Today we are reviewing Blue Dream by Left Coast. Left Coast, a disabled veteran and woman-owned vertically integrated company focusing on premium weeds and related wares.

World famous Blue Dream is a 6040 sativa dominant hybrid of blueberry and haze. The terps are Mercine, Caryophylline, and Humilene. Effects, creative, euphoric, and happy. Flavors, berry, blueberry, and sweet. As far as THC content, our friends at Leafly say 21%. Our friends at All Buds say 17 to 24%. And our friends at Left Coast say 22.5%.

Well, it broke pretty big, which is always a good thing. And I mean, there was enough for at least one more after we rolled our rolls. How did it look, Skip?

Big to almost giant size nugs, nicely trimmed. Dark greens, and get this an almost royal blue hue, short orange pistols, and a milky sweet chem. There's some orange and some candy notes there. A whole bunch of notes. A lot of notes.

And this particular jar was packaged two months ago. Very fresh. Let's find out how fresh, Skip. Ready to spoke it? We're ready. Let's do it.

It has like a kind of like a gelato thing going on, aren't you? Yeah. That's the way it's a heavy piney kind of gelato-ish aroma. Yeah. As far as the poles, it's like a sour blueberry. Yeah. With like a touch of chem, touch of gelato. Ironically, it has a little piney kind of thing, but there's no piney in here. Yeah, very loud terps for sure. Let's light it and see how it tastes. Yeah. Ooh, I got the blueberry right away. Blueberry on the exhale right away. That was the carry.

That carry carries like Mariah. Yes. Wow, blueberry on the exhale. Big time. This time I exhale through my nose and still felt the blueberry. That was interesting. Uh, I'm not getting any of the sweet though.

Yeah, no, sweet. All these notes we're talking. It's like a fruit basket, but without the sweetness. I concur. And like a little dankiness to it, like a little.

It's uh it's a very uh active smoke. So you're gonna feel it when you're smoking it. It's uh it's a sharp pull. Yeah, it is. So uh what do we know about left coast? Well, as of right now, like Skip said, veteran, disabled, and woman-owned. So they hit in all the notes. Uh and it comes from California, even though the owners are from New York. Okay, and they've been in New York since 2024. It only looks there, it looks like they're a mini MSO because they only have New York and California. Uh, they according to them, they handle their own cultivation, extraction, manufacturing, and distribution in both states. Uh, but the bottle says acid packaging. So I don't know, and Saratoga Springs, so I don't know if that's them, their New York company, right? You know, or if this is not exactly true and someone else is manufacturing and distributing. But you know, that's something we would have to ask them.

But they say it that they don't white label, which means uh outsource their products, yeah, vertically integrated in the packaging, which is a lot of little fine details just in the packaging.

They had a vacuum seal on the bottle, which is also a good move. Uh, we're not too happy about the pricing. Anywhere from 40 to $55 is really high end. And we're seeing that it's more often than not between the $45 and $50 mark, even though I've seen it past $55, which whoever you are dispo, you're crazy and nobody should buy it from you. Um, we believe that uh, you know, one eighth or three point five ounce jars shouldn't sell for more than max, max, max, max $45.

Yeah, that's a fair price. I mean, considering it's a natural product, but this is New York, one of the uh exclusive markets, only because of the money factor here.

And really, I mean, if that's the way it has to go down, then I don't know about that, Skip, because it's like just because you should, right, or just because you could, doesn't mean you should.

No, absolutely. And what I'm saying is if if that's the case, then just give the people what they want, give them high quality, effective THC weed, and they'll pay. I mean, if you're gonna go that high.

Well, I personally believe it's higher than $45. Wait for it to go on sale. No, absolutely. Because I mean, really, because think about it, folks. $45 before taxes is gonna come out to about you know, $55, $60 almost after taxes. Easy, you know, that's that's what they have to think about. They have to think about the fact that we get taxed very highly, and that has to come into account.

Yeah, okay, I could agree to that. I mean, a lot of companies and all other industries don't ever take none of that into consideration because every state, of course, has their own tax function.

