Smoking session review of Mom's Spaghetti cannabis strain released by Dank by Definition.
Somebody giggling Highland. With your house. Skipper. And we're back with Giglin Highland. Today we are reviewing Mom Spaghetti by Dank by Definition.
SPEAKER_01Dank by Definition, also known as HPA Canna Inc. in Poughkeepsie, New York. They were founded in 2022. And their founders are experts from the cannabis and hospitality industry, and they offer arguably the largest selection of choices of any growers in New York State.
SPEAKER_00Mom Spaghetti, or probably should be more known as No Information Ever Existed. Only say that because we source multiple sources and they all say something different. So here it goes. It could be a sativa or indica dominant hybrid cross between GMO, root beer, and carbon fiber. Top effects are creative, relaxed, and uplifted. Top flavors are diesel, chem, and apple. Top terps are Mersine, Limonine, and Cariophyline. THC values are as follows: 30% according to all but a whopping 33.7% according to Dank. And Leafly says, what mom spaghetti?
SPEAKER_01It's so crazy because they actually have a page for it, but it really says a lot of nothing. No info. Yeah, no terps, no THC. I mean, just really nothing. As far as where we got this strain today, uh, this came in a 3.5 ounce Mylar bag. This particular color is white on black, and it retails anywhere between$30 and$50. You can get this at Turp Brothers in Ozone Park on Reading Street, right off of Cross Bay Boulevard, right by National Body. Make sure to pay them a visit, folks. Definitely. I think we're ready to roll it. We're ready. Let's do it. Let's do it.
SPEAKER_00And we're back with the roll. How did it break, Skip? Well, it broke small, but not due to dryness. This is a very simple, very nice presentation. Tight buds. They're very tight. And I think it is due to its resinous nature. The resin is holding these buds very tight, making it for a small broke. So we did need more than usual for both, and it leaves almost nothing for another round. Yeah, it was a little bit. Maybe enough for one.
SPEAKER_01Maybe. Yeah, I'm with Skip. Maybe. As far as look, itty the thing that popped out at us as soon as we opened the package was these buds were itty bitty baby buds. Every bud was tiny, little little buds, a lot of little buds. Forest greens, light greens, yellows, orange hairs. Buds, like we said, were small, but supple, like Skip said. Turp profile is not loud, but it was there. Uh when we opened the package, it had like Apple. And then when we broke it up, you got the chem. So yeah, it was kind of doing it. Uh the golden powder coats it all, which must be the dry cones. And it was packaged two months ago. So it was very fresh. Ready to smoke it? We're ready. Let's do it. Let's do it.
SPEAKER_00First dankiness.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. First impression. I do taste the apple. There is a dankiness to it, which is like kind of the chem, but it's uh it's uh, you know, not it's a little there is a little dankiness to the chem. Are you getting the diesel?
SPEAKER_00I don't know if that's what it was. I was trying to determine if it was the diesel or the chem. It's something in between there or something similar.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm I'm gonna hazard and say that it's the chem. All right, let's see how it goes. Okay. Wow, I am getting the apple. The apple is the dominant uh flavor, yeah, which is pretty cool. It's an odd flavor for right, yeah. But it's definitely notable. Um, so yeah, a few things. Uh Dank, of course, uh, part of HPI Canna. Um, and we talked about how they have hospitality in their industry. Uh, when we were trying to find stuff about this strain, it was going all over the place. Um, Leafly, like we said earlier, had a page, but not much said in it. All but had something that mentioned over 30%, but didn't have an actual page for it. Uh, so it was kind of difficult to find something. Dank is very ubiquitous, as we all say. We see it everywhere all the time. Very nice, colorful packages. Um, their marketing is tight. Yeah. Uh, one thing that I would like to ask a representative from Dank is what is the difference between their 3.5 ounce bottles and their 3.5 ounce Mylar bags? Um good question. Yeah, grab that bottle over there, Skip. Let's see if we can compare it. We have an old Dank bottle here. And sincerely, the only difference that I see. So this is just me uh guessing is that uh the bottles look like they're indoor grown. And I so I guess that means that the Mylar bags are oh yes, yes, they are sun-grown. It says it here. Sun-grown, and the bottle says indoor grown. Okay, so maybe that's the difference between the two, but they sell um 3.5 ounce or an eighth in bottle and bag, right? Um, dank also has the distinction, at least as far as Skip and I know, um, of having also the biggest variety of size differences. Well, visible variety, yeah, absolutely. Like you can get something as little as like one gram packed for like ten dollars to fifteen dollars. Uh, you could go all the way up to ounces for 200 and change. Uh so they variety is the hallmark of dank. We were just complaining earlier that we we don't know how we're gonna be able to, you know, they just keep throwing out new things, and and when we keep every time we look in the website, there's like new flavors. So it's like we're never gonna finish reviewing dank, apparently. Daunting task. It's gonna be its own cottage industry uh reviewing dank. Yeah, um, so and I'm not saying that's a bad thing. Uh it would be interesting to see their growing facilities because wow, right. They must have so many different sections in their growing facilities. As far as the it's actually a pleasant smoke, yeah.
