Okay, introduce me.
SPEAKER_02Introduce you?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Uh hi, Steve. This is Steve, my friend Steve. And my other friend, Steve.
SPEAKER_01I'm Steve here in Naples, Florida.
SPEAKER_00And and how do you know how do you know this, Steve?
SPEAKER_01I I think I started, I think I met you at Leonardo Pizza, right? Yeah. I uh I had just turned 21 and you showed up there and saw the way I was making pizza, and you said, no, no, I'm gonna show you how to make pizza. You had just started, and uh right then and there you showed me how to throw a pizza, and it's been uh an uphill path ever since. And we have been close friends since the day I turned 21. I'm 54 now.
SPEAKER_00And so who makes who makes better pizza?
SPEAKER_01Uh who makes better pizza? Well, that's that's debatable. His his pizza is uh amazing, but you know.
SPEAKER_02But but Steve makes really good pizza too.
SPEAKER_01He he he he he taught a guy how to make pizza as good as his, but different different was.
SPEAKER_02So here's the deal. I think when I came, so I had gone off to I had I had left, I had gone off to work at this camp in North Carolina. I was gonna I was gonna be like a uh I was just gonna work at the camp. I don't remember what all I had to do, but wasn't a counselor per se. I was just a guy working at the camp. My buddy was going with me, what?
SPEAKER_01Was that awkward? You you didn't have a job, but you were working at the camp.
SPEAKER_02No, I had a job. I just don't remember what the job was. But one of my one of my jobs I remember was inspecting the girls' cabins, and I had to pick which was the cleanest. But but when I got, but when we were on the way, my buddy Alan and I were on the way to the camp. We said, hey, we're going to the camp. We don't know anybody, we're gonna be there for a month. Let's make up names, let's make up identities. So I said, I'll be Satchel. And he's like, gonna be Jethro. I said, All right, you gotta stick to it, Alan. When you get there, or whatever they say, you say that's your name. He's like, got it. We get there, they say, Hey, man, what's your name? He says, Alan. So I give him this look, you know, like, come on, you didn't even last with the first person. And then I said, My name's Satchel. He said, Is that your real name? I said, Yeah, that's my real name. So it worked the whole time. And then when I'm cleaning, I had to inspect the cabins. Well, the girls all wanted to win the cabin. So if the whole cabin of girls, they're all high school girls are gone by, I was probably 20, and they'd see me and they'd say, Hey, Satchel, because they wanted me to, you know, wanted me to vote their cabin the best. And after the camp, I went to work in Atlanta, and the guy got me a job at a pizza place there, and he only knew me as satchel, so he introduced me as satchel. So now I'm satcheled when I'm living in Atlanta. So I come back to Gainesville after Atlanta, and I'm going to get a job at Leonardo's. And I walk in, they said, What's your name? I said, Steve. They're like, Oh, there's a couple Steves already. Well, there's you, I think you were one of the Steves, and the other Steve was the owner. Steve. Yeah, yeah. Steve Solomon, the owner. And so since there were two Steves already, I said, just call me Satchel. Because I was going in to be Steve again, but because of you, I had to be Satchel.
SPEAKER_01Well, you know, it's funny because because of you, my closest friends call me Steve, and my family calls me Steven. So this whole Steve thing is is gotten really out of hand. And I think we've had false identities for the last 35 years.
SPEAKER_02Well, Steve Beatty over there thinks that there's a right and wrong way to spell Steve.
SPEAKER_00Well, first of all, first of all, what's the your name is still Steve, whether it's pronounced or whether it's your full name is Steven or Steve. That doesn't your name isn't changed. It's just Robert.
SPEAKER_01So I can just flat out changed his name.
SPEAKER_00Robert or Rob. The real question is what's the proper way to spell Steve as Stephen? And it's with a V- Well there's only one way to spell Steve. Exactly. You're a V Steven.
SPEAKER_02No, no, no, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_00You're a V Steve.
SPEAKER_02I just looked this up on the internet. On the Google. I said, what's the proper way to spell Stephen with a PH or V? It says both Stephen, PH, and Stephen, V, are correct and widely accepted spellings of the same name. Stephen with a PH is the traditional spelling closer to the ancient Greek root Stephanos.
SPEAKER_01Well, Stephen with a V is a more modern phonetic interpretation. California Steve, how do you spell your name?
SPEAKER_00With a V, of course. Of course.
SPEAKER_01There's only one way to spell Steve. That's why he changed his name to the case. It's not the only way. Stephen with a V is proper.
SPEAKER_02Well, who wants to write it with a letter for no reason? That's not right. Stephen with a PH is the or is from the original Greek Stephanos.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_02Stephen with a V is a more modern version.
SPEAKER_00I'll accept that you're old and that we're modern and cool. It's not it wasn't about like necessarily right or wrong. It's like kind of like the the the um cool way to, you know, like the cool way to spell it is with a V. Like the like PH, it that's too old.
SPEAKER_02It's sophisticated. It's sophisticated. It's too old pH.
SPEAKER_01Why would you want to add another letter? That's just extra words.
SPEAKER_02The only thing I'll concede is that it's a little bit weird that Steve with a V is short for Steven with a PH. That is a little weird.
SPEAKER_00No, that that's totally. Yeah, you're trying to like play both sides of the of the court here.
SPEAKER_02Um listen, I think when your name is Steve, I think Steve is the coolest name ever invented. I think Steve is like the coolest.
SPEAKER_00Here's what I will say.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's it is a good name.
SPEAKER_00Here's what I will say about your your name is if you said your name is Stefan and you owned it, I'd have less judgment. But you're you're a Stefan, but you're trying to be a Stephen with a Steve with a V.
SPEAKER_01That's just not how it's pronounced. That's a lazy way to say Stefan. It's Steve.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_01But you're not lazy by any means.
SPEAKER_02But what I was trying to get at is that the name that we've all been called our whole lives, Steve or Stephen, makes us really cool.
SPEAKER_00Oh, hang on. Hang on. Go ahead. It makes us what? I I had a I had a I had a timer on.
SPEAKER_02And did we run out of time?
SPEAKER_00No. We're rolling.
SPEAKER_02Oh.
unknownOh, well.
SPEAKER_00So what you were you you were going on some you you were ready to rock your your statement there, and I had to cut you off. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_02Well, I just yeah, I think that I just I just think that with that, I've always been friends with Steve's. I've always been friends with Steve's because Steve's are the coolest people.
SPEAKER_00Yep, and Stephens.
unknownI don't care how they spell it.
SPEAKER_02I'm not picky like that, like you guys. You guys spell it wrong, but that's okay.
SPEAKER_00Stefans are cool too.
SPEAKER_01You know, we our name is so spelled so right. We didn't change our name. You changed it to Satchel. Where does Satchel come from?
SPEAKER_02I mean, the oldest. I was trying to think if there was any name cooler than Steve. And that's all I could come up with.
SPEAKER_01You nailed it. You nailed it, buddy because that name flows way better than Steve's.
SPEAKER_00All right, we gotta wrap it up. Here we go, wrapping it up. And time to wrap it up.
