Relative Chaos

Relative Chaos is five sisters — spanning mid-20s to almost 40, single to mom of three, from CEO to still figuring it out — having the conversations that usually stay in the group chat.
We talk about the stuff that matters and the stuff that absolutely does not — with the kind of honesty that only comes from people who've known you your entire life. Conversations about ambition, motherhood, relationships, the messy realities of adulting, what we're reading, what we're spiraling about, and the small unhinged moments that somehow turn into the best conversations.
Some of it will make you think. Most of it will make you laugh.
Everyone needs someone who will hype you up and keep you honest all in the same breath. That's what sisters are for. And if you don't have one, you can borrow ours.
For all the moments, to be discussed.

Summer Transitions, Life on the Commune, Puka or Chain?
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
The sisters have officially descended on Nantucket for the summer, recording from bed on day four of commune life: 11 adults, six kids, and zero personal space. Clare has prepared Andrew a full orientation guide (no sleeping in, house chores mandatory), Erin woke up at 4am with her OCD reaching new heights, and Megan's camp counselor energy can't be contained. Also on the agenda: the crusty versus greasy personality debate, puka versus chain, a live CoStar reading under the Strawberry Moon, and a tick paranoia spiral that ends with Erin offering to check Clare's butt. That's what sisters are for.
Intro
SPEAKER_03Hey. Hi. Hey y'all. Hey y'all. In a new studio today, if you couldn't tell.
SPEAKER_01A new i.e.
SPEAKER_03our beds. I.
SPEAKER_01Claire's in more of a fainting chair type situation.
SPEAKER_03Yes. I am in what Rose in the Titanic, I imagine, would have laid on. Yes, 100%.
SPEAKER_01H me like your French girl's Jack.
SPEAKER_03Exactly. That's where I'm at.
SPEAKER_00A super functional love seat.
SPEAKER_03I'm actually loving this seat. I would like one in my home in New York, in my home studio apartment.
unknownTotally.
SPEAKER_01It'd be a cute touch.
SPEAKER_03It would be a cute touch. Right now I just have a bench from Wayfair there.
SPEAKER_01So we need to replace that with a pepper bench immediately.
SPEAKER_03I would love to. Obviously. A little out of my budget at the moment.
SPEAKER_01We'll see what we can make happen there. I know a guy.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Thanks so much.
SPEAKER_00Soon we will be recording in person, but just a lot of technical difficulties for a Monday for us to get through. So here we are recording from bed.
SPEAKER_03That no one has made the effort to work through either. None of us have made a single stride. It's a daunting task.
SPEAKER_00It's a lot to juggle like kids' job, running a podcast. It's just like a lot.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Which is like an added lair. Yeah. This robe I'm wearing today, I'm pretty sure is 35 years old. It's our grandmothers, right?
SPEAKER_03I don't know. Is it moms or muffs? I think it's muffs.
SPEAKER_01I don't, I don't know, but it's literally been in this house since this house existed. So you call me a crusty crab.
SPEAKER_00You are the crustiest of crusty crabs.
SPEAKER_01I don't call you crusty. You're not crusty with personal hygiene. You're just like a dirty hoarding gremlin.
SPEAKER_00You're crusty with personal hygiene.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'm the worst in makeup and other things.
SPEAKER_00And wearing dirty ass robes that are 35 years old.
SPEAKER_01There was the ugliest underwear from Amazon. It's not okay. Like I actually need to replace my underwear.
SPEAKER_00You with bras and underwear. Like I should just that should be my gift for you. Intimate. No, I don't want to bra, I want to boob bras.
SPEAKER_01Today I was wearing this strapless padded bra, and my boobs don't even come close to filling it. It's like air in between my body and the bra. And it was like falling down.
SPEAKER_03I hate push-up bras. I think they're so uncomfortable.
SPEAKER_01Well, I have nothing to push up.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00You know what I learned? A fun fact because I tried to get refitted for bras because I'm having that same gap issue. No, you're it's not the same, just to be clear. It's okay, whatever. I have no boobs. Since having kids, I'm having that gap in my bra. And I'm typically a 34B. And so she's like, maybe we go to a 34A. And I was like, fuck you, fine. I'll try it.
SPEAKER_01See, I think your boobs are perfect size right now.
SPEAKER_00But there is a trick that you actually go down one strap size and up a cup size. So a 32C is actually the perfect size, which was honestly mind blowing. But I saw something else where I'm like, it's just gonna be the summer of like French boobies. You know how like French women never wear a bra. Yeah, free the nipples look in cheek with our tiny boobies. That's what the summer is gonna be for me because I have no boobs anymore. Well, but I think you need to hold me accountable for this boob job, please.
SPEAKER_03If Kat were here, she would. She really wants you to get that boob job.
SPEAKER_00We've only been talking about it since we were 15 years old. So for my sake, I really would love to see this happen.
SPEAKER_03Watching Kat's boobs grow is putting a deep fear in me that I cannot describe towards the size of having a kid, God willing, I have a child. It's not gonna be good.
SPEAKER_01Then they're gonna deflate.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's gonna suck.
SPEAKER_01You just have to get a boob job, honestly.
SPEAKER_00It's just the circle of life, it's all great, and it will all work out, but yeah, not gonna lie.
SPEAKER_03It's not pleasant, but it's like I was gifted something. Except for the part where your body gets destroyed. Yeah, I don't have to physically alter this at the moment, and now I will have to. Clearly, ditto.
SPEAKER_00That happened to my stomach. Yeah, perfect, stomach. I had perfect bees, and I was like, I want my boobs, I don't want to touch them, change anything. And now I need, I don't even call it like a boob drop. It's like I need reconstructive surgery for what happened post-breastfeeding three children. That's not my fault. And I just do their original shape and size. It should be covered by insurance.
SPEAKER_01It should be it should be covered by insurance. It's fucked up.
SPEAKER_03It's like where is the justice?
SPEAKER_01I don't know. It's messed up though. One of this is like such a weird aside, but on I for the five minutes I was on Instagram tonight where it wasn't blocked, a new category that's popping up for me on Instagram, which is like super fucked up given my crazy OCD, is women with 10 children and very messy houses. That's it is literally causing me to spiral. It's not like they're hoarders, it's just like there are 10 children. Imagine the woman is like I have ADD and it's hard for me to be organized. It's not right. If that's the case, like it's not right to show that to me on Instagram because you need I'll adjust your algorithm for you tomorrow. I need a new algorithm between this and the truckers. I just need a new algorithm.
SPEAKER_03Aaron, I have to tell you, the way that you are seated right now looks like you're in an interrogation.
SPEAKER_00No, it looks like she's in a padded cell. What she basically is away and white.
SPEAKER_03It looks like you're in a padded cell.
SPEAKER_00And I woke up at 4 a.m. So my eyes look crazy right now. Okay, can we let me set the stage? Because I have a lot of thoughts on Aaron waking up at four and just all these things. Let's set the stage. This crazy headboard. Yeah. Can you put it down a little? There we go. Setting the stage, totally summer has to be gone. Happy summer, everyone. Happy summer. Um it's personally my favorite time of year, although Gen Z commentary moment.
SPEAKER_03Hags, have a good summer.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Just so you know. I'll use that.
SPEAKER_03So you're saying goodbye at the end of a school year. Hags, you know.
SPEAKER_00Hags.
SPEAKER_01I feel like it's just a reference to my face right now, but okay.
unknownSure.
SPEAKER_00Actually, no, I think you look quite moisturized, but anyways, I'll continue. So, Hags, happy summer, everyone. Have a great summer. We have started summer, and we have descended upon our parents' house and are all living together in Nantucket. And it's my favorite time of year. Aaron, not so sure, but it's my favorite time of year. I love it. I just have mental problems. Say it with some enthusiasm. Aaron, but why don't you paint the lay of the land? Because it was so funny. I was talking to someone today, they were like, How does it work? Do you all want to kill each other? Like, how does this work? All of you living together.
Commune Life
SPEAKER_01So we are middle-aged uh humans that live with our parents on Nantucket. Try that again. Try that again. No, I love it. Why? It's the truth. Uh no, so there are six kids in our family. I'm 39, and the youngest, Emma, is 26. So in the summer, the house that we grew up going to in Nantucket that our parents own, we come to. And a lot of people come in and out throughout the summer. But Megan and I, we're the only two that currently have kids. We each have three kids, ride it out throughout the whole summer because our parents are very generous and kind people that let us stay here and wreak havoc on their sanity. And then we work remotely out here. We both get office space, we put all of our kids in camp. But the logistics are there's a house that we grew up living in with our entire family, and our parents moved out of that house into a separate house that they now live in with some of our younger siblings who come in and out like Claire. And then there's an apartment above the garage where we have our two summer, amazing summer babysitters live. And so there's about 3,000 bodies on the property at any given moment. Hashtag that commune life. Commune life, and it's really crazy, but fun. And it triggers my OCD in a really intense way.
