Well, stand and take us to the Lord in prayer. Sometimes you say that and then you can get up and preach a sermon. I'd like to discipline myself enough that if I say I'm going to take you to prayer, then I do take you to prayer. But happy Father's Day to everybody that's here. Still it's the same thing as it's still Happy Mother's Day because none of us would be here without a mother. And so I appreciate all the prayers and the concern for not only I, but the whole Connell family and all the mom's friends. She's at peace now. I have a much better understanding than what most people have. She's not gonna go running around in here. And I don't say that to hurt anybody, but if you kind of believe that, you haven't been listening. Because she wasn't a perfect woman. Somebody said, Well, how do you know that? I know she was my mother. She lived with me for almost four years. But this one thing I do know, that she had reached a point in God, that she was in the memory of God, and when God lets Sister Connell, my wife of 36 years, hear that choir, um it gave me a great comfort.

Now don't take me wrong. If you feel in your heart that people can do this and that after they're past, I'm not gonna take that uh false hope from you, but it is a false hope. And that's how Babylon gets. Okay, we're gonna go to the Lord in prayer. I promised. But we're thankful for everybody that's here today. Yes. I'd love everybody to get a good drink of water. How many of you want a drink of water?

You know, I'm not talking about the water in the bottles, I'm talking about the river of life. And it depends on you and I how much of the river of life comes into this building today. God dwells in the praises of his people, and you can praise God in the valley, you can praise God on the mountaintop. But if you only praise God on the mountaintop, you have a shallow understanding of what real praise is all about. Real praise is that you can praise God for everything, no matter where you're at in God. But, anyways, I wanted to thank everybody for your uh goodness and uh some of you give some offerings to help on that meal. We want to thank you for that and uh tell you how much we appreciate that. And then it was lovely to see my brother get up, and I thought he'd done a wonderful job with the bag of marbles and different things that he expressed about our mother, and he's been a brother to me that um I can honestly say that in all of our years together, I I raised him for a number of years. Um we traveled many times to ministers' meetings, and I remember one time uh down in in Little Rock, Arkansas, that a great blessing came into the assembly, and I looked over and looked at my brother, and I saw a golden fleece come down upon him. I expressed my feelings to him about that, and God really uh blessed my brother. I don't like, you know, to make things up just to make people feel good, that's a fallacy. That's a work of the flesh. And so uh I've always known that my brother had the Lord in his life and a calling in his life, and I can honestly say he's 60, what is Brad?

60, what is it? 63, and I'm 75, so there was 12 years difference between us. And I can say the only time that he ever got really mad at his brother is for shooting a fox squirrel out of the tree that he had watched for two hours. And just being ornary, but I shouldn't have done that. You know, I say I'm ornary, well, you're really saying I got a little bit of the devil, because ornriness comes from the devil. But, anyways, I appreciate the church today. Let's just all rise and ask God to be with us. I really believe that one of the things that when we come into the house of God or every day of our life, that we need to repent on a daily, on a daily, uh, every day. We need to go to the Lord and ask God to forgive us because we can be doing things in our life that's God's such a high God and an exalted God that we don't even know that we're trespassing against God, for his ways are so high above our ways. But if we go days and days without repenting, you certainly have some sin in your soul that needs to be delivered. That's right. That's why it's so important to repent on a daily basis. And then it's very important that you meditate upon the right things. And then it's very important that you read the Word of God, and then it's very important that you don't quench the spirit. These are important things.

And so you got a little message, anyways. But if God would lead, whatever God leads, I've got some things on my heart, but that doesn't mean that God can't say you hold them, there's something else more important today. So who's got a request today?

Yes. I appreciate Brother Michael. He's a worker, he's always there to labor. And uh he called me today and told me that he wasn't feeling well, that he's down in his back. And you know, that's a part of order. Part of order is that when you're not going to be in church and you got a legitimate reason, not an excuse, that you should let your pastor know because he's a shepherd that cares about the flock, and I might not never say a thing, but if you're not in church and I don't get a phone call while you're not in church, then you're just causing me suffering that I don't need to suffer with. So that's why that it's important to know that you got somebody over you in the Lord that's watching for your soul. Most people, if they're not careful, they'll have an attitude I can watch for my own soul. No, you can't.

