SPEAKER_01

Up until now, we've been holding up at a horseshoe overlook, trying to stay one step ahead of the law and the other skills. We got tangled up in sheep wrestling when Leviticus Cornwall showed up and ended with a bloody massacre in Valentine. And Dutch got us all packing up camp once again. New territory, new plans, new opportunities. Now we're trading the wide open plains for the red dirt in the soupier of Le Moine, setting up along Flatiron Lake at Clemens Point, already weasling our way in with the local sheriff. Pull up a stool, grab a whiskey, and get comfortable. I'm Sam. And this is the outlaw haven't. The new sound. We go find Dutch gazing longingly out at the lake.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. Just being a broodster, just standing there with his ears behind his back.

SPEAKER_01

The way you stand when you're at work. Yep. Quite funny. It's so funny that like I can picture that. And I've hung out with you one time in person and we were sitting on a bench the whole time. Why can I picture you doing that though?

SPEAKER_00

Not much longer. I'm so excited. I can't wait.

SPEAKER_01

One more month.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

One more month. So the main goals in this mission are to catch and return Anders Anderson to jail within five minutes and 30 seconds. Knock out Anders Anderson without taking a hit. Catch a fish with Dutch and Hosea. Have you ever gotten gold on this mission? Have you ever I cannot knock him out without taking a hit? It's impossible. If anyone has done it, if anyone can knock him out without taking a hit, please, please comment on this somewhere. Comment on our post on Instagram or something and tell me how you did it because I don't think it's possible.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, because I I tried to do it for Gold Rush and nope.

SPEAKER_01

I gave up. I was like, it's not possible. He fucking stabs the shit out of you like immediately. There's no way around it. Someone will comment and be like, this is how you do it. He doesn't hit you. And I'll be like, mmm.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. It's like even blocking and stuff. I feel like the blocks never work. Because then, well, you can't get a fucking punch in.

SPEAKER_01

How the fuck are you gonna block a knife?

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_01

As Arthur. Yeah. Again, I guess in real life, maybe you sort of could find a way. If you were trained. Yeah. Oh my god. That kind of train, man. Oh man. Okay. Um the one objective that can prove challenging here is to avoid being hit by Anders Anderson. Focus on blocking his attacks and swiftly hit him with a punch or two when an opening presents itself in repeat. I'm sorry, instructions unclear. No. I tried to block and it does not work.

SPEAKER_00

I do find the block is finicky though.

SPEAKER_01

It is. I mean I could do it easier when I was playing on Xbox because I had the delete controller with the back paddles. So I could like block and punch like kind of simultaneously. But like trying to do that on PlayStation without the back paddles is really fucking hard. Yeah. For me.

SPEAKER_00

Right. I don't know. Maybe it's not just me, but Yeah, I haven't tried it since I um did it for Gold Rush and that was well. Tried to do it for Gold Rush and that was a couple of weeks ago. So Might have to try it again.

SPEAKER_01

Even though I am only I am I think five missions away from Gold Rush now.

SPEAKER_00

Hell yeah. Yeah, I think you're at like 62, 63 last night.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I got like two or three more done today before we got on.

SPEAKER_00

Hell yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Anyway. So we go talk to Dutch at the shore where he's gazing longingly out at the lake, pondering life, all his life choices that got him here. I don't know. I don't know what Dutch is thinking.

SPEAKER_00

Because from that point we just walk up to Hosea and then um he's like, hey, old girl, show me this crick you've been pissing in. Cute. Um I mean, hey, the curious couple and their unrelearly son. But yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So happy Pride Month. You know what I wish they would have done for this mission? Like I know it was because they were like, before there was any of them back there, it was us. Part of me wishes that they would have had John, but that's just a selfish part of me.

SPEAKER_00

Well, at the same time, John can't swim, and you're the whole They're on a boat.

SPEAKER_01

You don't have to swim. He wouldn't need to swim. He's on a boat.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe he's just really scared of water. And then he gets on the boat and just starts panicking.

SPEAKER_02

There's so much water! Arthur! Arthur!

SPEAKER_00

There's water! Hold me! There's what the fuck is wrong with me? There's one piece of fan art that I seen like years ago had to have been back in like 2019. Um, but it's a still from a movie, and it's just Dutch chucking Sean into a fun lane. I don't know why it's so funny, but I've like I take that as canon.

SPEAKER_01

Like they ride out and Jose tells us again, I was once in this area with Bessie. Like, I wanna know where all he went with Bessie in the like short time that they were away from the gang. Because like we were up at like the Grizzlies, and he was like, I was once in this area with Bessie, and then we're down in like Louisiana, I was once in this area with Bessie. That's my Jose impression.

SPEAKER_00

Honestly, it is interesting how I mean I want to know where all the gang went, like entirely.

SPEAKER_01

If we were to like actually look at a real map of the United States, I mean map out where all they went. Because we go from Ohio to Tucson to Montana to Blackwater to Valentine to like Nebraska.

SPEAKER_00

To Valentine, to Nebraska, and then the year prior. New Orleans. Yeah, this mission. You go riding into this creek that is just part of the same lake. And then you run into Josiah Trelawney in the back of a prison wagon and okay. Yes. It looks sad. I'm just fidgeting with I have like a string that's tied to like my dice bag that I have just hanging out of my drawer of my desk, and I'm just like picking at it.

SPEAKER_01

You say a bag like a Minnesotan bag. Almost like I am one. Dude, imagine how much I'm gonna talk like you after we hang out. Ethan already gives me shit all the time for it. Like, we're not even online, and he'll be like, God, you talk like Zy.