SPEAKER_00Aaron, I have to just acknowledge that, you know, I think I watch a YouTube ahead of coming here to make sure I could be on the level that Aaron would want me for the summer, matching all her things that she needs me to be. Because I'm trying, I'm really trying to be better. I'm trying to let go. And what I realized when Aaron told me that she woke up at four in the morning this morning, I was like, oh no, your OCD is starting to get to mom's level, and we need to manage this.
SPEAKER_01No, no, I think it's my age, unfortunately. In the morning isn't normal though. It is like women, I feel like people say in their early 40s, all the oh god, I hate using this word, but like perimenopausal stuff, all of a sudden you start waking up. I think the real culprit was Toby, who was pissing me off, and that's why I woke up. But why was he pissing off at four in the morning? He pissed me off yesterday, and so I was still angry about it at four in the morning. Woke up in a rage. I woke up in a rage, but it did send him on a tangent in terms of finding additional assistance with cleaning services this summer.
SPEAKER_00So did is he looking into that for us?
SPEAKER_01I told him you fucking better.
SPEAKER_00Already, yes. Have I scarred you that much already?
SPEAKER_01Oh no, it has nothing to do with you. I was saying in kind of like a blind rage. I think we're doing pretty well. I think we are. I think we're figuring out a system.
SPEAKER_00I know.
SPEAKER_03I don't want you to I I hate to break into you. It has been four days.
SPEAKER_00No, I know, but the beginning sets the tone, and so we just gotta set our systems in place. No, and I need to let go.
SPEAKER_01No, it's but you know what? Again, that's like that article you sent me. Be disciplined so you can what? Be what's the word? Be disciplined so you can be spontaneous and irresponsible. Yeah, exactly. Something like that. That's the fun balance we need to strike. Anyway, I think we're doing a great job. And hopefully, I'm not gonna wake up at four in the morning tomorrow, but I made it through the day. Are you taking anything to sleep? No, I don't really like taking any medicine of any kind.
SPEAKER_03Okay, but like uh would a melatonin.
SPEAKER_01Will that me kill you?
SPEAKER_00I'll take the other end on that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, no judgment to be clear. No, I like have had a fucked up neck for the month, and I have taken Tylenol one time. It's just like a mental block I have. I know, it's very weird.
SPEAKER_03Okay, I know for someone like who gets filler and stuff. I think that's totally it's totally hypocritical. What's the balance on that?
SPEAKER_01Agree. Tylenol is like a studied it's not that I think Tylenol is gonna hurt me or I don't want to put it in my body. I think so. I think it's a little bit of that that's such a dad thing, yeah. Exactly. Dad's like, oh, I don't drink coffee and like I have no vices. Like, it's not like I have anything to prove, it's just my I've always been this way. Yeah, even ego, I'm just like, I'm just not gonna take time. I also just don't think Tylenol like really alleviates my pain if I'm being honest. Interesting.
SPEAKER_00The point is, is we're having a grand old time, but it is a lot of logistics, and yeah, I think people are sometimes like, oh, like you, it's just all like fine and dandy, and everyone gets along perfectly. And I would say, yes, we generally all get along, but it's also we put in a lot of effort to make it work.
SPEAKER_01We do, and like we I obviously the people with children annoy the people without children, and we're aware of that, and we just try and mitigate the amount that we're gonna do. Yeah, Claire, what's your take?
SPEAKER_03I just was catching up, I was like, oh wait, what my team is. You girls are so patient. It's a blessing to get to spend this much time with my family. I agree. Um but yeah, I think there is a level of helping out required to make everything work, and I'm happy to do that. And it's the thing that should be done.
SPEAKER_01You got fucked on the birth order in that respect. However, we will get you back. Just know that we'll get you back.
SPEAKER_00We're gonna be super successful before then, so we can pay for all your child care.
SPEAKER_03No, I love my little chickens, I love the extra time with them, it's really special. Yeah, especially like Aaron's kids, I never get to see as much, but it's also nice being with Megan's kids. It's usually small spurts, so I just love being with everyone for extended periods of time.
SPEAKER_00I also I also think my children are much better in last night was not great, but I would say in general, having space to roam, I just think they're like better people versus so contained question New York. It does sometimes, it does, especially with James and watching like how much time he spends outside here. Yeah, I was thinking that. I think if we didn't have the situation where they could be out here all summer, uh New York would be ten times harder. But I think because we have this balance of the mix of New York and here, it makes it more feasible. But I think we're gonna have to see what they're like as we get older.
SPEAKER_01Definitely.
SPEAKER_03No, but I don't know what it is about coming here because you guys are obviously being run through the gamut far more than I am, but I can barely get myself to get into bed at 10:30 when I'm in New York. I'm always staying on my couch pretty late. It's been like 9:30 bedtime here. I know it's kind of crazy. I'm getting into bed when it's still light out every night. But I haven't been moving them. I don't know why. Kat and I went for a walk this morning and then we worked out.
SPEAKER_01But then it's hard to do.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, walking is super hard. But I also think it's the influence cat goes to bed so early that I'm like, okay, what am I gonna do?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, okay, I'll just go. Dad's watching the walk myself and we sit by myself. I always imagine, like envision a morning for you guys versus a morning for us. Like, I envision you guys like waking up leisurely, having like your nice coffee, reading.
SPEAKER_01Well, then our kids like come wake them up at nine or seven.
SPEAKER_00But versus us where we have fucking chaos starting at 5 30.
SPEAKER_01And I'm just like by the time I dropped our kids off at camp today at 9 30, I had lived like 12 lives. Yeah, like I literally was like, oh my god, I believe.
SPEAKER_00But
Summer Transitions & Family Dynamics
SPEAKER_00this is the transition we're experiencing at this stage in life, i.e., we're mid-30s, almost 40, with kids in camp and all the chaos.
SPEAKER_01I hate to tell you, Meg, you're not mid-30s anymore.
SPEAKER_00I'm 36, so yeah. You're gonna be 37 in a week. Doesn't matter. I'm 36 right now, so you can fuck right.
SPEAKER_03The age of the seven, 27, 37, whatever. That's mid to late.
SPEAKER_00I can flex whatever way I want. Okay. Mid to late. 38, 39 is in Jimmy's friend group. I'm like younger, so I'm like, oh, I'm 37, but everywhere else I'm like, I'm 36. Anyways, but Claire, that's for us. What are you experiencing amidst the summer transition? Is it a joyful experience for you or does it bring stress for you and your friends?
SPEAKER_03I
Living with Family as Adults
SPEAKER_03think for me individually, I think it's obviously it's so nice being out here, and it's a very good and needed break from the city, especially when it's gonna be a hundred degrees in the city this week. Did you see that? No, it's not safe.
SPEAKER_01It's not good what's going on in France right now.
SPEAKER_03No, that's really sad.
SPEAKER_01It's really sad. Why do that does no one have air conditioning there?
SPEAKER_03It's a freaking European thing. I don't know, it's so weird. But I love it. I think I get some anxiety sometimes around like not seeing my friends for a long period of time. I'm like, oh, especially because I'm kind of a bad communicator via tech. So sometimes I feel guilty. I haven't talked to some people in a while, and then it's like when I do come home intermittently, it's like, all right, I gotta make sure I see everyone. But I love it. I think it's a good excuse for trips and stuff.
SPEAKER_01By the time the summer's over, are you like sad about it or are you ready for it to be over? I'm usually ready.
SPEAKER_00Fall in New York is so fun though.
SPEAKER_03Exactly. Fall in New York is the best, so I'm usually ready to get back to it. But I think there's anxiety that comes with living with your family as an adult for sure. I think that's a beauty of coming and going.
SPEAKER_01Was it like I shouldn't poop in the powder bathroom?
SPEAKER_03You know what? That was out of my control. Okay, it was an accident, but yes, you shouldn't do that. Peeing with the door open, I do forget. I'm a pee with the door open.
SPEAKER_01So you pee with the powder door open?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and like I forget sometimes when I'm here, I'm like, oh fuck, I have to close the door.
SPEAKER_01I live alone. And like dad's there.
SPEAKER_03No, he's in his office or something, and it's like in the hallway bathroom around the corner.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you're like, I just didn't realize that the people walked to the laundry room.
SPEAKER_03I just forget.
SPEAKER_00Wait, but but Claire, what are the anxieties that come with living with your family? And the curious.
