What is good, everybody? Welcome into episode five of the My Name Creators Podcast, man. We're back with another exciting epic set episode for you guys, as we have another guest on today, uh uh PicFed legend, if you will, which we'll get into. But of course, as always, I do have my co-host Nate with us, WSC Stage Creator. How are we doing, Nate?

SPEAKER_00

I'm doing great. I'm excited for this episode of the podcast. We have a very special guest. I always enjoy our conversations off-screen, but today we get to chat with him, with all of you guys to listen to this great conversation. We have an OG of Action Figure Fetting, one of the trailblazers of the game. We have GCW. Luke, how are you doing today? Yeah, I'm excited to do this.

SPEAKER_04

I think I'm the second guest, right? On your show. Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Danny was the first. Yeah, excited to be here. Yeah, awesome to have you. Yeah, you've been in this for what 14, 13 years, action figure fetting. It's a long time, man. Yeah, one of the OGs.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So when about did you start your action figure fetting career? And, you know, how'd you learn about like what to do and how to do it?

SPEAKER_04

So I basically started watching stuff back in 2010 when the Mattel figures first came out. And I always wanted to see like, you know, how they look in action and stuff like that. And then the first guy that really popped up for me was Harrison. And from then on out, I I kind of like wanted to start doing it. And you know, my family ended up moving from Germany to the Philippines. And I had a lot of free time on my hands being there. And this is basically when I started, just for fun, you know. Um, I didn't really think about making a career out of it or anything like that. It was mainly that um, you know, I really enjoyed like booking my own shows, like even before um getting into pick fetting, like hand fatting, and yeah, I guess that's kind of how it started. And then, you know, everything obviously evolved over the years. Like um, you know, we started off with the music, then we edited sound effects, like then there was like the Danny era, which was kind of the peak of everything.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, yeah. And uh out of all that time, you know, what we do, quoting Triple H is uh, you know, tell stories with action figures. So far, what do you think is your favorite GCW storyline?

SPEAKER_04

I think the one where we went with Osprey as the world champion, I think that was really good because we also had that whole feud with G-Man, which is all obviously kind of, you know, like a lot of people talk about that. And you know, having help with that with Danny, that was great because um, you know, two people working on it together is obviously um a lot better than just one person.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, sure.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I I feel like uh well, I mean, I guess my brother was pretty shitty at posing and stuff like that, but when he would when he would help me book and stuff like that, it was always good, you know, to like it was like almost like a uh like ping pong kind of right. So you'd have, you know, if you just think of a storyline by yourself or what have you, you know, you're like, yeah, that sounds good, let's book it. But then if you have, you know, somebody working with you pretty closely, then you're able to say, I like this, and they're like, eh, well, what about this? And you're like, oh, actually, yeah, that's that's better than what I had or whatever. And then you just kind of ping-pong it back and forth on that. But as you as you, you know, develop the fetting, this is something that I've always thought about is you know, you I mean, back in the day, you used to kind of do like more content. It wasn't just feding, you used to do other things as well, right? Um, you had there were the customs where you would make the full roster, you had a pretty substantial collection. And then at one point, I I wanted to know, you know, what where did the when did it shift from bec being a collector and being in the loop all the time and wanting to collect the next thing that Mattel puts out? And then you just kind of shifted your focus to only being a fetter. Was that kind of what you think drove your collection? And that's just something you realized over time, or what was the story behind that of you kind of getting out of collecting? Because you used to you used to even do news and stuff like that for Mattel and stuff like that.

SPEAKER_04

So I think I always liked collecting back in the day, but it kind of stopped when I moved out of my parents' place and I had like bills to pay, so it wasn't like very practical to have like 30 John Cena's or whatever. Like I would rather buy like decent food or something like that, right? Than getting the next Cena elite. And you know, like the fetting part really stayed because I mean that was my favorite part about the hobby, and um, yeah, I you know, a lot of people started doing content with figures, like just doing reviews and talking about the news. So I figured like, you know, with feds, you can be more unique, right? Um, you can come up with your own stuff. Like, I don't really think like too many people would want to see me like talk about the latest figures now because you know, you obviously got you for that, Trey. And I mean, there's also other people, obviously, but yeah, the fetting you can always bring, like everyone can basically do it and provide a different kind of experience to people.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, 100%.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you are like one of the the long-standing fetters, so like I was I was gonna say you're like I don't know, you you're like plus 10 manias deep, like that's insane.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I know think about it.

SPEAKER_00

Like crazy. So many people give up and quit at a certain point. What keeps you going?

SPEAKER_04

I mean, I've really slowed down lately, I feel. Um you know, I used to do like one mania a year, basically. That basically stopped like one rumble and one mania a year. I did that for a pretty long time, I think yeah, maybe 11 years or something like that, maybe even 12. Um, but yeah, lately, uh you know, I mean the audience has gotten a little bit smaller, so like putting in all the time that I did like during the peak era, like it's just not practical, you know, for my life. I mean, I right, like, you know, we all got bills to pay and stuff like that. So yeah, but it's still something that I enjoy doing, and you know, I always want to try to find like I'm like at the moment right now, maybe trying to find something to change up things a little bit to make myself different from you know other feds. Like, you know, I always like the idea of like posting more, like, but you know, like maybe shorter clips. But you know, if you build an audience, like they're going to be like, if they expect longer matches, they're gonna be upset about it if you change stuff up. So it's kind of difficult to figure out like what people would actually like because once you change something, often like a lot of people are just automatically negative. And I'm trying to figure out is it really that it's bad or is it just that they don't really want stuff to change?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you've you've talked a lot over the years about wanting to do like WWE style, like three-minute clips and things like that. You've kind of experimented with the shorter matches and stuff. How do you think that's working out? You think it's a little bit of backlash on that?

SPEAKER_04

I mean, there was a little bit of backlash for sure. Um, but also some people enjoyed it. And for me, like, you know, especially with the customs, I like to have a lot of different attires and just showcasing different figures and action, right? So if you always film like very long matches, you're very limited on what you can use and characters, even too, right? You kind of have to stick to the main characters if you film the long matches, and you know, I always kind of want to film with new characters as well to keep things kind of exciting.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, the thing with the short clips too, or like the shorter matches, it also it's like every single day, especially like year to year, it's almost like you know, the game kind of changes in a way. And of course, you could have your own style or whatever, but you know, you're it's like we're we're constantly adding another layer, which adds another element of time to edit, another layer of you know, filming time, another element of setting everything up. And so that can compound, and then you're you know, you're oh, I can just do this match real quick turns into you know a really long, yeah, a really long project in itself, right? You know, if you're if you're just doing things the classic way where it's just a slideshow with music, it's a lot different than, oh, I gotta add in like 20 sound effects within this 10 second you know frame of time or what have you. You wanna can you talk a little bit about maybe I guess how how different is the fitting experience today compared to maybe how it was when you first started, or the way that you got to see it through your lens over time, or you know, just your whole experience with that?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that's a great point, actually. Like just everything taking so much longer to make nowadays. Like sometimes if I go back and watch like old stuff, you know, for nostalgia, kind of like seeing like these old like Harrison pay-per-views that were maybe like 18 minutes, but you know, you had like eight different matches in there and just like the music in the background. I'm like, this is like when I really enjoyed music fets. Like music fets kind of became not as good to me when they became like hour-long shows. Like, I can't really sit through an hour-long music fet, but you know, these highlight type of shows I actually really enjoy. Also, um, that guy back in the day. Um, obviously his matches weren't like post-grade or anything, but the WAFF, you know, he pretty much started pick fetting almost. Like, I sometimes go back and you know, just like the old time songs and the vibe of the shows, it's kind of cool, yeah. And sometimes I wish we could maybe I mean, a lot of people are just basically doing like a similar thing nowadays. It would be cool if somebody took like a format like that, and you know, obviously you can improve it in some ways, like with you know, obviously better camera, better posing, but take like a concept like that and put out like pay-per-view highlights of maybe even with music in the background, doesn't have to have commentary, you know, just something different to watch. That would be kind of cool.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, along the lines of what you're saying, I feel like one of the reasons I didn't connect with music fed pick fed is because they were reliant on like they were doing the full match with music, but the things that they were inspired by, you know, those highlight clips of pay-per-views where they yeah chop up the match with the music? They should go more like that and like splice up the action rather than showing the whole match because that's just a lot more engaging and quicker. But yeah, like we were on a a real grind in those early 2020s. We were getting stuff out very quickly. I wanted to ask you, why do you think today it's so much harder and takes longer to get matches out in this day and age?

