Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Your week can be “too busy” even when it’s only one night of plans, and we feel that hard as we pick up the mic after missing a week. The recording starts a little chaotic, then quickly turns into the kind of real-life catch-up that makes hanging out feel like a full agenda: motorcycles, money, work schedules, and the constant math of what you can fit into a normal week.
We get into a Harley-Davidson detour that stole the podcast slot, then shift into a Harley themed wedding that somehow sounds both hilarious and genuinely fun. From there it’s straight into Florida trip planning, where the Airbnb vs hotel debate gets real once holiday prices spike. We talk budget travel, choosing dates, whether flying is worth the cost, and why a road trip plan only works if you’re honest about who will actually drive.
Then we hit the everyday stuff everyone argues about: why we don’t text back fast, how notifications disappear, and why a phone call still beats a message when you need an answer. We also vent about iPhone battery life, broken charging ports, cases vs going caseless, and screen protectors that crack if you look at them wrong. Finally, we end on DIY home repair with garage door torsion springs and why that “serious injury” warning label isn’t just for show. If you like unfiltered friend talk with real takeaways, subscribe, share the show, and leave a review.

Recording Chaos And A Missed Week
SPEAKER_04You're not getting a choice. Good evening.
SPEAKER_02Good evening. Sounds serious. Yeah, it sounds very serious. This is far from Oh, we didn't even check it. I haven't thought of that. Damn. And we took a week off, so who knows what happened. Oh yeah, whose fault is that? Mine. Yeah. Is there any like gauge that we can see? Well, if it doesn't work, I guess that's two weeks without podcast. There's gotta be something.
SPEAKER_04Oh now you did it. Oh that is gotta be. Audio. Oh, it's working. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_02Mine's working too. Man, first day? Talk about on filtered. So we have to be recording this on uh Monday night. Danner has other stuff in his agenda this week. Yeah. At least I'm not missing a podcast. I called you and asked you if you want me to come. You didn't want to come. Not really. I told you it was up to you. And you're like, ah, we'll miss a week. Yeah. No one cared anyway. It's a pretty good one. This you said is episode 12. We only missed one week. So three months, pretty much. That's pretty good. That's
The Harley Shop Takes Priority
SPEAKER_02pretty good. Especially for me, buddy. Well, that's pretty good for you. Yeah. Why didn't you why couldn't we put out a wonderful podcast last week? I had to go pick my hog up from the hog shop. You disobeyed and sacrificed no podcast. Okay, my plan was I was gonna call you on the way to the Harley shop because I was gonna have to drive my truck there, pay for my bike, and then get a ride back later to pick either my truck or bike up.
SPEAKER_00You know.
SPEAKER_02But then Remy got off work or got doing whatever she was doing early. So I just rode my bike there, and then she picked me up. Well, she picked me up kind of from the Harley shop. I started walking home because she was a little late. Didn't you have to pick your bike off? No, that was that was when I dropped it off. I'm losing it. I she got done doing what she was doing early, so she drove me there, and then I picked her down. I was like, I was thinking the week before I was and yeah.
SPEAKER_05Gosh.
SPEAKER_02So you have to work two days early? Yeah. Just for your motorcycle. Yeah. So not only are you sacrificing things for your like from the podcast for this bike. It's also you're taking away from your job. I got to leave early. You just sound jealous. I am jealous. Not only did half hour. Not only did you leave two days early, you also took a day off. Yep. That is bowlone. We didn't miss you anyways. I didn't miss you. I don't know you, Dad. No, you must have. You snapped me. Yeah. Well, I just wanted to break. Um you snapped me. I don't know if I told you, but I told Gavin that Snapchat I sent you. I didn't drink the yeah, I opened a beer and didn't drink it for a while. Like I think I took like two sips and then just set it down. I just had to send you a picture of a beer because that was was that Saturday or was that Friday still? Oh, it was Saturday. It might have been Friday. Oh, I kind of think it was like 10 in the morning. I kind of think it was Saturday because I won I had to send it before you guys got done with water.