SPEAKER_03I can get overstimulated really easily. So never have children. It's overstimulating. There is, for example, the first night we got here, I was unpacking my suitcase. You guys were downstairs, and I was talking on the phone to Andrew, and Kat was like, text me, where are you? And I didn't see it. I think I've been upstairs by myself for like 45 minutes. And I come downstairs. Kat's like, Did you die? I was gonna come looking for you. It's like if you spend 10 minutes alone by yourself, everyone's like, Where the fuck are we? I have commentary on that. And that's overwhelming.
SPEAKER_00Mom, mom goes, is like, oh my god. The chatter between me, mom, and cat on this was like, mom was like, I think Claire must have fallen asleep. No one has heard from her. You guys go find her. I think she's asleep. They assumed that you fell asleep because we were like hollering upstairs and you weren't responding. So it was everyone's oh, she fell asleep. Someone go wake her up for dinner.
SPEAKER_03When have I ever been known? She was just the one time I was drunk. You were just having quiet time through with dinner.
SPEAKER_00You were just having quiet time and having personal space, but no personal space allowed here. You were just having a timeout.
SPEAKER_01There's no personal space.
SPEAKER_03I think I had my headphones in talking to Andrew while I was unpacking, so I couldn't hear anyone, but I talk pretty loud. I'm kind of surprised no one could hear me. But yeah, it's like you disappear for 10 minutes and everyone's like, Where the fuck are you?
SPEAKER_01I know. It's tough when you're having a bad day, which is inevitable. We all have bad days, and you have to either explain yourself to people or pretend you're having a good day in front of like 20 people instead of either no one or one person.
SPEAKER_03You know what I mean? And because the energies are so transferable here that you don't want to be the one to offset the mood.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we're all empaths, so we can all pick up when one sibling is off and you'll be like, No, I'm fine. And you're like, no, you're not fine. Tell me what's wrong. What's wrong with that?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I don't know if it's empathetic or like just we're nosy.
SPEAKER_00No, I'm not saying empathetic, you're an empath, like you absorb someone else's energy. I'm very aware.
SPEAKER_03I feel like I don't think Aaron's an empath, honestly.
SPEAKER_00No, or Kathan, for that matter. Oh, you and I are so you and I are for sure.
SPEAKER_03If I was having a really bad day, I don't think Aaron would be off put by that for the rest of the day, you know.
SPEAKER_01See, I you don't realize that these things bother me more than you. No, I think it would bother you. You would be concerned for sure. But I know but I don't respond the same as Megan or you. Yeah, I'm way more like that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but you encounter like that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we're just like mom's energy is off. Oh, but we all sense that. We all sense that.
SPEAKER_00That's mom's energy is or dad for that matter.
SPEAKER_03Everyone, dad's energy is pretty consistent. But if he's having you can tell he's like brooding, brooding, and he's did you there's a cup on the table, or did you leave that weight astray in the gym? Yeah, he's itching to pick a fight. I'm like, oh fuck me, I'm going upstairs. This is not my time to avoid it.
SPEAKER_00The days when he wants to pick a fight is like, oh no, I'm exiting stage left.
SPEAKER_03I know, and I'm trying, I've tried to get better about that. I usually pick back the why. It's not working.
SPEAKER_00I love that you, as a favorite child, you choose to pick back, and then you guys go toe to toe. It's so funny. I've seen this happen multiple times.
SPEAKER_03I'm just like, the audacity. Like, why and it's obviously he had like he has every right to have the audacity, but sometimes on little things, I just feel this is maybe like a self-centered comment, but I feel like I do a lot to help out, like whatever. I contribute a lot. And when it's like you left the fridge door open, I'm like, are you fucking kidding me?
SPEAKER_01No, sorry, that's a bad one. That's a bad one. But why would you leave the fridge door open? That's so stupid.
SPEAKER_00No, it's like you left your coffee cup out too long. Or the gym.
SPEAKER_03Oh, one time I didn't clean up in the gym immediately, and I was like read to filth. And it was You were put out to pass.
SPEAKER_01I was. You're kicked off.
SPEAKER_00And it's so hard because it's yes, we're totally we are living in your space and we are so lucky and grateful and they're so generous. Genros. But sometimes I'm like, wait, I also want to not retreat, go back to how I was when I was younger and just we talked, I think we talked about this.
SPEAKER_03It's really hard to escape your childhood self when you're with your family. But I think this is a thing that I also regress. Regress. Regress, yes. This is a thing that I saw and was talking about with my friends about, and correct me if we've already spoken about this, but whether you're a sleep-safe household or not. There are sleep-safe households and not sleep-safe households. A sleep-safe household is like you're not gonna get murdered in the middle of the night. No, no, you come home over the summer to stay with your family. You can sleep till 11 or 10. Your parents are like sleeping. We are not asleep. We are not it's never happened. We shame you will be shamed, you will be shamed, and it's really toxic.
SPEAKER_01Joe, no, it's not. Sorry, it's a little toxic. Respectfully, I think we're a little too old to be sleeping in.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03But if I'm having like, God forbid, I want to. I had a discount to mom the other day, and she was totally supportive of it, but I was like, I would really love to sleep in until 8 30 or 8 45. I would really like that.
SPEAKER_00Okay, that's not bad. I thought you were saying like sleep till 11.
SPEAKER_01No, I think Joey kind of scarred us, honestly, with all I think he slept with a little. Emma too. Emma too. Love you both, but you guys sleep too late.
SPEAKER_03Sleep too late. Mom and dad would get so angry by it. So it's like, all right, fuck. This is another example, introducing a new boyfriend into the family. Oh, he'll stay with us. He's he'll stay with us for a period of time, and he's used to getting up early with me when we do stay together. But I was like, I just want to talk you through a few things. Absolutely no sleeping past 8:30. Um please don't be sitting on the couch for extended periods of time.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah. What's your house protocol? I look at Toby. He literally took a nap the other night in front of everyone on the couch. Yeah, he's been around for a while.
SPEAKER_03He's been around for longer. Toby's been around for more. He's been around in my life longer than not. He hasn't. Thank you. Words are really hard tonight. But yeah, imagine Andrew's very good with the dishes and stuff and like taking out trash. She's very intuitive with that stuff. So that's I'm not worried.
SPEAKER_00Kelly needed a talking to on that a little bit from Kat.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah. I said something. I was like, get the get on. He was bad at the beginning.
SPEAKER_01It was not good, but you've improved. You've improved. And let me tell you.
SPEAKER_03Who and who is now yucking it up over there? I said to Kat, I was like, this is fucking exhausting. Him and dad are non-stop talking over there right now. And mom, it's like they're like pals. It's really definitely.
SPEAKER_00Kellen comes stays with mom and dad for the week at a time.
SPEAKER_03I think Kellen's like the favorite, like of every like uh they like Helen more than their own blood till you know what I think is interesting.
SPEAKER_01Like, why? I love you, Kellen. I don't mean like that, but it's not like Helen's Kellen's kind of like Toby. He's kind of stoic. No, he went to the city.
SPEAKER_00They're even vying for they're vying for his attention.
SPEAKER_01They want to it's not like he's one of those thirsty people that's like trying to kiss their ass. Like he's kind of I'm gonna live my life.
SPEAKER_03No, but over he no, you're not spending time over in the quiet house. He's oh is he kissing ass? Oh, not kissing ass at all, but he's just so funny. He's like, All right, let's get like a group game going over in the other house. No, okay, he just and him and Cheryl just have a really cute relationship, and I think him and dad are just really they just have a lot to say to each other. Kellen is like dad in the sense where he asks, and Kat said that Kellen was kind of like this on their honeymoon. He asks a lot of questions. That's a great character trait. And but sometimes I'm like, holy shit, like sometimes you're like shut the fuck up. It's like when him and dad are going beep boop bop, beep boop bop, they could talk all night. It's really sweet though. It's really it really is it's really cute.
SPEAKER_00Well, I'm I'm glad you have a list of things to run through with Andrew before so he knows what he's getting into.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah. Sleep was the biggest one, but I wouldn't let him sleep late and then being assaulted by a million tiny children. Oh, yeah. I think we were on the phone the other night, and I was downstairs, and it started with just Huddy being down there. Huddy was down in the basement by himself, and he goes, Is someone gonna come down here? I was like, All right, I'm coming. It started with him, and he's like chatting with me, and then James, and then Jack, and then it's like free for all. And he was like, Wow, there's like a lot going on the other side of the phone right now. He was like, I don't think I've ever really been around this many kids before. And I was like, I don't even describe it to you.
SPEAKER_02He said he's excited though.
SPEAKER_00He thinks they're cute, they're so cute. I'm excited to welcome him into the funhouse.
SPEAKER_01I mean just um hopefully he isn't scared away by all the feral children.
