Mindful Moment Therapies Meditation

Stepping into May: Awakening Energy and Gentle Renewal

Join me for May’s meditation. I have recorded the meditation that accompanies this month’s newsletter. It is just fifteen minutes long, making it easy to use in the morning, in the evening, or during any quiet pause in your day to reset and refocus on the present moment.

This is a gentle meditation visualisation designed to support the natural transition as our bodies move out of spring and begin to settle into the early summer. With longer days emerging and brighter light around us, it offers a way to engage both somatically and mentally as we adjust to the season.

I do hope you enjoy it. Your feedback is always welcome, and I would love to hear how you find the practice. Please feel free to share any suggestions for future topics, particularly those connected to the therapeutic world.

Hello and welcome back to Mindful Moments Therapies podcast. And this week I'm going to be sharing another 10-minute meditation. Now, I don't know about you, but I can't believe that we are virtually at the end of April. And in a couple of days' time, we'll be heading into May and all the wonderful folklore that comes with May Day and the change and turn of the cycle of the season and what that means. And it's accompanied this year by a fabulous super full moon, which is going to really enhance passion and energy and really getting us into moving forward. So I thought let's do a lovely 10-minute meditation. Now, as always, there's a disclaimer on the front of this. So please don't listen to this while you're driving. Please don't listen to this if you're operating heavy machinery. And just ensure you're in a safe space where you can be private, where maybe you can just sit quietly, lay down, calmly. But in a space where you can be undisturbed and not interrupted. So maybe put this aside for when you've got a few minutes on your own in a space that you can feel comfortable within. So this meditation today is stepping into May and awakening the energy and gentle renewal. So take a moment now to settle, finding a comfortable position and allowing your body to be supported. And when you're ready, there's an invite to either lower your gaze or gently closing your eyes.

No need to change it.

SPEAKER_01

You're only observing observing the natural rhythm.

SPEAKER_00

The quiet movement.

And with each breath out on the exhale, allow yourself to arrive here in this moment. Now bring your awareness to the space around you. Even with your eyes closed, you may sense the light, the quality of the day, or just beyond it, the subtle shift of the season. We're standing at a threshold, the closing of April, and the gentle unfolding into May. Now imagine that you're outside in a peaceful open place. Perhaps a meadow, a garden space, or on the edge of a woodland, somewhere that feels natural and alive. Just notice the air. Carrying the quiet promise of longer days. Around you life is moving. Birds are busy. Some are still building nests, carefully weaving, gathering, preparing, others already tending to a new life, and some just beginning to fledge the tentative wings, the first flights. Everything is in motion, a quiet quickening, not rushed, but certain. And as you notice this, you may begin to sense that same rhythm within you a natural cycle of rest and renewal, of stillness and growth. This is the energy of this time, a moment of gentle ignition, often associated with the fires of Beltane, of our ancestors, a time of warmth, of light, and of life stirring more fully into expression. And rather than something external, this energy lives within you too, a quiet spark. Bring your awareness now to your heart space, or wherever you feel a sense of inner warmth, and just notice is there a flicker there? Something small, perhaps, a feeling, a memory, or a sense of something you once felt passionate about. Yet there is no need to force anything, just allowing gently becoming aware of anything that feels like a spark. Perhaps it is something you have set aside. Something life became busy around. Something that has lost its place. Not because it no longer mattered, but because attention moved elsewhere. And as you hold that awareness, imagine that the warmth of this season, the sunlight, the longer days, the movement of the light around your face and your body begin to gently reach that place within you, just like light touching something that has been resting. There is no pressure for it to burst into flame, no urgency, just a soft rekindling, a remembering. Now imagine that this small spark is being gently nourished by your breath. Within the inhale, there's a little more space.

SPEAKER_00

With each exhale, a little more ease. And as this happens, just notice what shifts.

SPEAKER_01

It may be subtle a softening, a lightness, a sense of possibility. Around you the natural world continues its rhythm.

SPEAKER_00

Birds moving, branches swaying, life unfolding, not questioning, not doubting, just simply following its cycle. And you are a part of this, not separate from it.

SPEAKER_01

Your energy, your timing, your renewal all unfolding in its own way. Now gently bring your awareness back to your body back to your breath, to the surface supporting you. Just take a moment to notice if anything feels different, even slightly. Perhaps there is a little more space, a little more warmth, a quiet sense of something beginning again. As you prepare to return, know that this spark is within you and does not need to be chased or forced. It will grow in its own time with gentle attention. Begin now to deepen your breath, taking longer breaths and lightening into the body, wiggling your fingers and your toes. And when you are ready, just slowly open your eyes, taking this feeling with you into your day. A softness of the season, and the quiet, steady renewal that's already happening within you. Just take a moment to orientate ground into the space that you're in. Just look to your left and your right, up and down, noticing what's around you, naming some objects either side. Let the energy come back into the physical form as you move and stretch. Just take a moment longer here before you decide to get up and carry on with your day. Thank you for joining me today in our change of the month and the seasons meditation. I really look forward to you joining me next time. Take care. Bye-bye.
