Somebody who's studio somebody new. You're tuning into Ginglin's Highland, the 420 podcast, with your host, the Skipper, and the Professor.
SPEAKER_02And welcome back to Ginglin's Highland. You're here with the Professor and the Skipper, and today we are reviewing Hot Tamales by Rolling Green Cannabis.
SPEAKER_03Rolling Green Cannabis, New York State cultivar from Green, New York with 20 years of cultivation experience. They created a process called CTE, which gathers live growing data and utilizes it in the grow.
SPEAKER_02Hot tamale strain is a 50-50 hybrid of gelati and runs. Not gelato, gelati. The terps are caryophillin, lemonine, and linalul. The effects are creative, happy, and sleepy. The flavors are diesel, pungent, and earthy. As far as THC content, our friends at Leafly say 25%. All Bud has no information on this strain. We got to do better, All Bud. And Rolling Green themselves say this strain has 29.69%.
SPEAKER_03Three and a half gram or one eighth glass jar from the purple label series. Average price $55. Ready for the roll? Ready for the roll, Skip. Let's do it. We're back with the roll. How did it go, bro?
SPEAKER_02Well, it broke pretty big, I gotta say. Uh the sample was definitely enough for both rolls, with enough left over for maybe one or two more.
SPEAKER_03Wow. How would how did the look go? Wow, super frosty, medium-sized nugs, very dark greens with orange hairs, very smooth gelato and runt notes, very supple, very fresh, very impressed.
SPEAKER_02Gotta say, very sticky weed. Yeah. My fingers had trouble rolling. It was so sticky. And it had like, for me, if it had like this light runt kind of turf feel, but it also had on top of it like a pepper.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Which is the carrier filling, I would say. Very strong.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02So are we ready for the smoke? We're ready. Let's do it.
SPEAKER_00Let's do it.
SPEAKER_01Got a little bit of that diesel in my first poll. Yeah. But definitely getting that uh peppery kind of thing going on.
SPEAKER_03I feel the caryophylline right on top.
SPEAKER_02Right on top. Peppery diesel. It's right on top. Definitely a turp, definitely a turp profile. Like in the inhale, in the exhale. Strong turp profile. In fact, I'm kind of feeling a little something already. Yeah. Are you? Yeah, already. Wow. Okay. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Not even five pulls and I'm just going to do it.
SPEAKER_02And you're feeling like a little funkiness in the eyeballs, right? Yeah, me too. Okay.
SPEAKER_03That's a good sign. And that that uh turp is like a strong gelato. It's like it's gelato kind of taste, but lighter. It's like uh more like a runt. Yeah, between the two.
SPEAKER_02For me, they're both similar, you know, even though they have different different characteristics, but because gelato has like a stronger kind, like a more um brusque ness to it. Yeah. Where runs isn't doesn't have that little like bottom.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I agree. And so I don't get the bottom as much. Like runs is a little fruitier up top. The gelato is very bottom heavy. This has the gelato kind of thing going, but lighter.
SPEAKER_02But with the fruitiness of the runs, kind of.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. But not really fruity. More like lighter. Lighter, it's not as heavy.
SPEAKER_02I know all these descriptions, but it's it is a really interesting taste profile, I gotta say.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's very gelato, like, but the difference that I can describe right off the rip is that one, the smoke is not as dense as gelato, because gelato, the the smoke is very dense. You know, it's a coffer right off the bat. Uh the uh turps in gelato, I generally feel it more around the throat area, still on the tongue, but around the back there. Here, you get the taste right up front of the tip of your tongue.
SPEAKER_02It's in the nostrils and the tip of the tongue.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, right up front. Yeah, it's right up front.
SPEAKER_02Definitely feeling a little uh tingliness in the face. This is a fast mover, this strain, it looks like. We'll see what happens. So already past the third end, and I'm definitely starting to feel a high. There's a little fogginess in the frontal lobe. I'm just trying to figure out where that's gonna go. Not sure yet, necessarily. The facial nostril thing is happening. Um, the fogginess is happening. It's a good pull, not really a choker, and a small throat tickler. The turp profile is definitely there. I don't have any pungent or earthy, but I am getting diesel, and I am getting some type of like runcy kind of thing. Yeah, I could I get the diesel too. Yeah, that's what I'm definitely getting. The diesel. There's a touch of earthy, but it's more like a runcy kind of yeah, like I'm definitely feeling the runts from it, you know.
SPEAKER_03Caryophylline, limonine, and linolul. I am a fan of linal.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, but it's there's not many strains that we know of with linoluol.