SPEAKER_00No, I love it. What's your take on Summer?
SPEAKER_01I love it. I have a love hate relationship with it.
SPEAKER_00You have a love hate. I have a love hate.
SPEAKER_01I would probably feel differently if I didn't work, but I feel very stressed by the juggle here.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03You've also been having a really stressful couple months with work, I feel.
SPEAKER_01No, I think you know what it is, it's just like you just gotta deal with it. But I really, really, really, really relish being alone and working and having uninterrupted time to get things done. And here there's just like more of a juggle, which I've just gotten better at making.
SPEAKER_00There's very little alone time here, like in any capacity.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well, you do want alone time, you have to again back to the whole energy thing. You also don't want to come across as a fun sponge, you know what I mean? So I obviously love our time together and I love being here. And if I didn't love being here, I wouldn't come. But I think then you're like, I feel like I have to be in a thousand places at once. I'm just I do get overstimulated, not just like by being with our family, but it's very social.
SPEAKER_00And I think you have to like re-center, I think you have to re-center around what do you want out of summer? It's obviously like what you want for your kids and your family, but then also you as an individual. Yeah. And I think for me, for the kids in our family, like I want them to make core memories with the cousins. That's my biggest priority, and I want to facilitate that however we can, hence why I bought like sponges and spray bottles and red up. Speaking of sponges, yes. Yes, being sponges. No, I agree. I think on the personal side, the other thing I love about being out here is that there are so many different groups of friends that are here and friends that you don't get to spend as much time with during the year, or maybe you do. And you get to see people when they're truly in their happy place, and I think sometimes the most relaxed or laid-back version of themselves without all the dynamics of whatever your home situation is. And I think that's an amazing thing, but then it also turns into like you having a million social things, which is a blessing, but you also need to know when to be like, okay, I gotta step back and have a quiet time.
SPEAKER_01Today I could have been like, Okay, I did not really sleep last night, and I'm gonna just retreat, but I was like, fuck it, I'll lean in and not do that. Yeah, so I agree with you. I think you're right, you have to think about what you want out of it. And I I obviously I love being here and being with all of our friends and our family, and it's amazing. But I do think sometimes for me the lack of personal space can be overstimulating.
SPEAKER_00But I think I realize like you we all have different traits of mom and dad, and I didn't realize previously until we've gotten older how much of a um, I don't want to say like a hermit, like how you need like your personal space.
SPEAKER_01I need to be alone to recharge. Yeah, I like being social, but I need to be alone to recharge. But again, I think it's like I'm proactively being like I am in a mindset of there won't be a lot of personal space, and that's okay because I get a lot of personal space during the year, and that's fine. Yeah, it's a jarring switch up though. Totally, and honestly, I just like hate doing laundry, and I do a lot more laundry here than I do at home. And that's no one's fault. There's just lots of tiny bodies. I know it's that, and honestly, I don't like having a disorganized refrigerator. I know I sound like a fucking loser, but like I am I don't actually have OCD. Let me just be clear. I was a dirty gremlin for many years of my life. I was that cat has OCD.
Are You Crusty or Greasy?
SPEAKER_03Have you okay? We played this game on my friend's Bachelorette. That was so funny. Her older sister brought it up, and she was like, Everyone at this table is one of two things. You're either crusty or greasy.
SPEAKER_00And it was fun to How do you define crusty versus greasy?
SPEAKER_03It is in energy. My interpretation of it is it's in the similar camp of you're either dirty or messy. Aaron's probably dirty, but Megan's really messy. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01No, I'm not dirty.
SPEAKER_00I would think the opposite.
SPEAKER_01Aaron's I'm not dirty or messy.
SPEAKER_00Well, you're dirty. You're dirty in your personal hygiene. Like you have one crusty ass bra that you've worn for like 17 years.
SPEAKER_03That's what I mean by that.
SPEAKER_01When I get my boob job, I'm not 37 bras for the lacings.
SPEAKER_03Great. Meg gets kind of dirty and messy. So fucking unfair.
SPEAKER_01We love you though. You can get away with it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, exactly. You're perfect. I'm trying really hard.
SPEAKER_01I know you are. And I see the I you uh do, and I appreciate the effort, but don't try that hard. You're fine, okay? You're fine. We love you as you are. Put your laundry away. Totally. I do sleep just last because Megan's dealing with children. Megan's one of those people that leaves cabinets open in a kitchen. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_03So living with Beth, shout out Beth, my bestie from college. She has really, I would leave the refrigerator door open, doors open.
SPEAKER_00It's an ADD thing. It's really violent. I just don't even understand.
SPEAKER_03She would be like, listen, if you don't start fucking closing shit around here, we're gonna have a problem.
SPEAKER_00I don't blame her. And living with her taught me so much about I never realized the cabinet thing until Toby called me out for it at the end of last summer. And I was like so shocked and appalled by it. I was like, I don't do that, I am so offended by this comment. And then I went back to New York and was like back on our own for a few weeks, and I looked around the kitchen one morning and I'm like, there's six cabinets open, and I was like, Oh my god, I do this.
SPEAKER_03Acceptance is the first step, Meg. It's okay. It's the first step, and you know what? I think there is this thing called being Beth also taught me this term, being considerately clean, where you're not a naturally clean person, but being clean for other people.
SPEAKER_01That's what I am. That's what Toby did to me. I was never clean.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I came back after dropping the kids out from camp and I was like, okay, I have 17 minutes before I need to get on this call. But then I looked around and I was like, oh, it looks a little messy in here. And if mom comes in, she's gonna fucking lose her shit. Right. And so I was like, oh, I could eat breakfast or check some emails and prepare for this call, or I guess I'm gonna clean because I don't want mom to we need some of a little like a do not in progress. Yeah, do not enter. We should really should totally do that.
SPEAKER_03Do not enter. It's like for everyone's well-being.
SPEAKER_00I'll give another example. We usually have the kids who are in cribs down in the basement in the bunk room, but we decided we need to move them upstairs for sleeping arrangements. Toby wasn't able to take apart the crib and move it into one of the bedrooms into the crib. Loser. And so the crib was in the hallway. Idiot. It was on my to-do list for today, but I had this call right after we dropped off the kids from camp that went way, way long. And all of a sudden I hear like a drill and a screwdriver as I'm on this work call. And I text mom, I was like, mom, I was gonna get to the No, no, she's mad at Toby, not you.
SPEAKER_01Don't worry.
SPEAKER_00I was like, I promise it's on my list of to-dos. I needed to do this. I had to work, I had to do this call, and then I will get to it. And she's no, I had a free second. I'm happy to do it.
SPEAKER_03But I'm not mom is gonna start walking around with the tool belt one day.
SPEAKER_01No, mom, mom and I had a long talk about it stuff this morning because we're talking about the whole AC thing, and she's even with my fucking back, like I just had to go do it myself. Like sometimes I just need to do it myself, and I inherit some of that from her.
SPEAKER_00I know I think this is how you burn out and get injured. Either you burn out or you get injured, or both or you do both at the same time. I kept on thinking of mom as like there's a thousand-pound couch, and mom being like, Oh, yeah, I can move this myself. I would do the same thing. I don't need help, I'm just gonna move it myself. And yes, independent women hear me roar, but it's okay to ask for help or require help from other people.
SPEAKER_01Well, sometimes when your husband doesn't get a shit together to do something quickly enough, you just need to do it yourself.
SPEAKER_00Agreed on that too. Yeah. And then you need to train them. Exactly. Um, how to train your dragon.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, should be the next movie in the trilogy. Can we go back to crusty versus greasy? Yes, let me go back to this. That was a good side tangent. Important. Agree.
SPEAKER_01It was important.
SPEAKER_03So define crusty versus greasy. Crusty to me, I think, is more so like you're a little bit crunchy, not in the sense of like earthy granola, but a little bit. It's just you're you have a little bit of like more crusty crusty to you.
SPEAKER_01Do you have less moisture in your face?
SPEAKER_03Maybe it's not all about physic physically.
SPEAKER_00Like you don't change brush every like three months.
SPEAKER_03It would be more greasy to me. Like greasy to me is really like a little bit more dirty, but it's not always the case because cat is more greasy than crusty, I think.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I define creasy, greasy and crusty totally different. I think of crusty as someone who's like a little nasty, like you like you don't change your toothbrush like until like you change your toothbrush once a year. Like you change your sheets like maybe once every two weeks. That's fucking gross. If that's you, that's gross. That's what I think of as crusty. Greasy, I think of as greasy's also it's yeah, it's hard.
SPEAKER_01I think it's a moisture thing. One is dry and disgusting, and one is wet and disgusting.