You can't do that. If that would be the case, then I wouldn't be standing here today and there'd be no men called of God. Because God uses shepherds to watch over the sheep. Any other requests here today.

You can see God growing in the lives of each and every saint in this church. You know, the very idea that our sister would request a prayer lets you to know that she's a believer.

It's so easy to let the carnal mind tell you that everything's better out there. But the devil's been a liar since the beginning. Once he gets you over the fence, you find out that it ain't comfortable without God. That's right. Amen. And just one, just one thought and one action without thinking it through, just moving on some emotion or feeling, and it's a permanent decision that you made in a temporal situation, and you can wreck your life.

Praise the Lord. Anyone else? All right. Dear Lord, we thank you, dear God, this day. We pray, dear God, that your presence will be in this room with us, Lord. You're not looking at where we're at, what room we're in. You're looking at every heart here today, dear God. I'm not only here today, dear God, but I'm here to praise you. I'm here to lift you up, dear God. What a magnificent God, what a magnificent Son that you've given us. We appreciate you, Lord, on this Father's Day. There's never been a Father more greater than you. More loving, more caring, more sacrificing. What a God we have. And I can call Jesus my brother, and I can call God the Father, my Father. Hallelujah. Blessed be your name, Lord. We pray for every request today, dear God, this little baby. We pray, dear God, for Sister Michelle's aunt. We pray, dear God, that you'll move upon every need that's been mentioned here. In the great body of Christ, it's a mystery, Lord. It's a mystical body throughout the world, dear God. We know that you know where every member of your body's at today, Lord. I pray for those that's lost a loved one and my mother, that she'd comfort them in the days to come. She might be gone and absent in her presence, but she'll never be forgotten because of what she pressed into the pages of our minds, dear God. We love you. We appreciate you today, dear God. We invite you in to take the reins of this service today, Lord. Take the reins of this service, Lord. Nobody can lead a church service like you, Jesus. Nobody, Lord. We love and thank you for everything, and we appreciate you in the church. Amen, amen. Amen, amen. Well, today. Amen, Lord, son. How many of you know we're all human? Have you figured that out yet? Have you figured out that you're gonna stumble and fall? Anybody that tells you that when you start out serving God, that you're not gonna have no bad days is never serve God. And when you write a book about your life, your biography is going to have many pages that you wish you wouldn't have had to write. But really, in reality, nothing matters about that book of uh your your life, your uh biography, except the last page. Did you finish your course with love in your heart, and you've managed to get all the bitterness out of your life? Bitness is a number one killer of all God's children. Bitterness. The only antidote for bitterness is forgiveness. When you can't forgive somebody, and I've been there, and I've had to pray and pray and pray. I had a man one time just try to take my ministry away from me and judge me and condemn men. Tell me I'd have to be judged by others, and for a number of days I thought I was gonna die spiritually, but thank God he rescued me.

By a few phone calls that nobody even knew about, different things, God rescued me. I was in a little Pentecostal church one time and spent about two years there, and the woman was the pastor, which is out of order.

We can go into that, and if that offends you, it shouldn't offend you because it's the word of God. And as a matter of fact, how blessed are you women? You're blessed and don't even know you're blessed. You've got one thing to do. Follow and be obedient to the man of God that's over you if he's obedient to the one over him. God's such a God of order that he created the man different than the woman. The woman he created for Adam was a woman that has different emotions, different feelings, and altogether different in the way sometimes she looks at things. Without the help of a man in her life, she can get unbalanced. Without the help of a woman in a man's life, he can get unbalanced. So God took Adam and created him first, and then from Adam he took a rib from his side and created he a woman. W-O-M-A-N. We can make jokes and say every since then it was whoa man.