SPEAKER_04It's like 10 in the morning.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Not cool. You just sound jealous. I am jealous. Yeah. We need our own pontoon. We do. But you got rid of yours. Sorry, I couldn't title it.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_02You could just go home and buy one. All your money. I am broker than brogue. Flatpoor. Fucking rich. No. You can afford haircuts. I can only afford one year. Adela gave me this yesterday. Well, it's nice. We bought a clippers. In a span of time, it was cheaper to buy the clippers than to go get a $20 haircut every couple months. How much was the clippers? Like $80? $60 or $80 or something. Like it was like the middle of the line kind of value. Didn't spend a lot. Don't spend like add some for like $30.
SPEAKER_04I don't know. Feel feel bad. I'm not supporting small businesses anymore.
SPEAKER_03Are you gonna get professionally cut for your mom's wedding?
SPEAKER_04Maybe.
A Harley-Themed Wedding Game Plan
SPEAKER_04Maybe. Speaking of that, yeah, my mom's getting married. Well her and Daddy Dave. Can't wait. I'm excited. Me too.
SPEAKER_02I may or may not get a little drunk. I didn't realize until the day that uh your uncle is the ordained or whatever they call it, yeah. Oh that'll be interesting. That's right up your alley. This is a Harley themed wedding. I know. So maybe Remy will see this because like this is my dream wedding. I mean, like, it's my dream wedding. Every guy's been dreaming about their wedding since they're three years old, right? You've been dreaming about Harley wedding that long. No, I'm good. But maybe Remy will be like, oh, I love that wedding, and then you know, I can I can have my Harley wedding, your uncle can her day in it. You want a Harley wedding, you're that you're that big of a Harley guy?
SPEAKER_01Hardly? Hardley.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you got a lot of Harley's.
SPEAKER_01My Harleys.
SPEAKER_02You gonna ride your bike there?
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_02You better ride with someone. I wanna get a hotel somewhere down by there. That's a long drive. Well my grandpa's supposed to ride with me.
SPEAKER_04If he doesn't, we're gonna get all down.
SPEAKER_03Is your uncle staying down there?
SPEAKER_04I'm getting drunk.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I don't we should get no like how in the uh was it Action City or whatever?
SPEAKER_02In Eau Claire, you can get like the whole like the party room or whatever where it's all bunk beds. That could be fun.
SPEAKER_03Bunch of full growing people.
SPEAKER_02Well, that's where we wanted to go. Do they have Uber there? I don't know if you because like it's uh I don't I guess I only looked at the one time where the actual wedding's at, and it's kind of out in the country, isn't it? No, not not at the wedding at O'Claire. Yeah, there should be, I would think. I never went bar hopping like well I have, but not like in a big hustle bustle town. That would be fun.
SPEAKER_04It's not worth getting a DUI anymore.
SPEAKER_00I mean, also I I guess I don't know what how O'Claire lays out or whatever.
SPEAKER_02But like lots of towns like that, you can walk between them. Like when Rami and I go to Milwaukee.
SPEAKER_03If we went to Milwaukee, we just walked everywhere.
SPEAKER_02Well, how are we supposed to go to Action City to the bounce house?
SPEAKER_03Oh.
SPEAKER_02If we if we don't stay down there then, we should definitely go down there.
SPEAKER_03We should.
Florida Trip Costs And Travel Options
SPEAKER_04I also we gotta figure out our Florida trip how long we're gonna go.
SPEAKER_02We're gonna go for a week, right? Sure. Are you gonna do any homeless adventures while we're there? Rami probably won't let me. Rami let him. We need to figure out also. So I guess Remy and Adela didn't tie. I don't know if we talked about this on the podcast or just between the two of us. Oh, anyways, we're playing Florida and we thought Airbnb would be cheaper. But Rami figured that uh when she looked over like the holiday span, Airbnbs go way up. Hotels only go up like 50 bucks a night. Really? So we might want to like you know decide our maybe we're getting hotels, huh? We might want to decide our date and then put that in and just see. I don't know, because I'd personally, if we could find like an Airbnb with a pool or something, like you know, I'd rather have pool well if we do hotels, we should get the same hotels. Yeah. Well, like if we could get an Airbnb with a pool and it's only like a hundred bucks more, I think the Airbnb would almost be nicer, just actually having like a living room and stuff. But worked at plane tickets yesterday. Expensive. Maybe we should do our cheap car trailer with the window. No, not of no none of you want to drive. I'm game for another road trip. I'll drive. They don't want to drive. Huh. Especially if we're doing a full week. We could drive like I don't know, somewhere, find somewhere to stay like halfway, do a day there, then drive down. Because like, yeah, the suggy part when we drove down there, it was like we just boom, boom, boom, you know. So it was the whole time driving, but we could just like break it up. No one else wants to drive. I think if we didn't though, we should rent a car.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Or buy a cheap minivan.
