like all of like the waterfalls are and like the fun hikes and stuff. So I'll get to the slide later. Y'all can look at the pictures. Um and then for Halloween, I like decided to talk about this because I'm like, dang, this was like one of my favorite nights. But on Halloween, like as a school, we went out and like we everyone had a Bible, and we would all we all went out and gave out every single Bible that everyone had. Um there's like 300 students, I think. And then um we got to like talk to so many people. I have the salvation count and like all the stats on the slide. I don't know them in my head, but um, it's somewhere on there. Rachel, can you see it?
SPEAKER_00Halloween, 713 seeds planted, two physical healings, and 57 saves.
SPEAKER_02Amen. And that was like one of my favorite nights. It was so like it was so amazing. Like, guys, next Halloween, go out and like evangelize because it's so powerful. Um and then everyone also, all the students get to pick a track, um, which I'm trying to remember like all the tracks that were like you were able to pick from. But like before you go, you actually get to like pick like the one that like you think you're gonna do, and I chose Messenger track, which is like more so like public speaking. I was like, dang, I suck at public speaking and I absolutely hate it, so I'm gonna pick this one so I can get better at it. And then like there's other ones like RTC, which is like working out, and then like Brave Love, which is like girls, whatever. And then um as they were like, as they were like telling us like all of the different options, they're like, actually, like before you choose, like go and pray about it, like with God. And so I was like praying about it. I was like, Yeah, I'm gonna do messenger track, God. And he was like, No, actually, you're gonna do dance track. And I was like, guys, I've never taken a dance class in my entire life. I was like, God, why are you telling me to like actually I was like, you know, what's the time when like you're like, God, I need you to speak to me, and he like, you're like, dang, like, he doesn't give me an answer, and then the one time you don't want him to actually like give you a clear answer, he does. I'm like, why are you telling me to do dance track? Like right now, I've never taken a dance like class like ever in my entire life. So I actually chose dance track because I was like, dang God making me do dance track. But basically, um what dance track was is like there's two things, like you're gonna like get into a group and like teach um a bunch of kids like a dance class, which is like okay, fun. And then the other one is like you're gonna actually dance your testimony, which is probably like how the frick do you dance your testimony? I was like the same, they call it a dance money, but you basically literally like you like choreograph a whole dance and like dance it, and they have like a show, like the whole room is packed during the show, and I was like, oh my gosh, I would cry all the time. Every time I had to go to dance track, I was like, God, like this is awful. It was too late to switch out when I wanted to. Um but basically I like choreographed a whole dance and like did it, but I was like, God, like why are you putting me in dance track? Like this is so random. But actually, for most of uh for those of you who don't know, I did I've done like sports my whole life, not dance, but I've done sports like my whole life, and like I always was like the best, or I always like wanted to be the best, and like if I wasn't, I was a brat and I would like cry. Like, I loved getting first place, I loved getting medals, and I like loved like had like I strive for like athletic validation. Like I loved, I loved it, and that's like where it put a lot of like just like everything in my life. Um but being in a dance class where literally I'm telling you right now, all the girls were like professional dancers who have done dance their whole life, and I'm just like standing there, I'm like, guys, like I don't know what you're doing, and I had to like dance, like choreograph a whole dance by myself, and then like present it in front of all these people. It made me put so much of my pride down and be like, dang, like I actually don't need to be the best at something, and this isn't about me, it's about like God and about me telling like everyone like what he did for me, and so I was able to do that like through dance track, and then also when I did my dance, literally, I have a video, everyone was in tears. Like, I kid you not. I people were coming up to me after me, like, oh my gosh, how long have you been doing dance? Like, you made me cry, and I was like, Dog, I've never done a dance class ever in my life, but it was like so powerful, it was so great. If you want to see it, just text me and I'll send you the video. Um but okay, and then the like last thing I had like ring down about like lecture face is the community, which I think impacted me like the most out of like these whole six months, is just like that was the thing I was scared to like do the most. Like, I thought I was gonna like have no friends and like everyone, no one was gonna talk to me, and I was like, dang, like I'm gonna like fly to all the way to Hawaii and then like be by myself because I knew absolutely no one going into it, but God blessed me like so much, like He, but guys, my room girls. When you're like dang, like eight girls are gonna share this tiny room with this like shower and bathroom that is literally like one square foot, and like we're all