SPEAKER_03I'm looking at chat right now. I wish I could call up my friend right now and be like, chat. GPT is gonna be like, what the fuck? I just asked.
SPEAKER_01GPT's gonna kick you off.
SPEAKER_03They literally I said crusty versus greasy, and they defined it to me, and I was like, but aura-wise.
SPEAKER_00Crusty is to describe something or someone who's unkept, ragged, or looking extremely tired and messy. Greasy is often used to describe unwashed hair, oily skin, or someone whose vibe or behavior or energy comes across as sleazy, untrustworthy, or trying to do it.
SPEAKER_01No, see, that's too deep. That's slimy. That's slimy.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, let me spin you with a different one. I'm gonna call up my friend and get up a reader friend on this one. I want a friend.
Puka vs. Chain
SPEAKER_03What another version of this that we played in college is Puka versus Chain. It's like either a Puka necklace or a chain necklace. Megan Kelly, for example, is Chain. Aaron, you are a Puka. What? I'm a Puka. Megan, you are so chain, it's not even funny.
SPEAKER_00Like tell me why. Why am I fucking chained?
SPEAKER_03Because you're like New York City bling. Like it's chain. Have you seen like your stompers and slicked ass Bob? You are so am I Puka?
SPEAKER_01Does that mean I'm a lame suburban housewife?
SPEAKER_03No, I'm Puka. Yes. If you're more like again, it's just an energy. No, Erin. If you're prepping, sorry, Aaron.
SPEAKER_00Aaron's on me in my bohemian art outfit. I am so Puka. I'm Puka.
SPEAKER_03And then there are subcategories. Chain wannabe Puka, Puka wannabe Chain. I think your chain wannabe Puka.
SPEAKER_00No, I think I'm Puka. Am I Puka? Am I Puka wanna wanna be chain? I am Puka. I'm Puka at heart. During the year in the city, I'm Chain. I'm Chain hard. But during the summer, I'm Puka. Whatever. Whatever, Megan. I'm like, I'm like, no, I'm like Blue Crush, like Bohemian. No, you're not. In whose world?
SPEAKER_01My world. Do you really want to emulate the fashion of Blue Crush? Yes. Oh. This isn't a Roxy ad. We're not there anymore.
SPEAKER_03Emma Kelly?
SPEAKER_01Chain. Kat is Puka. Kat is Puka.
SPEAKER_03Kat's a little cusp for me, but I guess Puka.
SPEAKER_00Sorry, Claire. How are you Puka and I'm Chain? Totally Puka. I'm so Puka. Are you kidding? What does that mean? Give me more.
SPEAKER_03I'm I'm never like, I don't really wear jewelry. I'm not really with a style.
SPEAKER_00Oh, you're not heading cool.
SPEAKER_01So Chain. You're not like super obsessed with being on trend. I'm just super above it all. Wait, are you saying I'm above it all?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, for sure. Yeah, I'm sure. It's just an essence. It's an energy.
SPEAKER_01So what's Toby? Toby's totally Puka. Right?
SPEAKER_03I think Toby's Puka wannabe Chain. Is this part of him that wants. But I think there is part of him that wants to be like, I'm from Boston. But you're Puka.
SPEAKER_01Like, oh, when he does like whole like blue-collar Tony.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Oh, yeah. Exactly.
SPEAKER_00That's why Puka wanna be chain. James is 10,000% chain.
SPEAKER_01Chain.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Sorry, I forgot about the earring. Of course, Chain.
SPEAKER_00Kellen's Puka.
SPEAKER_03Kellen's Puka.
SPEAKER_00James actually said to me the other day after he had already dyed his hair and done so many drastic changes in a short period of time. He's like, what do you think about a chain?
SPEAKER_01No, he can't wear a chain. I'm so sorry.
SPEAKER_00I was like, James, you're 40 years old. You're not actually Justin Bieber, and we need to hold the phone.
SPEAKER_01To hold.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01We got to stop so I mean Jesse McCartney did perform here on Nantucket last week. He could have gone to that concert for inspiration. I know.
SPEAKER_00I should have. He looked great. And again, I said, like the reason why this works is because it's just like a slight touch of this. If you overdo it, then it looks like you're going through a midlife crisis. So let's not do that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Totally. Joey Chain.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I would have been like Puka. No, you cap.
SPEAKER_03Okay, no cap. No cap means like no lie.
SPEAKER_01No lie. Totally like I'm dead.
SPEAKER_03I'm dead ass serious.
SPEAKER_01I'm dead ass serious, Puka, about Joey.
SPEAKER_03Puka wannabe chain a little bit though. He'll main streets.
SPEAKER_00I think he's Puka Wannabe Chain.
SPEAKER_03He's like soft as fuck. He's soft as fuck, but if you heard him speak on the phone and say, Oh, yo, I thought that was a joke.
SPEAKER_01Is that serious?
SPEAKER_03I think it's semi-serious a little bit.
SPEAKER_01Is it like those kids we grew up with who lived in Wellesley but pretended that they had Boston accents?
SPEAKER_03Those are big old Puka Chains.
SPEAKER_01Puka chains.
SPEAKER_00Sure. That's a great game. I'm gonna bring that to the masses.
SPEAKER_03You should bring it. It's a very fun dinner party activity.
Your Personality as an Etsy Shop
SPEAKER_01That and the whole Etsy shop thing, also a great dinner party conversation.
SPEAKER_00What is the Etsy shop thing? We talked about this. Where it's like if you could start any Etsy shop, what would it be?
SPEAKER_01Emma would have like she'd be like she wouldn't have. Emma would sell her spells. She would sell Etsy Witch. Totally. Etsy witch.
SPEAKER_00For sure.
SPEAKER_01What would I do? I don't know. I'd want to sell really cute glassware.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you would sell cute. I like that's really cute. Or I would give you charm necklaces.
SPEAKER_01Love that. I would love to sell it.
SPEAKER_00I would sell I would sell wood carvings.
SPEAKER_03Megan would sell arts and craft projects.
SPEAKER_01Totally. You would definitely sell arts and crafts projects.
SPEAKER_03Megan would sell her services.
SPEAKER_01What kind of services is she selling?
SPEAKER_03Okay. How do I really are we talking about OnlyFans though? No, no. And now I have to read it.
SPEAKER_01She needs my craft services. No, she'd be like a camp counselor for hire. Totally. You should have seen her at the playground yesterday. Toby and I were like, all right, we're just gonna let it ride.
SPEAKER_03It's really crazy.
SPEAKER_01She was like acquiring like Toby, Jack was like, I'm gonna be here. And I was like, fuck off, Jack. Go leave me alone. And Megan's like, okay, you want to play mouse and kitten? No.
SPEAKER_00I said what it's called. Wolf, like the wolf chases the mice. And I didn't, I don't know what compels me.
SPEAKER_01It's it's really, I think people would find joy in that, or are you just trying to survive?
SPEAKER_00No, I weirdly do because I have such core memories of playing these little games.
SPEAKER_01Who? What the what adult?
SPEAKER_00Don't you remember playing like Red Rover at the McManimas? Don't you remember like all the older kids playing that in their backyard? I remember this.
SPEAKER_01I was probably spouting in a corner and it was not playing Red Rover.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but I remember this, and I just feel like kids these days don't know all these fun imaginative games. But again, I'm not letting them be bored, and so it's all counterintuitive.
SPEAKER_01No, I'm complimenting you. You were so lovely, and I just was like, I wish I could get on your level with this shit, but. I don't want to play tech.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's totally fine. I actually enjoyed it. But then so many kids started. We were acquiring random children. And then and then the parents, I'm like, I'm not responsible for your trauma.
SPEAKER_01No, I think the parents felt bad because their kids were like, wow, you're way out than my mom or dad. They did want to.
SPEAKER_00And I felt bad. I was like, I'm not trying to make you feel bad. I'm just trying to entertain my children right now.
SPEAKER_03Kind of a flex, though.
SPEAKER_01Total flex. Toby and I were like, okay. I was like, hold my bag.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Hold my bag. Hold my bag. Why I go chase like 14 straight.
SPEAKER_01Okay, can I just say one PSA though?
I Am Terrified of Ticks
SPEAKER_01I saw some pictures of ticks yesterday. I was with a bunch of people at this birthday party, and they were saying their kids were rolling around in regular grass, fully clothed, and they found ticks.
SPEAKER_03Okay, someone needs to check me for ticks, honestly. And they're tiny.
SPEAKER_01They were like, we found ticks.
SPEAKER_00We have to be so careful about the tick thing, is like I can't think of anything worse than losing my ability to eat ice cream or red meat.
SPEAKER_01I know. Maybe that's why Belle's such a psychopath.
