Dank by Definition, New York-based company started in 2022 by experts in the cannabis and hospitality industries. Also known as HBI Canna.

As far as Sour OG, it is a 50-50 hybrid of OG Kush and Sour Diesel. Some people also say uh blueberries in there somewhere. Terps are caryophylline, lemonine, linolule, and mercine. Effects are relaxed, happy, and talkative. Flavors are diesel, pungent, and earthy. And as far as THC content, Leafly says 22%. All Bud says 13 to 17%. And our friends at Dank say 32%.

It broke big enough that there was enough for maybe one more after we used it for what we needed.

How did it look, Skip? Medium size, supple buds, dark greens with brown pistols and gold tricombs. Very strong diesel notes. Very strong.

And it was purchased, or I should say, it was packaged four months ago, and it had a boost pack, which we like to mention when we find that because we always like to encourage companies to carry them or something like them. Yeah. I think we're ready to smoke this, Kip. We're ready. Let's do it. Let's do it. Okay, first impressions. Definitely getting the diesel in the pungent, even getting a touch of chem in there.

Before lighting. Um, it's it's it's not super loud, but when you look for it, it's like pow right in the face. Yeah. Same thing. Classic, classic, like sour diesel pull. Yeah. So it takes that from like the sour diesel parent. All right, let's light it. Oh, I got the earthy right there in the first poll. All right, so it hit all three notes. Definitely having that sour diesel kind of thing going on. So Dank is a subsidiary of HPI Cana, which is in Poughkeepsie. Um, and they were founded in 2022. Um, and yes, uh supposedly the people who founded Dank by definition are experts in can't not only cannabis, but hospitality. Yeah, hotels and stuff. So that's interesting. And uh, you know, as far as Dank in New York, their presence here in New York, they offer arguably the largest selection of choices of any growers in New York. Like they usually have like just it will make you dizzy, the amount of strains that they have. And um we we always seem to think that we can't we finally cornered it and then find out like there's like a dozen more. So we we already know that it's uh it's a kick a quixotic mission to like cover all the dank products. And we tried, trust me. Oh, trust me. We we gave it the good old college try. And uh, you know, dank is very ubiquitous in the in many dispensaries, most dispensaries actually. Um they're usually very out there, you know, because they usually have a very loud presentation.

Black bags, black jars with loud colors. The colors are, you know, every strain has a different color and a lot of um foil and shiny and you know, really cool stuff. Cool packaging. Nice marketing. Um, it also has a huge variation in prices. Uh, you can I've seen dang products be as low as$37,$38. I've seen it be as high as$60 something dollars. So it's a huge variation depending on a lot of factors. Is it bottled, is it in a mylar bag? Yeah, what's the size? What's the what's the strain?

Um there is just a huge variation. In fact, I wonder how they decide. What's getting put out? That's a good question. And how much and what's going in the bottle, what's going in the mylar bag. Right.

Because many dispensaries have all those sizes available, but not the same one.

Right. They're usually very uniform. So, like if they all have 3.5 ounces, it's all gonna be in the same medium. Whereas there, you could get 3.5 ounces in a jar, you can get 3.5 ounces in a bag, you could get it's just some it's dizzing the array of choices that you have from Dank. Um, so it's burning pretty quickly. I'm already approaching my first third. Yeah, uh, let's look at the effects. Relaxed? A little bit, yeah. A little bit. Uh happy? I'm very happy to be here.

Yeah, I'm always talkative, so I don't know if I'm a good uh a good indicator of of that effect. I can I can also agree that I feel a little more relaxed. I'm feeling a little fogginess in the brain. Um, let's see. Physically, no, not really feeling anything physically yet. Um and yeah, let's see where it goes.

It's not very thick, the smoke, you know. So uh it's kind of uh it doesn't smoke like sour diesel.

Sour diesel is a bit more aggressive and with a milkier texture, yeah. So it's like a uh kind of like a sour diesel light, yeah. Which is weird because OG is not a light. Right. Another thing that's different about this one, uh usually, at least in my experience, dang products are very um taste-centric. Yeah. So in other words, you know, they they want to make it that you're not gonna cough a lot, that it tastes really good. Yeah. And you know, I think they they aim that for like the the you know the casual consumer. Um, and this one is no, it has a kind of a harsh taste. They didn't they didn't jazz it up, you know, or sweeten it up. True that. Um and the smoke is harsh. Yeah. So that's that's unusual for a dang product. Uh so I guess this is for like the real potheads.