SPEAKER_00

I'm like, this is gonna be so fun. It's fine, you're gonna fit right in. You're gonna be here for like an hour, and you're just gonna be right into it.

SPEAKER_01

I'm gonna be more Minnesotan than most Minnesotans. Just my fucking camouflaging that I do. Right?

SPEAKER_00

What's the actual term for it? I don't know. I know what you mean because I am the same way.

SPEAKER_01

I just like become whoever I'm around. I just adopt that personality as my own. So now I am just you. Yep. And you are just me, and that is why we are what we are. Okay, so we we talked to the sheriff. The the sheriff is like, Are you a Scott? And Touch is like, Partly the best part.

SPEAKER_00

And yeah, he introduces himself as Hoggy Macintosh. Hogie.

SPEAKER_01

Can you imagine giving birth and looking down at your little baby that you just spent nine months growing, like putting your heart and soul into? You're exhausted, your back hurts, you're everything hurts. You're bleeding, you're swollen, you're exhausted. You look down at the little sweet little life that has just been flopped into your arms after growing it. And you're like, hmm, hoagie. I mean, honestly, I was so hungry after I had Bailey. I would totally have named Bailey Hoagie, anywhere pizza, calzone, spaghetti, cheese, enchilada, burrito, burrito for some shit that I would have done when I was having a kid. What we're talking about. Hoagie Macintosh. See, that's such a hungry name. That is such a stoner hungry name. Hoagie Macintosh. Hoagies and apples. I'm hungry. We got the munchies for a hoagie and a Macintosh. Apple. That is what I'm going to name my son.

SPEAKER_00

That you won't have.

SPEAKER_01

They won't have. Rip. Anyway. Uh, so all the prisoners jump out of the wagon, they jump on the train, and the sheriff panics, and I can't have more scandal. I want to know what scandals he had before that.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, it's gray. So I want I want records.

SPEAKER_01

But yes. And so Dutch is just like, Arthur will catch him. Arthur will save the day. The way Dutch talks. And so uh Arthur takes Archibald with him, the deputy, and they jump on the back of Arthur's. Well, Archie jumped, Archibald jumps on the back of Arthur's horse, and they gallop off after the train. And there's just a cow grazing happily on the sidelines. I don't know why that was an important detail, but it wasn't my brain. And so they're like racing off after the train, and Archie's like, Archibald. I don't know. I keep saying Archie. Archibald's like, jump on the train. You ride like my grandmother. And Arthur's just like, You are something else. I think that's funny. I want to know how Archie's grandma rides. I want to meet Archie's grandma, crazy grandma. Oh god. So they like race on the train and they he catches up to Anders Anderson and then they take him to the sheriff, and Archie gives you the little tour on the way back talking about Caligar Hall. He talks about how they're in desperate need of rain in these parts, and he talks about the bracewaits because that's all the Greys ever talk about.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, the part that cracks me up about this mission is when you're getting off of the train with Anders Anderson over your shoulder, and Archie's just like, Did you get him? And he like cracks the little door open for Arthur. It's like such an underrated scene. I think I crack up every single time that Arthur has to like shove the door open farther so he can actually get out. Because Archie just like cracks it a little bit. Yeah. It makes me laugh so much for no reason. But I'm stupid.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. We uh get back into Rhodes to the sheriff. But yeah, you get back to the sheriff's office and bring Andrews inside, and then they let Trelani go and up to the room.

SPEAKER_01

And you see you see Bo Gray sitting outside.

SPEAKER_00

And then as you're walking away with Josiah to like where he's staying in roads, you can leave the sheriff. He ends up being like, I these better be nasty rumors with uh that you've been like sneaking around with one of the Braithwaites or something like that.

SPEAKER_01

Wretched Penelope Braithwaite. Mm-hmm. I really like Trelawney's caravan that he's staying at. Like I want that for me and my friends.

SPEAKER_00

On the way, like as you're walking with Trelawney to his caravan, he's talking about how there's like super agents, and that was immediately like, oh, that's all talk. I've had a price on my head for 13 years. In five states. In five states. And of course that's leading back to 87. The but you can find the newspaper scrap for in Arthur's tent with the first bank robbery. Which really it makes no sense for that to be when he first got the price on his head, considering how him and Hosea escaped Kettering. Right.

SPEAKER_01

And that's back in the 70s. Because he like went to prison or whatever. He like went to jail in Kettering and then escaped. It's just like they're like, okay, forgiven.

SPEAKER_00

Even then, I feel like for the way that he escaped, like there'd still be a price on his head. Huh. Because even then it's not like because him and Jose over still riding together. The gang was formed at that point. Well, about to be formed. Because a few months later they picked up Arthur.

SPEAKER_01

Well, maybe when you were on the run for like 10 years, there's like a expiration date on the price on your head.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Apparently not for Colm. Oh. Because it's said for I think two decades for him. Well, I don't know. Oh. I thought it was two decades, but no.

SPEAKER_01

And then they go fishing. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Well, you get the option to go fishing, but it's required for gold. But yeah, you go down to Flatiron Lake, hop in a boat. There's a few kind of interesting conversations, probably the most two of the most kind of important ones. Dutch talks about his mother Greta being b buried in Blackwater, which he didn't know until he found out from an uncle of his years later. Because last he knew he she was still outside of Philly and that he left home at 14.