Yes, the closest comparison that I could come to is probably cigarettes. Right. But that's why there's always been a very robust black market cigarette market.

Because yeah, you don't want to bend, okay, there's they're gonna find a market for it.

And if you whenever you buy a cigarette in New York, in the state of New York, it is almost always never stale if it's illegally bought cigarettes. So what I'm saying, it's a highly regulated industry to a point where they're at least give you the best product.

But can we really say that?

Well, you have gotten jars that powder when those words were coming out, I heard myself when I said the best product.

And I felt like taking that back, you know, because I was like, well, there have been times when you open that jar and crunchy, crunchy, crunch. No, absolutely.

But what I'm saying is, ideally for that high price, they should give you the best product possible.

And I feel like since they can't control that with a hundred percent accuracy, right, then they shouldn't charge that much. Okay. That's but that's just me. And all you uh, you know, dispensaries and all you growers will now know that if it costs more than $45, it better be amazing.

Yeah, I'm not feeling any of those. Are you feeling anything? Not not because of the weed, of course. Not not yet. This is light, I can say. The the uh the smoke is pretty dense, but it's lightweight feeling. Spider senses are tingling.

Yeah, blue dream in New York is um, it has like a crazy history because aside from the strain itself, which everyone has a blue dream strain. Um, aside from the strain itself, in New York, for a long time in the illicit drug trade, when your dealer did not know what that was, right, chances are they would turn around and tell you it's blue dream. Yeah. Uh it was like the name of any indeterminate weed uh that you would buy from the you know illicit dealer. Yeah. And so that's kind that's why it kind of has uh a negative connotation in New York. Yeah, now that the dispensaries are bringing out, you know, the their versions of Blue Dream, it's starting to kind of shed that stigma. Yeah, but for a long time it was stigmatized. Like when you heard Blue Dream, you're like, oh nah nah nah nah, and you're like running from it because you knew that that was just what some haze that they just couldn't name or something. Yeah, it always had a good price, you know. And so, you know, Blue Dream is making a comeback, and rightfully so.

I mean, it's a great strain, all in all. You know, it's a smooth, mellow strain, has usually strong flavors, a decent smoke. Yeah, and then yeah, New York and the New York market is coming back, yeah. But yeah, I would agree that you know the dispensary experience is changing a lot of strains, like Blue Dream, you know, they are becoming New York favorites once again. And that's kudos to the growers, legal growers, and dispensaries.

I actually read that in 2024, Blue Jean, Blue Dream was the most sold strain in New York. Okay, you see, there it goes. But is it just the ubiquitousness of it? Okay, or is it just that people actually see it? Exactly, or is it a combination of the two? Who knows? Definitely tastes like blueberries on the way up. But not a smooth smoke, folks. Not a smooth smoke. Old school coffer.

This here it is a blue dream, but their own version, the taste it's uh turning uh like I'm getting more of like a bouquet, if you will. Well, so it's coming out more floral, you know, a lot of changes in the uh notes.

No, I think for me it's staying the same. Another interesting feature with Blue Dream that we were we found during our research was that it um it was almost uniform across the board.

Like THC levels, uh the terps were almost uniform across the board. Like the the left coast version is just one terp off, and it's like that's it. Like um effects were all the same, flavors were all the same. So this is one of those rare strains where every every every different company kind of is in agreement. Yeah, usually that doesn't happen, usually there's a lot of variation, you know, and I I personally attribute that to the fact that people make up their own strains and name it whatever they want.

Yeah, and also Blue Dream is like a lot of other ones, been around a very long time. So to get down to the brass tacks of you know, all its attributes and characteristics is fairly simple because they all pretty much act the same.

Well, yeah, they were very much in alignment. Left coast all but leaf the other places we looked at. Uh so that was pretty cool. Alright, I'm at the halfway point and creative skip.

No euphoric. No, I feel going down that route maybe um some openness, a little positive openness. Okay. Happy. Always, you know.