SPEAKER_02Like a minivan. If we rented a minivan or buy a cheap minivan. I don't know if they'd go for it. Well, we'll just tell them rent. Potentially broken. We'll just tell them we're renting a minivan and we'll show up with like a $500. I realize this is gonna be on the internet. And they both look like that. They'll forget. Yeah, they'll forget. You're giving women too much credit. Maybe we could let them fly and we can drive. Could do that. But yeah, we could get like a $500 minivan. And then be like, oh mini terra have to go pick up the rental, just go on a marketplace run, pick it off. Come back and be like, yeah, I thought a rental would be nicer than this, but oh. Uh we drove down there again, I would not want to take my drink.
SPEAKER_00Take the V10.
SPEAKER_02No. I don't think any of us have good enough vehicles for mine's like on the edge at this point. Yours yours would make it. We'd have to I'd have to put a little more work into it. Yeah. I got a brake caliper hanging up. I'll make it. I don't think we should drive that hard.
SPEAKER_00You could easily fix that.
SPEAKER_02Sounds like a lot of work. Just bring tools with. We'll be fine. Wasn't your brake hanging up when we left Florida? Is it the same one? Like squealing. Yeah. Scratching. I don't know if it's the same one or not. Do you ever get a fix? No. It's been in the shop like several times. They never said anything bad about the brake, so I just know it's hanging up every once in a while. Yeah, I can feel it and hear it. It's intermittent though. Until it becomes like a constant problem, there's no point fixing it.
SPEAKER_03I can't say that's how I am.
SPEAKER_02Well, no, there's why spend money on it if it's not a serious problem. I mean it's like a mediocre problem.
SPEAKER_05Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I gotta say, after the hot day today, it does not smell that bad sitting here next to you. No. I was smelling myself earlier, but I don't smell myself right now. You sat in the AC mostly.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. You did. I did try and sit next to you.
SPEAKER_02You were in this kid's tier all a lot.
SPEAKER_03And I got out to help you guys a bunch of like a Well, that was nice of you.
SPEAKER_04I wanted to be nice. That's that way you guys can say that I wasn't contributing to the heat.
SPEAKER_02Or whatever you say. My brain has not been working lately. Yeah, it's filled. I don't I think I'm fucking got Alzheimer's. You need to get those vitamins again. Oh shit, I probably start taking the vitamins. Maybe it's testicle cancer. Maybe the testicle cancer is affecting your brain. Why would it be testicle cancer? Because your fuckers are swollen up. No, they're not. They're just fine. No. I saw the picture. I am going to drag my nuts across your face. Right after this.
SPEAKER_04All that swath and stuff down there? No. Right across your face. Think of that smell.
SPEAKER_03Probably have two bruises, those things are so heavy.
SPEAKER_04No, but you won't look. You seem lost.
SPEAKER_01Remember you promised me dinner before the podcast?
SPEAKER_02Adela? Adela said dinner would be ready before the podcast. That's on her, not me.
SPEAKER_00Well.
SPEAKER_02I was just as surprised as you were. Sad.
SPEAKER_04If I check my phone more often.