getting ready at the same time every day. You're probably like, dang, like, there's gonna be so many issues. God blessed me so much with my room girls, and like it was so amazing, which is not the case for so many people, but also just like the community and the friends that I made, like not even out, like outside of my room girls, was just like so like amazing, and these people like helped me walk into a new level of like vulnerability that I've never like what did like ever in my entire life, and so I feel like that's like honestly, like what God blessed me with the most was like my friends in the community that he like surrounded me with, and so yeah, that was my lecture phase, and then um for outreach. Um I went, I feel like most people know, but I went to Egypt, like Cairo, Egypt, which was like amazing, guys. I love Egypt, and I've been telling everyone I'm like you guys have to go to Egypt because it's amazing. But funny story, I actually didn't want to go at all, and I was crying every single day when after like I found out where I was going. Oh, here we go. Um, I was like crying like every single day, like every night I had to speak with my room leader because I was crying because I didn't want to go to Egypt. And like during our team times, I was like, dang, I hate like I hate Egypt, I've never gone, but I don't want to go. And I thought that God was calling me like Africa. I didn't know Egypt was in Africa. I thought I was like, I don't know, like I feel like I thought I was like dumb, but then most of the people were like, no, like you're not dumb. I didn't know Egypt was in Africa either. So, but like I was like, dang, I want to go to like Kenya or South Africa, and he sent me to Egypt, and I was like, what the frick are you doing, bro? But yeah, that was that. But I literally fell in love with the country and I could so see myself living there. Oh yes. Oh, these are my friends.
unknownThere you go.
SPEAKER_02Yay, um, but it was like literally a dream come true. Like guys, I can move there. I love Egypt so much. But to be like so honest, ours was so hard, and it was probably like one of the hardest things I've ever had to do in my entire life. Um like I said, like why I'm saying it right now. Um but yeah. Um like I was saying youth movement like in least reach were two different schools and I chose youth movement but they sent us to a least reach country and so that caused a lot of problems for my team. I'm not gonna lie, because all the training that we had like in Kona we didn't get to use because we were in a least reach country, and so it wasn't like we were being sent to like Brazil or Kenya where like you can go up to someone and be like, oh my gosh, like do you know who Jesus is? Like you can't do that there, like you could, but like they're gonna not talk to you after that. So I think a lot of my team was like really struggled with that just because we were like we had no like um like what's the word? Training, yes, thank you. Um and then we also like God told us while we were on outreach, but we were a pioneering team, so we were the first youth movement team to ever be sent to Egypt, which they didn't tell us that before we went. So we were like, what the frick? And I feel like most of the people in here could like know, like if you've ever been like in a company or something, or like a thing where like they're in a pioneering season, it's not fun like at all. Like, I actually there's like certain people who like are so good at that like environment and like learning as you go, and my team wasn't, like, we just weren't. Um personally, like me, I no, I'm never doing that ever again. Like I I'm done with doing like pioneering seasons after this, but that was like amazing. Um, a good learning experience for a lot of us, but our main ministry, like when we were in Egypt, was um EV, which is like evangelism. Um, that's like the only thing we did every single day, which is like really hard because we were going to the same three malls every single day and talking to people, and it's not like like it's not like easy evangelism where like, oh my gosh, I went out today and I saw five salvations. Like, no, my team literally saw zero salvations our whole entire time. And so it's like it looked a lot different, and we would go out and just like talk to people for a long period of time and be like, hey, like, and we would just like build relationships, and most of the time, the first time we talked to people, we didn't even tell them we were Christians because like it just like they wouldn't want to talk to us after that. So we would just like meet up continually and like get phone numbers, and one of the um eeve like tactics that we did, because you have to switch it up or else you're gonna go insane. Um one of the eevey um things that we did was we would do like interview type style like things, so we would go up to people and be like, hey, like I'm like from a university in Kona, Hawaii, and I was wondering, like, I'm studying religion and culture, and like um my school sent me here, and I'm like here to learn about like more about like your culture and your religion. Like, would you mind like answering some questions? And then a lot of people were so open to that, so then we were able to like get deeper in conversation with people because of like this, and we would start off with just like easy questions like, oh, like are you Egyptian? How long have you lived here? Like, are you Muslim? And then, like, as the conversation went on, we were able to like talk to them and be like, Oh, like, how