SPEAKER_00It has uh it has a bit of weight to the smoke there. Uh the flavor, a bit a little musty, but it has flavor, you see, something that keeps you entertained there.
SPEAKER_01So, of course, the name of the strain, Mom Spaghetti, comes from the famous line in uh the MM song. I forget which song it is. Uh, but that's where it comes from. Something else we read about Mom Spaghetti is that the reason why it's so varied and why we couldn't really find anything on it is because uh some people posit that multiple strains with that were named Mom Spaghetti rose at the same time in different parts of the country.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_01So, you know, you might have one that has uh that we saw that the flavors were nutmeg and cinnamon and stuff like that, even though I'm not getting that from this one. So it looks like uh what we got from Leafly was correct as far as the flavors, right? But uh, which was all Leafly had. But um come on, my friends, you always kick butt Leafly when you know so today was a rare miss for you guys. Um and they're saying that multiple strains with the same name rose, which is another thing that we we ask nowadays, like how do we even know nowadays that the one that they're saying is the strain is the same strain you smoked before?
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_01And so it looks like mom spaghetti is one of those strains that depending on where you get it, when you get it, and from who you get it, you might be getting something different every time. All right, down to my first third. Let's start looking at those effects. How are we feeling, Skip Creative? Not much, no. Relaxed, a bit, yeah. Yeah, I can feel the relaxation set in. Uplifted, not yet. So I'm starting to feel a little fogginess in my in the back of my head. Uh I do feel something coming on. And you know, that's pretty early on in the J, so that's pretty excellent. Uh let's see, what am I feeling? Body-wise, nothing yet. Uh, but nothing as far as like uh heaviness either. So it might have a uh uh anesthetic effect, right? And yeah, let's just see how it goes. What do you think, Skip?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'm in the same frame there as you. It's uh hard to determine because it's just coming on, but it's something there. Seems to be doing its thing. I'd be a bit slowly. Yeah, I'm feeling it coming on too.
SPEAKER_01So this haul came from Turk Brothers. Uh they have two locations, one in Ozone Park, one in Astoria. The apple's still there, but it's starting to recede. Yeah. Um, and I'm getting more of the chemical. Yeah. Uh, you know, it's funny because one of the different entries on Mom Spaghetti said that it had like a coffee thing. Oh, yeah. And I kind of got that for a second there. No, I didn't get no coffee, like a coffee hint. So it doesn't seem to be much of a talker, folks, as we are sitting here smoking weed, just puffing it away, you know. Skip got that face. Like, don't bother me. All right, I'm smoking my blunt.
SPEAKER_00Leave me the hell alone. No, it's it's like a wave at this point. Like, I feel at times that when I take that pull, it brings me a bit under the C line, but then it comes right back up. So it's like I'm trying to stay at one pressure here, and it's just not happening. I think I need to concentrate a little bit more.