Why We Never Text Back
SPEAKER_04You have that problem at all?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I know I know you never checked your phone. Remy Hazak. She's like, you're always on your phone, but like. Well, especially at work. Like, I'll be on my phone decent amount some days at work. Like, you know, we'll have time, whatever. Like, just not a whole lot going on. But then, like, we'll get a busy spell and I won't check it for five hours or whatever, and like I won't even look at the time. Yeah. Yeah. They don't understand what it's like. Mm-hmm. Or like the worst is well, like, last time, you know, I'll get Snapchats and it's like, ah, you know, nothing. Like, it's just a Snapchat, so I'll clear it. Well, then I go on my phone, I cleared all my notifications, because I hate notifications. Well then I don't even think of it. You know, it's like you know, ah, they're just Snapchats, like, and then I'll open it and yeah, it's it doesn't matter what way I try to get a hold of you. Phone call, text message, Snapchat. It's pretty much a guaranteed half hour, hour later to get back to I haven't. I'd say phone calls probably like the most like if you really want to try and get a hold of me. Cause like text, depending on what it is, like if it's something important and I read a text, I'll respond right away. But also, like lots of times I'll like look at text, and if I do something, I won't respond right away. I'll be like, oh I'll respond later. Well then, yeah, I forget about it. That's kind of all I am with Snapchat lately, is like I'll get a snap, and I mean I don't even like open it. I'll be like, I'll open it in like a few minutes. And then like four hours later, I'll open it. And of course, every time that happens, someone's like sent something. Like, ah, fuck out. And they never know, like, do I respond? Like, or like it's four hours later, they probably really don't care anymore. So yeah, I I have that problem. I think the most reliable way of getting a hold of me is a phone call. If like you need something, call me. Well, if I see a call, I'll call you back whenever. But like text messages, I try and text people back, but lots of times, like, if it's not something important, I think I'll text later and then I just never do. I don't know why phone calls I always remember to call back later, but uh text bus texting for me. I've got um 205 on open textbooks. Well, I always open mine just I hate notifications. Notifications and people who don't close out of their tabs. Remy would have like 30 tabs open. Oh women are like that. Bell does the same thing. I just like whenever I have a phone, I just close out of all of them. I don't get it. Bell does the same thing. Like at the end of the day, it's close out. It's like every time I'm done with an app, I close out of it. It's easier because I'm like, if you want to go between apps, you can like open and just slide over. It's like, well, what's the difference if you slide all the way and then just click the button? But I don't know. I mean, I'll do that like if I'm I don't know on Facebook or like Instagram and I see something and I'm fact checking a post or something, or like whatever, you know, if I'm jumping between like Google and something or whatever. But like then when I'm done, I just I never shut my phone out off with open apps. I don't either. I I can't I don't know why it bothers me so much. I mean it really doesn't do anything. Pretty sure it takes up like foam battery, doesn't it? It might. I don't know. I was always told it Todd that it takes up or uses your batteries faster, so I fucking iPhone is notorious for bad batteries.
SPEAKER_04They're like two years in and it's fucking junk. I hate that.
SPEAKER_02Fucking self-destroying batteries. Literally, self-destroying charging ports, too. Yeah, yeah. They're mine. I well, it wasn't even a year old and I had to use a wireless charger. I have one charger. One charger cord that will work with my phone. All the rest don't work. That one they're all the same, damn near. That one works. I want to try. I've tried that. I yeah, oh I can't get a fucking iPhone switched to that USB-C stuff. I even got the flap on my case to try and keep shit out of it. Oh, two of them doesn't work. Oh two of them. Poor full. This is like the first time I actually got the nice newest iPhone. That's impressive. Oh screenshot? No, that's just a screensaver. Oh, you use one of those? Yeah. Well, the other day dropped it right on an iBeam. I went to pull it out of my pocket and oh slid on my hand. Right on the corner of an I-beam. I guess when you're one and a half-handed, that's what happens. Oh. Not this phone, but
iPhone Cases Screens And Bad Chargers
SPEAKER_02I think the one before. I didn't have a case. I'm like, you know, it's kind of nice holding my phone off this big walky case. I'm walking through work and I dropped not a lug nut in there, like last back or whatever now. Shattered the whole back of it. Like the one time I'm as we're like destroying a phone. The one time I'm just being stupid and it down a roll. It does feel so nice when you don't have a phone case. Like how small they are, and like you put them in your pocket. It's just nice and compact. Like this thing, it adds almost double the thickness of my phone. Uh-huh. Oh. That mesmerizes me when I can go without a case. I think it's funny, like, when I took my case off to put the SLATA screen protector on, so I didn't have the crack screen protector on, and I like wiped my phone down, it looked like a brand new phone. I'm like, oh, that's weird because my phone looks like a piece of shit with the case on. I'm ready to get a new phone. I dropped mine on a heat register the other day, and I thought it like scratched the screen, all this shit. Oh, the paint from the heat register, it was white paint. It got on my screen and I was able to scratch it off. I don't scratch off. Because I hate them screens. I hate screen protectors of any sort. I even cut it off of my case. It's built on. Cut it off. Those ones suck. I don't even like both cases. I don't mind. They crack way easier than the screen though. Like you know, because I've gone with phones without anything, and it's a long time before I crack them. Where screen protectors, literally, I'll have them on for a day and they're cracked. I think the best time was I bought one of those, like you got, and it was like a whole box was like indestructible, like like this is the best screen protector you can get. I opened it and it was freaking out of the box.