SPEAKER_01

And then And then there's a conversation about the salmon that they caught up in Montana and then Hopper ate him.

SPEAKER_00

Well, they didn't even catch it because Arthur bought it from the fishmonger, and that was a different story.

SPEAKER_01

But I like that story. Yeah, that is another good one. Fishing all day and then he comes back with beautiful bath and the fishmonger the next day says, How were the how was that bath? Yeah, how was the bass? I think it is a good mission to do to like learn more about like their backstory and shit. Yes. That we don't already know.

SPEAKER_00

And then he had like a victor camp. That basically that mission. Brings the fish to Pearson, Dutch is being Dutch and mansplaining in the back of the boat.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, like that kind of just leads us into the next mission. Further questions of female suffrage. Where you find Pearson and Sadie getting in an argument, a heated argument. Very knife point. Jim signed my book. Um, I gotta show you since it's right in front of me. Hello, where are you? I had him sign it. You crazy goddamn fish bite. Hell yeah. When I had him sign that, he laughed and he was like, No one's asked me for that. I forgot I said that.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, interesting. I mean, it's the introduction just to kind of show to Sadie's Sadie's coming out of her shell now. Yes. For this mission for gold, you need to fend off the Lemoyan Raiders in less than one minute, get five headshots, finish with at least 85% accuracy, and complete the mission without consuming any health items.

SPEAKER_01

All four objectives here depend on your performance during the shootout. If you trigger Deadeye early with several enemies on screen, you can pick them off with headshots and one fell swoop. Feel free to sprint toward the remaining targets to expedite the process.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so this mission will start, like we said, with Sadie and Pearson kind of arguing and then Arthur interrupting them and stopping it. Um stopping a murder. And Sadie's kind of like, me and my husband, we shared the work. Her basic this is basically her being like, I don't want to be just I don't want to stuck and cook.

SPEAKER_01

Clean your dirty laundry and cook your dinners. Um I think it's funny that like, well, maybe not funny, I don't know what the word is for it, but like funny in a way that like Pearson's the camp cook. He's being like misogynistic towards Sadie being like, you need to stay in camp and cook all day. And then like Sadie gets to go kill a bunch of Lemoyne readers while Pearson's back at camp cooking.

SPEAKER_00

Really, the only other woman that actually helps with like the cooking and stuff is Abigail. Because you can see her have like at the uh Chuck again chopping vegetables and she'll like washes. Doesn't Susan do that too? Um Susan washes. She'll wash like dishes, but I don't know if she ends up like chopping anything.

SPEAKER_01

She just sneaks herbs into it. Yep.

SPEAKER_00

But yeah, you get on a wagon, Pearson tells you to mail a letter. Your Aunt Kathy. But yeah, Sadie breaks into his mail and immediately starts uh the best. Honestly, I kind of wish we had another moment of that of like just impersonating. I know like letters and shit. But yeah, she goes into like reading it and being it's a letter to his aunt, apparently.

SPEAKER_01

Which we're gonna have we're gonna have more to talk about that on uh upcoming episode.

SPEAKER_00

No, no, no, next week, the week after. So stay tuned for that. She reads the letter, it's basically him talking about how he still hasn't t taken a life, how he's traveled, and how like since we last corresponded, I've traveled widely, making no small name for myself. But yeah, you go into town, um, stop at the general store and Sadie's like, well, pulls out her cattlemen, and it's like you shoot the shopkeeper, pull out your cattlemen, be like, So we're robbing this place, but it's like what are you and we're outlaws, not idiots. And then rob people that are rob other people. We're these people just trying to get by. Yeah, she'll go into the general store, and actually if you sneak in there, like if you go in there after her instead of going to the post office like you're like you're supposed to do. Arthur tells her about the whole Tastus Kilgore thing, which is just something that Strauss ended up set sets up every time they get to a new town. So then it'll all just be under the same alias. And Sadie will like call Arthur like Kilgore and whatnot. Just a little detail. And then he'll go to the post office, send uh letter, but nothing exciting. Come back to the wagon. Sadie's in probably her best outfit in the game. Yes, I love this outfit. It's she's got like a yellow button on the side.

SPEAKER_01

My spawn has arrived. Hoagie Macintosh, it's you.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, this is probably one of Sadie's best outfits in the game. It's the one where she's got the yellow shirt, the uh brown pants. Like she's dressed like a guy instead of normal feminine attire, and everybody's kind of like, oh, what's this? Never.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, you're wearing pants. Dude, I wish we could get how dare. I wish we could get her uh holster, her gun belt. Isn't it just the bullet?

SPEAKER_00

It looks so good. It like goes around her thigh. Well, that I'm gonna get a little bit gun nutty here. Oh no. That is Hollywood.

SPEAKER_01

It looks cool, man.

SPEAKER_00

It looks cool, but that is a complete Hollywood thing because if you like look at actual photos of a lot of old fighters and stuff, they won't have a thigh strap.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, because they're all dude. They can't rock it like a girl can.

SPEAKER_00

It sucks wearing.

SPEAKER_01

They have PPs.

SPEAKER_00

As someone who has walked around with gun holsters strapped to them, I can attest it sucks wearing that.

SPEAKER_01

But did you feel like a badass if it was wrapped around your thigh?

SPEAKER_00

No. Oh, I felt like my thigh was being cut off. Like I get- So even more badass. Like the only thing I can see it being nice for is when you're sitting down, so then it's actually staying stuck to your leg. Otherwise, it's just gonna kind of stay down and you have to manu manually move it. Um whatever.