SPEAKER_01I see, I see. That does sound like it needs concentration. Uh, I am feeling a numbness falling over my face. Uh, it's already hit my cheeks, my nose, uh, the sides of my like face by the temple area. Um, so yeah, I'm starting to feel the anesthetic effect. Yes, I can honestly say. It is helping with the aches and pains a little bit. Uh so yeah, it might be uh good for that kind of thing if you needed it for pain management. Really smooth smoke. But that's kind of a dank thing. It seems like dank likes to be inoffensive, right? That is a good way of it. If you will, you know, not harsh smoke, yeah, not too bad taste. Um they don't want people saying it tastes nasty or that they're choking on it. Even though the other day we tried one and it was like more old school tasting. Yeah, yeah. And I think we did say that in the review, like maybe this isn't for the like casual. Right.
SPEAKER_00But for the most part, they do have that balanced kind of thing going on. Yeah, not too much of anything.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I don't even can you s the smoke doesn't really smell. Or is it might just be us being potheads?
SPEAKER_00Let me not uh let me not throw that out of there and then it doesn't have any kind of uh determin determinate kind of fruity smell or anything like that.
SPEAKER_01No, it's just like the other day I had uh one that was smell the smoke smelled like orange. Yeah. But here's just like mustiness. So hitting the halfway mark. Like I'm actually a little past the halfway mark, and I just forgot to do this part. Uh feeling creative, Skip? Nope. Feeling relaxed, Skip? Yeah, yeah, relaxed, yeah. Yeah, feeling uplifted? No. I um no, no.
SPEAKER_00No, I tried. I tried. I tried. Yeah, relaxed. I don't know if if you know, according to multiple sources, I might have to go with the Ndika dominant. It feels a bit like that. Not that heavy, but yeah, it has that relaxed kind of kickback.
SPEAKER_01Very light Ndika dominant, maybe 6040. Yeah, it feels that way. Yeah, you if it's a mellow kind of feel, right? You feel chill, yeah. Nice, feel like it. Mellow. Yeah, you know, that that's yeah, that's kind of the feeling. It's like a relaxed, chill feeling. And that chill feeling I'm gonna attribute to being uplifted because you feel positive, right?
SPEAKER_00Okay, okay, that's fair.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Um, no creative though. No, I not yet.
SPEAKER_00I don't have a burst of creation coming out of me. Yeah, sometimes it's crazy, you know, when um something hits the lexicon like this name here, and people just hit the rush button, yeah, let's get something out, you know. And that's fine, but they don't even put in the names some attribute of the smoke. So here, mom spaghetti, I get it. But there's no spiciness or anything like, you know, that you can attribute to spaghetti or sauce or mom.
SPEAKER_01There was a time, yes, I I understand what you're saying. There was a time where the name implied some attributes, some characteristics. Right, a characteristic when you smoked it. So how it smelled when you blew it out, you know, how it tasted when you smoked it, how it smelled when you like broke it up. It could have smelled like, you know, meat sauce or something. I don't know. That would have been weird, but you know, you get the idea. I mean, they could be a little, you know. But this is this is, you know, this is the different tact that a lot of them take, um, where they are just like, we just want a cool name. Right. Call it mom's swag. So they probably already printing out the the the labels even before the the you know oh absolutely the strain is like finished or whatever, and it's like, oh, it's this. Oh, it smells like apples. Oh, well, whatever, it's mom spaghetti, you know, like that kind of thing. It's a marketing thing. Man, we can think of tons of different names like that.
SPEAKER_00Mom stash, yeah, you know, even the classic ones, but no, no, the classic ones usually gave you cool stuff, but there's stuff like um no, I'm just saying what what probably I name it after this sponkin experience instead of mom spaghetti. This is a little musty, old school vibe.
SPEAKER_01So like I would have probably called it something like Apple Orchard or something like that. But you see, that name, I I could kind of understand why they do that because you see, that name doesn't have the cachet, right? You know, that like oh apple orchard, okay. You know, and mango sherbet and orange surprise and orange juice, and you know, they like whatever, but you're like mom spaghetti, you know, it it might bring something visceral, right? You know, oh shoot, I'm gonna be like Eminem when I smoke this, you know. Feel like that, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00So no, you know, these are these are marketing people thinking of it. Of course. So I'm sure just because of that name, come on, it brings, you know, curiosity, of course. I'm sure people put that in their cue real fast.
SPEAKER_01I also, you know, uh shudder to think of uh strain that would taste like spaghetti and meatballs.