But in reality, there's no joking to it. God created the most precious thing for a man that he could ever create is a wife. And God knows whether you need a wife or you need a husband. But a lot of times people pray for a wife and a husband, and they're not fit for one. Let me say, what are you getting at, Brother Connell? We're closing out this dispensation of the church age. I want to be real careful here how about how I go about that. But at the same time, when God began to tell your pastor, I saw him for the very first time his face on a bench in a court session, in a courtroom. That's why the apostle Paul said, uh, follow me as I follow Christ. Considering my lifestyle and the anointing that's upon my life, the apostle Paul was warning the churches, keep your eyes upon me. In other words, imitate the one that's over you in the Lord. You have two elders in this church, but if those elders aren't subject to the one that planted them, they shouldn't be elders.

And then to have protection on me, I have men in this church that loves God. I have two elders, I have a deacon, I have an usher. And uh, you have appointed those offices under the umbrella that God gave to your pastor.

God's a God of order, folks.

You take a home that don't have order, and um, and this is whatever I say, just remember I'm preaching the ideal. The ideal is what we always have to go over uh go for. But no matter how bad a home is, no matter how out of order a home is, no matter how order how much we're out of order with God, just remember one thing: God never gives up his love, and he's the author that can fix it all. He can fix every bit of it. But when I was talking about the woman and the man, uh, you know, a woman's got that nurturing spirit, and that's what God gave her. I don't maybe maybe I'm speaking a little out of turn here, but I don't think that a man, that no matter how much he loves his children, will still have the same identical spirit of love that a mother has. I don't think it's possible.

That's the way God created it. Sure. God created that way. But you know, just as um God gave that wonderful woman, Eve, to Adam, and took that rib out of his side, it just means that some men, they're so dominating, they're so overbearing, they pull the scriptures out on their wives, sure to be obedient to me, as Sarah was to Abraham, calling him Lord. Do you know how much you're in the flesh to do that to your wife?

And let me say this: as I get older in the Lord and God begins to open my mind up to new things, I realize that religion has nothing to do with being spiritual.

None. That's right. You can come in here and talk, you can gather yourself around the saints, and you've got enough knowledge to impress people. You can shed tears, but you can still be as natural-minded, non-spiritual as a frog.

To be spiritual-minded takes a lot of carving, takes a whole lot of hammering. Everything that was in the holy place, nothing in the courts was made out of gold, and we know that God's given us because of our little finite three and a half pounds of gray matter, and get on a telescope and look into space, or just walk outside on a dark night and look into the sky, and my God, is he too great for us to understand.

Amen. Look at the oceans, five of them, all different kinds of material in them, but all five are held into pay into those basins by. Mighty God.

He causes this earth to spin on axes, keeps the oceans in their basins. He knows the stars by their name. He knows the universe. He's omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent. Right here today, your mind is being discerned.

When God's presence is in a room, he's looking at every thought. Every intention of your heart. He knows why you're here. He knows when you're not here. And he knows the reasons why you're here and the reasons why you're not here. So many people want to go to heaven, but they don't want to put the kingdom first.

They want to put pleasure first, money second. Oh no, let's put money first. Because you can't have much pleasure unless you got a lot of money.

It's real simple, folks. Lots of times people save scrimp, even save their coke cans and bottle caps and everything. And it's not for the kingdom, it's to go have pleasure. There's nothing wrong in having a good time. Nothing wrong in having pleasure if the pleasure isn't ungodly. Right.

And when you put things before the kingdom of God, which is the church, the kingdom of God can be seen. It's every child of God that's given their life to the Lord and got a hope that for the hereafter. But when you put everything in front of that, you're doing the kingdom a bad deed. And every one of us in this church is needed. Every one of us deserves vacations and go fishing, go play basketball, this or that. But anything that you put in front of God, you've got an idol in your life. You've got an idol in your life. Idolatry isn't just something that you put a statue in your backyard and pray to it every day, which is absolutely absurd. Millions and millions do it. Oh yeah. Millions and millions put these little things on their on their uh dashboard or hanging around their uh mirror and it's for safety and it's for this, it's for that. Guess what? I don't care if you carry 10,000 little doodads and trinkets. If you don't have a contact with God, them stupid little ornaments ain't gonna get it fixed for you.