SPEAKER_04

Okay, so I feel like back in the day, like the 2020s, like it was easier to get viewers on your videos as well. So you could I could kind of say, like, okay, I can put in this time, and at least I'm gonna make some income back from it. But I think it it's just a theory, but like with you know, all these weird kind of matches that people do nowadays, like the the the multiverse type time matches, yeah, yeah, or like people fighting in a circle, like Mr. Beast style. Like, I feel like that has kind of like taken the click-through rate for WWE figure videos, and you know, because it's a lot of children watching this stuff, they're more likely to click on something that is like new and unique, right? And I think with that, like the original style matches, they kind of got buried in the algorithm a little bit. I mean that's just a theory.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I feel like there's a trade-off though, because I feel like those people might get a lot of views, but they don't get the satisfaction of the comment section, people like caring and being invested in what they do, it's just a lot of curiosity clicks. But yeah, I could see what you're saying. It sucks that you know a normal match doesn't get as many viewers as you know, gimmicky kind of things as well. But yeah, so you're saying that you could kind of put that output that you did back in the day if it was just more fruitful for you?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah. I think if I could justify putting in the time and then you know, still being able to live my life, sure, but yeah, um on especially like also with me, like I said, like I would like to feature like some characters that are maybe not as popular, like you know, like the big ones like Roman Reigns that everyone wants to see. Like, if you put I mean G-Man for a great example, right? Like, we made a pretty good story with him, but for the algorithm, it's not really like a character that people click on, unfortunately.

SPEAKER_03

So yeah, yeah, I think you've always done a really good job at that, though. You're I I feel like I don't know. I mean, of course, people make funny stuff about oh, the Kenny Omegas and like people that you've consistently booked, right? But I think you've always been really fresh. I think that's something about your Fed that I've always liked, is it seems like there's always something fresh going on, whether you bring in some crazy character or some you know, just really unique things. Um, like way back in the day, like you would book Ziggler, and you know, you would do these really fun things that I don't know, I've always thought that about your Fed. And even in like recent years, how you've had like celebrities or you've had these really fun customs and things like that. And uh so I've all I've always appreciated that. And you can always you can obviously tell that you know you're a big fan of of New Japan guys and you're always bringing in, you know, fresh faces and you know, and of course, as a filmer, it we can all kind of attest, like when you get a new character, especially like back in the day, you know, when with Mattel they put out Ricochet or they put out you know some brand new character, and you're like, oh my god, yes, now I can actually film with a guy that I've never gotten to film with or whatever is uh always a nice thing to kind of you know refresh it. It's like I feel like that happened a lot in the old school feds too, where you know, as soon as that figure came out, it's like everybody starts booking that guy because they want to.

SPEAKER_00

I feel like you did it with Umaga. Remember Umaga and GCW?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

That was probably one of those, eh?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, um, I think I even had the custom of him before the figure came out. I think I had that red attire of Umaga and later on replaced it with the Elite 40 or whatever it was, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, had him win the Royal Rumble and yeah, yes, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

How do you decide how do you decide like who goes in the Fed? Is it like the wrestlers that you like, the best wrestlers in the world today that you think the people that you can tell like the best stories with? Like, how do you decide who goes in the Fed?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I mean, a lot of the time it's like wrestlers that I enjoy watching. Like, for example, AJ Styles was a big guy in the Fed, like even before he went to WWE, and then you know, Kenny Omega was the next big guy. Um, and I I liked using them because you know people didn't see them in WWE, and a lot of the audience on YouTube is like a WWE audience, so you can kind of like make fresh matches that nobody has ever seen with these characters, and then obviously Osprey was I really loved Will Ospreay, the the New Japan run, and um, you know, Danny obviously made it even better, like with the voice that was just like and at first, actually, a funny story about that. Danny didn't want to do the Osprey voice, but he wanted to get one of Fiverr. I'm like, no, it's actually pretty good, and it became like a pretty iconic voice.

SPEAKER_00

Um, yeah, I'd say so.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And uh, as far as you know, custom characters in your Fed, you know, you got JTM, you've you used a lot of the FAW characters, you got G-Man as the world champion. You know, how do you feel about custom characters? And, you know, would you be open to making your own custom characters in the future?

SPEAKER_04

Um, I think I don't want to add more. Um, JTM is like a classic pick fet character, right? That has been in a lot of fets. So, you know, he I was inspired to use him by the fets that I watched back in the day. And then Danny obviously brought in G-Man. And I mean, he did great character work with that. I never thought at first, like when we brought in G-Man, that he would be world champion one day. Like, even the idea of doing that match with Osprey, I wasn't like completely sold on back in the day. But obviously that worked out pretty well.

SPEAKER_03

You were like Vince McMahon, you were like, I don't see it, and it's like just take a chance, bro. You know, yeah, that's funny.

SPEAKER_04

And the FAW characters I really like because they're unique characters, and we can actually do like FAW versus GCW stuff. Well, like if we did something like WSC versus GCW, which people a lot of the time ask, like we have a lot of the same characters, so that wouldn't really work out. So and and Danny again, like he's like one of my favorite fetters of all time for the you know short run that he had, but you know, he really put a lot of effort into building each and every single one of these characters, so yeah, yeah. That's why I really like using them.

SPEAKER_03

That's something that is always a big thing with the you know, the crossover stuff. Even you know, back in the day, people always want these invasion storylines, and I think there's a way you could do it, but it has to be really strategic, and it's probably you know, you have to you have to approach it the right way because, like you said, having a lot of the same characters, unless you did some sort of multiversal angle, maybe, you know, you could have the same character, especially if you know two feds book a character in two completely different ways and they end up somehow in the same playing field. But again, that's like that's not necessarily, you know, straightforward. It is like multiversal or whatever, but yeah, a lot of a lot of people use the same characters because they're the you know, they're popular, people love them, we love them, you know, things like that. Like a lot of a lot of feds have similar champions, even, you know. So I mean yeah, I think it's possible. I think you just have to you'd have to really hone in on the story and all that different stuff would have to make sense for you to cross over like that. But it's something a lot of people have talked about for years. And you know, the people used to do joint shows and stuff. They used to be really, really popular. They still do, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

They still do joint shows. Yeah. But you know, you know, as a full-time action figure fedder like me and you are, Luke, how do you feel about you know real life booking of wrestlers and real life perception being at play when you're booking an action figure fed? Like, for example, say you want to book someone who's like underutilized in WWE or AEW or something, you want to make them a main inventor, but maybe that hurts the views. How do you feel about that kind of those kind of issues and how it pertains to fedding?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I feel like I'm really bad at that. Like I often will prioritize like what I think would be good, but you know, then in turn, like it hurts views. Like, for example, another thing that Danny and I did was like the G1 climax, right? Which I thought was a cool idea. But you know, like people don't really it would probably have done a lot better if we just called it the king of the ring or something like that. Yeah, but you know, um we wanted to do that, so we just always kind of like shoot ourselves in the foot with that. Um but yeah, it's a compli that's like the most complicated thing, right? Like trying to make money while also you know trying to do your own vision, like it's yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you want to tell your own stories, you wanna, you know, do your own unique thing, but then that comes at a cost because you know the masses won't tune in to see that particular wrestler do that story or whatever, you know, they won't give it a chance, you know, unfortunately.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, and even like stuff, if you I don't know, let's say you have Paul Heyman with Brock Lesnar in your fed, and now if in WWE he goes to Roman Reigns, they're going to be like, Well, why is he with uh Brock Lesnar? Like, and it's like we have our own stories, but people don't really seem to understand that sometimes.

SPEAKER_00

And then, like, if you do try to make those people happy and do something like that, then people will jump on you like oh, you're copying WWE or something. It's like you can't please anybody, you know?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. I mean, it's even like with winners of matches, you're always like an idiot for having picked that winner. Like no matter who you pick, you're always the i idiot. Like, you know, if G-Man wins, like, oh, how could G-Man beat someone like Roman Reigns? And then if Roman Reigns beat G-Man, like, oh, all this stuff, and G-Man gets buried, you know? Like, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that's tough too, because then you'd you'd have to have like consistent. And that's even a thing. It's like, okay, well, you you built this person up. Well, they don't know that because they didn't watch the last three episodes, or they weren't around for the last three shows or whatever, where you built that character up, and then they just click that one video where they're beating Roman. It's like, oh, this is complete garbage. And then they're you know, burying your booking or whatever. Absolutely. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

And I mean, you can't really expect people to watch all of that stuff, too, right? To go back and watch an entire Fed. Like, there's already so much wrestling out there nowadays, so you can't really even blame them. But sometimes you would think, like, okay, you guys could maybe understand that we had like our own stories going on, and we're not completely stupid for doing things that we're doing them. But yeah, I mean, yeah. 100%.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Yeah. These days, you know, what do you think like the future direction of the Fed is at the moment? And what do you like enjoy doing? You do you like doing the full shows? Do you like doing the GCW live episodes? Are you going to continue with the pay-per-views?