SPEAKER_03It could be. It could have fucked with her brain space. Totally.
SPEAKER_01I'd be psychotic if I couldn't eat red meat.
SPEAKER_03I'm a little scared that when I was peeing in the dunes the other day, like there could have been a ticket.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you gotta check up all in there. Like our friend found it in like her daughter's bum area because Okay, fuck my life. Like three ticks. And she was like, We did we like didn't check, and then our friends texted us and were like, hey, and then the next day we checked, and they were like, I'm like, wait, this is terrifying.
SPEAKER_00So Alpha Gal is like a real thing on Martha's Vineyard in Nantucket, and honestly, everywhere in these tick-borne illnesses. Honestly, Alpha Gal Have you seen poor Bella Hadid? It's so hard because people I just assume she's by no, I think people don't understand how horrible Lyme's disease is, and there are some people I know who think that it's not real. I guess who shall remain anonymous that person shall remain anonymous for their safety. I'm really scared. I how do I anyway?
SPEAKER_01I don't mean to scare you. We just need to check. And should we get tick spray? I think we should get tick spray.
SPEAKER_00Yes, I already ordered it. I already ordered, I need to pick it up. And I have the tick model which we need to wipe everyone down with.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we gotta start doing that.
SPEAKER_03How would I know what it looks like on my skin though? That is giving me really bad examples. It's not gonna look like that. I don't know. I'll send you pictures. It's so small. What if these splinters I think that I have are actually ticks? That would suck.
SPEAKER_01Honestly. Hold on. I'm trying to find it. Oh, here we go. I'll send you the pictures, but they're like tiny.
unknownOh fuck. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I feel terrified by that. That's really sorry. I don't mean to be doomsday on you.
SPEAKER_03No, it's important to do that. Did you watch World War Z last night? No, are you kidding? We went to bed at dawn. Um I keep on saying that. Megan, what were you saying?
SPEAKER_00How do I feel about oh no, I just saw something funny that said the Upper East Side is the new West Village, the West Village is the new Murray Hill. Oh, truly.
SPEAKER_01I think it's West Village is the new Murray Hill.
SPEAKER_03I'm not really hanging in these streets of West Village anymore. I love the West Village. West Village is a little bit more. I do too. I love the West Village.
SPEAKER_00Hudson Street is where it's at, but I went to a friend's apartment party in the West Village the other night before we came out here. And it was popping. Like the amount of people on Greenwich Ab, it was electric. And it made me really miss the
Walk Down Memory Lane: NYC Edition
SPEAKER_00days. Aaron and I had such a fun post-college New York experience. Remember what was the bar above Bell Book and Handle or Bell Book and Candle? Oh my god.
SPEAKER_03Oh my god, there was a bar above Bell Book and Candle.
SPEAKER_01Oh, it was a bar. It was an awesome restaurant. It was a restaurant.
SPEAKER_03You know that's an apartment now.
SPEAKER_01It's an apartment now? It's an apartment complex. Oh god.
SPEAKER_00I mean, that's one of my clearest stories.
SPEAKER_01DeSantis. It was DeSantis.
SPEAKER_00Wow. It was called DeSantis.
SPEAKER_01Well like Kingswood before it was freaking Rosemary's anymore.
SPEAKER_00It's now happiest hour, but before happiest hour was called Kingswood. And we used to go to Kingswood.
SPEAKER_01Claire's eyes are glazing over right now.
SPEAKER_00Sorry. And then the Windsor. No, no, no, any years. And then the Windsor, which is now Fairfax. No, the Windsor Due West. It's the corner. Nope, you're wrong.
SPEAKER_01Whatever. St.
SPEAKER_02Jardine or whatever?
SPEAKER_01I don't even know anymore. I didn't live there in years. What's your favorite?
SPEAKER_00Oh no, Aaron, Dew West used to be Diablo Royale.
unknownThank you.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_03Fairfax is on the corner next to Dew West.
SPEAKER_00The same owner as Joseph Leonard's. Anyway, sorry, that's our data. But it just like core New York.
SPEAKER_01No, but so all this food is making you think of like your ideal summer meal. Go, Claire.
SPEAKER_03Mom shrimp scampi really speaks to me deeply.
SPEAKER_01Totally.
SPEAKER_03And I know it's we can kind of have it whenever, but specifically in the summer, it's just so good. Or like steak turf and turf type vibes. I love.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, that's good. And a big old cheese board. A cheese board. And a good peach.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I've really had a peach before.
SPEAKER_00So what? We've never had a peach before.
SPEAKER_03The texture scares me.
SPEAKER_00What?
SPEAKER_03It's like the remnants of my weirdest thing.
SPEAKER_01Weird.
SPEAKER_00I haven't gotten to all the fruits yet.
SPEAKER_01Hopefully, like one day Peach Truck can sponsor this podcast.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, Peach Truck, do you hear us? We love your peaches.
SPEAKER_01We love your peaches. Your peaches are perfect. Please sponsor us.
SPEAKER_00Aaron, what's your ideal summer meal?
SPEAKER_01Probably like the same things that you all said. I'm trying to think if there's one restaurant situation. I love a good oyster. Don't have those a lot in the off season, but I don't know. Probably what you just said.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, surf and turf.
SPEAKER_01Surf and turf. A good peach. I'm a simple woman.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01Chicken salad from Bartlett's. Oh, with a tortilla chip. Yep. That's oh my god. I'm going to shout out. Pip and Inchor salads. Oh, I'm going there tomorrow. I'm getting myself one. Insane. Oh my god, the Chinese chicken salad. Oh my god, it gets incredible. The best thing I've ever tasted in. And then the oh my god, there's the chopped one. So good. Oh my god. I'm so excited. Wait, I can't wait to try.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I'm gonna get that tomorrow.
SPEAKER_01Well, we had a photo shoot here in the fall.
SPEAKER_03We ate that every day and
Strawberry Moon & Astrology Obsession
SPEAKER_03it was amazing. The last thing I wanted to make sure people were aware of was the strawberry moon tonight.
SPEAKER_01Oh yes, my period app.
SPEAKER_03You guys would be really into this. Wait, is that where I'm in the period? Or what's happening? No, no. So the strawberry moon, I guess it has a pinkish tint to it. This moon symbolizes growth, abundance, and the sweet reward of patience and hard work. It's a powerful time to let go of what no longer serves you and welcome new blessings. Apparently, it's a huge moon for manifesting and writing things down and trying to channel new beginnings. So that's what this new moon is meant for.
SPEAKER_00I love that.
SPEAKER_03What this moon, getting honest with yourself, what or who is depleting your energy? The time is to address it now. Reflect on your progress over the past six months. You've come further than you think. Speak your truth without fear.
SPEAKER_01I like that. So I just want to be a co-star, and it's so accurate sometimes.
SPEAKER_03I know it's really crazy. What does it say today?
SPEAKER_01Life is a process of constantly letting go. Today's frustrations aren't about poor playing, they're about your inability to release control. Drop your exhaustion standards. The world won't collapse if you let something remain unfinished.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00I have to say, I feel I got a new phone, and you know how you have to relog into everything. I can't get into mattering for some reason. Oh, this is really disorienting. But Astrobella honestly has been amazing.
SPEAKER_01Should I do Astrobella? I'm using Stardust for my period tracker, and it has some woo-woo shit on there, which I obviously love. Really?
SPEAKER_03Co-star is telling me that my body craves movement and my mind demands freedom. And then I'm so happy for that.
SPEAKER_01Love that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Something to think about. Something to totally think about.
SPEAKER_00I'll have to record back on mine once I get into my.
SPEAKER_03You know how you can get friend updates? Aaron's today says Aaron's type of paranoia means they don't know why they haven't been cancelled already.
SPEAKER_01Honestly. Pretty accurate. Wait. Yeah, Claire, sometimes I see yours. Where are you? Don't agree with that.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_01To you, friendship is a frenemy. See, this is when sometimes Coastar is.
SPEAKER_00If I were to rate it, I think it's pattern astrobella co star. CoStar is they need to have a lot of people. Should I get rid of CoStar?
SPEAKER_01When I was like in a like really vulnerable place, I paid for whatever the extra 50 bucks was on CoStar to like tell you your future.
SPEAKER_03Aaron, I've done the same shit. Megan, it's companies are genius. You and Meagles have a lot to give. If you feel extra affection for Meagles, there's a good chance they are feeling the same way about you.
SPEAKER_00I feel like you and I have a lot of creative energy and we can create powerful things right now.
SPEAKER_03I believe that as well. I love that.
SPEAKER_00Wait, let's see what Mine says really quick. I finally got my coaster running. Stop giving me these microscopies.