So through idol worship. It's idol, yeah. But idols can be more than just little doodads or statues. Do you know the Bible says that we can't sit down at the table of devils and at the table of God at the same time?

I know that my brethren do the best they can over there when I'm saying things. But some of the times that when was in the garage that would re-that people would just remark about and they would say, My Lord, every time he'd say something, Brother Michael Mathis at that time was in charge of the board. I think Brother Matt helped him some. And then now we got Brother Alex. Do you think it's a coincidence that Alex has got this microphone set up here and he went to college for all of that?

Come on. God's preparing something for this little church, right? And this little church is gonna be a light on a st on a candlestick. And when God begins to bring them in, not everybody's gonna be equipped to take care of them because not everybody is growing properly in this church. When you got aught in this church, and you've got bitterness in this church, and it keeps coming up over and over and over, you haven't learned to forgive properly. And you can stunt the growth of a church. You know what bitterness is like? It's like a bad virus. That when you get around people that's bitter, it just comes oozing out of them, and they can't help themselves from letting this little ungodly, unruly, most powerful thing on the whole planet that lives in a little cave behind this little picket fence, your tongue. The tongue is a wicked thing, and the only thing that will that will tame our wicked tongues is God. The devil don't know how to tame the tongue. The devil's in charge of your tongue until God moves in. That's right. And so the tongue can be a deadly wound, it can be a sword, it can be a hammer, it can be a maul, the Bible says. But it also can be a healing balm, sweet, precious things, saying to God's people. Asking God to let go of things in their lives. If you think that any of us has never suffered with bitterness, I'd like to know your spiritual diet.

Because we've all been hurt in ways. Sometimes it's 40 years ago. And it's still right there in the presence of all of God's people that you're chock full of bitterness.

The only way we can get rid of bitterness is through forgiveness.

And then if you're a bitter individual, I'll give you a little story. I had a man that I loved dearly. He had two daughters. I had to correct him one time. Uh, and it was needed. I could not let it go. It had to be corrected. Evidently, he got a root of bitterness and never got over it. And so every time his two daughters would get in the back seat after being in a church service and me standing at my feet, he would tell them, Don't believe a thing that he said. You know what done that? Bitterness. If my son or that son's got bitterness in their heart, honest to God, you'll poison your children, your wife, and everybody else.

You'll poison them. And somebody that's got a ton of bitterness in their life and don't want rid of it, they'll just continue causing issue after issue.

But that's the way the church is designed. Do you know? And I'm not going to be here forever, but I might be here a while. Do you know that without a true called man of God, you're just wandering around and hoping that you're going to make it?

You know what a shepherd is? A shepherd is one that can take some stripes from the sheep. A shepherd is one that stands above the flock. A good shepherd will lead his sheep into pasture grounds, and then if the grounds is good enough and they know they're going to be there a while, he'll actually work hard to put some thorn bushes around where they're grazing so that the wolves don't get in. Do you know that there's always going to be wolves in the house of God?

Do you know that you can get such a spirit against your brother or your sister that you can begin to build a clique? Oh, yes. You know what happened in the early reign church? One of the greatest apostles that ever stepped on this earth was the apostle Paul. If it wasn't for the apostle Paul, three-quarters of the New Testament would not be here for us. But he was teaching and preaching in them churches before the book was ever written. So therefore, because of all the problems, and brother, them early reign church had some problems. In the third chapter of 1 Corinthians, yeah, look, I appreciate that. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of devils. You cannot be partakers of the Lord's table and the table of devils. I don't want to get off track here, but I just want to explain that a little bit to you. Ronnie, you're a very sensible young man. Jason, everybody in here is pretty sensible, right? Would you sit down at a table with some pointed ears and a long nose and teeth that was sharp like vampires and they was all crunched up and they looked little devils. Give me a break. You know why God's people are so confused? Because a majority of the men that's teaching and preaching out there in the religious system are as dumb as a rock when it comes to the things of God. Pardon me, that's bold, but it's a God's truth. They dive into things that they don't have any clue about. That's right. You know what an evangelist should never do? Dive into the book of Revelation.