does like you feel like when you pray, or like how do you feel like your culture treats women and things like that? And we got in such deep conversations with people, and then after that, we were able to be like, Oh, like in my religion, like we feel like this, and like in this, and so like we got to so many people like doing that, which was so great. Um, but having it be like it was like really like hard because a lot of the time we felt like we were doing absolutely nothing because a lot of our friends in youth movement, like literally we'd be texting like Team Kenya, and they're like, Yeah, we have 2,000 salvations. True story, like, I'm not even kidding. We're like, uh we don't even have one. But like that's not the point, but like, like when you're out in the mission field, like doing that, it's like really hard to like hear that and be like, dang, like, we're not doing we're literally not doing anything. But it taught me a lot about like what real missions is, and like this is like harder, like it is harder to go to the least reached places where people like don't know like Jesus and like than it is to go to like Brazil and like or like Kenya or something like that, and like where people are so open to it. Um, and that felt like like that taught me and my team like so much, like dang, like this is harder, but like we went to this country and we prayed every morning for them, and like we went here and we talked to people and we planted so many seeds, and I think that that was like like it taught me and like my team so much, and it's like so powerful because it's like like it is like it takes so much longer, but it's like being faithful, like in the plowing, and like God it taught us like like a lot about missions, like God gave us missions, like that's not our gift to Him, and like yeah, it just taught me like a lot about like real missions, even though like it is harder. I think it gave me and my team like a like bigger heart, like for like those types of like these people groups and everything. Yeah, and yeah, um, but like a day-to-day that looked like we did like on outreach was we would do um team intercession every single morning, so we're um leaders had like one of us lead intercess like a team intercession every single day. Um I led like two or three times, but yeah, and then we would go out and do Eevee every single day, and then on Tuesday we had like these gatherings, it was like a youth group because there are like some Christians there, but it's either like you're born Christian or you're born Muslim, and a lot of the times, like in both ways, they're just like, Yeah, I was born like this, but I don't really practice it at all. And so it was kind of nice to get to talk to like Christians and be like, wait, like like you're Christian, but like we got to like spark them and like be like to actually like like what's the word like do like practice the religion or whatever. Um and then we would have church on Friday, because they don't have church on Sundays in Egypt, they have church on Fridays, and so we'd have a morning service on Friday, which was kind of like for us, and then like to like receive because like you're pouring out every single day, and especially like with these conversations that you're having, you have to be so intentional, which takes so much energy. And then like at night we would have a church service where we got to like talk to like a lot of the youth. Um, well, like youth, I say youth, like you would think like my age or like younger, but a lot of these people were like 20, 25, and so for me, I was like, dang, like what am I supposed to do? Like these people could disciple me. How am I supposed to disciple them? So that like that like was a lot of an issue for me, I think, because I was like, dang, like, what am I even supposed to do? But it was so fun, and I got to talk to so many people and like walk them through so many things, and then for like I wanted to talk about one of the intercessions that I had, but at one of these gatherings, um, this girl or the leader was talking about Luke 11. Hold on, I have to actually open my Bible and I can't do it with one hand. Okay, so Luke 11, and I'm just gonna read the verse out and then I'll talk about it after. It says, And I tell you, ask and it will be given to you. Seek and you will find knock, it will be open to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be open. What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of fish give him a serpent, or if he asks for an egg, we'll give him a scorpion. If you then who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him? And so, um, like during this like gathering when she was talking about it, she made it seem like a lot like, oh, like I can go to God and ask for whatever I want, and he's gonna give it to me. And so I went home and was having quiet time with God that night, and being like, oh my gosh, God, like I want this, this, and this. And he like so bluntly was like, Dylan, go back and read like the last sentence, and I'll read it. And it says, How much more will the heavenly father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him? And I was like, dang, like he promises nothing but his spirit. Like he doesn't promise, like he literally promises nothing but his spirit. And it raised the question in my heart, like, if I had nothing, would my spirit, like if you had nothing, would your spirit be enough? And I was like, dang, I feel like it's so easy to like sit here as Christians and be like, like, yeah, like like I'd be fine, but it's