SPEAKER_01

Let us know in the comments if you want an episode talking about guns, because Zy would just Zai could fill a whole episode talking about guns.

SPEAKER_00

Could very easily fill a whole episode. I have so many gun books.

SPEAKER_01

And it would just be me being like, oh wow. It really would the whole time. But I have like no contribution to that episode. Right. So if you want me to not talk the whole time, comment below.

SPEAKER_00

But on the way back to camp, Sadie tells you that she actually used to play harmonica, and you get an item request for harmonica. She never plays it if you give it back, if you end up getting one for her, which kind of sucks. Um, but Charles does play harmonica, so that's cool. Ben, Duchess actor, also plays harmonica. Random thing I know. Um Does he really? Yeah, he does. I know I've I heard him bring it up in like a panel or something, but I've never I think there was like a clip of him playing because I've seen people talking about it, but I've never never been able to find the clip.

SPEAKER_01

I uh was gonna cosplay Sadie, and so I used Bailey's little harmonica that she had, and I was trying to learn how to play it, and I learned one song. It's actually decently easy. I think my grandpa played harmonica.

SPEAKER_00

Heck yeah. Yeah, I mentioned wanting to play harmonica, and then my dad just pulled out a harmonica from nowhere, and I'm like, oh okay, cool. Yeah, now I kind of play harmonica. So I think my dad still has his.

SPEAKER_01

There's a video of this woman on YouTube playing the harmonica. I've been obsessed with it for like 10 years.

SPEAKER_00

I don't think you've ever sent it.

SPEAKER_01

No, I haven't, but how dare. Uh oh my god, we're I know we're already at 42 minutes and we are one mission in. We're doing great.

SPEAKER_00

Oh wow.

SPEAKER_01

Uh this one, dude. I'm obsessed with this video. This was the reason I wanted to learn to play harmonica. Okay, moving on, because we need to speed this up a little.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, as they're riding, a couple of Lemoyen writers come up alongside the wagon, start talking, and then Sadie takes out a gun, shoots one of them in the face, and then you get no massive shootout. Kill a bunch of Lemoyan writers, and Sadie shows off how much of a badass she really is.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's pretty much it.

SPEAKER_00

Then they ride back to camp. Ride back to camp. But the next mission, back in Rhodes, American distillation, you go into town, go into the sheriff's office, where there is a very much so drunken uh Sheriff Lee Gray and Dutch and Bill are already in there. Bill's just like sitting on or like has one leg propped up on something, just chewing on a piece of fucking grass. Proper hillbilly type shit. Um Arthur, but Arthur comes in. Oh, I forgot to mention. Um Arthur starts going by Arthur Callahan at the beginning of The New South. They go in there and they end up Lee progressively gets drunker and drunker, which is honestly a great scene to watch. Um Dutch ends up getting the gang deputized by taking literally just opening a drawer, taking um deputy deputy badges out of the fucking um Wait, Dutch grabs them? Yeah, Dutch grabs him.

SPEAKER_01

He just reaches in and helps himself.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he opens the drawer, grabs the two badges, and pins it on Arthur and then pins it on himself.

SPEAKER_01

Can you imagine doing that like today in real life? Just like walk into a police station and be like, this is mine now. Yup.

SPEAKER_00

That'd be fucking insane. You end up after Lee basically like drunkenly like orders you out the door. You get on a prison wagon with Archibald and Dutch and Bill mount up behind you following the wagon, and you're basically told to go to a moonshine still that's owned by the Braithwaites. But along the way you end up coming across a wagon that's like totally wrecked. And I think it has two dead bodies outside, two or three, something like that. And then ends up, of course, being the work of the Lumber narrators. There's a letter on the body that Archibald ends up reading as you're continuing to go to the spot. And once you kind of get to the spot, you end up choosing whether you go right or left to knock the Braithwaits out and take them to the wagon. But I guess that'll kind of lead us into like the gold requirements and stuff, I feel like. So the gold for the this mission is win the race back to camp, get 10 headshots, complete the mission without taking any damage, finish with at least 70% accuracy. So you end up hog tying two or three Braithwaits, depending on what direction you pick. Take him over a bridge and place him next to a moonshine wagon. And then Arthur takes some dynamite and places it on the st moonshine still, blowing it up. And then from that point another shootout happens. And from that point you go back, meet up with Archibald and Dutch and Bill. Well, Bill's with you, but I mean you meet back up with them and Archibald's like he's like, Well, we usually take the moonshine for our own consumption, the greedy bastard. Um and Dutch is kind of like no no no no no. So he only takes one, uh Archibald does, and Bill takes the wagon back to camp, and then you and Dutch, you can either choose to ride back to race Dutch back to camp, which you have to do to get gold, or you can just choose not to ride back to camp and you don't have to worry about going back to camp and but you won't get gold.

SPEAKER_01

I love the videos where they I I don't know how they do it because I tried and it doesn't work, but when they hit circle or B to like kick Dutch off of his horse when they're racing him back to camp and they like launch him.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I've seen a lot of videos of like him being like launched over like the hay bales and the fences and stuff by a Hillhaven ranch. Because it's always the weirdest it's so funny when the gang members get yeeted off their horses. And like I love the fact that like they have lions for that, and it's not just like a generic like scream or like grunt or something.

SPEAKER_01

But I love this when that happens. I always get for some reason Dutch always gets launched off of his horse when I'm doing the the alligator mission in chapter four. When we have to go out at night and help Jules get the skiff, and then there's the big alligator.