SPEAKER_04

Um, yeah, I've been kind of thinking on what to do lately. Like, like I said, I really wanted to take that clip kind of thing, but you know, people are always commenting, like, oh, at least this match should be a full match or whatever, and then I kind of get like, okay, I'll make this a full match, and you know, obviously then you film a full match and it's going to take a long time. And maybe I just kind of have to stick to like the idea of trying to do the clips and like just stick to it for like a month or two and see how it goes. But I I really feel like I want to do something a little bit different because like filming like full matches over and over and over again uh is getting a little bit tiring for me. So yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Are you gonna bring back the episodes or do you want to keep it at like clip kind of matches?

SPEAKER_04

Um I would like to keep it at as clips for a while. I mean, I guess you could kind of edit like all the clips together and like release it again as like a show. I think WWE does that on their YouTube channel as well, right? Where they release like the full raw highlights or something like that. Yeah. So, you know, after you're done posting like all the clips from a show, you could release it as like a full highlight kind of show, I guess. Um, that would be maybe something that I could try.

SPEAKER_03

It's it's crazy because I talk to Nate about this all the time, but in this world, as you know, everything is just so tedious, and I think feding really makes it tedious, right? So, you know, when you take this figure down and you're trying to get it set up and you're, you know, do even if you're it doesn't matter if you're doing a review, if you're doing a custom, if you're whatever it is when it attains to action figures in general, especially when it comes to feding, it's just everything is so tedious and it's a grind, especially when you're putting together a full show and you're setting up the arena, and people think that oh, you just stand some figures up, but I know you know when you set up a full arena, that's like a that's a long, it takes a long time to set up the background or maybe create a background, and then I gotta set these figures up, and you know, as well as I do all your pinky grays that one, and then they all fall over, and you have to reset it, and then you want some of them holding signs, and you want some of them to wear hats, and like all these little things, they just kind of like you know, they turn a mountain or you know, they make a mountain out of a molehill, right? And so it's just very, very tedious. And so I don't think people I don't know if people truly appreciate the amount of work and the amount of tediousness that goes into creating these things that they see the final production of.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I definitely okay, go ahead.

SPEAKER_00

Oh no, no, you tell us your experience, you know, in making all these arenas. You are one of the guys who really gets the production side of things. I think you in the action figure fetting space have really been one of the pioneers of like the great production in action figure fed. So tell us a little bit about you know the whole process of you know making the arenas and organizing everything that goes into these productions.

SPEAKER_04

I feel like I'm always like kind of unsatisfied if I look at stuff. Like often I will switch around, like I will do like something like in a VitFed style, and then I'm like kind of unsatisfied, like that it kind of limits me in some ways. Then I'll go to back to pick fetting, and I'm kind of like screwing around with the lighting in the arena. I want it to look a little bit different, and I mean it is really if you're in it, it's like uh life-consuming things, and a lot of the time, like when you're actually like working on that, I don't know how it's for you guys, like it consumes like pretty much your entire day, not just by doing the work itself, but you keep thinking about stuff, and then the energy, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

It takes a lot of energy out of you, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Tell us a little bit about you know the filming style of the years and the evolution, and where are you at right now? Like, what kind of filming style do you like? Do you like the pick fed? Do you like the vid fed? Do you like a bit of a mix? Like, what is your preferred style in 2026?

SPEAKER_04

Um, I mean, obviously, I just started out with PicFed, and then you brought the vidfed style. And you know, a lot of people at first were always like kind of against it, but I I like saw like it can look really good for certain things, so I wanted to try it out as well. And now it's kind of you know, honestly, it changes by the day. Like sometimes I will look at vidfets and I'm like, oh yeah, this I actually prefer this to pick fetting, but then on other days I'll be like, Oh, I also like you know the figures, like you know, when you, for example, look at Danny's fed or whatever, like the really cool poses and stuff, like that also has a really cool thing about it, and often I just can't really decide which way I want to go.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and talk about like you know, the camera angles and things you decide to do, like you just try to experiment with things, see things that you like, or does it just come to you?

SPEAKER_04

Um, yeah, I mean I pretty much enjoyed for a while to kind of film like from the floor, like New Japan does. I think that looked uh pretty good, but I feel like sometimes it makes it a little bit harder to follow uh compared to like if you just film like from a little bit above. I think it's like easier on the ice, I feel like. Um yeah, I mean, I'm not really set on any specific style right now, so yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I think you know, this whole process, it's always like evolving, you're always learning, you're always trying new things. So yeah, you're never really set on one way, you're always just you know trying different things and trying to see what works.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that's the I I think it's like a uh going back to how he he said how it consumes your whole day. I think that kind of goes hand in hand with that too, because when you're filming it, you're like second guessing everything that you're doing while in the moment. So you're like, oh, this is perfect, but you're like, is that perfect? Like, what if he did this? It's like, well, I can't I can't spend too much time on this because I gotta get this out. But at the same, and you're kind of experimenting, thinking about it 24-7, you know, all these different things all in one. And that goes back to the tediousness of it because, like you said, it kind of encompasses your whole. I mean, I know I guarantee you, y'all, you both have also done this where you're laying in bed and you think of a random thing you want to do, or a random idea, or a random spot, or a random story, or a random, you know, thing that would be like, oh, that'd be so sick. And you're in bed, like trying to go to sleep or whatever, and you may you may jot it down, you may not, but that's uh it's just I think like the whole idea of feding and everything like that is just so I don't even know. There's nothing like it almost because you're you control everything and you can create like your whole vision, like you can control everything from the lighting to the booking to the arena, but at the same time, it's so tedious because you do control everything, so you have to make that happen.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, and what you just said, like you know, the second guessing of everything. I think there is a term for that, like decision-making fatigue, right? It's kind of like a um known thing, and I don't know, like at certain days, like I would be like really mentally burned out to the point where I feel like I can't even think anymore at times. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's like analysis paralysis, yeah, yeah. And then yeah, I'll go on YouTube, like watch like some other fetters. I'm like, oh, does this look better? Does this look better? And you'll be constantly analyzing, and often you don't really come to a conclusion at the end, anyway. Yeah, 100%.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's interesting when you like when you're a creator and you're watching other feds, you're kind of like analyzing it like the whole time. It's interesting, yeah. Yeah, yeah. But um, you know, one of the biggest parts of your history, like uh a big part, someone who's helped a lot, you know, Danny, Danny Meltzer, Danny Gavan, you know, he came in in 2021 and you guys worked on a lot of you know storylines, creative. He was on commentary for your show for some time. Tell us a little bit about you know the whole situation of him leaving and what that means for the future of GCW.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, so Danny coming in was great back in the day because obviously his commentary is great, but he also like really we started talking about stuff like stories and what to do, and you know, obviously he's able to do all these voices. Um, and back in the day, Danny had a little bit more free time than he has now, and I think we kind of got ourselves in a little bit of a predicament there because you know, we build all these characters up that need him, but you know, like the stuff doesn't really make enough money for both of us to live of it. So, like, what really um could the solution have been here? Like, it's not his fault, it's not my fault, really. It just um, you know, it's understandable. Danny has to provide for his own life as well, so him not being able to do stuff for free, totally understandable. But also, like, if a video, like let's say a match, makes $50 in ad revenue, I can't pay him like $80 for commentary, plus like all the hours I've put in, right? So, yeah, it was kind of like a bad situation to be in, like relying on him for so many things, but I mean, there's no hard feelings at all. Like, I think we both understand each other's points of view really well, and you know, we still work together on the eBay shop and everything, and I mean we're planning out some little things that we'll probably release in the future as well, so it's not completely over um with his involvement in GCW, let's put it like that.