But not because of the weed. Right. Okay. So that's different. Not that happy. Uh I'm not feeling creative. I do feel like I guess, yeah, I can see what Skip is saying about on the path, but not there, as far as euphoric. And yeah, I don't have happy yet. Uh, at least not chemically happy. Right. And the high? Hello. How's that? Uh I'm starting to feel a fogginess. Uh physically, I'm feeling something like in the back of my eyes, and kind of in my frontal lobe, you know, middle cranial area. There's something there, some pins and needles in the back of my head. As far as physicality, no changes as far as you know, taking off kinks or adding kinks. So it's not gonna do anything physically to you. If you are sore, you're gonna be sore. If you're not sore, you're not gonna be sore. And yeah, that's how I feel pretty much right now. Uh, I don't have the happy or the creative or anything like that. As far as the flavors, the blueberry is there. Yeah, even the berry I'm getting. But the one thing that I have to disagree with is I'm not getting the sweet. You know, it doesn't have a high THC content according to this, but I can see how the entourage effect is making it work. Yeah, I can see it. Like, I don't feel super high, yeah, but I feel like high.

And it's like uh around me kind of high. Yeah, I feel the same. It's a mellow high, but it has like a like a rotational factor. Kind of even closing my eyes a little bit. I kind of feel a bit of like that merry-go-around feeling there.

Right. Very mellow, a very old school high feel. Yeah, yeah. That's that's kind of what I'm getting. The entourage effect definitely works if you get it right. It's just a harder thing to do than just to jack up the THCA. So I can understand why the companies choose to go that route. Of course, of course. Just to get the turbs just right. That's like that takes trial and error. That takes a bit of tuning, yeah.

Yeah. And they seem to got it. Left coast, you know, by the numbers, like I said, we review quite a few of them already, and they all have that. So you are feeling impressed with this product so far? So far, yeah. The quality, of course, you know, and they all have a feeling, some higher than others, of course, but they all have a uh saity factor. Like uh, even though it's not a big THC, you feel like it's enough. You know? That's how you're feeling about this particular strain. It's coming on that way. I feel the high kind of uh getting a little bigger. Yeah, no feeling, you know, no elevation, no elevation, no acceleration, but expansion.

I concur with that statement. And uh this was the blue bottle. They actually color their bottles according to the strains. Very nice packaging.

So they're they're putting in the work. And the owners are supposedly from New York. Oh, okay. Even though they started the company in California. So they have all that going for them. They're veterans, they're disabled, they're women, and they're from New York. I like them already. Right? Right. They fought for us, they bled for us, apparently, if they're disabled veterans. Uh they're women, man. So, you know, more power to them.

Yeah, and across the board, pretty good weed. I mean, you can tell they they put a lot of attention. The trimming is is top-notch always. And the product is always nice and supple. A coffer, but good.

And it's yeah, it's like you said, it's expansive. I don't feel super high. I feel like it's more of an entourage high.

They actually got a good little, like, yeah, they a good little twist here. They did it nicely. It's harder to do than to get it, you know, high THC content.

It's true, and it makes for a more interesting high, depending on you know what mood you're in, but it does. And that's that's something that we can we can really talk about, you know. Entourage effect of all these terps, man. They're very important and they make for a better smoke. Yeah, bringing in the humilene.

Yeah, instead of the pinene. Yeah, I saw that in the bottom there. Good friend. Little twist. Yeah, very interesting nonetheless. And yeah, they're all within one says 21, one says 17 to 24, so it's still in that ballpark, one says 22.5. So they they're like in agreement. Yeah, very aligned, all these places with what we are smoking today. I guess they were like, listen, man, everybody knows what blue dream is, so we can't really fool you, so we really gotta give you blue dream, right? And they did. The blue hue. It was nice looking, but it came out of the package and had a strong turp profile.

Yeah, a brutish turp profile. That it did it took me by surprise, actually. I expect I don't know why I expected more blueberry, but that would that's in the flavor, not so much in the in the smell of it.

Yes, you know, it was like almost gelato-ish, I would say. Yeah, definitely. And then it's like you smoke it and it's like, oh, there's the blueberry. Yeah, but no sweet, still no sweet. I mean, I mean, arguably, you're probably not gonna get sweet at the end, right? It's still no sweet. I didn't get sweet at all. How would you feel for this, you know, socially?

