Okay. Well, my name is Lee. I'm from Scarborough. Big up Star Scarborough. Big up. Best place in the world, in my opinion. Literally. Yeah, yeah. Literally. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Um, I'm Filipino Jamaican, um, born and raised in Toronto. Love literally everything that has to do with art. Love making music, made music since I was in high school, been around music, love creating stuff. I made short films, I did clothing, and literally everything that you can think of in terms of like anything creative, but yeah, that's just me. I'm just a creative person. I love things. You love making things. You're a creator.

Literally, you're a creator. Um I think uh you know, someone asked me this earlier today, and I'm I'm just gonna ask it right off this the top. Do you think you're living your dream right now? Because I think uh, and I'm not gonna speak for you, but I feel like you're in a place where you're like you're making all the things and seeing the things you want to do uh in your lifetime, like right now. And I'm I'm super proud of you. And then so anyway, we have a lot to get through. We got like 30 minutes left. Um, let's talk about the brand. Let's start with the brand because um I think you were one of few. Like it's it's a trend to have like the cutoff shorts. But when you dropped that, I was like, damn. And like you do this, no, no disrespect. I'm sorry if you're not on her close friends, but it's like you put that you put that on her close friends, and you go, yo, if anyone and any friends and family want that, you can get it. Literally fair prices, too. I actually really appreciate that. Hey man, I hope you're I hope you're making bare money off of that, you know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying? I'm crying, bro. So tell me about the brand because I I it kind of like for me, it came out of nowhere, and I was so surprised.

I I feel like when you release things like that, you get to test a market. That's like a safe, it's like a safe test, right? You're like, oh, okay, I know this hits, I know this doesn't really hit, but you don't have to like shoot yourself in the foot on like over-ordering or trying to impress anyone because you're like, you know what? I'm just playing. Like this is a playground for you. Yeah, and like that's why I love the brand. And like you're not even really even doing like marketing yet. Your marketing is like you wearing it. Yeah, you put it in on people that are fly, and then people just wear and then go, yo. Like my trainer would literally was like, yo, I want those. And I showed you, and you're like, sorry. Yeah, you're like, yo, I only have the the the the black and uh yellow ones, and I was like, yo, but he wants the grays.

You know, it's funny because and and and it is a privilege to be uh feeling comfortable and have the privilege to have a sound mind um and the the um how do I say the the confidence to want to do things. But once I feel like you step over that line and you have the confidence to do things, it's like, yeah, why not just try? Literally, and half the battle is just trying.

So Mad Castle, Mad Castle really started um because me and Key met at Foot Locker in 2021. Shout out, Key, for real. Um, 2021 met at Foo Locker, started working. Um, then 2022 hit, so like everything started to like open up because of like COVID and stuff like that.

We didn't start, we didn't even start DJing yet.

So 2022, we go to this party. I think it was after like a shooting stars game. We're like, what do we do?

I've never been outside before. This is gonna be my first party I've ever been to. Key's never been outside before. What? Right. So we go to Rose's. You remember Rose's patio?

It's on Queen Street. It used to be like a day party spot.

But I remember I think it was Xandro's and Sid was spinning.

And then what's it called? We came, we pull up, we're like, oh my gosh, it's like a different world. We heard them spinning. We're just like, bro, what if we actually just started DJing? Like we both love music, like, why not?

That was it. That was it. That was the moment.

Next day we went to Longa McQuaid, got a rental for the little DDG, DDJ, like Rev4. No, no, no, not C DJ. No, no money for that. Yeah, right. But a little controller, and then we just literally taught ourselves.

And at that time, like, how were you guys getting the music? Because I feel like being a a DJ, it's so hard now that we're in like the streaming era to get like downloads of music. Like, are you ripping them off of YouTube? Like, how are you getting the music? Like, how are you making your crates?

Honestly, like, because we started um on laptops, we had to do like through Serato and stuff like that. So we just like looked up tutorials on how to download music. We got a lot of edits from SoundCloud. SoundCloud.

There's some edits that people play to this day that we used to play back then. It's just like, man, good old days. What a time. What a time. What a time. Yeah. To be alive. To be alive. For real. But yeah, that was just that was the beginning of everything. And everything ever since then.

And then so what was the first party or thing you spat that you spun at that you were like, okay, I can do this.

Okay. So I think it was still in the summer. It was like a couple weeks after we taught ourselves how to DJ.

Our homegirl Marge, so I don't Marge, she was supposed to be here today. I don't know Marge. But um Marge was like, okay, I'm having a little kickback. Do you guys want to DJ for it? I'm like, hey man, sure. It's gonna be our first little gig. There's gonna be hella friends there. So we're just like, you know.

It's a safe place. It's a safe place. You know what? I'm starting to understand your blueprint. Really? And I think I think I'm gonna I'm gonna expose it at the end of this. It's a good thing, though. Okay, okay, okay. I'm gonna talk about it now, but it's like if you want to start something, you want to start anything, start practicing first. Yes. And then start around friends and family.

Yeah, we recorded on our iPhone, but then we synced it with the laptop, so the laptop was recording us spinning.

That that sounds like some technical we had to like we wanted to record our stuff so we can hear it back so we can learn and like learn from our mistakes basically because we were still learning. And then at the end of the party, I think it was the day after, I got all the footage, I got all the audio from my laptop and I edited like some videos and I posted on Instagram, and then some guy uh reached out to us to say, like, oh, do you guys want to spin at my new c my new bar that I'm opening?

Really? Yeah, okay, and then that was our first gig. And then it was like, Okay, you're gonna get paid for this. Yeah, right. And like what what was the first time? Like, what was the number you gave the first person? Like, what you were gonna do?

Every art style that you're doing is gonna help you in the future. So it's like let's roll this into the the artistry. And how does uh your knowledge of of of DJing how's it changed you making music? So and how did you get into that too? Obviously, but uh yeah, let's go with how do you got into music and and then how DJs influenced the way you make music.

Okay. So I've been singing since I was a kid. Like I sang in the church when I was a kid. Um karaokes, you know, Filipinos.

Yeah, literally, yeah. From that video, um, I was like, again, no excuses. Let me just try it out. I know I have a voice, I know I love music, let me just make some stuff. I still have some files from till this day.

Do you think do you re revisit them? Like, like, do you revisit them thinking I'm gonna work on them, or do you revisit them thinking that's the that's we're we're done here?
