What’s the SS88 plan?

SPEAKER_01

What what hello? Hello. What are you doing? Hello? What? What are you doing? What? Oh, I'm at work. I'm sitting in my car actually. You sound you sound so um awake. I am. I'm really awake. I got up early. I did a lot of I did some tiling, some mosaic tile on a 14-foot ladder. I was on a 14-foot A-frame ladder, which is a little, it's a little sketchy when you're up there trying to butter up those tiles and get them right, get them set right in the right place. It's it's I don't love it. But in the next, I don't know, couple months, I'll be done and on the ladder, and then I won't have to do that ladder work anymore. So I'm excited about that. That's nice. But you know, it's a beautiful day in paradise, man. That's a beautiful day in paradise. How about you? What's happening with you, man? Are you tired of podcasting yet?

SPEAKER_00

Well, I'm we're not podcasting yet.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, right. We're just hanging out. Are you tired of calling me and hanging out every day?

SPEAKER_00

No, that's that's that's why I do it. It's the best, isn't it? It's the best. So let's get down to business. Let's get down to business. Brass tax, baby, brass tax. We don't talk about anything. Oh. Right. Oh, but what's wrong with that? I but we can talk about things. And and oh we can make this eight minutes like helpful to people, even though the only people I care about that listen are our wives and our kids.

SPEAKER_01

Like that's my wife doesn't and my kids do not listen. Yeah, what's we gotta change?

SPEAKER_00

But we care about your wife and your kids. But we get no, we gotta change that. When your wife and your kids listen to this, then we've won.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I know. My uh yeah, okay. So we need to talk about our wife and our kids, like how much we love our wife and our kids, and then they'll be, and then that's and that's what we should talk about. Like, it isn't Ava the best. I love Sadie, you know. Sadie is so cool, and Ava is so cool.

SPEAKER_00

We don't have to do that. That's so let me give you the example of the kind of thing. Oh, okay. Okay, here's the kind of thing that we're gonna incorporate what we talk about to our family, and also maybe advice for others who are also listening, going, Oh, you know, that's that's that's good insight. So here's here's here's one. I'm starting off.

SPEAKER_01

So when so when we okay, tell me one. Go ahead. Because so what you're saying is let me just get this straight. Let me get this straight. When we launch our podcast, when we decide to launch SS88 for real, for real, right? We want it to be an advice podcast for parents of um um of grown children.

SPEAKER_00

No, I we want it to be inspirational in what we're doing.

SPEAKER_01

Inspirational. We're we're launching an inspirational podcast.

SPEAKER_00

I guess so.

SPEAKER_01

At some point.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, so what do you got for me today? What do you got? It's an inspirational podcast about us talking about nothing, but we wanted to talk about stuff. Okay, so let's start with Love Island. What's the update?

SPEAKER_01

Dude, Love Island it does not come out on Wednesday nights or Saturday nights. Okay, and so there's no update except that I promised myself I wasn't gonna watch it anymore. And then last night I was tired, I didn't want to go to the studio. I went up there and I turned it on and I realized oh, it's not on on Wednesday nights, and I was like, and I was glad because I'm not gonna watch it anymore. And what I wanted to do, let me just tell you this: what I want to do is find a source for somebody who gives like a five-minute recap every day. It could be audio. What's a five-minute recap of what happened? 10 minutes of recap of what happened, and I could not find that. There's people who talk about it for in ad nauseum, but there's nobody that just gives you a recap, which made me think maybe I should watch it just so that I can be the place that gives the recap for the people like me who don't want to watch it, but they want to be able to talk to their children about it. Right. Or but or the yeah, so anyway, I I agree with all of that. It's a zeitgeist, you know, it's a zeitgeist. I don't even know what that means. I don't know what that word means, but I think it's a zeitgeist, a cultural zeitgeist. This this show. But it sounds good, it's a good word.

SPEAKER_00

It's better than verbally. I like that word. That I like words that sound smart, but I don't know them. But let's get back to the point here, because we we never get to the point. Okay, so let's do it. Okay, so the point is the re which I find interesting and also maybe um inspirational and sweet, which is the reason tell me the reason. Wait, now you're telling me the reason. Now I gotta tell you the reason. Yeah, no, you tell me the reason you started watching Love Island.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, because my daughter was really into it, and she wanted she was we were going on vacation for a week together, and she wanted to watch it every night, and she was really into it, so she asked me to catch up so we could watch it together.

SPEAKER_00

See, that see, now that's inspirational. You're watching something that you wouldn't watch, but you're watching it. It's trash, dude. It's utter trash. You're watching it to connect with your daughter, and I think that's very sweet.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

So there you go. It's just something simple like that.

SPEAKER_01

That's all we had to do.

SPEAKER_00

That's all we had to do all this time is just come up with another watch Love Island for I just want to point out, I just wanted to point out something that I think is a very sweet thing to do with your kid, which is you're gonna sit down and suffer um, you know, half-naked humans to uh humping and and slaughtering on each other. A lot of humping and slaughtering. Whatever it takes, though, you know. Now, do you do you do you um talk to Kata about it?

SPEAKER_01

Well, we did. We did when we were at on we when we were on our vacation, and now I mean I'll text her, and she I mean, it's like there's not really a lot of conversation about it. It's very conversation about it is is is not enough to make me keep watching it. Right. Really, because now she's kind of she's back home, she's in her own world, she's hanging out with her best friend and her boyfriend, and like I she's like I'm not like high on the priority list to like talk about Love Island with. But when we're on vacation, you know, you're stuck with each other. Right. She's she's I mean, she's one of those grown kids who's you know, it's she loves me, but she's not, you know, I'm not like on top of her priority list. Right. Right. Okay, well, tell me tell me something else, though. Like I like the fact that I found out on Spotify you can comment on the podcast, and so there was one person who commented every day and and or on every episode except for the first or one of them, which somebody else commented. Like people were now. But what I want to say is so I love that we they can comment on Spotify, that's cool. But I think when you rate a podcast on Spotify, you can just leave a stars, right? But I think on Apple, if you rate it, you can leave a review, like a rating and review. And we don't have any ratings and reviews. And I know we're not a real podcast yet, but it would be certainly nice if somebody rated and reviewed the the pre-podcast planning party.

SPEAKER_00

And how they rate it. And and does this does does you know starting a podcast make me cooler? Like, am I a cooler person? Yes.

SPEAKER_01

I can say yes, but you need to start wrapping it up. We need to start wrapping it up. It's time to wrap up. And you you can it's your turn to wrap start the wrap up. You did? Yeah. Oh, so it's my turn? Yep. Okay, well, I'm glad that people are listening.