SPEAKER_00I mean, it doesn't have to, but something in that vein, you know, we can garlic. Yeah, look. There's strains that taste like garlic. Yeah, why not? You know, a little bit of that, I don't know, maybe a little bit of lemon or something, biscotti, a little bit garlic pepper.
SPEAKER_01There you go, garlic and pepper, caryophylline and um yeah. Ah, what's the other one? Uh, but yeah, there you go. Garlic and pepper. And that would be more apripo. So down to my last third, and yeah, let's do it one more time. I know we just did it, right? So it's like creative, no, relaxed. Yes, we say relaxed early. Uplifted, we're starting to say yes to it. Ah, creative, that's a difficult one. Because if you were already in the process of creation, then did it spark it for you? And if you're not in the process of creation, then does that mean that that's a fraud as far as the you get what I mean? Yeah, this is supposed to make me creative, but what if I'm just watching TV? Like, is it really gonna make me creative? Right, and if I was already creating something when I smoked it, is it really making me creative? Right, it's most or planning to create something, a label, a construct, you know, creative, hmm.
SPEAKER_00You know, as opposed to just high.
SPEAKER_01Towards the end, I'm tasting more of the chemical. The apple is pretty much gone. Right. Um, there's some a little, I could see where they say diesel because that because the chemical has like a tang, a little weird tang to it. Yeah. Um, so I you know, I see that that they're trying to like identify that tang.
SPEAKER_00R U F U F but let's just start off like coming from R U F U T. And I'm rolling into my just finish. And of course, the last few pulls uh pull me closer to where I'd like to be. It's still a I don't want to say totally low gray high. It's like a wave up and down. And let's see how that goes, because it's it's nice. Although those numbers, I don't know, 33% THC, I don't know. You know, because uh this feels more like in the mid to high 20s.
SPEAKER_01Well, I mean, you know, it's it's I mean, always the no, no, it is almost always the case that the seller is very optimistic about what their numbers say, right? Um, but it's really an estimate because they're really not, you know, the numbers are not really what they're saying they are. They're they're estimating based on the numbers that they're having from other things. So I guess this can be a social thing. Yeah. If you know you want to sit around chatting, I don't know. If you want to go out dancing or something, how are you feeling about that?
SPEAKER_00No, I don't know. Maybe, you know, not me in my present state, but some people could feel this to be like a bridge to something else.
SPEAKER_01I don't know. I I'm with you in your first instinct where I I think it's I would rather just like hang out. Right. I feel it it has a little touch of the couch lock effect. Feels nice to be sitting down right now and just like yapping. Absolutely. You tell if you tell me like let's walk a mile and a half to like the store right now, I kind of would be resistant thinking about it. Would you do it? Uh not at this day, so yeah, I don't know. Oh, I wouldn't do it. So I think it's a little more uh I don't feel a sedative effect, so I don't feel sleepy or like I wanna like you know be alone or anything like that. It's more of a good conversational uh marijuana. You can yep, you can talk, feel good. That's the uplifted part. It's a positive thing. Uh but not euphoric. Um feel relaxed. I and you already know how we feel about creative. Uh towards the end. Wow, I did still get a shot of the apple there for one second. That was really nice. Going till the end hardcore, folks. Feel pretty good. Uh feel uplifted, feel relaxed. Uh definitely high.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00Where are you cruising? You know, I would say maybe like a slow 15,000.
SPEAKER_01You know, like a 15,000?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I got no elevation here. And the speed is in reverse a little bit. So they're, you know.
SPEAKER_01I feel a little elevation. I'll venture enough to say 22,000. Oh, yeah. Ooh. I'm not saying 30,000. Right. 22,000. Nice little. But I will admit that this is a slow flight, uh slow flight. Yeah. You know, it's it's we're not gonna get there in two hours. This isn't a Concord or uh, you know, Jumbo Jet. This is this is one of those slow planes, maybe with propellers. I don't know. The rickety old propeller plane. And yeah, it doesn't feel too bad. Yeah, it's just like a real cool hangout. All right, so I don't know. How do we think? You think it's gonna last the hour? Well, if it does, it'd be very nice. All right, let's hope. I guess we'll find out in an hour. See you soon. Let's do it. One hour later.