SPEAKER_00

Nice, yeah. Talk about um, talk about like some of the the fun booking, you know, because I remember you guys getting on calls and you know, cooking up stuff together. Talk about like some of the fun times you guys had like with the creative of it all.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I mean, we had so much fun like with Osprey. Um, you know, a lot of the time, a lot of the time we also came up with like, you know, these stupid things like that people like wanted to cancel us for, like, you know, all these weird characters like Trump, and you know, like we did that one thing where we put like the Nacho in like a cage in the skybox and stuff like that. And um, you know, it wasn't really I mean, Danny is obviously like Mexican as well, so um, you know, I I figured it was alright. And I mean, some people get upset. I don't think a lot of people really got upset about it. It's just always like, you know, you see the few that get upset. But yeah, I mean we had so much fun, like just you know, being on calls, Danny would do all the voices, and then you know, I would come up with an idea, and he would like we would start writing the script, and yeah, it was it was great times, great times, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, with uh with that whole situation, do you think you're gonna rely more on like AI now, or are you gonna use like are you gonna do like no promos from now on, or are you gonna get Danny to occasionally do some promos? You know, for the characters like Osprey and you know G-Man and things like that?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I think for characters like Osprey and G-Man, like obviously we gotta keep Danny. Um, and especially like if I do clips, like just you know, get them, get the important points across. Like, I think Danny and I should be able to figure something out to keep that going. And I mean, for the AI voices, I think sometimes they're really not that bad. Like, no, um, I would I was pretty satisfied with also the ones that I gave to you for the Gunther and Moxley thing. I think they turned out pretty good.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I think so too.

SPEAKER_04

So I think you can definitely work with them, and especially for characters that didn't have a prior voice in GCW, like AI is definitely fine. Like, I know a lot of people hate it because of all the slop that is out there and stuff like that, but I think it can be a useful tool at times, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. Speaking of AI, a lot of people are confused about your new commentator, they think he's AI. What do you have to say about that? And what is the the future of this new commentator? Is he does he have a permanent position? Is he getting a figure? What's gonna happen with that?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, the figure part is actually interesting. I didn't even think about that yet, but he's definitely not AI, he's a real person. Um, I don't know if you guys watched through the commentators that applied. Um, I personally thought um, I personally thought he was the best. I mean, there was like a little bit of a thing with like one guy, you know, trying to kind of manipulate the voting, and then I don't know, there were like a lot of accounts that commented like kind of for him, but I think you know, I was told like some people sent me stuff that you know it was actually like the same few people with a bunch of different accounts.

SPEAKER_03

Um so that's why those people, that's why those people were like, why didn't you choose this guy?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah. And I mean, I don't know like what you guys thought. Like, I didn't, I mean, he wasn't bad, but I feel like he sounded like a teenager, he didn't sound like a grown man.

SPEAKER_00

And yeah, yeah, I I would have picked his name's Bryce Van Pelt, right? I would have picked him too, so yeah, I think he was the best out of him, and yeah, it sucks that people would like gang up in the comment section to just get their buddy, you know, hired for the show.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah. I at least the bo at least the boys are rolling with him, I guess. Like they can't say that they didn't try or they didn't have his back. But yeah, that's kind of it's kind of funny how I feel like the fetting community, whether that you're a fan or people that make it themselves, I'm sure you've experienced this as you mentioned, you know, people getting upset about different stuff, but the community itself has always been kind of passionate, you know, whether it's like sticking hardcore to the way things were or a specific style or burying new things, like they don't like new things that come out, especially I remember when I started adding in different things, you know, way back in the day, people did not like it. People were very pissed off, and you know, they don't like things changing. And I don't know, I guess that just speaks to kind of the passion behind it. Like the fans, I don't know, it's almost like tribalistic in a way, kind of.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, and then like if you get a lot of that, you kind of start doubting yourself, like is this actually bad, or you know, but I feel like it's important that we like advance stuff, you know, like not just everything staying the same. But yeah, it makes you second guess yourself, like if there's a lot of people like saying the same thing, like does this actually suck or not? It's kind of hard to figure out, you know, the balance there to listen to people, but also not to listen too much, if that makes sense.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah, 100%. I remember, I mean, I'm sure you remember, like, especially when my fed first started, the posing was the worst thing you've ever seen, right? But you know, there's a learning curve, you're trying to learn the the skill, you're trying to, you know, figure it out. And I feel like I got it, I I started to figure it out, you know, as time went on. But I remember, you know, people would, you know, they just make fun of you or they they pick on like certain things. And if one person doesn't like it, then all their buddies gang you on, like the way you pose a specific thing, or you know, the way you booked something, or you know, whatever the case is.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I mean, for me, that was all always the problem when I was like more active on Instagram. This is usually where like that kind of stuff went down. So I kind of like I don't spend really any time on Instagram like watching like what people say, and the YouTube comment section usually is not like that. Um, I mean, there's always a few negative people, but it's it was not like like Instagram. And for me, I just kind of noticed after a while, like it doesn't really help me in any way to listen to that or engage like with these people that just you know really want to you know talk badly about everything. Um, and you know, like if you really engage with it, like it'll you'll also start thinking about it during the day, and it will take away from your focus on what you actually want to do, right? So I kind of eliminated that by just not being on Instagram much.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, 100%.

SPEAKER_03

It's it's also um I forgot my point, but you're you're basically like it doesn't matter what you do anyway, I don't think those you can't win those people over anyways, right? Like I like engaging with it, trying to challenge it anyway. It's not really there's it's a losing battle, right? I mean you're like pushing uphill. There's nothing, there's nothing you could say that's gonna change, so why even why even try kind of deal.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, and then if you like set something back or something, you know, it would get even worse. So better not to engage with it at all. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So is that something you've dealt with for a long time or like all the way back in the the music fed days?

SPEAKER_04

I think it pretty much started when like for a while there, I think my Fed was pretty much the most watched, like for a brief period. And you know, that's when I also started at adding like little things like a green screen. People hated that, and you know, just doing like entrances sometimes, like with entrance music, and you know, just really little things that weren't like really that big of a deal, but that's I feel like when it started off, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

That's so crazy, like trying to push push things further and trying to do things better, and everyone else just wants to pull you back down, and like that's ridiculous.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I remember back when I started, uh it was either right when I first started or shortly after. I remember you commenting on a couple of my things and you know, praising the production or praising the graphics or praising something like that. And I always appreciated, you know, when you would, you know, kind of give me the rub and things like that, and that kind of like let me know, like, okay, I must be like trending in the right direction if if he's enjoying this, because I think like Nate said, you know, you obviously inspired a a whole ton of people to start, and you you know, you've provided a very consistent fed for over a decade, which is just insane, like especially with the amount of shows, the amount of booking, the amount of matches you put out, things like that. So and I don't know, again, like with the customs and all the different characters and the different things that you've done over the years, I think that you know, it's deserved. Like you've you've done well for yourself.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I I always got excited when I saw like people do new stuff, like when you first came around, or you know, when Nate started doing the Vit Fed, I'm like, oh, this is stuff that I never thought about that can actually work. So, you know, I never really understood that people got upset about trying new stuff. Like for me, it was exciting.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it's weird, like they get tribalistic about it, and they just you know, it's just kind of like uh I feel like a lot of people would relate it. It's similar to how you know, like a boomer or somebody where they're just really setting their ways, and it's like, you know, you're kind of I guess you're messing with the craft that they love, but I I don't like I don't know. Like I think all of us are trying to think of what's the best viewing experience? What's the best like medium of creating this? Okay, yeah, this is great, but how can it be improved, if any? And then you experiment with that, and that's kind of how you end up to where we are today.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, and it doesn't mean that they have to do the same thing, right? If they enjoy doing things the way they do, I mean that that's great. Like I would, like I said, I would like to watch like a pick fed that was is like like Harrison was back in the day, like an 18-minute fed, like eight matches, like music in the background. I think nowadays I would actually watch that, but I I don't really think it exists much anymore, right? Like it's either like these really, really long shows uh with music or actually people doing uh full matches with commentary now. Like these old style pick fets, I don't really think they exist anymore.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, what do you think about like the current landscape of you know action figure content and you know action figure fetting?

SPEAKER_04

I mean, a lot of it has become that multiverse type of stuff, right? Or you know, people just figuring out like something that that works and then doing it over and over again, like you know, like battle royals or something like that, and or like matches and different, you know, like super clickable stuff, yeah. Yeah, or even like um you know hell in a cell type of matches with just two popular characters and just doing it for no reason, like with no still.

SPEAKER_00

I hate that kind of stuff. The the particular hell in a cell thing was like everyone's going through the top all the time. I just hate it because it kind of ruins someone else doing a hell in a cell match, and now it's like they these people who watch these videos have some a certain expectation, and you know it's I don't know, it just bugs me.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, and now it's like less spectral if you actually do it, but you know, you're doing like a long, long build-up and everything, how it should be. And you know, other people just kind of put two popular characters hell in a cell match. Let's do it.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Yeah, that's like a that's like a that's uh I don't know, that's so tough because like you said, especially if you've you know you've done the payoff, like you've done the you know, it's kind of like real WWE. Like, you know, if they came out, if they came out and said, Oh, it's Roman Reigns and CM Punk and a Hell in a Cell, or Roman Reigns and whoever, you can pick whoever you want, really, I guess a popular superstar, and you said, All right, hell in a cell, well, like, yeah, it would be entertaining and fun, but it's 20 times more fun when you've had a long story that's been written and built up, and you know, you have investment from the audience. I think that's when it truly pays off. But the YouTube algorithm don't give a shit about that, son. No, no.