SPEAKER_05Like what the fuck?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Well, when I bought this phone, it had uh I bought it with like a screen protector. So I bought it at the Verizon store, so it was probably like $40 or whatever for a screen protector.
SPEAKER_01First day at work, I leaned up against a Skidster and broke like a little corner off.
SPEAKER_02And then I went, so I brought it back to Verizon the next day and told them like because they said that the screen protector had a warranty. No, here the screen protector has a warranty, so if your screen cracks with it on, they pay for the new screen, not screen protector. It's dumb as shit. It's a day old, like how Oh, if you ever need I don't know about these ones, but like the iPhone tabs, which I can't imagine that they're much different. I can work on.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_02You can buy a kit on ch off Amazon from China, and then you can take the whole phone apart, change batteries and shit.
SPEAKER_03Huh.
SPEAKER_02Done it before.
SPEAKER_03Hey, you ever changed the charger?
SPEAKER_02I'll never change the charger. You'd have to look and see if I got one on scam was done. I would imagine that's possible.
SPEAKER_01Your porn? Pop-ups are coming off.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. What is that? Isn't that Bing? I don't know. This is your laptop. Yeah, it's been at your house. I don't come down here other than when you're here. Other than to do my laundry. Nice.
SPEAKER_00Sounds like you need new underwear.
SPEAKER_02Ah
Fish Opinions And Other Hard Truths
SPEAKER_02dude. I had some, so with all that wetness going on today, and far as we're scared. They all felt wet. No matter what. How about you? I didn't have any bad farts today. Last night I was farting off a storm. I think it was because uh I got some smoked fish when we were out north.
SPEAKER_03I think that really gave me the gas.
SPEAKER_02You like smoked fish? No. Oh. I barely like fish. Got the smoke fish from Fort Wayne. Fried, deep fried.
SPEAKER_00Deep fried. Good fried fish.
SPEAKER_02We'll have to see whenever Adela makes you the fish now, if it's as good as mine. Oh, you filled it.
SPEAKER_00You better tell us both the truth.
SPEAKER_02I think my problem with fish, eating fish, is it smells how it tastes. Like when you pull it up out of the lake, the way it smells, that's how it tastes when you eat it. I don't like it. Not if you keep it like fresh and clean.
SPEAKER_00Oh, it it smells how it tastes how it smells.
SPEAKER_02Tastes how it smells, yeah. I hate that. Like you shoot a deer, that's not the case. You kill a cow, that's not the case. But like a deer, if you don't give me take care of it right and stuff. The gaminess I think tastes like how a deer smells. I don't think so. Not as bad as fish. I don't know.
SPEAKER_04Fish is the way it works.
SPEAKER_03I don't think I think fish taste delicious.
SPEAKER_04I don't know. I used to eat the hell out of fish when I was younger.
SPEAKER_02I wanna have you ever tried like smoked salmon or trout? Nope, I don't want to. I bet you'd like that. If you don't like smoked salmon or trout, it's either a texture thing or you're weird. Why? Because it is delicious. Says you though. You like fish.
SPEAKER_01Next time I go up north, I'll get some bread.
SPEAKER_02Once or twice a year, I get a craving for fish.
SPEAKER_04I'll eat it, I'll be satisfied for another six months, two years. Huh. I don't know what it is about it. Unless I've been drinking.