like, would I really? Because I feel like a lot of the things on our each that God brought up was a lot of my entitlements. And I we all have entitlements, like if you're like, I don't have any entitlements, you're lying. Um like we all have our own entitlements, and like it's like dang, if he like never does anything good for me ever again, or like would I be able to really stand firm in my faith? And like that was like a big question I like thought about during outreach. It was like, would I actually be able to? And then like this is like what I brought up during intercession just for like my team to ponder on because I was like, dang, like God encountered me with this. And this brought up like a song which is called like what a god. I don't know, like we sing it very often. I'm not gonna sing it for y'all, but like the words I don't even have them written down. It's like if the highest place I reach is at your feet, then like I've had something like that, like y'all get the gist. But like I feel like it's so easy, it's easy for us to like sing these songs and be like, Yes, God is so good and he's done so much for me already. But like, in all truth, would I actually be okay and satisfied? Like, if he like didn't do anything good for me ever again. And it's like, dang, so that's like one of the big things I was pondering a lot on outreach, and because like our ministry was so slow, we had a lot of time to think and ponder with God, and so that was really like we had so much time to think about all of the things, um, but that was like one of the big ones, and again, like our entitlements. Oh, wait, it's actually in here. Um, yeah, like I said, God was raising a lot of entitlements in me, and I was like, dang, like frick, I have so many. There was one time in lecture phase where this guy was talking about like 10 entitlements, and we were supposed to like stand up if we had like the entitlement like in our heart, and I stood up for all ten, and I was like, dang, I have like 10 entitlements, but like we have so many, and I think like in a deeper level, like like one of the big entitlements I have is like I have a dream of getting a husband and having kids, which I feel like everyone kind of like has that like dream, but it's like what if like if God like doesn't like provide or like that's not my path, like will I be okay? Like if He doesn't do that for me, or even like as simple as like us being able to go to church, like that's such a privilege that we have, and it's like I feel like we like I'm entitled, I feel like I'm entitled to do that, and it's like I'm not, but and there's like so many people, like especially in the nations, who aren't able to do that, or if they are like they have to literally like have it be a complete secret, and so yeah, that's like what was it going on in my heart? Um oh wait, you can move the slide down yeah, that one. Oh wait, no, yeah. Okay, so we did a lot of um EV, but we got to do two things which were so special, just like switch it up. Um my my team and like three girls got to go to a Sudanese refugee church, which if you didn't know, like a lot of the people from Sudan are like going into Egypt, and like even people from like Libya and everything, like everyone's just like going into Egypt because it's like safe there. But actually, like recently while we were in Egypt, the Sudan, like I don't know, like government was telling Egypt that like to like actually like send them back, and so like they weren't safe there anymore, and so we actually got to go speak out one of their churches and just encourage these like women who like their husbands are like literally like like taken into jail and like they don't know where like their family is, and so it was really like encouraging to be able to go into that environment and like just encourage them, which it's like dang, like what am I supposed to do? There is this girl on my team who is like, like, what am I supposed to say? Like, I've never been in war, like I don't know how to like encourage these people, but it was just like no, like, guys, they're the sweetest people I've actually ever met, too. Like, I'm like, dang, if that happened to me, I feel like I wouldn't be that nice. Um, but then we also got to go to a special needs school and like just play with these kids and like do skits and just like literally love on them, and it was like so amazing. And we got to like they made like crafts and we got to like buy them and then the money would like go to their family. It was so it was like one of my favorite days of outreach. But that's what the yeah, that's what those pictures are. And then I guess I can talk about like the culture in Cairo, it's so different from America. Um, I think at least a lot of like the Middle East as well, but like in Cairo, like there's such a warm culture, and America is so cold, which like like I feel like you wouldn't like think that, but like it literally is because even during Eevee, like it was hard to connect with them, like in like a religious like level. But if you went up to someone and be like, hey, like I just want to talk, they'd be like, Oh my gosh, like come over and my mom will cook you a whole meal and like we can talk. I'm like, what the frick? Because like literally in Kona when I would go up to people and be like, wait, like, do you know Jesus? Like, I was talking to one of these, like, this like older lady like in Kona in a grocery store, and I was like just trying to be like, Hey, like, I have a Bible, do you want it? Like, I like do you know who Jesus is? And she, I'm