SPEAKER_04

And I mean, it's also somewhat understandable, like if people they actually go in there and they want to make money, like building up a story long term is maybe not going to do as well as just picking two characters and throwing them inside hell in a cell.

SPEAKER_00

So you can't even be like really mad at the people doing it because you know, and even like back in the day, I would do some dumb stuff. Like I had Hell in a Cell matches where like the fiend's head popped off or something of people going through the top. Back then, I was just like a dumb kid, to be honest. Like, I didn't know any better, right? So maybe that's the case for some of these people, but yeah, it does, it does kind of maybe it does hurt other creators, maybe it doesn't, but yeah, it's something that irks me, I think.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I think it definitely hurts other creators, but I mean, this is just how it is, right? Like business can't do anything about it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, what do you think how how do you think like we get you know the normal wrestling, like if you want a GCW MDT type, you know, show, how do you get that like how do you get the most interest on that rather than some of these, you know, big clickable ideas? You think there's a way to do that?

SPEAKER_04

Well, I always try to do it like back in the day to for example, if I do an episode, I put like a clickable main event in there, um, and then have the rest of it like be story development or something like that, even like for the pay-per-views, right? Like sometimes I would put like two matches in a part, and you know, one that I would know wouldn't be doing that well by itself, like if it was the thumbnail and title, pair it with like one that you know you know will do better. But nowadays I feel like it's even hard to find any like matches that are going to be super clickable, like you know, I did, for example, like uh Bloodline and Blackpool Combat Club in a cage, and even that didn't do well, and I feel like two years ago that would have like exploded. So yeah, it becomes harder than that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, maybe it's because they were AEW guys, potentially. I thought that did pretty well for your channel, did it not? That particular one, like like I thought that was the most viewed on your your mania, right?

SPEAKER_04

Oh, that was uh that was uh the mania match. Yeah, I did like another one in a cave. I think there was like a significant drop-off, like sometime after or maybe even like in the middle of mania. I don't know. Like, I also saw that there were things that changed in the YouTube algorithm that had like a lot of people affected, and I really felt that too, that like one day, like all of the sudden, like views were down a lot, and then it kind of continued there. I watched a bunch of videos on it, what it could be.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it was kind of like like middle to end of last year, I felt. Did you was that around at the same time?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that that that could be, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, it was weird.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, they're constantly changing, you know, algorithms and stuff like that. Like the it's like the best thing you can do is just to stick to your consistency, like you know, just rely on that. And that's real, I mean, honestly, that's all you can really do, right? Besides, you know, you know, being creative, doing the same things you've done while also evolving at the same time, kind of. You know, it's kind of that YouTube that YouTube mindset, right? You guys know what I'm talking about, where you're you know, it's a grind, it's a constant grind, but you also you have to change some things, develop some things as years go on. I mean, we've all been at it for, I think all three of us are almost at 10 years running, just about, you know, or longer in your case. So it's just one of those. I mean, I would say I think there's obviously way more creators than ever in the current day. There's more videos than ever being uploaded. Everybody's trying to get something out there, change something up. So I think it makes those, you know, ground, you know, those ground root style, you know, guys locking up and having a traditional wrestling match. It's like, you know, it kid it like instantly kills somebody's dopamine hit, and they don't they don't want to, you know, I mean it kind of speaks to society, right? Yeah, it's like uh there's no long-term, you know, uh satisfaction, there's no investment. It's I want my dopamine hit, I want the guy to go through the case right now, I don't want the payoff, I don't want to wait, I don't want to see, you know, this. I'm I'm I want the instant match, the instant click. There's no I don't know, it just kind of speaks to society as a whole. I think I think it kind of just goes all hand in hand. I think the content is like a reflection of that almost. Like you get a lot more brain right, you get a lot more edits flash, stuff like that, if that makes sense. Yeah, I totally agree with that. Yeah. Nate, what do you think?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think yeah, it's it's a tough balance, you know. Maybe, maybe we are just like too mature for our own good, you know, trying to like do, you know, kind of normal wrestling and things like that, you know, but maybe you should be doing all these wacky things or whatever if you want to optimize, you know, your money or whatever. But yeah, we just we all love you know this craft and we want to tell great stories and do great content that we are passionate about. So yeah, we stick to our guns for sure.

SPEAKER_03

I think that's like a thing too, where as a creator, it's like, okay, well, I can sit here and bitch about it or I can do something about it, you know, like sitting here and complaining about it isn't gonna help anything. I either, okay, you can just give up, or you can like, okay, pull yourself up by the bootstraps and let's let's go to work, let's like figure something out, you know. So I think that also speaks to it too. Like, evolution is constantly happening, not just in this area, but everywhere. It's like, okay, am I gonna just wither away or am I gonna do something about it? Am I gonna change something, whatever the case is?

SPEAKER_00

So, and I know like to be fair, like uh you could kind of blame me a little bit of like you know, the multiverse and you know the the hardcore stuff, but I try to you know bring some balance to everything and balance everything out and do everything with passion and you know tell stories within all that, so yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I mean for you, everything is also like very well done, like a lot of the time, like these just clickbait type of things, they're not even like well posed, or there's really no story to anything. Um, yeah, yeah, so so you're totally different in that regard.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I was gonna say too, like, um kind of like uh I relate this to a lot to WWE too, honestly. This this goes hand in hand with that compared to maybe AEW or somewhere else that does better wrestling, kind of. So you'd have uh like it it can relate back to my fib when it first started. It's like, okay, everybody likes this or whatever, but the posing's shitty, the matches aren't that great, whatever, but it's you're throwing so much flash that it's like look at that flash, don't pay attention to this shitty story, this shitty posing, this, this, this. Focus on those entrances, focus on the flashing lights and the jingling keys, and you don't, and a lot of the audience, they just see the jingling keys, they don't look past it and see that. I don't think that's how your your matches or your feds have been. So that's that's completely different. I think it's one thing to just jingle keys in front of the audience, but it's a whole different one to actually have substance to your thing while adding production value at the same time. I think that's kind of the difference.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, along those lines, you know, you've done so many pay-per-views, full-length shows, faction figures. Out of all those, do you have a certain pay-per-view that is your favorite that stands out the most?

SPEAKER_04

That's a good question. Um like I feel like sometimes they've gone kind of too long. Um I feel like for an action figure pay-per-view, I I would have liked to like to have done like more like shorter ones where you can like sit down for an hour, have like a bunch of fun matches, and yeah, I get that because not a lot of people have time to just sit down in one go and watch the whole thing.

SPEAKER_00

So I guess people would like come back to it, they would watch a match or two and then come back to it and watch it throughout the week, potentially.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah. And you know, I had shows like that, like uh Money in the Bank from like I don't know, I I don't even remember the year, but the one where G-Man debuted. Um yeah, we were on that show, right? Yeah, it's Ziegler and Corbin, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, don't match. But that was one of your favorites, or are you just talking about the time, the length of it?

SPEAKER_04

Um I think it really depends on what kind of mood I'm in. Um, what my favorite would be. But yeah, I I would have preferred to do more like one-hour type of shows and um yeah, I I tried that also with uh the latest Money in the Bank that I've done. Um but I don't know with the new style and everything, it felt like impossible to get it done in an in an hour, so it ended up being one and a half hours. And I released that as a full show. I feel like back in the day that would have done way better too than it did like nowadays. Like even releasing a full show with nobody having seen the matches previously, like in parts, right? It it didn't really do that well anymore. Like, and the full shows were always like consistent like view gainers for a long time, like you could have them up and they would like consistently gain views, but that also got kind of changed in the last one and a half years or whatever, where they just kind of completely fall off, too. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So you don't have a favorite out of all of those? No, one that sticks out for the matches potentially on the show, the stories, the the production of the show, or something that like brings you a lot of joy, like when you think back on it, maybe or even yeah, time period, you know.