SPEAKER_00And we're back one hour later. How did it go, Skip? Well, one hour later, I'm not high. I don't think I am, but I do feel a lot of the uh the remnants or the come down of it. Um a bit of a slow drag, which was the high, but it's just the same physical manifestation without the altitude. And that's where we're at. One hour later.
SPEAKER_01Uh for me, uh there is a it's definitely the post. So it's not at the peak where it was before, but uh it's it was a very smooth transition and it's not too far off, even though you do feel a difference. So uh, you know, not very different. I I um I'm still feeling the effects. It's just you know, at not at the peak form as it was before. Okay, but uh yeah, so I guess it's a little better for me. Ready for the smack a meter?
SPEAKER_00Ready, let's do it. Let's do it. Definitely feel like this.
SPEAKER_01This is alright. This is actually alright, definitely feel like this. This is alright, this is actually all right.
SPEAKER_00And we're back with the smack a meter. How does it go, pro?
SPEAKER_01All right, well, let's do the rundowns. So when we opened this, the first thing that popped off was the really tiny buds. Uh they were very pretty though, and they were supple. Uh, they didn't break into a lot. Uh, and it had a nice turf profile. It started as Apple. When you broke it up, it got chem, but it was there. Not too strong, but it was there. Uh, you saw the it was something that was only packaged two months ago, and that means that it was fresh. Very nice. Uh, the only if we had any complaint about the aesthetic qualities of it was just that the buds were tiny. What was that all about?
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_01Other than that, uh, you know, nothing else to say about uh it in a bad way, as far as presentation. Uh as far as smoke, it was an interesting smoke, very nice. Uh, you could taste the apple, you could taste the chem, and it lasted pretty far into the J. I didn't get much of the diesel. The apple and the chem, yeah, I got more of that. It was a good smoke. Uh it was uh enjoyable. Uh the high was fun. Uh, it was a little delayed. Um, and uh, you know, felt very chatty. Man, at some point I was just going off and just talking about everything. Just very entertaining, I guess. Uh, sometimes I would get distracted with other things. So, like, I would be in the middle of a conversation, get distracted, and go off into tangents. Uh, but other than that, very good for social circles, I would think. Like, you will be talking your butt off. Uh, if you're an introvert, they're gonna wonder what's up with you because you're gonna be talking a lot on this. If you're an extrovert, they're just gonna be like, wow, you're in you're off today, huh? You're on today, I should say. Uh, but you're not gonna feel like dancing. So I don't think that that's something that you know, don't think you're gonna go to the club and you know, I don't think this is for that. I think it gives you like a touch of the couch lock. Yeah, uh, just a touch, because you don't feel it in your brain, you don't feel sleepy or down or any kind of thing like that. But you feel like you just want to kind of chill out and hang out. So, with all that in mind, um if you know, breaking it down, mom spaghetti, uh, you know, fun experience, wasn't smacked, uh, but you know, pretty decent. And the post was pretty good. So I can say that it lasted pretty deep, at least in some form. And, you know, if I have anything to say about it, um, it doesn't taste like spaghetti though. So with that, I'm going to give it a 7.1.
SPEAKER_00Okay, that's fair. Uh like-minded, uh, like usual. It uh was a decent experience. Um, but it was a low, it feels like a low flying high. And the package says 33% THT and we know how that goes, but they usually give it an upward trajectory because they know it hovers around on and around. But this doesn't quite feel like it, but it does have a consistency. It it the high stayed for a while, even though it tapered after 45 minutes, but it had that that strong post there that still kind of feels like it, but for me it is more grogginess. Yeah, it was a great experience all throughout. The only thing for me, which is very important, is something maybe louder, either in the smell or in the taste, or in the feeling. I'm a bit of an extremist there, and this one was just well balanced all around, nothing to like stick out and and grab my attention. And for some that's not important, but for me it is, and at the price point is pretty fair, so I'm gonna give it a seven.
SPEAKER_01All right, sounds pretty good. Um, yeah, I think that uh Mountain Spaghetti uh was alright. I don't know what that was all about. And good mates, that is our review.