SPEAKER_01Should I pay for your year ahead again? Oh my god.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I paid big time for my year ahead. Are you kidding?
SPEAKER_01Unlock for $11.99.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I paid that. I paid that $11.99.
SPEAKER_01I want to start a fucking horoscope app.
SPEAKER_00I'll make a gazillion dollars.
SPEAKER_03100%.
SPEAKER_00I got I got I'll never forget getting pitched by Ghostar. And we considered it seriously, but we ended up saying no. But like, how's the company doing? I don't know if like the CEO remains or what's going on. But listen, I think there is a market for this. Like, I do, I really do. Really? We're all talking about it right now. You just have to be go to the right investors who believe in it. Okay. Oh, you are not a consolation prize. Stop making excuses for people who put you last. Their actions speak plainly. You're the backup, not the priority. Your worth isn't measured by how much mistreatment you can endure. Walk away, better alone than someone's second choice. Not really, but I just feel empowered by it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's beautiful. That's totally um. I have a question. Yeah. Do you guys get scared sleeping here? Because alright, I'm just hearing.
SPEAKER_01Because we're not in the same house as mom and dad.
SPEAKER_03That's an interesting point. That is an interesting point.
SPEAKER_01You can walk about three feet across the yard and there you leave.
SPEAKER_03I hear even at home. Wellesley, I do not sleep well in that house.
SPEAKER_00There is an adjustment going from living in a city where you're like, oh, I have a doorman and I'm generally protected in my apartment building, versus going to a house where you're like, it's up to us. It's all up.
SPEAKER_03And it's like my apartment building.
SPEAKER_00The odds would have to be so not in my favor for it to be my apartment selected that it feels like I but I also have confidence in Aaron and my level of like psychotic craziness that if anyone was dumb enough to enter our space, like we would chop them up. Also, Bell squeak for the biggest. I think I'd be really scared if I'm being honest.
SPEAKER_03I don't think so. I'm so scared.
SPEAKER_00Bell sweep for four seconds last night, and we were both up like in a flash at the littlest sound at two in the morning.
SPEAKER_01I'm so sorry. She's so annoying.
SPEAKER_00No, I'm just saying, like, we're both.
SPEAKER_01I wonder how they're gonna sleep tonight. They were like terrifyingly easy. That's so good. They're really so excited. I am too.
SPEAKER_03I didn't see Charlie today, but Belle came over for a second and she was good. She seemed chill.
SPEAKER_01Mom said that she actually listened when mom told her it was time to leave. She did.
SPEAKER_03She said, okay. And just went like a little bit of a little bit of a little sauntered away.
SPEAKER_00Meanwhile, Charlie's like, I'm just happy to be here, everyone. Thanks for having me. He's the sweetest boy. Thank you.
SPEAKER_01We read Dinosaur Supermarket and he was so happy.
SPEAKER_00Oh, he must have been. We didn't eat dinner. I didn't, oh, I didn't eat dinner. I ate a bunch of French fries. I'm fucking starving.
SPEAKER_01I'm so hungry now that I think about it, but I'm also too tired to get out of bed.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's the difference between you and me. I'll probably go down and eat some chips or something.
SPEAKER_01But I don't want to brush my teeth again.
SPEAKER_00Oh, see, this is okay. I'm not gonna even say it. Say it. Say it. Sometimes sometimes you're gonna fall like I'm too tired. That's why you're dirty. Sometimes if I'm like too tired, I'll use mouthwash instead of brushing my teeth. Because I'm just like, I'll do it in the morning.
SPEAKER_03It's okay. You don't have to say that you use mouthwashing too.
SPEAKER_01I just sometimes, if like I come home and I'm tired enough and like I was out to dinner, like probably at least twice a year, I'll just go to bed without brushing my teeth. I'm like, more than that, but I'm just saying I try and buy it. But I won't even bother with if you can make the effort to do the mouthwash, why can't you just brush your teeth?
SPEAKER_00It doesn't matter. What about with makeup? Sometimes I'm like, I'm just gonna use a makeup remover wipe and I'll get the rest of the morning. Yeah, I'm crusty.
SPEAKER_03You're sleeping in that makeup.
SPEAKER_00You're sleeping in the makeup. I know, but I use such minimal makeup. It's tinted moisturizer, it's barely any makeup.
SPEAKER_03You're lucky your skin looks the way it does. Totally. It looks very good, regardless of you.
SPEAKER_00I have to say, I think you guys actually got me, and another friend got me a gift card to the Greenwich Hotel Spa. I went there and I got a lymphatic drainage facial. The woman was trained in Japan, trained in Japan to do this. She's okay, I'm gonna do one side of your face and show you, and then I'll do the other side of your face. It literally looked like I lost 10 pounds in one side of my face.
SPEAKER_03It was one of my friends gets them regularly, and I want to get on it so bad. I've never gotten one. I'm dying to do it.
SPEAKER_00It was truly insane how snatched my face looked after she did this, and I was like, sign me the fuck up for this.
SPEAKER_03I know a girl who had someone come to their apartment the night before their wedding and gave them a lymphatic drainage massage.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that doesn't shock me. Which is kind of genius. You do it before big events because it, you know, you get it rid of all the water weight. And I did this is what I did right after I had Charlie. I got lymphatic drainage. Also, it clears all the toxins from your body. I've never gotten it. Yeah, I want to get it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I want to get it. Aaron's about to fall asleep. I want to get
TBLs: Trying, Buying, Loving
SPEAKER_01okay.
SPEAKER_00We may not have enough energy for all of our TBLs, but any TBLs this week?
SPEAKER_01I've just been through such a buying spree.
SPEAKER_03I bought a new computer. What kind of computer? I replaced my book from 2020 that was riddled with viruses and I couldn't use, so I finally replaced it on Prime Day. Did you know you can order laptops off of Amazon? Nope.
SPEAKER_04Didn't I do it?
SPEAKER_03I love it. I'm using it right now, it's really great. I'm enjoying it a lot. Okay, that's nice. Um that's my big purchase.
SPEAKER_01That's your big purchase.
SPEAKER_00Well, for me, I would say one thing that I'm trying, and this is more so for the kids, is on the idea of give them things that they can create, pretend, play with. I got sponges, spray bottles, and scrub brushes. And what we'll do is we just fill like a big clear bucket with water, and they can just go to town and give them some soap, and they just go to town and they can clean their cars, they can clean the animals, they can clean the outside of the house, like whatever it is. It's like non-destructive and it entertains them for a while. So I would recommend that to people this summer if they're looking for kids' entertainment. I was influenced by the Hailey Bieber skims campaign, and I brought bought one of their bras. Oh, wait, was that the picture of her cute butt? Yes. Send me the bras. Yeah, and then also that I that this is a future try. And if someone could who listens to the pod could report back with their feedback or uh recommendation, can someone give me some like non-toxic underwear? I'm like getting really nervous that I'm wearing like forever chemical. Should we not stress about the underwear?
SPEAKER_01If you're gonna be stressed about the underwear, then you should be stressed about all your workout clothes.
SPEAKER_00I know, but I'm getting stressed about it. And I have a great friend who's already given me a ton of links. Shout out, Caroline, for all the information on living a non-toxic life, but the underwear, I haven't quite found that. So I need that.
SPEAKER_01Just don't wear underwear like me. Don't wear underwear 95% of the time because I'm always in workout pants.
SPEAKER_03I can't do that.
SPEAKER_01You wear underwear with your workout clothes? Your spandex, you wear underwear?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I wear like the workout underwear.
SPEAKER_01What's workout underwear?
SPEAKER_03What's workout underwear? It's like the stretchy underwear where it's like seamless.
SPEAKER_01Isn't that all underwear? That's the only underwear I own. What other underwear do you want to do?
SPEAKER_03Oh, you're never wearing like hanky pankies these days. I wear like hanky pinky or it's like late.
SPEAKER_00Why are you wearing underwear to a workout? That's bad. You're not supposed to do that.
SPEAKER_03I don't like you need a separation between church and state.
SPEAKER_00I do. I do.
SPEAKER_03I'm like some things to be separated.
SPEAKER_01Oh no, but okay.
SPEAKER_03It's bad for you. You're not supposed to do that.
SPEAKER_00I don't know.
SPEAKER_03I don't wear underwear to bed.
SPEAKER_01Who the fuck wears underwear to bed?
SPEAKER_03Some people wear underwear to bed.
SPEAKER_01That's fucked up.
SPEAKER_03Do you wear underwear to bed, Megan?
