The episode also includes a soothing guided full moon meditation, helping you release what no longer feels aligned and reconnect with a sense of calm, clarity, and self-trust.

Whether you resonate with lunar cycles or simply need a moment to slow down, this episode invites you to step out of the noise of daily life and into a more mindful, connected way of being.

Hello and welcome to the Mindful Moments podcast. Today I'm going to be talking about something a little different, but something that can be deeply grounding and meaningful when we begin to understand it. And tomorrow we have a super full moon. So today's podcast is just in time for that, how it can influence how you feel, how you respond, and what you may notice within yourself. If you've ever found yourself feeling more emotional, more reflective, or even a little more unsettled around a full moon, or wondering why do I feel this when nothing's really changed? Then you're in the right place. I'm Fiona from Mindful Moment Therapies, and I'm a counsellor, clinical hypnotherapist, somatic therapist, and I also work with approaches such as EFT, IEMT, and Breathwork. I work creatively as well and work with children, adults, couples, and groups, both face-to-face in haven't and online across the UK. And this podcast is a space for you to begin understanding yourself, maybe in a different way, maybe in a gentler way, or a way that helps you reconnect, not just with your thoughts, but with your body, your emotions, and the natural rhythms around you. A super full moon happens when the moon is at its closest point to the earth, whilst also being full. So it appears brighter, larger, and energetically, many people experience it as more intense. Now, whether you view it scientifically, emotionally, or symbolically, what is important is the full moon has always been associated with illumination, bringing things into awareness, highlighting what may have been beneath the surface. And when we talk about a super full moon, we're often talking about that effect feeling stronger. So things you may have been pushing aside and avoiding, or not fully looking at, just might feel more noticeable. Around a super full moon, clients often describe feeling more emotional than usual, more sensitive, more reactive, or more aware of what isn't quite sitting right. You might notice overthinking more, replaying conversations, feeling unsettled without a clear reason, or even difficulty in sleeping. Sometimes that can feel confusing. Because you're probably sitting there thinking, well, nothing's really happened, nothing out of the ordinary has changed, so why do I feel like this? This is where it can be helpful to understand. You're not necessarily reacting to something external, you may be responding to something internal, and now has more space to be felt. For most of human history, people lived much closer in connection to natural cycles. The moon wasn't something separate, it was a part of daily life. It guided. It guided when to rest, when to gather, when to plant, when to reflect. And it was in many ways a calendar, a rhythm, a way of understanding time and energy. But over time we've moved away from that. Life has become more structured, more constant, more disconnected from those natural shifts. But something important remains. Our bodies, our nervous systems still respond to rhythm, to cycles, to change. Even if we're not consciously aware of it, there can be a part of us that still recognizes these shifts, that still responds, that still feels. And often there can be a quiet sense within us that longs to reconnect with it. The full moon in May is often called the flower moon. Traditionally, this is a time associated with growth, with blooming and a new life, and a time when nature is fully emerging. The colour, the energy, the expansion. And this also connects in with Mayday or Beltane, a seasonal point that marks fertility, creativity, connection, and the transition into a more outward, expressive time of year. Mayday or Beltame was traditionally celebrated as a time of fire, of energy, of movement, of life force, the very early beginnings of summer. A time of stepping forward, of expression, and of being seen. So when we bring this together with the super full moon, we're looking at a moment where things are illuminated, energy is heightened, and there is an invitation to reflect, reflecting on what is growing in your life, what is ready to expand, and what wants to be expressed. And also what may no longer align. You might notice a pull in different directions. Part of you wanting to move forward, another part feeling uncertain or hesitant. And these parts are really welcome in the therapy space. To bring these parts together, to have a conversation. You may feel more aware of what you want, but also more aware of what's not working. You may feel drawn to make changes, speak more honestly, just reconnecting with yourself. Or you might feel overwhelmed by it. And both are okay. Because awareness doesn't always feel comfortable. Sometimes it comes with emotion, with questions, with uncertainty. So rather than trying to use the full moon in a pressured way, it can be helpful to think about it as a moment to pause and notice. You might ask yourself, what feels more present for me right now? What am I becoming more aware of? What feels out of alignment? You don't need to act. You don't need to act on everything immediately or anything. Sometimes the most important step is simply noticing. So if it feels comfortable here, I'd like to invite you just to sit and pause with me as I guide you through a very gentle relaxation. So as always, just be in a place where you are safe, that is private, not driving or operating machinery. Just find a position where you feel supported, either sitting or lying, and allowing your body to soften slightly. Gently close your eyes if that feels okay, or soften your gaze. Take a slow breath in. And a gentle breath out. And again, breathing in and out. Just begin to notice your body. No need to change anything. Just noticing. And if it feels right, imagine yourself outside under the night sky. The air is calm. Space around you feels still. And above you you can see the full moon bright, steady present. Notice the light it gives. Soft but clear. Illuminating what is around you. Just gently ask yourself what feels illuminated for me right now? You don't need to force an answer. Just notice what comes. A thought a feeling a sense. And whatever arises just allow it to be there without judgment. Now gently imagine the light of the moon is softening around you. Not overwhelming, just gently present. And with that light, we may begin to release anything that feels heavy. Anything you've been holding on to that no longer feels aligned. You don't even need to name it fully. Just allow it to soften. And gently bring your attention to yourself again. Your body. Your breath. Quietly reminding yourself I am allowed to grow. I am allowed to change. I am allowed to move at my own pace. Just notice what you notice. Take another slow breath in and out. And when you're ready, gently bring yourself back into the space, grounding into the environment around you, having a look, bringing your senses back into the present and back into the moment. After something like that, you might notice a sense of calm or clarity, or even the smallest of shifts. Integration doesn't need to be complicated. It can just be as simple as noticing what came up, giving yourself space and allowing things to unfold gently. You don't even have to believe in the energy of the moon for this to be meaningful. What matters is the pause, the reflection, the awareness. Because often we just don't give ourselves that space, that permission. And this simply creates an opportunity to do so. If something in today's podcast has resonated with you, you're very welcome here. In future episodes, I'll continue to gently explore the rhythms, cycles, seasons, and phases of nature, helping you to understand them in a way that feels clearer, more supportive. I'll also be sharing practical tools that you can begin to use in your everyday life. So you're not just understanding what you've been through, but also learning how to move forward in a way that feels right for you. If you're ready to explore this more deeply, I work with clients one-to-one, face-to-face in heaven or online across the UK. You can find more information in the description or on my website. But for now, just take care of yourself, and I'll catch up with you soon in the next episode. So until next time, take things at your own pace. Allow yourself to reconnect in whatever way feels right for you. Take care.