SPEAKER_02Also, I cannot have lemon on my fish. I don't like lemon. I think lemon makes it worse. The whole like I taste how it smells. Oh, I'm the opposite. I think if you put lemon on fish, it just tastes like lemon, and then it's like the people who put lemon on fish, it's like do you really like fish if you're putting lemon on it, or you just put lemon on it to disguise like everything and eat it? I don't know. I don't mind a little sweetness in my tartar sauce, but well. I don't like lemon on fish. Why? I don't like like I said, it just tastes like lemon then. I don't um yeah, somewhat. I think, honest to God, that might be why I don't like fish. Because I went to a restaurant one time and like tasted like fishy lemon. Like it just, I don't know. Ever since then I've not once in a blue moon, that fish just snaps. Like right now, I've been craving it. Kind of on the edge of not craving it anymore. Like now you're not gonna want it when I delegate it. Yeah, it's kind of on the edge. Since she abandoned us tonight, uh yeah. Yeah. I'm just gonna keep bringing that off. It seems like a roast of girls. Kind of. You make fun of me tonight. No. You'll know in the morning. Well, in this case, not the morning. I only make fun of you because I love you. Is that how I vote? No. Why do you make fun of me then? I love you. That's a little uh okay. Not in that way. I love you as like a brother. Really? Kinda. I am your parents' best kid. No, they've said that before.
SPEAKER_00I think Remy might have you beat now.
SPEAKER_02Why? Just too nice to him or what? Dang it, Remy. You're taking his parents, you're taking him, you're just taking the whole ra old clan from me. Sad about that.
unknownShh.
SPEAKER_04Oh.
SPEAKER_01Back to. Back
Small-Town Encounters Up North
SPEAKER_01top.
SPEAKER_02And off of Canada. Talking about that this weekend when Remy and I were on our way up north. We pulled into Quick Trip and Spooner, and some guy pulled up behind us and like in Himmer Chevy. And his license plates had youper. And it was like Wisconsin and Michigan license plates like cut up by each other. But it was just his front plate. Like I think it was like a I don't think it was actually license plate cut, but like they just made it look like it was Wisconsin, Michigan. Whatever. So I don't know what his back license plate was. I comes up, oh, it's nice to have a truck, ain't it? Like just super heavy accident or something. I'm like, yeah. I didn't know what to say to the guy. I'm like, yeah, it's nice to have a truck, I guess. Oh. I'm in my shitty V10. Like you brought that up there? Yeah. Gosh. You really know how to treat a lady. Mm-hmm. You really know.
Garage Door Springs And DIY Risk
SPEAKER_02Oh, Derek, my garage door springs have been delivered. Nice. You helped me put him in. No. I forgot. I was supposed to help Gavin tonight.
SPEAKER_04Why?
SPEAKER_02He asked me if I would help him uh what was it?
SPEAKER_01Put his loader brackets on his tractor.
SPEAKER_02Oh. Why'd that go for you? I'm here doing a podcast. Sorry, Gavin. You don't want to help me put Grouch Door Springs in, huh? No. I don't like Grouchar Springs. Why? Oh. I don't foresee this ending. They're not hard to do. I can help you because they're kind of dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. I kinda know what I mean. Yeah. The part I don't trust myself in is unwinding the one that's not broke. That's the only part I'm scared to do.
SPEAKER_01Well, are you err Yeah, you'd have to remove it.
SPEAKER_02So only do like quarter turns at a time. You know, don't try and over like do it fast, whatever. I'm aware of that. Yeah. But I'm scared to unwind it. The winding I think I can handle. It's the same thing just backwards. No. Quarter twist at a time. Put in, pull this one out, bring it down, put this in. Let this touch your garage or lift up, pull out. I think I gotta order. Maybe. How do they break? I suppose they're just constantly like this rubbing on each other. Bam. Hmm. I don't even know. I I don't think I can do them tonight. I don't know if they sent the little rods for it or not. I hope I ordered the right ones. It's really complicated to order garage door springs. Three measurements. What is it though? You gotta have the inside diameter of the spring. You gotta have the like thickness of the whatever.
SPEAKER_01Of the the winding.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. And what's the other the length?
SPEAKER_01Three length, diameter, and like gauge probably.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Huh.