SPEAKER_04

I think I really liked um the the elimination chamber show that we did because it also had like these like comedy segments in between and then like fun matches. Um, you know, that was like the first time I used, or I think the only time I used that custom elimination chamber. So so that was kind of special. I mean WrestleMania uh 11 was also very special because like all of our big feuds kind of ended there, like with the two three-way matches and G-Man like finally winning the title, and then you know, the swerve at the end with Roman getting the title. Um yeah, I would say like after WrestleMania 11, like my passion probably fell off a little bit for it because you know that's kind of like Danny and I had put like everything we had into like building that up and doing that show. And I mean it did alright, but I felt like we were never able to get to that next level of like having more people watch the stuff, if that makes sense. So, but yeah, as a show itself, I I really enjoyed WrestleMania 11.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. Do you do you think that you know that whole thing you wanted to grow everything after WrestleMania 11? What do you think that like attributes to? Is it just like an algorithm thing? Is there anything you would have changed like about the content?

SPEAKER_04

I mean, after it, I think at that point it wasn't necessarily like an algorithm thing yet, but um it was kind of like you know, like realizing okay, we're really like kind of limited because you know, I mean, the the for example the two main events like the three-way matches, they had like Bane and JTM in there. And while it was like really well built, you know, like we talked about, like it does just doesn't appeal to like a big audience that much. And you know, it just kind of coming to the realization that if we like continue doing things the way we enjoy, like we're not really going to grow out of here, and I mean the goal ultimately would have been to you know that maybe Danny and I could like both live of it, but you know, we just kind of realize it's not it's not gonna work. So that's when the passion fell off a little bit.

SPEAKER_00

Hmm. Do you think like creatively without Danny, like, do you have some ideas of stuff that you want to do? Maybe like that's not with you know, custom characters. Did do the custom characters does that spark your motivation, or is it just more about the stories?

SPEAKER_04

Um I don't know. I really like you know having these like really long-term stories, like you know, Rollins and JTM, you know, they had like such a long story, like of teaming up back in like even 2016 or something like that, and then JTM going through like a tough phase, coming back as the disciple, and you know, it's like mainly using characters that that already have like a very long story, I get excited about. I mean, I I'm always open to finding new things to and new ways to do things, like maybe with more popular characters, but I get more excited by like the unique stuff, yeah, rather than like having two guys that already fought in WWE and do a feud with that, even if it's unique. I I don't really get too excited about it.

SPEAKER_00

Is it because you don't like WWE and AEW or the characters that are there, or is it more just like you know, doing things with characters that haven't been, you know, explored or aren't at the top of the industry?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I think I think it just like I don't know, I wouldn't really get excited right now, for example, to do Roman Reigns and CM Punk. Like it just I would like prefer like to see like Roman Reigns versus a guy like I've never seen. Like, you know, I did in the GCW Cup him versus Mystico, that kind of got me excited. This is unique, this is not gonna happen. So yeah, that's that kind of excites me more. How did people feel about the result of that one? I don't think they they really complained too much about that result because they were still mad about the commentary. That was the main complaint on that one.

SPEAKER_00

So yeah, that's funny. Do you think people just like adjust to the commentator? Is he gonna be a little bit more part of the show like Danny was?

SPEAKER_04

Um, I mean, we haven't really talked about it much yet. Um, because you know, I also do other stuff, so I I'm like not like full-time just fed, obviously. I feel like I've I've said that in a video also lately on the channel. So yeah, it's just about finding time to plan things out. Um for now, I I just kind of want to get through the tournament and yeah, then I would I definitely wouldn't mind if he became like a character as well on the show, but yeah, also like I said, like Danny and I are still trying to plan out some other things as well that we can hopefully do.

SPEAKER_03

So could you uh have you thought about you know, like in this niche or in this community, I feel like even if you have a long-term fan base or whatever, I feel like you have to you have to stay consistent or the algorithm will absolutely nerf uh they will nerf you. They will nerf you if you if you you know take you know a long hiatus or you're not consistently posting. And it's probably not just this niche. I feel like that's just YouTube in general. Like YouTube rewards people that post. That's just the way it is. It's kind of like that on every platform now. But you know, have you thought about any other content that you could possibly do in between, like you used to back in the day, or anything that could be Fed related that would bridge the gap between that wouldn't take maybe as long of hours, or things that you could put up that in the meantime to bridge the gap between your real Fed stuff, or yeah, because I remember in 2020 you were like doing a lot of that stuff.

SPEAKER_00

I I really enjoyed that kind of content from you.

SPEAKER_04

Like, for example, like what kind of video?

SPEAKER_00

Like uh doing like the whole roster reveals and things, you know, showing off like some custom things for the arena, talking about like the Fed and things like that, giving updates, those kinds of things.

SPEAKER_03

I feel like you could do tutorials or something too, man. Like you could you there's a lot because I think the those take time too. Yeah, they do, they do, but I'm saying, you know, it could it could be like little minute things, you know, whether it'd be tips and tricks or you know, things that you do. Like I really enjoyed your how to film stuff that you've done in the past. I've enjoyed little I mean, you've been making content for years, so I've followed you for years, obviously, and we've we you know I I would consider you consider you a friend in this space. And so I like I really liked the the news you used to do like almost 10 years ago. I enjoyed all that stuff. I think that you could do more than vetting in the space. And I know obviously, you know, your your habits have changed. You're not really a collector, you may not be as in the loop, but have you thought about maybe trying To find somewhere where you could create extra content for your channel just again to bridge that gap that wouldn't take as much effort or as much time.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I've thought about it, but I can't really think of anything that I personally find exciting. So I don't know. Like if I came back and talked about figures, I don't know, like like for example, the new figures coming out. I'm not sure how like many people would be interested in watching that. Um and I mean yeah, I mean, do you guys have like any suggestions like what you would like to see? Like I mean, the tutorials, yeah, I think they were pretty alright. Um, I think I did two of them, but I think the second one also didn't do that well anymore. So it's all just about finding something that people actually want to watch too, right? Not just content for the sake of content.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's hard in this space, like the high production, you know, action figure matches, the things that take like a ton of time, those are the things that are gonna get you, you know, the most views. It's really hard to think of like content to do in this space. Like I remember when I was first starting, I the default thing is reviews. It's so hard to find something unique and find something new to do. So yeah, I can see your point there. It's very tricky.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, 100%. There's also like something like, for example, you could you could do like a hand fat match, right? But then people are also gonna complain like about being lazy because they're used to these these other things.

SPEAKER_00

So yeah, I feel like I did experiment with that like last year, bringing those back. I feel like you know, they're not people aren't as receptive to those anymore, especially at this time for some reason. People like the you know, figure four action. I don't know, I don't know if you've seen him, but he's like modified the figures. They like that kind of stuff, and obviously, I don't know if that would perform in long form, but obviously it's right in your face, it's on TikTok, it's on Instagram, people see it and they they get hooked on that. But yeah, long form-wise, I don't think you know, hand fed you know works in this day and age for some reason, and like it confuses people too. They're like, well, like, oh, don't do all your rumbles hand fed. Why is it hand fed? Like they don't understand, you know.

SPEAKER_03

So yeah, it's that makes no sense to me though. Like, I feel like people you should be able to realize that you know, like they don't. Some people don't know like the feding stuff is obviously its own thing, and then you upload this this separate thing that is a little less effort that it is able to get you a video out that's still entertaining, that still engages the audience, but it's not I I call it like it's non-canon, like it's a non-canon match, it has no effect on the on the landscape of your Fed. It doesn't, this isn't, you know, like Roman Reigns losing here doesn't mean he's no longer champion, whatever. It's it's it's completely different thing.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, like I do the hand fed prediction Royal Rumbles for WWE every year, and these past like three years, like people have been very confused in the comment section. They think it's like a WSC Royal Rumble or something, and then they get like pissed off about like the fact that it's a hand fed, and maybe that like affects your videos on the channel. Maybe they think, oh, if I tune into a video, it's gonna be hand fed or something. So yeah, it's weird how people get confused on that, and you know, yeah, it's unfortunate that you know is not as receptive today as it used to be.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, 100%. I feel you're talking about like the hero style matches or yeah, yeah, yeah, pretty much. Not one shot. Yeah, a hundred percent. It's uh it's just I don't know. There's so many little ins and outs here, but uh Luke, going back to the suggestions thing, I think that I mean, why couldn't you you could be like the pick fed tips guy? Like you could go really hone in on I mean you have more experience than all of us. You know, you like you were you were around before all that. I mean, you could even go.

SPEAKER_00

You could make history videos.