not gonna repeat what she told me, but she was like, get the heck out of here. And I was like, Okay, like that, like would never happen to us in like Cairo, and so the culture is definitely like so different, and it taught me like a lot about family. I think like just the way that they love their family, especially during Ramadan, like we got to be there, like for Ramadan, which was so amazing just to like see that, but like they break fast like every night, like with their whole family, like they have like their whole family there, and it's so cool, it was so cool. And like two of my teammates actually got invited to go and break the fast like with their family, like for a meal, and it was so amazing, like they're so like hospitable, and like they take family so seriously, and I feel like that's something I haven't been doing, and so they taught me like a lot about that, and then like also hearing like during EV. Sorry, I have to like highlight it or so I'm not gonna know, but like um during EV, like we would talk to them like during those interviews, and a lot of the answers they had, like about their God, like I would say the same thing, and so it was really interesting to like learn about that and be like, like they'd be like, Yeah, like I know my God loves me, and like when I pray, I feel closer to him. I'm like, dang, wait, same. So, like, like it was like really cool to hear about that and just like seeing the father's heart and like literally everyone there, like, and just they taught, I think, me and my team like just so much, especially about like loving your neighbor, which is so important, especially nowadays. I feel like like in America, I'm like, dang, like, we do not know how to love our neighbor that well, and like they do it so well in like such a nice way. It was like so amazing to like hear that, and then I think like some other things that like I also God was teaching me on outreach was because it was so slow. Um, he taught me how to like just sit still and be with him, and like I don't always have to be like go, go, go, because I feel like even like when I was here at home, like I was like, Oh, I have to do this and this and this and this, and it's like bro, just chill out and just like sit with me. And so it's something I've kind of always struggled with is to just like be calm and just like sit with him, and that's something he really like taught me on outreach, and then also my quiet times in Egypt with my whole team, just because we had so much time to like sit with him, like he spoke so much, and like I could talk about it like all the time, like this whole like day about like all the things he was speaking to me, but it was like so insane, and it like his presence like felt so close in Egypt, and it was like such a blessing to be able to just like sit on like the roof and just like like spend time with him, and it felt like he was like so close. Um, and then like the last thing I wanted to say about outreach is because it was hard, and it was hard just because of like where we were, but also like there were other things that like was happening, but I'm not gonna like talk about that because it's like Halous in the future or the future, the past. Um but even though like outreach was hard, it was like like my leaders did such a great job at like telling us like outreach is not for us and it's not about what we want to do, and like we're just going here, and God sent us here, and he like put us all on this team for a reason, which was super hard for me to understand because at first I was like, I don't want to go to Egypt, like get me off this plane, like I like I don't want to be here, I hate this country. Like, and I've never even been there, but it's like dang like God put me on this team for a reason, and even after, like, it's hard to be like, Wait, why'd you send me here? Because the ministry was so hard and it was so slow, and we literally didn't get any salvations, but it was like, no, like you planted seeds and you like prayed and you like prophesied over this country and was like, no, Egypt is gonna be like a leading sending country, and like Egypt is gonna be a Christian nation, and it was just so amazing. And so, yeah, that was like my outreach, and I guess I could talk about like my like what's after DTS, which everyone's like asking me, oh my gosh, what are you doing? I'm like, chill, I don't know. Um but I feel like a lot like in Kona, God like in Kona, he like I feel like people would be like, Oh, my heart burns for this like place, and I'd be like, What do you mean your heart burns for this? Like, I didn't really understand that, but like God like made my heart burn for Africa, and so that's why like I wanted to go there so bad. But like also, like when I was in Egypt, I realized like no, he was actually teaching me like my heart burns for northern Africa, and like I like love this like part of like this place, and yeah, and so God like was really speaking a lot to me about Africa, especially in Egypt. Um, he spoke to me a lot about like South Sudan and like this country, so that's why I was so excited to like be able to speak to like some of those people. Um, and then also one thing he was speaking to me, which I've talked to you like Brie a little bit about, but he was um talking to me a lot about starting a girls' group back home. Cause I um I was like, dang like god, how am I gonna like bring all the things I've learned like back home? Like, what am I supposed to do? Just like freaking be by myself again. But like, no, he was like, no, you can start this