SPEAKER_03The those of this phenotype, the gelato types, they that's linal. It usually has a good um effect, good feels, and most of the times the linal is not a lot, it's like almost the last. Almost every time. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Rare the strain that has mostly linal. So I'm about halfway in and I'm definitely getting high. Uh it's uh it's a kind of um a tingly high. I'm feeling tingly in the face. My like I said, my nostrils are tingly. I don't know what's that old, but I think it's because I exhale through my nose or something. I don't know. Um it's a good high. Uh not not a lot of focus. Right. It's like hard to focus with it. So I don't think this is one of those creative type things. More uh, you know, hang out and you know, whatever kind of thing. That's what I'm feeling, right? Like you just hang out and this one is hard to focus.
SPEAKER_03The words are hard to come by.
SPEAKER_02Right. So I there's a lot of uh in our conversation while we're here smoking. So that's kind of where it's going. A little loss for words, but a good high nonetheless. It feels a good feeling high. Am I smacked? Not quite yet. But you know, there's still a little less than half to go. It's pleasant. So I'm down to my last third, and I'm definitely high. It's got a kind of old school feel high, you know, like one of those really empty-headed highs where you're just chilling and not really feeling like doing much. I do not feel creative. That's the funny part about that. The effects, because that's the first effect is creative, and I do not feel creative at all. Do you feel creative? Not at all. Maybe we'll get there. I do feel happy, so I can say happy. How about you skip? Happy? Yeah, more relaxed, if anything. It says sleepy, so I guess that's where the relaxed comes in. I guess it could lead to sleepy, right? But definitely not creative. I don't feel focused, so that's kind of where my last third is. Definitely a high. I could approach smacked if it keeps ascending, right? But it's not there yet. Hopefully, it does get there.
SPEAKER_03And in fact, this I'm just looking over our notes, it's a 50-50 hybrid. And those for me are also things that I try to askew, you know, because when 50-50 for me, it's weird, weird feeling. Like it for me is like an ambivalence in high. I don't know where I'm going, you know, and and there are some that I don't even feel anything. Careful, careful, though, skip.
SPEAKER_02Because remember, what we've been noticing with rolling green is your mood affects the heart. Oh, yeah. We gotta maintain some form of positivity here.
SPEAKER_03And also, we also noted that the ones that are in the 25 to like 30 have a weird thing going, it's it's not a straightforward high, you know. This one here falls within that parameter, 29. And also that that 50-50 mix, you know. Right, I concur. Evenly sativa and indica. Wow. But I have to say, this is clearly uh a gelato, but is like a reinterpretation of it, which I can appreciate, you know. I like gelatos, it has its you know, place, but I don't like it all the time. And this one here is like gelato light on the taste, you know, it's not very heavy, which I can appreciate. But the and the feeling is milder, you know. Right. I can appreciate it. This will, you know, I can see this in a positive way of looking at gelato, a remix of gelato.
SPEAKER_02It's definitely a pleasant smoke. I will say that. The funny thing is, is that it didn't say gelato, it's gelati. I wonder what the difference is between the two.
SPEAKER_03I mean, I'm sure gelati, if we were to look it up, it'll be some form of gelato, right? It has to be with that kind of name.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because that's like a little too close for comfort there, right?
SPEAKER_03And the way it tastes. There's no way they could tell me that they're not related.
SPEAKER_02Let's see. I'm looking it up right now, folks. I'm looking it up right now. Gelati, according to our friends at Leafly, is a hybrid marijuana strain bred by crossing gelato and biscotti.
SPEAKER_03There you go. There, that was the missing link? Yeah. Another one that is in this is the same phenotype, but again, it's a different thing going on there. In fact, we reviewed uh rolling green biscotti this week. So it's Runz and the a child of gelato. Yeah, so there you go. There you go. And it also now I understand more the flavor, the profile is is why it's different. Because the like the sweetness of biscotti, that's what we're tasting.
SPEAKER_02So you don't think it's berry any longer? It's more like a biscotti sweet.
SPEAKER_03Well, they're like vanilla. Yeah, yeah. They call it biscotti, but it's more like a vanilla. Oh, I guess this is pretty cool because, like, for myself, that's why I enjoy this series and all the other ones, because these are things that I would not even give a second look. Not because they're not good, they're excellent. It's just that it's out of my preferred characteristics, parameters. Like, you know, I I generally will look for something very sativa-ish, something very citrusy, you know, a lot of mercy. And I would usually stick with those, you know, but trying these things that is way out of my comfort zone and finding that, hey, this is good, this is all right.
SPEAKER_02No, I I've I've always been more an equal opportunity. Yeah. Yeah. Listen, if it's a good high, that's that's the the eternal question. Right. Are you high? Are you high? That's all that really matters. And it and then also, question one B is it a good high? Right. Because you don't want a crappy high. We've tons of us know what crappy highs are like. You know what I mean? If you've been in the game long enough. Right.