SPEAKER_03

I was gonna say you could do the history.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, that may be a little bit more niche or boring compared to other things, but history videos have done well in the past, like every Royal Rumble winner and things like that. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Well, that yes, well, I was gonna say you could do like character analysis of of your characters, so you could do the complete history of Roman Reigns and GCW, and it's just like a complete recap of everything. And yeah, maybe maybe it wouldn't do as good, but maybe over time it could do well. You have you know longtime fans of the Fed maybe into that, or you know, you could go into you know, just different parts of your arena, like how you set your crowd up, or you know, budget. You could do it like here's a $20 budget crowd versus a hundred dollar budget crowd, or whatever the case, you know, just thinking outside the box.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, like the whole like how do you set up your arena and stuff, but is there like a certain amount of use that it's like for you, like oh, it's not worth doing if it gets this amount, or is it just about like what excites you?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it's like really about like if I feel like the video doing it like was worth it and not just something to fill in, you know, like a content spot, basically. I want to say like also that like these history videos, like if you actually do them, they end up taking a long time because you gotta like get all these like videos from the past, like that is true. That is that is true. So that becomes like a whole new project in and of itself, and then if you're also dealing with you know the filming on the side and the editing of that, it just becomes like really overwhelming. I I tried that before, and it's like a task, like you know, getting all the first of all, finding like because I don't remember everything from the top of my head, so you gotta okay, what match did Roman Reigns have there, there, then you gotta download it, gotta cut it together. It's basically like a day's effort already.

SPEAKER_00

I I recently did like a preview of my WrestleMania, and you have to splice in all sorts of footage for that, and yeah, it takes way longer than anyone would expect.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it's it's kind of a pain. It it is funny when you say that because when you're you know, you may you may even forget an element of your story kind of, not necessarily an element, but maybe you missed this little Easter egg or you missed this little, you know, like you're watching it back and you're like, oh damn, I forgot I did that. Like, oh damn, forgot I, you know, this little piece of nugget right here. So yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, so so it's so so to wrap it up, it's kind of like you kind of think like, okay, this would be a little bit easier than actually feding, but then you add that workload on top of the fetting, and you're just like even more overwhelmed. And then I kind of feel like maybe I should not be doing that extra stuff at all.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's true. Yeah. I would love to see like a little, you know, because you did this back in the day, I think you could make an update to it, but like how to make an action figure arena and stuff, and like show like crowd and the lights and all the production things. I think that'd be a really cool idea for you.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah, even though the arena now is like not really all that big anymore, it used to be a lot bigger, but I mean, I still think yeah, that's definitely something I could do for sure.

SPEAKER_00

Speaking about arenas, what was your favorite GCW arena? Because you've had a lot of different looks over the years. For me personally, I really love that like on the floor 2022 arena that you had. What about you? What do you think?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I really like that. Or I did then move it on the table, but it was basically in the same spot. So um, you know, it made it easier to film, like it didn't hurt as much. Um, I mean, at first it did a little getting used to it, but um, yeah, like especially when I had like all the custom stages, like with like a lot of custom elements for every show. I mean, you know, that's something that I would like to see WWE do in real life, you know, bring back like these creative stage setups, but again, yeah, some of those like the castle stage that you had, the Armageddon stage, really cool stuff. Yeah, but again, like it always becomes a problem because now you're putting like in all this extra effort and time, but you still gotta pay the bills, and and you just keep adding more and more work, and it often doesn't really um, I don't know, like the extra effort that you put in often doesn't really show its effect in the results of like what you get out of it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's interesting. Like you try to push things forward, you try to improve, you try to add all these elements, but then it just adds time onto the production. Yeah, and you know, maybe at the end of the day, like maybe it doesn't help the bottom line and like in terms of getting content out and you know making money and things like that.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah, it it's a hard thing to balance, right? Because I mean, I would really love to like have like a great looking stage for every show, and but you know, you you then start to stress stress like, oh, like this is taking all this time, I'm not getting any filming even done yet. You know, I'm just working on the stage itself. Yeah, I mean, for for the fetting, like I feel like really what we all need would be like a team to work on, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

But we've all discussed this for years, man. And it's it's like a feedback loop where okay, I let's say I had a team of five people, you would end up micromanaging everything anyway, and it would be like, you know, first of all, you'd have to pay them all in some way, which isn't feasible. Also, they probably wouldn't do it exactly how you're envisioning it because you're the director, you're the writer, you're the filmer, you're the booker, you're the customizer, you're the you know what I mean, and you have all you have 150 different roles, and so that's why I say that it goes back to being so tedious, you know? It's just so tedious.

SPEAKER_00

It's just I'm the very biggest micromanager of like I work with a lot of people in the community, and I'm always like pushing them to try and like do their best work and stuff. A quick update with WSC WrestleMania. I'm like we were talking about making arenas. I'm in the middle of making this uh WSC WrestleMania Arena, and I'm working with WrestleMistic, who's a great designer, does all sorts of things in the community, and I wanted him to do the the crowd back drop for me like before I went to WrestleMania, so I'd have everything set up. He didn't get it to me in time, but he's got a great design ready, so we're getting that cooking. But in the meantime, I gotta film another match before all that. But yeah, it's a big process that a lot of people don't realize what goes on behind the scenes.

SPEAKER_03

I was gonna I was gonna well, I was just gonna add in real quick. Like usually you find yourself, and you you guys may agree with this, where you're whatever you're currently doing, you have to go ahead and pre-plan for the next thing. So on top of filming your current show, you're you're in the background messaging people, ordering things. Maybe it's for a stage for the next show, maybe it's a piece that you need, maybe it's uh uh effect you need, maybe an entrance, a custom figure, whatever. You're legitimately working on that while you're actively filming the thing that's before that, so that that thing is ready. Because let's say, okay, I'm filming this one show. Well, if I wait until I'm done filming and editing the show, I won't be able to even start the next show until all I order all that stuff. So you have to be in a constant like booking and creating process the whole time, or you'll get super behind. It's like the way that it is.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, and you basically always have like 37 taps open in your head, like thinking about this while doing this, and like thinking about all that stuff you gotta do in the future kind of makes you less focused on what you're doing right now, right? And yeah, it just at times can become really, really taxing on you, really. I would say.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, for sure. It's all it's a lot for one person. A team would definitely be better, but yeah, that that's just the growth of things you gotta grow in in order to, you know, get a team and whatever, you know, do as much as you can until you know it overwhelms you too much.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I have like 17 postcards around my desk right here where if I think of something that I need to do, I jot it down, and I have to leave that piece of paper on my desk or I'll forget about it. And like every day I'll come back and look at my little postcards that I have on my desk so that I can keep that thought in the front of my mind because if I don't, then I'll forget about it, and then you know that could throw me off in the future. It's just one of those things. It's yeah, it's tough. You just have to actively it's like while you're in the that's probably content creation in itself, right? But I think with the wrestling or the feding stuff, it doubles down because like I said, if you need a custom this or that, you better have that ready to go or it's gonna delay your schedule.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I can just imagine how much harder it's getting for you again because you also always want to have your daily upload out, right? So that already takes a lot of time, and then you have to do all the Fed stuff now too, right? Um it's going to come out soon, right? Uh MDT is going to be back, like I heard on the podcast before. So, how are you dealing with all that? How much stress did you add to your life, like trying to get back to it?

SPEAKER_03

Well, it's it's crazy because you know, for years talked about how like priorities and everything like that. It obviously I've had to be a lot more, what's the word? Uh I guess efficient. You gotta be really, really efficient. You gotta manage your time well. Nate knows I don't sleep very well. I, you know, I lose a lot of sleep between doing the pot. So I added a podcast and a fed in the middle, yeah in the middle there. So yeah, it's just about like managing it. And you know, I'm as we know, like number one rule of fetting is like don't give yourself a definitive deadline because you know you're gonna end up you're gonna think that you can get all this work done when it's not real. I'm sure you guys have related to that in terms of fetting. But yeah, it's it's difficult. It's it's like a juggling job, you know, just trying to stay if you stay in the process, just like make your process really efficient and then just knock it out little by little. It's obviously not gonna be an overnight thing, but it's something I've like adjusted over time. But yeah, I'm I'm hoping I'm hoping to get the first episode back out before June. So hopefully that will be able to take place.

SPEAKER_04

But nice.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, awesome. That's about all my questions for Luke. Do you have any more, Trey?

SPEAKER_03

Um, I think we covered, I want to go over the list right here to make sure, but I mean, just to add, like we said when we first jumped on here, we weren't even recording, but just man to man, I feel like I haven't seen you in a long time. It's I'm I'm glad that you're gonna be. Yeah, it's I'm glad to see you, first of all. And then second of all, you look really good, you look healthy, you have you still have your your girlfriend, or is she your wife, or what's going on there? You may not want to get into that, but yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, she also still does custom figures, right? She got into making custom figures, so we have like a badge of them coming out with every Angelo badge as well. So we added like some figures she really took well to customizing, so that's awesome.