This can work, definitely. This can work. I mean, it's not strong enough to pull you out of your character, let's say, if you're a bit of a quiet person or what have you, and you had to join into a social situation. So it doesn't have that magnetism factor, not that strong, but the openness that it has can, you know, let you blend in and and do your thing. Yeah.

All right, we're going into my just finished segment and feeling good, feeling mellow. Um, not feeling creative, feeling euphoric though. Uh yeah, feeling pretty good. I feel good. So that's definitely the euphoric factor. Uh, as far as going as far as happy, though, probably not. Right. It tasted like blueberry to the end, but it was like a sour blueberry.

Yeah, this is nice. It's a nice, very mellow, very expansive high. Um, I can't say if this, you know, it's fit for relaxation or any kind of Asians, but it's a nice high nonetheless, and it'd be interesting to see how it goes within the hour. See you guys. Next one later. And we're back one hour later. So, how did it go, Skip? One hour later. I'm not as high as I was when I finished. Uh so um, but it has I'm in the post phase and it's fairly strong. You know, I still have a lot of the come down, I can feel it. And that is not necessarily a bad thing, you know. It's just like being high just on the down part of it, the downbeat, if you will, of the high.

Okay, I can kind of concur with that too. I am definitely in the post phase. Uh it's yeah, there's a market difference between the post and the the peak phase. Uh, but it's a nice, pleasant post. Yeah, I'm not feeling bad, uh, nothing heavy. Uh don't feel sleepy or anything like that. So, yeah, it was a good smooth transition. Yeah, I can say that for sure. You feel the same way?

Yeah, definitely. Definitely. It has it was both. The the pre and the post phases are uh not big, but the after effects on both were strong. So even on the high end, it was a mellow expansive high, and now in the post, it's hitting hard.

All right, well, let's do the breakdown. So, you know, when we opened it, it's it looked nice, man, and it smelled nice, but it had a kind of like a gelato thing, it was very dark green, it was almost blue. Yeah. With streaks of light green and orange hairs. It was like really pretty bud, you know. It was uh medium-ish size buds, but super supple. Uh, there were tricones, they were powdery on the outside, they were shiny on the inside. Yeah, I really liked how this bud looked. Um, the turf profile was strong, but it had a lot of different notes. It was like blueberry, sweet, milky, piney, chem, gelato-ish. So a lot of things were coming at you, and that was pretty cool, you know. It broke big. Uh, you know, smoking it was pleasant. Uh well, no, actually, uh, let me let me take that back because no, smoking was kind of rough. It it was a hard smoke, right? And you know, when you're experienced, you're okay with it, but might not be for the casual smoker because of that. Casual smokers don't like to cough a lot, and uh this one makes you cough a lot. Uh, other than that, you know, very close to what they were saying in all the in all the reviews and in all the things that we saw, all the previews. And so, you know, it hewed exactly to what they were saying. The high wasn't that strong, but it was there, it was expansive and and it was a nice high, you know. We we we vi vibed very nicely, Skip and I, you know, as the hour progressed, and the transition was smooth, even though there's a market difference in the transition between uh peak and post. Right. So, you know, when I want to break it down, I gotta say, um, I guess the best way to put it is it's like a nice little high. Uh, and it has a little old school feel, and for that I'm gonna give it a 6.6.

Okay. Well, yeah, this was a nice experience once again with Left Coast. Uh, same quality, same kind of experience, except for this one. Uh, we kind of anticipated it because of the low THC values. But of course, this is Blue Dream we're talking about, where the stars of this show were the terps. The terps and the entourage effect made it for a very nice, expansive, and mellow high. So the numbers was not really a big part of this here. And taking into effect that it's the ubiquitous Blue Dream where everybody has their own uh style and version, this one is pretty nice, and I will definitely do it again. I'll give it a 6.9. Pretty nice, Kip. And I have to agree with him in the fact that the Entourage effect was in full effect.