Because you would expect that if you were looking to smoke a sour diesel or an OG cushion. You're not gonna expect something that tastes like candy, right? That's gonna taste really fake to you right away.

A little roughness is is tolerable when it comes to the cushions and the diesels. It would be interesting to see their growing facilities. Right? All these strains.

All the different strains. How do they do it? All these rooms. How do they do it? How do they keep track of all that? How do they make sure it doesn't crossbreed or you know, like accidentally and things like that? I guess that's when we get the new strain, right? Oops, they crossbred. Oh, well, here's a new strain. Where are you at so far, Skip?

Yeah, it's burning pretty quickly, and the high is there, it's like a slow high. You know, I keep looking for like the big uplifting, and I'm starting to realize that even in my speech patterns, a little slow down, man.

Yeah, I'm at the halfway point already, and it is burning super fast. Um and it's crazy because it's it was supple, it was not dry. Yeah, so that's nothing to do with that. It's just I guess burning quickly, that's all. Uh let's get to the effects. So relaxed. Yeah, yeah. Happy?

Yeah, not more than usual, but could be talkative.

Not so much. Yeah, it's we're getting the relaxed, we're getting a generalized feeling. Um, it's not that strong as far as I am concerned.

You know, I'm finding myself taking deep pulls, and it's because I'm starting to realize the absence of any live terps. Like I don't I don't taste no greens, no, no, nothing.

Oh no, I taste it. I taste it. Yeah, yeah, I taste the I taste the diesel, but it's a lot lighter now. I taste the earthy. What went away was the pungent. Like I'm getting a little Cam and I'm getting a little earthy. Uh but yeah, that's that's pretty much all I'm getting. I get it. I only like the scratchiness in the throat.

No, no. I'm getting a general fogginess in the frontal and middle lobes of my brain. Uh so it is starting to hit me. Maybe a slight numbness in the face and forehead and the nose area, tip of my nose. Um is it like am I high, high? No. No, no. This feels more like something that you can do like after work when you know you don't want to knock out, you don't want to go to sleep, but it like you're kind of in chill mode. You just got home and you just like want to relax and watch your favorite show or play your favorite game or something like that. So you don't want to be distracted, you want to be awake, but at the same time, you want to be high, and this seems like something good for that. Yeah, and the high is a lot enough that it can keep you in the present, you know. Right, like you could say, hey, I'm high, but you can also be functional and you know, I guess that's why they also said talkative, because you can be social with this. Like I don't feel it constraining me in any way, right? I just feel that there's a high there. Um, and it's you know, it's it exists, it's in the in the place, right? Uh but you know, you're not gonna get smacked, at least so far. I still got a a third left to go. Yeah, so and relaxed, yes. Uh you can argue talkative, but I'm a talk, I'm a talkative person, period. So I don't know if you can say that with me. And as far as Skip, no, I don't see him talking more than normal. So I'm gonna say no. Yeah, and happy, yeah. That's that one's not happening. I don't know how about you, Skip.

Yeah, it's like an one of those kind of right, yeah. It's like when I was uh a younger uh, you know, professor, and I used to hang out after work or school or whatever, and you know, it was it's a this would have been a nice chill one for that. Yeah, nice little turn down. Hang out outside until the evening hours when it starts to get dark, and then turn in, and that's when you go home for dinner. It's like you know, perfect for that segue into the night. Right. Uh that's basically what I would use it for.

And being the you know, the absence of taste would allow it to pair pretty well with something to drink, you know, like it wouldn't clash with anything. A nice libation. Yeah. Oh, even a coffee. Got a little silent there. I don't know about that talk it is, huh? Looking for words, you know, I'm looking through the noses like something witty to say.

It it is, you know, it it has settled into a smooth smoke. So the harshness kind of kind of smoothed out the edges.

Um, as I'm in my last third, which usually should be the harshest phase. And uh like I said earlier, the pungent is gone. Now it's more diesel, earthy kinda. Earthy is the exhale. A lot of um is there um um, right?