You know what a pastor should do? He should be willing to open his mouth and let the apostle feed him.

And after he's fed, then that shepherd can feed the rest of those that he's over in the Lord. There's a big problem in our society today, and Jesus said it real quick, and he said it real real profound. In this world, men exercise authority over each other. They'll climb, they'll cheat, they'll steal, they'll tell lies, all for a position that when it's all said and done, you're dead. When you're dead, you get six feet under and nothing else.

We're after eternal life. What greater prize can we get asked for than eternal life?

But eternal life don't come just because you claim it and name it. Name it and claim it. Brother, God has to put you through the fire. God has to thoroughly test you. God's got to find out what you'll do in your walk with God. The baptism of the fire is a purification. You reject it, you're never gonna go nowhere with God.

I'm not mad. I'm excited. You know why? Because this little church is getting more truth than you could get going to church out and babbling for five years, and I've given you more truth than they've got to give you in five years.

Them devils that the apostle was saying don't sit down with, is he was talking about idols. The Gentile people, they worshiped everything. A green tree, let's bow. Every little thing that they could make into a god, they made it into a god. The Egyptians had three hundred gods. Their two main gods was the sun and the moon. But they had many other gods. How many gods do we have?

Did you ever ask yourself how many gods you got? Somebody say, well, how do I know that I got a God in my life? Anything that takes God's place is an idol and a devil to you.

But you know what? It's time to quit fooling around. It really is. It's time to ask God to make each and every member of the Gospel Truth Assembly transparent. Transparent. You ever take your car into the shop and it's acting up, it won't hardly run, and you pull it into the door and there's a mechanic and it starts running right. You might as well turn around and go back home. Because without it acting up, the best of mechanics can't find the problem. That's right. You know what? God makes us act up. Listen to me. God can make you act up for the whole purpose of saving your soul.

Bringing something to the surface that you never even dreamt was there. And all of a sudden, the love of God, because he wants your soul saved, he brings it to the surface. That's true. Then he just doesn't bring it to the surface. He inoculates you and gives you the strength to begin to chip away at it. You might fight the same giant a hundred times, but the moment you quit fighting, it becomes your God and rule over you.

There's so many scriptures about the tongue in the Bible. We could go on and on and on. I think the illustration of this being the worst beast on the planet earth is enough. It lives in the little cave behind these little picket fence. When you can't control your tongue, the apostle James said, you're not going to control anything. And then you know this repentant thing. If I cross you, Brother Jess, and my spirit gets bad, and I say, Would you forgive me? But I was just having a bad, you know what, you didn't repent. I want you to hear this. If I give my wife a hard time and I wake up in a bad mood, she has to walk around on eggshells, and then finally, you know, I look at her and say, Sister Connell, would you forgive me? But it's over the death of my grandma, my mother. It's all a prayer. You know what you've just done. You voided your repentance. You know why? Because you did not recognize that it was just my bad spirit, and I can't blame it on mom's death or nobody else. I had a bad spirit. Yes. That's being transparent. Yes. You know when you fail in the grace of God is when you fail to recognize you need forgiveness as much as the one that trespasses against you. You have failed in your grace with God. Do you get that? Looking diligently, lest any man fail in the grace of God. The grace of God is what? Forgiveness? It's forgiveness.

But if I lose sight of what he's done for me, I become a judge, jury, and executioner.

But I asked her, I went back there, and she went to the back, and I asked her, I said kind of like overfoot. Yeah. And uh said, yeah. Uh reluctantly. She said, Are you sure you're gonna it's okay, you know? I said, yeah. Right. Anyway, I did. I ended up holding the baby for a while, but here she's killed back from behind me. Used to uh brag about how I used to make the children have their first laugh. But uh but after service and everything else, and later on that day it started coming to me, I uh did I do the right thing to do that, you know? I'm talking about transparency. And uh anyway, that night later on I decided maybe I should call Alex and talk to him about everything. And uh one didn't know that didn't get the wrong feelings about anything. Sure, brother.