SPEAKER_00No, I don't. Although we had a funny dinner party conversation of what do you wear? What do you wear to bed? I have one friend who wears like a full gray sweatsuit to bed. I know who the friends without even having to say it. Yeah, totally. And then another friend who wears a top but no bottom, which to me is like diabolical. I do that sometimes. My regular is I usually wear either like boxer, my own like girl boxer shorts or like boxer brief, girl boxer briefs, and either nothing on top or like a big t-shirt.
SPEAKER_01See, to me, the act of putting on pajamas is like taking Tylenol. It's a waste of time, if that makes sense.
SPEAKER_00I'm like at the end of my naked, I don't say full.
SPEAKER_01I I can't be fucking bothered to put on pajamas. So I can't sleep nude or in a robe.
SPEAKER_03I don't like sleeping nude because I'm like creeping. You sleep in a robe. What if there's a bug in my bed?
SPEAKER_01I sleep in a robe.
SPEAKER_03No, I can't. I I can't. But I love getting really clean and then putting on a fresh pair of pajamas. There's nothing that go ahead.
SPEAKER_00No, sorry, just on getting really clean. There's nothing that drives James more crazy. He has to take a shower before he gets in bed. He must shower before he's done. No. Like, I'm gonna go home and take a shower. That's it's so late. He finds that diabolical that I don't do that. I just I need to wash it. Sometimes, but not all the time.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Well, if I, for example, like if I had just showered before dinner, I wouldn't shower again unless I went outside. But I don't feel the need to do that as much here because we're not in the city.
SPEAKER_00So that's another I think that tells a lot about someone's personality is like what are they wearing to bed.
SPEAKER_01So that's I can give you an example of where I'm kind of like dirty but not messy. Like sometimes I'll take a sauna, not often and I'm like, I didn't sweat enough. So I'm just gonna not shower before I go to bed.
SPEAKER_00That is fucking disgusting.
SPEAKER_03That's not it. Nasty. Like working from home, I'll stay in my workout clothes for like the majority of the day because I'm like, I'm gonna be like whatever. I do that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and if it's not a hard workout, that's whatever.
SPEAKER_03But no, Emma, our sister Emma has gotten me really into pajama sets. She keeps offering me pajama sets on.
SPEAKER_01Oh, maybe I should just have Emma get me some stuff and I'll pay her back.
SPEAKER_03Oh my gosh, it's really life-changing. She's gotten me into a bunch of jams sets.
SPEAKER_00I just wear all the jammies that mom gets us for Christmas still.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Even though we're approaching the room.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I have to say, I always wearing a floral floor-length rope.
SPEAKER_00How does it get more homely than that? Although, again, I will give a shout out to the negative brands there like Henley. That's like I've been dying to buy that.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I'll get the sexy but comfortable once I have boobs. I'm going to go.
SPEAKER_00You don't need boobs. You just need your little French boobies.
SPEAKER_01No, they have to be good shape.
SPEAKER_00Um, well, guys, thank you so much for joining us.
SPEAKER_01Wait, I didn't get to share what I've bought and I've bought these things lately.
SPEAKER_00Please lay it on us.
SPEAKER_01I would like to say that I bought the Emmy Parsons pool sandals, and I think they're great. I've already fucking trashed them in. I've had them for two days, but it's totally Parsons. Great shoes. I'm sure it's in the more sophisticated way than this, but whatever.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, I see these.
SPEAKER_01They're cute, they're very comfortable.
SPEAKER_00I'm also gonna get that rope necklace that you mentioned last week on the pod.
SPEAKER_01I got so many compliments on it today, and I was like, it was not that expensive. And by not that expensive, I mean it was cheap. Very well priced, great designs. Love this woman wherever she is. I think she's in New York.
SPEAKER_00Aaron, can you say the name of the brand so everyone knows what we're talking about?
SPEAKER_01I am trying to remember it. Lane Lawrence of A Laney. Lani. Lani? Lani? Wait, hold on. Let me Google it. Laney Wilson. Isn't that a musician? No, it's Lacey Ryan.
SPEAKER_00Lacey Ryan. Thank you. Totally close. Great. Lacey Ryan Jewelry. Lacey Ryan Jewelry.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's been a good purchase. I like they're fun little summer necklaces. I can't wait to buy mine. So cute. And then I can't even remember all the other things I wanted to tell you guys about. So I'll just wait till next time. But I will say I did buy these shorts for the boys, the baseball shorts with the sprinkles. Oh, those are so cute. I loved those. What's it called? I think the company's called baseball shorts or something. It's not very imaginative. Sounds like HUD named it. It's called baseball lifestyle. Yes, correct.
SPEAKER_00It does sound like he in terms of summer supplies. I stayed up till like 10:30 looking up cookout beach cookout tables. And so I ordered the Cape God Beach Chair Company Teak Tables. I am so freaking pumped for them to come.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I can't wait.
SPEAKER_00And I bought more beach chairs today.
SPEAKER_03Oh, thank you. That's nice. We needed those.
SPEAKER_01Totally.
SPEAKER_00I love Island Variety, but I gotta say, it is egregiously priced. Like agreed. You bought them at Island Variety? I somehow spent like $500 at Island Variety today. What the fuck is wrong with you, Megan? I don't know.
SPEAKER_03We don't have a problem with that. Kat and I went to a pharmacy today. It's like one of those new ones, Acetra. No idea. Okay, I don't usually go to it. Guess how much they charge me for tweezers?
SPEAKER_01$25.
SPEAKER_03$20. Insane. For a CVS pair of tweezers.
SPEAKER_00And I want to support local businesses, but the discrepancy between what you're charging and what's being charged on Amazon or Target is just insane.
SPEAKER_01Today I bought a Wiffleball bat and one of those with the thing at the end of it. The Nerf football. Not even Nerf Football, whatever. I guess this wasn't that egregious, but like just guess how much? 30 bucks. For one bat? About that, yeah. But like for that plastic back probably cost one cent to make.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, probably. That's really upsetting.
SPEAKER_04I know.
SPEAKER_01And honestly, all the other kids were playing with it by the time we left, and I was just gonna leave it there. And Jack was mom, we need to get our stuff and bring it all back with us.
SPEAKER_00I was like, you know what? You're right. So we can add it to our graveyard of like 14,000 woofle ball bats in the grass.
SPEAKER_01Correct, exactly correct.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, for sure. Okay, it's gonna be a Wofleball summer. I'm excited. Waffle Ball summer. I love it. Bring it back. Last parting comment, we must have the kids watch Sandlot this summer. It is a cool summer movie. I love it. Jack loves Sandlot, so does Huddy. Oh my god, I would love to watch Sandwich.
SPEAKER_01It's such a good movie, by the way.
SPEAKER_00We should do like an outdoor like movie theater situation where we get one of those inflatable projector things. Totally.
SPEAKER_03Mom will kill you.
SPEAKER_00I'm definitely hanging.
SPEAKER_03She just get a projector.
SPEAKER_01Those are very active on Instagram. Who the great Hambino.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah, I love him.
SPEAKER_01Love him. And Hamage has all those really cute Sandlot t-shirts, Megan. Have you seen those? What is this? Homage. H-O-M-A-G-E. All the sports t-shirts. Like they're super soft and sweatshirts.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay. I'll have to check this out. That's so cute.
SPEAKER_01Anyway, I know we're all about to perish because we're very tired.
SPEAKER_03We are. And I'm not gonna lie, I'm gonna catch up. I'm not talking about ticks.
SPEAKER_01Oh shoot, did I stress you out about the ticks?
SPEAKER_03No, I just feel like I need to check myself a little bit.
SPEAKER_01Make sure you check your anus.
SPEAKER_03I gotta figure out how to do that.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god, you are on you are on well. No, she's just airing that you where it was told some of them were found. I'm like, I am unwelcome to be terrified. All right, I gotta find a hand. Am I allowed to say anus on air?
SPEAKER_00I didn't really want to say it before because you're saying how fucking small these ticks are that you just sent. I don't know how I'm gonna see it.
SPEAKER_03One of you might have to check my butt.
SPEAKER_01I will check your butt for you. That's what's this would be for. That's what commune living is for.
SPEAKER_00It's for. We'll be like little monkeys who like pick them off of each other. Yeah, totally.
SPEAKER_01Disgusting, but yeah.
SPEAKER_00Wait, now I'm scared. Oh my god, I don't want this disease.
SPEAKER_03You can't be letting your dog sleep with you this summer. I'm serious. I know.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you actually cannot. I know. That's a whole other stress I have to deal with.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Crop off that time. Yeah, you're gonna go to the show. That's for another day.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. All right, gals. This is lovely.
SPEAKER_03Love my girls.
SPEAKER_01Love y'all.
SPEAKER_03Love y'all so much.
SPEAKER_01See you in about 12 hours. Probably more like eight.
SPEAKER_03See y'all. Hi. Love you.