SPEAKER_03

That is awesome. So, like imagine like babe, I really need this Joker attire. I need you to bang this out. Like, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's sick. Yeah, that's really good. But yeah, it's really good to just see you hear your thoughts. You know, I feel like back in the day, I felt like I don't know, the community was probably a little bit closer, probably. I feel like a lot of people like talked a lot more, and you know, you'd just be in like random group chats or whatever, just kind of talking about things and stuff like that. You know, we did talking feds there for a little bit. And yeah, man, it's just I'm glad to see you doing well and to just talk to you, see you, and I'd love to have you back on the show at another point. And even if it's just a hop on a call with me and Nate one night or whatever you want to do there.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah, I was really happy to see you guys again, too. I mean, obviously, we did the podcast all together back in the day, like weekly was like kind of a challenge, like with all our different time zones and sleep schedules. Like it became really hard, but you know, that was a fun time as well. I think that was also around the time like where all your characters were involved in in GCW. So, you know, we have been on like a lot of very long calls, like trying to figure out all that stuff. So, yeah, it it definitely has been a while. Um, also like first time now, though, with the video call. Um, you guys have a very professional looking setup, but definitely way better than what we had back in the day. So yeah, I enjoy seeing that.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I appreciate that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you gotta you gotta make it out to one of these mania trips with us.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I I don't know. No, no, I mean to make something happen.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, some sort of trip, some boys' trip.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, I would have said we we have to go to Wrestle Kingdom, but New Japan is kind of like dead with like what AEW is doing to New Japan.

SPEAKER_00

So they rated them a bit, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Yeah. What's your current thoughts, I guess, before we get out of here? What's your what's kind of your feeling on wrestling or collecting in general? You know, you used to have such a big collection, you obviously talked about downsizing and things like that, but I remember used to have so many figures, you know, it probably made it a lot easier to make content too, because you had I used to love your roster videos where you go through like the whole WWE roster and you could do a GCW roster if you have one, like you could do a video on that.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I could do that. I couldn't do the WWE anymore because I don't keep the whole WWE roster anymore. I pretty much just buy figures that I feel like I would use in the Fed, um, like in the near future. Like now I'm kind of doing it like maybe even like a figure that I feel like I want to use, you know, in uh maybe a little bit of a longer time period away. Because like often like figures become kind of expensive now if they're like solid as you kind of you gotta try and get them now for like future purposes, right?

SPEAKER_00

Because yeah, especially did you get that Penta figure? No ringside no, oh man. No, no, yeah, yeah, you gotta get your hands on one of those.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, because like ringside shipping is really expensive for me. Um true. What I can do is Amazon, they do like if you buy for $50, they do free international shipping, which I buy my stuff mostly at now. Um so there's like an elite penta coming. The red one, yep. Yeah, yeah. So I hope that will be possible to get. I mean, I I've pretty much gotten like most of the figures that I wanted, like you know, Oba Fami, for example. He's also like pretty sought after right now. So yeah, you know, that that I luckily got through Amazon. So yeah, I feel like I should be able to get the penta there.

SPEAKER_03

That's good. It just I think it just shipped from ringside. So I imagine not too far in the future, that red pinta. I think mine comes, I guess, in a few hours. I think it's supposed to arrive today. It's 2 a.m. where I am, so hopefully it'll arrive today. But what's like your what's your favorite superstar that you've ever filmed with? Like, what's a superstar that you get them in hand, you start posing them around, you you really enjoy their moveset, you really enjoy just the way the figure moved around, or you could do a figure, you could do a talent. What's your thoughts right there?

SPEAKER_04

That's I would I would probably say Will Ospreay because like he just has like very cool attires, and like getting like the latest one from Angelo to use is like always very exciting, and I think we figured out a pretty good formula for osprey that poses well and um that looks pretty good. So I would probably say osprey. Well, did you get the AEW Osprey? No, I still didn't know.

SPEAKER_00

No, you you just know that will suck to film it.

SPEAKER_04

I it probably would, yeah. I mean, you did you did a match with it, right? How how was it?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's pretty good. I mean, I don't know, maybe my tolerance for AEW figures is like higher than you, but yeah, I think it's pretty good. It got a little bit of a loose arm, but overall, I think it's pretty much like the Kenny Omega figure, very similar. So if depends how you feel about that one. What what's the story with with Osprey and the Fed? Is he gone for a while? Is he coming back?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah, but yeah, yeah. I have a little bit of a story for that in mind. So okay, yeah, that's you know, we're gonna have like a Royal Rumble at some point to determine a new champion, and there's going to be like a story coming out of that regarding Osprey as well.

SPEAKER_03

One thing I also love too is with I don't know if it's all Angelo or Angelo, or if it's y'all two working together, but y'all's customs and your formulas for figures is always like top-notch. Like even going back way back in the day with the AJ Styles, like I wanted Mattel to copy that formula so bad that I think we ended up succeeding. Like I remember making a post on Instagram saying, make AJ Styles like this. And they finally did it for the Elite 104. I know the thighs weren't as big as we wanted. Like we want the Sinkara thighs, right? And they were always perfect because they were on ball joints and stuff like that. But I don't know, man. The customs Angelo has some of the best work uh like ever. And they're like, you can pose them. They don't like they're very durable, they look great. So he he shout out to the GOAT.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, he really tried hard to because you know he knows that I've been pick fetting with them to make them like better to pick fed with. Like, you know, he will do stuff to the joints, even for them not to chip that fast. And yeah, he he really does great. And you know, I always try to be for Angelo, like what I always hoped like someone for my Fed could be, like, where I kind of try to that he just has to focus on his art, and the rest is taken care of by me. Like, you know, I plan everything ahead, like I have like a ton of parts laying around. So, like once we get to the next batch, like you know, I have all the parts ready to send to him and get the heteration order in and everything like that, deal with the customers, deal with like the shipping and everything. So, yeah, that's kind of what I try to do with that.

SPEAKER_00

Well, it should that help does that help with like you know the profitability of like the whole action figure, like you know, business, the eBay stuff? Um like more so than the fetting?

SPEAKER_04

Oh, yeah, the eBay definitely makes like far more than uh what uh YouTube makes, yeah. And I mean we also sell like other stuff, like where Danny and I are teaming up, like accessories and stuff. It's a lot easier. We're just listing the item, and that takes like three minutes, right? And Danny ships it from the US. So yeah, I mean, I would say it's like if you put it on like an hourly rate, that's far more profitable than fetting. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I was gonna say, uh I don't know if like there are ideas for customs that I have, but I I don't want anybody really to make them because I don't think that they could do it like Angelo does. Is there any way that I could commission a couple customs from him, or is or is he GCW exclusive, or what's up with that?

SPEAKER_04

I mean, so basically what we do is um once a batch is done, we take pre-orders if people want to put in pre-orders like for the next batch, right? And lately they just been like we're putting out the posts for pre-orders, and within like 10 minutes we're full. So damn, yeah. I mean it's good. I mean, it makes sense why that happens, you know what I mean? Yeah, I mean, that business has been going on for a really long time too, right? And I think you know, a lot of the time, like people get screwed over with like customizers, and you know, like we obviously have like never scammed anyone, like everyone always got their stuff and got updates about like how their stuff is doing if they asked for it. So yeah, I mean, I feel like the customs have been even longer than the Fed, maybe even.

SPEAKER_03

So yeah, yeah. So is he so you're saying I just need to be on top of those posts and jump in there? Like, even if I send him parts and everything.

SPEAKER_04

Um, I mean, yeah, we can probably like talk this through on uh after the pot to figure something out, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Um because yeah, like if like specifically, like I always talk about his AJ styles. His AJ styles are just phenomenal, pun intended. And I'm like, Yeah, yeah, I gotta get a custom AJ styles made by this guy, and so I'm like, I don't want anybody else to touch it, I don't want anybody to handle it. So I'm like, see if we can get in there, but yeah, his his work is true. I'm trying like obviously my figure is made by him, or my couple figures are made by him, and they're so dude, they're like so well done, they're insane.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah, I love them. Yeah, the first one, like the the purple one, yeah. I was and and he he even made the decal tattoos, right? Like for that, yeah, and and everything.

SPEAKER_03

So yeah, he crushed it. I gotta get it, I gotta get an update. I'm missing tattoos now. I've had I got double sleeves now, so it's time to yeah, I gotta upgrade. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Maybe uh MDT return in GCW, perhaps one day.
