The Next Baseline
The Next Baseline is a podcast about moving forward after disruption. Hosted by Danny DeJesus, the show explores transformational resilience, life transitions, personal growth, professional growth, leadership, and co-parenting through the lens of structure, clarity, intentional change, and a trauma-informed perspective. Using the C2R2E Framework, which stands for Collapse, Confrontation, Realignment, Reclamation, and Elevation, each episode is designed to help listeners think more clearly, strengthen their decision-making, and create a stronger baseline for the next stage of life.
This is not about empty motivation or quick fixes. It is about practical insight for people navigating change in real life. From personal growth and professional development to leadership, co-parenting strategy, and life transitions, The Next Baseline offers structured conversations that help listeners build clarity, direction, and a more grounded way forward.

Your Degree Didn’t Come With An AI Warranty
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
AI isn’t slowly arriving. We’re already living in a hybrid AI world where tools support decisions, speed up execution, and quietly rewrite what “stable work” means. If you’ve felt that background tension lately, the uncertainty, the frustration, even the urge to ignore it, we put clear words to it and map a better response.
We talk about why AI disruption is structural, not limited to one sector. When knowledge is digital, it can be processed, accelerated, and transformed, which is why education, medicine, law, defense, coaching, and content creation are all feeling pressure at once. At the same time, democratized AI tools are opening doors: individuals can prototype ideas, build content, and test projects with less money and fewer gatekeepers. The catch is that access no longer creates an advantage on its own. Differentiation comes from how we think, the judgment calls we make, and the clarity we bring to the work.
To make this practical, we use our C2R2E lens for transformational resilience: collapse, confrontation, realignment, reclamation, and elevation. We name the “collapse” signals, then move into confrontation with questions you can’t dodge: What skills do you have right now? What value do you bring today? Where are you replaceable? From there we realign, showing how to use AI well without outsourcing your brain, because human-in-the-loop judgment is becoming a career-defining skill. We also zoom out to a bigger future of work question: if AI keeps increasing output speed and efficiency, what should full-time work even mean?
We close with a short reflection exercise and an invitation to stay connected through real community, not just information. If this helps, subscribe, share the episode with a friend who’s navigating change, and leave a review so more people can find The Next Baseline.

Welcome To The Hybrid AI Era
SPEAKER_00Hello, everyone. Welcome to another episode of The Next Baseline. I am your host, Danny DeJesus. And for this episode, I want to talk about how we live in an ever-changing world. Specifically, now we live or we're coming into a world where there's a lot of hybridization between AI, and that has a lot of implications in terms of how it's disrupting, disrupting jobs, and then also how we're having to rethink work moving forward. And so where I want to start is talking about this idea and this thought that something has, in fact, changed. And I think a lot of people, most people, I think, actually feel it. And even if they cannot fully explain it just yet, because the fact is we're not just slowly moving into a new reality. In fact, we are already in this transitional, transformative stage in history when it comes down to AI. So this hybrid world where AI is part of how work gets done, part of how decisions are supported and made, and then also part of how businesses even operate. So we see a lot of mass layoffs even happening across the board, across tech companies, as more AI is becoming adopted. And so here's the fact of the matter is that is not the future. The future is here, it is right now, it is in the present. And this is what I believe needs to be said even more directly is that AI is disrupting everything. And so, from a jobs perspective, jobs that people went to school for, jobs that felt that once felt stable, jobs that felt like if you followed the right path, you would be okay. And the fact is those are no longer guaranteed in the same way that they had been in the past, you know, pre-2000s, maybe even early 2000s. And so, and the fact of the matter is that reality tends to be very, very uncomfortable. Because for a long time, the model was this, and I thought and I think the model is very simple. It was you went to school, you got a degree, you got a good job, you built stability for yourself and for the family that you're gonna have. And that model, when it comes down to it, is that model is shifting. Now it's not gone completely, but it is no longer as reliable as it used to be. And here's here's the honest truth: it doesn't stop there. AI, as we know it currently, right now, is disrupting industries across anywhere from education, the medical field, the legal field, defense, and then even beyond, even beyond that. It is also changing industries like coaching, cinema, so think Hollywood, book development or content development, blogging. And
Democratized Tools And Job Disruption
SPEAKER_00so all of these things, in fact, you you can look at it this way the average person, just you and me, can now use AI to bring their own stories to life. They can create films, they can shape books, and they can build content in ways that used to require a lot more money, more people, or even outside specialists just to get started. And here's the thing: the digital technology that is available today has become more and more democratized. So more people, which that means more people now have access to tools, platforms, and capabilities that were not available to them before. So things that once required extensive resources, teams, or even gatekeepers are now accessible to individuals who are willing to learn and use these skills. And that, when you put it all together, is what creates disruption. But it also creates access. And that is what makes this shift, the shift from what we used to know where you now put AI, this is what makes this shift so significant. Because this is not just one industry that's being affected. And in fact, this is what I consider to be a structural shift. Anything that can leverage the digital world, process information, or operate from knowledge that already exists in digital form is going to change or has been changing. It is currently being reworked, accelerated, and then also transformed. And that is why, in my opinion, people are feeling it in different ways. Some people you can go on social media and you can find all sorts of comments on this. But some people feel uncertain, they feel frustrated, some are even angry, and there's even some people trying to ignore it. But none of those responses are going to change the reality of where we're at, is that AI is here, and guess what? It is here to stay. So the question, the real question becomes what do you do with that?