SPEAKER_02I don't think I did it right. What's the worst that can happen? It'll work. It can make it work. Well, I mean, if it's bigger, it should just make the garage door easier to open, right? You just put less twists in it, I think. Or maybe you'd have to put more. If it's the same gauge but longer, I could have to put more twists. It's just for longer travel.
SPEAKER_01No. How does that work? I hate springs.
SPEAKER_02How do you understand how how many twists it's gonna have?
SPEAKER_01It'll tell you that it should tell you.
SPEAKER_02You want the same number of twists on each side. You can count the twist by you know there's like a spray paint in the line. Yeah. I'm just gonna go until I'm happy. That's it. Well, I think it's a good thing. Yeah, so I mean it should have like a rough estimate, and then you just do it, and then you open your garage door, and like, you know, if you have too many twists, your garage door will lift up by itself. If not enough twists, it won't stay up.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_02So you want to figure like where it's easy enough to lift, and then when you stop lifting, it'll just stay where it's at. Yeah, you find the happy media. So you get it close and then you adjust it. Oh, that's uh I think a 4th of July problem.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, just be careful. People get messed up from Roger or something.
SPEAKER_03Really? Oh.
SPEAKER_00Like if you let stuff go or whatever, those springs are under a lot. Like people have got rods to the face and have had to have like plastic surgery.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. This would be interesting.
SPEAKER_00It's one of those things where it says like serious injury or death, but like it's more serious than most stickers that's in the well.
SPEAKER_02Um, if I don't make it to the next podcast, the goddamn rodmy. I was gonna hire it out, but it probably costs a lot more than hire it out. Have Zach Multicon. Oh, maybe. We probably do it. Do I have to? Oh. Yeah, I got the springs. Or the parents kill my honored bucks.
SPEAKER_04And I don't get hurt doing it.
SPEAKER_03I mean, I think he's gonna sell a lot of garage noise.
SPEAKER_04Uh that's a good idea.
SPEAKER_02Have a few? I haven't not a ton. I mean, I probably installed like a dozen or so. You're just not confident, you're skilled. I can help, yeah. You're nervous. It's just I hate garage noises. I hate springs in general. And yeah, why do they invent that shit? Oh, everything that like tape measures, have you ever tried like taking a tape measure apart? Oh, I've you know, you have tape measure that's still good, but it gets like dirt or something there. So it's like I'll try taking it apart. No, you might as well just throw it on it. It's like anything with springs is just pain. Like recoils. Like small motor recoils, taking those apart, and it's always a pain with the spring. Anything with a spring is dangerous. I mean, well, not a lot of things the springs are dangerous to work on. But you'd think that in our advanced society, we'd have a better method.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they're starting to use like air trucks and stuff for log spin and stuff. Air ride garage doors.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Well, they could make the garage door lighter, then you wouldn't need a spring. I tell you what, I didn't realize how heavy that damn door was.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_02Doesn't look that heavy.
SPEAKER_00Well, then you have to lift it up perfectly straight. Like you know, the springs help you do that, where like when you're trying to lift it by yourself and you get a little crooked, it just stopped.
SPEAKER_02It's heavy. I about herniated myself trying to lift that up there. So did it fall on you when you the spring broke or no, I I don't even know when the spring broke. I got home one night and I went to open the door and it came up like two feet. And I'm like, well, what the fuck? So I close it, closes five, and then again it goes up like two feet. What the fuck? So I go inside, and I didn't even think about the spring, like could be an issue. So I like uh something in this goddamn garage door opener. So I pull the fucking safety or like the release latch.
SPEAKER_05Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_02And then I go to pick up the door. I'm like, holy fuck, I can't pick it up. And I'm like, uh I wonder if something's wrong with the spring, and I look up and it's in two pieces. Uh uh. Yeah, there's my problem. You know, thinking about how dangerous like a little spring like that is, can you imagine? You know the big ones we get. Oh, yeah, like the commercial.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Those things are dangerous.
SPEAKER_02Thought I had big ones. Imagine the guy that's fucking lining them up. You have to wind the house for her or it's tight. I don't know. I would think so, but.