Are you feeling but let's just start off like coming from me from my just finished? You're right over there? Yeah, man. That last pull, yeah, yeah. That kind of pulling a little high. Oh, that's nice. Yeah. That's nice. I mean a little stratosphere there. That's real nice. Nice little thing, man. And it'd be nicer if it would roll on through the hour. That would be nicer, yeah.

No taste, so you know it it doesn't back you off. So you smoke it fast, deep pull. But the hype is nice.

Alright, so now that's I'm rolling into my just finished, and yeah, I'm pretty much feeling the same thing. I'm you know the relaxes there. Uh the other the other effects, no, not really feeling them. So just sitting here wondering if it's gonna get higher. Hopefully it ascends a little bit. And uh yeah, as of right now, it's kind of a low grade kind of chill feel. Um, something that feels like it's not gonna distract you if you wanna do something else.

Uh, but if you're if you wanted to sit around and be smacked, yeah, it's probably not the one for you. At least as of right now. So I guess we'll see in an hour if it improves or what happens. See you guys in an hour.

Well, I am definitely in post status. Um, it was never really uh any, it didn't go past where it was when I uh put out the J. Uh, so it was very low grade experience. Uh and yeah, it didn't get any higher than that. There was no ascending. It actually calmly went down. Uh the hour basically was uh, you know, me doing stuff and sometimes forgetting that the high was there. Uh it's only when I would turn and say, wait, am I still high? And then it'd be like, Oh, yeah, there's something there. Uh, but as far as anything other than that, not really. Okay, so yes, it's uh old school feel, but it was like that low-grade old school feel. How about you, Skid?

Yeah, definite deep calm down, you know, uh a lot of remnants feeling, even through a little bit uh certain parts of the body, which is which is new. And uh a little bit of like uh tiredness. You know, it might be construed as relaxed, but I see it as tiredness, you know, even in my voice, you can kind of hear that. Um but the high is low, which is not bad. It's a nice high. It's a nice high. Well, to emphasize what you just said, I was yawning as you said. Ah, you see, it has that effect there. So I think we're ready for the smack ometer.

Final thoughts in the smack ometer. What do you think, Skip? Well, it was a nice ride. I liked it. I'd enjoyed it. I enjoyed the low-key high. Uh, I liked it. The only thing that uh I didn't like was the taste. You know, everything else, great. It presented well, it was very fresh, you know, and that's great whenever you go to the dispensary and get something that it's nice and fresh. But no taste and the low grade high, which again is not a bad thing, but for that I'm gonna have to kind of give it to them a little bit. It's gonna be a 5.9 kind of thing. Taste is big for Skip. Yeah, yeah. And you know, if I don't taste it, I can't feel it.

All right, let's do the rundown. So um, so started very nice, very dark greens, browns, hints of gold, dark auburn hairs. The turp profile was there, it had that diesel pungent thing going on. Um, there was I couldn't see the tricombs, but there was like a dusting. The buds were small and medium sized, very supple. Uh, it was four months ago. It has a booze pack, always a plus, always a plus. Congratulations for thinking of your customers that way. Uh the smoking experience, uh, at times harsh, at times soft. Um, you know, very, very low turf profile, as the skip said. Uh, you know, we did get the diesel uh in the beginning and the pungent, and then it slowly graduated into like diesel and earthy towards the end. Uh, it would alternate from smooth and harsh, uh, but it was not strong at all. Like, uh, I know as a in a J I'm gonna taste it more than Skip. Uh, and yeah, it was mild for me too. I tasted something, but it was very, very mild. Right. Um as far as the smoking experience, yeah, it went well and uh post was very low grade. I mean, I guess the way the best way to put it is like it's there, you know, but not much else. You know, it was just settling into a low grade, you know, after the 10-minute mark. It did have an old school feel, and I'll give it that. And it, I swear, it felt like I was transported back to school. Yeah, you know, those autumn afternoons in school, like that turn into evenings with friends, and you're like smoking that, you know, cheap little Nick bag and stuff like that. But, you know, and the in the end of it all, I guess I'll have to say that it was nice, not thrilling, but nice. And for that, I'm going to give it a 5.7.