girls' group, because that's also one of the things we got to do in Egypt, was we got to like meet a lot of the Christian girls, and like the one of the things I had in common was like, yeah, like I just don't have any community and I don't know any other Christians because it's like I'm in this Muslim nation, like I don't know what to do. So we got to bring like 15 girls together like every week and just like have worship with them, and like they're still doing it as we're gone, like they're still like hosting every week, which is so amazing, and I like have full faith that it's like gonna grow into something so much bigger. But God was like, No, like you can do that at home, and so I have no idea what that means and how I'm gonna do it, but that's like something that he was speaking about, and then after DTS, um, I was planning before I even went to like Egypt. I was like, Okay, fine fragrance. Kona is actually moving to do their own thing. Um, so it's not gonna be warm anymore, it's just fire and fragrance, and they're moving to North Carolina. Um, so I was like, dang, like, I'm gonna follow them and I'm gonna staff because like that's what I want to do. And like God was like, Wait, actually, you're not doing that. And so he gave me this opportunity to actually um go to South Africa and staff at their fire and fragrance base, which is something I've been heavily like thinking about doing. I don't know if I'm doing that yet. It's definitely not set in stone, and God's always speaking and changing his plans for me, so I'm like, dang, like, I don't know. But that's definitely something I've been like thinking about and praying about like for the future. So yeah, but I think like the only like way I can like sum up the last six months, which is like actually impossible because it was so amazing and like I'm so blessed. But like I just fell in love with Jesus. Like, if I could say one thing, I literally just fell like wildly in love with Jesus, and it grows at more and more like each day. Like, I'm like, dang, this is like the most I can love him, and like every day it gets bigger. And so I'm like, like, that's probably like the biggest thing like I can sum up. And yeah, I think like learning about like all of this and about these like countries, I think like the only question I have is like, dang, how can I know all of this and experience all this and not go? Like, how could I not go? And so I don't know like what the future is for me, like yet, and like if I'm like, dang, like I'm gonna be a full-time missionary, like I have no idea what that is, but I know God's telling me that like I'm not like done with it yet. And so the question that I have like on my heart, like every day, is like, dang, how could I not go? And so, yeah, that's what I have today, and yeah.
SPEAKER_01I have two questions to close. What do you feel like God taught you about yourself?
SPEAKER_04Right.
SPEAKER_02Um, God taught me about myself. He taught me a lot about like how to love myself and what like like I said, like what the Bible actually says about me. And like he also taught me that I'm not an introvert and like I love to speak to people, and talking to people is like one of my favorite things, and that like I'm actually like like I don't have to be scared to do Eevee because like I'm literally like a troll and I love to talk to people and I love to make friends. And so, yeah, I feel like that's like what God is teaching me.
SPEAKER_01I love it. Okay, and then what is one thing that God taught you about himself? Give me a second, okay.
SPEAKER_02You can't put me on the spot like this. Um, God taught me a lot about himself that oh he taught me a lot how to see him like as a father and like not just like as like a friend, like specifically during like lecture phase, he was like I had a lot of people come up to me like and give me like words and be like, no, God like wants to like show himself to you like as a father. And so he taught me like a lot about like no, like he's a father, like and a friend, and like he's both, and so like I've learned to like especially like how to talk to him just like all the time every day, like it doesn't have to be like in a quiet time or anything, like I can talk to him like when I'm driving and be like, oh, I'm Ubering with Jesus and just like talk to him, like like things like that, and just like how to like like spend time with him like all the time and not just like in a specific time of the day.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, love it. Thank you. This is awesome. We're gonna have you stay up here because there's people that are about to go on a mission strip, and we'd like you to pray for them if that's cool. Is that okay? Okay, um, well, you guys, yeah, have you ever heard so many words from her? Incredible, right?
SPEAKER_03If you remember who asked her to talk before about what she was gonna be doing before she went to DTS, do you remember? Yeah. Rachel's like spoon feeding you. It's so amazing though. And I'm like sitting here just so awesome.
SPEAKER_01It's so awesome. And it's it's just the beginning, which is so cool. And I know like this is you and this has been you the whole time, just buried under lies, right? So here you are. I love it. It's the the purity of and joy and and excitement is so refreshing. And you're 18, right?
SPEAKER_04Following Jesus for how many, how long? Two years. Two years. Yeah, I'm convicted.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, pretty amazing. Thank you. Um, yeah, this world needs your you.
unknownHallelujah.