SPEAKER_00

He's never on his on the count.

SPEAKER_01

When you ride out to when you leave Shadyville to ride out to the shack. Yeah. Like when you're passing by like the slaughterhouse to go towards Sandini. I he always hits a wagon there for me. Huh.

SPEAKER_00

But yeah, you end up getting back to camp. And Dutch is like, you know, you're always like a son to me. Fucking blah blah blah.

SPEAKER_01

I was gonna say you're like a son to me, but you're more than that.

SPEAKER_00

Hate that lion with a burning passion.

SPEAKER_01

I feel like it's also kind of like foreshadowing though. Like there's something about like the way he says that whole thing. Yeah. That was like it's like um like kind of foreshadowing to like the part in chapter six when Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Uh there's uh actually a lot of foreshadowing with like there's a lot more foreshadowing in this game than I realized. Well, speaking of foreshadowing, there's an entire conversation at the campfire with Dutch, Bill, and John, and they're all like um making fun of John's scars. And Bill's like, Oh Marston, you're so tough with all these scars. How'd you get them? blah blah blah. And then Dutch is like, I forget what the conversation is, but he walks over and says something. Like Dutch is kind of being kind of weird, and John's like, What's your problem? And he's like, you know, I didn't get these scars falling over in a church. And Dutch is just like, Not yet, you didn't, which is reference to Red Dead One, where uh Captain DeSanta, once you get to get into Mexico, he ends up bringing you to Chuparosa, and when you get into that church, he knocks you out. And that's that was supposed to be the mission where we get capture uh Bill and Javier.

SPEAKER_01

Oh.

SPEAKER_00

Supposedly. But of course, I know.

SPEAKER_01

I need to play Red Dead One again. As soon as I finish finally getting platinum on PlayStation, on Red Dead 2, I will go back to Red Dead One.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. I mean, hey, it took me under a thousand hours to get the series platinum. Took me 50 hours for Red Dead One, and then I'm almost there. I only have a few more to do. Hell yeah. Next mission. The course is true. I don't know why you said that. I don't know either. But this one's at Kalga Hall, which is the Grey's plantation, and you end up meeting up with Bo Grey, who's he not's at the sh um sheriff's office. You end up talking to Bo, and he's like, There's this girl. It's very much so Romeo and Juliet coded.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Have you um paused to go into photo mode and looked at whatever Bo's reading? No. I forget what it says. I've done it once. Oh. There's like something there. I don't remember what though. Grays and Braithwaits episode. I will tell you what Bo's looking at in his book.

SPEAKER_00

But I'll have to pull that up. Yeah. But gold for this mission is reach Penelope without getting spotted and finish within three minutes. And it's actually kind of interesting. Bo will give you a letter and a gift. A bracelet. Which is a bracelet. But you can actually go to the fence before you go to the Braithwaits. And you can sell the gift for I think ten bucks, but you will lose honor. And there'll actually be like a variation when you get to Penelope.

SPEAKER_01

He usually sends a gift and he's like, nope, no gift.

SPEAKER_00

Nope, no gift. But yeah, you'll end up going over to the Braithwaites, sneaking onto the property, making it to a gazebo, where Penelope's course sending it.

SPEAKER_01

And then talking and just like they'll send me someplace awful to live like Ohio. And all of us Ohioans are like, hey. Actually, some of us are like, yeah. Others are like, hey. Oh H.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's that mission you end up delivering the letter and the bracelet to Penelope. It kind of sucks that we can't read the letter.

SPEAKER_01

I know, I want to read it. I'm nosy. Oh, can you imagine what like sexting would have been like in 1899? My dearest Penelope, I have a meta to do many times without your bloomers. I have sent you a gift. It is a photograph, a tin type of my dick.

SPEAKER_00

That would be you'd have to stand like that for like for 30 seconds.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my god. Alright, keep your dick hard for 30 seconds. For the tin type. To send nudes in 1899. And then tell Arthur, like, don't open it. My good sir, do not open the photo of my dick. Anyway.

SPEAKER_00

The Course of True Love 3. Um that one starts again at Kelga Hall, where I hate this mission. I hate this mission so much. It's so slow. So slow. It's so boring. But you meet up with Bo again outside of Kelga Hall. And he's like, ends up giving you payment, and then um sh and you end up also giving him a letter. And he's like, she's gearing up for a rally, fully expecting her to get killed, blah blah blah. And Arthur's like, if she wants to rally, you gotta let her rally. But you end up riding just outside of Rhodes, where you end up meeting up with Penelope. He's with a whole group of um protesters for women's suffrage. And the only called requirement is to finish within four minutes and 15 seconds. So pretty easy to do.

SPEAKER_01

When you get to the bank and they do their protests and everything, then Bo's cousins walk up and start like harassing them. And then Bo's just like, come on, let's get out of here. And Arthur's all like, Come talk to me around back. Like he's gonna beat the shit out of them. Do you actually beat them up? No, I leave because then I get gold. Okay, fair. But like in the book, it shows Arthur beating him up. And I've never done it. I didn't know you I don't think I knew that you could do that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you can beat him up and knock him out.

SPEAKER_01

Do they give you does that change anything when you go back for him later in chapter six?