SPEAKER_00Cause it also know, like your garage drawer probably doesn't have it because it's fairly old garage drawer, but some of the newer garage drawers have it where like your springs clip into the middle, and then it has like a drill attachment.
SPEAKER_02And you just run a drill and it'll twist them both. Oh fancy. I wish I had that. Uh you always scared now. I was pretty dumb with myself. Leading up to this. I believe in you. You believe in me?
SPEAKER_00Make sure you twist it the right way, also. I don't know which way it has to go off, but like you'd have to look at it.
SPEAKER_02Uh one side's painted for the left side, and I don't know which way it's gotta go.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_02Pretty sure it's gotta go like that.
SPEAKER_00I think so.
SPEAKER_02You want your tension to pull this way. So you'd yeah, you'd spin it off, like you go off of the phone, I think. I think, yeah. I think that's right. I don't know. I bet we could crank it out in like 20 minutes. Don't shoot. Oh. Are you doing both sides or just the broken one? Doing both sides because I ordered a pair, so that way they match. Okay, so I didn't order the right size. And I'm like thinking, okay, this one broke. Well, it's not old the other one is, is it?
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02It was almost cheaper just to order the pair than it was to order one side.
SPEAKER_00Almost cheaper. That means it was still more expensive.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. But by the time you account for shipping, it's cheaper to order the pair with shipping. Okay. In the in long in the long run. Like if I had to order one side now, uh, and then down the road I ordered the other side, it'd be cheaper with shipping to order both. Oh.
SPEAKER_04Like I said, I don't think I got the size the same, so figured it'd be better if they match than being
The Problem With “Almost Cheaper”
SPEAKER_04mismatched.
SPEAKER_03Oh. Talk about like how you said almost cheaper.
SPEAKER_02Like, so many people say that are like, when me and you're close to the same weight and kind of like trying to lose weight, and one of us would be like, oh, I'm almost lighter than you. It's like, okay, so you're still fatter. That's another pet peeve of you. Yeah. It's like almost the same weight would make like sense, but like, yeah, almost lighter, almost cheaper. It's like it's still more. I mean, almost cheap. It's not a pet peeve of mine, but I just chuckle at it a lot, like when people say to it. It's almost, I mean, it was okay. It's cheaper with shit. Oh. I don't give a shit. Why tear it apart twice in my lifetime and let's do it once? Right? Mm-hmm. You're just too cheap. I would have taken one from work. I thought of all. You were looking at them. I know I took other parts for the door. In the process, it snapped one of like the rollers in the track. Okay. I took one of those and replaced that. Grab three different ones. I figured one out of the three would be the right one for that door. I was right. Nice.
SPEAKER_00One of the speed. Nope. I'm pretty good at fixing stuff. No. Putting junkyard parts in your head, don't feel at least you're fixing it. At least I'm fixing it. I'm not sending them a bill.
SPEAKER_04I don't really use the garage door much anyway. Yeah. Is it bell ever parking there? The winner. Summer, what's the point? Unless it's gonna hail like tonight.
SPEAKER_02Should fix it tonight so she can park in the garage. You would have if she made you dinner, right? Yeah. But she will make me dinner, but now. Alright, Derek, I feel like we're getting boring
Busy Schedules And The Sign Off
SPEAKER_02for the night. Yeah. Alright, well, thanks for watching our podcast once again. Sorry we missed last week. It's his fault. See if there's not one posted. We're not as dedicated. Yeah. Not until you like make us famous. Then we'll be done. It's getting harder. We got pretty busy lives and schedules. Not at summer. It sounds true because it's just one night a week. But like one night a week is especially when like you know Wednesdays, whatever, was when we were doing it. Well then you really only have like Thursdays because like the other one of us doing something on Friday, you know, is pretty good. So like Yeah, it's just one night a week, but it seems to like cut your week in half damn near. And it seems like there's always something that pops up. And then you have to like figure it out. Oh yeah, if we miss another one, we miss another one. Oh. We're not as dedicated. We'll keep going for a while. We talk about maybe doing like every other week on them. I think we're still still gonna try every week if we uh sky sting loads.
SPEAKER_04Alright. Well, I think that's enough for us.
SPEAKER_03Thanks for the last time. Yep.