SPEAKER_01Uh we love you. Thank you so much for sharing, and we look forward to we'll be praying for you for kind of this in-between and next step decision making. That's probably like the biggest thing, right? Cool. So and your girls' group.
unknownI know.
SPEAKER_01And Bree, you just applied to YWM Kona, didn't you?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm about to.
SPEAKER_01So that's very exciting. Bree is finishing her application for YM Kona. So we're gonna have just a flood of young, passionate people, and then this crew is going to Brazil in July.
unknownYeah, okay.
SPEAKER_01And Bree is yes, I'm so excited that you're going. So I am just so eager to know these young people first. But for what, like, also, you can disciple me, you can disciple them. Just because of your age doesn't mean anything. It's that's how God created us for relationships. So we all learn something from each other, and you guys teach me so much and convict me so much, and I'm just so excited to see you each individually function in who God's made you to be. It's so refreshing, and there's like a something about Gen Z. You're Gen Z, right?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01Okay. I'm sorry, I'm old and pregnant now, I can't remember anything. Um there's something about Gen Z that just has this, like, as you can tell, it's just like I'm they want authenticity, they want the real. Um, I was talking to a videographer at a wedding I was shooting with Alyssa yesterday, and he made this comment about how the uh type of film that people want for weddings now isn't the curated montage with a pretty song over it. They want the raw footage. So the younger generations are going back to, they just want the home video, they want the real story, they want the unfiltered, like day-in-the-life content. And with social media, that move of AI is coming and all this stuff, they want realness, and who's more real than Jesus? You know? So this is very exciting to see all of us. And I that's that identity piece. I think God's doing something huge with that. If you, no matter what your age, stepping into who God's made you to be with your skills, talking to people at work the way he made you to, Pam. You know, it's so amazing. So thank you. We love you. And um, we're gonna close the service with uh Mark and Shelly are going to Peru tomorrow?
SPEAKER_03Thursday, not tomorrow.
SPEAKER_01Thursday. Not tomorrow. So if you guys want to come up, I'm gonna have Dylan pray for you. Is that cool?
SPEAKER_04Cool, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um, and what are you guys doing in Peru?
unknownI have no idea.
SPEAKER_01You're going. You're showing up to Peru to do loving people for Jesus. I love it. Okay.
SPEAKER_04Okay. We're gonna join.
unknownWe're gonna join.
SPEAKER_01Oh, my parents are invited to to pray, I suppose.
SPEAKER_04I even said on Wednesday, I said today. I'll have you pray for me if you have no fear up here. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Public speaking, not your favorite thing, but you're you're gonna rock it. It's gonna be awesome. How long are you guys gone for? Alright. Okay. Well, let's bless them on their trip. Thursday.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Let's just stand together. We're gonna wrap this up. Let's do that.
unknownOh, he was trying.
SPEAKER_03Oh, wait, wait, how are we doing this? Oh, we're just not.
SPEAKER_00We're just gonna go.
SPEAKER_02Like, okay. We can all rumble in prayer and then I can close. How about that?
SPEAKER_00Rumble? Is that you said I learned.
SPEAKER_02Okay, alright.
unknownWhat does that mean?
SPEAKER_02Like everyone just like rumbles in prayer at the same time, and then I close it out.
SPEAKER_03Oh, okay. Okay, look at that. What's on your heart? Okay.
SPEAKER_00You can do it all half.
SPEAKER_02I just thank you for giving them this opportunity to go to this beautiful country and just share the gospel and like um serve these people, God. I just pray for safety over their travels there and back and while they're there, Jesus, that your hand of protection just be on them the whole time, God. And I just pray the spirit of peace on them as they're talking and they have like no idea what they're gonna say. God, I just pray that the Holy Spirit like just flows through them, that it's not them who's talking, it's you, God, and that their words just be able to just encounter these people so um divinely, God. I just pray for divine encounterment encounters um while they're there, Jesus. Um, that the you give them the people that you want them to meet, Jesus. And God, I just pray this peace over them again as they're doing these things that I know like they don't want to do and they don't want to speak. But like they just have this confidence over them that like surpasses all fear. And so, yeah, I just thank you for this wonderful couple um for putting them in this church, Jesus, and for having them be able to like um just come back and share their story, Jesus. And yeah, and yeah, I just pray for them um over this trip, Jesus, in Jesus' name, amen.