SPEAKER_00

No. Oh no, because it just counts as like knocking him out. But yeah, that mission's pretty straightforward. Um so they like ride away. Yeah, you ride uh um I think Boulder Glade. And or like just the outskirts, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And Arthur's all like, where's your money? And I was like, you know, Catherine Braceley has a daughter and no one's seen her in years because she weren't right. Check the shitter, check the shitter, dude. There's our shirt for this episode.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my god, check the shitter, check out it's just the fucking outhouse with the chains on it, the little hands sticking out, dude. Don't check the shitter, dude. I'm doing it. Just the outhouse, even then.

SPEAKER_01

Bo's like, if everyone finds out about Penelope and me, and Arthur just like interrupts him. It's like finds out about Penelope and you. I know about Penelope and you, and I've been here all five minutes. Yeah, whatever, ten minutes.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think it's five or fifteen.

SPEAKER_01

I think it's five. I think it's ten. Anyway, uh, that's when Bo also says, like, uh that rumors about the gold, and he's like, I'm I fear that's just a rumor. Yeah. Bo's the one who's like, sorry, there's no treasure, there's no gold here.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But they keep going for it. Like Arthur didn't just hear that. Right.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I know. It's weird because with the way that it is in the book, because the mission after this is gonna be advertising the new American art. Um, it's kind of odd that we don't get like some sort of like dialogue with like Hosea or somebody where like Arthur's like, yeah, one of them Gray has already said that like there isn't any money or there isn't any gold or whatever.

SPEAKER_01

Right, you'd think that would have been information worth sharing out of all this. It's like Dutch bugs him multiple times to go find out what he can about yeah, because it's like bow and penelope, and then he like doesn't say anything about it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, because like there's even a conversation with like Dutch Arthur and Micah where like they're all like it's an and in the middle of it, there's like an embroidery tale on a Romeo and Juliet. Like they're still like go find out what you can, which is it's weird that it never gets brought up really again. But um, but anyway, the next mission advertising the new American art. Abigail basically you go it's gotta be started in in camp because Abigail will come out of John's tent, which makes no sense because they're not fucking together at that point. She was snooping. She was snooping. She was looking for his tin types.

SPEAKER_02

Anyway.

SPEAKER_00

Anyway, she tells Arthur that John and Hosea are just outside of camp with the moonshine wagon, but John has to do something for Dutch, which is set up for a later mission. But you can go out to like the moonshine stash where they are, they end up talking. John is barely in this mission, he's just there for like the beginning cutscene.

SPEAKER_01

I feel like there's like no point to all of that. There's so much extra hassle for like really not any purpose.

SPEAKER_00

But you end up talking with Hosea and you end up writing to the Braithwaite Manor, which, like, we talked about in um last week's episode with Tori Olsen a little bit. Um so much fun. Oh, that's such a good episode. Highly suggest checking it out because it's got a lot to do with the deep south.

SPEAKER_01

Honestly, if you're gonna learn anything from any of this podcast, it'd be that episode.

SPEAKER_00

A thousand percent. Yes. But you end up going to the Birth Wait Manor, which, like we kind of talked about, is based on a real life plantation, the Oak Alley plantation down in Louisiana. So pretty. I want to see it in real life. Beautiful plantation. Would love to go there. Let's go. Business trip. And it's the only I mean, of course, aside from Sandonis, it's the only like other area that is like basically a direct carbon copy of like a building. Because of course, Sand Denis is based on New Orleans very heavily. Like I just said, this one with the O'Galley plantation. You go there, you meet Katherine Braithwaite, who's the man of the house.

SPEAKER_01

I'm kind of surprised like with how how much Catherine is like the leader of the Braithwaites. With like how misogynistic Rhodes is and shit. Like surprised that there's no like shitty dudes being shitty about that fact, unless there is that I've never heard.

SPEAKER_00

At the same time, all the businesses in town are owned by the Greys. So I mean that's fair.

SPEAKER_01

There's really it's the Greys town, but like you don't hear of like any conversations where they're like, and the Braithwaits are there's a woman in charge of the Braithwaits.

SPEAKER_00

Like, there's yeah, really, there's not really any talk in town either with like just the Braithwaits in general.

SPEAKER_01

I mean they talk about Braithwaits all the time with Greys, like half the conversation with the Greys that you have are like the Braithwaits, yeah. The Grays specifically, yeah. It's kind of never talk about like they don't say any like sexist shit. I mean, obviously, that's probably Rockstar's doing in reality.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I mean, yeah, we talked about that we talked about that too with Tori too.

SPEAKER_01

It's probably something like that. Just trying to be careful with their things, yeah. But I mean, they say a lot of shit to them when they're doing the fucking protest speech.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. We end up meeting up with Catherine, and then her three other sons come out Garrett, Gareth, and Bartholomew.

SPEAKER_01

Garrett and Gareth.

SPEAKER_00

Yep, Garrett.

SPEAKER_01

You really would like to start running out of names. You had so many kids.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm. And then of course, her daughter is um in the outhouse. Her only daughter. Um not Greta. Nope, nope, that's Gertrude's mom. Gertrude. Yes, Gertrude. But yeah, she's the only daughter of the Braithwaites, which is kind of just interesting. Jose is basically like trying to cut on her into buying like her own moonshine, and she Catherine tells him to go ahead and bring it back into roads and just s give out the entire wagon for free.

SPEAKER_01

I don't okay, maybe it's just me being stupid, which is highly likely. Um what's why did why? What why are they giving away the moonshine less business?

SPEAKER_00

Because the saloon is owned by the grave.

SPEAKER_01

But like, okay, you're wasting your own moonshine too, and you're paying them.