SPEAKER_03So So you like, you know, like character uh what I don't know how to even just weeds that have a strong characteristics, like gelato, like diesel.
SPEAKER_02I can I can I try it all. And it's something that I really like about it. You know, like for a long time I was messing with sativas, right? And now lately I've I find that my favorite, my, you know, one of my favorite go-to's is an Indika. It's a pure Indika. You know, like there is no, there is no way around it. Right. You know, that's kind of a revelation for me. But at the same time, yeah, why not? You know, like it's it's all marijuana. Right. So, you know, it's just about if you it's a if you're high, are you high? Are you high? And then is it a good high for you? Right. Because some people like highs that make them sleepy, some people like highs that don't make them sleepy, some people like highs that are giggly, some people don't. Some people like creative highs or focused highs. The question is, are you high? And is that high, the one you having from that particular strain, is it working for you? But if you can answer those two questions positively, then you got something good.
SPEAKER_03I don't get too hung up on things as far as like or your your personal, personal preferences. That's you know, I do, I get hung up on, especially if I'm spending money on it, you know. Hey, you you know, you always want to be a uh uh discerning consumer. There's no way around that either, right? But weed, like anything else, is very, you know, vast. And really, I enjoyed have being exposed to these different types of varietals, you know.
SPEAKER_02I give it's to me, it's it's more in the in the vein of wine tasting, right? You might like a summer red, and that might be your favorite wine, but that's not gonna stop you from you know drinking a rose that's really good or white, you know, that's like dry and fantastic. You're gonna, you know, you're gonna say, hey, this is fantastic.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and there are those like myself, like you know, like I said, there were if I'm spending money on it, I'll close the door on something that I'm not feeling that day. That's all I wouldn't even entertain it, you know. I say I want my X, Y, whatever, I want that, you know. I like there, like recently, you know, you know, just ruminating about what's next or looking over what the dispensary have, and I see purple stuff in the corner of my eye, and I'm like, no, no purple stuff at all.
SPEAKER_02Oh, but we recently tried one, yeah.
SPEAKER_03And that's my next point. That recently, in fact, in this rolling green series, we tried a purple that was outstanding, that I will that will definitely be in my roster, you know, and it's something like I said, a purple that I would never purple. What would I want that for? Expanding the horizon, yeah.
SPEAKER_02You see, why this is important for us, for the New York consumer, or even Colorado, even California, anywhere nationwide, wherever you can buy weed legally, it's important to do this for us, for all of us, because that way when you walk into this shop and they don't have the products you normally use, because that has happened to me already. Where I'm like, Do you have this? No, do you have this? No, do you have this? No. The as many this is that you can have, so as many this brand, this brand, this brand, this brand that you can know, the higher the the probability will be that they will say, Oh, yeah, I have that, and you will have a point of reference of something that you can enjoy and not, you know, waste money on something that you're gonna end up not enjoying in the first place. Right. It's it's the entire point of of this exercise, of this series, is to create some type of reference point so that you can make a decision on your own. And find something you really like at your price point, at your terp, at your flavor, and find as more than one, as many as you can. Right. Find six, find a dozen things you like so that there's always one of them in the store where you go. Oh, you have this one? No. How about this brand? No, how about this brand? Yeah, I actually have that brand. Okay, do you have this strain? No. Do you have this strain? No. Do you have this strain? Yes, I have that one. There you go. You found something you can work with. I wonder why they chose that name, hot tamales. I could see, I could see it. It's the whole diesel earthy thing. That spiciness. It's it does have a touch of a spiciness to it. Uh yeah, the caryophalin. The pepper, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. But I wouldn't call this hot tamales. I don't know.
SPEAKER_04R U F U V.
SPEAKER_03But let's just start off like I'm going from I just finished my J and I gotta say, it's a good high.
SPEAKER_02It's a really good high. It's an ascending high. Like I said, it's it's not creative, though. It's uh it's unfocused for me. Uh the only part that I find focused is that I feel conversational. Yeah, I do feel chatty, and so that part, and it's like enjoyable, right? The chat is enjoyable. So I think that's the happy aspect. I do not feel sleepy, but you know, you can always worry about the come down. I learned that recently with another rolling green product. As far as the smoke went, it was actually a pleasant smoke. There was some choking in there, it did have a spiciness to it. I did taste it the diesel, a little bit of the earthy, but like uh Skip kept saying, it had like a runcy gelato kind of thing going on, too. Like the heaviness of the gelato, but like also a sweetness, like the runs, you know. So, and then look at that. We looked it up, and it turns out that it had a gelato parent somewhere. So can't mess with the skip. That's why he's the skip. So yeah, it it actually seems to be a pleasant high, and you know, I guess I'm just like hoping that it's like ascends a little further up. That would be nice, right? If it gets a little further up so you could get like the smackness, yeah, but like this feeling. So, you know, I'm gonna just see where that goes, and you know the J actually smoked pretty quick, which is kind of different with a few of the other strains that I had with rolling green, where they like really lasted. I think one strain I outlasted to skip, smoking a blunt, so that was funny. Yeah, this one was sticky too. Yeah, very sticky. I had actual trouble rolling it. Yeah, because it was so sticky. That's a good thing. That's not a bad thing, rolling green. Not a bad thing. That's kind of some exciting a little bit. Like, oh, this might be good if it's sticky like that. So don't feel bad. So where are you at with that blunt sky?