Collapse And Confrontation With Reality
SPEAKER_00And this is where I look through it through the lens of the subject and the concept that we have developed here at Elevates, which is the concept of transformational resilience. Because this is a C2R2E moment. Collapse is already happening, it's happening everywhere. And it may not be in the most dramatic way for everyone, but in a very real way across multiple systems. Certain roles are starting to shrink, or certain roles are just starting to go away. Certain tasks are being automated, and certain expectations now are being rewritten. And that is that is the collapse moment that we're seeing. Now, step two in C2R2E is this aspect of confrontation. And this is where we have to get honest with ourselves. And it's not about what should be happening, but this is needs to be a conversation about what is actually happening. And some questions I have for you is in this moment of digital transformation that we're all experiencing, what skills do you actually have right now? What value do you bring right now? Where are you replaceable and where are you not? Because if you can't ask answer those questions honestly, then you cannot adapt to what's coming. You tend to wait. And waiting in a shifting environment usually is not going to work out very well.
Realignment And Standing Out With AI
SPEAKER_00So, with that, let's talk about realignment here. And this is where the opportunity starts starts to really show up because at the same time AI is disrupting. It is also lowering the barrier to entry. Things that used to take, as I mentioned before, teams can now be done with tools. Things that used to take months can now be tested within hours or even days, sometimes days. Things that require large budgets can now be started with far less overhead and capital. So for small businesses or budding businesses or ideas, you know, there's plenty of opportunity here. Because what AI has enabled us to do versus having 20 different decision points, it in reality, it's enabled us to be able to move faster, to build faster, and then also to test out ideas in a more efficient way. Um and this is where it also creates more competition. Because now that more people have access to the same capabilities, access no longer in of its own is an advantage is an advantage anymore as it used to be. So how you think, um, how you think now, more than ever, so that your cognitive ability, there's a lot of advantage to that. You know, how you apply that, that knowledge, what you have in in your mind, there's an advantage there. And how you differentiate yourself amongst everybody else, there's an advantage to that. And this is where I think people tend to misunderstand AI because they think it replaces thinking and and it really doesn't. We may think that, but it, but it doesn't. Um what I believe is it actually changes how thinking is applied, you know, because you still have to decide what matters, you still have to guide the process, and you still have to make judgment calls. So using AI well still requires a sense of clarity because it's still generative AI, large language models, still requires direction. Really, any any form of AI does. And then it still requires an intention, what it is that you want it to do. So this is not really necessarily about losing your role, it's really more defining defining our roles today. And
Reclamation And Building New Skills
SPEAKER_00then, you know, fourth step here that I want to switch to, um, you know, let's talk about reclamation real quick. And this is where we start to begin to take our personal agency back. And so you start, you, you stop, you know, if we're looking from you know, from this whole AI transition from the perspective of a C2R2E lens, reclamation is where we stop looking at the shift as something that is just happening, it's happening to us. Because really, it's it's really how how we choose to respond to this new environment that we're in. So, you know, a couple questions to ask here is what are we, you know, what new things are we learning? What new skills are we building? And you start to understand, you know, how to use the tools instead of actually avoiding them, because avoid avoidance is not going to help you move forward. In fact, I think any form of avoidance, I think, makes things uh worse. They don't necessarily make things better. And and the fact of the matter is in today's today's day, you know, day and age is you know uh simply avoiding is not realistic. And at this point, the only real way to fully escape what AI is actually changing would actually to go would be to go completely off the grid. And for the vast majority of people, that is probably not something that they're going to go simply just do. And so, and so if that is true, where you can't go off the grid, then avoidance is not going to be the answer. And the only answer, really forward, in my opinion, is that adapt uh adaptation is what's going to be key. And so that's going to mean learning how to think in this new environment, learning how to work in this new environment, and then learning how to stay grounded in this new
What Full-Time Work Means Now
SPEAKER_00environment. And that also brings up a bigger question. If technology continues to mature, and it will, if AI continues to increase output speed and efficiency, and it will, then maybe it is time to start also start challenging the structure of work itself. We I think we have to start asking the question, what does full-time work mean now? And we and so we've seen this question by some of the big tech uh tech personalities out there, you know, I think give gives some sort of answer, an idea of an answer to this question. What does what does the fate of full-time work now mean? What does it mean going forward? And so here's the thing. Does it mean the same schedules? Does it still mean the same nine, five, 40 hours a week, you know, for for you know a large, large number of us? Does it does it still mean the same output? And does it still mean the same relationship between time, labor, and value? Because if technology is changing how work gets done, then at some point, I believe we have to ask whether the structure of work should change with it. And that to me is a much bigger conversation, but is a but it is a necessary one because a shift is not only changing uh changing jobs, it may be changing the definition of work itself.