SPEAKER_00

So who really won here? I mean, it's a blood feud, so it's like she really don't want to.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, you showed them like but yeah, it is kind of at the same time kind of interesting because she had to she had her moonshine stolen from her and she had to pay Hosea money. Yeah. And now she lost all her moonshine that she could have just like gotten back.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm. And could have sold. It is kind of interesting with like later on, we'll get into this, probably well, a little bit in next week's episode and part two when we actually cover um blood feuds. But there's a letter from Bronte you can find in there, and it kind of is like hinting in that you find in the Braithwaite's house. Yeah, that there it's in the Braithwaite manor. If you go into like that first room, it's in the same room where you find the Braithwaite crest in, and it's kind of talking about how there's basically kind of roughly hinting that like the Braithwaits are struggling financially. Oh, maybe I have read that. I think you have. Um because I think I brought it up with like one of our sessions. But during this mission, after talking with Catherine, you take the wagon back into roads to the grey. And basically just give it out for free. Jose dresses Arthur up in a straw hat and a pipe and pretend he just is like, You're an idiot. Be mute. Fucking good old fountain. But you end up giving giving the moon channel out for free until the party gets crashed by the Lemoyne Raiders, which brings us into our gold requirements.

SPEAKER_01

See, okay, going back to what I was saying, this mission doesn't make any fucking sense to me. Partially because I'm like, what did Catherine Braithwaite have to gain from it? Like you inconvenienced and lost money for yourself as much as Grace. So I mean, that's all she's gonna care about, because it's just congrats, you win, I guess. And then the Lemoyne Raiders break it up, be like, that's our moonshine you stole from us. Like, yeah, I get that. But like, yeah, uh, your boss is the one who told us to come here, so fuck off.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. But fucking.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I guess maybe maybe Catherine was like setting that up on purpose.

SPEAKER_00

I could see that.

SPEAKER_01

I could see that too, actually. Um that I I just like figured that out in my head. But she could have been like, hey, these guys stole our moonshine, go kill them at the parlor house. Oh, brilliant.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, the gold requirements for this mission is headshot five Lemoyne raiders in the saloon, finish with at least 90% accuracy, and complete the mission without consuming any health items. So, I mean, if you're pretty good at shooting, you pretty much got this one in the box.

SPEAKER_01

I love that mission though. Like it's fun.

SPEAKER_00

Gold rush, that one was a good one. It's easy to get gold on. But yeah, you just after like the you just get into get into another shootout at the saloon. Um oh boy, another mission that ends in a shootout. Right. There's gonna be a lot of those where it's just like shootout, whatever, who cares? Moving on. Um, but yeah, you get a new shootout, Hosea gets overpowered, so you end up shooting Lemoyne Raider that's trying to attack him. He ends up getting fucking sh pushed into the wagon from the balcony above. Hosea gets roughed up in this mission.

SPEAKER_01

He really does, and he takes it like a champ for real. Like if I fell from the balcony into the wagon like that with someone on top of me, honestly, I'd be down and out for at least a month.

SPEAKER_00

When you take into consideration fucking Curzon and the shit that happened, like while they were recording, yeah. Did something happen? He broke his leg while playing I think hockey or skiing or something, and he still worked. Oh damn, yeah, I didn't know that. Um, but yeah, it's kind of crazy. But like my back could never. Uh-uh. Nope. That'd be dead. Your ankles could never no. But yeah, we after that, um, you hop down in the wagon after Hosea gets fucking pummeled and ride back to camp. That's that mission.

SPEAKER_01

Moving on to uh horse flesh for dinner, which you get kind of an option. You can either do horse flesh for dinner or the fine joys of tobacco at this point, but we're gonna go with horse flesh first because that's what's in the book first. Yep. Go ahead and take it away. Oh, so you have to go start at Caligol, where you go talk to you find Tavish talking with John and Javier in the stables at Caligol. And Tavish is just the worst human. I despise him.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, everyone is one that bashes Catherine. So does he? Yeah, he was like the old hag.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

The old hag and her sons.

SPEAKER_01

That's just being honest. Catherine's a bitch. Catherine is an old hag. She really is. I'm totally. So then you he says that there's horses at Braithwaite's stables that are prize thoroughbreds, which they're not even thoroughbreds, says they're worth 5,000. And they're all like crazy old fool. They're just like hoping that they get even a third of that. They ride to the Braithwaite's and there's a guard, and they're just like, We're here to see Mr. Braithwaite. They're like, I haven't heard any about any of this. And they're like, Okay, then we'll go somewhere else. And he's like, Okay, okay, go ahead. Basically. Not wanting to lose them any business since they're clearly struggling. The guard lets them in, and this is at the point where you can use the little glitch to get into the stables, go in the back way while you're riding around to the stables, you go in the back window. You can take either of the Arabians or the Dark Bay Turquomen, which you can't get until the epilogue is drawn. So if you wanted that horse, there's your workaround to get it sooner as Arthur, and it has the wraith weight B on the butt. Yep. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Or you can do it too when you're uh once you lasso them outside of uh Clemens Cove. Just lasso them and then hold left bumper to feed them traits to get your bonding up.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I didn't know you could do it that way.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's the only way I knew how to do it. I didn't know about the window.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah, if you go in through the window of the stables that the braith weights, jump in the window, you can feed it a bunch of food. And then once it bonds, you feed it like one more time, and then you just go back out and do the mission as normal. And then once the mission's over.