SPEAKER_03I'm about a I'm a third left. It burns slower. Um, yeah, man, and I'm high. It's a good high, you know. It's an easy high, relaxing. Easy rider high. Yeah, yeah. It's a nice turn down, you know, after work type thing. Yeah, this is this is good. Yeah, that's a great, a great uh place to put it. Okay, and we're rounding out the smoke here. Going into the just finish. Pretty it was a very, very not not even decent. It was a is a pleasant smoke. Surprising, like I described before, and the reasons why. And uh even now, ten minutes after the fact, we've been here talking, and the high is still here, and it's uh good. I won't say decent, I was about to say decent. It's good. This is good.
SPEAKER_02I guess we'll see you one hour later.
SPEAKER_03Let's do it.
SPEAKER_02One hour day one hour, one hour and we're back with one hour later here with the Preston the Skipper. So, Skip, how did it go?
SPEAKER_03It was a smooth smoke, actually, and um enjoyable, very enjoyable. I mean, like I said before, I'm not too big on the um Runts or Gelato type, but this one here changed me a little bit because it's different. It's like a 2.0 version. They improved upon a lot of the harshness and uh the dense smoke, which is not a problem either, because there's a time and a space for that as well. But this one here fits more occasions, if you will.
SPEAKER_02I can definitely say it was a pleasant high for me. Uh, it can be a talker or it can be a quiet high. Like I had periods of both, and it was very comfortable in both spaces. Small body effects, uh mostly in the shoulder area, just very calm, feel-good vibes. Um, so I think that the happy part hit it a thousand percent. Didn't get sleepy, didn't really feel creative that much, but you know, felt a little lazy to be honest. Reaching smack status, it was like I was reaching it, but I wasn't quite getting there. And but you know what? Not for nothing, Skip. That was like okay, it was okay, it was just a good, pleasant high. And then the thing is that like now, one hour later, I don't really have much of a taper off, like it stayed pretty consistent, right? So maybe I didn't reach like heights, right? But it's a consistent, pleasant high. So that's that you know, there's something to be said for that. Yeah, so I think we're ready for the smack a meter. What do you think? Oh, we're ready. Let's do it. Let's definitely feel like this.
SPEAKER_00This is alright. This is actually alright. Definitely feel like this, this is alright, this is actually alright, and then we're back with the smack a meter.
SPEAKER_02So, skip, what are your final thoughts?
SPEAKER_03Good smoke, and it changed the way I felt about the phenotype. Uh, it lasted. It I'm not high now, but the remnants of it is still there, and it was pleasant all throughout. I would definitely do it again. For that, I'll give it a 7.8, definitely.
SPEAKER_02Okay, I think I had a little better experience. I'm still actually pretty high. It didn't taper off too much for me. I definitely felt the happy, I felt relaxed, didn't feel creative, did do not feel sleepy, which to me is actually a positive right now because I don't want to feel sleepy at this moment. But if you did want to feel sleepy, probably not the one for you. Right. Um, you know, looking at the whole experience when we opened it, definitely had turp profile, looked good. Big count. Like I'm looking at it right now, and there's still enough for like one, maybe even two. Uh had tricombs, was pretty. The weed was very sticky. Yeah. And it was a pleasant experience from the beginning to the end. The smoke was good, it was a smooth smoke, good taste. Uh, good, you felt the turps on the exhale. When I uh, you know, thinking about the the the actual high itself, it was very pleasant, you know. It wasn't like a smacked level, you know, uh high, but it was a pleasant high, it was a good high, social high, quiet high, very versatile. Right. And that's also something to be said for. And because of that, I actually have a higher uh view of this strain. I actually want to give it an 8.3. Oh wow. And the reason why is because I think, okay, you know, maybe it didn't hit smacked status, which will be like in the nines and stuff, but it was a very good eight. You know, I might even be convinced if I talk a little further to go as high as 8.4, you know, or something like that, because it it was a very good high. And I don't want to deny that.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_03I can definitely see that. And good mates, that is our review. Don't forget, if you have any comments, opinions, concerns, or just want to drop us a lifeline, visit our comment section or our YouTube page. And don't forget, hit that follow button.
