Blonde Baddies
Blonde Baddies isn’t about hair color—it’s a mindset. A Blonde Baddie is anyone who stands for female empowerment, equality, and uplifting marginalized communities. We’re about building each other up, calling out hypocrisy when we see it, and loving fiercely while embracing every identity and every story.
This is a space for women (and allies) who believe in kindness, inclusivity, intelligence, and strength. Our community—our Baddies, our BB’s—is rooted in support, honesty, and growth. We’re here to create real conversations, real connections, and real change.
Hosted by founder Joy Aukema, the oldest of six girls, whose life journey is anything but ordinary. Adopted at just two months old and raised in a traditional Catholic household by a pediatric nurse mom and engineer dad, Joy grew up surrounded by strong female energy and 80’s-era icons who helped shape her voice and vision.
After navigating love, heartbreak, and a 17-year marriage, Joy is now raising two incredible sons—Brady, a sports-loving high school senior with a passion for football, and Griffin, a creative, outdoorsy spirit who thrives on farming, fishing, and building something out of nothing.
Life hasn’t been without its challenges, but through it all, Joy believes deeply that there is purpose in every twist and turn—and that the story isn’t over yet.
On Blonde Baddies, we dive into the tough topics—current events, social media, relationships, and pop culture—with honesty, humor, and heart. We’ll laugh, we’ll cry, and we’ll grow together, because life is meant to be lived fully—and happiness starts from within.
Join the journey. Learn, reflect, and evolve with us. And don’t forget—this community is yours too. Tell us what you want to talk about, BB’s.
Because being a Blonde Baddie means being more than what people see.
It means being powerful, compassionate… and unapologetically real.

Okay. Take one. Good morning. How is everybody? Does anybody else's life look like mine and putting my pills in my my thing? Okay, so I said I would start the podcast, and I'm definitely going to. I just need a little bit of input about the title. So I was gonna name my podcast Blonde Baddies, and I wanted to do that because there's so many baddies out there that I've been meeting lately. And you might say, Well, what was a baddie? I think the definition of a baddie is just somebody who gets her shit done. Like she kills it, she's slaying every day. So that that could be in any regard, right? Like our police officers and our female police officers, baddies. Our female teachers, baddies. Oh shit, I put two in there. Okay, you're done with that one. See, this is the I gotta focus. Okay, baddies, where was I? Yeah, just anybody that's killing it in their domain, you're a baddie, right? And and baddie can be situational too. Like if you just like nail a shot on the pickleball court, your girlfriend might be like, Baddie. Okay, so blonde baddies, you don't have to be blonde. Blonde baddie, my girlfriend Chappelle at work, baddie. She's blonde baddie. She doesn't have blonde hair, she's black, but she's fucking awesome. She's killing it every single day. She's got six kids, and they range in ages from like 15 to 20 months, 20, 24 months. I don't know. I don't know how old our littlest, but oh my god, what a friggin' trip this kid is. Anyways, that's a baddie, right? Because she's killing it every day. Somebody that survived major trauma, like terrible things that have happened, or I mean terrible life circumstances, or what have you. Baddie. Alright. So, anyways, I was gonna call Bond baddies. And then the other day I had this epiphany kind of about what I'm all about. And I I like to say that I'm unapologetically authentic, right? Because I I tell the truth. I'm a truth teller, and sometimes it gets me in trouble, and a lot of but it always comes from a good place, and so I try to live my life as authentically as possible because I have found that when you lie or mislead somebody, you do way more damage, and it's so much harder to overcome. So, why would you lie, right? Just keep it real, keep it authentic, and let's not overthink this, just do the right thing. Alright, let me think of my next topic I need to discuss here because I I'm I didn't write this down, obviously. This is very ad-lipped, and I don't really know why I'm whispering, except for that I'm on the golf course here in Lakewood National. This is where I spend a lot of time. And oh, don't mind my get up here, it's super ratchet. And so then I came up with shamelessly self-aware because I think that's another term that it would describe me. I oh, these guys are pulling up here. Oh my god. I gotta show you.
unknownLet me get them in there.
SPEAKER_01Let me see if I can zoom in. Well, I can't really zoom in, but look at that that's a foursome of ladies, baddies, baddies. Alright. Well, that was a good example. They're out on the golf course early this morning. It's a Thursday at Lakewood National. It might be Women's Lake League Day. I'll have to ask Chip, but anyway, so there they go. Bye, up girls. This is what I do. I come out here in the early mornings when nobody's up. I have my littlest here with me this week. That's my 14-year-old Griffin. I brought him with me because I have uh great travel benefits through my part-time job, which I really, really enjoy. I work with some really awesome people. And so, anyways, we are taking advantage of that while we have it. And oh, those ladies just land. They probably knew I was recording them. Anyways, you're welcome, you're famous. So I have Griffin here with me, and next week we're going to I'm doing some per diem work for a commercial developer who's got a big project going on in Tennessee and in Alabama, and so I've been spending some time in those two states too, which are fascinating. I love visiting a new place and learning about the history of the place and just all the things that went on, so it's been really cool. And so, yeah, I think I'm gonna get Griffin down there next weekend, two weekends from now, which is Mother's Day weekend, right? We have a weekend in between, yeah. And so I'm gonna get Griffin down there because there's a Mother's Day event at the farm, and the farm is called City Bell Farms, and it's in Cortland, Alabama. You may have seen some of my posts on there, but this is gonna be a big uh project. The scope is gonna be for like a minute, so I'm gonna be spending some time out there shooting their content.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so I'm just finishing up the rest of this podcast because when I was originally doing it, somehow the editing it was like overlapping, and there was words underneath the words I was saying. So I'm just re-editing it and I had to take it down for a moment, but now it's back up and running. What I did want to say is that I was trying to come up with a name for the podcast. Should it be called Blonde Baddies, which I already explained in the previous part of this podcast, what a blonde baddie is, or should it be called shamelessly self-aware, or should it be called unapologetically authentic? So you let me know. Remember, it's gotta kind of roll off the top, you know? So all of that plus more coming up, and I have an announcement to make that I'm gonna make later on today when I can take an appropriate video. And it's a time to explain. Okay, so stay tuned, like and follow.