SPEAKER_00

Where you get it? Yeah, that's basically all you do for there. Once you get glassed.

SPEAKER_01

But like it doesn't make any sense to get either of the Arabians this way because you can get the white Arabian, obviously, over by Lake Isabella, or you can get the uh Black Arabian in Sandini. No, or you can get it before, you can get it in chapter two. If you go outside of uh in Sandini, it's just like outside of the corner. Yeah, it's on the corner by like the um by like the farm, I think it is. By the gallows. It's across it's on the corner across from the gallows. Um there'll be like a couple fighting, or not fighting, the oh yeah, that one. There's a couple getting robbed on the corner right there. And you can save the couple and kill the person, and she like tells her husband how useless he is, and then the Arabians just standing like kind of down the sidewalk a little ways.

SPEAKER_00

I was thinking of the one um spawn point that's in between two of the houses in Saint Denis by like the farm that's outside. If you leave the town heading north, I haven't found it there.

SPEAKER_01

I found it there and I uh the gallows spot and I found it in roads before. Outside of the parlor house. So yeah, there's no point in getting either of the Arabians this way. Like you can if you want to, but it's as far as like if you're gonna take any of the horses, it makes more sense to get the Turquomon because that's the only other time you can get it until the epilogue. Plus, Turquomons are so good, way bigger than the Arabians. Arabians just spook at everything, and why are they so small? Oh my god. They're so small.

SPEAKER_00

Fucking Dutch on an Arabian. Like, why? Why do they have to make them so small? Same thing with the Morgans. Like, why are the Morgans so tiny? It's like they're not huge horses, but like they're bigger than that. Yeah, it's like I think the only reason why they made the Morgans so tiny is for the pure pure fact that in the epilogue, because of the mission that you do with the Jack, oh, because it's a pony. They could have they should have put ponies in this game, unpopular opinion.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and like the Morgans and like the Kentucky Saddlers, which are also called the American Saddlebrid, which is what I wrote. This is me being a horse girl going on a tangent. Like, from what I've read back then, like those were valuable horses to have. Those weren't like your everyday common horse that you could just pick up for five dollars or whatever it was back then. Those weren't the cheap horses, but like why are they like the lowest ranked horses in the game?

SPEAKER_00

And it's like they're the only fucking horses too that have like the good coat colors. Yeah. Like between the Morgan's Kentucky saddlers and Tennessee Walkers, like those coat colors are so good, especially the Kentucky saddlers.

SPEAKER_01

They really did those horses dirty.

SPEAKER_00

Getting back into the game. It's what for gold you want to kill the stable hand, showing you the horses, catch the uh stallion within 10 seconds and get five headshots. Yeah, one of the stallions gets loose and you have to catch it, so yeah. That's that's easy. Oh, should we talk about uh Clayton Clive? Oh yeah, yeah, we can talk about that.

SPEAKER_01

Um, I mean, really there's not I guess there's not a whole lot to say, but they are also in Red Dead online if you don't skip the tutorial. Yeah. Which is stupid because you can't even sell them your horse, so like why do we even get that cussing? Why do we even get that mission?

SPEAKER_00

Because it's like it was definitely meant to be like content where because they have the horse fence after you do this mission, you can go ahead and take any horse and sell it to them. But um, I think there's also like a glitch in one of the missions where you can just take a horse and just sell it to them over and over and over and over to get like a shit ton of money.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you you can earn more money selling horses to them than you do the stables, but like honestly, like you earn so much money, I think, in like chapter three and four, and then like there's all the different treasure locations, but it's just like not really even worth it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's like that's the one thing that kind of sucks is the amount of money you get in this game is kind of ridiculous, right?

SPEAKER_01

Like it's it makes a lot of things like that not really even worth it. Like you kind of lose the point in those things, and like then there's all the memes about like Dutch being like we need more money, and then Arthur sitting there with 30 grand in his pocket. Don't even get me started on that.

SPEAKER_00

I did the math. I literally I did the math for the time period and like what it would take everything for. I think it ended up I think it's around they could have done it after the Valent they could have just left after um the Valentine bank robbery and they would have been fine.

SPEAKER_01

But I mean I I feel like it's kind of on point with just how Dutch is. Oh, yeah. It seems like he has the potential to just leave and then doesn't so many times that I'm like I feel like that's just his character.

SPEAKER_02

He like he likes being on the control.

SPEAKER_01

He loves the control, he loves the excitement, the rush of being wanted, being chased by the law. So it's like, was he ever planning on actually leaving? I don't know. He's probably sitting in his tent being like, these fucking idiots thinking we're going to fucking Tahiti talking about mangoes.

SPEAKER_00

You know, it's so funny with the mango shit, because Dutch never like talks about it. Dutch isn't the one who ever talks about mango. No, Dutch never talks about the mangoes. It's Hosea that brings up the mangoes and bananas. That's yeah, because but Dutch really doesn't say it ever? Dutch, I he might say it like, but I don't think he does. Weird. I think he might say it like maybe once. Otherwise it's Hosea that's talking about like being mango farmers. Or banana farmers. Yeah, it's it's odd. But uh yeah, Clayton Clive, they don't really mean too much. They're just there. They're entertaining though. They're entertaining, yes. Everyone's pop. Everyone's pop. Yep. Alright, pop.

SPEAKER_01

Should we wrap this up? Probably should. We've already been recording for an hour and a half. We'll talk more about like the uh the side missions and side missions and stuff tomorrow, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Whenever we record again. Alright.