Elevation With Human Judgment
SPEAKER_00And then last but not least, on this whole spectrum of C2R2E is going to come elevation. And so this is where we begin to explore building a new standard, not based on how things used to be, but based on actually what works right now in the present. A standard where we understand how to use AI, a standard where we can bring human judgment into the process, so keeping the human in the loop. And then also a standard where we are not dependent on just one singular path, one job, or on one system. Because the fact of the matter is we have to become adapt adaptable, we have to become more aware, and then we also have to become more intentional. And I think that is what living in a hybrid world really entails. It is not an AI versus humans, it is AI with humans or humans with AI. It is efficiency with judgment, speed with responsibility, access with awareness, technology with intention. So instead of asking what is being taken away, I would encourage you to start asking what is being revealed today. Because this moment is showing people exactly where they need to grow. It's exposing us for the areas that we lack. And so this is
Reflection Exercise And Community Invitation
SPEAKER_00a reflection. So what I want to move towards now is giving you just a moment of reflection. So just follow me. So here's what I want you to do in this exercise. And I always love ending every podcast episode, any of my content, with an exercise. So here's what I have for you today. Where, you know, I'll I'll start with a question here. Where in your life or work are you relying on a system that may not be as stable as you think it is? Second question to that is and what is one skill you can start building right now that would make you more adaptable in this new environment? And just pick one, okay? Because that one move can actually start to change everything else for you. And remember, anything that we see, experience here, it all starts with a thought. So take some time, reflect, because that one thought can be the answer to the next step you're gonna have to take. So in closing, this is what I this is what I would like to leave you with. You know, if you're enjoying these conversations, because this is episode four, you know, um feel free to send me your your thoughts and opinions, okay? Because I want to hear from you. Because if you like more conversations like this around transformational resilience, life transitions, and then going back to what this podcast stands for is building your next baseline. I want you to stay connected. Because while AI may be disrupting jobs, industries, and then the way the way the work has historically been done, there's one thing AI cannot disrupt, and that is the need for human connection. Okay. Here's the thing: people still need community, they still need real conversations, they still need the unpolishedness of what it means to be human. They also still need places where we can think, reflect, and learn, and then grow with one another. And that is why I also built, built um uh uh in a community that expands the work of Elevatis. And that is this community I call Rise. Because if most people are not gonna go off the grid, because most people are not, um, and they're going to, you know, the fact is they're going to live in this new reality. And they're gonna need more than just information, they're going to need a place to start to adapt. And so, and I think, and I think what you know, we at El Botis have been able to put together, I think, Rise is an answer to a lot of this. And it's not just Rise, there's other on there's other digital communities out there, other real in-person communities out there. But from what we're doing here is the making a deliberate effort to not just produce content and share it and put it out there, but also to bring people, people of all backgrounds together. And so Rise is an online community built built around resilience, insight, strategy, and elevation. So if you're trying to figure out what your next move looks like, you know, I'm gonna encourage you to visit elvadascoach.com and then the links are going to be in the script in the description of this podcast episode. So with that, I hope I hope you've been able to learn something new. I hope that I've been able to give you something to think about. So until next time, I look forward to our next conversation on the next baseline.
